The Legend of Outer Wilds: GABBRO

Here is the second reference sheets of all the TLOOW main characters (and the first one who got a design: Gabbro!

Additional informations about Gabbro:

- Like said in the description, I wanted Gabbro to be a nuanced character, by designing them more like a Zelda villain. Since they also are on Giant’s Deep, where there is just water everwhere, I also wanted to stay in the Zelda theme by giving them a Zora feel. This is why they are a bit less… clothed than in the actual game.

- Just like the Hatchling, Gabbro has purple glowing eyes when they interact with Nomai magic or text.

- Gabbro and the Hatchling very often clash due to Gabbro’s mindset. They fight often, but it always resolves in the end. They have to look out for each other.

- It is revealed later in the story that Gabbro influenced the Hatchling to get stuck into the loop as well. Everytime the loop started, the Hatchling would start on Giant’s Deep, and they spent multiple loops to figure out how to get the Hatchling to follow them to a statue. They did this out of despair and loneliness. This will lead to a big fight between the two, bigger, bigger than usual. Fortunately, it will eventually resolve as well. Like said before, they have to look out for each other.-

Gabbro’s flying bug is a giant mantis called Soothsayer. But Gabbro instead calls it Big Buddy, or Flying Friend.

Fawn

A group of heroes and one Scientist sit together, laughing and joking around. Scientist quietly says they need to go home, and leave for their car.

Hopping in, they turn on their favourite station and start up the car. The drive home is a blur of traffic lights and buildings and cars.

The Scientist trudges upstairs to their apartment, unlocking the door and stumbling a little as they walk inside. The apartment is small, but filled with various trinkets and decorations, Scientist discards their bag on the floor, then retreats to their bedroom to lie down. Soft breathing is the only sound in the room as they rest on the mattress, gazing up at the fairy lights covering the ceiling. Sparkles in their eyes Scientist drifts off.

Clashing and banging awakens the scientist, groggy eyed they walk over to the source of the sound. Supervillain stands surrounded by pots and pans in their kitchen.

“Supervillain?! What are you doing in my kitchen? Why is there pots everwhere? What happened?” Scientist rubs their eyes to make sure they’re not seeing things.

They’re not.

Supervillain stares at them.

“Darling that’s none of your concern, what’s more important is why your apartment is such a mess I can barely walk in here!”

“What. Nevermind. It’s not for you, Supervillain. Get out”

“Not unless you come with me~” The villain’s voice is light, like they’re teasing an old friend.

“Get out.” Scientist refuses to budge.

“Aw, but I just got here!”

The villain tries to walk slyly over to Scientist but the pots are in the way, banging loudly as they move.

“Darling I’m going to need you to come with me” Supervillain pulls out a vial of Scientist’s latest experiment — a poison untraceable even to the one poisoned. “Unless you want to be the first to try this.”

Shit.

Scientist’s eyes blow wide with barely masked fear, their better judgment shutting off in panic. They know this response of theirs — fawn until the threat isn’t a threat anymore — but this is Supervillain. That may very well never happen. Still there isn’t exactly anything a scientist who’s never fought before can do against the most powerful villain in the city.

So they fawn. A small nod seals their fate, as Supervillain grabs their arm and drags them to their car.

AI-less Whumptober

Day 6 - Surprise Sunday (Multiple whumpees, self sacrifice, “I’m the only one who can do this.”)

TW/CW: Grim dark ending, minor character death, major character death, whumperless whump-kinda, hero(es) vs. villain whump, tired heroes Word count: 641

"Jack, watch out!", Hero screamed but it was too late. A spear out of the same black goo that they were all fighting impaled the other hero right in front of his eyes. He could only watch as Jack coughed, blood coating his lips and then collapse to his feet as the goo retracted from his body. He knew there would be no way to save him, not even with other hero's healing powers. And they had enough on their hands anyways. Their team was already struggling enough and if they themselves didn't focus on the fight happening right this instant they'd be the next to die! So they tore their eyes away from his corpse and blinked away the tears that wanted to build up. No time. Their gaze flickered over the square. Shaped liked an arena and nearly completely surrounded by taller buildings. The exit and pathway into the heart of the city behind them, the entrance in front of them-completely blocked by a wave of controlled black goo. When had Supervillain gotten such strength!? They jumped back as arrows of the substance attempted to nail their body into the marble floor. They slashed the arms down and burned them right after. That killed the substance but it was way too slow. That way they would never win. Exhaustion was already written over all their faces. In a desperate attempt Hero again shot a collum of fire towards the substance, already knowing it wouldn't be enough...And as expected the flames burned for a moment, tearing it apart until they got overpowered and swallowed by the flames.

"It will never work that way! Iz too strong!", Drew yelled over, her accent even stronger now. Her lightning crackling everwhere around her and attacking every drop of goo coming near her. "We have to find a way to kill it or break the connection to whoever iz controlling it!" She jumped back twice and dodged to the side.

Supervillain. They narrrowed their eyes in hatred. How would they have designed this weapon? This lethal weaponry designed for mass murder. Inside! The worst option would be that the only way to destroy it would be from the inside. Or kill Supervillain-which none of them were strong enough to do. I can do it. I have to. "I'm gonna destroy it, protect the city, don't give up.", they yelled to their city as they took off the amulet they always wore. Even in the shower and to bed. They would never take it off unless they were about to die...Like now. They saw the widened eyes of their team, the protests they wanted to say but gulped down. They were all tired and numb. Heroism was never as glorious as they advertised. But they could still make a difference, save the city and their people one last time.

As they walked towards the goo their whole body erupted in blazing flames. It took every last drop of Hero's energy and their nose started to bleed yet they kept walking. Until they could touch the ever moving wave of black goo and then further. Burning themselves a way inside while chocking on it. With their last rasping breath, bloody nose and last energy they let out a blood curling stream and exploded into a flame inferno.

Hero would never know that their sacrifice wasn't enough. They would never find out that their friends died mourning and fighting. That their bodies were mangled and mauled by the goo until they were unrecognizable and there was nothing left anyone wanted to bury. That the city was nearly completeley wiped off the map and the ones glorified, tired heroes who gave their all were hated by the survivors. Maybe it was better that way. For them at least. For the little hero who sarcificed himself for absolutely nothing.

The removed clothing are making "WHOOSH" and "FWIP" noises. Now Elias is wearing a purple-black jacket with green shoulderpads, a pink silk ascot, a pink silk pocket square, purple pleated high-waisted pants, green socks, and pink high heels. A white cat is jumping out from behind his tear-away slacks with a "prrbt" noise. In pale text Elias is saying "Just like we practiced, Elias" and "Fuck I look good." The offscreen text reads "What the fuck" and "Whose cat is that" and "I still have my gun"

Panel 3:

The background has changed again so that the yellow diamonds have become a large yellow stylized eye. Elias is holding the fluffy white cat in his arms and grinning. He is wearing purple eyeliner and gold eye earrings. He has long, dark purple nails. His lower eyelashes are on full display, and his face is sharper. His text reads, in a flamboyant font, "A VILLAIN". The offscreen text reads "He looks like a magician" and "I hate it here."

Dragon Prince/Marvel Mashup

Just a an idea I had about the characters from the Dragon Prince in the Marvel universe, and how the roles would change.

Callum Parker/Spider-Man

When Callum was bitten by a strange spider, he soon discovered he had gained the amazing abilities of a spider.

Remembering how he lost his mother at a young age and wanted to live up to her selfless example without endangering his remaining family, he donned a masked costume and gadgets fasioned from materials salvaged from around his stepdads company to help others. Little did he know his life was about to get even more complicated.

(I figured that since Callum already endured tragedy he would step into the role of Spider-Man much sooner then Peter did)

Ezran/Future Spider-Man

Though a wise and caring soul, the prestige of being the son of a important industialist like Harrow, made it hard for him to make friends beyond outside of his family and Dr. Virans children, Claudia and Soren, and the mounting pressures of knowing of the power he will one day have, make him long for a normal simple childhood but he understands none the less thanks to a lesson taught to his brother by their late mother, that with great power comes great responsibility, so he's determined to have it when that power comes. But it won't just be as a CEO.

(Since PS4 Spider-Man had both Miles and Peter working together, practically like brother, this just made sense)

Rayla/Moonshadow

Protégé of the infamous vigilante Runaan, the Moonknight who she had studied under for years. She was a savant when it came to agility and melee combat but when it came time to implement his kind of justice while infiltrating a company he suspected of illicit dealings she couldn't bring herself to kill a unfortunate security guard who happened upon them, blowing the mission.

Now on her own and somewhat lost about her direction in life, but still ingrained with a desire to fight injustice, she took upon a mission of her own to guard the city from the criminal underworld, eventually crossing paths with Spider-Man, who after a brief confrontation over methods, became fast friends, and in time realizing they both felt somthing more for the other.

(Think a more heroic Black Cat but with knives)

Viren/Grey Goblin

One of Katlolinustries greatest scientific minds with an unfortunate tendacy to cut corners, morality wise, to achive results to the dismay of his boss and best friend Harrow who felt his "creative solutions" causdd more problems than they solved. Desperate to prove to Harrow, and himself, the merits of his questionable research into a chemical performance enhancer, and beat out the companies competitors, he recklessly tested it on himself.

The result was a stronger and faster body but also a deranged split personality called; The Grey Goblin who equipped with corrupted innovations of his began targeting Katolindustires compition and Virans persoanl rivals and becoming the arch enemy of heroes everwhere.

(I was originally going to make him fulfill the role of the Lizard, being a teacher of Callums but then I remembered who else liked to talk to sinister people in mirrors)

Harrow/Iron Man

Head of Katolindustries and secretly the superhero Iron-Man.

After the tragic loss of his beloved wife Sarai, Harrow became obsessed with taken revenge on those who had taken her from him and their sons, having company make weapons to be used against them, but as ths years past he came to regret his vendetta as he saw his inventions fall into the wrong hands too often.

Determined to make amends he stopped all weapon research despite the protests of his friend Dr. Viran but feeling it wasnt enough after seeing the harm done first hand he secretly built a suit of advanced armour to combat the many villains in the world, equipped with the a helpful AI named the "Programmed Interactive Personality" or P.I.P.

Ironically he would not be the only member of his family to become a superhero.

(Honestly, who else could he be?)

Thats all I've got so far, but I definetly think Claudia would be their Scarlet Witch (Onyx Witch.) equivalent, Soren a cross between Flash Thompson and Harry Osborne, Lujanne the Sorceress Supreme, (making Aaravos the Baron Mordo) Nyx is the Vulture, Aanya would be their Cpt. America, (with Gren and Corvus as her Bucky and Falcon) and Janai would be the Gold Panther.
