i related to effy an unhealthy amount when i was only 13 when i first watched it, but at the time i wasnt doing drugs, homewrecking, doing anything that young lol. however i was extremely mentally ill but undiagnosed, and so confused but i found solace in effys character because of how similar i felt to her. flashforward to being 20 now and im a nic addict/borderline drug and alcohol addict that forgets to take my prescribed antidepressants and antipsychotics. i cant tell you how many events of effys life have mirrored mine now 7 years later, both the pretty but mostly the ugly. it all feels like a joke to me, and the thing is of course it wasnt effy the fictional character that did this to me, it was the fact that i was genetically and epically set up to do this to me for as long as i existed and i saw myself in her too young. everyone ive ever met and started to befriend has fallen in love with me, has found me beautiful, and then seen my flaws and hated me even if they didnt tell me to my face. ive been a horrible friend and partner and im flighty and unreliable and destructive. i never saw effy, or a person like effy, find a happy ending and im afraid even when im at my manic highs i will never find a lasting happiness and will always accidentally self sabotage until i die. what im trying to ask is, how can i save me? i know its dumb to ask a random tumblr user but ive been following this blog since i was 13-14 and since you know effy through and through, you might know a little about me. its a long shot. (i’d also like to say this isnt a cry for help and im safe/not actively suicidal so i dont want you to feel like theres any pressure like that, but i did use this ask box as a free therapy session.)

I'm a bit biased, but I don't think there's anything wrong with asking a random Tumblr user at all. I'm happy to be a free therapy session when you need one, and I'm really touched that you've trusted me with your thoughts and feelings for so long. Hopefully I've been some help over the years 😆

Coping with mental illness can be really, really hard, but the good news is that with the right tools and support system, you can absolutely recover. It sounds like you already have a psychiatrist in your life, which is a great start. If you've having trouble remembering to take your medication, it might help to set calendar reminders on your phone, set up text prompts to remind you to take your pills, to link taking your pills with something else you do every day (like brushing your teeth or eating breakfast), or to reward yourself for taking your medication (for example, putting a piece of candy in your pill box that you can eat after taking your pill).

If you don't have one already, a therapist might also be a good idea. It can take a while to find the right therapist for you, so schedule a few appointments and see which therapist you "click" with. A therapist can help you work through any reluctance you might have towards taking you medications, as well as helping you come up with day to day strategies that help you achieve your goals and helping you work through the beliefs that you hold about yourself and the world that may be holding you back.

Moving on to talking about addiction for a bit. I strongly believe that addiction doesn't come from some type of inherent lack of willpower or moral failing, or even really the drug itself. It's the need to escape reality. And that's actually supported by scientific literature; most famously, the Rat Park experiment by Bruce K Alexander. Practically, we've seen that same thing in the aftermath of Portugal's decision to decriminalize all drugs. They took the money they were using to keep drug users in prison, and instead invested that money into reconnecting people who struggle with addiction to society. Their goal was to make sure that every person who struggles with addiction has a reason to get up in the morning and has a support system within the wider society. And it actually worked- injection drug use is down 50%, overdoses and HIV infections have massively decreased, and rates of addiction decreased as well. It's much easier to quit when you have something motivating you to keep going.

Why am I telling you all of this? I guess what I'm trying to get at is in order to recover from addiction, I think first people need to understand what the reality is that they're trying to escape. What can be done about those issues? Who's in your corner trying to support you, even if they're not doing the best job at it? Where else can you get the social support you might need? What are you passionate about? What would make it feel worth it to get up in the morning? I think instead of focusing on the drugs, or the alcohol, or the cigarettes, maybe we should focus on solving the root problems that make those attractive options. That's one of the reasons a therapist is a really good idea; they can help you figure out what those root problems are, and provide resources and tools to help you fix those problems.

In terms of practical, do it yourself advice for dealing with addiction, there are a couple things you might try. I did a whole post on evidence-based ways to set goals and follow through on them here, so I won't rehash it in this post, but basically:

Try to set goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time bound. For you, this might be something like "My goal is to have only one drink a day (measurable and achievable) for week (time bound) so that I can be more reliable for my friends (relevant)".

Instead of trying to quit something, replace it with something else. For example, "when I feel like smoking, I'm going to do ten minutes of learning Korean instead". Learning something new is easier and more exciting, and so new habits are easier to maintain that breaking old ones. Find a new hobby that you've always wanted to do or that's exciting to you, and try to focus your energies on that to distract yourself.

Identify any obstacles (such as environmental triggers) that you might run into, and develop contingency plans for working around them. This might be something like, "when I drink coffee in the morning, I want to smoke, so I'm going to switch to tea instead." If you can, get rid of all environmental triggers that might remind you of your addiction or trigger a craving.

Get someone else involved. Tell a friend about your goal and have them check up on you. Your fear of disappointing them will help you stay on track.

Put money on the line. Give money to a friend with the understanding that you'll get it back at a set date if you've achieved the goal you set. Tell your friend that if you fail, they should donate the money to a group or cause you really hate.

Write down the reasons you want to quit, and put them somewhere you know you'll see them. Whenever you want to engage in an addiction behavior, read through that list first.

For bonus points, add to that list your contingency plan for when you want to engage in an addiction behavior. These may include ways to redirect your attention or distract yourself until the craving passes.

You might also try an addiction recovery app, such as these, or doing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy worksheets on your own if you can't access a therapist right now.

There are also some things you can try in order to improve your mood. As much as I hate that this is true, consistent exercise has a huge impact on mood. If you can, try taking a 20 minute walk outside, 3 times a week. Other (boring) things, like making sure you're getting 7-9 hours of sleep a night and eating regularly, can also make a big difference in mood. Some of you might know that I'm a little bit obsessed with the free Coursera class "The Science of Well-Being". It has a lot of great evidence-based tips and tricks for how to build happiness, and I highly recommend it if you're trying to live a happier life. These include things like journaling, meditating, noting things that you're grateful for, helping other people, and having regular social interactions.

Finally, a few philosophical thoughts. One of the Four Noble Truths in Buddhism is dukkha. Basically, this is the idea that suffering is an innate characteristic of existence in our world. When I was younger, I never liked this concept, but I think now I kind of get it. It's impossible to be happy 100% of the time, and that shouldn't be our goal. Suffering is the comparison by which our lives gain meaning. But we can do our best to minimize our suffering and the suffering of others, and ride the wave of suffering when it does come. And each time we ride that wave, we can learn techniques to manage it a little bit better, and to make it easier the next time. We will sometimes sabotage ourselves out of fear, but we can learn how to do it less frequently and for the consequences to be less dire. We can learn how to forgive ourselves for our flaws and what we've done in the past, and learn from those mistakes so we don't do them again in the future. It's also okay to backslide, to struggle even after you've made progress. You're never back where you started, because you've always learned more and experienced more.

I know I've thrown kind of a lot at you in this post, and I don't expect you to try all of it or for all of it to work, but hopefully something in there is helpful to you. You can get through this. You can save yourself, but please, also remember to let others help save you. You don't need to do this on your own. And just like I have been since you were 13, I'm always here to give a free therapy session and to lend my support ❤️❤️❤️

Callout post for Rhiannon / tumblr user irl-harleyquinn / not-yandere-kuudere / otaku-umaru-chan

I have been planning doing this callout for a long time but I haven’t since it’s mostly personal beef between me, my boyfriend and aer. Now I’m at that point I can’t let this pass and I want aer to take responsibility of aer actions. I’m very sorry for this being so long. I’m going to make another post if I recall more.

Summarized version: Rhiannon has been abusing both me and my boyfriend since we met aer. Ae has sexually harassed both of us, sexually abused my boyfriend (the other callout on my byf), been generally unapologetic, copied my whole personality and done lots of bad things in general. For me ae caused episodes regularly; one time ae even ignored when I was this close to killing myself, ignored my triggers, ignored my well being in general, started copying my interests etc.

All in all ae is very abusive and this callout post is mainly made for aer to realize what ae has done wrong and try to change aer behavior in aer future relationships since straight-up telling aer doesn’t seem to help as proven by both my boyfriend’s and my experiences.

NOTE: I have never done a callout post before so I dont know how to structure this well. I also don’t have lots of ‘proof’ or screenshots since I deleted our convos (most of the stuff happened on Skype) and blocked aer everywhere after breaking my ties with aer because at the time I thought ae would learn from aer mistakes, but I was wrong. Most of these are from aer blog or from what I could recover from my old blog.

1. Causing breakdowns on me, not taking me seriously, triggering me

Since I started talking with aer I got this ugly feeling inside my chest to which I probably should have listened. Ae was very clingy toward my boyfriend, ignoring that I had abandonment issues; I am diagnosed with both BPD and DPD and ae knew this. Despite this ae didn’t honestly think about my feelings at all. Below is one example of the gross things ae did to my boyfriend (which caused me to dissociate and have a panic attack) and didn’t change aer behavior even after this.

EDIT 12/8/2017: It has been revealed to me that ae used to sexually abuse my boyfriend which makes this all a lot of worse. Please check the details from my main blogs byf or on his blog.

I honestly felt like ae might have been jealous about me because ae obsessed over my boyfriend so much. Me telling about my age regressing and young mental age and aer response is this:

A convo I don’t have screenshots of was me nearly killing myself and ae treated me the same as in previous convos. Ae was the only person online that late so ofc thinking ae was my friend I contacted aer. A mistake. This honestly scarred me a lot because there was a really big chance I had died that night and ae wasn’t helping me at all.

Rhiannon also talked a lot about aer sexual abuse which is kind of a triggering subject to me because of my own experiences. Ae knew this but constantly brought it up. Sometimes ae would talk sexually about my IDs which also made me have break downs. One time ae sent me a picture of aer nsfw art knowing it would make me uncomfortable. According to my boyfriend ae talked a lot about sex to him even though it made him uncomfortable.

Ae also was weirdly coming onto me even though ae knew at the time I identified as aromantic (censored my irl name again):

2. Obsessive behavior, stalking, copying, being abusive and manipulation in general, lying

Rhiannon bases all aer abusive behavior to “being mentally ill”. This is complete bullshit since ae does realize ae is being manipulative.

As mentioned before ae was really obsessed with both of us; but mainly with my boyfriend. Ae never stopped talking about my boyfriend when ae talked to me which made me frankly annoyed and triggered my abandonment issues. According to my boyfriend ae spammed him 24/7 and wanted to video chat every single day. Ae got upset if my boyfriend didn’t want to hang out with aer and during group chats commented on every single thing my boyfriend said. Ae spammed me too and after we broke our ties apparently still talked about me a lot as if we still were friends to my boyfriend which I honestly find creepy.

I live in Finland and ae brought up moving here for a few times all over from America after my boyfriend which always turned alarms on inside my head. Here’s one of them and ae is making it seem like ae is half joking; ae isn’t since ae brought it up so many times (censored out my boyfriend irl name just in case):

Ae clearly didn’t notice my discomfort with this or rather didn’t want to notice. Ae also made fun of my grammar even though English isn’t my first language. My boyfriend told me later that ae was in fact a bit racist; ie. making remarks on my boyfriends ethnicity.

Rhiannon has/had?? a fp who ae was even more obsessed about and made a text post (which ae deleted after awhile) where ae wished that this person would break up so ae could be with them. This has also been confirmed by my boyfriend. Ae also admits falling in love yet another friend of aers:

Ae does stalk others too. After cutting with aer, my boyfriend blocked aer on text, facebook, twitter, tumblr, snapchat, skype and youtube, but ae still managed to reach him via pinterest with a long and hateful message.

A really minor thing but Rhiannon used to copy my interests a lot. If I were interested in something ae was too overnight. This wouldn’t bother me as much if I didn’t have identity issues such as BPD and DID. My boyfriend noted ae did this to him too.

EDIT 12/8/2017: This wasn’t as minor as I thought it was. As I browsed through my old tumblr convo with ae I noticed that every time I told something about myself, ae seemed to become the same over night. Ae was stealing bits and pieces of my identity. I told ae about my mental health problems, ae had the same ones suddenly. I told about the fashion trend I was into, ae was suddenly into it too. I told about being an age regressor, ae was suddenly too. I id:d as bigender, ae suddenly did too! I told about being aroace at the time, ae became one as well!! My boyfriend noted that at some point suddenly aer blog was pink as was mine and reblogged and posted similar content as I did at the time even though ae had always been stating ae is goth and had dark blog before. Rhiannon also guilt trips a lot and threatens people with suicide. This is debatable if it’s serious or not, but every time things won’t go aer way, ae will make text posts guilt tripping how ae wants to die and how everyone abandons aer which was one of the reasons I forgave ae tons of times.

Ae also lies regularly. one example is when ae told my boyfriend aer IQ, then later admitted to lying about the number. Then again ae said ae was "lying about lying" about aer IQ. So ae is not a credible source and will likely manipulate the situation as ae sees fit.

3. Guilt tripping both of us while breaking our ties with ae

After I finally broke my ties with aer after withstanding aer behavior for almost a year, ae started guilt tripping me telling I shattered aer sense of self even though only thing I did was stopping being aer friend. I had constantly stated how ae could change aer behavior but ae never listened.

My boyfriend however got it worse. After he got fed up with aer too ae has constantly, I MEAN CONSTANTLY, been vagueing and name dropping him. My boyfriend hinted and tried to set boundaries but this didn’t help. Rhiannon is trying to paint my boyfriend as this awful backstabber even though ae was the one breaking boundaries.

The formal callout for Driad aka Daniel Mahone

Daniel Mahone from Cambridge UK is an online sexual predator. We are unsure about his age since he’s changed his age many times but he’s claiming to be 18 currently. He targets very young teenagers and coerces them into sexual conversations and has done this for years without repercussion.

He’s currently off tumblr as far as we know but he remakes often and having this widespread for awareness is a priority.

Daniel, referred to as Driad from here on, is stalking tumblr user 75pennies. He obsessively adds her and follows her on alternate accounts and fake accounts pretending to be someone else.

“Im gonna be blunt: Tumblr user driad is a sexual abuser, and a pedophile. This time last year, we met via some mutuals or something, i don’t really remember; he just started messaging me. I was 14, he was 17, and i was in a very bad unstable situation. From day one, he was sexual with me. The night we started talking, he admitted he was jacking off while we were talking on Skype, and he tried to make me “help him”. I respectfully declined, and then i respectfully had a panic attack in my bathroom. He kept messaging me after that, a lot of it casual conversation, and a lot of it flirting. He eventually wooed me over through flattery, i guess, because i warmed up to him. Now, my situation plays into this because i was not in a good place at all at the time. He eventually started getting me to do sexual things that included: masturbating with him on Skype, sending him nude photos and videos of me doing different things, him making me insert inanimate objects into me on Skype calls, him making me do rather dangerous things (painful foreign insertion of objects anally, to put it nicely,) him calling me names like “kitten”, him making me call him “master”, the list goes on. I would often have panic attacks while performing these acts for him. At one point he introduced me to one of his friends. I don’t remember their gender, but they were DFAB as well, and he made them do similar things. At one point he made group chats and made us BOTH do things for him at the same time. I think the friend was about 16 at the time, but once again, i dont remember; i didn’t know his friend outside of this. One night, me and them just spent hours talking about how much we hated him, how much we wished he wasn’t like that, but neither of us knew what to do. I fell out of contact with the friend after a short while, but his abuse went on for months. He sent me rape threats, death threats, messages while i was in school (sometimes he would make me go to the bathroom to take nudes against my will,) and he spammed me constantly and got upset when i didn’t answer immediately. He would pretend to be sad and guilt trip me until i talked to him, or Skyped him, or sent him nudes. I was so afraid of disappointing him, of making him hate me. He became my fp, and i developed a crush on him. I told him that, and he didn’t feel the same way, but he absolutely used it to his advantage to get what he wanted. Eventually i had had enough. I don’t know what flipped in me, but I told him he could fucking suck it, and i blocked him and remade on everything he ever knew me on. The aftermath was awful; i have had flashbacks, panic attacks, and breakdowns. I have been through therapy dedicated to helping sexually abused kids. My depression surrounding this was so awful that i was hospitalized for self harm and suicide attempts. All because i was SO desperate for an abuser to love me. But he didn’t, he took advantage of me. And i know he still does it. I saw a post on my dash tonight made by someone who is 14, the same age i was. They were made uncomfortable by him and his requests as well. I messaged them and warned them to block him, and they thanked me. Thats why i made this. Because i don’t want anything like what happened to me to EVER happen to anybody else. Driad is now 18 years old, an adult. His blog is @driad. so ive seen some shit lately & i just wanna throw in my opinion 1) accusations of antisemitism: so two years ago, he reblogged two humorous posts that mentioned hitler (one was abt powerpuff girls, & one was an out-of-context gif of a hitler speech). now, im jewish, and i personally have rather lax views on antisemitism bc im so used to it at this point. i only really get heated when someone’s legitimately a neo-nazi. but ive personally reblogged the powerpuff post on my old blog, i remember laughing at it (it made fun of his appearance, not his deplorable actions - saying someone has a hitler ‘stache is very very different than oven/gassing jokes). the other post was parodying hitler, not glorifying him or anything. plus it was 2 yrs ago, and i believe both posts have 100k+ notes. tumblr humor. the trend of people digging up problematic shit from years ago needs to stop. 2) homophobia/transphobia: ok, like, first off, he’s not straight himself, and i know lgbt people can still be homophobic and/or transphobic, but this is thomas sanders we’re talking abt. hes famously supportive of just abt everyone. i cant believe THIS is what ppl are accusing him of? all bc he said he supports asexuals & he thinks that we’re lgbt? as an asexual person, i don’t think we’re lgbt, but knowing him, im not surprised thats his viewpoint and i definitely dont think he meant any harm. supporting one group of people doesnt always mean you hate another group, although tumblr tends to have very black-and-white thinking. 3) hes nearly-30 and appealing to a younger audience: i saw this with dan & phil too, and ive even seen it with 25+ y/o tumblr users. i personally dont see why this is an issue. these people grew up on the internet, and it’s like people expect them to quit once they hit 25. like, what are they supposed to do once they hit that age? start going to local soccer games and reading newspapers?? and it’s always 18-22 y/os with this thinking. like?? what are you doin, @confessionsofatwentysomethingfurry625?? why arent u throwing ur laptop and tablet out the nearest window and deleting ur tumblr app right now & going to the local senior center to mingle w ppl ur age, instead of bitching abt ppl 2 yrs older than u bein too old for the internet?? idk i just dont get that. such twisted thinking. i befriended a 42 y/o mom on here once, a couple years back (on my old blog, before anyone tries to dig around this one to disprove me). she was super nice, and always gave me advice, and never was weird or creepy. one of the nicest ppl i ever encountered on here. now, theres a potentional danger with befriending older bloggers, but theres just as much danger w befriending younger ones?? it’s pretty easy for any shitty person to be abusive online, unfortunately, regardless of their age. a 17 y/o friend of mine was emotionally abused by a 14 y/o person they met online. now, onto a broader topic: internet personalities appealing to the age group thats primarily watching them. all the popular youtubers are 22-30, and their watchers are usually teenagers. they cant help that, but it’s a fact, so theyre gonna try to entertain said age group best they can. it’s their job, after all, and they cant just quit it. a lot of them have been on youtube since they were our age, anyway. this is all they know, and for some of them, it’s how theyve survived for nearly a decade. like?? 4) last thing: the pedophilia thing. alright, so im a minor (turning 17 soon), im a fanfic writer (that strays into smut sometimes, admittedly), but i cant draw, and i notice when my fav celebrities have cute asses. if i could draw, i dont think i’d draw ass pics, but i suppose i could see why ppl would. i saw some of the posts - from what i could see, there wasnt any nudity. it was like, clothed asses. butts arent sexual, unless theyre shown in a sexual context. the posts weren’t nsfw, just maybe a little personal & a lil bit creepy. thomas was tryin to be good-natured abt smth sorta awkward that his fans get a kick out of. imo, nothing wrong w that. he made a post that his minor fans shouldnt post nsfw, but he wasnt doing anything pedophilic by reblogging non-nsfw fanart. accusing ppl of pedophilia is a pretty heavy thing, and people on tumblr like to label people horrible things all willy-nilly. i hope that trend dies, but realistically, its probs wont. in conclusion, i personally don’t think anyones a genuinely good person, but i think ppl should stop trying to find flaws in people who are really trying their best to be good in this world of evil. theres so much more to criticize and protest, and everyone’s energy should be put into things like that rather than some internet guy whos trying his best to be positive and non-controversial. get a life, yall

"Health insurance for young, healthy people?

I'm trying to find a health insurance plan made for someone like me- 26, male, non-smoker,non-drinker, currently at ideal weight, regularly exercises, no health conditions, no prescriptions, etc. I mostly want something that'll cover check-ups with maybe a small co-pay, and then has a high deductable for a broken bone/ sports injury etc. Everything available at my job seems to cater to the chronically ill/ older/ heavy prescription user. private plans are to much per month. This is why I decline medical benefits, year after year! I know any of these plans would be helpful in the case of serious injury- just in case. But none seems to offer any tangible benefits like, I don't know, 2 doctor visits a year? Every plan requires that I exhaust my deductable first- I'll never spend 250-1000 a year for doctors visits! I'm guessing, based on cost that a high deductable plan is best for my broken bone scenario- but how can then screw me out of seeing a doctor just to get a check up?

The Senate bill also includes an estimated $630 billion in corporate welfare for private insurance companies in the form of subsidies over the next 10 years, creating even less incentive than currently exists for private insurance premiums to be lowered. To make matters worse, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services estimates that 19 million Americans would not buy insurance and as a result would be forced to pay $29 billion in taxes/fines. The Joint Committee on Taxation has made it clear that failure to pay these fines could result in jail time. Thirty-six states have passed or are considering measures that would allow their residents to opt out, including Virginia, Utah, Pennsylvania, Florida, Minnesota, Michigan, Georgia and Ohio. Given these fact, it is not surprising that a recent NBC News poll finds 57 percent of Americans do not want the government to create a law that requires everyone to have health insurance coverage and that only 38% of Americans favor the mandate, making it the least popular part of the bill. Hi guys, so here is my situation. someone rear ended me when I was yielding to other cars. The police came and gave her a ticket and he made us exchange information because he said the damage to my car doesnt look like its over $1500(thats the only time they issue a police report. I live in virginia).I hit my head and back pretty bad so I have been experiencing severe back pains and minor headaches. What I know. You have to tax your car unless you do a SORN. If you have done a SORN you don't have to pay car tax or even insure your car if you don't want to. If you don't intend to drive your car but it has car tax then your car HAS to be insured by law. But what about the other way round ...? If you have a car insured but it is in the garage and you never intend to drive it, for example it is a collectors item, do you HAVE to tax it? I can find on the net yes you have to insure your car if it is taxed but cannot find confirmation either way whether you HAVE to also have your car taxed if you never intend to drive it but you do want it insured.
