Goro sleeps deeply, dreaming that he is laying inside the white, antiseptic room that V had convalesced in after Mikoshi. The room she had been trapped in. He lays on the floor, limbs heavy and useless. She sits by his side, utterly serene. He tells her stories about his life, all of them untrue, while she uses her knife to cut open his chest, his bones snapping like rotten wood under the blade. While she works his skin melts back together, splintered ribs reaching for each other, melding together through the arc of his rib cage even as her curious fingers seek deeper veins.

His body wars against the intrusion: a defense he cannot control. They suffer as one, waiting for her to find his heart while his body continuously weaves itself back together with chrome and blood. The progress she makes is agonizingly slow– it will take decades, perhaps centuries. She is stubborn.

But perhaps she will grow weary of being patient, and simply plunge her hand in and tear him free.

I only have one wip at the moment and it's the epilogue to Fall Into Me. Here's a peek (be forewarned, it's unedited):

Fresh air with the slightest chill met them as they exited the building. The soft hum of a string quartet filled the air while guests arrived and took their seats. A charming wooden arbor adorned with colorful flowers and delicate greenery served as the altar at which the two of you would become husband and wife.

Taking a deep breath to steady himself, Joel walked down the aisle to his place in front of the arbor. He stood tall, looking undeniably handsome in a slate gray suit sans tie, the top few shirt buttons open offering a glimpse of his tanned chest. Thick curls were swept back from his face, facial hair trimmed to perfection.

Stepping up to his left side, Tommy smiled broadly at the small crowd. He tucked his longer locks behind his ears and sent a cheeky wink to his woman sitting in the front row. Maria rolled her eyes playfully. He watched Joel’s hand flex in a nervous tick and braced a hand on his shoulder. “You got this, big brother.”
