I just read A Children's Bible by Lydia Millet and I thought it was excellent! A group of children (mostly teens) who have been on summer vacation with their parents have to look out for themselves amidst climate change driven storms as society begins to collapse. Also two of the younger kids have been reading an illustrated children's bible and they don't exactly believe in the Christian God but they do try to save a bunch of animals like Noah and reinterpret the trinity as Nature, Science, and Art.
I would say if you are put off by the summary being about a group of kids or just the plot sounding sort of odd or far fetched, but are potentially interested in the themes, try reading a sample if you can. I was so skeptical based on the blurb, but was drawn in quickly once I actually started reading. The tone is pretty consistent, and being from a disillusioned teen's (often surprisingly funny) perspective certainly won't be for everyone, so you can probably decide fairly quickly if you want to continue. And the story provides A LOT of layers to unpack-extensive biblical allegory, climate disaster, parenting, neglect, culpability, inaction...... I'm still mulling over a lot of it, at the moment I am especially impressed by the sharp socioeconomic commentary at work, the positioning of these families as upper middle class comes off as very deliberate.

“At that time in my personal life, I was coming to grips with the end of the world. The familiar world, anyway. Many of us were.
Scientists said it was ending now, philosophers said it had always been ending.
Historians said there’d been dark ages before. It all came out in the wash, because eventually, if you were patient, enlightenment arrived and then a wide array of Apple devices.
Politicians claimed everything would be fine. Adjustments were being made. Much as our human ingenuity had got us into this fine mess, so would it neatly get us out. Maybe more cars would switch to electric.
That was how we could tell it was serious. Because they were obviously lying.”

if you struggle with mental health, one piece of advice i would genuinely give you is learn to knit.
or crochet: something repetitive to do with your hands, assuming you're capable of it. if you're like me and learnt to knit as a kid but let it lie fallow for a long time, it may be that starting a large, simple project (for me it was a cloak, but a blanket could work too) gets you back into it. or maybe doing something smaller, idk. i personally found socks really hard for a while because they felt smaller than my cloak but weren't getting Done quick enough for me. as i've sped up i find it more interesting to knit socks.
regardless, a repetitive task is great for emotional regulation (also see: autistic stimming), and something that you can look at and go hey i've done something, unlike simply using a fidget toy, can also help to pick your mood up when the brain is being cruel.
it's also useful as a conversation starter or distracter if you don't know what to talk about. if you're wanting to talk to older people also you're more likely to reel them in with knitting (i work better with older people, and 99% of people who ask what i'm knitting are older than me). it also gives you the opportunity to not make eye contact because you're busy knitting, even if you're still carrying on a conversation. if you're absolutely stuck for conversation you can count your stitches and people might stop bothering you.
if you have trouble focusing without doing something with your hands, you can knit! i knit a lot in church, and it helps me to focus on what's being said.
i probably have more reasons you should pick up knitting, but i can't recall them right now, so yeah.

maybe this is the end of everything but also, maybe this is the beginning. maybe in 1000 years people are gonna look back and go 'oh what archaic times. they were so mean to each other.' what if there IS a future without war, without oppression. what if there's a gentler world out there waiting for us to catch up. what if --oh God-- what if the meek DO inherit the earth? what if everything changes? what if we heal?

So glad she got away from the dude. And the church coming out to support her instead of just pleading for her to stay because...... "divorce makes Jesus sad" is a pleasant surprise.

We live in “a dark and toxic world,” a world unfriendly to moral living. TV programs make fun of rules and moral behaviour. Children are often ridiculed for doing the right thing. There is only one way to set our moral compasses in the right direction. That is to seek God’s way. Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs. 22:6.
Keep an eye on what your children are watching, listening to, and playing with. Kids today are bombarded with TV, movies, reels and videos that emphasize violence, nastiness, and cruelty. Those things affect them and they tend to imitate what they see.
Parents have a serious responsibility to their children the words of Jesus and nurture their children’s moral character. The world and its ways can easily sweep away our children from the truth. But God’s word will light their path forever. Teach them the word of God.

I have asked everyone to read Revelation 21 if they wanted to know how this movie ends 👇
Revelation 21: 1-8 states:
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away (vanished), and there is no longer any sea. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, arrayed like a bride adorned for her husband; and then I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “See! The tabernacle of God is among men, and He will live among them, and they will be His people, and God Himself will be with them [as their God,] and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be death; there will no longer be sorrow and anguish, or crying, or pain; for the former order of things has passed away.” And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also He said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true [they are accurate, incorruptible, and trustworthy].” And He said to me, “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the one who thirsts I will give [water] from the fountain of the water of life without cost. He who overcomes [the world by adhering faithfully to Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior] will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son. But as for the cowards and unbelieving and abominable [who are devoid of character and personal integrity and practice or tolerate immorality], and murderers, and sorcerers [with intoxicating drugs], and idolaters and occultists [who practice and teach false religions], and all the liars [who knowingly deceive and twist truth], their part will be in the lake that blazes with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
It's NOT the end times, it's the end of an age which the Book of Matthew speaks about repeatedly. Go read 👀 that.
This IS the greatest time to be alive in all of History combined and most of you are sleeping right through it. 🤔

1 John 3:1 (FBV). [1] Look at the amazing kind of love the Father has for us! This is why we can be called God's children—for that's who we are!”
1 John 3:1-3 (NLT). [1] “See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him. [2] Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. [3] And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure.”

How many mothers are truly appreciated? I have seen many children holding grudges against their mothers often blaming them for their personal failures. Children fail to understand that mothers receive no training to be mothers. It is mostly on-the-job training. I thought that the early part of motherhood is the toughest. But handling teens is even tougher. Mothers aren't perfect but they try their best and many a times sadly fail, resulting in moments of despair, despondency and desperation. Motherhood is not for the faint hearted. Mothers need a whole lot of grace, God's help, courage and persistence. Godly mothers fight their battles on their knees. They are totally dependent on Jesus, their Miracle worker. They see hopeless situations turn around. They see victories won through their fervent prayers
Your mother has fought battles you know nothing about. She gave her all to raise you.
Would you be grateful for the mother God has given you?
Proverbs 31:28"Her children rise up and call her blessed.

I have no meme making skills and I have no real reason or need for this meme but it would be pretty dope to have one on hand that follows the Drake format where the first one he’s waving off goes ‘Would you love me if I was a worm?’ and the second one is he smiling and pointing at ‘Would you not be afraid if I was a Biblically accurate angel?’

People want all the benefits of Christianity without all the repenting of sin, putting it to death and trusting in Christ part.
