D-2 --> prompt 4: “Why is there a candy cane… where candy canes shouldn’t be?”

you didn’t really know what to think

sure sure

it’s the most wonderful time of the year

with winter and the holidays

but uhhh...

the candy cane was a bit alarming

especially since it was

... 

not where candy canes are normally....

a single candy cane was on your pillowcase 

(lol what did you think I was insinuating)

“Why is there a candy cane... where candy canes shouldn’t be?” you ask yourself aloud

investigating closer you see there’s a little post-it wrapped around the candy cane

taking the note off

you squint your eyes to read the handwriting

“To y/n who is sweeter than candy (sorry Jun-hyung made me say that) follow the candy canes for a surprise!” 

you look around

there aren’t any candy canes anywhere though...?

you huff

it was super cute to put together a scavenger hunt for a holiday surprise

but it didn’t really seem character for your boyfriend

you giggle a bit to yourself

as you imagine the twelve other boys who must have helped him plan this

but for now 

time to follow the peppermint road

heading downstairs

you look around for any sign of a candy cane

“That’s why he bought all those candy canes.” you remember when he bought a box of 24 without offering you one

“You can eat them later not right now.” he had said pouting when you tried to steal one

looking around 

you spot a suspicious package under the christmas tree

normally all the presents would be under it by now

but Hansol was never really on top of holiday shopping XD

he always did it last minute

you spot the two candy canes taped together to form a heart

the candy canes sat on top a small gift bag

and you reach for the note on the candy cane to read the post-it note

“You can open this :) it’s a hint for where to go next.”

you see a plushie kitten

a fluffy soft brown kitty

so cuuuuuute 

you’re melting

how is this a hint though?

“If I were Hansol Vernon Chwe... what would I think?” you giggle to yourself

you recall the trip to the mall last week where you and Hansol had seen the plushie

he must have remembered you thought it was cute

and bought it for you

“Come on kitty, let’s go to the mall.”

once you got to the mall

there he was

you ran up to Hansol 

throwing your arms around him

hugging him tight

“Hey y/n!” he laughs hugging you also and kissing your forehead

“I got your note and the gift.” you hold up the kitten plushie, “Thanks Hansol.” ^~^

“There’s more actually.” he laughs taking your hand in his

gently he intertwines his fingers with yours as he leans in pressing his lips to yours

soft lips touching yours

and although it was cold

you felt a light and warm tingling feeling spark on your lips

as your cheeks burn up blushing pink

“I missed you.” he smiles ruffling your hair playfully when he pulls away

“I missed you too.” you grin, “Also there’s more?”

“Yep, it’s a holiday adventure let’s go!”

he pulls you along

hand-in-hand

as you walk together on the streets to the first destination

it’s the ice cream shop 

where you both had your first date

glancing up at him with bright eyes he laughs

“Let’s go in.”

“We aren’t buying ice cream right? It’s freezing.” you joke

“Hey any season is ice cream season.” he chuckles

when you both go in the lady behind the counter welcomes the both of you

and from behind the counter she pulls out a candy cane

“Oh!” 

wrapped around the candy cane is a little charm bracelet

with only one charm so far

 an ice cream charm

it was silver and elegantly carved with the date of your first date

“Oh my god, Hansol this is so beautiful.” you say turning it over in your hands to get a better look at it

“I told you it’s an adventure right? Well I thought, what better place to start then here.” he blushed rubbing the back of his neck

“I love it.”

“Good.” he said kissing your cheek

“Since when were you this cheesy though.” you tease

“I don’t know, but we should hurry, there’s other places to go.”

“Wait really?” and just like that he was pulling your arm again out the door and down the street

you both visited the christmas tree by the coffee shop where you both first met

and there on the tree was a candy cane with a coffee cup charm on it

and the adventure continued from there

going around town

to the various places that mattered in your relationship

where you first kissed

fun date places

and each stop had a candy cane and a charm

your bracelet began to feel heavier with all the little charms here and there

the library where you both studied for finals together

the thai restaurant that was always a friday dinner favorite

anywhere and everywhere

you were honestly so surprised

it must have taken him forever to set all of this up

your heart honestly felt like it was going to burst

at one point you almost slipped on ice 

but Hansol kept hold of your arm

so you both fell on your butts

but it was hilarious

and finally it was starting to get late

“Last stop.” he smiles

you look up

it’s the park you both visited during a school field trip

the park’s pathways were lined with christmas lights

beautiful glowing dots spread across the landscape

as you walked with him along the path

and finally reached the little wooden bridge that crossed the little creek cutting through the middle of the park

it was starting to snow

“Is it cold?” he asks you

“I’m ok-” you begin 

but he takes off his scarf faster than you can say anything and wraps it around you as you both stand in the middle of the bridge

the place where he asked you to be his

“I like you, y/n” he had said that day during the school trip so long ago, “And I was wondering if you wanted to be my girlfriend?”

you look at the railing of the bridge 

there a candy cane is taped to the railing

bringing out one from your collection of many

you place a second candy cane next to it 

making it into a heart

and turn back to Hansol who’s smiling at you so fondly

“I got you something...” you laugh, “Since you gave me such beautiful memories and a wonderful gift today.” you raise your hand proudly displaying the charm bracelet

reaching for his hand 

you slip on a silver couple ring onto his pinky

and show him your matching one on your left hand

“I love you, Hansol.” you blush smiling down at your feet

“I love you too, y/n.” 

and there

on the bridge where he had first confessed he had feelings for you

he kissed you softly in the cold winter air

snow flakes swirling around the air around you

christmas lights twinkling in the evening
