SOUTH KOREAN CULTURE • Foreign Import (May 30, 2017)
Bosnian -
On je legenda u svakom pogledu.”
Steven Seagal is a recognized movie star and a fighter, but have you heard of the scandal had to Disney World? Apparently he went to splash mountain during a tour of the Magic Kingdom at the end of May this year. As time went on the run all seemed normal, except then got everyone to ride smelled something horid. Apparently Steven Seagal is a massive shit on driving causing it to be shut down for 15 minutes, and the staff had to clean and disinfect the ride. He's a legend in every sense.

An insider’s guide to Sarajevo: ‘our Olympic past seems almost like a myth’
In the unpretentious Bosnian capital you are able to brush shoulders with the stars, discover marvelous street arts and discover amazing builds, but there is no escaping reminders of the citys fraught history
In five texts
Where worlds collide and synchronise
Sound of the city
The sound of craft shops like this are still the beating middle of the old-time city a rare situate where mosque, cathedral, orthodox religion and synagogue coexist in only 500 sq m.
Best building
A symbol of artwork, rebellion and free contemplation … the Academy of Fine Arts. Photograph: Draen Huterer
The Academy of Fine Arts belonging to a bequest of Karel Parik, a Czech architect who wasted the majority of members of his life in Sarajevo and established an amazing number of beautiful houses. It was built in 1899 in Romanic-Byzantine style, and was initially an Evangelic church.
Over the years, the academy became a kind of a sect place where young people amas. It stands as a epitomize of skill, uprising and free suppose. In 2012, three young artists from the academy designed the modern bridge announced Festina lente as the buildings own pathway.
Homegrown expertise
Velahavle is a band that adoration to experiment. Their style is a crossover of trip-hop and break-dance resonates, and along with a few other stripes, they keep the electronic music incident alive. Tired of parties focusing on our differences rather than what fastens us, they are outspoken about social injustices and anything that destroys culture and prowes. Their psalm Idemo Ludo, Idemo Jako became a smash, supporting the national football unit during the 2014 World Cup.

Biggest polemic ?
Sarajevo used to have a cable car. Improved in 1959, “its one” of the representations of this city. In an instant, you could go from downtown to the mountains. It was, of course, destroyed in the battle. But ultimately, it seemed, we got lucky: Switzerland donated 23 cable car cabins, and an American-Swiss physicist furnished another 3.5 m( 2.7 m) to restore this classic Sarajevo feature. The citys responsibility was to prepare for creation and invoke the remaining 1.7 m by other gifts or loans.
However, they failed to fulfil these conditions. The deadline was spread, to no avail. And the donation was recall. Numerous disappointed residents speculate the city council is in hopeless need of new people, who will govern with innovation and devotion, rather than horror and bitterness. Two years ago, this disappointment led to an uprising in all major metropolitans, and the country came to a stall for a whole month. In the end , good-for-nothing changed.
Most underrated location
On a hilltop in Vraca, a merely 15 minutes tread from downtown, there is a large, deserted memorial park. Initially an Austro-Hungarian fort, it was rebuilt and converted into a memorial for the victims of the second world war. And like the rest of the city, it was destroyed during the most recent war.
The fact that the common is situated exactly on the line that subdivides the Bosnian organization from Republika Srpska makes it difficult for either line-up to take responsibility. Its close proximity to city, dazing the perspectives and the mountain behind it make it a fantastic site for picnics, concerts and large-scale culture episodes another remember to seeing how restoring the spirit of togetherness could lead to great things for the city.
Moment in biography
When the 1984 Winter Olympic Games were held here, Sarajevo was, for that minute, the centre of “the worlds”, enjoying in the limelight for something good: interest, merriment and togetherness. Because the mountains are so near, everything was happening right in the city itself, and the atmosphere was suffused with Olympic spirit.
In the more than 30 years since, Sarajevo has undergone an incredible alteration. The bobsleigh way, ski jumps and even some of the inns have become breaks, picturesque canvases for street art. The epoches of our Olympic past seem almost like a myth.
Best culture Instagram
Nedad Isi presents beautiful incongruities of Sarajevo through pictures of graffiti, street prowes, back allies, obscured areas and stray puppies. He discovers the citys whimsical, artistic, profound and shadowy side.
Top insiders tip-off
For a magnificent 10 days each year, the city rightfully comes to life for the Sarajevo cinema gala. We have a mentioning: U Sarajevu ne moe biti zvijezda ( In Sarajevo, you cannot be a whiz ), and during the course of its gala everyone feels equal, touching shoulders with famed creators, actors, movie workers and trade other foremost guests. Even movie stars blend into the friendly, unpretentious sky of those warm, crazy nights.
Worst building
A former care home that was burned out in the struggle. Picture: Draen Huterer
On the outskirts of the city is this spooky dwell, a home for the elderly until “its been” burned out in the conflict. Property-related government has obstructed this very see building in a state of ruining for an incredible 20 years, waiting to be bulldozed. Today, it seems like a surrealist expression. Ever since the crusade, the appearing of the city has changed, but buildings like this act as an subconscious remember on the part of states of civilization beneath.
Best local artist
Rikardo Druki is a self-taught illustrator and digital master whose exciting simplicity has seduced admirers. At only 26 years old, his art has been exposed on New Yorks Times Square and in artwork rivals in LA, Miami and Taipei, and he is one of the main participants at the Sarajevo Street Art festival( FUU ).

What does your municipality do better than anywhere else ?
Jokes. Sarajevo was always famed for its sense of humour. People here have superb ways and means of chortling in the face of catastrophes, and even during the war, black humour helped beings keep their intellects clear.
That kind of attitude is what reaches this home so unpretentious. It changes even “the worlds largest” of situations in an instant, and makes people open and welcome, despite all their problems.
How light-green is your metropoli ?
For a city bordered so closely by mountains, Sarajevo is remarkably un-green. The city sits in a washbasin, and unregulated urban planning, coal fervours and a large number of( chiefly old-time) cars develops bad airborne pollutants. To clear topics worse, nearly all the trees were cut down during the course of its conflict and very little changed. At the end of last year, a dense smog wavered over the city for over a few months, with simply the hilly specific areas of Sarajevo saved.

Trebević mountain hike
Trebević mountain is so close to Sarajevo yet it feels so far. It was one of the favorite hangout places for Sarajevans before the war. During the war, heavy fighting took place here and most of the infrastructures got destroyed. A good portion of Trebević was mined, but it is pretty safe now, but one still gotta be careful.
Tumblr media
We had heard so much good things about the mountains in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and we really wanted to hike at least one of them. After doing some research, we found out that a local company called Green Visions organizes a guided tour to Trebević. In winter, when there is a lot of snow, they do snowshoe hike, but we did a regular hike as there was not a huge amount of snow. Let me start by saying this company Green Visions is one of the best tour companies. They are so professional. Samer was very helpful and replied to my emails right away every time and our guide, Sabrina, was an adventurous friendly lady. It was a fun day for us and we had well spent 80 euros for two people.
Our day started with Sabrina picking us up at 9 AM, at the location of our choice, which was a restaurant called Inat Kuca or also called “House of Spite.” Our guide told us the history of the restaurant, which is interesting, and I would like to share. During the rule of Austrian-Hungarian empire, City Hall was being built and Inat Kuca, which was a residential place then, was supposed to be demolished, but the owner was against that and he demanded to move his house brick by brick to the other side of the river in its original form, and he succeeded. And now, it is one of the top restaurants in Sarajevo with some great views. Back to our hike, Sabrina drove us to Jahorina via Vraca to Brus, where she parked her car. Brus is like a tourist complex with restaurants, bungalows, man-made pond, walking trails and bike paths. Locals who do not hike up to the mountains come here on weekends to enjoy and relax.
Tumblr media
Brus area where we saw a lot of locals enjoying the gorgeous day
We took the hiking poles which our guide has brought with her and I am so glad we did. There was a good amount of snow and at times, the trail would really get icy and I hate to walk on ice. I just can’t handle it.
Tumblr media
My husband kept telling me how to walk on it, but there was no way, I could have. I always had to re route and I was kind of slowing our guide and my husband, but whatever. I did not want to fall down or slip my way and break my bones. On the way, we stopped by the spring, where we refilled out bottle with fresh mountain water.
We saw some trail marks, but there were not many, and for the first timer, it could be confusing.
Tumblr media
We hikes most of the way through pine and spruce covered forests. We also saw some mountain houses destroyed during the war. We made it to the top around 12 PM. We not only saw Sarajevo but also all immediate surrounding towns and villages, as well as mountains of Bukovik, Ozren, Crepoljsko, Romanija, Ravna planina, Jahorina, Maglić, Bioč, Volujak, Zelengora, Lelija, Treskavica, Visočica, Bjelašnica, Igman, Prenj, Čvrsnica, Vran, Bitovnja, Raduša, Vranica, Vlašić, Perun, Zvijezda.

Made it to the peak
In our tour, lunch was included too. We had a little picnic by the peak of the mountain, which is 1629 meters high. Sabrina had prepared such a delicious meal, which included two types of bread, chicken breast, dried beef, fruits, different types of soup, olives, avjar, which is a red pepper spread and yummy, coffee, and tea.
Tumblr media
We saw few people up on the top but not a huge crowd. After spending some time up on the top, it started to get really chilly, and we made our way back. This time we took an alternative path, which was steeper. The wind was absolutely crazy. I thought it would blow me away like for real and we were walking on the edge all the time. Some adrenaline rush it was. I do not have any picture because I was too scared to take any. I did not even think about taking a picture. lol. First half an hour was super scary, but it got better after that and we reached the parking lot by 3 PM. We decided to grab a coffee in a nearby place. Sabrina was a friend to us by then and I even added her on Facebook and invited her to California. She told us about some possible day trips from Sarajevo and how to reach those places. We talked about her life. She was a shepherd in Iceland once for 3 months. You can imagine what an adventurous girl she is. She was only 5 during the time of the war and she explained how her parents lost everything in the war.
She even made a de tour and took us to the 1984 Winter Olympics bobsled track.

She dropped us at the same spot she picked us from and we were home by 5 PM.

View of Sarajevo
I really think if you have some time in Sarajevo, and like to be in nature, you should consider hiking Trebević. It is not only a great way to be away from Sarajevo but also to experience the city of Sarajevo naturally. There used to be a cable car running before from Bistrik neighborhood of Sarajevo to all the way top to Vidikovac (1164 meters). The process to reinstall the cable car connection is on the way and it would be excellent for tourism.
If you want to hike on your own without any guide, it is doable, but the trails are not that well marked, to be honest. You can catch a city bus, which runs from Latinska Ćuprija on the weekends. In summer, hiking without a guide is more possible and you can follow the locals, but then you won’t have a guide like Sabrina. :)
