Hiyee, BMT!
Have you come across this interview before?
https://i-d.vice.com/en/article/43kb7q/i-con-gus-van-sant
I didn't know Gus Van Sant was intrigued by Jimin! (Though very understandable! hehe) Hope you are doing okay and your inbox is not going too crazy!
Oooh, hello darling @rantingravingliving 🤗
Yes, I have heard of Gus Van Sant mentioning Jimin, but this is the first time I've actually read the full quote and interview. Somehow it fits, like I do see it. It would be amazing for him to photograph Jimin, although I think it will remain on a wishlist. I don't think Van Sant is on Jimin's radar. Or maybe he is. Who knows what else Jimin is into, he's too much of an enigma.
I have this vision though. Have you seen Dolan's The Life and Death of John F. Donovan? I liked the story, but the casting choice was not the best. Now imagine a similar plot, the life and death of a star, but a film made by Van Sant and Jimin to play the role 👀 And he remains this ellusive figure and everyone in his life and his fans have all different versions of him.
Tumblr media
P.S. I am doing ok, I'm excited to finally get on full Jimin mode this month, while dodging and selecting whatever seems reasonable in my inbox and hope for some good vibes here during this period.

Zaylor Midnights, Part II
And we're back! If you haven't yet, please peruse the disclaimers I covered in Part 1.
Let's jump right in!
8. Vigilante Shit
Here's where we start to get some more Catwoman vibes on this album.
"Cat eye sharp enough to kill a man"
Also some generic Gaylor lyrics:
"I don't dress for women / I don't dress for men" Oh so you're bisexual? Okay got it. Case closed.
"Picture me thick as thieves with your ex-wife"
Also the implication she fucked Scooters wife is too funny to not mention. She loves a divorcée ;)
9. Bejeweled
Initially I was fully prepared to write this one off as a song about Jake or John or even Calvin and therefore irrelevant to Toë, but holy crap is this MV gay as hell.
Opening, of course, with the scene where Laura Dern satirizes the concept that a proposal from a prince being "the best thing a girl could hope to achieve"
Note this Kravitz quote from the earlier GQ article:
Tumblr media
We'll come back to this later.
Anyway, Taylor plays Cinderella in this music video, who rejects the proposal from the prince (played by Jack Antonoff, who has the same initials as Joe Alwyn), impresses the Princess (played by Zoë Kravitz) with her burlesque routine she learned from queer burlesque icon Dita Von Teese, and ends up taking the castle for herself.
Basically, another song that has nothing to do with Zoë but is extremely gay (in context of the music video, at least)
10. Labyrinth
I go back and forth on this song. I've heard other people theorize that it's about trying to end a relationship and then falling back in love with the same person again, which I think is a totally valid interpretation. It could be that.
However! It sounds to me like it's about the feeling of finding yourself falling for someone new and your traumatized brain is so focused on what could go wrong that you get completely ahead of yourself and start mourning a relationship that hasn't even started yet. Taylor is a Cancer moon, which is a moon sign that is deeply introspective and retrospective. The "labyrinth of my mind" could be referring to the twists and turns her mind takes to convince her that every relationship will end in catastrophe based on the way past relationships have panned out. Past becomes present becomes future in this song. Maybe it's about finding her connection with Zoë after the fallout from a Karlie or Lily breakup? Maybe Joe cheated on her and she found comfort in the arms of Zoë and they became a polyamorous couple? Who knows.
11. Karma
EDIT: I've found some articles claiming Zoë is a songwriter on this one and others that do not mention her. I believe there was initially a mistake on the Apple Music pre-release info, so for now we'll say she's not in a fact a cowriter for this song.
Taylor Swift clearly has a complicated relationship to gender and womanhood. Many of her friends called her "king" in their 2021 birthday posts:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Dear Reader, she explicitly refers to herself as a "cursed man."
Queer women also tend to have complicated relationships with gender due to heteropatriarchal society. Some lesbians and queer women use he/him or they/them pronouns for any myriad of personal reasons. It's not too far-fetched that these women could possibly call each other by male pronouns/adjectives sometimes.
Zoë had this interview where she talks about High Fidelity, identifying more with male roles because they're often written to be more complex and nuanced due to misogyny in film/tv, and how passionate she is about how "women can be fuckboys, too"
"Karma is my boyfriend" but also "Karma is a queen" >>> "Karma" is both genders and neither gender. (Note: Zoë has a tattoo of a crown on her finger)
"Sweet like honey, Karma is a cat" First of all, that's pussy babe
Also, these two stone cold weirdos apparently have the same method acting technique:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Flexing like a goddamn acrobat, me and karma vibe like that"
What else could "flexing like a goddamn acrobat" refer to other than Zoë playing a superhero famous for her acrobatics (and/or Taylor being in Cats (2019))
Tumblr media Tumblr media
these two weird Sagittarius girls love to simply vibe together as cats or otherwise
Tumblr media
"Karma is the guy on the screen coming straight home to me"
Tumblr media
Not "Catwoman of my dreams" but "CAT WOMAN OF DREAMS" this girl is horny as hell and loves dreaming about women
Sweet like JUSTICE = another batman reference, of course
12. Sweet Nothing
Written by William Bowery who we think could be Zoë
Zoë also lived in London from 2020-2021, she could possibly have gone on holiday to Wicklow (in Ireland) after filming for The Batman wrapped
Taylor made her meals throughout covid isolation and a birthday dinner in December of 2020. Nice to Have a Friend in your pods with you, huh ladies?
Tumblr media
Also, remember when Zoë crossed the picket line for the Oscar's party and then made a "joke" about the Will Smith situation being uncivilized? This is a song about a couple of out-of-touch insanely rich girlies who just Can't Be Bothered and also happen to be in love
Speaking of which, if this is in fact a song about Joe Alwyn, it's a (pretty) lie. "All that you ever wanted from me was nothing." Being in a relationship with Taylor has gotten him movie/tv roles, a Grammy, etc. He's gained so many accolades just by being associated with Taylor. If he doesn't want any of that, why does she keep jeapordizing her own image as an artist to get him awards? Zoë likely genuinely wants nothing from Taylor because she's been famous her entire life. She doesn't need Taylor to pull any strings for her to get roles or accolades.
13. Mastermind
This song is Taylor being very tongue-in-cheek about how this lover she's been singing for four albums about is actually a target she decided on long ago
Starts with a hand touch in a crowded room (obvious Gorgeous reference), that Bowery hangout did look awfully crowded, didn't it?
Dominoes cascaded in a line >>> hair falls into place like dominoes (Gold Rush)
All the wisest women had to do it this way / WE were born to play the pawn in every lover's game (as in, WE women are forced to play these roles)
Two lines that could reference Zoë's tattoos:
"I'm the wind in our free-flowing sails">> Zoë has several pirate themed tattoos
"And the liquor in our cocktails" >> "être toujours ivre" (always be drunk) tattoo
-----
And that's it for the 13 original Midnights tracks! Part 3 will be looking into the 3am tracks.
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3

Black Music Artists Changing The Game For The Community
Tumblr media
You often hear about popular music artists making donations or doing charity work, but some take it above and beyond. There are Black music artists who are not only leaving their mark on the industry but their communities, as well. Some are on the grounds of their hometown supporting programs and initiatives, while others are giving a voice to those leading the charge. No matter what they're doing, they're using their platform to make a better world for their Black brothers and sisters.
Here are some Black music artists who are flexing their influence to give back to their community.
Tumblr media
Kendrick Lamar
Hip-hop icon Kendrick Lamar is known for capturing the Black community through his music and giving back. The "Alright" rapper has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Compton Unified School District's various music, sports, and after-school programs to keep kids off the streets. He also pledged $50,000 to his high school, as well, and is a regular face in his hometown. His impact on Compton is so significant, that he was awarded a key to the city and named the California State Senate's 35th Generational Icon in 2016.
Tumblr media
Janelle Monáe
The 'I Like That' singer also put together a powerful protest anthem called "Say Her Name," which is a 17-minute long tribute to the Black woman lost to police brutality and racial injustice. It was also a collaboration with the African American Policy Forum. Fifteen music artists and activists were also featured in the song, including Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Zoë Kravitz, and Mj Rodriguez.
Tumblr media
H.E.R.
H.E.R. has given a resounding voice to BLM protestors through her infamous song, "I Can't Breathe," which was released shortly after George Floyd's murder. The "FIght For You" singer told NME her purpose as an artist changed after releasing the anthem.
"At first I didn’t realize activism was part of that purpose but I guess my voice matters,” she says. “I definitely feel a responsibility because I have this platform, but I think we should all speak out against things that we don’t like and things that should change, regardless of where we come from. Hate is hate.”
Now, the Grammy-winning artist wants to focus on expanding proper music education in American schools. H.E.R. is also helping budding female musicians through her "Girls with Guitars" Instagram Live series. The "Best Part" singer recently took home the American Express Impact Award at the 2022 Billboard Women in Music event for using her platform to advocate for women.
Tumblr media
Noname
If it's one thing Noname knows, it's making an impact. The "Montego Bay" rapper's Noname Book Club has been gaining a lot of traction, promoting reading and encouraging support of bookstores owned by people of color. The book club has partnerships with libraries in Oakland, Chicago, and New York City to promote chosen books to readers. Noname is working on getting a physical headquarters for the club with plans to host book drives, meet-ups, free movie screenings, political education classes, food drives, and much more.

The Batman Movie teir list
*to preface these are the movies I've seen which is most of the live action ones and a couple of the animated ones. This list will be in chronological order to the best of my abilities please don't blow a gasket if I fuck something up I'm doing this for shits and giggles*
Alright here we go
1943- Batman: Started it but never got to finish it so need to do that. From what I can remember I liked it, the summary honestly sounds like a blast I'm going to give it B tier for now since I barely remember the little bit of it I have seen.
1966- Batman The Movie: I'm just going to flat out say it, I'm a sucker for the 60s batman and little me had a huge crush on Robin in the series. The movie is ridiculous at times but thats what great about it. Honestly nothing negative to say about the movie it's self. In my humble opinion catwoman in this movie feels like Zoë Kravitz's girl boss catwoman just placed in the 60s and I will stand by this, overall the plot of The Joker, The Riddler, The Penguin, and Catwoman all teaming up was carried out very well and I loved it. It worked in such a stupid way. I'm giving this movie A tier for the bat shark repellent, my old crush on Robin, and the ridiculous dialog.
1989- Batman: OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY I FUCKING LOVE THIS MOVIE TO THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART. This was the first Batman Movie I was ever exposed to at the very mature age of 4. This movie gave me my love of Prince, Michael Keton, Jack Nicholson, and the joker. It was like a gateway drug that got me into the rest of Batman, comics and everything. I owe most of my personality to this movie and Batman Forever if I'm being honest. And if I'm going to get real with yall, Jack Nicholson's joker is to date the best live action joker, no diss to Heath Ledger's because by God do I fucking love his joker but Jack's is just better. Viki Vale is honestly the only female love interest I've been able to stand besides Zoe Kravitz's catwomen (but she's catwoman so it's different). Maybe it's cause she doesn't play the damsel in distrest way up the way Dr. Meridian does idk but Viki Vale is cool. Plot is great little me loved watching Jack Napier fall into the vat of acid after getting shot in the face. Love the museum scene literally the best scene in the movie, parade scene and dancing on the church rooftop are for sure head to head for second place. So many iconic lines like "You wanna get nuts?! COME ON LETS GET NUTS!!"(later referenced to in the Lego Batman Movie) "We're like beauty and the beast, of course if anyone else calls you beast... I'll rip thier lungs out" and, "And where is.. the batman?? Huh? HES AT HOME!! WASHING HIS TIGHTS!!" this movie is S tier.
1991- Batman Returns: AND SO DOES MICHAEL KETON! Secon Batman Movie ever exposed to so this one holds a special place in my heart as well. Batman and Batman returns were like the only two Batman movies I watched from ages 4-6. Love Danny Devto as the Penguin, LOVE LOVE LOVE Michelle Pfeiffer as catwoman but I heard somewhere they had to like shrink wrap her into the costume which sounds like absolutely horrible. I call this movie a Christmas movie around my family as an excuse to not watch Elf for the 500th time around the holidays so that's a plus. Nothing much else to say, A tier.
1995- Batman Forever: OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY I FUCKING LOVE THIS MOVIE TO THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART Pt2. Love Jim Carrey's riddler idfc what you guys say he is a gay icon who also has many iconic lines like "Joygasam!!" "Ya like the new sweater?? It keeps me safe.. when im... JOGGING at night." And "You were supposed to understand🥺.... I'll make you understand😡". But I HAted Val Kilmer as batman, he gives me the ick, never heard of him out side of this movie and he seems like a decent actor but he just couldn't do this. I will agree with yall on the fact that the writing is absolutely horrid but like with 66 batman is works sometimes but Val just doesn't make it work. Coming back to Chase Meridian, do not like her character, pointless besides love interest, points out the very obvious about two face and his coin. Not cool. For more info on two face in Batman Forever and a little glimpse at my feeling for Harvy Two-face in the dark night reffer to this meme.
Tumblr media
He is an alpha male bicon that's all, overall, A tier movie.
1997- Batman and Robin: 😐 D tier. Make it less sexual, idc if poison ivy's thing is manipulating people with love/plants other adaptations can do it I'm begging for it to be the norm. Batnips aren't cool, robin ain't it in this movie or batman forever. I also forget that bane is in this movie cause he ain't it either

What's your opinion on the new Batman movie, and If you didn't watch It yet what are your expectations??
I'm trying to go down all my asks and start at the bottom to answer but while scrolling this jumped out at me
I loved it! It was a fun retelling of Batman because it wasn't the origin and it wasn't when he had control over his playboy persona. This was Year Two Batman in his prime and I absolutely adored that the Riddler was the main villain and that people got to see he isn't just a fun gimmicky villain. There's a reason why Gotham fears him. Also just the little details made me happy!
The fact that his suit is reminiscent to the Batman: Arkham Knight one was just 🤌 *chefs kiss* beautiful.
And let's not forget the little callback lines to his overall history of the character with Rob! Bat's first line in the suit that we see him is "I am vengeance." Which is a callback to the Kevin Conroy iconic line "I am vengeance....I am the night... I am BATMAN" and of course Penguin calling Batsy "the world's greatest detective" they are small things but they made me so happy!
The mention of Blüdhaven!!!
Back to Riddler! LET'S TALK ABOUT HOW THEY ACTUALLY HAD HIM CALLED EDWARD NASHTON! His real name before he changed it! I don't know why I love this so much but I do. I also love how they inspired him off famous serial killers (i.e. Zodiac) because honestly that's what made it feel all the more real. Idk how to explain it better but it does immerse you better into the world, or at least it did for me. His character was so well done! And it showed how extreme people can go, even to domestic terrorism.
The fact that Gordon is still only a lieutenant!
THE WHOLE DANG INSPIRATION THAT WAS PULLED FROM EARTH ONE
The Batmobile. I just like the fact they brought back the flame coming out the back XD
I mean the fact that Rob! Bruce made journal entries! As that itself was a thing in the beginning of Project Batman!
ZOË KRAVITZ 🤌
Also the fact that it looks like he used Venom during the big finale to help him fight. It wasn't confirmed to be Venom but....
The fact Bruce listened to Nirvana? Brill
The soundtrack? Brill
Bruce is a hot mess and I'm here for it! This is the kind of man who thinks taking in a newly orphaned kid while he's still dealing with his own trauma is a good idea. This is the Batman who would get bullied into training said kid into letting him be his sidekick.
I love him your honor.
One note. HATE THE LOOK AT THE JOKER WE GOT or who they say will develop into the Joker but I can go into that separately if y'all are interested

Top Colleges That Attract Celebrity Kids (and Regular Folks Too)
Tumblr media
The world of celebrity offspring can seem shrouded in privilege. From jet-setting vacations to exclusive private schools, it's easy to assume their paths to higher education are preordained. But the reality is often more nuanced. While some celebrity kids do attend elite institutions, the landscape of top colleges in the United States caters to a wider range of applicants, including those with famous last names and those with stellar academic achievements, regardless of background. So, which colleges are popular choices for celebrity kids? Here's a glimpse into some of the prestigious institutions that have graced the hallways with the sons and daughters of Hollywood A-listers and music icons: - Ivy League Institutions: Universities like Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Brown, Dartmouth, and the University of Pennsylvania remain at the top of the list for many aspiring students, celebrity or not. These institutions boast a long history of academic excellence, renowned faculty, and a feeder system that often leads to prestigious careers in law, medicine, business, and government. From Dakota Johnson at USC (though not technically Ivy League) to Emma Watson at Brown, the Ivy League's reputation for rigor and prestige continues to attract high-achieving students, regardless of their family name. - Standout Liberal Arts Colleges: Institutions like Williams College, Amherst College, Swarthmore College, and Wellesley College offer a unique educational experience focused on critical thinking, intellectual exploration, and a well-rounded liberal arts education. These colleges, known for their intimate class sizes and close-knit communities, can be a haven for celebrity kids seeking a more personal and intellectual environment. Stars like Natalie Portman (Harvard) and Rashida Jones (Harvard) opted for liberal arts colleges, highlighting the diverse paths celebrities' children pursue. - Schools with Strong Arts Programs: For celebrity kids with artistic aspirations, universities with renowned arts programs hold significant appeal. Schools like New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts, and Rhode Island School of Design offer exceptional training grounds for aspiring actors, filmmakers, musicians, and visual artists. From Cole Sprouse at NYU to Zoë Kravitz at SUNY Purchase, these institutions provide a nurturing environment for budding stars to hone their craft. - International Universities: The allure of studying abroad isn't lost on celebrity kids either. Universities like Oxford, Cambridge, and institutions across Europe and Asia offer a global perspective and a chance to experience different cultures. Think Emma Watson attending Oxford or Prince Joachim of Denmark studying at Aarhus School of Business. International education provides a unique and enriching experience for students from all backgrounds. It's important to remember that attending a prestigious college isn't a guarantee of success, celebrity or not. These institutions attract a highly competitive pool of applicants, and admission is based on a holistic evaluation of academic achievements, extracurricular activities, essays, and standardized test scores. For celebrity kids, the pressure to live up to their parents' fame can be immense. However, many celebrity offspring go on to carve their own paths, using their education as a springboard for successful careers outside of their parents' spotlight. Ultimately, the choice of which college to attend is a deeply personal one. While some celebrity kids might gravitate towards institutions with a legacy of prestige or strong arts programs, others might prioritize factors like location, size, or specific academic offerings. The key takeaway is that the top colleges in the United States welcome talented and motivated students from all walks of life, including those with famous last names. These institutions offer a rigorous academic environment, exceptional faculty, and a wealth of opportunities for students to explore their passions and prepare for their futures, regardless of their family background.
