tag game ✨
huge thank you to the lovely zey @thasorns for thinking of me. i love you too (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)
1. why did you choose your url?
no one remembers her but claire dearing from jurassic world will always hold a special place in my heart.
Tumblr media
2. any sideblogs? if you have them name them and why you have them.
poomphuripan - the bl sideblog that i started just because my main got deactivated for a bit but i guess for now, it's mostly uppoom and msi-focused. in december, it'll probably be torjj and spare me your mercy-focused. i think i'll probably just be using these for the ql series i have a crazy hyperfixation about.
huiyanan - a pentagon yanan/hui focus sideblog
coryjeacoma - my musical theatre sideblog for random audio bootlegs and sometimes musical gifs
ryuvachirawich - my unused (mostly lakorn) gifs blog for extra gifs i make but that doesn't make it into any main or sideblogs. at first i was trying to keep this sideblog lowkey but then i needed to tag the gifs w my gif tag anyway so i could search for them so disclosing is fine 🤣
3. how long have you been on tumblr?
2014... what do you mean it's been a decade since i started using tumblr.... time isn't real
4. do you have a queue tag?
i tried but i've given up on queue-ing in general so i don't. my tumblr is constantly in two modes: super active or going months without a single post lmaoooo.
5. why did you start your blog in the first place?
i wanted to be where all the gifmakers are but i have too much interests so this shall remains a multi-fandom blog or more like a "whatever media claire is consuming atm" blog
6. why did you choose your icon/pfp?
dirk gently is the single most perfect holistic detective in existence. sometimes i'm too attached to my url and my icon, i don't think i can ever change them. headers i can but i haven't changed my url/icon for 3-4 years i think.
Tumblr media
7. why did you choose your header?
i feel you linger in the air is THAT series for me. dethroned almost every other thai series on my all time fave list (i say almost because bad genius series is still holding its crown well)
Tumblr media
8. what’s your post with the most notes?
i just checked and apparently it's my first and only merlin gifset 😅
9. how many mutuals do you have?
i have no idea but i love all my mutuals (づ ̄3 ̄)づ╭❤️~
10. how many followers do you have?
i hit 1k recently. crazy to me because i've left this tumblr empty for months before starting being active again last october???
11. how many people do you follow?
4000+ but that's only because i'm too lazy to unfollow people. so yea i rarely see things on my dash. i just end up scrolling through my fave gifmakers tags to find things they make.
12. have you ever made a shitpost?
i don't think so????? i mean the closest is probably me saying super random things on this tag.
13. how often do you use tumblr each day?
it used to be once a week... but these days it's really a daily routine lmao. although i'm pretty sure i'll leave my tumblr dusting once my stand-in ends... who knows... we'll see...
14. did you have a fight/argument with another blog once?
how can i? i'm so non-confrontational, i reblog things in private to argue with op 😭 lmao (arguments that op will never see lmao, i'm saving them and me both the trouble really). just enfp things.
15. how do you feel about ‘you need to reblog this’ posts
huh why do i never get them on my dash (⊙x⊙;)
16. do you like tag games?
sometimes i forget but i love being tagged in them because i get to know about all the great mutuals i have on here, especially music tags because i always get incredible new music recommendations
17. do you like ask games?
apparently i had my asks closed without knowing for quite some time so i haven't received asks for so long. maybe one day i'll do them but i have bad records of answering asks so ƪ(˘⌣˘)ʃ
18. which of your mutuals do you think is tumblr famous?
i'm not sure if being THE certified way apologist/way gifmaker qualifies her as tumblr famous but maybe sasa @zhouxiangs is the most famous mutual i have
19. do you have a crush on a mutual?
let's call this mutuals whose editing skills i wanna steal (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)
lana @sherrymagic whenever you see me reblogging lana's joe sets every week, you'll see me gushing about the consistency in her coloring and that's because that's something i'm obsessed with, especially considering my stand-in's grim/dark cinematographic coloring. also i don't know how lana chooses the perfect lines from each eps to do her recap sets because most of the times i can't even choose between which scenes to gif.
eva @alienwlw eva makes the most beautiful lyrics set and is willing to do my most niche requests and i'm always looking forward to seeing her gifs because it's always so warm and grainy and crisp and i'm just like wahhhh *heart eyes emoji* every time
20. tags?
no pressure tagging anyone today ヾ(⌐■_■)ノ♪

..hello🥹
so I am wanting to get back into writing & I realised how much I want to re-write the girls.? So I’m thinking of re-creating the girls from the beginning?? is that bad? does anyone still read oc’s? it is kind of self indulgent so I think I might & Zhouxia is going to be my first re-write & then possibly move onto the rest of the girls… but I think because I became friends/friendly with so many oc creators that I put so much pressure on myself & I felt like my real life was such a mess that I really couldn’t do it. I was honestly thinking of getting back into my fsm days (on my other acc) and it’s something I’ve thought of so much so idk I hope you guys are still around🥺
if not I mean, this started as a way to create my own universe & readers/likes/reblogs was always meant to be a bonus but ummm hi? Thankyou for still loving my girls

How do you think Wang Zhouxia sounds for the name of a chinese girl? I came up with it years ago for an AU of a canon character, but plan to remake her as an oc. I'd like to hear your opinion on it or perhaps some suggestions for a girl who is soft spoken and maternal. Xiazhou was actually supposed to be her given name, but midteens me fucked it up. But idk now. After reading your post I figured you would have valuable insight.
Based on sound alone it sounds fine. What characters did you have in mind for Zhou and Xia? I can guess 王 for the surname.

In A Dream The New Cut
Tumblr media
synopsis: Dream feels like home again
note: enjoy your surprise everyone, and it’s less than 1k words
Fans sat cooing as they watched the members of Dream speak about each other, many taking note of the VCR recording showing moments of music videos that featured Zhouxia. Watching with sparkling eyes the theatre crowd let out a collective cry as Haechan leant forward and tucked a piece of long brown hair into place on the only female member of NCT.
The screams became deafening as she laid a soft kiss on the boys hand as he walked away,
Ah, now I get why Jisungie said it felt weird. Hello, I am NCT Dream Zhouxia, I missed you. I feel like right now I’ve walked into my home and you can hear the sound of laughter and it just smells like your favourite place you know?
She smiled and shook her head as the scene cut to them practicing for the show. Voices overlapped each other and music played through speakers as you could see sweat forming on the boys. You could clearly see the girl recording them on a phone at times and at others counting the beats as they danced without music but sadly her not joining in.
Why am I not on stage? There was a lot of things that led to a really hard time with the members… And it took me so long to even think I was worthy of any kind of love from them with a lot of what happened.
She looked down as she heard her own voice waver and tears built up, so strongly you could see the glassy look through the camera,
I will always be there cheering them on but I think that for these shows I was okay with just waiting a little longer, I don’t think I was ready to be on stage but I felt ready to come home again.
Her laughter rang through the speakers as she watched them practice on the stage, catching the eye of Renjun as he moved away from an overexcited Chenle, opening her arms as he walked closer the two stood holding onto the other as she brought out an electric fan from her back pocket of her shorts and fanned him as he closed his eyes,
Xia, sighed Jaemin as he looked into the camera, Xia was the reason that Dream was formed. Mark kept us strong but she made us a team. She always knew what to say, she worried the most about all of us. I remember, Jeno laughed as he began to smile at the memory, I remember when we were preparing for chewing gum, she would show up to practice with a new flavour and she would make a game out of a lot of things because we were always so worried and scared.
Everyone always said that as the leader of Dream it was up to me to help everyone but I honestly think, like with complete honesty, that we only became so close because we had someone like Zhouxia. Mark shook his foot as he tried to think of what to say, Yeah… we are Dream because we were loved so strongly by her. We were made to be a team but because of her we became a family, nodded Jisung as he smiled looking at the camera lens.
You could see the staff yelling for everyone to get in position for the next number, but as each of them passed Zhouxia they leant down so she could place a gentle kiss on their cheek and each of them nodded as they walked off. The camera cut to her watching the stage rise as cheers filled the ears of the silent theatre, a single tear captured rolling down her cheek as she nodded to herself and closed her eyes.
I remember when Mark was talking about his graduation and we never thought that all of us would be able to be a whole group again and I remember him speaking about so many fears and that’s when I wrote the last line of Dear Dream. Because no matter what we do or where we go or who we promote with, Dream is forever. Dream is that constant star that will never burn out or fade away and we will always love you czennie and we know that you will always love us. Nodding she blew a kiss as she let out a gentle laugh to mask the emotions that were coming to the surface.
The theatre cheered as the next VCR appeared with them all standing together in white, so many fans felt their hearts gluing back together as they watched them all walking and standing together. The promise weighing largely in the rooms around the world, the smiles that were shared were so full of love that fans couldn’t help but smile too.
As the credits in the theatre began to roll, Mark’s ending of Dear Dream had an extremely light overlay of Zhouxia twirling around and smiling at the camera. The movie ending with a final cut of her reaching out her hand waiting for someone to grab hold as her eyes lit up with a spark that a lot of dreamzens hadn’t been able to witness in years.

i really wanted to post something for xia with jjong because he is so meaningful to zhouxia (and also to myself..) but i know it can be hard for a lot of people so i’ve decided to place it in the drafts and develop her current storyline more and then revisit it! i had an ask recently about why i dance around mentioning him and i’m trying to accomodate for a lot of people who may interact so please understand that whilst i would love to exclusively drop chapters with the two and their bond i think i may need to hold off a little but i promise to get to it eventually xx

Growing Up
Tumblr media
synopsis: An older member of NCT makes a visit into his mind of how little Zhouxia used to be  June prompt 3 “you made her cry! Come here baby”
note: my first time doing a work where it was kind of an outside looking in? it’s a very late edition into the June prompts.. I forgot i had it half saved I apologise!
Doyoung was regretting almost every choice he had made that led him to this. He really thought that he would be a nice older brother to take all the young ones left out for a break and now he was stuck in a room with a bunch of screaming teenagers. A simple game had turned his once peaceful dorm into a warzone and no one was around to help him calm it down. On one side you had a overdramatic screeching Haechan and on the other a once calm now tearful Zhouxia with a screaming Jaemin.
“Ya! You lost fair and square, why are you being such a sore loser!” “It wasn’t fair you ganged up on me!” “You started throwing pillows, look you made her cry! Aigoo come here baby Xia, Nana will make you feel better ``''Stop you’re literally smothering me right now…”
Doyoung looked to the last two kids for some help, only to be met with a sleeping boy. How Jeno was sleeping through any of this he didn’t know but he did know that he was having a horrible headache brewing and he needed them to stop.
“Guys. Guys! Stop screaming, you’re hurting my brain” Doyoung scrunched his eyes tight as the room slowly turned quiet, opening his eyes to a glaring Xia and a giggling Haechan. Oh god, “Hyung… how can we hurt something that isn’t there?” “Why you little sh-” “You’re so dead Hyuckie… “
Doyoung was exhausted by the time everyone began crawling into bed, collapsed on the couch he replied to a few texts from other members filling them in on the adventures of the day. Ignoring their snickering comments about how he was babysitting the youngest and how his pain was self inflicted. As he began slowly drifting off he heard whispers break through the silence, sighing in annoyance he stood ready to scold them for not sleeping until he caught himself hearing the hushed conversations,
“-n’t understand why though… Oppa has been so stressed and tired lately and he took us to all those places.” “Zhouxia you don’t have to be in debt to absolutely everyone who does something nice for you. How will you react when we debut and have all those fans? Are you really going to be in debt to every single one of them? There’s going to be thousands of people” “You’re crazy for thinking that I’m even going to make this final line up Jeno… I’m nowhere near talented enough to last with everyone, I walked past Taeil oppa practicing the other day and he started doing all these insane notes and in what world would I be able to fit into a group with someone like that? Or even you guys… Nana barely practiced when he came and he still got amazing marks with everything.”
As Doyoung opened the door slightly, he saw Jeno pull a curled up Zhouxia into his arms. Doyoung wasn’t blind to the fact she was wearing one of Yuta’s oversized hoodies, remembering how the Japanese man had brushed them off when asked how it went missing.
“Xia, if you weren’t good enough you wouldn’t be with us. We wouldn’t let them debut us without you anyway, you make the group.” “You’re being dramatic Jeno,” “I’m really not. How about the fact that you constantly go out of your way to find snacks and get them sent here for Renjun, or how you alway make sure to sit with Chenle and Jisung when they do their school work? And everytime that Mark and Haechan fight you always calm them down too. That’s not even mentioning about how you do things for the hyungs either! You always praise them for how hard they’re working, and you spend all your free time studying Japanese so that Yuta hyung doesn’t feel so alienated being so far from home too. You’re very important to us all” Nodding the young girl seemingly accepted the praise for her heart, despite how uncomfortable he knew she felt.
“Jeno?” Humming, the boy looked at her and smiled his charming little eye smile, the girl finally cracking into her own little one, “Can I sleep with you tonight? Hopefully if Doyoungie oppa see’s in not in the bed he made up for me he’ll sleep in that instead of on the lounge…” Nodding as he stood taking her hand in his own, Doyoung shuffled as he panicked that he would be seen. Watching the two crawl into bed, Doyoung felt himself watch over them until their breaths evened out, counting every lucky star that he was able to witness a moment like that.
As he lay in his own bed, many years past. Doyoung found himself revisiting those times in his mind more often. Of course many things had changed since then, the kids had grown into adults, somehow. And even if he wasn’t always present, he was still proud of how he had gotten to witness it. Pulling his phone from under his mattress he sent a quick message, feeling it buzz as he drifted off, a smile resting on his matured face.
Rest well oppa, I’m glad I got to grow up with you too x

Losing Dreams
Tumblr media
synopsis: The time that the staff fractured the hearts of the 8 youngest members of NCT
notes: okay,, it’s finally here... this was written as i listened to Never Goodbye for like a hour long loop... this is also like 1.8k words which i think is my longest prompt i’ve written which is insane, but i just kept going lmao
The energy surrounding Dream was something that had left a lot of them on edge, with staff seemingly forgetting to let Zhouxia know about scheduling, to her clothes being misplaced and her just not being aware of what was happening every other day. To say she was stressed would be quite the understatement.
It could be understood as they began preparing for their ending concert, as well as the first project of NCT as whole as well, there was a lot going on. It felt good that she was able to share the frustrations with her members, they always seemed to know exactly how to help.
The day started off fairly well, everyone in the dorm was up and in good moods, the sky was filled with a scenic blue that you would think had been painted by the worlds greatest artist. Everything in the day was going smoothly.
As the youngest of NCT arrived to the company, the older members couldn’t help but watch them with looks of adoration and unconditional, unwavering smiles of happiness. It was infectious their happiness, jokes and laughter filling the room with every beat as they all greeted each other so early in the morning.
It was times like this that reminded the older members of how exceptionally young everyone was. As everyone began to get settled in the room, staff began filing in preparing for the briefing of the first whole group project that the young idols and debuting would start preparing for.
Zhouxia’s eyes searched the room, locking eyes with faces familiar and new, she had been so busy focused on little things that she had yet to meet some of the new faces. As her eyes filtered through, she was pulled into attention by Kun as he situated himself next to her, patting her back reminding her of the main focus of their gathering – his eyes promising her that she could interact afterwards.
It was a long and, in her opinion a very boring meeting. Anything that was meant for them she was sure Mark could’ve easily told them all when they were all at their next practice. As the conversation shifted from NCT to Dream, the young members began squirming as the topic of Mark’s graduation was carelessly thrown out into the room.
Mark’s graduation was a hard topic for all of Dream to come around to, Zhouxia herself had found herself consoling the younger two at night and then hiding herself away in the bathroom as she cried with the realisation that she was losing her teammate. She had never really found herself jealous over how Haechan was spread over two units but with Mark leaving she had never wished she was in another unit so badly.
Taeyong, thankfully was able to shift the conversation off the topic as Dream began shifting closer to each other, the young idols moving in a way that they began surrounding Mark as if he was to be ripped away from them in the blink of an eye. As they began to dismiss the idols for their separate schedules, one of the managers approached Zhouxia as she linked arms with Kun and started walking to her bag.
“Zhouxia, a word if you would?”
Nodding, she unlatched herself from him with a promise of returning soon, and began following the staff out of the room. Her direction peaked the interest of Mark as he stood with Lucas and Taeyong talking before Dream dance practice began.
Leading her into a room, Zhouxia noticed some of the more important staff of NCT sitting in the room, her body tensing at each step she took. Turning to face the door quickly, she watched it get closed and all she could do was pray that Jeno or Mark would be rushing through it any second.
“Zhouxia, please take a seat”
“I’m sorry sir, did I do something wrong?”
“No of course not, unless you’ve done something we aren’t aware of? We just wanted to pull you aside for a brief interaction of sorts”
Tangling her hands in her lap away from prying eyes, Zhouxia was reminded of times her parents would pull her aside, speaking harsh words under hushed tones laced with what they always called concern. But she knew better, she knew better then and she was smarter to expect that this wasn’t just something that could be considered brief.
“Zhouxia I’m just going to get straight to the point, we’re moving you out of the dorm. There’s been far too many whispers about your comings and goings and frankly there is too much of a risk that this could badly impact the members of Dream and NCT in general”
It felt as if time slowed, air became a lot thinner, she couldn’t remember a time she left the dorm at a bad hour. She didn’t have any I.O.I schedules anymore, and she definitely hadn’t snuck out with any of the members for late night snacking like they used to.
“-pened within NCT Dream until further notice. Is that understood?”
Her head snapped up so fast she was scared that it would detach, until further notice?
“Pardon…”
“I said, any and all of your schedules unless NCT 2018 project will be suspended – so no Dream schedules until you are told otherwise. This is starting as of the end of this meeting, a staff member will go and retrieve your belongings in the practice room and you are to go to the dorm straight away and pack your belongings. Is that understood”
Squeezing her eyes shut, it felt like the world around her was crashing down.
“But why sir… I haven’t done anything wrong why do I have to leave my boys? My team?”
Scoffing, one of the other mangers rolled her eyes,
“Your boys? Miss Chen are you really putting your own feelings above those of your members?  How could you be so selfish”
“I’m, please that’s not what I meant, I just don’t understand why-”
“Do you have any idea how your attitude has been effecting your members as of late? Not showing up on time to schedules, constantly talking back to staff, even in a setting like this. You’ve upset many fans of late, would you prefer that we make all of the group suffer for your wrong doings? Well Miss Chen?”
Sniffling, Zhouxia shook her head, this was her fault. It was her fault that she was going to be moved out, that she had to take a break. She didn’t want to ruin all their hard work, with Jaemin finally being back with them it wouldn’t be fair if they had to suffer because she wasn’t doing well enough. If she wasn’t enough.
“Zhouxia,”
The first manager spoke to her in the same tone her father used to, harsh words spoken in false comfort,
“Surely you understand why we must do this right? You don’t want your members to suffer, you’re meant to be a family. We’ll explain everything to them, you don’t need to worry but until we have out next meeting, its best you separate yourself, for their benefit don’t you think? It’s hard enough for them to be worrying about Mark’s graduation then to worry the backlash and stress that will be added from the fans with you being around them. They are very young, very impressionable young boys. You wouldn’t want them to be upset with you would you?”
All Zhouxia could do was keep her head down, she shut them as tears began to fall. She just needed to make sure she didn’t cry, you’re not aloud to cry Xia.  Flinching when she heard clapping of hands,
“Well, that concludes with this. Once again well done for all your hard work on Produce and with I.O.I. We never expected you to last to the end let alone come first so everyone here at the company is very proud of you. Zhouxia, it is with this that we trust you will do what’s best for the members of Dream with what we said today. Maybe even turn your phone off for a bit while we let the members know of your little break from your schedules hmm? It should give you some time, the practice schedule for the 2018 project starts in about three weeks”
Standing, Zhouxia bowed and kept her head low as she was shown out of the room and ushered past the practice room where she could hear the music playing already, instrumental version – without her voice. Even in practices already, she wasn’t needed.
As Dream were almost an hour into their practice, Mark was beginning to grow both frustrated and worried with why Xia hadn’t returned to the room. With the track coming to an end, the door opened to one of their managers coming into the room, pointing to Xia’s bag that lay untouched on the floor next to Chenle’s hoodie. Mark stopped dancing as he saw another staff member pick up her bag and grab her bottle from the wall next to where his own sat,
“Where is she?”
At his tone, all members stopped movement, registering that instead of their female member, it was just staff that came into the room. Slowly, they all fell into line behind their leader, Mark wasn’t in the mood for games, they had to practice. And they needed the eight of them, not just the seven. Mark didn’t trust the looks that every staff member in the room was sharing, and the fact that no one, not even Taeyong knew what that meeting was about had him ready to tip over the edge. All he could think of was the worst, and he would start demanding answers if they weren’t given soon.
The female manager nodded towards the other staff as she dismissed them, having them leave the room, it’s not like they would be much use after she spoke anyways,
“You need to practice, you need to give the fans stages they deserve Mr Lee”
“Not until you tell us where Xia is and why she hasn’t returned to practice”
“She’s not coming back”
It was as if they all became submerged in ice cold water, each of them seemingly bristled at the words that filled the room.
“What do you mean? She has practice, we all have practice. Dream has eight members and all of them are required to be here”
Huffing, she pulled out her phone as if she were simply passing time,
“Like I said, Miss Chen will not be returning, she has been pulled from all of Dream’s schedules until further notice. The company will be releasing a statement within a days time. You are all to continue as normal, if I hear anything of you contacting Miss Chen in this time, not only will you be penalised but her schedules within NCT 2018 will be suspended. Is that a good enough answer for you Lee? I have other meetings to attend”
Tensing his body, Mark took a shuddering breath, Jeno stepped forward as he went to speak when a hand was held out stopping him. Renjun wasn’t sure what was going on, but he knew that anything they did would only hurt Zhouxia, not help her.
Whispering he pulled Jeno back to where he stood,
“We’ll talk to her at home, calm down”
As they watched her turn and leave, her last words seemingly put the nail in the coffin of sorts,
“Miss Chen has moved out of the dorms, she should never have been placed in NCT and if her attitude is anything to go by, you will only reap consequences of negative sources if you believe any different. She thinks herself too good to be in this group. In fact, it would be best if you act as if you all don’t know each other - she may not be here with the company for much longer. And I would fix your attitude Mark, you may be a debuted idol now but that doesn’t mean you are safe from speaking out of turn.”
Smiling to herself, the manager left the room. They would learn, they were young and needed to be molded to be perfect idols. They couldn’t do that, in her eyes, if they kept the weight that was Zhouxia with them. Pulling out her phone, she sent a message
She has been removed from Dream, you can pull her from the company when you deem fit sir
Dream’s practice wasn’t finished that day, in fact as soon as the door closed all of them scrambled to their phones sending messages out to all other members and some even trying to call Zhouxia despite the managers harsh warnings.
“Get your things, all of you. We’re not staying here a moment longer”
As the remaining seven ran through the company and pressured their driver to hit the gas, nothing could get them prepared for what they walked into.
Every trace of Zhouxia was effectively erased from the dorm, her toothbrush was gone as well as all her toiletries and every single hairband was gone. Her bed was stripped bare, each hoodie she had borrowed from the members meticulously folded at the end of their beds. Her perfume having it’s last lingering smell.
Jisung was heard slamming open every draw, ever door and heard cursing with every trace of her being harder and harder to come by.
“She’s gone, hyung she’s gone”
Slamming his fist against the wall, he grabbed his phone, calling the only person who he hoped, he prayed would be able to fix this
“Mark?”
“She’s gone, they kicked her out of Dream hyung”
“What”
“She is gone, there’s no trace that she ever even lived with us. They’re dropping a statement saying her schedules with Dream are being suspended... what if they try and kick her out of NCT as a whole?”
“I’ll handle it, we’ll get her back to you all”

Skyfall
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Heights, high emotions and harsh words, the only way that would be able to describe the first practice of NCT 2018
Note: thankyou so much ❄️anon for your request, it isn’t a big piece but I think it delivers a really good insight to how Zhouxia stayed sane in NCT is I hope you all enjoy!
Anyone could see the tension that filled the air in the practice room, it was the first time that all members were present as they prepared for the first project as one. Sat on opposite ends of the room were the members of Dream and the remaining members without a unit. Conversations quieted when new faces arrived, trying to grasp an understanding of what exactly was going on. Even the staff were left in uncomfortable silence as they readied cameras to film behind the scenes.
Zhouxia sat with her back against the wall, viewing everyone through their reflections, she was uncomfortable, and no matter how her new house mates tried, she couldn’t seem to break out a smile, even if she wanted to. Fiddling with her water bottle, she watched as Jaemin got a heating pad placed on his back, he kept rubbing it, she hadn’t noticed him take any painkillers, he probably needed some with how much moving he was doing.
As the teacher called them back into the centre, the youngest members found themselves shifting to not interact as they were pushed to the centre to keep learning,
“Guys, I’m not sure what is happening but I need you to not act as if touching Zhouxia is signing your death wish”
“Feels like it”
Whispered Jeno under his breath as he stood stoic next to the girl as she held her breath trying not to show a reaction to his harsh words.
“Zhouxia, I want you to lean forward more, step onto Jaemin if you must, the positioning is wrong”
Nodding, she changed the incline as she slowly shifted her body weight, she felt his sharp inhale as she adjusted herself to put more of her weight onto his back,
“I’m sorry”
“Shut up”
Lifting her hand, she rested it on Doyoung as she tried to situate herself, praying they could start quickly as she stood.
Taking a break, Zhouxia excused herself out of the room before someone could stop her, shaking her arm loose from Johnny’s grip as he tried to catch her. He sighed turning his face to the members around him,
“When are you going to stop punishing her? She hasn’t done anything and yet here you all are acting as if she tried to murder you in your sleep.”
Johnny’s words were sharp, even Ten who stood there felt himself shudder from his tone. Mark lifted his head, shaking it in disbelief,
“She quit. We made a promise, and she quit. She deserves how everyone in Dream is acting, plus you saw her. She didn’t even hesitate to step up on Jaemin even though he just got back. She should’ve taken a hiatus until she was gone properly”
“Mark!”
Taeyong couldn’t believe what he was hearing, shaking his head he shoved the boy in the direction of the younger ones,
“Mind how you speak about her, you might be pissed at her but if you keep speaking so horribly I won’t hesitate to let one of them hit you like some of them are wanting to right now. Zhouxia is not only our member, but she is still our family. Walk it off, now.”
Mark’s words were left lingering in the air as all ears tuned in to listen to what their leader said, a banging of the door snapped them back to attention as they caught sight of long brown locks retreated out of sight.
Everyone waiting to see who would move first, as Kun ran out, calling her name. No one knew what to do as they waited, no sign of either members and distance being kept between Mark and some of the others from his earlier comments.
Taeil sighed, checking the time on his phone, tapping Taeyong’s arm he called attention to himself,
“Listen, all of you. I’m not speaking as your friend or just your member, but as your older brother. As Zhouxia’s older brother. We are a family. Something has gone on, and no one has the same story so we don’t know what’s happened, but what we do know is that when she walks back into this room, Mark you need to apologise, I don’t care if you mean it or not. You were wrong in what you said. In saying that, what we need to do is get it together so we can finish this before the end of the day because I know I’m not the only one who want’s to get out of here. That girl has been ostracised an insane amount, she has barely breathed without permission because seven of you minimum have made today so much harder for all of us than needed. Either get it together, or get out and learn the dance on your own time.”
As they stood getting back into position, the door opened to Kun leading a visibally reluctant Zhouxia back into the room, without a word, she stood in the centre of the room, waiting for everyone to position themselves before the music ran through the room.
As they made their way into the dance break, Zhouxia felt the wind be knocked out of her as Renjun missed his beat and collided with her. As she fell, she felt a sharp pain spark through her hand as it caught on a nail in the floor.
“Can you not get in the way?”
Renjun’s voice filtered out, sighing she went to stand pushing herself up with her, now bleeding hand.
“Maybe if you paid more attention to where you were meant to be and not spending all your energy being an ass to me maybe you would know how to count your beats”
As the two faced off with each other, Winwin and Yuta quickly moved to seperate the two before they got any closer.
“Okay that’s enough for today. Zhouxia, is that blood on your hand?”
Pushing herself out of Sicheng’s arms she shook her head,
“…..No. I’m fine”
Turning, the girl reached for her belongings before tears broke through, she refused to give any of them the satisafaction of knowing they got to her.
“Zhouxia you haven’t been dismissed come back here, Zhouxia. Miss Chen get back in here you have not been given permission to leave!”
Ignoring the calls, Zhouxia walked out of the room as she hastily made her way to a staircase before tears began to cloud her vision, tripping over her own feet she accepted defeat.
Tears began to rack through her body as she held her hand to her chest and rocked herself lightly, her silent cries soon turned to sobs as she began to lose control over herself.
Arm’s tightly wrapped around her, cocooning her small body into his chest, everything hurt.
“I’m fine, please I’m okay. Just go please go away”
As the arms tightened even more, as Kun’s voiced hushed her. He was all too familiar now of consoling her when she lost the fight of holding in her emotions,
“Come on now, why are you lying hmm? I’ve got you, I’ve always got you… Just let it out”
The two of them sat there as she cried into his chest, slowly the rest of their little team arrived, their hearts breaking as she clenched her hand and cried til her body couldn’t breathe proper breaths.
Winwin opened up his water bottle, with Ten sitting himself on her other side. Lucas pulled out a small pink bandaid that he always seemed to carry claiming it was solely for Xia if she hurt herself, as they huddled together in that little stairwell of their company building - Chenle slowly retreated before he was noticed, even if they never got to be a family like how they were before he wasn’t as scared now that he knew is big sister was going to be okay, he just hoped they would look after her better than they did.

I Am NCT Zhouxia
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Xia fights back for her family, no matter the consequence
note: this is essentially a part two of Losing Dreams but is also the start of her building bridges in nct pretty much.. let me know your thoughts! Don’t forget that June Prompts is open as well!!
A summers storm, the way the rain crashed into the buildings and the sweet aroma of fresh blossoms carried through the air. It was a stand off that many were unaware was building, but if it was one thing Zhouxia could be eternally thankful for, it was the fact that she knew who she was. Even if no one else wanted to see her that way.
It had taken a lot for her to be standing in this room, something she wasn’t sure she would ever be doing but she had grown tired. She was over not being able to speak to her members, she was sick of the snide comments that were passed her way through members of staff. She had done nothing wrong, and if no one was going to let her speak normally, she was going to go straight to the source.
Zhouxia was used to people not liking her, it came with the territory. But this? She was not going to stand for this a moment longer. As she sat in the room, her leaders either side, no one said a word. Only Kun was able to get a glimpse of where her head was, but any question directed towards her was left unanswered.
As the door swung open, a brisk chill floated through the air, visibly Taeyong shivered. The managers eyes carried around the room, nodding to other members of staff before they froze on the young idol. They were aware of the effect of that conversation back in 2018 had landed, and much to their displeasure it hadn’t had the desired effect.
In the case of Dream it had been a slight success, the pushback was harder than what they knew to expect but one day the seven had turned up to practice and she hadn’t been mentioned. In the likes of the rest of them it had been less successful in their eyes. She was still in the group, the company - and she had grown well. Which wasn’t part of their plan.
With mention of a new supergroup, they were holding their breath every time news came back about Zhouxia being approached to join, with her yet to accept. As the managers stood at the head of the table, the two leaders stood to bow in respect. Zhouxia however, simply picked up her phone and scrolled through her notes, not giving them the time of day.
Kun was impressed with how bold she was but still smacked her leg lightly, he had to show he had some kind of control over her. As they prepared to start the meeting, a phone broke through the room, the manager scrambled to silence it, face paling slightly at the contact name.
“You’re more than welcome to answer the call, from experience he doesn’t like to be ignored,” Zhouxia, looked them dead in the eye. As they stuttered over her words, confused, the rest of the table tried to connect the dots. “You think I wouldn’t have made the connection? I may have nothing to do with my family back in China but I’m not an idiot. If you think, for one second that they would risk any kind of negative light into our family stature you were severely misunderstood. So, answer it. Answer his call and put him on speaker because once I’m done with you, you’ll be lucky to be able to still work with NCT in any way.”
Her voice was sharp, and so cold. Everyone in the inner workings of NCT knew Zhouxia’s family was a hard topic to touch on, the young girl herself never mentioned them. They were aware they had a high status back in China, but no one was aware of who they really were. As a trainee, any bill for her was covered within three business days, no matter the cost. She held high grades and underwent many forms of tutoring, her schedule packed like one of a seasoned idol from day one. Her manners were impeccable, and she held herself well for her age. This was a new side of her that no one in the room had seen before.
As the manager was able to turn off their phone, they simply raised their brow at her attitude, “I am your senior, you’re respect is to be given.” Scoffing, Zhouxia crossed her arms, her temper was running hot and her patience thin.
“You don’t deserve respect, you probably don’t even know the first thing about giving respect let alone getting it” She shook of the warning glares from the leaders, she knew that she was going to push it, possibly too far but if she was to leave the company fired today then so be it. She wouldn’t let these monsters hurt her family for one moment longer, NCT was her world. And she would be damned if she let them threaten it
“You sit there acting as if this isn’t your own doing Miss Chen, from memory you agreed to step down as a member of Dream. We didn’t force you”
Slamming her hands on the table, Zhouxia stood with gritted teeth,
“You threatened my family. You threatened me! How can you sit there and think for a moment that every second of pain you have caused to us isn’t your fault. You lied to them, you told those seven boys that I wanted nothing to do with them. That I believed I was too good for them. You turned my best friends against me and threatened them if they so much as looked in my direction. I have been forced to the side of a group I helped create. I lost the most important people in my life, do you have any idea what you did to me?”
“Miss Chen you are simply..” “I am speaking. Once I am done you can open your mouth and try and convince this room of your pathetic lies, until then, you listen.”
At that moment, Taeyong pulled his phone out, hitting record. Because no way was he going to sit here and not document it.
“I sat, for weeks, crying myself to sleep because of what you did. I don’t care what you do after this meeting, hell I don’t care if I’m no longer an idol here after this. You are not going to do this for one second more. If you think, that I will stand for you bullying and hurting my members - you’re more stupid than what I thought. He called me you know, a week after you did what you did. He asked me if I was going to stay, the news articles had dropped and fan’s were at their wits end and he called me and asked me if I would leave. I said no. I told, the most cruel person I knew at that point in time and I told him no. So he told me everything you did, the things you promised. He told me every detail of your little plan. To kick me out, to turn everyone against me, and guess what, it didn’t work.”
Closing her eyes, Zhouxia could feel the tears building,
“I will fight to my last breath to protect them. All of them. They are my family and you will not hurt them, not through me”
“You can’t protect everyone,” the manager muttered through gritted teeth. They’d said the same words once before, but back then they had been malicious and mocking; now they were only resigned and perhaps a little bitter. Scoffing, Zhouxia glanced at the faces in the room, many rendered silent as she dropped the bombshell she had waited for. Slowly ticking down to its final seconds before it exploded.
“Thirty minutes after this meeting concludes, you and every member of staff included will be called for a meeting. At that point, your future not only with NCT but at SM will be undecided. I don’t care what I have to do, I am never letting you near one of my boys ever again”
Turning to her leaders, Zhouxia gave them a full ninety degree bow each, thanking them for coming with her to the meeting. Before she turned and left the room, as she turned the corner her heart felt like it was about to be thrown up. Her hands shook violently and it was like all air escaped her once more. She had never spoken to anyone like that before, let alone someone who had control of her life like that. All she wanted to do was call one of them and have them hold her, helping her gather her mind and soothe her.
Hearing her name get called, Xia turned and connected eyes with Taeyong. After she left, voices around the table began battling with one another, blame being thrown in every direction, all of their phones signalling incoming calls and emails. The power that she held had never been shown in such a way but it was unquestionable the lengths that the managers had gone to to try and get rid of their female member.
Sniffling, Zhouxia fell into his arms, tears finally falling with no consequence. Her voice nothing but a constant loop of apologies, promises to be better, to do better. Hushing her, Taeyong felt like he finally understood the extent of what she had been through. He always thought he would be the person protecting his members, but here she way, risking everything so that none of them ever got hurt like this again. NCT needed her, and he refused to let them lose her , ever.

Lonely
Tumblr media
prompts: “Am I your lock screen?” “You weren’t supposed to see that” + “I missed you so much” + “Give me attention”
synopsis: Zhouxia feels lonely and wishes her members weren’t so far from her
note: okay, so this story was meant to have Lucas as the main but in light of how *some* fans feel I felt it would be best to change it! I apologise in advance for making Xia hurt again lmao
Being busy never bothered Zhouxia, if she was busy that meant she was doing a good job, it meant she was making her members proud - even though they always told her she didn’t have to prove anything to them, ever.
But being busy also meant she didn’t get to see her members. With the moving of dorms, now not having everyone together made her feel lonesome. She always had a member to turn to but with everyone being pulled every which way or finally getting the chance to spend quality time with one another, she felt guilty voicing her complaints.
Zhouxia was very close to her members, how could she not be, so when she wanted to go to a cafe with Ten it always seemed like he had plans with Johnny. Or when she wanted to hang out with Yangyang he was always relaxing with Renjun or Chenle. It seemed like she never fitted the kind of hangout that the 99’ liners always seemed to be having and Kun was always locking himself away making music or enjoying his time with someone and it felt wrong to intrude.
To their credit, her members were always quite in tune with her emotions, they never wanted her to feel like she was a burden but with everyone busy she really wished that Winwin hadn’t been all the way in China at the moment.
She knew what his schedule was like, having received it when he first landed - even so far away he wanted her to know that if she needed him he was always going to be there. And she really needed him.
Noticing the time, she was well aware that the boy would simply be resting at the moment, maybe spending some time with his family, so she sent him a text before she could talk herself out of it
Can I hear your voice?
Before she fully registered what she viewed as the consequence of her action, her phone vibrated with a picture of the two of them from their debut concert came on her screen, taking a deep breathe she formed a small smile swiping across her screen.
“Hi gege! You didn’t have to call so fast, I know you’re probably busy with your family”
“They have me all day, are you okay? Why are you laying in bed, I thought you’d be out with one of the guys?”
Humming, Zhouxia began fiddling with a loose thread on the hoodie she wore, Winwin quickly noticing that it had been one of his - one he hadn’t seen for a while noting it was at the bottom of his closet.
Having the chance now, he began taking in her appearance properly, there were half drunk water bottles behind her, pillows and plushies thrown messily on her bed and she looked tired. She looked sad. And he wanted to know why.
“Xia, was there a special reason you wanted to call?”
Shaking her head, Zhouxia continued to give half responses to him, which was slowly frustrating him. She had wanted him to call hadn’t she?
“Come on Xia, give me attention - what’s wrong? We’re never this quiet when we talk”
As she closed her eyes and sighed, she could feel tears begging to fall, she hated feeling weak, it didn’t sit well in her stomach.
“I miss you, I really missed you okay? I hate not having you home, everyone is always doing something and I don’t fit into anything or any plans and I just wish you weren’t away”
Unbeknownst to the two, Yangyang stood behind her door, it not being completely closed so that the pets could come and go as they pleased. He hadn’t been aware of how she felt, he was certain that none of them were. She always seemed fine when they left or told her that they had plans.
“Zhouxia… have you told them? I know it’s hard to say it but have your tried telling them how you feel?”
Shaking her head, tapping the liquid that had began to fall and settle on her cheeks, Zhouxia breathed in a shaky breath.
“How could I? I barely see any of them, we live together and I can’t even remember the last time I had a proper conversation with one of them. I speak to Shotaro and Sungchannie more than I speak to the people I live with. Do you know how much that sucks”
“How long?”
“Huh?”
“How long has this been happening? How long have you been alone Xia?”
Shrugging her shoulders she tried to count in her mind,
“A few weeks I guess…”
To say Winwin was slowly seeing red would be an understatement, he didn’t know if he was more angry at his members for not noticing, or himself for not being there for her - he promised her he would always be there for her.
“It’s late for you, you should be getting some sleep you’re going on a trip in the morning, I just wanted to hear your voice but seeing you made me feel a lot better gege. I love you”
Sighing, knowing that she was right as he turned his eyes to the top of his screen, noting the time he nodded his head.
“I love you so much Xia, call me if you need me okay? I might be in another country but I will always be there when you need me”
Nodding, she sent him a smile as she ended the call. She felt lighter, not completely okay but better and that’s what mattered right now.
Jumping as a knock sounded on her door, Zhouxia wiped at her face and tapped her cheeks a few times before letting out a soft ‘Come in’
Smiling at the girl, Yangyang wandered into her room, acting like he hadn’t heard her phone call,
“What doing?”
Scrunching her brows in confusion, she waved her hands around the vicinity of her room,
“Literally nothing. What’s up? I thought you had plans tonight?”
Shrugging carelessly, he laid himself down on the lower half of her bed, ignoring the intense buzzing his phone was doing - gathering it was just one of the guys asking why he suddenly cancelled on them all.
“How would you feel about a movie night? You and me, no distractions? It’s been ages since we had a twin night”
Rolling her eyes, she lightly kicked his side,
“You made one of the guys angry didn’t you”
Closing his eyes, Yangyang shot himself up into a sitting position surprising Zhouxia with how fast he moved,
“I just want to spend time with you, go get some snacks and I’ll order us your favourites and we can start that anime you wanted me to show you ages ago..”
Nodding, Zhouxia went to stand - having to push him back a bit so she could unwind her legs from being tangled in her sheets.
She wasn’t sure exactly where this was coming from but she couldn’t deny that a movie night with him wasn’t making her feel a little bit more noticed.
“Sure, but fix up with whoever keeps messaging you, it hasn’t stopped buzzing since you walked in”
Giving her a salute as she departed, he checked his phone
Winwin
He had sent a large quantity of texts essentially calling them all out asking if any of them if they had truly been ignoring their female member, promising that if they didn’t get themselves together by the time they reunited that he would make them regret it and then some.
He shivered, as he read through the statements of his group members not realising how none of them, not a single one had truly spent any time with Zhouxia despite her always checking in with them and seeing what they had all been up to. Hell they hadn’t even registered that she was barely coming out of her room for the last few days.
Quickly locking his phone as she walked back in he made a show of getting himself comfortable in the small mountain of plushies that had accumulated on her bed, smiling when she laughed at him.
Nudging him over she passed him a drink and reached for her laptop turning it on. Yangyang caught her quickly shutting down a tab of what looked like a vlog the group had posted in the year of their debut. Feeling the guilt slowly creep stronger into his heart, he promised himself that he would be more aware of what was going on.
“..yang? Yangyang can you please pass me my phone?”
“Huh? Sure. Hold up, am I your lock screen?”
Shrugging, she ignored the teasing in his voice, replying with a quiet
You weren’t supposed to see that
Yangyang pulled up his camera roll, as Zhouxia searched for food she was craving to get delivered, changing his home screen from a picture of him and the guys when they went out yesterday for lunch to a photo that Ten had taken of the two of them from his birthday last year.
Yes, he was determined to make sure that as long as he stood by her side, she wouldn’t be alone anymore.
As the opening credits started to play for the anime that he had seen countless times, he wrapped his arms around her loosely, curling into her as she linked their hands together subconsciously - a habit she had whenever one of them held onto her. He was going to be a better friend, a better member, a better brother to her from now on.
