Huntikmas Day 7- What kids films and team are scared of

Lok:

Watership Down. I have never met anyone in the UK and Northern Ireland that hasn't been traumatised by this film when the BBC randomly decided to air it on tv again. Its already quite an intense plot line but I think the animation made this film 10x more disturbing to watch.

Sophie:

If you ask her, Sophie hates this film because of historical inaccuracies and playing off conspiracy theories. It definitely has nothing to do with the themes of aristocracy being targeted by dark magic and a young girl being separated from her family with limited memories of those she's lost. Definitely not. She does not cry whilst watching this film.

Cherit:

Cherit spends a lot of his time pretending to be a toy, or a statue. He wonders what else around him is also pretending...

Dante:

Obviously the Skeksis are unnerving but I think that combined with the way essence is described puts me in mind of Metz's curse and his will being drained. I think he can also related to Jen being adopted into being a seeker and having the weight of the world on his shoulders so watching this when he was younger set a really bad taste in his mouth.

Den:

The land before time. Den: "Its just a stupid kids film and its not even good" He's never got passed the mother dying scene.

Harrison:

Okay so Chitty Chitty Bang Bang doesn't start scaring Harrison until after the Blood-Spiral. As a child he thought the concept of the child catcher was ridiculous and the children were just naive for being taken. That is until he joins a magic cult intent on destroying the world because they used his own anger against him and used it to lure him away from his own brother.

Zhalia:

Also the dark crystal. Dante made her watch it to justify his fears and the whole laboratories and skeksis voice thing really puts her in mind of Klaus. I don't think there's a whole lot of movies that would bother Zhalia and I think with how rough her childhood was, she either didn't watch a lot of films or didn't have the capacity to spend emotions on them.

[not technically related though, in current settings of Huntik I have (as in set in 2020's not 2009) when Zhalia and Ryder are teenagers they sneak into a cinema to watch human centipede and given some of the experiments Klaus runs it really freaks Zhalia out. Given that he's trying to raise a spy/assassin he can't really have her being terrified of one film so using scientific logic he decided to desensitise her through repetition. But Zhalia watching HC over and over in that lab may be scientifically sound but not parenting sound so it just becomes a massive trigger for her. fun times.]

[WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN]

Believe it or not, I have two this time that are both related to Huntik: Secrets & Seekers.

• Originally during both development and production of the show's first season, Zhalia Moon's backstory was to never be revealed and she was supposed to be a Huntik agent who for some reason left intentionally ambiguous turned to the other side as an Organization operative.

• Originally with the show's second season, both Sophie and Zhalia would've still had a rivalry with each other since the latter was an Organization spy that had still betrayed them.

Back when I was thinking about starting a Huntik AU, I thought about Heather and Zhalia Moon and how alike they are. Heather spied for Alvin just as Zhalia spied for Doctor Klaus and they both became close to the ones that they were spying on and soon would hurt; that's why I drew Heather in Zhalia's clothing!

If I were to write a HTTYD crossover or AU of Huntik, with Tangled, Brave, Rise of the Guardians and other guests, I would give her a modern look. Along with giving her Razerwhip, Smothering Smokebreath, Changewing and Death Song titan amulets and maybe let her spy for Alvin, Dagur or Viggo.

I got slightly carried away with this, not to mention that it's the first proper piece of fanfic I write in five years... Apparently I just needed the right involvement with the right characters.

Six months later

[Huntik: Secrets and Seekers | Zhalia Moon x Dante Vale | fluff | one shot]

Dante's House, Venice

It was 8am. Sun was shining through the curtains, filling the room with light, welcoming the new day. Dante unconsciously pulled Zhalia closer from under the white bedsheets; both were still half asleep, comfortable in feeling each other's warmth. Things had been way easier for them since the Spiral was fought and defeated. Lok had now enough experience to work on his own and had recently put up his own team. Sophie continued her studies and would sometimes share her work with Lok, as well as her life and home. Dante and Zhalia were taking some short, yet well deserved time off.

Zhalia woke up first. They had been together for a while now. Despite the undeniable attraction, it wasn't easy at first. He was the lone wolf, the charismatic hero always lost in his thoughts, and she was a former spy, used to be alone, not yet accustomed to love and being loved, after all. Going to some explorative missions together, just the two of them, had allowed them to get used to each other's presence. They had, of course, lived together before, along with Lok and Sophie and Cherit as well, but it was different. They were on important missions, then. They were always on the run. They didn't have the time to properly talk about their feelings, let alone live together, though both were fully aware of their strong feelings towards each other. But then everything finally fell into the right place. And they fell into each other's arms.

Zhalia gasped under her breath as a longing caress from Dante interrupted her train of thoughts. She slowly turned her head towards him, smiling innocently as she leaned closer, her back against his chest; she looked him in the eyes, and basked in that feeling of safety that was still so new to her.

"Everything okay?" he smiled, caressing her cheek once again. A tip of malice was in his words, though so loving and tender. "Yeah..." She gazed at his eyes, at his strong figure, dreamily, then back at his eyes again. She couldn't help but smile in return. "I still can't believe you care about me. I am so grateful." A bit of embarrassment could be seen in her eyes for the sudden confession that made her feel vulnerable. Dante took a deep breath, though not interrupting their eye contact. His stare was gentle, yet somehow turned more serious by concern. He wished she could love herself more, and he was surely doing everything he could to make it happen, loving and protecting and respecting and caring for her always - not that it wasn't completely instinctive for him. But the thought of not being humanly capable of completely filling the void that decades of solitude had created in her, made him hurt from an unappeasable desire of being enough. But he'd never told her about it, he never would: it wasn't her fault, after all.

"Zhalia - he said - You deserve it. All of it, all of this." He held her a little closer. "I'm the one who's infinitely grateful that fate allowed me to meet such a wonderful, strong, lovable woman... And that she loves me back!" The love declaration was interrupted by his laugh of pure happiness, and he bent over to kiss her.

I am still thinking that perhaps somewhere, in the perfect universe, the second season was NOT rushed, the third season (with the Blood Spiral) happened and the series was such a huge success that it has received a number of books comparable to a few years worth of Star Wars Legends.

- PREQUELS:

* at least a seven-tome-long prequel series about Dante Vale's beginnings in the Huntik Foundation, featuring Metz, Montehue, Tersly, Master Storm, Lin Storm and a ton of new characters, * at least one trilogy about Zhalia Moon's career in the Organization,

* a prequel trilogy about Eathon, Metz and Simon with a fair dose of Sandra,

* a prequel trilogy about ancient Casterwills which sheds a new light on the third season’s revelations without being absolutely necessary to understand the season’s plot,

- RETELLINGS:

* except that they are QUALITY retellings which have solid writing, make us notice things we did not see before, and expand on the original,

- TIE-INS:

* Diary of Sophie Casterwill which is basically a brief retelling of the first season from her perspective, with her fashion tips, reading lists, personal dramas and her flaunting fancy vocab like no one's business, * Zhalia Moon's Guide To Becoming A Super Spy which is partially a journal containing details from her top secret undercover missions, partially a guide to wannabe secret agents about cracking codes, invisible ink, importance of a good disguise etc,

*a junior novel about this one time that Lok and Sophie were allowed to go on a mission without adult supervision and The Easiest Mission goes downhill,

* at least one “Choose your destiny” novel in which you can pretend to be your own Seeker character,

* okay, who am I trying to fool? Even twelve such novels would not be enough. so I demand at least one full blown Huntik table top game,

- SPIN-OFFS:

* a spin-off trilogy showing a more humane side of the Organization, perhaps featuring a non-brainwashed important agent as the main character (inspired by @makipagusapan‘s ficlet),

* or perhaps showing the tragedy of an agent who did not know what for they enlisted for and lives like a possessed!Ginny Weasley

* a spin-off novel about Scarlet Byrne, showing us the perspective of a local Seeker who remains mostly behind all the drama that the top Seekers face but is, nonetheless, very important,

* a spin-off trilogy about Montehue and Tersly,

* a spin-off series about another group of Seekers which would give proper representation to non-European countries and characters.

- SEQUELS:

* a novel with the plot set post the third/fourth season in which the Huntik Team is temporarily split but they become reunited to face a powerful threat, * a sequel trilogy about the next gen of Seekers forced to save the world.

May I make some addition?

Tulip field is one of the first things that comes to everyone's mind when they think about Netherlands. So after the end of season 1, our team became a little bit famous in Foundation and they started to meet lots of people. And everybody keeps asking to Zhalia the same question during the small talks: "Hmm, Netherlands. Have you ever been in a tulip field??"

At first she just slides around like "Yeah, there are tulips. Colorful ones." because she moved to Vienna when she was just a child and after she came back to Rotterdam I guess she hadn't a normal life to go on a sightseeing just for fun, due to the spying things. So she never had a chance to see these fields.

But people didn't stop asking and she's at the end of days like " If one single person asks me about those fucking tulips one more time, I'm gonna start to murder again"

This situation made Dante think about that idea; a tulip field date. Because why not; they have plently of free time since they won against the Professor and kids are going to school again. Also Zhalia's insurance agency in Rotterdam wants to talk her about a exploded house, so she has to go there.

And the rest is what you said, they had a great time.

Ps: Later on the time Zhalia takes the Twins to the fields too, because they haven't been there either.

Huntikmas Day 2- The team as build a bears

Sophie:

Sophie is Pawlette obviously, always the go to model BaB use to display their more sophisticated costumes and outfit designs. In terms of clothing I've gone for Sophie's more random style, she's got a pink shirt to get the colour in and a denim skirt which is kind of similar to the one she wears in show. And the converses she gets to keep but I suppose the laces should probably be undone.

Dante:

Based on a classic, back from the dead, everybody wants him... Dante is Pumpkin Kitty! Aside from that the colour scheme also goes very well with Dante's coat and hair and although the cat and pumpkin spice vibe might not quite be right, the other factors were too funny to ignore. Outfit wise there's no way BaB could ever manage the coat and it would be a crime to even try so instead we've gone for casual. Black V-neck, beige trousers and the boots kind of cover like half his wardrobe so it's a good fit.

Lok:

Playful Pup and Lok have the same kind of energy, friendly and a bit naive but equally a very sturdy and solid choice. Obviously Lok would need the Indiana Jones costume so I just had a bit of fun with the rest of his wardrobe. He's got a wholesome shirt but a bit quirky so he's not just got inspirational quotes stuck to his chest, the jeans like the show and the Ireland hoodie to remind him of home. He's also got the rainbow shoes because he is a rainbow himself and deserves the colour.

Zhalia:

Made for the bearcave but has somehow become a favourite with a younger audience, Zhalia is the devil bear. In this comparison obviously Zhalia was made to be an assassin/spy and has somehow ended up on a team predominantly populated by children. Keeping similar to the show, she's just got some jeans boots and a green tank top but when I imagine this all together it looks slightly punky and different which I think works.

Cherit:

Cherit is the timeless bear because who knows how old he is. Not much to say here other than the robes not only give him the white colour, but he also deserves to relax after thousands of years of human nonsense and being fired as a canonball by Eathon Lambert.

Den:

Ngl the main reason for the highland cow as Den is the crazy hair, it's uncanny. I just went a bit nuts with Den because it was really hard to pull an outfit together for him. Starting with the shorts… I can see him wearing them on a beach or something, I think he’d find them funny. Meanwhile the shirt was tricky because Den makes a lot of self confident jokes about being the best but he’s not got an ego, it’s just jokes. I don’t have time to analyse his self esteem issues here but I went for the mothman shirt because it’s the right level between his humour but not over the top. I think the mothman joke distracts from it being all about him. As for the shoes he’s just got some nice simple trainers to tie off this chaotic look.

Harrison:

Zombie frog because he’s been through the wars and he’s always looking rough. I’ve gone with the stranger things T-shirt because we all know how Harrison likes being in a club. I think it also adds to the edgy and antisocial but actually just misunderstood vibe he’s got going on. Black jeans to keep with the aesthetic and the same trainers as Den so they’re matchy matchy.

Honourable mentions!:

I considered the too hot to handle one for Den but going back to the ego thing I decided it was a bit too much. Meanwhile the take you out joke dates back in the Huntik fandom between Dante and Zhalia so it came close.

Formal Wear (Huntik Chat)

Dante: I know it's cliché, but I'm a little disappointed you didn't ask me to help zip that up.

Zhalia: One of the many perks of being to flexible enough fit into an air vent is never having to ask for help zipping up a dress.
