DPxDC Zero Gravity
Things Justice League knows about Danny Phantom:
He's dead (why, how, and for how long is unclear)
He's generally on the 'good' side (but contingency plans have been set up in case of 'future evil self' resurfacing, by Danny's own suggestion)
He's a figure of authority among other dead/neverborn/otherworldly/eldritch/magical beings (however, it's unclear to what kind of authority he holds and why)
He's dating one of the Bats (unclear to who, but none of them confirmed nor denied the fact, which is a confirmation on its own)
He absolutely hates only three things: toast, circus, and Christmas (neither of them explained)
His powerset is so wide that he can't even fully recount it (unclear if it's because he doesn't remember all his abilities or if he can't keep track of the new ones popping up spontaneously)
He's hot [whoever added this, you're not wrong, but I'm watching you - O.]
He has a grudge against Flash (unclear to why, but Flash seems to know the reason and won't budge regardless)
Of course, there are many more things to know about Danny Phantom, but they are mostly suspicions, rumors, and speculations. Like how sometimes the boy seems distracted and bored as if he is only going through a pre-written script; a sign of repeatedly going through the same day a few times too many, as the other time-travellers say. Or like how sometimes he knows too much - the boy is an expert in Kryptonian biology, to Clark's great surprise, and is more knowledgeable about Olympus politics than Diana herself.
There are also little things that are hard to notice and even harder to ignore once you do. How he never talks about family but likes listening to others talk about it. How he pointedly stays away from the medbay and any kind of medical staff. How he stops every time he passes one of the giant windows on the main floor of the Watchtower, smiling dreamily at the sight of vast, open space beyond it.
And then, there's The Thing that no one addresses.
When Danny Phantom doesn't pay attention, he unknowingly nullifies gravity.
The first time it happened, Bruce thought the Watchtower's artificial gravity collapsed. However, he very quickly realized that it was a local occurrence - only a few rooms and a hallway were affected - and, right in the center of it, was Danny, reading a book he borrowed (stolen) from the Wayne manor library.
The boy himself never noticed it. Which made sense, given that he defied gravity all on his own, always floating in the air above the floor.
But the others never acknowledged it either, treating the sudden absence of gravity as a sign of one, Danny appearing somewhere around, and two, him being in a good, if a bit absent, mood.
All in all, it's not the strangest thing that happens at the Watchtower on a daily basis.
And, besides, it's kind of fun.
¤¤¤
Danny, floating in the middle of the game room at Wayne manor, deeply engrossed in a video game: Eat this, sucker!
Tim, using his toes and knees to keep himself from floating up from the couch, not wanting to distract Danny from their match: Oh, you're going down.

Bart, in the middle of a conversation with Kon:

Kon: ...
Bart, looking down at the cup on the floor: ... I guess he left?..
Kon: He literally went through a giant glowing portal two minutes ago, five feet away from you, but that's how you figure it out?
Bart: I have a short attention span, anyway-
¤¤¤
Barry, opening a bag of chips just for all the contents and himself as well to start floating: I swear he does this on purpose, I fucking swear.

¤¤¤
Red Tornado, coming into the training hall of Mount Justice: ...
Young Justice:
Tumblr media
Red Tornado: I take it Danny is visiting. I'll leave you to it, then.
¤¤¤
Bruce, walking out of the conference room at the Watchtower to see this on the other end of the hallway, internally: He may be coming this way, I should warn the others in the room.
Tumblr media
Bruce, a second later, because he is a little shit deep inside: On the other hand, it's a great surroundings awareness drill, so maybe I shouldn't.

Shell Havens, Low Gravity Colossi A piece done for The Vacuum Jungle section of the art zine "Visions Unveiled" published by BobTheSeagullKing in collaboration with Logan/Tachyon , CrabdominalPain , and Luke Baker.
"In the great wide stretches of this world’s atmosphere there gently paddles giants unlike any other. The Shell Haven is a filter feeding descendant of terrestrial Coneshells whose broad sky-plankton diet has allowed it to reach unrivalled sizes. Within their namesake shells are buoyancy air-bladders that keep them stable while massive “wings” and twin siphons push them ever forward through the clouds, their expanding mouths agape for food.
Although gentle animals, they are extremely deadly combatants towards territorial rivals and predators. What mass and a dense shell cannot solve, the Shell Haven has a harpoon launching proboscis within it’s throat, only revealed when aggravated. The proboscis grows hundreds of modified radula harpoons which generate throughout the year, readying to be blasted out by the combustion of gas rapidly towards targets. The burst can be so powerful that a flash is produced, with Shell Haven combat lighting up clouds in the night sky during nocturnal fire fights.
The death of a fully grown Shell Haven is rare to see, with the closest thing to active predators fleeing with chunks of living meat rather than a full kill, but a true death is an event for the local ecosystem. The colossal body will float for potentially years until scavengers finally bore through enough air-bladders to sink the beast. These Shell-Falls produce clouds of organic matter that rain decay and swarm with hungry life, becoming quite a foul smelling festival until the shell crashes upon the earth below.
Some clever creatures have learned to make a home of these pale tombstones to the mighty sky giants, nesting along the hollows of the innards. Cleverer creatures have crafted great balloons to make these shells fly once more, using them as great cloud fortresses and warships."

Made some purely self-indulgent art based off an equally self-indulgent fic.
My shameless self-insert OC with Crosshair and Hunter.
Also, how come in Star Wars they hardly ever play with the idea of a lack of gravity? Honestly only Clone Wars and Rebels have fun with that concept in a small handful of episodes.

I’m curious about your thoughts on stress manifestations/mutations. How do they work? Is there any rhyme or reason to the specific mutations that people develop? Can they occur in non-emitter types etc? I'm working on a fic right now and I think your meta analysis is GREAT and I’m interested to hear how you see them (both narratively and in canon).
So I'm confused by the terminology here. I assume you mean Stress Evolutions, where people gain burst of power when they are near death. If it's something else, let me know.
Tumblr media
The way that Stress Evolution works is similar to how our own bodies work. When any kind of Quirk user is put under immense physical, mental, and emotional strain, their Quirks begin to react to it. This stress then pushes the Quirk to further heights in order to try and deal with that situation. It's like how our bodies react to dangerous situations with sudden bursts of physical or mental acuity. It's just that with Quirks, the jump in power is a lot more obvious. And this needs to be something downright harrowing as well in order for it to happen. The evolution can manifest in any number of ways as long as it relates to the Quirk's function, like Dabi making ice being an evolution of his ice resistance. You need to be in the most messed up fight of your life to get something like it. There are plenty of examples of this throughout the series to varying degrees. The two biggest ones are with Izuku and All Might during their fights against Muscular and All For One, respectively. Both parties were pushed to their physical and mental limits in those fights, yet were still able to win out thanks to a sudden burst in power.
Now, you may notice this sounds a lot like an Awakening, but there are several differences between a Stress Evolution and an Awakening. Most obviously, a Stress Evolution isn't permanent. The user's Quirk goes back to normal once they aren't in that situation anymore. And while there is a lot of overlap in how the two come about, it's the actual context that matters. A Stress Evolution comes about from any kind of near-death experience, while an Awakening always seems to be something more personal to the target, such as Bakugou's selfless act to save Izuku that resulted in him nearly dying or Uraraka finally being able to understand and help Toga. It would be fitting to describe events like that as "life-changing" instead of just "life-threatening". Which could explain why everyone isn't running around with Awakened Quirks in spite of all of the messed up, near-death situations they go through in the series. Most importantly, is the extent of the change. A Stress Evolution pushes the Quirk to it's absolute limits to save the user, going well above whatever their Quirk was capable of before. An Awakening pushes the Quirk beyond it's limits, granting some new ability or application of the power, something that wouldn't manifest normally.
