so at the end of hl1, spoilers to those few who don’t know, Gordon Freeman is given a ‘choice’ work for Gman and his employers, or be put in an ‘unwinnable situation’ aka die, and in game you can make both choices, but if you chose the die option, you basically get respawned again and end up right back in front of Gman and have no choice

when i first experiences it i remembered the ending of the very first old doom game, and how Doomguy gets sent to hell, and then seemingly died, just to reveal in the sequel no, Doomguy is just in hell, and needs to fight his way out

and i had an idea of what if, stubborn and at this point half feral Gordon Freeman choses the ‘impossible situation’ and somehow, by the skin of his teeth, by outsmarting the aliens, tricking them into attacking each other, then ripping the weapon that shoots bees right off the big grunt aliens that fell, actually manages to survive, and once again fights his way through zen, now with the goal of not just taking out Gman, but eventually takes out his employers as well, and when Gordon finally makes it back to earth,,,

well now the surviving humans have a good reason to think of Gordon freeman as their messiah,

basically Doomguy version of Gordon Freeman, twice as feral, and using his intelligence to outsmart enemies, the combine stand no chance against him
