oooh tlg ask time!!! :D
what do you think the outlanders would be like in a human au? i'm leaving this really broad so you can talk about anything ya want - what they look like, what they do, anything! :3
Hello Spinny!! Spins! The Spinniest Spinner!!!
woah I typed ‘spin’ so many times it doesn't even look like a real word anymore, lol. Anyway, about the outlanders!! I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what would cause their conflicts with the Guard, and because I think of the Guard’s “protecting the circle of life” job to be almost like park rangers, so in this au the Outlanders are mostly…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
…poachers!.
I mean if we think about it, most of the “bad guys” in this show only had crimes revolving around hunting. (and Scar, but we're ignoring him for now.)
All of the Tree of Life villains, (except Mama but shes also got drugs soooo yeah), Mpishi, Makucha in the Imaginary Okapi… and most of the Outlanders!
Kiburi and his float commit violations of fishing laws, taking in more fish than the legal limit, keeping undersized fish, or fishing restricted areas. As for what they look like, all of the crocs are Latino. I’m still deciding which Central American country their ancestors hail from. How they ended up in Africa is beyond me, lol. (Some are Afro-Latino perhaps? Idk.)
Janja and the hyenas are Black, and, obviously, take more than their fair share. (what they’ve got the tags for.) (This is all based off of the Massachusetts hunting system btw. Just writing what I know.) Again, they take prey that isn't legal, like young calves. There are also certain seasons for certain prey, which they disregard entirely.
J: “I'm hungry for zebra. C’mon fellas, lets go get some lunch.”
C (either one): “But Janja, zebra doesn’t open for another two weeks!”
J: “I know that already you furbrain, I just don’t care!”
The Jackals? Same thing as the hyenas, just less intense and also toss thievery into the mix.
Tumblr media
The vultures? I don't think they actually committed any crimes… other than arson, LOL. Def white/British tho.
So, as protectors of the land and the wildlife on it, the Guard butts heads with the Outlanders quite a bit in this au.
Pretty much all of the Outlander dynamics are similar to what they were in the show. The Outlands itself is the poorest part of the general area, as well as having the highest crime rates. It’s hard for someone born in the Outlands to get out, and hard for Pridelanders to understand why anyone would want to stay there.
Being from the Outlands would come with a bad reputation, one that takes a lot to push past in order to make friends with a Pridelander, like we see in Never Judge a Hyena by its Spots. I think that prejudice would be a fun thing to explore.
Speaking of Jasiri and her clan, they're probably doing the best out of the Outland’s groups. I don't have a design for her yet, but I'm working on it.

Moash & Kaladin: "Oh I Just Can't Wait to Kill the King"
[Spoilers for Words of Radiance!]
This should be sung to the tune of "I Just Can't Wait to Be King" from the Lion King. Moash as Simba. Kaladin as Zazu.
[Previous song parodies: Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better, Radiant, Somebody That I Used To Know, Total Eclipse of the Heart, Surface Pressure]
Moash:
We're gonna have to kill the king
Now Kaladin--be smart.
Kaladin:
Well, I've never seen a regicide
as justice, for a start!
Moash:
I'm gonna get my vengeance now
like no darkeyes has before
I'm brushing up on throwing down
I'm settling a SCORE
Kaladin:
Thus far, a rather uninspiring thing...
Moash:
Oh I just can't WAIT to kill the king!
Kaladin (spoken): You've gotten yourself mixed up in a troubling plot, Moash, if you think...
Moash:
No more false imprisonments!
Kaladin:
Now are you sure that--
Moash:
You know our ruler's subpar!
Kaladin:
Well but we can't--
Moash:
No more inane laws made!
Kaladin:
You have to think about--
Moash:
Our king will be Dalinar!
Kaladin:
But Dalinar!
Moash:
If a limb's infected, what do you do?
Kaladin:
Well...it definitely goes?
Moash:
This country's surgeon is you!
Kaladin:
I think it's time that you and I
arranged a heart to heart!
Moash:
Please just meet my friends
and hear their arguments for a start!
Kaladin:
If this is where your plans are headed, just wait--I'll get you out!
Out of trouble, out of regicide
You cannot hang about!
Your anger is a cold and scary thing...
Moash:
Oh I just can't WAIT to kill the king!
Everybody look left!
Everybody look right!
As long as we're alone we
can kill the king on any night!
Kaladin:
Not! Yet!
Moash:
Let everyone who cares for justice sing!
An age of right and fairness we will bring!
It's gonna be a good and noble thing!
Oh I just can't WAIT to kill the king!
Oh I just can't WAIT to kill the king!
Oh I just can't wait...
to kill the king!

Disney Social Media Moms Celebration 2015 — VoicePlay live performances
Starting in 2010, Disney World hosted annual gatherings of bloggers that served as a combination of networking opportunities for attendees and promotional events for Disney's resorts. Each year, a couple hundred moms who were active on various social media platforms were invited to bring their families to the park for a long weekend (at a significant discount), connect with each other, and experience the amenities. The 2015 SMMC event took place over Mother's Day weekend, and on their special day, they were treated to a lively performance by VoicePlay.

Parents of young kids are used to their children watching the same movies over and over. But what if you could get the whole story of an animated feature in a fraction of the time? And what if it was sung and acted out for you by five goofy dudes? Well, then you'd get this.
Details:
title: The Story of Rapunzel
original songs / performers: [0:26] "When Will My Life Begin" from Tangled; [1:14] "Mother Knows Best" from Tangled; [2:30] "All About That Bass Prince" by Meghan Trainor (parody); [2:42] "I've Got a Dream" from Tangled; [3:23] "Bad Day" by Daniel Powter; [3:58] "Healing Incantation" from Tangled; [4:50] "Best Day of My Life" by American Authors; [4:58] "You'll Be In My Heart" from Tarzan; [5:22] "When Will My LIfe Begin (reprise 2)" from Tangled
written by: all songs from Tangled by Alan Menken & Glenn Slater; "All About That Bass" by Meghan Trainor & Kevin Kadish; "Bad Day" by Daniel Powter; "Best Day of My Life" by American Authors, Aaron Accetta, Shep Goodman & James Shelley; "You'll Be In My Heart" by Phil Collins
arranged by: VoicePlay
performance date: 10 May 2015
My favorite bits:
"I'll give you a hint: it's Rapunzel." "I love this story!"
newly beardy Earl playing the ingenue heroine
Eli touching his freshly shaved noggin on the final ♫ "brush my hair" ♫
Tony going full gaslight-girlboss during "Mother Knows Best"
"You're embarrassing me." 😒
Layne being cast as the first of many animal sidekicks to come, but at least getting some scritches during "I've Got A Dream" 🐴
Geoff replying to being stabbed with a mild "Ooh, that really hurts," then continuing to sing his part while lying on the floor
"Hey, quit horsing around!" Deploying dad jokes at the event for moms before any of them were actually dads.
a lovely final section of pure singing
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Trivia:
VoicePlay later included songs from Tangled in two videos from their "Aca Top 10" series. An excerpt from "When Will My Life Begin?" was in their "Disney Heroes" countdown, and "Mother Knows Best" was part of "Disney Villains".
"You'll Be In My Heart" from Tarzan was also part of the the "Aca Top 10 — Disney Heroes" video.
Rapunzel and Mother Gothel have more recently appeared in PattyCake's "Princess Academy" and "Villains Lair" series, respectively.

Performing at Disney World provided a perfect opportunity for the guys to bust out their celebration of the company's Broadway adaptations in a live setting. Especially since the event was partly a promotion for the various Disney travel destinations.
Details:
title: aca-Disney medley

arranged by: VoicePlay
performance date: 10 May 2015
My favorite bits:
Tony and Earl looking like a little gossipy clique in the corner
everyone turning toward Layne to appreciate his first percussion riff
♫ "with quite so little hair" ♫ Wait, that's backwards.
the reverb on Earl's "Roar!" (Good job, Paul.)
Geoff's growl as he hands the lead back to Eli
Layne pulling off that super fast patter live, and Eli taking over the beatboxing while he does it
that big finish
Trivia:
VoicePlay originally created this mashup medley as part of Disney On Broadway's 20th anniversary celebration.
I'm not sure why Eli sang "A Whole New World" instead of Tony on this occasion. It could be that months of touring followed almost immediately by a cruise had left Tony feeling not quite up to belting those big notes on that day.

Any group of people on a long car ride can get on each other's nerves, be it a family with parents and children, or a touring vocal quintet (who are basically a bunch of big kids). And this number is always a hit with audiences of all ages.
Details:

arranged by: Geoff Castellucci
performance date: 10 May 2015
My favorite bits:
the gently animated backdrop
Tony taking a selfie while Earl desperately tries to get Layne to let him in the car
the little "gotta wake up" noises Eli makes
the front seat getting weirdly intense about Enya
♫ "We'll get WILD, wild, okay." ♫
Earl shouting the first "Rock!" with such power, then mumbilng the second with his head tipped so far back and away from the mic
Tony putting his finger so close to Eli's face that he bats it away (As a fellow glasses wearer, I understand that instinct.)
the camera being at the right angle to show Earl letting one go several seconds before the other guys react
Eli and Tony continuing to silently bicker, even from the far corners of the stage
Geoff and Layne leaning away from Earl's extra-long hairspraying
both Earl and Eli asking to change to station one last time, only to be rebuffed
Trivia:
VoicePlay made a professionally filmed version of this medley / skit during the 2014 Sing-Off tour.

Character ask: Sebastian (The Little Mermaid)
Favorite thing about them: First of all, the fact that he becomes such a good, helpful friend to Ariel. Second, he sings two outstanding songs, "Under the Sea" and "Kiss the Girl." Third, he's one of the most unique Disney sidekicks. In a way, he's a typical character found in Disney and other fairy tale films: the monarch's uptight servant who tries in vain to keep everything in order, much like Beauty and the Beast's Cogsworth, The Lion King's Zazu, or Lionel in the 1997 Rodgers and Hammerstein Cinderella. But the fact that he's Caribbean and a lively calypso musician adds a fun, fresh twist to that type of character. Indeed, he was originally planned to be a standard British majordomo, but then Howard Ashman suggested the more creative choice of making him Caribbean and letting him sing calypso, and his instincts turned out to be very right!
Least favorite thing about them: Well, he starts out as a bit of a stick-in-the-mud, siding with King Triton's strictness and not listening to Ariel any more than her father does. Though I don't blame him, since Triton is the king and Sebastian is his servant; besides, he also wants what's best for Ariel, and he comes around beautifully when he realizes just how much the human world and Prince Eric mean to her, foreshadowing Triton's coming around in the end.
Also, one sentiment in "Kiss the Girl" is outdated: the idea that kissing a girl is a good way to find out if she likes you back or not. Of course Sebastian knows that Ariel wants to be kissed, but in general, that's not the best advice.
Three things I have in common with them:
*I love music.
*I'd rather stay where I am than dream about some unknown place.
*I want my friends to be happy, even if their happiness isn't what I would choose for them.
Three things I don't have in common with them:
*I'm not a king's right hand servant.
*I'm not a composer.
*I'm not a crab.
Favorite line:
This classic line, which was allegedly ad-libbed by Samuel E. Wright:
"Teenagers, they think they know everything. You give them an inch, they swim all over you."
And his speech on the beach after Ariel becomes human:
"Just look at her! On legs! On human legs! My nerves are shot! This is a catastrophe! What would her father say? I'll tell you what her father'd say, he'd say he's gonna kill himself a crab, that's what her father'd say! I'm gonna march meself straight home right now and tell him just like I shoulda done de minute… and don't you shake your head at me, young lady. Maybe there's still time. If we could get that witch to give you back your voice, you could go home with all the normal fish, and just be… just be… just be miserable for the rest of your life. All right, all right. I'll try to help you find that prince. Boy, what a soft shell I'm turning out to be!”
brOTP: Ariel and King Triton.
OTP: None; just happiness.
nOTP: Ariel.
Random headcanon: Whether the '90s TV series is fully canon or not (and I don't think it is), the storyline where Sebastian's parents came to visit, they mistakenly thought he was king of Atlantica because of how he had bragged about "running the place" in his letters, and Ariel helped him try to uphold the illusion and stop them from meeting King Triton so they wouldn't be disappointed, really did happen at some time before the events of the movie.
Unpopular opinion: I don't think I have any.
Song I associate with them:
"Under the Sea"
youtube
"Kiss the Girl"
youtube
Favorite pictures of them:

I will link you the thread that led to this dumbass twitter argument cuz idk if you have that stupid bird app but I already have my base for the essay
Lion King- The whole thing about Timon and Pumbaa being shunned from their families for things outta their control and finding one another, before adopting a child together who even acknowledges that they're his two dads, Timon acting like his mother, even going so far to sing the "Where is the little boy I carried" song and yadda yadda
Bagheera and Baloo: The whole midnight talk from the original movie where Baloo says he'd marry a panther, implying Bagheera, the remake in 2016 where it was basically two divorced parents coparenting their rebellious child, before getting together in the end, Bagheera even licked Baloo affectionately after he risked his life to save their son
Launchpad and Darkwing: Ignoring the fact that Launchpad is confirmed bisexual, the fact that they're raising a daughter together should be enough but it obviously isn't to this dickhead
Todd and Copper: LITERALLY A FORBIDDEN ROMANCE !
Basil and Ratigan: Obsession and Infatuation to the point where they're obviously in love with one another but since they're on opposite sides, they'll have to settle on the sexual tension of trying to take each other down.
Scar: Do...Do I even have to explain ? I obviously do because homophobes love to y'know, deny everything.
Zazu: I... honestly don't remember Zazu tbh so I'll need help with him.
Turk and Tantor: They're butch lesbian and or transmasc and ace solidarity. Turk has never fit into a feminine role and has never been comfortable doing girl things, she tried to become a "girl" in order to "fit in" but decided against it because it wasn't who she was. And Tantor doesn't even like to be near people so I don't think he'd ever have interest in forming a romantic relationship himself.
Wanna help me write an essay on why some Disney animals are gay ? Some dildo on Twitter won't stop harrassing me till i prove it and I thought it'd be fun. The characters in question are Timone and Pumbaa Bagheera and Baloo, Scar, Ratigan and Basil, Darkwing Duck and Launchpad, Todd and Copper, Zazu, Tantor and Turk.
I just wanna piss a homophobe off. @jennrypan
