i still mourn the storyline we could have had where instead of a cheap betrayal they went much more deeply into how much Lucanis did want to escape the Crows and wanted Illario to be able to be First Talon and that the one thing that was building against the two of them was Caterina's pressure... guh.

#in my dream da4 rewrite Illario wouldnt betray Lucanis #Lucanis WOuLD have been captured because of his soft heart like Illario jokes about early on and Zara says she will use against him #not because Illario betrayed him but a consequences of his own compassion #and that therefore Illario's mourning of Lucanis in the Wake was genuine #and the conflict would have been on dealing with all those negatives feelings #the guilt of never really calling Lucanis out on his kindness. the grief. the bitterness that even there he wasn't considered for Talon.#the guilt of feeling bitter.
