I didn't realize you had quit! I was wondering for a time where all your dank memes and gifs/photo edits were. You were hilarious. I'm gonna miss all your FFXIV content definitely. Detailed Character Profile: Qara Hotgo

Appearance

gender: female race: Au Ra (Xaela) height: 5’3” eye color: Red with blue limbal rings hair color: Jet Black with highlights of blue from dye.

The basics

name day: Mid-Summer season. (She doesn’t know the exact date she was born on the Eorzean calendar). occupation: Privateer (officially). sexual identification: Heterosexual romantic identification: Heteroromantic alignment: Chaotic Good criminal history: Qara has several minor law violations due to her initial cultural ignorance when she first arrived in Eorzea. Some examples include: punching a drunkard in the face in front of a Yellow Jacket, and painting a ward in the Mists with “graffiti”. Her biggest legal violation is harboring a criminal, but charges were dropped due to ultimately turning the criminal in. (However, considering how much vigilante work she’s done, the above examples are only things she’s been caught doing.)

Ten random facts

1 – Qara the Artist. Qara can paint more than her face. She can paint portraits of people with realistic detail. This is a skill few know she has, and aside from painting her own face, it’s a rarely-used skill.  

2 – Qara the Knight. Qara’s true cause is that of the Dark Knights. Only extended to all of Eorzea and beyond. Her privateer occupation was born of a need to facilitate her work as a Dark Knight, so she is not the typical privateer. It’s not about loot or getting rich. It’s about freedom to take the work she believes in with minimal laws to get in the way. As Dark Knights are essentially vigilantes, she keeps her true cause secret, and uses Dark Arts only when she really needs to.  

3 – A Contrasting Sister. Qara is uncompromising about her morality (see alignment). So how does she have a loving bond with a sister who has done some practically unforgivable deeds?

The two sisters grew up together, but one (Chakha) was unlucky enough to end up in the hands of the Garlean Shadows after their tribe was massacred. Chakha was “indoctrinated” and trained to be an assassin. And once she “escaped” the Garleans, she ended up in the hands of Ul’dah Monetarists…  

Qara loves Chakha, and keeps her close because she wants to save her sister who she believes is not the heartless weapon she was made to be. (Inspiration example: Captain America and The Winter Soldier.)  

4 – Speaking of Morality. Qara believes many laws are made to protect the powerful, and do not protect those truly in need of protecting. She tends to want to protect refugees, the poor and those who want freedom from oppression. Saving unfortunate groups of people allows her to do what she couldn’t do for her tribe.

5 – Qara is an Introvert. Unlike my other character, Qara is more introverted, and it sometimes makes her a challenge to play. Many of her thoughts are kept to herself unless she thinks she needs to express them. She is most wordy around a small group of friends who she has grown comfortable with.

6 – The Stormbreaker Captain. The ship is an unexpected result of two years of RP. Over four dozen Xaela refugees, hundreds of Lalafell farmers and one wealthy family of mages came together to build the small ship with all their resources and knowledge combined.

Qara is in her position due to her drive, passion and zeal which makes her a good symbolic leader, but not yet an experienced one. (Inspiration example: Joan of Arc). However, the Xaela refugees on board are people she personally lead away from piracy to live a new life. This helps ground her authority despite it being pretty audacious.

Fortunately, she also has a Quartermaster (Zanzan) more experienced with sailing who helps her lead and make tactical choices in addition to a crew where over half the members are veteran South Sea Lalafell sailors. This helps her avoid mistakes that would cost her the ship.    

7 – Relentless Passion. While she may not always show it due to her introverted nature, Qara has a zeal about her that has allowed her to overcome many obstacles in her life. From adapting to Eorzea to gathering a crew for her ship, and eventually playing a part in saving an entire island of people.

8 – Her Many Colors. As a Hotgo, Qara is always carrying several tiny containers of paint. Different colors represent different moods. While she used to use these face paints more often, she still uses them in instances of intense emotion, or when she expects to face a noteworthy situation.

9 – Eorzean as a Second Language. Qara’s mastery over the Eorzean common tongue has improved, but she still has trouble with vocabulary not commonly used in conversations. This also influences the way she speaks.

10 – Spiritual. Qara not only believes in the Au Ra religion, but also believes in spirits. It makes her superstitious, and anytime there is a religious contradiction or something unexplainable, she will often find answers in the spirits. She can’t hear them, but she believes every story and myth she’s been told about them by her grandmother.

Short Menance

[22:35]Zanzan Yanzan nearly lands back onto his feet as he finds Braxis's boot against his torso as he's sent flying back and skidding across the ground. He grunts as he picks himself up before charging straight at the Highlander. With a running leap, he aims to grapple and tackle down his opponent with a facegrab. [22:36]Braxis Wynterwulf "OI! GET OFF ME HELM YE GRABBY LIL'BUGGER!" The dragoon bellowed as the lalafell clinged onto his helm. Thrashing and flailing about attempting to fling the Lalafell off before the highlander looses his balance. [22:39]Zanzan Yanzan hangs on for dear life, avoiding any attempt to be thrown off. Lifting one hand into the air, he then ains multiple pommels with his scepter into the side of his opponent's helmet. [22:40]Braxis Wynterwulf was able to keep himself from being hit by the scepter somehow. Raising his hands to block the blows, almost out of sheer luck. The highlander dropped his halberd. Grabbing Zanzan with one hand and his helm with the other. Aiming to toss them both off his head and into the dirt below. "I SAID OFF FURY'S SAKE!" [22:42]Zanzan Yanzan is still able to hang on, slapping away Braxis's hands from his attempts to throw him off once more. Now gripping onto his helmet with only his Lalafellan legs forcing it to stay on, he raises both scepters into the air and attempts to do what Qara does best, bashing him repeatedly against the top of the Dragonslayer's head. [22:43]Braxis Wynterwulf "OI!"  "OOOF!"  "GODS DAMN IT ZANZAN!" Shouting and growling in rage between each endless blows to his helmet. The highlander swinging his mettallic prosthetic hand towards Zanzan's side. "OFF. GODS. DAMN. YOU!" [22:46]Zanzan Yanzan is struck hard against his  side as he falls off but not without pulling Braxis's helmet off with him. He lands onto the ground heavily  with an 'Oof!' By just mere reaction, he then tosses the helmet back to where it originally made its home, Braxis's dome. [22:47]Braxis Wynterwulf did not even notice the lalafell took his helmet off with him. He took a deep breath of air as Zanzan landed into the ground. "AIR!" He called out almost forgetting he was fighting his friend. Gaze quickly snapping back to Zanzan before "THUNK!" The highlander blinking blankly before falling over with a thud.

Grindstone: He Could...Go...All...The...Way! (Part 2)

Never before had Mikha made it this far in Grindstone. Once he made it to the second round, but every other time he lost in the first round. He was so excited, he was nearly bouncing out of his skin!

Round 4: Bracket finals!

Mikha was to face Sif Moonclaw, a man with a giant axe. 

“Quite a show Mikha." he smiled. "I'll look forward to this."

Their fight was a quick one, though Mikha was almost done in because he had no idea such a large axe could successfully be thrown -- it took his feet out from under him, but once more his ability to shoot from the ground saved him.  In almost every match this night, his opponent took him down to the ground, but he shot successfully from that position every time.

Before leaving the area, Mikha did a quick search to collect up what arrows he could find; he hadn’t expected to fight so many matches, and his quiver was getting low. Lesson learned: As he does with company missions, from now on he’d bring an extra quiver to Grindstone.

Round 5: Semifinals!

Mikha’s next fight was against a Lalafell Maelstrom officer.

Zanzan Yanzan smiles widely at Mihka then offers a bow of his own. "A pleasure. May the Stars watch over us and our fight be remembered in the skies above." He paces back a bit, unsheathing his sword as he readies his stance.

Though his opponent was fast, once more Mikha was able to keep out of range of the blade....mostly.

Until the end.  Mikha stumbled while dodging a strike, tumbling down to the ground and rolling through the dirt. But by this point, the archer was responding on instinct, and fired a shot at Zanzan even before his own head was clear, ending the match. He won again!

Round 6: Finals!

Warren Castille: Our final match pits the heavy armored Arbor champion Titus up against the swift-footed Wash champion Mikha! Only one can win tonight's Grindstone, so gentlemen, please provide us a champion!

Before the match started, his opponent asked to make an announcement:

Titus Kagimake: "I am here today to fight for a woman known as Sara, as it was her Name Day recently. Please, put on a great show for her, as she is watching this very match right now." 

Then the battle started. It was a long, long fight, both of them tired by this point, but both of them successfully dodging again and again.  Mikha lead him on a merry chase, well outside of the battle area and then back to it. The archer used the landscape as best he could -- he even used the judges!  He dodged between and around them, using armored men and giant horse as cover at one point.

But no matter how Mikha dodged and ran, Titus kept up with him, and after the previous hours of running and fighting, Mikha couldn’t keep at it.  

((I suck. By this time, it was very late at night and I was exhausted. I got no screenshots of the fight other than this one. Not even a face shot of Titus! He was an outstanding RPer, I wish I had done him more justice with my screenshots.))

Near the fighting area were a collection of maybe-abandoned tents, and so Mikha used them. He dodged around them, and then under one, shooting out at the lancer.  Unfortunately that was a mistake. Titus tackled him through the tent, bringing the whole thing down on him, which halted Mikha’s ability to dodge, allowing the larger man to land the final blow.  Match ended, 3-2.

Lucerna Sainahs sprints over to the combatents. Or.. the one combatent and the other combaTENT- geddit? I'll see myself out. "I, I'm here to heal!"

Titus, upon winning the match, was hugged by the woman he loved and she told him her happy news:  She was pregnant!  Despite losing, Mikha couldn’t have been happier for the other man.

Before leaving, Mikha thanked the officials, and got kind words from the head judge.
