anonymous : Zhongli, if you could go back in time to not make the same mistakes you did with Neuvillette, even if it meant you'd lose what you have with Childe, would you still do it and go back?
"If a mistake was all that came between myself and Monsieur Neuvillette, such a thing could have been remedied without centuries having passed since our parting. No God, Dragon, or any being in the whole of Teyvat and beyond is perfect, mistakes are simply a part of living, but that which has Neuvillette upset with me to this day is something that was unavoidable." The old god would sigh, the burden of this knowledge still weighing heavily despite all of the time that has passed. He has been able to move on, he is content in his current relationship, but it was a true shame there simply was no choice in the matter when it came to Neuvillette.
The simple and unfortunate fact of the hierarchy of this world was that no one being can go against the will of Celestia, not even himself in his prime.
"Whether or not the future holds a chance for us to reconcile is uncertain, but for the moment... I do believe we have both found lives we are content with and company which we can cherish."

"No, they do not possess such a thing, they were merely debating its existence and wondering if Rex Lapis had hidden it away somewhere. In truth, even I do not know where the first of the Mora I created has wound up. Perhaps it still remains in circulation here in Liyue Harbor, carried in the purse of a local whose family has lived here for generations. Perhaps it has found a home elsewhere, like your nation of Snezhnaya, sitting in what is surely a vast collection of Mora at the original branch of the Northland Bank. Or, perhaps, it has been lost to time, having fallen into the sea or buried under hundreds of years of rocks and dirt after having slipped out of the pocket of a daring adventurer. There is truly no telling where such a thing may be, and it's whereabouts are of no importance to me." Admittedly now he did find himself mildly curious about the topic, but would shrug it off regardless as he took another sip of his wine. Wherever that Mora was now, it surely has fulfilled its original purpose many times over and with that knowledge Zhongli could be satisfied.
"Humans are quite nostalgic creatures though, aren't they? I would not claim I do not feel such a thing from time to time given the wealth of memories I possess of times long passed and how I do have a collection of many things I have ben gifted and acquired over the years, but it never would have crossed my mind that the very first Mora may be important to anyone years after it was created. Weapons wielded by great warriors or art created by masters? Of course, the very beings of those who left them behind remain intertwined with their existence, but Mora? Mora is but a tool I created to aid my people, it is not my legacy."
Tumblr media
Regardless of whether or not they were as innocent as they were falsely claiming to be, it still brought the ginger amusement in doing so. If nothing else, it was a promise of things yet to come and discover when the time is right and the consultant finally did let Childe discover these things in greater detail. And now that more wine was freshly poured and he could get comfortable once more, his hand once again rested upon Zhongli's thigh while he sipped from his glass and listened to the musings of the old god. Regardless of whatever story Zhongli happened to settle on, he'd have Childe's full attention as he recounted it.
"In that case, let's also hear the most inaccurate or embellished story about something you did. I'm sure there's plenty of those too that were amusing for you to hear about."
A heated debate about something with such a longstanding history within Liyue didn't surprise him either, Mora was almost as old as Liyue itself and had value indisputable within the whole of Teyvat. So mortals trying to argue that the very first one ever was of paramount importance wasn't surprising in the least. Nor was them trying to discount Zhongli of all people, as if he wasn't the true wealth of correct knowledge on Liyue's history.
"So do they have what they believe was the first ever minted piece of Mora, or was it lost to trading hands in business all those years ago? That'd be quite a thing for them to keep on display somewhere to preserve it. Us humans seem pretty keen on doing that for things of great importance."

03 Aphrodisiac
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zhongli x Reader / NSFW / Dubious consent because aphrodisiacs / Set far before the archon quest. Rex Lapis is actively ruling Liyue. He's called Morax in here / Reader is a member of a dance troupe
It must've been slipped into your wine, you helplessly concluded as you succumbed to the effects of the aphrodisiac. A feverish heat had been steadily spreading over your cheeks and your mind was becoming hazy as you waited for your fate. Eventually, reasoning and refusal would be beyond you. You didn't want to imagine yourself possessed by lust, begging like a shameless whore, but your dire situation remained. You had been delivered to Rex Lapis as a fragrant offering.
Your dilemma began the moment the god asked for your name following your performance. Was he aware that every harmless breath he takes has the power to stir up a storm in the lives of mortals like you?
The doors opened and multiple footsteps approached. Lanterns were lit and an incense burner was prepared. You didn't have to look to see who had returned to their chambers. The elaborate and expensive furnishings and decor surrounding you had disclosed to you whose bedroom this was long before he arrived. It could only be him, that one man in the audience tonight who held the power to alter the course of your life drastically with a few words. Rex Lapis stopped at the foot of the bed, gaze raking over your body in silence, possibly wondering what on Teyvat you were doing in his bed.
"It appears that my praise had been misinterpreted." The archon remarked with muted disdain.
He made a mental note to have someone find out who the leader of the troupe was tonight and have them questioned. This was not how he intended for business to be conducted in his jurisdiction. Also, he would have to replace some of the staff within these quarters seeing as something like this managed to happen directly under his nose without his prior knowledge.
While the archon pondered how how this came to be, your mind was occupied by other uncertainties. The troupe had labeled you expendable as soon as Rex Lapis showed interest in you. If you were to be sent away tonight, what would become of you? This must not be the first time something like this had happened. You wondered what happened to the offerings that came before you. Did he accept them, despite them being unsolicited? Did the archon have a secret harem that he kept carefully hidden from his public eye?
Rex Lapis dismissed all the servants in the room, leaving only you and himself. His brow furrowed as he leaned over you, softly brushing a hand along your face. Your skin was warm to the touch. He took note of your unusually flushed complexion and the heaving of your chest. It was clear that you had undergone some preparation before being brought to him.
"You're trembling, dear. What have they done to you?" You faintly hear him murmur. There was a hint of guilt in his voice.
His voice was the last thing you should be hearing, you thought. You couldn't deny that you found the velvety quality of it deeply arousing. The Lord of Geo was also a delicious feast for the eyes too, both face and body sculpted to perfection. Your mind wandered precariously, just as your eyes did. Rex Lapis stood before you, draped in overlapping layers of fine silk and glinting gold, but all you could think about was that statue you occasionally pass by on the outskirts of the city. It must've been carved during a time when the archon was less reserved, with his exposed torso chiseled in painstaking detail. Was he really like that underneath all these layers?
"You may stay the night in these chambers if you wish. It would not be safe for you to go elsewhere in this state. I shall rest on the chaise tonight." He assured you even though you were barely able to process the words he spoke.
Wispy moans drifted from your parched lips, curling enticingly against his ears. Sweat beaded against your skin, only to soak into the pillows you buried your face into. Your body writhed desperately in search of friction. You had to bite your lip for fear of sullying your archon's divine name. The last thing you'd want to do is mindlessly call out to a god to satiate such mortal urges. The fact that all of this was falling into the eyes of Rex Lapis had you wishing it was all just an incredibly twisted, shameless dream.
You could hear footsteps depart from the foot of the bed. When you thought he was about to leave you to your own misery, he returned, this time slipping a pillow between your thighs.
"This should help alleviate the discomfort to some degree." He supplied.
You jolted, skin tingling from the brief contact.
Surely, Rex Lapis's original intentions must've been to ignore your distress. His hesitation to touch you was certain at least. If he accepted you as a gift, it would only encourage other factions to follow such distasteful practices. The Lord of Geo couldn't possibly be seduced by an unsightly, babbling mess, no matter how needy and helpless you were. So how exactly did he end up stripped naked underneath you the next morning, covered in what could only be bite marks and questionable bruises of your own making?
"I see. You've completely forgotten." The Geo Archon realized, a tinge of disdain in his tone.
"Not intentionally." You defended yourself, effortlessly slipping into the pious role of a devout follower. "I would never dare to."
"Never?" He chuckled, tucking a stray tendril behind your ear. "Would you like me to remind you of all the blasphemous deeds you committed last night?"
Your eyes widened at his accusation. How strong was the aphrodisiac? The lapse of memory in your head regarding the previous night concerned you, especially seeing how the two of you were tangled up in his silken sheets without a single piece of fabric separating your bodies. His body wore the evidence of your insatiable appetite. Your own body was practically unmarred in comparison. Was it even possible that he had not taken advantage of you in your less-than-rational state and simply volunteered himself to be the anecdote for the aphrodisiac? Was this god really that selfless?
"Rex Lapis…" You cleared your throat awkwardly. "I apologize for—"
"Morax."
"Pardon me?" You blinked at his interruption.
"Call me by Morax instead."
"I can't… that would be audacious of me, to address the Lord of Geo directly by name."
All of Liyue knew this to be the archon's name, but nobody called him by it out of reverence, using his title instead.
"You certainly had the audacity to use it last night."
Your face burned like a pile of dry timbers at his revelation. Oh, you wouldn't doubt it. You probably uttered that name in very inappropriate ways.
"Morax." You tested the sound of his name on your tongue. Yes, it definitely didn't feel like the first time you've said it. "Will you be keeping me here or sending me back?"
"Straight to the point hmm?" The archon hummed in approval. "Would you prefer to dance for me alone or share your gift freely? The choice is yours to make."
"Will I see you again if I choose the latter?" You gathered the courage to ask after drawing in a deep breath.
A smile spread over his lips at your question. He reached out for a jade belt ornament lying on his dresser, dangling it before you. It was an intricately carved piece, the craftsmanship exquisite as you would expect any of his other valued possessions would be. Was he gifting this to you?
"I may summon you to perform for a private audience from time to time. This would grant you entrance through the guarded gates."
"What if I'm not summoned for a performance?" Your heart beat erratically inside your ribcage.
"You're saying you wish to see me for other reasons?" His amber eyes darkened.
It was then that you remembered you were still in the archon's bed, draped over his body, very much naked. The aphrodisiac had long left your body, but heat spread through you regardless, as if his words alone were enough to rekindle the previous night's flames.
"Morax…" You gasp as you felt him stir beneath you.
His hand fell on your thigh, grazing the skin there with his fingertips. Your senses came alight, goosebumps following his featherlight touches.
"Now that you are no longer inhibited, you can tell me if you truly want this. My patience had been tested thoroughly last night."
"I…" Your lips parted as he guided your thighs over his hips. "I didn't force myself on you, did I?"
"You certainly tried." He chuckled. "It was an honest effort."
"Why did you let me do those things to you?" You couldn't bear to look at all those unsightly marks you left on him. What kind of monster did the aphrodisiac turn you into?
"Dear, I couldn't bear to watch you hump a bedpost and not intervene. If I had left you to your own devices, you could easily hurt yourself."
You did what? Surely Rex Lapis, a literal god would not make up something as outrageous as this, which could only mean he was telling the truth.
His hands fell on your hips as he gently guided your body to move against his. Heat pooled between your legs as you tentatively grinded yourself against him. Morax's breathing grew heavy as yours thinned into shallow wisps and sighs.
"Sing for me, my sweet."
"Morax…" You utter his name like a prayer.
"The way your body moves... Yes..." He groans as your soaked entrance catches the tip of his cock. Your hips roll in a hypnotic rhythm, swallowing him steadily until he was buried to the hilt in you. "Such an exquisite beauty."
He's generous with his praise, never withholding it. After that first night, he's learned how simple it is to satisfy you.
It all felt like a fever dream. All of these private visits had begun due to a single aphrodisiac-ridden night. Whether they were sustained by lust or something else, it mattered little whenever he was embedded deep inside of you, filling you with his cum and telling you how good you were for him, how beautiful you were when you came for him. As a performer, you lived on praise, was addicted to it. After all, it was one harmless praise that had landed you in the archon's bed. Perhaps that was the true aphrodisiac. As long as he used it often, you would always be wrapped around his finger.

"I highly appreciate your preparedness for entering the world of Liyuen gastronomy, most likely would not consider studying the ways of locals in that particular area, but it is perfectly alright with me that you would avoid certain foods. To have preferences is natural, and even I avoid nearly an entire style of cuisine due to my own despite my appreciation for all of the work which goes into preparing any dish." Zhongli began to explain, smiling and bowing his head politely as a pot of tea was brought to their table and taking it upon himself to pour them each a cup.
"Personally, I am quite averse to seafood. The thought of ingesting those slippery, slimy creatures-..." He trailed off with a frown, quickly shaking his head of the intrusive line of thought. "If the fish happens to be chopped finely enough so that I cannot detect the texture and it lacks that particular fishy scent I can stomach it, but otherwise I would far prefer other options such as chicken, pork, or even tofu and outright refuse to even look at anything involving tentacles."
Even with the man's admission, Kaveh couldn't really see Zhongli being so set in his ways. "But your words prove you're able to bend a bit. I think that matters more, and definitely puts you in a different league from those old men."
A quick thank you is said as he takes a seat. The talk of food did make him a little anxious. As he had researched, some Liyue's best known foods were spicy. Spicy food and Kaveh's stomach didn't mix very well. Perhaps he was an old fart as well. In his own way. With a somewhat pained smile he speaks. "Truthfully I can't handle spicy foods. But don't worry about chopsticks! I've practiced." Now that he could be proud of.
His stomach was weak but not his fingers. Kaveh practiced weeks before taking the trip over to master the utensils. He wasn't anywhere near a local's level but the architect felt he was capable of feeding himself with them. "I should've said something sooner though. You'd think since I'm from Sumeru I'd be accustomed to our spices and be able to eat it just fine."
A soft, embarrassed laugh leaves his lips. "Instead I eat like a child's never gotten over his picky eater phase. I hope it doesn't discourage you from eating with me."

u know what would be a cool genshin fic idea? isekai/transmigrated reader, but instead of appearing within the general timeline, you come into the genshin world 500 years prior to the start of the storyline in khaenri'ah.
honestly it could be either a little before the cataclysm, giving enough time to delve into some relationship building + explore some world building with characters like dainsleif, traveller's sibling (which would probably be lumine bc i actually do like her as abyss sibling & aether as traveller), and npcs like halfdan (still crying over him to this day ;w;) and possibly the khaenri'ahn royal guards (assuming you either join them or have a good enough relationship with them), OR it could be you appear during the crisis, completely and utterly lost as to why you were brought amidst the chaos and bloodshed as you watch everything you barely knew about this nation crumble before your very eyes.
either route will still result in reader's existential crises and constant "why am i here? just to suffer?" monologues because really, who would be fine after going through that after coming from /our/ world? and not to mention you've had to endure the next 500 years wandering with no real set path because you don't know this world— this era of teyvat or of genshin. you're merely stuck, unable to die, and forced to live a life of uncertainty with no clear direction for you to go to.
despite it all, you've at least been able to see dain during this course. while your meetings pass far too quickly for your lonesome, and his solemn demeanour is something you're yet to be accustomed to after having been with him before the fall of khaenri'ah (assuming it's the route where you appear before the cataclysm), you're glad to see a familiar face every now and then. after the messy departure with the lumine who left for the abyss order, you've come to appreciate his quiet presence more and more each time.
and then you decide it might be time to settle. you soon realise it's difficult to do so when your lifespan has become far more than that of a human's — of a mortal's — and so you find yourself becoming used to staying in one place for a few years before setting off for the next. rinse and repeat. over and over. it's come to a point where you've witnessed the nations undergo various changes each time you visit. you know change is inevitable, and yet your heart stings each time you witness it; a testament to how the world is ever-changing, yet you're stuck in place as a bystander.
one thing you're grateful for, however, are the bonds you've established amid your back-and-forth over the centuries. from archons like zhongli and venti to long-life beings such as neuvillette and the adepti to regular mortals who have showed you kindness as if one of their own... you've grown to cherish those memories, often reminiscing them when the nights get too long and surroundings too quiet. it was difficult at first, and still is, but you've become used to the inevitable change and the passing of those you once knew.
and after 500 years, you find yourself face-to-face with one you haven't seen since before you appeared in this world; the protagonist of this world, and the one you eventually join in hopes of finally finding a means to an end, aether.
little side notes/extras:
from /our/ world, you would probably know the storyline from up to around current (5.0) or maybe a little after the fontaine aq conclusion. it gives a lot to work with, but you definitely won't remember a lot of the lore after so long other than some main events, especially since most of your knowledge is pretty irrelevant for the next 500 years,,,
i think it would be cool if you had an inteyvat on your person as a little homage of khaenri'ah, which may or may not invoke some opinions from certain characters (*cough* aether immediately being reminded of lumine and having an existential crisis *cough*)
post-cataclysm you would go through a, uhm, long phase of helplessness, wondering why you were even brought to this world so far back if you couldn't even make any contributions. it does eventually morph into a resolution to do what you can to help those you come across if it's within your capabilities, but the nightmares and helplessness come back every now and then as a reminder for what you can't do :D yippee :D
honestly i'm on the fence whether you would have a vision or some other type of abilities (think on the similar lines of aether/lumine's and dain's), but i think having some type of purification mechanic would be a must in your arsenal !! would definitely lead to some moments between you and characters like dain or zhongli who suffer from the erosion as you give them a slight reprieve from what rages within and corrodes them
a little self indulgent, but i'd like to think your first /proper/ meeting with zhongli happens during a lantern rite festival, wherein you're admiring the lanterns in the sky after making a wish of your own and he comes up from behind with "they're beautiful, wouldn't you say so?" and !!
also as for love interests, as much as i would love for human/mortal characters, a part of me feels like this story would be better suited for the immortal/long-life characters as love interests?? idk i feel like considering that 500 years is, well, a long time, the bonds you would have with them compared to characters like, say, alhaitham or diluc would be way too different ?? though i would definitely still add them as love interest bc i am a sucker for so many of the human characters ;w; it would also add to the angst and hurt/comfort ahahha...
anyway thank you for reading this massive brain dump of a fic bc i absolutely would put this as a long term project, and if u made it this far then i would like to say that dain solos—

@dawnscall happy bday diluc
Hiding things from a man with a wide net cast to collect information was certainly not an easy thing, but it surely was not impossible for a stubborn, ancient, ex-archon to do when he was determined to. Diluc's birthday was something he had been looking forward to for some time, and though he had been made aware it was not necessarily a cheerful occasion for the young redhead, Zhongli couldn't sit by and do nothing- and he certainly couldn't allow his beloved to be alone if he felt inclined to hide away and wait it out.
It was early in the morning that he'd arrived at Dawn Winery before the sun had even risen as he'd detailed in secret notes he'd exchanged with the head house staff he's gotten to know during his visits. They were all quite enthusiastic to help surprise their young master, and that worked to his advantage with being offered all of the help he could've ever wanted to be ready for the day. However, he chose to be left to his own devices in the kitchen for now to prepare the ingredients he'd slyly had delivered beforehand. It was a long, laborious process- longer only because Zhongli was so particular in how he wished to prepare his beloved's first meal- but one he was more than happy to do on this very special day.
When all was prepared and Diluc was supposedly going to be down in a moment, Zhongli himself also set the dining table with a modest serving of noodles steaming welcomingly at the table's head where he patiently stood waiting to greet the man he'd so come to adore.

"I consider myself very lucky, indeed." Luckier than perhaps any other being has ever felt in the history of Teyvat for there was no better way Zhongli would want to spend his time than at Diluc's side where he could ease his worries and draw out the most beautiful smiles that would steal his breath away every single time. So, naturally, once they'd arrived at their scenic destination and he allowed himself a moment to take it all in his gaze would find itself settling not on the view of the land or ocean but that of his beloved where it so often lingered.
"There is much appeal to be found in this view which encompasses nearly all of Mondstadt in the distance, but it pales in comparison to the beauty of Dawn Winery's finest treasure which I can state with confidence leaves the moon itself hiding away in shame knowing it could never hope to compete." And finally- finally- the old god allowed himself to take that which he had coveted since stepping foot in the land of freedom's borders, tugging Diluc closer by his hand so that Zhongli's other could snake around his waist and they could meet in a far-too-long-awaited kiss.
"Would it be inappropriate of me to state that I find holding onto propriety far more difficult every time I see you? I find myself envying the careless youth we come across in the city who seek approval from none but each other, but we are not quite naive children with the luxury of living in our own world apart from others, are we?"
it couldn't be helped; this wasn't the first time that diluc had considered bringing up the topic of marriage, but to have his lover address it in such a smooth, yet indirect way left him jarred and struggling to recover, no matter the state of his outward composure. fortunately, it didn't take too long, especially not when he'd been given the perfect opportunity to rebut zhongli in the way of which his employment was most useful. ' should i? a lowly mortal such as myself will tire if i'm left to endure such strenuous tasks all alone. besides; you're more than welcome to tell your stories and discuss with me whatever you'd like while your hands are otherwise put to good use. ' & while the statement remained as serious and unmoving as he'd meant it, it's punctuated by a cheeky grin as if to say nice try. zhongli would not be let off the hook so easily.
' luckily for you, i'm inclined to agree— proceeding without you would make for an unpleasant trip, and would i would wholly forgo. perhaps i will include your future toil in the vineyard for another time. ' today, it's diluc's pleasure to tease his most favored company, even if he would never allow such a thing to transpire unless he was thoroughly displeased with the consultant.
as they pressed onward toward their destination, diluc ensured their stop in springvale, where provisions were acquired for their journey's end, which lay at the peak of cape oath, where the sky met the sea and the air was crisp and refreshing. while the journey was long and riddled with obstacles, diluc was certain that it was worth the lack of propriety they both would need to show, as not a single soul save for the pair seemed to be present. with a basket of simple ingredients in hand, the young master tugged the old god in the direction of the cliff's edge, but not close enough to worry whether or not the ground would give way and send them both tumbling over.
' i'm certain the view here was worth the wait, no? '

Sometimes I venture out into genshin fandom spaces, see Zhongli blatantly mischaracterised as usual, and sigh. Lemme just say an angel loses its wings every time someone says he abandoned his nation/doesn’t care for his people, is broke, used to be a cruel brute, and so on.
This is why I don’t really engage with genshin content outside of Zhongli-focused circles lmao, or else I’d have to see the 1927th post about how “Zhongli used to be a wild god who was tamed into being the man we know now.”
(If anyone still holds any of these misconceptions, I’ll be happy to debunk them!)

08 Reward
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zhongli x Reader / NSFW / Rex Lapis is actively ruling Liyue. He's called Morax in here / Reader is a mortal priestess of Rex Lapis / Bogus adeptal art truth spell / Manipulation and gaslighting if you squint / Gosh smut is so hard to write, how do yall do it? This took me way too long >_<
"You deserve a reward." A content rumble reached your ear.
"To be able to serve Rex Lapis is rewarding enough." You answered, drizzling the fragrant oils into his hair and massaging it into the individual strands.
He's always enjoyed moments of leisure like this, shedding all the formalities along with his robes. The water within the spring was translucent like a flawless piece of jade. The steam rising from its surface obscured your vision. Droplets of moisture clung to the archon's face and neck. You couldn't help but admire the artistry that was his face. The wet strands of his hair spilled between your fingers as you combed through them. His horns glinted like the finest cor lapis. Beads of water slid down his skin, tracing the curves and valleys of his body. It was a good thing that his eyes were shut. If he caught you gazing so intently at him, your dignified image would be done for.
As one of Rex Lapis's personal attendants, you also held the position of divine priestess during his rites. This was already the highest possible honor endowed to a mortal, to be allowed in such proximity with the god himself. What more could you possibly ask for?
"Oh, but I insist." He lifted his gaze, peering at you through veiled eyes.
For a god who graciously answered the prayers of his countless followers, how could he neglect the prayers of his most devoted priestess?
"My Lord, it is an honor—" Your words dissolved on your tongue. The pad of his thumb pressed against your lips.
How many times had he heard these lips utter his name in the deep of night? Did you truly believe your hands were enough to muffle those sounds you made? Did you really expect him not to notice the way your eyes linger on him when he wasn't looking your way?
His lips curled ever so slightly at the thought. You were such a determined pretender. Even though he saw right through you, to the rest of Liyue, you were untouchable, carrying yourself with such convincing aloofness. It was quite amusing, watching you conceal yourself to this extent.
You craved his attention. Every glance of approval and hum of satisfaction fed your unquenchable flame. On the surface, the love you had for your dear archon was not so unlike any other follower of Rex Lapis. If you were to pluck out all these inappropriate tendrils of longing, you were no different from his other priests. Your admiration was just as deep. If anything, living in Jueyun Karst amongst the adepti allowed you to see with your own eyes how blessed the people of Liyue were to have the guidance and protection of Rex Lapis. You never took your responsibilities lightly as an intermediary between the archon and his people, carrying out his orders and bringing back their earnest offerings.
Mortals asked for many things. Riches, health, children, these were amongst the countless prayers uttered at his statues. You had desires too, as did any mortal, but your prayers were not intended for his ears. If they were, he would be hearing them directly from you. You kept them carefully hidden, or so you thought. Little did you know, the stones, the earth, even the bricks in your wall, they were all permeated with his power. So naturally, whenever you acted on these frustrating desires, he was present in a sense.
At first, he was simply curious, intrigued by what you could possibly be so tortured by. As his priestess, you had no lack for food, clothes, nor shelter. He showered you with trinkets and gifts that you were free to exchange for mora if you wished to. You were also not restricted from seeking what mortals called love. What sort of unfulfilled desires could you harbor?
All of those musings came to rest when his name slipped from your lips one night. You were curled up in your bed, eyes tightly shut. He could tell you weren't asleep. Your breaths were shallow, slightly urgent, as were your heartbeats. There was a furrow in your brows as your cheeks burned with arousal.
You had just returned to your chambers after accompanying the archon at the Luhua Pools. This was often your state after fulfilling your duties. It was futile to deny how easily lust managed to overtake you. Perhaps Rex Lapis wasn't aware because no mortal ever dared to speak of him in that way, but everytime you untied his belt, you wondered if he had ever taken a mortal to bed.
Your archon was no stranger to lust. He recognized it in your eyes whenever you accidentally let it through. It was a different sort of experience, being the object of desire.
"What do you wish for, my sweet?" He asks. "Surely you must not take me for an ungenerous god."
"I don't have…" You trailed off.
Morax rose out of the water, letting it cascade down his chest and splash against the stone ledge. You swallowed. The predictable heat spread over you as your gaze swept down his body, resting where it what was obsured by the moving water.
"You do, dear. Whether you will ask for it, I would rather not wait and see, but you need not question it. It would be unfair of me to withhold what you deserve."
He leaned into you, lips ghosting over yours, but not allowing them to touch. He chuckled at how quickly you abandoned your words, eyes shutting like the sensitive petals of a glaze lily.
"You could never be unfair, my Lord."
"That is certainly a flattering presumption." He smiled appreciatively. "I grant you permission to use my name instead of my titles. You prefer to call me by name when you are alone, if I'm not mistaken."
Confusion rippled in your eyes for a moment before his words dawned on you.
"I don't mean any disrespect, my Lord."
The logistics of how he knew didn't even occur to you yet, but the fact that he knew what name you called him by in the privacy of your own chambers had you scrambling to clear your name.
"I am sure you don't intend it." He mused. "While speaking my name in that manner may indeed be considered disrespectful to some, I do not mind it from you."
"You don't mind?" Your face lit up.
He nodded. "You may consider it your first reward."
You drew in an anxious breath. "Morax?"
"Not quite how I imagine it would sound on your lips, but I do enjoy it." He remarked cryptically.
His face was still so close, much closer than he had ever been. Warm breath fanned over your skin. His hand took its time, patiently tracing a wet path from your cheeks, along your jaw, sweeping your hair over your shoulder to expose the curve of your neck.
In all the years of serving your archon, he had never touched you like this. Everywhere his hand visited, the fabric covering your body became translucent, soaked through with water. Your body trembled, mind wandering as your senses melted into an intimate haze. By the time his lips pressed into yours, you were already breathless.
At first, every kiss seemed to be counted. Be it on your forehead, your neck, or your shoulder, each one was laid with intent, a reward you had been waiting for. He delivered them without hesitation. The further they trailed away from your lips, the more generous and uninhibited they became. He showered your neck with attention, nipping gently and leaving faint marks. The occasional gasp escaped your lips as you arched your neck, allowing him more access to your skin. You unraveled so easily, he almost felt guilty for not rewarding you sooner.
You held your breath as his hand found the tie of your robe, pulling it loose. He peeled the soaked fabric away from your skin, finally letting his lips caress it without the obstructing layers. His teeth grazed your neck, stopping at your pulse. He abruptly bit down, causing your whole body to tense. Your heart raced in anticipation.
"Sensitive thing. Does that excite you?" He hummed.
You winced as he nipped you again, this time on your clavicle.
Your archon's hands were still busy with removing your clothes. He had to pull away briefly to finish the task. Your legs dangled over the edge, partially submerged in the water. He parted them effortlessly, standing between them as he brought you closer against him.
"If you don't voice your desires, how am I to know how to best reward you, hmm?" He stroked your face dotingly.
"Wouldn't a priestess of Rex Lapis be expected to rise above worldly desires?"
"I do not see it that way. You are still mortal and I will not hold that against you. Many want Mora from me. They want blessings, guidance, protection, all things they desire for me to do for them. Yet you, my sweet priestess…" His finger latch under your chin, forcing your eyes to meet his. "You have no desire for gains."
"I don't know what you're saying."
Your shame would simply not allow you to admit that you lusted after your archon, even if he just called you out for it.
"Still denying it, I see." He smiled, raising a hand to free your bottom lip from your bite. "That will not do."
A bewitching glow emitted from the depths of from his amber pools. Your eyes became cloudy for a brief second before regaining clarity.
"My dearest priestess deserves to speak her mind." His breath tickles your ear as he whispered into it.
You nodded, not feeling anything out of the ordinary despite being certain that he had just done something to you. Your mind quickly flitted over what it could possibly have been, settling on one of his lesser-known abilities as the God of Contracts.
In the earlier days of Liyue's establishment, Rex Lapis was known to oversee contracts directly. He enacted harsh punishments for those who broke them. In order to prevent undermining from happening, he was rumored to use adeptal arts to force competing parties to speak openly and honestly in order to reach a mutually beneficial agreement. He couldn't read minds, but with a mere glance, he could have them spill their most guarded secrets. Such was necessary when it came to ensuring a fair and transparent contract. You weren't sure if that applied to you, but if he had in fact used adeptal arts on you, you would have no choice but to speak what was actually going through your mind.
"Now tell me, what did you truly mean to say?" The archon questioned you again.
"I was afraid you'd be disappointed in me." You thought aloud. "My devotion has become an abomination."
"Even gods are not immune to lust. Don't be so hard on yourself, my sweet." He purred, clearly pleased with your answer this time.
"You don't find it repulsive? That I imagine you in that way?"
"There is nothing that deems it wrong for you to desire me…"
You drew in an unsteady breath as he lowered his lips onto yours. The kiss was slow, but persuasive. You found yourself opening up for him, inviting his tongue in to sweep against yours.
His hands didn't remain, lowering onto your shoulders, making their way down to rest on your hips. You mirrored his intensity, getting bolder and more unrestrained. He chuckled against your lips, the deep vibrations sending tremors down your spine. This was the effect a little forced honesty had on you.
Fingers danced along your thighs, tracing the curve of your waist. You sucked in an unsteady breath when you felt his hands reach your chest. He fondled the soft flesh, paying attention to the sounds you made and the expressions on your face, adjusting his pressure according to your response. When the kiss ended, your lips were free to let out whatever sighs and moans came to it.
"I can see why mortals are so taken with pleasures of the flesh. My dearest, does this feel good?"
"Morax…" You panted as he lapped at your glistening slit. "I should be the one pleasuring you."
"Nonsense. It is challenging enough for me to find a way to reward you. I will not have you refusing it under the premise of who should be satisfying who."
He pulled your waist towards him, inserting his swollen tip into your sopping hole. You whimpered at the immediate stretch, arching your back off the ledge.
"I may even consider making this a reoccurance for you if you enjoy it enough." He rambled on as his cock began to massage your insides. "It's not as if I do not derive pleasure from this. You may consider it a mutually rewarding experience rather than an exclusive one."
Despite Morax claiming it was mutually rewarding, you couldn't help but feel inadequate. He groaned from time to time, but it was mostly you making all the noise. He was barely breaking a sweat while you were rendered incoherent, sobbing and crying as if you were being bullied.
"Dear, are you sure you're enjoying this?" He asked you, concern lacing his deep voice. This was your first time and he didn't want to leave you with an unpleasant experience. "You sound like you could use a rest. Would you like me to stop?"
"No!" You gasped as he slammed into you again. The smooth ledge met your back each time you took him to the hilt. "Don't stop!"
Some rewards were practical and required nothing of the recipient. Others were back-breaking, but worth the extra mile. This one was the later. The pleasure Morax was able to bring you far surpassed anything you could ever manage on your own. Whether it was Morax's tongue or his cock, he was not only able to reach deeper, but grind up against those spots that made your toes curl. With each thrust, you felt your mind break a little. Before you could catch your breath, another orgasm crashed into you, leaving you drenched and exhausted.
You had already come apart multiple times, but it was clear he could go on for at least a couple more rounds. All of this was seemingly effortless on his part, as if he was simply lifting a finger.
"Can't… Morax…" You pleaded desperately.
He slowed his movements to take a good look at you. Tears clung to your lashes and cheeks. Sweat dampened your hair, plastering it against your face and neck. Your legs were limp and covered in your own slick. The sight awakened something sadistic in him, but he knew better than to indulge that dangerous spark for longer than you could endure. He didn't want your reward to become his regret.
"A little longer, my sweet…" He lips brushed against your tearstained cheeks. "You can take it, hmm?"
You nodded tiredly. Anything for your beloved archon. What's a lovestruck priestess supposed to do, especially when asked in such a tone?
The warm, gushing water gave you some alleviation as his hands gripped your waist. As soon as his pace picked up, you wrapped your arms around his neck and braced yourself. You didn't have to wait long. Once his warmth flooded your insides, a sense of relief washed over you.
"Thank you." He pressed a tender kiss to your forehead once he had you all cleaned up and wrapped in a dry robe.
"What kind of cruel tart would I be if I didn't return the favor even once?"
"Do you understand why I insisted on rewarding you now?" He chuckled.
"That's different."
"How so?" He hummed. "I see everything you do, my dear. You must allow me to repay you in some way. As the God of Contracts, I cannot allow for a debt to go unpaid, especially my own."
"You better get used to it then." You shrugged. "Favors, you can tally up. Emotions and sentiments, you can't. Do you expect anything from the commonfolk for the millenia you watched over them?"
"Indeed I do not." He thought about what you said, agreeing with your line of reasoning.
"If my happiness means anything to you, then just do what you can to protect it. Isn't that what you've always done? Why are you overcomplicating it, hmm?" You teased the old god, using his own mannerism.
"Honesty has made you bold." He chuckled. "You are lucky I find everything you do endearing."
You face flushed at the reminder. "When does it wear off?"
"I will miss it. Allow me to enjoy it for a moment longer."
"I'm getting the feeling these rewards you're giving me are more rewarding for you than they are for me."
"Some things can be mutually rewarding, my sweet. It just so happens that I also find immense pleasure in what brings you pleasure." He smiled innocently.

Peaceful and enjoyable were not words Zhongli would have ever thought to associate with Mondstadt given the presence of a certain drunkard bard that he would expect to run into if he so much as stepped foot in the land of freedom, but as he found himself quietly sipping a passable cup of tea in a quieting bar late at night that is what he felt. The earlier hours had been a bit loud and rowdy, but as the night wore on the bar's patrons would find their way home leaving Zhongli to eventually be the last customer seated at a table, glancing at the bartender who was boring a hole right through him with a particularly fiery gaze.

"Is something wrong?" His head would tilt curiously as he settled the teacup on the table. "I haven't done anything to offend you, have I?"

There's something that excited you about your beloved that you never dared disclose to him. Every time you laid underneath him, writhing in anticipation as he tried to reign in his more primal impulses, there was an undeniable part of you that relished in the moment he snaps.
Every time his teeth accidentally pierces your skin, your heart beats faster. Your fingers curl tightly around his horns as you sink your hands into his hair. His eyes narrow and glow an unnatural shade of gold when they fall on your euphoric expression. It finally dawns on him. You enjoy this side of him. It's clear how much it arouses you. Your lips aren't the most honest, but your body keeps no secrets as his fingers sink between your dripping folds.
Choked screams spill from your lips as Zhongli takes you roughly, exactly the way you need him to. Your fingernails dug into his skin, scraping against the gem-like scales that had sprouted along his back all the way down the base of his spine. A thick scaly tail wrapped around your thigh, keeping you spread brazenly for him. Sharp talons clutched your hips firmly in place as he drove one of his monstrous cocks into your tiny, squelching hole over and over until your eyes rolled backwards.
This was not making love, which you were no stranger to, but sometimes your more basic needs begged to be satisfied in the most carnal of ways. You adored how utterly depraved the reserved consultant was capable of becoming. All you had to do was push the right buttons to get the version of him you wanted for the night.
