Hai there! I’ve previously asked about how you do colors (thx for that!) and I should’ve asked this back then as well, so here it goes:

In your art it looks like there are textures(? or texture like effects) on them, like, for example in your latest art…

…so I was wondering how you do them, do you have a specific brush or smthin like that or do you have another method?

hi again :D I will once again try my best at explaining!

most of those textures I created by colorpicking colors from a gradient in the painting and then using them to further "blend" the gradient.

here's a little example:

using a splatter/spray brush creates this effect:

(I used this specific brush which I believe is just a default Krita brush)

but sometimes I just blend by drawing a bunch of lines with a random pencil brush all the while constantly colorpicking new colors

or I draw random squiggles and circles

going back to that painting, at the end I tried to add somewhat of a holographic effect

but this video will probably be better at explaining this since I learned this method from there :)

oh and I'm not sure if you've already seen it but I showed a few other brushes I like using in this ask

Hi there, first I want to say I absolutely love your art, both DC and non-DC related stuff :)

Second, I wanted to know how you pick your colors for your art because the colors you pick are absolutely stunning.

and my "process" while picking colors/doing art is a little chaotic but I can try explaining it! (this will be a little long though):

I'll use this old lineart I never colored in as an example!

normally I start by picking a few colors I think look good together.

they often end up looking somewhat like this:

usually it's a dark blue, a somewhat dark red or pink, an orange or yellow, a bright blue or green and an almost white yellow.

I pick one of these colors (usually the orange/yellow) and use it as a base layer:

After that I use each color at least once.

This character will end up having reddish hair so I use the red/pink to color in her hair but also use it in other parts of the painting.

I do the same thing with the next color:

something I try to avoid is using colors in "sections" like this:

by using each color everywhere in the painting I get something like this:

after this comes the fun part! (at least for me)

I duplicate my color layer and start experimenting with different blending modes.

(this is in Krita btw)

linear burn for example ends up looking like this:

but there are many other modes I use depending on the situation

but in this case I pick linear burn and lower the opacity a little:

after that I tweek the contrast curve and adjust the color balance:

oh and another thing I like to experiment with is luminosity:

changing the hue, saturation and lightness of the luminosity layer can create some pretty cool effects:

but in this example I first clean up my painting while paying attention to the values:

then use the luminosity blending mode + some of the other previous steps:

and at this point I decided my painting was finished!
