“No, I don’twant them to get sick as well… This is much harder than I thought.”

Vector andEspio stood in Charmy’s room. The Chaotix had just gotten a call for a caseinvolving a woman’s missing purse. However, it just so happened that earlier inthe morning, Charmy had a very bad cough. Upon taking his temperature, Espioconfirmed that the bee was sick. Charmy was currently in his bed, a wet rag onhis head and a thermometer in his mouth as he softly groaned.

“Don’t worryCharmy… we’ll get you better. We promise.” Espio said, rubbing Charmy’sforehead. Charmy smiled at Espio, hoping that he was right.

“So Esp… have ya decided what we’re gunna do yet?” Vectorasked          

“Hm… we could take him to the doctor and leave quickly. Butthat seems irresponsible.”

“C-Can’t I go with you guys on the case?” Charmy said,coughing seconds later.

“Dontcha have one of those… erm… face mask things Esp?”

“The mouth mask? Oh, yes I do happen to have a few.”

“Great, we’ll just put one on him and he’s ready to go.”

“But don’t you think he should stay in bed? After all, heneeds to collect his energy.”

“That’s right… god dammit… this is harder than I thought…”

Finally, the ultimate decision was to leave Charmy home so hecould sleep a little bit of his illness off. Meanwhile, when the two reptileswere done with their case, they would head off to the pharmacy to pick up somemedicine and other supplies for Charmy. Vector and Espio left the ChaotixDetective Agency to head off to the home of their client.

“I just hope Charmy’s OK…” Espio said worryingly. Truth betold, even if he got annoyed with Charmy (albeit very rarely has it since thetwo reptiles started dating), the chameleon heavily cared about the wellbeingof the bee.

“Don’t worry Esp.” Vector said in an assuring tone. “We’llget him better, me and yerself.”

“Heh, it’s funny isn’t it. We’re acting like parents tryingto get their child better from illness.”

“Well we are a family aren’t we? Charmy’s the son… and well…”

“And what does that make me? The mom?”

Vector rubbed his hand down Espio’s back. “Yeah. You’ll bemom, and I’ll be dad. Sound fair?”

Espio smirked as he reached in and gave a small peck to Vector’ssnout. “Well, seeing as how I’m the voice of reason when it comes to you andCharmy, sure. It sounds fair.”

The two reptiles walked down the dirt path into town,continuing their conversation.

About fifteen minutes later, the two reptiles were at thepharmacy from their case. They were able to discover and catch the culprit ofthe stolen purse. The criminal was taken away by law enforcement as the womangot her purse back and paid the Chaotix a hefty pay. Currently, Espio washolding a basket in his hands as he scanned the aisle of the small grocerydepartment.

“Hey Vector, do you have your wallet with you?” The fuchsiareptile asked.

“Huh?” The crocodile said, distracted by his music. “Oh uh,yeah I do. How come? Forgot yours?”

“No I have mine. It’s just that they don’t sell fruit here,but there’s a small corner grocery store near here. Could you get me some limesand some salt?”

“Uh sure. What fer?”

“Something my mother did when I was younger and I had gottenill. Trust me; it’ll help Charmy a lot.”

“Alright, ya got it covered.”

The large green reptile left the aisle and out of thepharmacy. Espio checked the small list he made and saw that he had everything.

“Should be time to pay.” He said as he walked towards thefront of the store and to the counter to pay.

About ten minutes later, Vector and Espio finally returnedhome to the Detective Agency. Along with the limes and salt Espio had Vectorbuy, the chameleon brought home a few cans of chicken noodle soup, a two literbottle of ginger ale, cough medicine and cough drops.

“This should be it. Vector, can you go to Charmy’s room andgive him some of the medicine?”

“Sure, no prob.”

Espio reached into the bag and pulled out the red coloredmedicine.

“Just give him some water along with it to so he can wash itdown.”

Vector nodded and walked into the kitchen along with Espio.He opened the fridge and pulled out a bottle of water. As he walked off, Espiocrouched down and pulled out a pot and placed it on the stove. He opened thecan of chicken noodle soup and poured it into the pot along with some waterfrom one of the water bottles in the fridge.

Meanwhile, Vector opened Charmy’s door as he saw the beeyawning from his nap.

“O-Oh… hey guys…” Charmy softly said, coughing not too longafter that.

“Hey there pal.” The crocodile responded.

“Did the case go well?”

“Yeah, we got paid.”

The bee shot his hands into the air as he let out a smallcheer. But he coughed once again.

“Hey, ya dun need to worry ‘bout that cough. We got what yaneed here.”

Vector uncapped the bottle of medicine and took off theplastic medicine cup. He poured in one tablespoon of medicine as Charmy wasseven years old and uncapped the water bottle.

“Here; once ya drink the medicine, have some water.” Vectorsaid. Charmy threw his head back and gulped down the medicine, then some water.He laid back on his bed and smacked his lips.

“Mm… cherry flavored…” Charmy said.

“Heh, don’t think that’s all. We also got ya some honeyflavored cough drops.”

“Honey flavored?! Awh man, you’re the best!”

Vector remembered how much Charmy loved honey, as it was hisfavorite delicacy besides candy.

“Well, ya know me and Esp always think the best of yaCharmy.”

Right on cue, Espio came into Charmy’s room, his mittenedleft hand holding a bowl of hot chicken noodle soup while he held a cup ofginger ale in his right hand.

“Oh boy! Chicken noodle soup!” Charmy exclaimed hoarsely,coughing a few seconds later from how loud he used his voice.

“Correct you are. Now it’s pretty hot, and since I don’t wantyou to burn yourself, I’m going to feed it to you, alright?” said Espio as hepulled up a chair, placing Charmy’s lunch on his bedstand.

“Feed me? Espio… I’m not a baby anymore…”

“Ya our baby though.” Vector teased, pinching the bee’scheeks.

“V-Vector! You’re embarrassing me!” said Charmy, poutingcutely.

A sweat drop fell down the side of Espio’s head. “OK Vector,that’s enough…” The chameleon blew on the soup to cool it down as he scoopedsome of it with the spoon. “Alright, open up Charmy.”

For the next few minutes, Espio fed the soup to Charmy as healso took drinks from the cup of ginger ale. After the bowl was done, Charmydrank the last of the ginger ale as he placed himself back on the bed.

“Mmm… that was real good…” Charmy smiled contently.

“Ya feelin’ better?” asked Vector.

“A little bit.”

“Well that’s good, as long as you’re getting better, that’sgreat news.” said Espio.

Later that night, Vector and Espio gave Charmy some more soupand ginger ale for dinner. After he finished his meal, Espio took the limes andsalt he had Vector buy earlier that day. He boiled some water, and then placedit in another cup. He squeezed the limes and placed some salt into the water,mixing the two together with a spoon. Letting the lime and salt water cool downa bit, he gave it to Charmy a few minutes later.

“Go to the bathroom and gargle it. It’ll help.” said thechameleon.

The bee buzzed to the bathroom to do what Espio told him todo. After done gargling all the water, Espio announced it was time for bed.Charmy buzzed to his bed as Vector walked in.

“Before ya sleep, suck on one of these.” He said, givingCharmy one of the honey cough drops. Charmy happily accepted it and placed itinto his mouth.

“Thanks for everything you and Espio did. You guys are sonice.” Charmy said as Vector tucked him in. Espio walked into the room.

“Thanks Charmy, we’ll promise to make you feel better.” Thechameleon said.

“Alrighty, its lights out. Nighty night Charmy.”  Vector said. The two reptiles left the roomand turned off the lights in the bee’s room, shutting the door behind him.

This went on for the next few days, Vector and Espio stayingby Charmy’s side constantly. Some of Charmy’s friends stopped by to give himget well better cards and presents. On the night of third day of being sick,Charmy announced that he was feeling much better while the two reptiles werewatching some TV after dinner.

“That’s great to hear!” Espio said.

“Yup! Thank you Vector and Espio! I’m glad you stayed by meall these days!”

Charmy buzzed up to the two reptiles and gave them a big hug.The two reptiles looked at each other before looking back at their “child”,returning the hug.

“Well, it’s time for bed. Come on Charmy, I’ll tuck you intonight.” said the chameleon, letting go of the hug.
