He probably doesn’t really feel the need to “compete” for you—he already has you, after all!

He may have felt a little more insecure about being with you towards the start of your relationship, always having wondered if he was enough for an amazing (even talented) person like yourself. If he was still in that frame of mind, he'd be way more upset in this situation, but he’s grown since then!

But if you’re feeling uncomfortable from the unwanted attention, you’ll notice him progressively getting a little closer to you, maybe even bringing you to lean on him a bit or resting his cheek on your shoulder.

Byakuya Twogami

So, my instincts are to think about how the real Byakuya would respond.

And let me tell you, I really don’t think Togami would fight for you, unless the person hitting on you is being really insistent and making you really uncomfortable...

To him, you’re your own person, entirely capable of making your own decisions and telling someone to screw off if you feel like it.

But he’ll still watch over you and constantly analyze the situation, the way you shift awkwardly and hold your drink tighter, closer to your chest—that’s when he’ll intervene.

“Go away.” He’ll place a hand on your far shoulder and glare at whoever’s bothering you. Usually, that’s enough, but if the person continues to resist, he’ll insult and threaten to doxx them.

If this was actually Togami, he’d probably get his ass kicked, but Twogami’s larger frame will usually just make people retreat.

This is when Twogami’s real personality comes out a bit. He asks if you’re okay and reassures you just enough to not break character. I like to think he’s actually really sweet and cares for you deeply. If only he could really show it. :,,)

He’s weary of anyone even coming near you, let alone talking to you, let alone hitting on you.

So immediately upon hearing them say something he deems even slightly inappropriate, he’s yelling at the person.

Fuyuhiko doesn’t really leave the house without a trail of two or three bodyguards following closely behind. So when he starts yelling, you see a man dressed in black with dark glasses entering the place and reaching for his gun holster.

But Fuyuhiko doesn’t need bodyguards to strike fear into the hearts of anyone who messes with you. Most people leave pretty soon after he raises his voice.

But if they make the mistake of sticking around, Fuyuhiko will get physical, grabbing them by the collar and forcefully pushing them away. This is when bodyguards flood the place and, well, by then the person hitting on you is running for the hills.

Shortly after, Fuyuhiko will wrap an arm around you, and he’ll stay by your side for the entire night.

Akane lowers her head to hear her kouhai's chittering voice, then lifts it again to say, "She wants you to stop starin'. Where's yours, anyway? You lose him?"

"Oh, he hid under my hat while I was cooking; he didn't like the smoke. I think he fell asleep up there."

"Aren'tcha worried he'll run out of air or somethin'?"

Teruteru lifts his hat to take a slumbering Yasuhiro and place him on the tabletop. The movement appears to startle him awake. (And who can blame him.)

"Hifumi," Mahiru chides, picking up her kouhai and turning him around. "She said to stop staring!"

At another table, Hajime sits with Nagito, Kazuichi, and Nekomaru.

"Aww. Are you making friends?" Nagito says.

His little brown-haired kouhai, Makoto, has been especially social with the others. Based on the tentatively positive reaction of Kazuichi's sheepish kouhai, Makoto seems to be a nice guy. He even pries a bit of conversation out of Kyoko, who Hajime has observed to be pretty unforthcoming.

"This is weird, right?" Hajime says, pulling Nagito's gaze away from fondly watching the tiny Ultimates interact. "I feel like we've moved past how weird this is pretty quickly."

"Check this out," Kazuichi says, taking out a little gadget he's been working on. "This motor is going to power the door to Chihiro's terrarium."

"Her terrarium is going to have an electric door?"

"Amazing!" Nagito says. "It's going to be so cool to see what everyone comes up with."

"This is weird," Hajime murmurs again.

Chiaki sits with Peko, Hiyoko, and Ibuki.

"What do you mean you don't want candy?" Hiyoko protests.

Tiny Sakura points to the chicken on Peko's plate.

"Hey, I'm in charge! I set the menu around here."

Sakura walks closer and says something that Hiyoko bends down to hear.

"Ugh! Fine." Hiyoko gets up to grab Sakura some real food.

"We have a runaway!" Ibuki warns, pointing at Celeste, who is strolling away while Chiaki is focused on a game she's playing.

"Hey hey," Chiaki says mildly, picking Celeste up and holding her close to her ear. "Where are you going?" A short pause, listening. "Oh. You don't like watching me game? That might be a problem for our co-op compatibility..."

"There. Happy?" Hiyoko demands, sitting back down with a new plate.

Sakura says something back.

"You're welcome." Hiyoko is trying to pout, but she's blushing a lot.

"Byakuya" sits with Gundham and Mikan, and Fuyuhiko stands off to the side.

Gundham has been having a harder time managing his kouhai than most, since there aren't a lot of spots on his person that he can safely keep a small person that aren't already inhabited by hamsters. He's been settling for letting her stand on the palm of his hand at all times, though a brief moment where he had to set her on his shoulder so he could bring his food to the table with both hands resulted in her sneezing from the hamster hair, and that was a weird couple of minutes before she sneezed again and seemed to calm down.

(They're all given information on their kouhais, so Gundham actually knows what happened there, but he doesn't explain it to anyone else.)

Now, Toko is chittering at Imposter's kouhai, and it does not seem to be a nice conversation. Mikan's kouhai intervenes, and he speaks loudly enough that most of his chitters are decipherable without bending down; he says something about "inappropriate language".

"He's standing up for his friend," Mikan says, smiling delightedly. "I'm so proud. Is this what it's like...?"

"What what's like?" Fuyuhiko asks, from his corner.

Before she can answer, their pleasant lunch is interrupted by a sudden appearance from Usami. She tells them again that their job is to have fun and make friends on this school trip and help their kouhais do the same, and-

Usami looks immediately panicked, as an unfamiliar sound fills the room.

Absolutely! Mikan regularly disregards doctor-patient confidentiality. It's a power thing.

You wouldn't know Ibuki Mioda was any different as a member of Ultimate Despair. Teruteru upgraded to a blood-red chef outfit, Peko's sporting skimpier clothes that really bring out her tatas, Gundham is draped in a freaking snake. Everything Ibuki tries just looks like more of the spunky punk fashion she'd wear in school.

It's not just that it's the same-ol-same-ol. It's that Ibuki looks like a kid. And she IS a kid. But so are Sonia and Fuyuhiko, and her pristine regalia and his spiffy tailored suit serve up a more mature brand of evil. That's the other thing: punk fashion isn't evil! This isn't an 80s movie. How unfuckwithable can you really be when your top's most distinct feature is a bunch of SAFETY pins?

But what if ... no, that's crazy. Wait, that's exactly why she should do it. Ibuki vaguely recalls catching this crazyass art movie late one night. She tuned into Tetsuo: The Iron Man thinking she'd watch Robert Downey Jr., and what she got was way more disturbing. After successfully blocking it from her memory, it returns in a flash of inspiration.

Ibuki could ask Kazuichi to help. And he encourages her, the way they'd encourage all their worst fashion ideas back in school. But the reward he demands in exchange is, um, not something she wants to give him. Jeez, he's gotten even creepier lately. After giving him the slip and jacking some of his junk, she knows who can help ...

Mikan is Ultimate Despair's most loyal lieutenant, and one of its busiest. She doesn't usually have time for Ibuki's foolishness these days. There are experiments to run, scores to settle, and the world's most amazing girlfriend/cult leader to please. But when her old classmate comes in with a box full of debris and an unusual request, it gets her attention. She's put metal into people before, but that usually means slicing organs with scapels or drilling into skulls. Turning Ibuki into a half-baked cyborg ("Half-baked PUNK ROCK cyborg!") ... There are possibilities.

Granted, the odds of terrible infection are sky-high, and the payoff on Ibuki's end seems minimal. The impulsive brat will probably balk at the pain and cut things off early with a couple new fixtures on her body. But torturing her a little could be fun, and Mikan might even learn something useful - something she could take back to Junko, something that might get her a reward. To everyone's surprise, she agrees.

When the time comes, there's no anesthesia. Mikan assures the gullible girl that it's not punk rock. Think of it, she says, like any other tattoo or piercing. The nurse cuts a fissure into her wrist, which is quickly plugged with a scratched-up steel hex head. Careful burning seals it into place.

To Mikan's aggravation, Ibuki screams the whole time. It's like one of her concerts, except right into her one-woman audience's ears. The pain must be incredible. But when it's done, the patient, her makeup smeared with tears and her whole prone body shaking, asks for a short break before the next procedure.

One becomes two, then three, with another scheduled for tomorrow. Across several days, Mikan covers Ibuki's skin with smelted hardware, broken fasteners, dead wires, spikes, tubes. Despite the pain and all the bed rest, Ibuki has a swagger in her step. Punk was fun, but cyberpunk is the way of the future, baby! At first the ornamentation is only on the arms and shoulders. But Ibuki wants them on less visible areas, too.

Sex has always been part of Mikan's experience in Ultimate Despair. Junko likes for her to wear a skimpy Halloween costume in lieu of more professional and sanitary attire, and the power trip of operating on terrified and helpless patients can leave her hungry for attention that her mistress sometimes gives. But something about Ibuki's resilience in the face of such profound and pointless agony, and her willingness to let Mikan experiment on her body, awakens something in her. At first this work was both a chore and a lark. Now, it's a reward unto itself. The more she savages Ibuki, the more beautiful she seems. Her nightly vigils take a more amorous turn, which Ibuki eagerly accepts.

But Ibuki can't do much with her body anymore. She's weak. Infections run rampant. Microscopic flakes of metal almost certainly course through her blood, shredding every vessel along their circulation. This is not the right way to get more iron in her body. Mikan finds herself backing down from more procedures, even as Ibuki asks for them. The patient babbles about some movie she once watched, saying something about conquering the world with their love.

She wouldn't be the first person to die from Mikan's perverse idea of medical care. But this is the first time that possibility fills the nurse with guilt and horror. Ibuki trusted her. Ibuki relished her company. Ibuki saw Mikan at her worst, a sight many do not see and survive, and wanted more.

The truth is, Mikan was never in this for despair. She did it because she loved Junko - the way she treated her, the way she paid attention to her, the way she forgave her for being nothing more than her sorry self. As she spoonfeeds Ibuki, helps her wipe herself in the bathroom, watches her decompose before her eyes, a new purpose arises in Mikan.

Junko calls her over one night. It's been a while since she's even heard from Mikan, who normally doesn't go more than a day without a breathless report, or at least a booty call. Mikan breaks down and tells her almost everything. Ibuki wanted to do this stupid thing. Mikan did it, again and again. Now she's dying.

"Damn, that bitch is crazy," Junko says. "Kind of a waste, but all for a noble cause."

Mikan's face must have visibly fallen, because Junko is going awww with a finger on her chin. "Know what we can do?" She looks up at her beloved. "We can ask Kazuichi to cube her. Like a junkyard car. You can keep her around."

Junko smirks now. "So. Wanna take a break and fool around?"

Future Foundation was always on the hunt for Junko Enoshima and her minions, following rumors, horror stories, and evidence from the cryptic and disturbing work of the former Ultimate Photographer. The leads are often scant. They're guided just as much by hope as by intel.

So no one expects it when Mikan Tsumiki, one of the most feared and dangerous and wanted members of this movement's leadership, staggers to a field camp set up by the 14th Division with another notorious member in her arms.

She'd walked all night. Now, she falls to her knees before a crowd of locked-and-loaded soldiers. A few reel at the sight of Ibuki Mioda. Much of her mutilated form glints with the rising sun.

Cooler heads among the gunmen yell for Mikan to put her hands up. She can't. That would mean letting go.

Ibuki makes a soft sound.

The soldiers close in, rifles still aimed at heads and hearts. "Save her," Mikan sobs. "Save her."

I played a fan translation of the first game back after everyone was reading it on the something awful forums lmao

I'd have to say my top faves are Asahina and Sakura, they're both just fun and sweet and have a great dynamic between them- which speaking of great dynamics Ishimaru, Mondo, and Chihiro are all fantastic as well, two rambunctious idiots and the most earnest sweetheart 😭😭

Also I like Fukawa and by extension Jack but I'm gonna wrap their head in duct tape if Byakuya gets near lmao

Super Danganronpa: Goodbye Despair

I originally played this one back around like uhhh 2017?? Ish?? Idk I played it and had a blast and loved the cast, which is what made me want to replay it actually

I love them all they're all chefs kiss (except the chef Teruteru himself I'm also wrapping his head in duct tape when I need to)

I'd have to say my top faves would be Gundham, Kazuichi, Fuyuhiko, Ibuki, and Mikan, but really I do very much adore the entire cast and the way the game itself pans out and shows their relationships with one another, they feel like they could all be a really good friend group had things turned out better for them

Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls

So fun fact about this one I've actually never played it oops

HOWEVER I did get ahold of the manga trilogy- of which they were all used copies so volume 1 has nearly every forward facing character having a little drawn on pencil moustache and volume 2 has an entire panel just cut out of it, honestly I'm surprised the third volume doesn't have anything wrong with it LMAO cursed books

As far as the characters that are specific to this game I did think Shirokuma was quite cute and Asahina's brother was fun while he was around

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony

Okay so this one- I started playing it a few months back because I had actually never gotten around to it back when I first got ahold of it, and it's the one that has my partners favorite character in it lmao

I actually put it down because I got too upset after chapter 4 oops, but now me and one of our friends have been watching my partner play the final hurdle so we've only got the final chapter left 💪💪✨

Character wise I do like Shuichi, Maki, and Kaito and the friendship they build between the three of them a lot, I also liked Ryoma more than I anticipated and I adore Gonta 😭

Miu can be fun and god I want to like her more than I do but then she says things and she's getting a triple duct tape wrap LMAO

DRDT was the first one I saw, probably since I imagine it's one of the most popular, and ohh. I LOOOVE Teruko!! teruko they will never make me hate you. She and Whit are definitely some of my favs,, because. well. SDRA2 took me a good week to watch, and ill admit. i didnt finish chapter 6 (ノ_＜。) I was really sick when I watched chapters 3 and 4, and it didnt help that i was pulling all nighters because i was so hyperfocused i couldnt sleep. chapter 3's trial is unironically one of the most entertaining things Ive ever seen in any dr game AND fangan EVER. Like guys!! what is happening here!! that being said, I sort of knew who the culprit would be cus i was spoiled just a tiny bit, but I was STILL SURPRISED AT THE END cus ohhh my god. the twist. Sora is one of my fav protags ever btw I love yuri and NO not the character Yuri althohgh. he was really funny ill admit. He wasnt creepy in the Hifumi/Teruteru way and i really appreciate him for that. i also laugehd when they found him and he was like "Oh hi guys!" totally normally. dont get me started on... teruya and mikado ...... duuuudee they were actually tweaking literally what were they even doing. This fangan captured DR essence very well and took it a step further in an even more unhinged way, probably due to tbe lack of limitations on monetization n stuff, and honestly I APPLAUD that. i want what they have lowkey

Danganronpa Lapse is the one I played most recently and HOOOLY SHIT do not get me STARTED. ECHO!! ECHOOOO!!!!!!!!!! i was SO HAPPY finding a nonbinary dr protagonist you have no idea. and they were SOOO CUTE </3 DR Lapse is definitely a LOT shorter than any usual DR format and it deviated a lot, but despite that it still felt like a Danganronpa game and everyone there was SO. i was so in love with them. rip lyle you wouldve loved your turn to die. I do have to admit I was a little confused on the ending, but overall I really really enjoyed it. Also Zero was there and that makes it an immediate 11/10 thank you zero for accidrntally making me give you the funniest possible voice for your character

ok so it just hit me..now. BUT!! I have seen a little bit of Cartoons in Danganronpa!! I really really need to watch the prologue and..yknow...actual chapter instead of just watching the class trial and being absolutely blown away by every tiny thing. Theres a lot of characters in there I LOVE and especially seeing DIPPER GOD DAMNED PINES?? IN DANGANRONPA???? AND ERIC CARTMAN?? absolutely peak. funniest thing ever. but also i am so scared for the conclusion of that trial because the suspects are worrying. Also shoutout to Gaz for being the funniest one there . The artwork is so similar to their respective styles but you can still so clearly see a touch of the creator's own style and that really gives the entire fangan its own charm. The voice work!! Incredible. Thats another thing that hit me hard with DRDT TOO!! THE VOICE ACTING!! fuuuck it's sooo good ugh

"Yeah, she can tell." (Makoto interspersed his counting throughout his explanation.) "I always thought she was joking when she said fifty, but one day I tried it, and it actually curbs a lot of her, uh, mischief."

In fact, Junko was genuinely falling asleep, her head dipping to rest against his knee.

Nagito looked fascinated. "You mean, she notices if you skip numbers or-?"

"Yep. If I try to cheat, she acts out again."

"Amazing. That seems to mean she can still count!"

"I guess so."

"Does she still talk?"

"Noises, mostly. Sometimes she says words, but they seem random. When Kyoko says words, they're definitely related to what she means to say. I'm not sure if Junko still understands what she's saying or if she just remembers the sounds of some words." He switched sides. "One...two..."

"She's putting a bone in your sock," Nagito observed.

Junko's eyes were still closed, and her body was still relaxing against Makoto's leg, but her hand had found his ankle and slipped a sparrow's vertebrae as deep into his sock as she could get it. It looked like she did it just absentmindedly.

"Yeah, she does that. It's fine. I'll take it out later. The real problem is when she pretends to choke on a bone so I'll get close enough for her to bite. She's really good at it."

"Hmm." Nagito smiled absently. He set aside his popcorn to help Ibuki un-snag her shirt from one of her piercings, but his mind was still on the previous topic, as evidenced by him shortly inquiring, "Do you like it when they bite you?"

"Like it? What do you mean?"

"Well, at some point, doesn't it start to seem like a sign of affection?"

"Oh, that. I guess in a way, yeah. I mean, they're definitely not doing it because they want to hurt us. It's just part of how they communicate. It's to show us what they're feeling."

"Exactly!"

Makoto wasn't sure what to make of Nagito's big grin, but he did his best. "It's pretty reassuring, how they can still make sure we understand them. It shows that they're still themselves, even though they're different in a lot of ways."

"Still themselves," Nagito echoed wistfully.

"...Forty-eight...Forty-nine...Fifty." Makoto finished at last with the other pigtail and carefully maneuvered Junko to sleep on something other than him. While he was getting her settled, Leon took the hairbrush and started brandishing it at him, but he merely said, "Sorry, but my hands need a rest. We'll do it later, okay?"

Leon tried to forcibly wrap Makoto's hand around the brush, and when Makoto stood his ground about taking a break, Leon huffed and threw it so hard across the room that he cracked the leg of a desk.

"You're just gonna have to go get it," Makoto said wearily.

Leon stalked away to get the brush.

Nagito offered Makoto some of his popcorn. He took a few kernels.

"That's one way he's different," Makoto said. "Leon never wanted anyone to touch his hair before."

"The dye job looks good," Nagito observed. "It was your first time, right?"

"Yeah. They sent me instructions with the dye, though, when I told them how agitated he was about his roots growing in." Makoto smiled at the memory. It had been difficult to dye Leon's hair, but he did feel like it had brought them closer. "My hands were stained for days."

Nagito looked at him a little oddly. Almost...sadly? No, that wasn't quite it.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing's wrong."

"Then, what are you thinking about?"

Nagito took some more popcorn, affecting a casual look. "Just that it's ironic, that's all."

"Ironic? That...my hands were stained? Or...?"

"Ah, Teruteru!" Nagito sighed, pulling his bag of popcorn out of the way too late to stop Teruteru from dropping a handful of bloody meat into it. "Well, that's a shame. We had so much left."

"I've been thinking about that," Nagito said. "What if, every now and then, we took the athletes outside? They really do need more room to run around."

What? Makoto checked to see if he was serious. "Outside? Where the reserve course are?"

"Oh, I'm pretty sure most of them are hunkered down in the reserve course buildings. And if we both do it together, then we can both make sure there aren't any problematic consequences. I think Peko and Sakura will stop the others from going too far."

"Yeah, maybe they would..." Makoto frowned. "But I still don't- Oh, hold that thought; Syo has scissors again." He sprang to his feet. "Byakuya! Help?"

Hina ended up being the one to restrain Syo, who had come perilously close to cutting off Hiyoko's ponytail.
