My prompt was "Ambulance" so here's a special one --------------------

It was the biggest riot Cook County Prison ever had. All rescue units were called due to multiple inmates stabbed and injured.

EMT Ian knew where he was going. He was terrified. Was Mickey safe?

Once there, his eyes searched among the many bruised men. Soon, he saw Officers Evie and Vey carrying a pale unconscious Mickey, covered in blood. His heart stopped. -- Put him inside here, I'll check him

As soon as they were alone, Mickey opened one eye with a smile

-- Missed me, doc? -- Oh Jesus, Mickey!! Is this fake blood?! -- Shut up and shut the ambulance door

after literal years i finally got around to downloading a pdf of the wipers times, an unsancitioned satitical british trench magazine circulated among the troops in france from 1916-1918 after the fortuitous discovery of a printing press. i have approximately five million other things i need to read so idk when i'll be able to devote much time to it, and i gotta pick up a proper copy bc it's missing at least salient no 4 vol 2. that said? i'm genuinely laughing at what i've skimmed so far

I really enjoy how Edwin subverts the expectations for his character archetype. Usually, if you had a character that was a mousey unpopular teenager who'd gotten bullied to death, they'd be shy and laden with insecurities, easily steamrolled by characters with more force of personality -- but instead, by the time you meet him in the show, Edwin's ego is basically bulletproof.

He is entirely confident in himself, and comfortable being himself, free to be as fussy, effeminate, and old-fashioned as he likes, because the only person whose opinion of him he gives a fuck about is Charles, and Charles thinks everything about Edwin is brilliant and he can do no wrong. Thirty years of Charles's radical acceptance has allowed him not only to be himself, but to be himself fearlessly.

And I think that's beautiful. :)
