Could I request a fanfic featuring a male reader x Jenna, where they are co-stars in Beetlejuice 2? The story follows the trope "she fell first, but he fell harder." Jenna falls for the reader during filming, but later, the reader also falls for her—and much harder.
i like you, i do
Pairings ; Jenna Ortega x Male!Reader
Warning/s ; none
The lights on set flickered as another take wrapped up. You were in your full costume—black and white pinstripes, messy hair, and green makeup smeared across your face as you played your role in Beetlejuice 2. The director’s voice echoed across the set, calling for a quick break before the next scene. You glanced at Jenna Ortega, your co-star, who had been absolutely killing it as Lydia’s daughter.
From the moment filming had started, you noticed something different about her. Jenna had an infectious energy, always professional and kind to everyone on set. She had a knack for slipping into character instantly, but off-camera, she was the first to crack a joke or offer a smile. There was something magnetic about her, but you chalked it up to her being a talented actress.
What you didn’t realize was that she had started to notice you too.
Jenna had always been good at keeping things professional, but over the past few weeks, something had shifted. Maybe it was the long hours spent on set together or the easy banter you shared between takes. You didn’t see it, but every time you made her laugh, her eyes lingered on you a little longer. When you walked past her, she couldn’t help but follow you with her gaze.
It was subtle at first—the way she’d find excuses to sit next to you during lunch breaks, the small comments she’d make about how great your performance was that day. It wasn’t until one night, during an after-hours shoot, that you noticed something had changed.
You were waiting for the next setup, leaning against a prop table and going over your lines. Jenna walked up beside you, her face still smeared with a bit of makeup from her last scene. She was dressed in Lydia’s iconic goth aesthetic, but the soft smile she gave you was worlds away from the character she was playing.
“Tired?” she asked, her voice casual, but there was a hint of something deeper in her eyes.
You smiled back, shrugging. “A bit. But you know how it is—long days come with the job.
Jenna tilted her head, her gaze flickering over your face like she was seeing something no one else could. “You’re doing amazing with the role, though. Really. I’ve seen you work on other films, but this… I don’t know, it just feels like you’ve completely embodied the character.”
You chuckled, rubbing the back of your neck. “Thanks, that means a lot coming from you. You’ve been killing it as Lydia’s daughter.”
She smiled at your compliment but didn’t look away this time. “You ever think about what happens after the movie wraps up?”
You furrowed your brow, not sure where the conversation was heading. “What do you mean?”
Jenna shrugged, her hand absentmindedly brushing against yours as she leaned on the table. “I don’t know… We’ve spent a lot of time together, and it’s been fun. But what happens when we’re not filming together every day?”
There was a weight behind her words that caught you off guard. You blinked, glancing at her, and for a second, it felt like the air between you changed. You hadn’t thought much beyond the movie. Sure, you got along great, but this was a job—at least, that’s what you had told yourself. But now, with Jenna looking at you like that, you couldn’t deny the connection building between the two of you.
“I guess we just… move on to the next project,” you said, though the words sounded hollow as they left your mouth.
Jenna’s gaze flickered down, and for a moment, you thought you saw something like disappointment in her eyes. But she quickly covered it with a soft laugh. “Yeah, I guess so.”
The conversation ended, but it left you thinking. Over the next few days, you started to notice all the little things you had been ignoring—the way Jenna would glance your way when she thought you weren’t looking, how she’d laugh a little harder at your jokes, the way she’d linger after filming when everyone else had gone home. It was subtle, but it was there.
You didn’t want to assume anything, though. Maybe she was just being friendly. Maybe you were imagining it. But then, one night after filming, she invited you to hang out at a small diner nearby. It was just the two of you, and the conversation flowed as easily as it did on set, but this time, it felt more personal.
At one point, as you both laughed about some behind-the-scenes mishap, Jenna’s smile faded slightly, and she looked at you with that same look from before—the one that felt like it was asking more than what her words said.
“You know,” she began quietly, “I wasn’t sure about this movie when I first signed on. But meeting you… it’s made it better.”
Your heart skipped a beat. There was no mistaking the look in her eyes now. She liked you. And for the first time, you realized you liked her too. You hadn’t been paying attention, too focused on your own work to notice, but now that it was in front of you, you couldn’t ignore it.
But even then, you hadn’t fallen yet—not completely.
It wasn’t until the last few weeks of filming that you started falling, and you fell hard. The more time you spent with Jenna, the more you realized how much you loved being around her. She was funny, down-to-earth, and despite her fame, she never let it get to her head. Every moment with her felt easy, natural. You found yourself looking forward to her texts after a long day of shooting, smiling when her name popped up on your phone.
You’d catch yourself thinking about her at random moments—during rehearsals, on your way home, even when you were supposed to be focusing on other things. It was like everything about her had crept under your skin, and now you couldn’t shake the feeling.
One evening, after a particularly emotional scene, you were both walking off set when she stopped you.
“Hey,” she called softly.
You turned to see Jenna standing just a few feet away, a soft, almost nervous look on her face. She shifted on her feet, biting her lip before she spoke again.
“I need to tell you something,” she began, her voice almost timid. “I… I’ve liked you for a while now. I didn’t want to say anything because I wasn’t sure if you felt the same. But now that the movie’s almost over, I don’t want to miss my chance. I really like you, Y/N.”
For a second, you stood there, stunned. She had fallen first. All this time, she had been waiting for you to catch up. And now that she had said it out loud, the weight of your own feelings hit you like a tidal wave.
You stepped closer, your heart pounding as you looked at her. “Jenna… I didn’t realize it until now, but I like you too. A lot. Maybe even more than I should.”
Her eyes widened, and a slow smile spread across her face, one that made your heart race even faster.
Before you could say anything else, she closed the distance between you and pressed her lips to yours. It wasn’t a rushed kiss—it was slow, sweet, filled with all the feelings that had been building between you both for months.
When you pulled away, you rested your forehead against hers, both of you breathless but smiling.
“Guess I fell harder than I thought,” you admitted with a grin.
Jenna laughed softly, her arms wrapping around your waist. “I think we both did.”
From that moment on, things were different. You and Jenna had found something special, something neither of you expected when you first started filming. It wasn’t just about the movie anymore—it was about each other.
Filming wrapped up a few weeks later, and while you both moved on to new projects, your relationship stayed strong. The chemistry you had on set carried over into real life, and no matter how busy things got, you always found time for each other.
And every once in a while, when you caught Jenna looking at you with that same soft smile, you’d remind yourself just how lucky you were to have fallen for her—because while she might have fallen first, you definitely fell harder.

“𝐓𝐀𝐊𝐄 𝐀 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊!” — feat. kaveh & reader !
synopsis. kaveh is not having a great week. luckily, he has a best friend to distract him.
✦ contents. platonic! they are friends! best friends! modern au (they're still in university though.) some sumeru character cameos. gn!reader. fluff. 3.1k words.
✦ notes. this is my secret santa gift for.... @tragedy-of-commons! merry christmas gwen, i hope you enjoy!!! i did my best to make this as silly and fun as possible :"))
“Wow... you look even worse than I left you.”
Kaveh groaned, squeezing his eyes shut. The desk was cold under his forehead, a sweet relief from the headache pounding behind his eyes. Maybe he could lay there a little while longer, languishing in his misery, and you would lose interest and leave him. Maybe...
“Hey! Don't fall asleep on me!”
Alas, such mercy would never find him. If your voice—far too loud for a library, he would say—wasn't already enough to disturb his brooding, then the rolled up paper in your hands definitely did the job.
“Ouch,” He mumbled, rubbing the back of his head. “Leave me 'lone...”
“Nope, not a chance.” You slip into the seat directly across him, your chin resting on the palm of your hand. “So, how much progress has been made?”
“I'm at about—” Kaveh sat up wearily, sifting through his scattered papers. “—21%.”
“Weren't you at 30% an hour ago?” You blinked.
“Yes.”
“Oh, Kaveh—”
“I'm fine, I just need... some time.” Kaveh gritted out, scanning the dozens of failed designs and hastily written notes. “And... and some inspiration. And maybe some coffee too.”
“And some sleep?”
“Are you kidding?” He scoffed, as he gathered the papers into a neat pile. “I can't sleep now. I need to get this project done, or else I'm failing this class. I can't afford a fail right now, this is making up 50% of my grade, and I only scored an 85 on the written exam, and my draft is due in a week and—”
A smack in the middle of his forehead snapped him out of his rambling. Kaveh reeled back, nursing the faint sting, as you re-rolled the paper in your hand.
“What was that for!” He cried.
“You can't keep wallowing, you're never going to get anything done! It's about time you took a break.” Carefully, you unroll the paper you were holding, to reveal a colourful poster. “And I know exactly what we can do!”
Kaveh squints at the flyer. It looked to be hand-drawn and photocopied, depicting a bustling market with smiling visitors holding mouth-watering food and bags stuffed with souvenirs. Across the top, the text read: Come visit Sumeru's Fair!
“A fair...” Kaveh murmured, reading the fine text. “This says it's only open the last week of December.”
You paused, shooting him a suspicious look. “Kaveh, do you know what day it is?”
“Uh... December... something?” He guessed.
“Well—Well, yeah.” You huffed, snatching the poster back to wave in his face. “The point is, you need some time to clear your head, and I don't want to go alone. So...?”
-----
By some miracle, your persuasion (and Kaveh's weak will towards anything you try to convince him to do) is effective enough to leave his project behind. The gates are swarming with people when you arrive, a few familiar faces sticking through the crowd, along with dozens of families and couples enjoying the festivities.
“Two tickets, please!” You grinned, handing over some money to the salesperson before Kaveh could even offer to pay for his own. The tired-looking employee hands over the tickets, and you grab Kaveh's hand to drag him towards the entrance. “Thank you!”
As soon as you step through, there is a rainbow of colours filling his vision. Brightly coloured stalls are set up with carnival games, food, and other attractions on either side, forming an aisle. Behind them, he could see a Ferris Wheel peeking out over the tents, as well as some other rides he couldn't quite make out.
“What should we do first?” You asked excitedly, scanning your surroundings.
“Wasn't this your idea?” Kaveh raised an eyebrow. “Shouldn't I be asking you that?”
“Ever heard of living in the moment?” You chided, looping your arm through his to lead him forward. “Do you have money?”
Kaveh rolled his eyes, allowing himself to be pulled along. “Do you think I—”
“No, you're broke, I don't know why I asked. Okay, I have some money. Enough for a few rides and some food, at least.” You paused to take a breath, glancing over to a stall on your left. “Woah, look at that!”
Kaveh followed your gaze, to a small stand set up with a simple throwing game. There were a few old cans stacked up, and a grinning attendant looking back at the two of them with a beanbag in his hand. That wasn't what caught your attention though. No, your eyes were firmly fixed on the stuffed animal hanging at the back of the stall, dangling just out of reach like Tantalus' fruit.
“It's a peacock!” You gasped, hand reaching out as if to try and touch the plush feathers sewn into its tail. For a carnival prize, it was remarkably well-made, and utterly adorable; there was no wonder you looked entranced by it.
“Something you like?” The attendant crooned. He tossed the beanbag from hand to hand, casually throwing it in the air and catching it again. “You get three tries, knock all six cans over and pick whatever prize you want.”
Kaveh squinted at the cans. It looked easy, deceptively easy. The beanbag was soft, but appeared to be sturdy enough to knock the cans down in one go, and yet none of the prizes had been won yet. The entire game seemed fishy, but the prospect of the peacock plushie in your hands was enough to distract you. Before he could even voice his skepticism, you had bought three tries.
“Here you go,” The man behind the booth tossed you three beanbags and stepped out of the way as you lined up your throw. The first hit one of the cans squarely in the middle, but bounced right off.
“Argh!” You gritted your teeth and aimed again, as Kaveh's frown deepened.
The second throw was heavier, and hit one of the middle cans, dislodging the structure but failing to knock it down.
“Last go! Good luck.” The man laughed brightly, and you scowled. You threw the beanbag one last time, knocking the can at the very top over with the sheer force of your throw. “Nicely done! Let me get your prize.”
Your eyes lit up in anticipation, before he handed you a dusty pack of cards, the flimsy kind you would find in a discount store. “Oh... is that it?”
“Try knocking them all over, if you want something better.” He chuckled. “Unless you wanted to try again...?”
You thought about it for a moment, considering the obvious baiting versus how badly you wanted that prize. You nodded, and Kaveh sighed.
This time though, he paid attention.
The way that the cans moved when you hit them was odd. Hitting either in the center row, or the middle one in the bottom row didn't shake it enough to move much at all, but the top can knocked over easily. If he had to guess, they were weighted differently to make the structure more stable, and much harder to topple. The closest you got to tipping over any of them was when one of your beanbags hit the one on the far left, moving it slightly out of place.
Interesting.
“Ugh, this is impossible,” You groaned, after wasting another three tries.
“You're getting better each time!” The attendant said, while he fixed the can that was askew.
“Let me try.” Kaveh cut in. He handed over some of the little money he'd brought with him, and took the offered bean bags.
“Good luck,” You told him ruefully. Kaveh took a deep breath, steeling himself. His aim wasn't terrible, but with the game being as obviously rigged as it was, he wasn't certain he'd be able to hit it.
The first throw, he hit the corner can directly in the middle, just hard enough to push it backwards slightly. It didn't topple the structure, but after zeroing in on the weakest link, knocking it down would be easy.
The second throw was slightly short, only hitting the side of the can. It moved it, causing the stack to wobble, but did little to actually achieve his goal of making it fall over.
Finally, he lined up his last throw. This was it, his last chance. With all his force, he hurled the beanbag at the tower of cans, hitting the corner squarely and pushing it right over. Without the bottom to support it, the second and third layer fell down, knocking over the other cans as well.
“You did it!” You cheered, squeezing Kaveh in a quick hug.
“Congratulations!” The man said, fishing behind the counter for something. “Here you go.”
In his hands was an ugly stuffed bear, with fluorescent pink fur and beady black eyes. He held it out like it was a diamond ring, grinning at Kaveh with finality.
“Oh... but didn't you say if I knocked down six cans I could choose whatever one I wanted?” Kaveh asked, wondering if he misheard the man. He nodded towards the plush you were eyeing. “I actually wanted the peacock over there.”
“Well, see, you have to knock them down in one try if you want the big prize.” The attendant scoffed. “Or else it doesn't count.”
“You didn't say that!” You protested. “You only said knock three cans down.”
“And I did knock them down in one try,” Kaveh argued. “On my last try, they all fell down at once.”
“It has to be your first one, boy.”
“You didn't say that either!” You threw your hands up in frustration, voice reaching a shout.
“Fine.” Kaveh snatched the ugly looking bear, and shoved it at you. He dug around for his wallet, slapping the last of his money on the counter.
“You already won a bear, don't you want to let someone else have a turn?” The attendant protested. Sure enough, there was a small line of people waiting for their turn. Still, Kaveh shook his head.
“One more turn, and I leave.”
The man, perhaps hoping to make him leave quicker, or perhaps just interested in more of his money, handed him some more beanbags with a grumble. He turned around to set up the cans again, arranging them into another pyramid.
Kaveh watched him carefully, noting the way he paused before placing down each can, clearly feeling the weight of each. He noted the way the man was sure to place the slightly lighter can on the other corner, probably hoping that Kaveh would aim for the same one and fail to knock it over.
“Hit it as hard as you can,” You whispered to him, once he was done. “Picture it as something you hate, and hit it with everything you've got.”
Kaveh squinted at the cans. Something he hated...
Nothing immediately came to mind. Perhaps his roommate, who had a personality as enjoyable as a rainy, downcast day. Maybe that engineering professor who marked him down for a tiny spelling mistake. Or even the attendant glowering back at him as he waited for his throw.
Of course, he could always picture that project he was working on, the one that cost him far too many days and nights and still remained unfinished. As he stared at the rusty metal, all he could see was the crossed out sketches and scribbled notes, all a mess that he couldn't decipher. They taunted him; a monument to his failures and shortcomings, a reminder of the progress that he has yet to make—
Without thinking, he reeled back his arm and hurled the beanbag as hard as he could, slamming it into the can. The entire tower toppled over, cans falling from the table onto the floor.
“Yeah! That's my best friend!” You yelled, pumping your fist in the air.
Kaveh tried not to look smug, but a wide grin was already spreading across his face. “The peacock, please.”
The stuffed animal was reluctantly taken down and handed over to him, before he passed it to you.
“There. Consider it my thanks for the ticket,” Kaveh said proudly.
“Thank you,” You smiled down at the peacock, running your hand through the soft tail feathers. “I love it.”
-----
After a few more games with far less luck, the pair of you stopped by the food stalls to get something to eat. There was a wide variety, with some fried foods, some sweet snacks, even a stand selling freshly squeezed lemonade.
You settled on a stall selling pita pockets, and Kaveh had no objections. The smell alone was enough to convince him to line up.
“Oh! Hi [Name], hi Kaveh!” A familiar voice chirped. Collei was stood at the counter, smiling widely.
“Collei, I didn't expect to see you here!” Kaveh greeted her warmly.
“It's my after-school job!” She explained. “I'm trying to earn some extra money for my treatment. I can't be dependent on Tighnari for everything, you know!”
Kaveh's smile faltered for just a moment. Collei's declining health wasn't a secret; there was a reason that her brother had to take care of her so much, but she was still so selfless, even with all of her struggles.
“Ah, I should have asked!” Collei jumped suddenly, scrambling to grab her notepad. “What can I get you today?”
“Just two pita pockets please,” You ordered. “And a water, too.”
“Coming right up!”
After getting your food, the two of you sat down to eat in a shady spot by the fence. The pita pockets were warm and fresh, the perfect thing to quell Kaveh's hunger. When was the last time he had a cooked meal, or any food that wasn't straight out of a vending machine? The focus on his project had stolen away all his attention, leaving him to neglect his own appetite.
“What's next?” You asked through a mouthful of bread, your words slightly muffled.
Kaveh hummed, surveying the rest of the fair. You had walked through most of the surroundings, leaving only a small section unexplored. That portion happened to be the part with all of the rides, where the Ferris Wheel loomed over the food stalls.
“How about the Ferris Wheel?” Kaveh suggested.
Your eyes lit up again, and you jumped to your feet. “Yes! Let's go!”
-----
In hindsight, you should have expected the line, but neither of you even considered the possibility until you were stuck in the middle of it. It was cramped and uncomfortable; the overwhelming crowds were almost enough to deter you. Almost.
“This is taking forever.” You groaned, slumping against Kaveh.
“Have a little patience.” Kaveh sighed, even as his own patience was wearing thin.
Directly in front was an irritated boy with a bowlcut who Kaveh was certain was in one of his classes, accompanied by a young white-haired girl holding his sleeve. Ahead of them, there was a family of four, several couples, another group of friends, and many more waiting for their turn.
It was going to be a long time before they even saw the ticket booth, let alone made it on the Ferris Wheel.
“Oh my, [Name]! Is that you?” A sweet voice called out to you.
You turned to see Nilou, a cheerful girl and another student at your university, waving to catch your attention as she walked over.
“Oh, hi!” You greeted. “How are you?”
“I'm good! I came with Dehya instead, and it's been a wonderful day.” She smiled back, smoothing down the front of her dress.
“That's good. We're just—” You jerked your head to motion towards the line. “—Waiting, as you can tell.”
“Ah, I see. Well, I'm glad you ended up coming, even if you didn't come with me. Isn't it wonderful?” Nilou gushed.
You nodded, with a slightly strained smile. Kaveh noticed the change instantly, studying your expression with a frown. “Yeah, it is.”
“I'd better go, Dehya is waiting for me. Take care, [Name]!” Nilou gave you a brief side-hug, before waving goodbye and dashing off.
“I didn't know you were friends with Nilou.” Kaveh said as soon as she left.
“Yeah, she's a classmate.” You said simply, leaving it at that.
After some time, you managed to make it into the compartment and on the Ferris Wheel. Kaveh sat across from you, pulling his legs close so you had more room to get comfortable, and your peacock plushie rested on your lap. The entire box was filled with windows, giving you a full view of the fair as it rose into the air.
“Woah... you can see everything up here.” As the box began to dip back down, your head swiveled to see as much of the area as possible.
“It's amazing... everything looks so small.” Kaveh breathed, as you hummed in agreement.
The two of you lapsed into a comfortable silence, simply basking in each other's company as you observed the landscape below. There wasn't a need for awkward small talk or idle conversation to fill the space between you; you were happy to just exist with each other for a moment.
“There's one thing I don't get.” Kaveh said suddenly. You looked away from the window with a curious expression, silently waiting for him to elaborate. “You said you didn't have anyone to go here with, but Nilou implied she already asked you and you turned her down. Why is that?”
“Oh. Yeah. I lied.” You shrugged, turning back to watch the Ferris Wheel move upwards.
“Why would you lie?” Kaveh spluttered at your nonchalant response.
You made a noncommittal noise, shrugging again. “Nilou could find someone else to go with. I wanted to go with you.”
He stumbled over his words, trying to get out a coherent response. “But—But why?”
“Do I need a reason?” You laughed, bright and clear. “You're my best friend. And besides, you needed a break. I haven't seen you this relaxed in a week.”
Kaveh fell silent. You had a point, he hadn't felt as relaxed in a while. In fact, he had barely given all of his stresses a thought, since you dragged him to the fair.
You always had that way with him, able to pull him out of his own head and get him back on his feet. Ever since you became friends, you were the ray of sunshine peeking through the clouds and bringing light to even his most dull days.
Maybe that was the foundation of your relationship, all the times you had seen each other at rock bottom, and still stuck around to bring the other back to the surface for air. He'd been witness to many of your own late-night breakdowns over failed assignments and miserable group projects, but he would never dream of leaving you to deal with it on your own.
It was you and him, against the world. As close as two friends could be, and he wouldn't have it any other way.
“What would I do without you?” Kaveh sighed, with a smile on his face. You looked back and grinned at him, the sunlight on your face making it look like you were glowing.
“No idea. But you're stuck with me now.”

Oh, this scene in the novel is what made me love North more than I already do and as to why he's one of my favorite characters now!! Also, bas is doing such a great great job as North! And so seeing it here, I'm just screaming and crying, lol. As fah said, not everyone has one side to them. When we're stressed, we don't wanna talk or socialize in any capacity. And him being johans friend for a while, he can tell that's how jo is. But when he's with others, he doesn't act like that cause with North he doesn't have to feel like he needs to be what others already expect of him. And North, being the best person, ever says he doesn't think it's bad for jo to feel whatever it is he is. He should be able to express that emotion if he's stressed or whatever. And fah asking a good question!, he doesn't put the stress on you? Cause he is exhausted and stressed from the choas of his work life and balancing school, And North says no immediately cause johan doesn't ever make north feel like it's his problem he doesn't put his stress onto north! And fah seeing johan when he's with north be completely just at this ease is something he doesn't rarely see only when he's with him and so him asking north to stay and north willing to do just that 🥺
johan said, North truly made his life so special cause it was him. He's such an uncomplicated person, as he says himself. He accepts johan as he is, though he knows others have their preconceptions about him, and he doesn't care. He sees and hears enough about johan. He's very hardworking a workaholic truly. He takes care of him so well cause he wants to it's more than just a transactional thing it's cause johan had been found his person then and isn't gonna lose his 2nd chance😭

The Ithaca Saga 👑🏹
*Warning mentions of SA and this is 2 parts*
Ok, let’s do this one last time. OK, SO THIS ENTIRE SAGA HAD ME IN TEARS LIKE THOSE LAST TWO SONGS WERE DEVASTATING. BUT TO GO IN PROPER ORDER, SO ANNA ABSOLUTLY COOKED AS PENELOPE AND IS ANYONE REALLY SURPRISED? WE GET TO SEE PENELOPE SING THE CHALLENGE AND ITS JUST AHHHH. I love how she sounds so determined in the beginning but after the storm she starts to sound slightly more resigned like she isn’t accepting the suitors but might slightly believe that Odysseus might not come back and she doesn’t know how much longer she can fight. ALSO JORGE WHEN I CATCH YOU JORGE FOR CONTINUOUSLY BRINGING BACK THE WAITING MOTIF AND IT HURTING ME EVERY TIME. AND HAVING THE SUITORS IN THE BACKGROUND LIKE THEYRE OUTSIDE HER DOOR. And then it’s hold them down, Antinous they could never make me like you. On a serious note, he’s honestly the scariest character in the show, because he’s so realistic. All the other monsters and gods are exaggerated to the point where they don’t feel realistic but I feel like almost everyone has met a man similar to Antinous who believes he’s entitled to power and women. Aaron Alexander does a great job of portraying darkness in his voice that Antinous would carry. I love the slight growls and cries in his voice when he sings. I know it’s just music but when Antinous talks about assaulting Penelope it makes me sick to my stomach as someone who has been SA’d. You almost have to appreciate how disgusting Jorge makes you feel with those lyrics. It makes the audience appreciate his death so much more. Back on a lighter note, Odysseus is probably one of my FAVORITE like fighting songs, like he is done playing games and just goes INSANE. I love how Jorge compares the palace to what they did to Troy. AND THE VOICES IN THE BACKGROUND SAYING HIS NAME BECAUSE HES THE MONSTER NOW AND LIKE IN THE PROPHECY. ALSO THE “We know these halls the odds can be tilted” and the response of “You don’t think I know my own palace? I built it.” GOES SO HARD, ITS UP THERE WITH “Next to my wife”. I love how one of the suitors is like hey you killed our leader like lets us go?? You know open arms? Which is really dirty tactic considering Polities And Odysseus goes F*** THAT and slaughters him. AND THEN ITS ATHENA’S MOTIF WITH TELEMACHUS AND I SCREAMED BECAUSE I KNEW SHE WAS COMING BACK I KNEW IT. Mico and Jorge sound so similar it’s not even funny. Then we get the “Hands in the air” line and Odysseus just really doesn’t like party people, or his idea of fun is slaughtering a bunch of predators and that I can respect. And when the suitors grab Telemachus in the weapons room, I love how it’s sped up so you can hear them being frantic AND THE ELECTRIC GUITAR IS GOING CRAZY WHEN ODYSSEUS SAYS “Mercy?” LIKE HE GOING TO TEAR THEM LIMB FROM LIMB, and the lyrics “my mercy has drowned, it died to bring me home” LIKE IN THE VENGEANCE SAGA WITH ALL THE CREW IS CRAZY. On a darker note again, I appreciate how Jorge straight up says what the suitors were planning to do to Penelope was rape and doesn’t dance around the topic anymore with the lyrics. Then, we hear all of the screams of the suitors as they are violently slaughtered as they should be. Then, it’s the first of the final two songs that made me SOB 😭 Like Mico and Jorge did this scene SO WELL. (go to the 2nd part)

Can i ask what you think are some hobbies or just casual things the voices would enjoy?? if you don’t want to do all of them rn i would love to hear about skeptic’s (biased)
Ooooh, great question!!! Let me see:
For the purposes of it, I'm going to assume the "usual" scenario for my voices, which is typically some sort of post-Unknown Together ending world (so no Long Quiet). Some HCs are just entirely weird/vibes-based, so, uh, you've been warned!
Hero: Probably has the most random HCs of all my voices. For some reason, I tend to think of Hero as a writer and/or TTRPG enthusiast. He probably tried to DM a D&D campaign for his fellow voices. Regretted it after session 1 /hj
Stubborn: Not being super original here, Stubborn loves physical activity/fighting, but I also have a HC that Stubborn would enjoy occasional woodworking. He also self-appointed himself as Broken's personal coach, much to latter's annoyance.
Broken: My Broken has a mild case of chronic fatigue syndrome, and as a result, he prefers to stay indoors. I feel like he would enjoy origami and knitting/crocheting; he probably made himself a few scarves and sweaters.
Cold: He is an interesting one for me (he always is, such a conflicting character for me). I have a feeling on some days, he sees no point in "hobbies" and spends his time observing whatever other voices are doing with their lives instead. On others, he goes through about 18 different hobbies and odd jobs just to see if he finds anything that satisfies his curiosity. Whenever he does start a new hobby though, he is surprisingly good at it, a very fast learner... which is to his detriment because then he gets bored of it too quickly.
Paranoid: As the resident medic among the voices, Paranoid had to pick up gardening to grow some medicinal herbs. He initially hated it, but over time, he's actually grown to like it; it's quite theraputic. I think he would also enjoy realistic fiction or non-fiction reading.
Skeptic: I am convinced that Skeptic would be a linguistics nerd. Really into different languages and especially etymology. I think he would also enjoy journaling, specifically in shorthand (I stole that HC from a friend). No one else can ever read Skeptic's notes, and that's not even a joke-
That's all in addition to some occasional reading (especially mystery novels).
Smitten: Just like Paranoid is the resident medic, Smitten is the resident cook! And baker! And he is *very* good at what he does. He knows by heart everyone's favorite meals and desserts; he can make pretty much any dish if ingredients are available, and he can make a feast out of just potatoes (exaggerating, but not by much).
Yeah, the voices would all starve without Smitten /j
Opportunist: Oppy is a bit basic in terms of HCs and primarily enjoys some good card games. Even when he is not cheating, he is actually quite good at most of them, but of course, Opportunist knows very well how to sneak an ace or two if needed. I also he would he a sort-of-collector (another HC stolen from a friend), specifically collecting small shiny objects like coins and jewelry.
Hunted: When he knows it is safe to be outdoors, Hunted just loves to spend time in nature. If not for his skittish nature, he would've loved anything camping. But as is, he enjoys bird watching and maybe photography. Please don't ask why photography, I've warned you that some of these are weird.
Cheated: Gamer Cheated is an inevitable HC for me: card games, board games, video games, anything, Cheated loves it all. Unfortunately, he is Cheated, and he very, very often loses. It is typical for him to play a game, lose badly multiple times, get pissed off at it, and swear to never play that game again. But then he plays it again two days later. For a more random HC, I feel like he would like either model kits or soldering.
Contrarian: He is definitely an artist, maybe a sculptor, and is actually, surprisingly, a really good artist. But only when he wants to be. And he pretty much never does, so he uses all his skill on intentionally terrible shitposts. Once a year or two, he will feel inspired and actually make an absolutely breathtaking masterpiece, before immediately returning to shitposts.
That should be all! These are not entirely set in stone either, it's more of my first instincts + silly memes, but it was still a lot of fun to think about! Thanks for asking!!!
#you are welcome to ask me to elaborate or to ask me to share more of my random HCs!#slay the princess#ask#eg chatting

What If Season 3 - What If... Agatha Went to Hollywood? Thoughts
"Everyone has a story worth telling. Even two lost souls on the wrong path. But sometimes, all it takes is a trip to the movies to remind you that anything is possible, even a happy ending. Then again, who doesn't love a cliffhanger." Uatu
This episode goes so hard. I really love the dynamic between Agatha and Kinko. Howard and Jarvis are a comedic blast. It's such a fun episode playing around with three diva characters who would've been around by this point of the timeline. The episode is also a love letter to cinema and the history of 1940s Hollywood with little details sprinkled out. This is What If at its best.
I love how this AU results from Agatha learning of Tiamut's existence. I also can't believe and love how What If also connects to Agent Carter since Howard did try to become a movie director (with mixed results to say the least). I think they also brought back Bernard Stark when Jarvis was trying to shoo away a flamingo from the set.
The dance choreography goes so fucking hard. I love musicals, so to see a musical dance number in the MCU is pretty great. The Hollywood and Bollywood dancing and music styles meshed really well in this episode. It was a pretty smart idea to acknowledge Agatha's power absorption powers would make it relatively easy for her to take the Eternals' powers. The real goats are the dancing teams of Agatha and Kingo for improvising so well during their fight lmao. Howard mentioning the Hinderberg is pretty funny since Agatha All Along said Agatha was suspected of causing the Hinderberg's destruction.
Agatha is amazing. Kathryn Hahn really loves playing this character and you can tell it. Whoever had the idea of pairing her up with Howard, Jarvis, and Kingo deserves a raise. I really love how she really leans into the actress role so much that she loves it by the end. Her Celestial design is simply beautiful. Her costumes are also great. Agatha becoming a Celestial would've been so in-character for her if she knew about them like we saw in this universe. There's something funny and cathartic about Arishem the Judge calling Agatha, a witch who lived through the Salem period, a heretic, then Agatha proceeding to beat the shit out of Arishem, that was a great historical joke.
I really love Kingo in this episode as well. While the Eternals was flawed, it had a great cast and worldbuilding. I love how Kingo was able to reach out to Agatha by appealing to an empty void inside of them until they did film. I really love his speech to Agatha. Stories whether that be film, games, etc inspire other people like me and I really connected with what he meant. It just reminds you that Kingo has a lot of depth to his character. I will say Kingo turning on Arishem in exchange for a three-picture deal is pretty hilarious (and other requests including his friends being freed). All the Eternals had to do was offer him that lmao. Kumail Nanjiani did an amazing job playing this character.
Jarvis eventually accepts the insanity and chaotic nature of the cast, which is pretty funny to see. He's such a comedic riot in the episode alongside the rest.
This episode really is one of the best episodes. This really showcases What If using its premise to create stories we never thought we needed until now.
"At some point, somewhere in our lives, the world made us feel small, so we set out to show them. But, Agatha, you never needed all this power. Because you've always had the only magic you'd ever really needed to leave your mark on the world." Kingo
"Uh-huh, uh-huh. And what magic is that?" Agatha Harkness
"The movies. The movies are magic, Agatha. Hell, they're better than magic. Because they change the world by changing people. By making them feel something real. And with that kind of power, you don't have to be feared. Because you can be adored." Kingo
"You can't possibly understand how long I've worked for this." Agatha Harkness
"Well, I've been on Earth for thousands of years, so I kinda do. And if you're anything like me, maybe all this time, you've just been looking for the right collaborator. So, what do you say? Wanna change the world? For real?" Kingo

I feel like I've been saying this for every episode but Sinsmas was so good!! 😭😭
It might be because it's more recent but I think this is one of my personal favorites of season two. Although this episode was jam-packed, I feel like it was better paced than last month's ep. It has good set ups for season three but also good conclusions for this season's build up.
The music was really good. From Octavia's song to the montage, and background radio. Oh– and I LOVE what they're doing with Octavia as a character. I'm thrilled that she's given more complexity. I'm eager to see where her and Stolas relationship will go. Definitely part of the Via defense squad now bcuz I know people are gonna be upset with her but I will always love female characters who deal with their painful and confusing emotions in unfavorable ways because they are products of their environments. It's one of my favorite things.
Voice acting was great (always is) but Stolas is by far the best this episode. Those sobs were *chef's kiss* I truly felt his pain. Almost cried lol.
Stolitz saved me. I'm so thankful they ended the season a good note in regards to them. Really needed that after the year I had. They're so cute and I'm becoming really obsessed with them. Oh and that dance– THAT DANCE!!! <3<3
Lastly, this Millie plotline has a LOT of potential. Like, what does this mean for M&M's relationship? Will we delve more into Millie and her fears? If she decides to keep it what will this mean for her job? What if she doesn't keep it? Will she tell her partner? Is imp pregnancy different from humans and how? Will this plotline eventually lead to the return of old villains, such as Crimson? YOU SEE WHAT I MEAN?? There's so much the writers could do.
Anyways, BEAUTIFUL ANIMATION. Everyone who worked on this episode did a fantastic job. Really good season finale and I want to give all these fantastic people a big kiss on the forehead. Like, genuinely the animation, sound design, fx, everything is so well made.
#also HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!#helluva boss#helluva boss sinsmas#sinsmas#helluva boss spoilers#hellvrs.speaks#i didn't proofread this#so excuse any misspellings :P

*Flowey waits for the applause to die down before he takes the mic and continues from where Chara left off.* We've been forced underground and isolated for centuries, but the moment we finally get out to the surface which we thought would mean freedom, these brats belittle us and smack us around. They act as though they’re clueless to why we were forced to take those souls.
Once on the surface, we tried to be nice as we always have been. We tried to quietly settle onto the surface and let them beat us half to death because we were too scared to fight back. We’re about to dust like a wimpy Asriel- all of us- if we don’t demonstrate our real strength. They won’t listen to us normally, so we’ll just have to force some respect into their heads first.
The humans won the last war, but we've grown stronger since then. Are you going to let our king die and ourselves be pushed back? Of course not! Everything we have is on the line, so be smart, use all your power, and don’t stop until they are forced to drop on their knees and listen!
(Kara) "*There's even more applause with the occasional PREECH here and there* Thank you, Flowey! *Brings him to the side* That was fantastic! I'm going to have to up my game when I'm going to try to make my speech! Also, bad news, Sans and Multivesal Anon are dead. They tried to find the souls for some reason and I'm guessing both got shot. *Sighs* We have to keep moving though. Like you said, 'we've grown stronger'"
(Noelle) "We have. I do sometimes wonder, will it be enough?"
(Kara) "Even if it's not, we can say we went out trying. And maybe it could spark some revolutions in the future. The day we charge in will be the most important day for this universe."
(Noelle) "Flowey, Kara, and I were talking a bit before about relaxing after we're done with this. Well if, but they believe that we still have so many worlds to save."
(Kara) "This is not the time!"
(Noelle) "I know, but I just wanted him to know our argument. What would you want to do if we survived this?"
#undertale#the white soul#kara#flowey#ask flowey#noelle holiday#Great speech#to the point#It did feel like a speech that your Flowey would say#that's what I like about your Flowey#He's consistent to himself#Maybe not Flowey but this is an AU afterall#You do a great job with the character you made

heeey they graphically updated the ARR world leaders with custom models (well. Nanamo has one too but she seems the same to my eyes and she seems like a normal lala when not wearing her full costume?)...
Aside from Raubahn and Merlwyb somehow being even hotter I have to shout out Kan-E's unicorn necklace's radical improvement :D
(unicorn way up so you also never unsee it)
Aymeric, Lyse and Hien remained low poly at the Alliance meeting, as did poor HW-style Thancred, who just dramatically collapsed in order to travel the rift into graphical fidelity...
Also very funny that earlier Asahai showed up with the old graphics, but Maxima was already boasting full new skin textures despite having of course a way more custom model than the completely character creator ready Hyur next to him... This is the exact right time in the game's history to be in late Stormblood to enjoy the roll out.
#accidentally made the hrothgal on a preferred server so I'm desperately trying to make the most of road to 90#back when I was young it was road to 70 and you could cap out every job in HW and not worry about it#now I'm 86 and 84 on 2 jobs 73 on all hand/land and feeling scared I'll run out of buff before I hit shadowbringers...#ffxiv#I also have a staggering lack of character stuff to SAY about Anatalya even though I think she's great#not much Bozjan character building that leaps out aside from Huge Cid Feelings at every turn#ANYWAY back to clicking through cutscenes so I can get another 10 levels of hand/land before hitting another wall#unless you actually use the MB to buy mats (which I am not desperate enough to do) you can't do any hand ins at level :<#and if I wanted to do more than GC ones I'd have to buy crafting gear as well since scrip is expansion locked#so no collectables because I'd have to buy well over even levelling gil amounts of gear and mats#aurghhhh#I only wanted crafter/gatherer to save money on repairs and melding on an alt on a server I didn't have Frog's fc to nepo baby her on#and thought road to 90 would make it easy :P

i dont do a lot of book recs on here (i think ive done one before?) but the Henry Rios books by Michael Nava are so criminally underrated!
They're these mystery novels from the 1980s-1990s about a gay, Latino lawyer (Henry Rios, our protagonist/narrator) solving mysteries--usually while trying to prove his client's innocence. He's a long-suffering idealist written as this kind of hard-boiled detective.
This is actually something the whole series tackles, subverts, and deconstructs in a really interesting way! Instead of being this stoic detective, the archetype gets broken down in a lot of really fascinating and human ways earnestly discussing love, grief, intergenerational trauma, racism, homophobia, illness/disability, toxic masculinity, and substance abuse.
What I love is that these books realize that the hard-boiled detective is stuck in a point of hurt and trauma, and so the Henry Rios series makes a big deal out of fighting tooth and nail to GET BETTER--whatever it takes to improve yourself and your surroundings. While the books maintain a lot of the dark and morose vibe of the original genre (especially given the looming, perpetual grief of AIDS-era queer lit), they always come back to a death match against apathy. It's really moving stuff, especially as the books take this approach to Henry's recovery from alcoholism.
if you're interested in queer history, the books are in touch with queer legal/political history during the HIV/AIDS crisis. The first few books have been rewritten/published as well since Michael Nava's retirement, so I think a comparative reading could be really interesting. For the record, Nava was a civil rights lawyer, so this is all done REALLY well (not to mention the legal drama is engaging, theatrical, petty, gutting, and sometimes hilarious).
if you're interested in detective fiction, they're brilliant deconstructions of the genre. instead of taking the depressed alcoholic white guy with repressed desire for male companionship at face value, the series considers a gay Latino man struggling with machismo, racism and homophobia, intersectional identity, and processing/recovering from grief, childhood trauma, alcoholism, and Catholicism.
Stylistically, the books are smart, poetic, introspective, dark, and witty. There's a lot of suffering, but there are also a lot of intense moments of joy and catharsis that feel really earned.
Also, if you read the rewrites. uh. there's a lot of smut! Happy retirement, Mr. Nava!
#henry rios#michael nava#these books are so earnestly philosophical about morality and law that i feel a bit bad lumping them in with other serials#but regardless as a guy who did actual academic research on the dave brandstetter books read these instead#the conversation with addiction is so heartfelt and meaningful#on a more personal note henry is sort of everything to me#his type is inaccessible white twinks he feels the need to fix. and then he has a whole character arc where he GETS OVER THAT#hes a billie holiday fan. hes a baseball guy. hes great with kids. hes butch. hes a switch if you ask nicely. hes still a little catholic#hes memorized so much poetry. hes theatrical and petty as hell in the courtroom. i feel terrible for him. i need him biblically.#also#shout out thom rivera for doing a really nice job with the audiobooks! they kind of made the whole thing for me#book recs#seamus rambles#god if i end up doing my masters thesis on these i think someone should just take me out. i need to stop being on brand

I mean… wlw content get overshadowed by mlm ships everyday so it is insensitive a little
Not to sound too mean but what do you expect me to do? I get that sapphic ships get overshadowed and underrated all the time in comparison to achillean ones. Believe me. I am a lesbian who is constantly pushing their sapphic ships everywhere.
But you can't expect people to suddenly stop posting about the achillean ships they enjoy just because they're more popular than YOUR favorite ships. Is it bothersome that achillean ships get more attention for the sole reason of being a male pairing while sapphic ships get ignored or not even suggested? Yeah!!!! It's frustrating.
But if you want some change in the amount of content you see then it's YOUR fight only and others should be allowed to post whatever they like. If you want to post only sapphic ships or you're bothered by them being talked in the same light as achillean ones, then it's YOUR choice to make.
Fandom is NOT activism!!! Fandom is meant to be enjoyed in whatever way you want. Fandom is to interpret media in your own way. So, honestly, if I want to make a simple post comparing two ships I like, why should I be trying to defend myself here for that? If people don't like it, then they can just block me, scroll, move on, etc.
To think a post about comparing fictional ships is insensitive is insane to me, tbh.
#bro i just made a post comparing a sapphic and an achillean ship please relax lmao#& don't act like this isn't specifically about shuggy hate bc i'm sure if it had been any other mlm ship i wouldn't have been getting hate#can i just PLEASE run my account however i like#also touch some grass these are fictional characters and making a wlw ship more popular won't do any changes in real life#and even if it did bc after all fandom IS a social enviornment and normalizing sapphic relationships is great always:#you can't just tell people they're being insensitive when it's just a simple post#i understand your point i really do#you think that comparing a sapphic ship to an achillean ship is bad bc it makes it focus on MEN only#and we already live in a men's world to have to deal with more men ig#but !!!!!!!!! something really fun about fandom is that it's FICTION and it does not affect reality in any way#and yes it is bothersome in a social level that male characters are more popular and we can study that and be bothered by it#but to claim it's insesitive or bad or harmful is just plainly stupid#once again fandom is not activism and i don't owe anyone to change my posts to highlight other ships more when my acc MINE#tldr i hate these discourses bc it makes ME be rude when i hate that#in fact i wouldn't be this mean rn if it wasn't bc i'm getting A LOT of asks abt this bc of a simple post lmao#you know i have a job to care about it's insane to me that you have enough free time to go to other people's acc to complain

listen like... in my opinion the pov character should be wrong or contradictory or unreliable sometimes. this is third person limited they're not supposed to have all the information or always be right. the narrator doesn't stop being a character
#if i am doing a good job as an author then the reader can TELL when this is happening#i just think it's so boring to write from one character's perspective if that means flattening out everything that makes them a character#if he tells the audience he's outgrown something but the entire story is about how you're never as far from the past as you think#then the implication is that this is NOT outgrown. anyway you've gotta trust your readers a bit.#got a GREAT comment on a fic where someone noticed this and it made me smile all day. like YES you saw what i was hoping for you to see

Ray's After Ending is so funny because for a good chunk of it, most of the RFA members are knocked out by V's sleeping gas (Saeran is immune, Saeyoung isn't present bc he was kidnapped by his agency under his father's orders and MC wakes up in like an hour) but the game has a call feature where you can call the characters and it would be a waste if you couldn't use it bc the characters were unavailable so instead they have other people pick up the call (Jumin's driver picks up Jumin's phone, Jumin's father picks up Zen's phone, Yoosung's friends and mom pick up Yoosung's phone and Jaehee's coworkers pick up Jaehee's phone) and we do get to learn about the characters from outsider's point of view but it's so funny to me that these people are visiting their loved ones and suddenly the phone rings and they decide to just. answer it. and start talking to this stranger they've never met
#prince's talk tag#maybe its not actually weird people just pick up their loved one's phone call for them but i personally wouldn't#i cant stop thinking about how its Jumin's father that uses Zen's phone like Chief Han what were you doing in Zen's room??#i know they needed to assign somw character to Zen and he's not on speaking terms with his family#but I would of thought Chief Han would go to Jumin and the driver could go to Zen#does this mean something? am i thinking too hard about this?#also rip yoosung his friends and mom lowkey kinda dragging him in their call with you#and with the friends since one of them is a girl one of the options is like 'A girl?!?! are you dating??' and shes like 'no lolol'#'he's nice but i dont see him like that'#the main thing that made me make this post was thinking about Yoosung's mom saying how Jumin calls her sometimes and sends her holiday gift#like!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! idk man that just plays on a loop in my head#i know thats like a very professional thing to do. Jumin was raised to please people in a business capacity#and the he cares about the RFA so yea it makes sense. im sure he has gifts sent out to companies his works with#and I'm sure if the other members had a good relationship with their parents hed do the same with them#but in the RFA Yoosung and I guess V are the only ones with parents they talk to#idk if he sends a gift to V's father tho bc we never talk to him#but man. while i know hed do it with the other members if he could just the fact he does it with Yoosung is sweet#and it makes the part in Seven's route where he calls Yoosung's mom about her son's dilemma make sense to me bc they do talk once in a whil#so its not too out of the blue when he does it i guess#but man can we talk about how awesome Jaehee is? bc her coworker that picks up her phone spends every call gushing about her#like we knew she's great at her job but man hearing her coworker talk about her fills me with such love and admiration#and she's apparently really loved by the other assistants too like they all gush about her#jaehee is the best character in the game im not joking around#they wanna get close to her but bc she's their boss it's hard T_T#and the one that picks up the phone wishes Jaehee knows she was the one that stood with her overnight when she wakes#Yuni (the assistant you're talking to) says she would of quit the job had it not been for her#LIKE!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAA!!!!#it was a nice way to use the call feature during the first two days of the characters not being awake to answer#and even though this is supposed to be the last thing you play before completing the whole game#you still learn something new about the characters you've known since day 1

i am Blind to basically anything I'm not familiar with, so i still don't know anythin about In Stars and Time. Could you give some info on it??? i am looking for games to play rn....
hmmm okay.. I will say, going in blind is best! I went in knowing literally only 3 things. 1) that it was about a timeloop, 2) that it was entirely monochrome, and 3) that this one character I had seen once was in it (Mirabelle, didn't know her name, just that she existed). And going in with such little knowledge was great, I'd highly recommend
But if you want more, then here's a bit more.. (mostly a synopsis of stuff you'll figure out early on, no major spoilers)
Obviously its a story about a timeloop! In the game, your party is a group trying to save the world from someone simply known as "the King" who is freezing the entire country in time. Interestingly, the game takes place at the end of your journey. The entire party has been assembled and have known each other, you've journeyed across the country, collected items that'll allow you to enter where the King awaits. All thats left to do is go through where he's holed up and defeat him. Also interestingly, you don't play as the protagonist of this story I've just mentioned. A girl named Mirabelle is the chosen one, blessed by her god, she is unable to be frozen in time, and has taken it upon herself to save her country. Yet, you aren't playing as her. You're playing as someone named Siffrin, just one of her party members, and one that says that they're only here because "they have nothing better to do." This should be Mirabelle's story, but you quickly realize why it isn't. Not long into the game, Siffrin's life unexpectedly comes to an end, and the fact that there's a timeloop afoot becomes apparent. Nobody but you and one strange mystery person (named "Loop" of all things) are aware of the loops. In the game you'll do all that you can to make it to the King and defeat him and keep your friends safe, no matter how many deaths, no matter how much time. But thing's aren't that simple you'll find!
Also this game is about a timeloop, so as you may guess, there's a lot of death involved so warnings for lots of death (including suicide), and also warnings for Really Bad Mental Health Stuff, as you may also guess, being trapped in a timeloop isn't good for your mental health. Check the warnings for the game if you think you may need to!
#josh talks#didn't wanna give too much away so i really did just give a summary of stuff you learn at the very beginning of the game#just thru my perspective i suppose#like how i tend to refer to Mirabelle as the actual like protagonist of the story of In Stars And Time without the timeloop stuff#but the character you actually play as is Siffrin#idk if protagonist is the right word maybe main character would be more accurate#but u get what i mean#the very beginning of the game was so interesting going in blind which is also why i recommend it!#i was not expecting to be at the end of the journey?? or that there's a chosen one but its not us??#it made me soo curious about Mirabelle and just the situation in general#also stuff i like about the game without spoilers:#the worldbuilding is insane!!!! its so well done and thought out and things are so interconnected#the characters and character interactions are great i really fell in love with the characters#the game does a great job of making you feel like Siffrin does. The narration helps with knowing their thoughts but#it is also done in a lot of other ways. like just the fact that you have to play through the same things over and over#really make you feel for Siffrin and feel similar hopes and disappointments as him#also it has really good lgbt rep! our main character goes by he/they and there's 2 people who go by they/them#and for 2 of those 3 this is established in actual dialogue not just in character profiles!#you and one of the others actually introduce yourself with what pronouns to use#and one character is implied to be in game and is confirmed by the creator to be trans!#and one character is aroace!!! :DDD (and Sif is also ace)#and the best part about the lgbt rep is its varied relevance#like for some characters? its just kinda there. like yeah that character goes by they/them. they just do. thats it.#but for others? its a bit more relevant!#For the trans character its not like immediately super relevant but learning about it gives context and background to them#and for some it is actually actively relevant like with the aroace character! During the game they are actively dealing with issues#that their identity is causing them (maybe poor wording... more like issues society is causing due to the identity)#and that varied relevance is great because its so accurate to life. Some people will have more issues with their identity#while others its just a casual thing!#for some people its not a big deal for them to just go oh hey im gonna go by different pronouns
