Best friends little sister Pt. 3
Tumblr media
Pablo got the picture in his inbox the same morning. His heart jumped as he read Vinicius' instructions while I was peacefully sleeping on his arm. I told Pedri I will sleep over at Masa's and stayed with Pablo after the game to properly celebrate the win.
The picture
Tumblr media
"Fuck!" he said and I slowly woken up brushing the sleep from my eyes smiling at Pablo's face above mine. I moved in starting to kiss his neck but when he pulled away I looked at him in confusion.
"You have to go! Um..I have a physical today" he says and I was completely lost since last night he promised me the whole day in bed? Did he really forget about the physical???
"But it's Sunday Pablito???" you remind him but he said they scheduled him earlier and he needs to be ready quickly. With barely a peck did he leave the bed as I got ready and left back home..not knowing that will be the last kiss in awhile I will share with Pablo.
Pablo knew that if he as far as looked at you, the picture will leak and ruin everything..any chance of being with me in peace...his friendship with Pedri..and my relationship with your brother. He needed to push me away no matter how badly he craved being by my side..it was for the better for all!
For the next five days I tried reaching out to Pablo without success. If I texted him, he didn't reply. If I called it went straight to voice mail. Today I decided to go to training and catch him before he left the dressing room..I was desperate and worried why he was suddenly so cold towards me???
"Um Gavi..can I ask you something???" I saw him leaving with Frankie in shock to see me standing by the dressing room in my school uniform. He followed after me looking back worried that Pedri might see something. We went into the conference room and he put down the blinds.
"What are you doing here!? And during school hours!? Are you crazy!?" he said but I didn't even listen to a single word rushing and kissing him feverishly..it's what I needed for all these days!
Although kissing me back, he was quick to pull away and walk backwards away from me..I needed to know what was going on with him???
"God you're so needy!!! Can't you understand I'm done with you!!!???" Pablo yelled but it didn't matter what he said, I refused to believe that is the truth..it couldn't be because it was so sudden and with no explanation!!!
"P..Pablo..what happened? what did I do??" you say tears filling into your eyes as you tried getting closer but he once again stepped back..like he was running away from you.
"You're a kid and I satisfied my craving, vale! Now just leave me alone" he said and your heart shattered..you left home in tears and haven't stopped crying for the next two weeks.
Meanwhile Pablo never played worse in his life..missing the passes..not scoring since the last El Classico and arguing with everyone all the time. He felt defeated and angry first at himself for not telling Pedri on time which would make it imposible for Vini to threaten him like this. He messed it all up!
"Y/n is really going through something..wanna throw her a beach party tonight??" Pedri said and at the mention of my name Pablo looked up suddenly being interested. It was his fault you were "going through something" so the lest he can do is help. They invited everyone.
At home, you were working on an english project.,
"And they wanted to run away together because of forbidden love.." Jacobo talked but I was somewhere else wondering how could I be so stupid to believe only my heart..my head always told me it was wrong and I should have listened!!!
"Please like they really love each other!" you snarl at the boy who held a book and looked at you with raised eyebrows. Great! Now he thinks I'm some anti love lunatic! Well done!!!
"Sorry..I just think they don't even know each other that well to be able to love each other" I tried to explain but Jacobo was already in my face with his lips on mine kissing me deeply. What the fuck!??? I pulled away wiping my lips.
"What are you doing???" I say and he apologized starting to pack his books. I then sighed telling him it was alright to talk about it like adults.
"I'm so sorry..I just like you and being so close lately.." he said but I never thought about it like that. Yeah, we spend time together at school and were partners for this English project but it was nowhere near kissing one another.
"I'm just.." I start but then didn't even know what to answer next..I'm nothing..Pablo used me..that was all!!!
"with someone else?" Jacob asked
"yes..NO!..um I'm just not up for it" I say mumbling and he smiled nodding his head and taking mine. He kissed it gently before getting up and ready to leave.
"I understand..but I'll fight for you..that you should know" he said and I blushed while walking him to the front door. Pedri watched me from the kitchen smiling excited to see your reaction tonight at the party.
It felt good knowing someone else wants to fight for me..so why the hell were tears spilling down my cheeks again!? Will I forever belong to Pablo Gavi!!!???
"Hermanita!!!" Pedri called a few hours later and I groaned walking down just to have him put a blindfold onto my eyes.
"You know if you weren't my brother, this would constitute as kidnapping, right Pepi???" I say giggling and he told me to stay quiet while driving me to the beach. Drive wasn't long but i was very impatient so I kept bothering him.
"Alright, alright we're here! Stop whining finally!" he said walking me and I could smell the ocean already and my feet felt the warm sand..I smiled.
"Are we at the beach???" I ask and he slowly took off the blindfold as everyone yelled "SURPRISE!" and I jumped holding my hands on my mouth. I couldn't believe he did all this for me..I really had a special brother!!!
Everyone was there around the large bonfire..Rapha brought smores and Balde played music on his speaker...Frankie turned on the grill..Ansu, Araujo and others played ball in the sand..and everyone was happy. Well, almost everyone was here..Pablo was nowhere to be found..I was happy about that but then light shined from the parking before he emerged from the shadow and my blood froze.
Our eyes met and I couldn't handle it..tears returned to my eyes and I just had to run away and get some air..it was a first ever panic attack I've experienced and the whole world felt like closing in on me.
I was sitting on the rock shaking until two arms held me and I looked into my brother's concerned eyes. He put his jacket over me holding me there in silence as I cried..why did he have to hurt me!? why me!? i never wanted anything but to love and be loved..and now i feel like a used up toy..
"Hey, whatever it is hermanita..you can tell your Pepi, bueno? I know it's kind of like I'm your parent here but I'm also just your brother..i never snitched on your to mom and dad, vale?" he spoke and I wanted to spill it all..the whole truth..and beg him to forgive me..to not hurt Pablo..but I didn't have the heart to hurt him..and even though I hate to admit, I didn't want to hurt Pablo either.
"I like someone..but I rejected him today" you lie feeling sick to your stomach that after everything he'd done, you were still lying to Pedri's face.
"You were scared?" he asked and I nodded..what else were I meant to do? one lie after another..it felt eternal at that point.
"Just call him..he's a fool if he doesn't want you" he said and I smile nodding and taking the phone he gave me..Pablo Gavi..you're one big fool!!!! I dialed Jacobo's number..
Pedri returned and Gavi after chugging onto another beer out of desperation asked about me..he wanted to follow after me..to hold me against himself and tell me he lied..that he loves me..so much it drives him crazy..but he knew he couldn't..not with Pedri already leaving.
"It's about the boy like always with girls.." he said and Pablo clenched his jaw..he was ready for his best friend to punch him into oblivion after I told him about everything but punch never came.
"She left with Jacobo, let's drink" when those words left Pedri's lips Gavi's whole body contracted and he watched you hop onto another boys motorcycle and drive off..he clenched his grip on the bottle and it broke leaving his hand bloody.
That night after Jacobo brought me home after nice dinner and kissed me tonight, I regretted it all..lying to Pedri again..getting into a relationship I don't want..and ever giving Pablo Gavi a chance. I fell asleep with tears once again.
A stumbling sound didn't wake me up but cold kisses on my shoulder and neck did and I really was about to scream but a hand was covering my mouth. I turned around and saw Pablo there clearly too wasted to know what he was doing.
"What are you doing here!!? Please leave!??" I tried getting up but he was too strong and had me pinned down on the bed with heavy breathing.
"Please..just one more time..we won't do anything..I just want to hold you one more time.." he was slurring his words and my heart was racing..he was clearly still feeling the same thing I did. But i had a boyfriend now..it was even more wrong then before!!
"i have.." but he didn't let me finish that sentence..he couldn't bare it in that moment and I knew it as his eyes were filling with tears.
"please cielo.." he whispered and I sighed feeling a lump in my throat from that nickname pulling his arm and making him cuddle me tightly as we both fell asleep..suddenly nothing else felt wrong.
Pablo woke up first..he had a horrendous headache but smiled looking down at me in his arms sleeping peacefully. I looked like an angel with my hair scattered down his arm holding onto him while his hand rested on my butt. It was perfect..and if he could hide from Pedri then he could hide from Vini as well!
Just as he was about to kiss me good morning did my phone ring and I jumped looking at my new boyfriend's name shining on the screen. I heard Pablo groaning and throwing his head back in annoyance.
"You should go and..Pablo don't ever do this again!"I said about to answer but he took my phone hanging up instead.
"You let me stay because you wanted it too! I know you're still mine pequeñita.." he said about to pull me close but I was done with his games. He hurt my feelings and made me feel like his toy only to act like it didn't happen..well that won't happen!!!
"I let you stay because you were wasted and wouldn't let go off my waist! I'm done crying over you so just get out!" I were as cold as he was seeing something in his eyes sparkle and it had a red ting..he was angry. The doorbell rang and we both went downstairs.
It couldn't be Pedri since he was at training that Pablo clearly decided to ditch..so it could only be Jacobo..shit!
"Hey beba I brought you coffee..oh hi Pablo, I'm a huge fan" he said and there went Pablo's confidence as he smirked looking at your annoyed face. Pablo took the coffee from the boys hands and you stood there in disbelief..what an asshole!
"She hates coffee in the morning cause it makes her stomach upset..see you around pequeñita" he smirks winking and you fought an urge to throw a rock at his big head right now! Although he was right..Pablo did know you so much better than Jacobo..
We went to school and there was Masa waiting for an explanation..Jacobo kissed me and left and I told her everything she missed since being away.

I know you said that Luke gets the lion's share of attention, but I'd love to see him maybe getting dangerously drunk at a party with the football team and either Vince or Leo calling Jonah in a panic because they don't know whether he needs to go to hospital...
(bonus points if he drunk dials Bella before he's utterly paralytic 👀)
I LOVED this prompt, it kinda caused the entire break up plot to spiral badly. Now we're here, angst fest. This is a part 1.
-------
Vince was not in the mood to play tonight. Not him and certainly not Leo. They had just recovered from their own turn with the flu and to make matters worse Lucas' had been acting completely off since the aforementioned Break Up.
No one dared to say anything about it, but they were all thinking it.
They were playing at home tonight, which was a relief, because it was a freezing night and Vince did not want to add an incredibly inconvenient bus drive on top of the general down mood.
"Hey cap," Vince thumped Lucas' back as he finished strapping his helmet, "everything good?"
"Yes," Lucas answered roughly, pushing the helmet down on his head. Over his shoulder, Leo flinched and Vince smiled at him in sympathy. He waited until his friend marched ahead before approaching the blonde.
"What do you think?" Vince whispered and Leo shrugged, looking every bit as annoyed as Vince felt.
"I think we're going to lose."
"Yeah, me too."
They didn't lose. Nearly did, but not quite. 33 vs 29. Such a game would normally have all of them in a frenzy in the locker room, euphoric even, but not this time around.
Instead, Lucas was the first out of the field, and the first out of the showers, sitting down on the bench to put on his shoes, while the rest of them were still busy arguing with each other and getting rid of the uniform.
Vince didn't expect Lucas to still be around by the time he walked out of the showers. With how incredibly childish and pissy Luke was acting, he expect the man to have left already.
Instead he was still sitting on the bench, humid towel hanging around his neck and still shirtless, the water dripping from his hair. No matter that it had just started to snow and everyone was rushing to get dressed as fast as possible.
"Okay," Vince moved closer, tugging his shirt down, "what's the matter?"
"Uh?" Lucas raised his eyes, seemingly lost and Vince frowned at him, bumping his knee against his friend's.
"What's the matter?"
"Hey Luke," Aidan interrupted Vince's rant, a huge smile on, "we're heading out, you're joining?"
"Yeah," Lucas opened a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes, but finally seemed to be startled into moving. He put on the shirt, while Vince raised both eyebrows.
"Where are you going?"
"Celebrate, duh" Mickey slapped his arm, "you wanna join? You can bring Tinkerbell."
"Don't call her that," Vince immediately shut him down, while Leo scooted closer.
"We're going out?" he asked and then very quickly it got out of control and both Leo and Vince were pulled into the partying, even though neither of them were feeling it.
Vince felt completely out of character, being the only sober one sitting on the corner.
"Mikey burped on my face and I nearly threw up," Leo said, slumping down next to him. Maybe not the only sober one, Vince thought, letting out a surprised chuckle.
"We'll just stay an hour and then get the fuck out," he said, leaning back and tugging on his jeans. He had gone down an entire size thanks to the flu, it was annoying as hell to keep pulling on his pants.
Leo grinned, "we could have a beer. Granted I'll probably throw it up, but I don't wanna sulk here in the corner."
Vince rolled his eyes, incredulous, "fuck no. I've been on a liquids only diet all week, I'm not risking it. You go ahead, though."
The blonde shrugged, picking at his nail as they watched their friends have fun. Or something like that, in Luke's case. Whatever he was having didn't seem to be "fun".
"Just one," Leo smiled mischievously and then got up to join them. Vince grinned back at him, thinking the guy was insane for trying his luck like that.
One hour very quickly turned into one and a half when Leo hopped back to the table and dragged him to join the rest of them, exclaiming loudly that just because Vince was going fully sober tonight, it didn't mean he had to pout-
Lucas draped an arm around his shoulders, head nodding along to Leo's giggly speech, "he's right. Sit with us-" then he downed another shot.
"You've got to let loose," Luke said, a dumb smile on, eyes completely dazed, "you've been so pressed this week, calm down."
"I've been sick this week, not pressed," Vince rolled his eyes, shoving Luke away from him in a playful manner.
It was a really cold night and getting colder, even inside the dimly lit pub. They were all packed together for warmth, as Leo explained, downing a shot of tequila that he regretted exactly twenty minutes later, as he lowered his head to Vince's shoulder.
"Nothing is sitting right."
"I'm shocked," Vince chuckled, thumping his back, "just puke it up, you'll feel better."
"Ew, no," Leo shook his head, yawning, "I want to go home, I think I had enough fun."
Same, Vince thought. He had been nursing the same sprite since they arrived and although his mood was a little lighter, he was dead on his feet and wanted to go to sleep.
"Yeah, let's go- Where's Luke?"
"He was doing shots in the back with Spence and Alex...?" his voice trailed off at the end, turned into a question and Vince frowned, looking away from the shitty television behind the bartender, that was displaying a football game, and towards the blonde.
"Leo?"
"Spence?" Leo straightened up, sobering up, "dude- Hey, what's going on?!"
Only then did Vince realize that Spencer was clutching his nose, blood gushing between his fingers, while Alex was holding up a bunch of napkins.
"Lucas'z a duckin'dunt" Spencer groaned, wincing in pain. Vince frowned, looking at Alex for explanations.
"What happened? Where is he?"
"Drunk dialing his girlfriend," Alex scoffed, rolling his eyes, "and crying. We tried to stop him, but he shoved Spencer when he tried to get the phone."
Oh that explained it. Leo exchanged a concerned look with Vince.
"Where is he?"
"Bathroom," Alex rolled his eyes, "you guys think it's broken?"
"No," Leo shook his head, "he'd be in a lot more pain if it was broken."
"Maybe it's time we all call it a night," Vince said, but he didn't really stick around to hear the responses, as he was already walking to the bathroom.
Whatever he expected to find, it certainly wasn't Lucas curled up on a very disgusting bathroom floor.
"Lucas...?" he ran inside, all but skipping to his knees, "Luke, what are you doing on the ground? Lucas, hey!" he shook his friend's shoulder and Lucas let out a groan.
He had vomit on his shirt and blood on his knuckles, all in all a picture of misery. He also didn't seem able to support his head at all, like a baby, "...eave'me-alone," he slurred and Vince's heart picked up.
"Hell no," he cupped Lucas' neck, feeling his rapid heart beat, skin clammy, "Luke, are you just wasted or-"
His shoulders hitched again and more pale yellow puke covered his lap. Lucas seemed too out of it to even feel bad or humiliated by it, all he did was let out another pitiful whine.
"LEO!" Vince shouted, not looking away from his best friend, "LEO!"
"Vin? I'm just calling Spen- What the fuck?!" Leo cut himself immediately as he took in the state Lucas was in. He walked inside the bathroom, crouching down, "Lucas? Luke, hey - Is he conscious?"
"Barely," Vince patted his best friend cheek, "get Jon on the phone!" he bossed, already fishing for his own phone. He struggled to find Wendy's contact, panic making his mind cloudy.
Between them, Lucas let out another groan and dipped dangerously to the side, causing Vince to lurch forward to grab him, patting his cheek again, "Luke, wake up. Stay with me, alright? Open your eyes."
As if actually obeying, Lucas blinked blearily, the fact his eyes were bloodshot making the green stand out scarily.
"Jon!?" Leo squealed to his left, "Jonah, we're at a bar and- And Luke is completely passed out and we don't know what to do-"
"Leo?" Jonah sounded asleep. Vince vaguely tried to think of what hour was it. 1 AM? "Leo, what's going on-"
"Jon," Vince interrupted, as Leo put the call on speaker, "we're in some pub and Luke is wasted. Like actually properly wasted, I- We have no idea what to do."
There was a pause as Jonah collected himself, "is he conscious?"
"Not really, just a little but not responding."
"Okay, if he's awake keep him sitting up, otherwise put him on his side to not choke on his sick," Jonah bossed and then they heard rustling around and the noise suddenly changed. A crowded room.
"He's puked, like a lot-" Leo offered, unhelpfully and Vince rubbed Lucas' arm, trying to keep him awake.
"While conscious?" Jonah asked, his voice muffled by the noise, "were you there?"
"No, we just found him," Vince's heart was in his throat. Had he severely fucked up by letting Luke out of his sight?
"Fuck," Jonah cursed and then his voice changed as they heard him telling the front desk of the hospital, "I need an ambulance to this address- Guys, where are you?"
"Uhm-" Vince struggled to remember, but Leo interrupted him, citing the address perfectly from memory.
"It's not far from the hospital, we're just around the corner of the university..." He added, then sucked in a sob as Lucas groaned and then his eyes rolled back into his head, turning into half moons of white.
"Shit! Leo, move, let's get him lying down-" Vince ushered him, rolling Luke to his side, almost curled up, "is this right? Should we stick something in his mouth so he won't bite his tongue?"
"Is he seizing?" Jonah yelled through the phone, interrupting Vince's worried questions.
"No, but he passed out," Leo answered, planting his fingers to Lucas' neck, "and his heart is really really fast."
"He might have a seizure. Do not hold him or try to stick your fingers in his mouth, or put anything in. All you'll do is choke him," Jonah sounded just as panicked as the rest of them, "check if he's breathing."
"He is, really slow, but he is."
"Alright, just move anything from around him that could potentially hurt hi-"
"Shit," Leo groaned just as Lucas' shuddered on his side and then coughed up another stream of pale vomit, this time all over the blonde's knee next to his head, "he's throwing up again."
"That's good, he's responsive then," Jonah sighed in relief, "three minutes for the ambulance, just stay with him- One of you should go talk with the bartender and see what he drank. Or took."
"Lucas doesn't do drugs," Vince said, defensively and Leo let out a disbelieving scoff.
"He also doesn't get black out drunk, but we're here!"
"I'll go..." Vince said, but didn't move. He couldn't move, "Jonah, is he going to be okay?" he said, voice small. Lucas might be acting like a prick, but he was not ready to lose his best friend. At twenty three? In some dingy pub's floor? No fucking way.
"Vince go check the bottles, the paramedic will need to know when they get there. Leo, check if he's breathing again, make sure it doesn't sound like he's wheezing."
Vince nodded, noticing just how Jonah had refused to answer his question. He got up, stumbling and rushed out of the bathroom.
Much to his relief no drugs had been involved, the bartender spilling the beans the minute Vince said Lucas was passed out and the ambulance would be there in a minute. Just loads and loads of alcohol, so much that the man ended up just writing it all down on a paper napkin, seeing as Vince was shaking too much and too choked up to properly remember any of the names.
"Which one of you is-"
"Vince, Vince," Leo tugged at his sleeve and from the way his nose and eyes were red, it was clear he was and had been crying, "you go. I - I'll just... I'll send the other guys home, I'll meet you there."
"Are you sure?" Vince asked, but he didn't mean it. There was zero chance he was staying behind when his best friend had a group of paramedics lifting him up.
"Yes, go. I'll meet you there," Leo was shaking like crazy, hyperventilating.
Vince nodded, drunkenly chasing after the paramedics and getting in the back part of the ambulance.
"Does he drink frequently?" the paramedic asked him immediately and Vince shook his head.
"No, almost never, actually," he squeezed Luke's hand, while they checked his respiratory vias, "he - He had a bad month, that's all."
"Is he a danger to himself?"
"No," Vince scoffed, "Luke's not dangerous, he's the nicest person I know-"
"No, sir, is he a danger to himself? Do you think the amount of alcohol consumed was purposeful?" the paramedic repeated, stabbing Luke's finger with something that looked like a diabetic device.
"I... I don't know, I don't think so...? No, Luke's not suicidal, no," Vince shook his head, knee deep in denial. He couldn't even wrap his mind around it, but besides just not believing Lucas was suicidal, he didn't believe this was how he'd choose to go, "no, not at all."
"Has he shown any concerning behavior recently?"
"Is he going to be okay?" Vince interrupted, "because you're sounding like- Like he's gonna be arrested or something, he just drank too much too fast. He's fine. He'll be fine, right?"
The paramedic, an older guy whom Vince vaguely remembered from the hospital, opened a small reassuring smile, "we're doing our best."
That was not a fucking answer, Vince scoffed, squeezing Lucas' hand even more tightly, urging him to wake the fuck up. What a mess of a night.
Once they parked, they rushed Lucas inside and ahead of him, but Jonah was already at the doors of ER, in scrubs and looking every piece as wrecked as Vince felt.
"Dr. Cohen is ta-"
Vince shut him up by tackling him into a hug, all of his emotions crashing down on him. He expected Jonah to pull back, but instead he squeezed him a little harder, letting out a measured breath.
"He's all white and... And dead... I- I don't-"
"Vince," Jonah pulled back, tugging on his white lab coat to force some composure, "breathe. Sit down. They're checking him over, there's nothing you can do now."
"Are they... What happens now?" Vince crumbled down on top of a hospital plastic chair, making the seat creak. Jonah shuffled uncomfortably.
"First we need him to wake up. Then we'll keep him for 12 hours on a glycose drip and diazepam."
Vince stared at him and Jonah opened an exhausted smile, "they'll just put him on IVs. It's not as dramatic as on TV... Bella called me."
"What?"
"Apparently she tried calling you too, but... Uhm, Luke called her before you guys found him. Scared the living crap out of her, she's on her way here."
"At... At 1 AM?"
"It's almost 3," Jonah rolled his eyes, wiping a hand over his face, "you should go wash up, you look like a mess. Leo said anything?"
"He should be here in a minute too, he said he'd meet me here."
"Okay, I'll wait for him then," Jonah crossed his arms, "go, Vince."

Where I’m From
Top Gun: Maverick - Hangman x f!reader [no use of y/n]
3.6k | Jake Seresin could handle lots of things. He was the only naval aviator of his time to have a confirmed kill - two, actually. He kept forgetting about that second one. It was newly under his belt, and, considering the circumstances surrounding it, he hadn’t felt too inclined to brag about it. Still, the point remained. Jake could carry the weight of taking a life, of saving a life, and of putting his life in harms way.
What he could not handle was the weeping girl in front of him, brushing away tears on their first date.
===
Genre: Fluff, slight angst
CW: swearing, kissing, mentions of past relationships (neglect)
Author’s Note: Is Jake slightly ooc? Yes. I just wholeheartedly believe this man would be a gentleman on a date. Also, soft!Jake >>>>>>> || cross-posted on Ao3
Part Two

===
“You’re early.” You said, opening the door wider and waving him in once you realized it was Hangman (a story you were hoping to pry out of him on your date tonight) standing across the threshold. “I’m almost done, I promise. I’m so sorry.”
“No need to apologize, sugar.” Something about the careless way he slung around terms of endearment like that heated your cheeks.
Jake stepped in with that same easy grin he was wearing when he’d asked you out. You look good, but I think you’d look even better sitting across from me at dinner tonight. Cocky, arrogant. A toothpick rolling back and forth between his teeth. Not your type at all, but it had been so long since you last dated someone.
So, when the blond in a military uniform slid into the booth across from you this afternoon at lunch you agreed. Without a single care for all the alarm bells ringing and desperate reminders from your subconscious that all men sucked.
And now you were standing in front of him with a half-zipped dress, half done hair, and nerves that made your hands shake so badly it was hard to finish anything at all. “Give me 5 minutes?”
Jake nodded, then, as though remembering why he’d gotten here so early to begin with, he moved his hand from behind his back and presented a small bouquet of flowers to you. Simple and sweet. “These are yours, darlin’.”
The accent brought you back to reality. Tied you down to earth and kept you from tearing up. “Oh, you didn’t have to do that.”
“I’m a gentleman, mostly,” Jake said, “so tell me where I can find a vase and I’ll get this set up. You go get ready.”
“Under the sink.” You waved your hand off in the general direction of the kitchen eyes still a bit too wide in shock. Someone had given you flowers. A complete stranger had given you flowers.
The stranger made towards where you vaguely gestured to but came halting to a stop shortly after. “Problem, doll?” He asked, turning back towards you with slight concern. Warranted concern, really, seeing that the noise that just escaped you made you sound like you’d been stabbed in the side.
“I’m sorry-”
“You need to stop apologizing.”
“I know, I’m sorry.” You ignored the look he shot you. “I- just… can you take your shoes off? Please?”
An easy smile crossed onto his face. More human than those prideful grins his flirting game so heavily relied on before. “Yes, I can do that.” Jake laughed, but it wasn’t rude or condescending. A kind-hearted, ‘I am so glad that’s all the problem was’ kind of laugh. “Go get ready so I can make everyone in that restaurant jealous that I’m takin’ the most beautiful lady out on a date.”
There wasn’t much arguing with that. You’d tried to come up with something witty to say to him as you finished getting ready, but every time you thought of what Jake had said to you your heart would beat a little faster and your head would spin. It was pointless. You could hardly remember your name when you looked his square in the face. If you were to actually stare into those green eyes of his you’d surely melt into the floor. Exactly what happened when you finally emerged from your room, shoes in hand, and let him at the front door.
Jake had been lingering in the foyer staring at all the pictures on your wall and the decorations that comprised who you wanted the world to see you as. A bit to honestly now that your eyes followed his to the goofy selfies or the ‘boofa deez nut’ candle you’d gotten as a gag gift and proudly displayed as a middle finger to the friend that had gotten it for you. The embarrassment should have killed you, but instead it was Jake’s eyes flicking up to meet yours that did you in.
You stumbled slightly. In your attempt to cover the movement to make it seem like you were bending over to put your shoes on, you’d stumbled more. Jake moved forward almost unconsciously to steady you, let out a low whistle and said, “You clean up nice.”
“You’re only saying that ‘cause you’ve seen me looking like half a disaster.”
“If that’s half a disaster, then you truly do put the ‘hot’ in ‘hot mess’, sugar.” Jake laughed and opened the door for you. He held it open, closed it behind you, and waited as you locked it. Then walked with you to the car to open the door for you there as well.
You thanked him, short and polite and completely caught off guard. Everything he said in that short walk from your front door to his car completely escaped you. Something about how you made a casual dress look like the most elegant outfit on earth. Just another charismatic comment to deepen the warm pool in your stomach. As though there weren’t enough butterflies flapping around in there already.
“You can pick the music.” Jake nodded toward the radio.
“I like classic rock,” you said. “It’s my favorite, actually.”
Jake grinned. “After my own heart. See, I knew there was somethin’ about you.” He turned slightly to put his arm around the passenger seat as he reversed, and you caught a whiff of his cologne. Subtle. Yet entirely welcomed, up until he winked at you.
Maybe this was all a game to him. Jake seemed like the type to charm a girl and leave her heartbroken. The prying eyes at the counter back at the diner had almost confirmed that for you. Whispers and nudging that you had wished you’d seen before you agreed to go out with him. This whole evening could very well be some big bet for the hot shots in the Navy to cash out on. All at your expense.
“So.” Jake cleared his throat. “You from around here?”
Once again, an awkward reminder that the two of you knew nothing about one another besides your names and addresses. Well, just Jake knew your address. He’d insisted on picking you up.
“No,” you told him. “Midwest, born and raised.”
“Stir crazy so you moved out West?”
“Something like that.” You nodded. “I’m going to take a shot in the dark and say you’re from down south?”
Jake laughed. Your heart skipped yet another beat and if it didn’t stop doing that you were going to have to schedule an appointment with your doctor before the night was out. “You’re a good shot.” He glanced over at you out of the corner of his eye. “Texas.”
“Oh, a cowboy?”
“Hardly.” He drummed his fingers on the steering wheel to the best of the radio. “I know my way around a horse, but I like to think I belong in the sky.”
“So, I should call you flyboy instead?” You ask with a slight giggle to your voice. More nervous than anything but there’s no mistaking the way the corners of Jake’s lips pull back at the sound. You want to take a detour to base just to ask those friends of his if he normally smiles this much or if you can allow yourself to feed into the delusion that someone as stunning as him saw you in a rundown diner having lunch and was so enamored by you that he simply had to ask you out.
“Only if you put a ‘my’ in front of it.”
Conversation flowed easily after that. The drive to the restaurant wasn’t long but still let you have a good idea of who Jake was. A flirt, first and foremost. He couldn’t go thirty seconds without calling you ‘darlin’’ or ‘sugar’ and any way Jake could make a comment about how wonderful you were, he was taking it. You stared at him the entire ride, studying his profile. He was a handsome man. There was no denying that. Old-fashioned in the way where you and your friend would flip through history books and point out who you would have fallen in love with during that time period. If someone were to show you a grainy photo of a navy pilot, his was the kind of face you’d imagine.
He pulled into a spot, and you immediately set to unbuckling and letting yourself out of the car.
“Ah,” Jake said as he shut off the car, “stay where you are.” And he hopped out to jog to the passenger side. “Here you are, darlin’.” He opened the door, offering you a hand, and helping you out of the car.
“Do they teach chivalry classes down in Texas?” You ask. He’s too busy positioning your hand on his bicep and leading you into the restaurant, where he holds open the door for you again, to answer.
“Sersin. Party of two,” he tells the host, who leads you to a table with a single, unlit candle in the middle.
Jake pulls your chair out for you, then settles in across from you in a strange mimicry of earlier today. You half expect him to spew the same cheesy pickup line but instead he fishes a lighter out of his pocket to light the candle.
“That’s better,” he says and turns his full attention on you with a grin. “So, tell me everything there is to know about you.”
You laugh, genuine this time. “About me?” He nods. “There’s not much to know about me. I’m kind of boring.”
Jake shakes his head. “I don’t believe you.”
“I’m serious! My life is eat, sleep, work, repeat.”
“So is mine.”
“Yeah but you’re flying fighter jets and I’m too nervous to ask my boss for a promotion when I’m doing the work of two people.”
Jake’s eyebrows shoot up. “The work of two people, huh? You’re a hard worker, and I’m guessing you’re damn good at what you do, too. I wouldn’t call that boring.”
You roll your eyes at him, but the compliment brings a smile to your face. “I guess you could say that.”
“Okay, so, you’re hardworking, talented, and beautiful. What else is there to know about you, doll?”
“Actually, flyboy, I want to know why they call you Hangman.” You lean forward and rest your chin in your hand. “That’s what everyone was calling you earlier today.”
He nods, leaning back in his seat. You drink in the movement. The way Jake squaring his shoulders has his nice green button down straining against his muscles and how he runs his tongue over his lips as he conjures up a thought.
“The real story, Seresin.” You raise an eyebrow in his direction.
“You remember my last name?”
“I texted it to my friend just in case you were secretly trying to murder me.”
He nods slowly. “You can never be too careful now a days.”
“Yup.”
“Well, you can tell your friend the only reason I’ll be making you scream is because my tongue is magic.” The waiter chooses that moment to appear over your shoulder asking if you and Jake are ready to order anything, leaving you a stuttering mess as you struggle to order something to drink. You can hardly form the word water to the point that Jake does it for you. “Thanks,” he tells the waiter as he walks off. Then he focuses his full attention back on you. “You held yourself together well.”
“Oh fuck off, you did that on purpose.” By the way he doesn’t deny it, you can tell you have him pegged. “Back to your true story.”
“It’s not as interesting as the one everyone else likes to tell.”
“I don’t care, flyboy. I want to know you, not everyone else.”
Interest sparks in his green eyes. “If you insist.” He leans forward, mimicking the way you’re on the edge of your seat. “In flight school we were running drills out in an old hangar when this nasty storm rolled him. Hurricane level winds and shit. Came out of nowhere. None of us were feeling too inclined to make a run for it in that kind of rain so we figured we’d hole up in the hangar for a few hours. There was an old radio that worked for a little bit, and we figured there was no time like the presence to get some maintenance on this jet done until the weather down, but the power went out.
“We had some flashlights and lanterns and things so it’s not like we were totally in the dark, but the stories ran out fast. We were bored out of minds. So, I recommended playing hangman. Something easy and simple ‘cause you can’t get too competitive with these guys. They take it way too far.”
“By them,” you cut in, “I’m guessing you mean you?”
He nods. “I won every single round and stumped them with all my puzzles.”
“Impressive,” you say, “I bet that pissed them all off.”
“Let’s just say everyone else’s version of why they call me Hangman holds a slight hint of disdain.”
The rest of the dinner flows naturally. You two talk without a single lull in conversation. He makes you laugh. He continues to compliment you every chance he can. But the real thing that works its way under your skin and lodges itself in your chest is the way he offers to switch plates with you when you take a bite of your meal and realize you don’t like it.
“No, Jake, you don’t have to. I’m a big girl. I’ll just deal with it.”
“Nonsense. It was my recommendation anyway.” Jake stares at you, jaw set, and voice firm. “I am not having you starving on this date. Give me your plate.”
And so, you swap plates with him taking a bite out of the steak he’d been raving about in the car when something in you breaks. You can hear how excited his tone of voice was. “It’s hard to get a decent steak when you’re on base.” He had told you. “The chow hall is okay if you like shoe leather and all, but now I hardly have time to make a decent cut of meat for myself.”
He gave it up so easily. The minute you set down your fork after three or four bites. Jake was telling you he’d switch. It… it was too much and you couldn’t help the sweeping off tears pushing at the back of your throat.
“Ah, shit.” He whispered. “Do you not want the steak? I can order you something else-”
You cut him off with the wave of your hand, which you quickly used to press over your mouth and stifle and unflattering sob. “No,” you whimpered, “this is perfect. Everything is perfect.”
“Are you sure?” Jake asked. “Because most ladies don’t start crying on dates when things are going well.”
You could tell he meant well. There was a joking lot to his voice and the bastard grin was back in his face but it only reminded you of how out of your element you were right now.
“I’m sorry.”
“I already told you to cut that out, sugar.”
“I know.” You sniffled, but tears kept falling. “I’m sorry. I really am.”
“It’s okay. Just take a deep breath.” Jake softened a bit. He reached out across the table, palm up waiting for you to slip your hand in his. When you did, he squeezed softly. “Want to talk about it?”
With your free hand you swiped at your cheeks. “I haven’t been on a first date in- actually, I’ve never even been on a date.”
There was no denying the way Jake’s eyes widened. “You’re tellin’ me men aren’t breakin’ down your door to take a pretty thing like you out on dates?” You shake your head. “See, that’s the issue with California folk, they’re idiots.”
He grins gently at you, which you return in full. “I wouldn’t say that.”
“I would.”
“I’ve had a couple boyfriends, but we never did relationship stuff.” Jake’s brows furrow in confusion and you rush to explain. “They would never want to leave the house. If I wanted to go out it would have to be by myself. They never asked me on dates or called me ‘darlin’’-” Jake rolls his eyes at your imitation of his accent- “or tell me I look beautiful. None of them ever held a door open for me. This is the first time I’ve even gotten flowers…” you trail off and bite down on your lip.
“I guess I should have seen it coming,” you fill the silence. “Everyone I’ve ever been in a relationship with has cheated on me. I guess I’ve always been a side chick or a rebound or whatever and you don’t really take side chicks out on dates. I always figured I wasn’t worth the romantic stuff, but there you are taking me out to a nice dinner and swapping dinners with me and… and I got overwhelmed.”
Jake is staring at you with a strange mix of anger and confusion. The gaze is lacking pity, which you appreciate. If he were to think of you as a poor girl who couldn’t land a date, you’d walk home before finishing this dinner.
He says your name so softly for the first time that night. There’s a thousand times more emotion in that name than all the pet names he’s been calling you.
“This isn’t romance.” The words make your heart sink. “This is the bare minimum. Basic kindness, sweetheart. You deserve this and nothing less. I- it makes me so frustrated to hear you talking about a relationship where some asshole let you believe you didn’t deserve to be treated like a princess.” Jake’s voice wavers slightly as he talks, anger bleeding in but not raising his voice to an unacceptable level. “Where I come from this isn’t chivalry. This is the way things are done. If I’m taking a beautiful girl like you out on a date, you better believe I’m going to make sure you know that I’m the lucky one.”
More tears prick at your eyes. Your bottom starts to quiver and when you open your mouth to apologize for getting weepy again Jake shakes his head at you. “I don’t know which one of those ducks told you that you had to apologize all the time, and I’m sure it was one of them, but you never have to apologize for things like this, doll. You’re allowed to have feelings. You’re allowed to talk about them.”
“Yeah, but it’s not good etiquette to bring up your exes on a first date.” You slip your hand from his to better wipe at your face. This sinking feeling of shame seeps into you. You probably look like just as much of a wreck as you were turning this date into.
“So this won’t be our first date, then.” Jake says it so simply. The easiest solution in the wonderful despite it not making sense in the slightest.
“What?”
“We’ll call this afternoon our first date. I stole food for your plate and took a couple sips of your drink, so it counts.” Jake grins at you. “This is our second date, which means it is completely okay to talk about your exes.”
With a small sniffle you manage to meet his eye again. The intensity that he looks at you has your face warming up again. “I have to say, Jake. I think I’m the lucky one tonight.”
“You’re not sitting on my end of the table.”
===
Bonus:
Jake insisted on opening the door for you again when he pulled up to your house after dinner. The two do you had lingered as long as humanly possible, but the wait staff looked as though they were going to run the pair of you through with a kitchen knife, so you reluctantly chose to head back towards home.
“Thank you.” You grabbed his hand as you stepped out of the car.
“Gives me an excuse to walk you to your door, pretty girl.”
“Oh, so this was all part of your masterplan?”
He laughs and stops under the light of your porch light. You’re fiddling with your keys, not too eager to open the door and end the night. Jake steps closer towards you, saying your name again for the second time that night. It’s a magnet, pulling you towards him so that his hands can settle at your waist. Those green eyes of his flick down to your lips. “Can I kiss you?”
“I was waiting for you to ask that.”
Jake slides a hand from your waist to cup your cheek and he brings his lips to yours. No kiss you’ve ever had feels the way this one does. Right. Even your long-term relationships were twinged with shame or doubt. Kissing Jake feels like forgetting your own name is completely normal because you want to be washed up in this feeling of bliss for forever. He pulls away after a few seconds, resting his forehead against yours, and it takes him a moment to finally open his eyes.
“Do you want to come in?” You ask, voice cracking slightly.
“I don’t know,” he says, “I don’t want you to think I’m only trying to hook up with you.”
You smile and press another soft kiss to his lips. Once again Jake takes a few seconds afterwards to fully look at you. “I don’t think that’s going to be a problem.”
“Why’s that?”
“Because you’re having hesitations about sleeping with me on our second date and that’s something only gentlemen do.”
Jake laughs. The sound is like the bliss of your kiss personified. You want to drown in it.
“Plus, I think you promised me that I’d have a story to tell my friend about how good your tongue is… or do you only use your mouth to talk big game?”
He nipped at your bottom lip. “Unlock that damn door right now, dollface.”
You thought he’d never ask.

Tumblr media
Well then.
Apparently this was how civilians dated.
You couldn’t exactly say you were very familiar with it. Your line of work didn’t exactly allow you to date and do normal couple stuff, let alone with a civilian. Spies were easier, you didn’t trust them and you knew they didn’t trust you.
Except for missions, you didn’t have any date nights unless they included going after targets.
That was why posing as a civilian was almost a relief. It was simpler, more fun, more peaceful-
Even happier.
“What do you mean you can’t give me a clue?” you asked, “It’s date night, you’re supposed to give me a clue. Those are the rules.”
“I don’t remember any rule like that.”
You slurped on the milkshake, dangling your legs back and forth on the high seat you were perched on.
“Well, how am I supposed to know what to wear then?”
Bucky tilted his head, eyeing your uniform with a grin on his face and you slapped at his arm playfully.
“Are you serious?”
He held up his hands, gesturing surrender. “I said nothing.”
“I refuse to believe you find this uniform hot.”
“Why?”
“Bucky, just look at this!”
“Believe it or not I’ve been looking at it for some time now.”
You rolled your eyes, “You’re so full of it.”
“Oh trust me darling, I’m completely sincere.”
You raised your brows, “How?”
He heaved a sigh and looked like he was considering whether he should tell you or not while you waited patiently.
“When we were—“ he licked his lips, “When—uh, back in the 40s, one of my buddies, he had this poster on the wall of the barrack we were staying in.”
You gawked at him, “A poster of…?”
“A pin up.”
“In this uniform?”
“Almost the same, yeah.”
You let out a clear laugh, “Oh my God, that’s why you reacted like that when you first saw me in this?”
The tips of his ears went pink before he dragged his gaze from yours and you awwed.
“Then it’s only fair if I ask you to return the favor and dress up from 40s.”
“As if you know any—“
“Clark Gable.” You cut him off and scrunched up your face, “Was that too quick?”
“A little, yeah,” he said, “Do you want to try again?”
“….Yes please.”
“As if you know anyone from those times.”
You cleared your throat, trying to play it cool, “I’m just pulling this idea out of thin air, but Clark Gable.”
“I don’t think I can pull off that mustache, Y/N.”
“I mean have you tried?” you asked, narrowing your eyes and he shook his head.
“Stop imagining me with that mustache.”
“You would look good!” you insisted, grinning mischievously and he heaved a sigh.
“Clark Gable? Seriously?”
“Bucky, I’m the one who’s dressed up like a pin up your buddies used to fantasize about, so I feel like you should give me some credit here.”
“Fair enough.”
“Why thank you,” you pointed out, “So? Where are we going?”
“You can ask as much as you want,” Bucky grinned, “It’s not going to work.”
You threw your head back, letting out a whine. “But I want to know!” you said, “Okay, is it inside or outside?”
“Outside.”
“A concert!”
“Not a concert.”
You pursed your lips, deep in thought, “…Flea market. You’re taking me to the flea market.”
He pulled his brows together, confusion written all over his face, “You think we used to go to flea markets on a date?”
“Picnic!”
“In the evening?” he asked and you pouted.
“It would be a romantic evening picnic.”
“Do you want to have a romantic evening picnic?”
You shook your head fervently, “I want whatever you have planned!”
“Nah, I’m putting romantic evening picnic on the list.”
“You have a list?” you asked and he nodded.
“Yep.”
“Can I see it?”
“No.”
You huffed out, making him laugh, “Aw, you’re adorable when you’re frustrated.”
“Bucky!” you whined again, making his smile bigger.
“Yes darling?”
“It’s not fair,” you insisted but before you could say anything else, you heard Tara’s voice.
“Hey lovebirds,” she said, “I hate to interrupt because you two make a beautiful couple, but your break is almost over and I’m going to need some help at the freezer.”
Bucky’s body tensed up beside yours but only for a second, and you pressed your lips together.
Right. Freezer probably didn’t bring up good memories.
“I can help if you want?” Bucky said slowly and you shook your head.
“Nope. Company policy, only staff can go in.” You leaned in to peck him on the lips, “What time will you pick me up?”
“Around 8:30.” He stole another kiss from you and stood up, “I’ll see you tonight.”
“See you tonight!”
“Have a nice day Tara.”
“You too Romeo,” Tara said as he left the shop and you followed her to the freezer.
“He is so whipped,” she commented, making you grin, “And so are you.”
Your jaw dropped, “Hey!” you said as you helped her with the chocolate milkshake container, “Not nice!”
“I can already picture how cute your children will be.”
You almost dropped the container at the mention but managed to catch it and pull yourself together.
“Oh I don’t think…” you trailed off, trying to ignore the pang at the pit of your stomach, “I don’t think he wants—um, I don’t think we—“
“Aw you really are cute,” Tara said, “Come on now. Are you telling me you never thought about a future with him?”
The image that flashed in front of your eyes was almost taunting you but you bit inside your cheek, then shook your head.
“My last relationship ended really badly,” you explained, “And Bucky has had a rough couple of….”
Decades.
“Years,” you said, “And everything is pretty complicated, I don’t think that’s possible.”
“Well, do you want it to be possible?”
You pushed your hair back and grabbed the nearest set of jars to put them on the shelf one by one, just so you could keep yourself busy.
“It doesn’t really matter what I want,” you heard yourself say, “It won’t make any difference in the future either.”
                                         ***
“A funfair,” Chloe looked up with a bright smile on her face as soon as you jumped up to sit on her desk. “He’s taking you to a funfair.”
“Wait, really?” you let out a laugh, “Oh that’s cute.”
“Who knew The Winter Soldier could be romantic?” she said, “I’d probably swoon if someone took me to a funfair.”
You could swear Keith appeared out of thin air behind you, “What?”
“Holy shit!” you exclaimed and pressed a hand over your chest, “Don’t sneak up on me like that!”
“Who’s swooning?”
“Barnes is taking Y/N to a funfair,” Chloe said, “Isn’t that romantic?”
“You find funfairs romantic?”
“Yeah!”
“Keith,” you raised your brows, “Aren’t you busy?”
“Nope, General is talking to Julian so I’m not busy at all.”
You heaved a sigh, “My meeting with him lasted like an hour, how did he let you go so fast?”
“Easy. I’m not the team leader.”
You sipped your coffee, crossing your legs and Keith grinned.
“So, did you tell her yet?”
Chloe frowned, “Did she tell me what yet?”
“Why Barnes stayed over at your place until midnight last night?”
“Y/N!” Chloe gasped, “You promised we would go lingerie shopping before you slept with him!”
“First of all, I didn’t sleep with him, and second of all, Keith nosey neighbor much?”
“It’s literally my job Y/N.”
“What happened?” Chloe asked, barely able to sit straight as Julian walked past you three to check his laptop on an empty desk near Chloe’s. You gritted your teeth, and turned to Chloe.
“Hm?”
“You have to tell us!” she said and Keith laughed.
“At least give us a base.”
“Second base?” Chloe offered and out of the corner of your eye, you could see Julian clenching his jaw.
“Nah no way,” Keith said, “The guy hasn’t been getting laid since what? 40s? Third base.”
No bases. None at all, Bucky was a gentleman and seeing that you were quite shaken up last night, he had just held you while you two watched that ridiculous action movie until you could calm down a little.
He hadn’t even asked any questions.
“Do you think he—“
“Y/N,” Julian’s voice cut through Chloe’s, “Can I talk to you for a moment? Alone?”
You pulled your brows together, “About what?”
“The mission.”
You eyed him up and down, then shrugged your shoulders and made your way to the nearest empty room, which happened to be a meeting room. He followed you inside and closed the door behind him as you turned around to look at him, already dreading this conversation.
“So?”
“So General agrees with me.”
Your head shot up, “I beg your pardon?”
“He agrees that it was quick thinking on my part when Barnes walked in on us arguing,” he said, making you grit your teeth, “Granted it wasn’t idea, but we can turn it around to work on our advantage—“
“Bullshit,” you cut him off, “Are you serious?”
“To repeat, an ex-boyfriend creates an environment of competition,” he said, making you scrunch up your nose in distaste.
“Unbelievable,” you said, “You know, just because General doesn’t see through this whole façade doesn’t mean you fool everyone else in here.”
“What façade?”
“Oh give me a break!” you let out a humorless laugh, “This whole teammate trying to be helpful bullshit. You don’t think anyone but yourself, you’ve proven you can’t be trusted and you want to take over this mission.”
“I couldn’t take over this mission if I tried,” he pointed out “I’m not Barnes’ type.”
You rolled your eyes, “Oh look at you, you got jokes now.”
“Just saying, I wouldn’t look as cute in that uniform.”
“Fuck you.”
“Y/N—“
“You’re not taking over my mission.”
“I’m not trying to take over your mission,” he explained patiently, “I’m trying to help you, is that so hard to believe?”
“I think we both know you couldn’t care less about me,” you said, “As that last mission proved.”
The amused, taunting light in his eyes was dimmed in a second as he gawked at you, brows pulled together in confusion.
“What?” he asked after a beat, “You think I don’t care about you?”
You let out a laugh, “I’m sorry, is that a trick question?” you asked, “You sure as hell didn’t care back then.”
He ran a hand over his face, “I think you and I remember that last mission quite differently,” he said, “I did what I had to do—“
“Uh huh.”
“I thought you would do the same,” he insisted, “Y/N, I was trying to get us out of there, just because I beat you to it—“
“I would never!” you snapped at him and he shook his head.
“Have you ever thought maybe that’s a problem?”
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“Why do you think the General put me into this mission?” he asked and you shrugged your shoulders.
“Are we going to pretend you’re here to do something else other than spying on me and reporting it back?”
“No, that’s not my mission,” he said, “I’m here to make sure you don’t do what you always do.”
“What, nailing the mission?”
“Running headfirst into danger,” he said, “You ran into world’s most dangerous assassin whom you’re playing the honeypot for, and any other spy would get the fuck out of there but what did you do? You taunted him. Twice.”
“Well I hate to break it to you, but I know Bucky better than you or the General—“
“You mean the Winter Soldier?”
“…Yeah,” you corrected yourself, “Yeah I know the Winter Soldier better than you two do. Better than anyone here.”
“It doesn’t matter,” he said, “I don’t know who told you otherwise, but not your every decision is right on missions. You keep taking unnecessary risks because you think it’s fun.”
“Maybe. But hey, at least I don’t leave people to die.”
A muscle in his jaw ticked and he closed his eyes for a moment as if it was way too difficult for him to hear and opened them again.
“I didn’t leave you to die, Y/N.”
You scoffed, “Alright,” you said, walking to the door, “We’re done here—“
“Are you sleeping with him?”
Your hand on the doorknob froze and you looked over your shoulder, “I’m sorry?”
“Are you sleeping with Barnes?”
“Who wants to know?” you asked, “You or the General?”
“Does it matter?”
“Yeah. If it’s you, I can ask why it’s any of your business.”
He shifted his weight, suddenly dragging his gaze from yours.
“I just…” he murmured, “I don’t like it.”
You paused for a moment, trying to wrap your head around the idea before you clicked your tongue.
“Well that’s a relief,” you stated, “I don’t give a fuck what you like.”
With that, you swung open the door and left the meeting room, not even looking back once.
                                    ***
In your defense, when you went to bed for a nap you didn’t think that 15 minute nap would turn into a whole two hours. You were still groggy by the time you woke up and your hair was a mess and you still had no idea what to wear and—
You were starving and way too thirsty.
You stretched out as you walked to the kitchen, still trying to pull yourself together but it was already dark outside so it was making things even worse. You flipped the switch and opened the fridge to grab the water bottle, uncapping it and taking big gulps. After you were done, you took out two slices of bread and peanut butter and jam, then quickly made a sandwich to take a bite. Leaning back, you let out a sigh and eyed the gun on the table.
You had a feeling the General would send you on another night mission soon.
You took another bite of your sandwich but your head shot up when you heard the doorbell ring and you almost dropped the water bottle but caught it mid-air.
“Shit…” you whispered and grabbed the gun to put it in the kitchen cabinet, and placed the sandwich on the plate, then made your way to the door to open it.
A fond smile pulled at Bucky’s lips as soon as he took in your disheveled appearance, “Hello there Dracula.”
“I’m so sorry,” you tried to fix your hair, “I…I was taking a nap and then I didn’t hear my alarm and—“
“Don’t worry about it darling,” he said, “You look beautiful.”
“I look like a mess,” you corrected him, scrunching up your nose and stepped aside so that he could walk in. He pulled you closer to peck you on the lips.
“Hi.”
“Hi back,” you smiled up at him and made your way to the kitchen with him following you suit.
“I’m just going to finish this and then I’ll get ready in like ten minutes, promise!”
“Not a problem,” he said as you jumped up to sit on the counter, dangling your legs, “If you want to stay in tonight—“
“No no!” you interrupted him, “I want to go to…um, wherever it is we’re going. Do you want some?” you held up the sandwich, “I could make you one too.”
Bucky stepped closer to you to take a bite of your sandwich, making you giggle.
“I mean do you want your own?”
“You’re not good with sharing?”
“Nope,” you shook your head, still smiling as he put his palms on the counter either side of your legs, caging you in.
“No?”
“Nuh uh.” You said, then leaned in to peck him on the lips again before you pulled back to take a bite out of your sandwich.
“How was your day?” you asked, and he heaved a sigh.
“Mm, uneventful.”
“Uneventful can be a nice change.”
“You think so?”
“Yeah I mean…at least your ex doesn’t show up out of nowhere,” you paused for a moment, “Or in your case, doesn’t escape from nursing home.”
He chuckled, his thumbs caressing the soft skin of your legs, making you distracted for a moment as the warmth filled you again.
“Did he visit you again?”
You tried to focus and looked up at him, “Hm?”
“Julian.”
“Oh,” you made a face and shook your head, “No. No but something tells me that wasn’t the last time I saw him.”
“Really?” he said, “I still feel like the next time he shows up you should let me know so that I can—“
“I already know what you’re going to say, and no.”
“What was I going to say?”
“Some macho showdown nonsense,” you said with a laugh, “Seriously. I can take care of myself.”
“I know you can,” he said with a sigh, “But the guy said and I quote, he would take you away from me, so forgive me if I want to have a talk with him.”
You rolled your eyes, “No one is taking anyone from anyone,” you said, “Number one, we don’t live in Stone Age. Number two, I’m quite happy with who I am dating now.”
A small smile curled his lips, “Are you?”
“I mean,” you heaved a dramatic sigh, “I would be happier if my date told me where we’re going but can’t win ‘em all.”
You pressed a kiss on his cheek and jumped down.
“Okay, I’ll be ready in a couple of minutes, knock yourself out,” you said, “There’s beer in the fridge if you want.”
“Thanks,” he said and you walked to your bedroom to open your closet, then grabbed a dress and put it on. After quickly doing your make up, you found the lipstick you were looking for and started applying it.
“Darling do you have a bottle opener?”
“Yes, it’s in the kitchen cabinet!” you called out and checked your reflection in the mirror before your mind caught up to what you had just said. Panic crashed into you, knocking the breath out of you and you dropped the lipstick to rush to the kitchen.
“Bucky wait—“ you started but as soon as you saw the open cabinet, your stomach dropped. He looked at you over his shoulder with a frown on his face, then turned around and held up your gun, making you swallow thickly.
“So,” he said, his gaze pinning you to your spot. “Anything you would like to tell me?”

Riye (A Favor) - Alpha-17/f!Reader fic

Tumblr media
Third installment of my Alpha-17/fem!reader fic!
Word-Count: 3,100
Warnings: aggressive flirtation, Alpha is rude.
---
You carefully straightened the neckline of your shirt, eyes on the refresher mirror. It might be silly, but today marked a full month since you had come to Kamino, and you wanted to look your best.
Your outfit had survived the morning, despite a meeting with several Kaminoans who wanted updates on your progress. You had been able to deliver good news - that you were right on schedule - but a sense of doubt overshadowed any triumph you might have felt. The first deadline had been met, but the next one promised to step up the workload, and you were already feeling overwhelmed at the idea.
Still, you were determined to push the negativity out of your mind. You would figure out a better schedule to complete the work later. Today was a celebration.
The bad thing about taking more care with your appearance was that it attracted more attention than usual from the cadets. You had politely turned away two different groups of young men by the time Alpha was due to arrive in the cafeteria. Another cadet - alone, this time - was doing his best to keep from being dismissed as well.
"Was it raining when you came in, ma’am?" he asked, leaning over you. "I have flight drills after this and it gets even more dangerous in the rain."
You did your best not to smile at the obvious way he was hinting about being a pilot. "You know, I think it was raining the last time I was near a window," you told him, voice grave.
"Then I'm going to need some luck to survive," he said dramatically, flashing you a smile he clearly hoped would be charming. "I've heard a kiss from a beautiful woman is a good start. What do you think? It might help me survive the afternoon."
"I wouldn't count on it," a dark voice warned.
The cadet stood as straight as possible as Alpha approached. The captain brushed your new pilot friend aside with a twist of his armored shoulders and sat down. He proceeded to start eating, ignoring the cadet completely.
Any other cadet would have backed away, thankful that Alpha hadn't decided to throw them directly into the oceans of Kamino, but this one was more determined than most.
He winked at you from behind Alpha's head. "By the way, my name is-"
"She doesn't want to know your name," Alpha told him. "Get out of here before I decide that I want to know it."
"Very flattering, Captain," the cadet said cheekily. "But Jango's face isn't the one I want to wake up to, yeah?"
Alpha swallowed his mouthful of food and deliberately set his fork aside, standing slowly from the table. He drew up to his full height before turning around. He was taller than the cadet, forcing the younger man to look up.
"Now I'm extremely interested," Alpha said slowly, his slow and methodical voice dripping with menace. "What's your designation?"
Behind him, you winced. You hated how glaringly obvious it was that the Kaminoans considered these men products. Also, this cadet might die in front of you and that would almost certainly ruin your ability to eat in the cafeteria anymore.
"CT-7115," the cadet said with a grin.
"Ah, part of Zackra Trem's group." Alpha raised his comlink. "Trem."
"Alpha," a female voice returned immediately.
"I've got one of your pilot cadets here in the cafeteria. 7115."
"Broadside," Trem said, clearly recognizing the number. "He's one of my best, Alpha. Don't break him too badly."
"No promises," Alpha replied, turning slightly back toward Broadside. Since you were seated directly behind Alpha, you couldn't see his expression yourself, but it was enough to make Broadside's grin slip for the first time.
"I'll make you a deal," Trem offered. "I'll give him hell here and then send him back to you tonight. I'm sure he could help you demonstrate something unpleasant to your ARCs."
Alpha considered that for a long moment while Broadside shifted uncomfortably. Eventually, he conceded, "That works."
Trem laughed. "Do I even wanna know what he did to you?"
"Harassed an uninterested female."
The laughter emanating from the comlink's speakers cut off abruptly. "In that case, I think we should coordinate punishments. I'll be in touch, Captain."
The transmission cut off suddenly and Alpha looked at Broadside once more. "You had best get to your training, son."
Broadside, looking suddenly concerned, nodded and hurried away. “What was that?” you asked quietly when Alpha had sat down across from you once more.
“I told his superior officer about his behavior.”
“What more than that?” you pressed.
Alpha grinned suddenly, and it was half a snarl. “It just so happens that his superior officer is Zackra Trem. It’s not my story to tell, but she’s got more reason than most to hate that kind of osik behavior.”
You could very well guess the rest of that story. Your heart twisted for Trem, though you had never met her. “I’m sorry to hear that.”
“Nice, but she wouldn’t appreciate the sentiment,” Alpha told you, not unkindly. “Feel sorry for your little pilot. She’s a Weequay who ran with Mandalorians for the past few decades. Whatever she makes him do, it won’t be pleasant.”
You chuckled at that, trying not to actually feel sorry for Broadside. In the time you had been hanging around Alpha, most of the cadets had eased up a bit on flirting, but every now and then, someone crossed the line.
Alpha picked his fork up again and shot you an intense look. “Why are you dressed like that?”
Though your immediate instinct was to be embarrassed about being overdressed, even mildly, you rolled your eyes at him. “Anything looks like too much when everyone else wears uniforms all of the time. Remember that day I wore a necklace?”
“Yeah, I remember,” Alpha said, snorting. “A necklace. What are you, a Senator?”
“Your ideas of fancy clothing are extremely skewed, I hope you know that,” you told him, adjusting your collar again.
“Hazards of the job,” Alpha replied with a casual shrug as he returned his focus to his food. “Looks okay, though.”
You paused, staring openly at him. Had Alpha just complimented you? Surely not… The universe wouldn’t survive such unexpected behavior, not without signs that space was collapsing in on itself.
Alpha noticed you watching him and lifted an eyebrow in question while he chewed. You just shook your head and applied yourself to your own lunch, avoiding his curious eyes. Explaining your thought process there would be an intensive effort, especially if your goal was to keep him from being uncomfortable.
Fortunately, avoiding Alpha’s eyes let you notice the approaching cadet sooner than your companion did, and you had time to brace yourself before the young man - even younger than you were used to seeing - opened his mouth.
“Excuse me-”
“Kriff,” Alpha said loudly, dark brows crashing down over his eyes. “Go away, kid. I’ve already ruined one cadet’s day and I have no problem adding to the list. She doesn’t want to talk to you.”
“N-no, sir, of course not,” the cadet told him, nodding respectfully at you as he went on. “I wanted to talk to you. Is it true you served with General Kenobi?”
"What?" Alpha asked, sounding uncertain for the first time since you had met him. You quirked your brows, unsure of whether to be amused or concerned.
"General Kenobi," the cadet repeated. "And General Skywalker, too! I heard you went on a mission with both of them. What was it like?"
"Look, kid, I don't have time to answer all your questions about Jedi-"
"That's fine!" the cadet told him. "I already know everything there is to know about the Jedi. I want to know more about your experience, specifically."
The muscles in Alpha's jaw flexed and you quickly interrupted. "What's your name?"
"Dogma, ma'am," the cadet told you, making an apologetic face. "I know names are against regulations, but my batchers won't stop calling me that. My designation is CT-4287."
“Nice to meet you, Dogma,” you said politely.
Dogma's cheeks darkened and he gave a tight nod. "You too, ma'am."
"Stop flirting with the poor boy," Alpha chided and you gaped at the captain. So much for trying to help him.
"Dogma, I'm sure Captain Alpha would love to answer any question you have," you told the young cadet, grinning triumphantly at Alpha.
"Wait," Alpha ordered, catching at your wrist before you could stand up. His hand was ridiculously huge and you found yourself shackled by his gentle grip. "You haven't finished eating."
You grinned wider at him, slipping your wrist out from between his fingers. "I'll take it with me. Have fun, you two!"
Dogma gave a half-hearted wave while Alpha glared.
---
The rest of the afternoon was spent locked away in your office, working on the second major project you had to complete. Your concerns about the deadline were unfortunately proving correct. The icy grip of stress and fear were squeezing your heart, and you were honestly relieved when someone knocked on the door of your office.
“One moment!” you called to the unseen visitor, but they didn’t seem to hear you. Instead, they continued to pound on the door until you opened it. You were unsurprised to see Alpha on the other side, glowering down at you.
“You’re mean for a nat-born,” he grumbled, brushing you aside as he pushed into the office.
After letting the door slide closed once more, you followed him over to your desk and plopped down in your chair. Rather than sit in one of the chairs opposite you, Alpha leaned his hip against the side of your desk, much closer than you were comfortable with.
In a show of belligerence, you crossed your arms and lifted your chin as you replied, “Serves you right for being rude about my outfit.”
“I didn’t say anything bad about your clothes!” Alpha denied, befuddled.
“Yeah, well, you didn’t say anything nice about them, either,” you argued childishly, conveniently forgetting his half-compliment at lunch.
Alpha frowned. “You want me to… talk about clothing with you?”
Well. Put that way, it did sound a little silly. Of all of the things you were sure Alpha did well, deep discussions about fashion might be beyond him. Honestly, they might be beyond you, too. You sighed. “No, I don’t want you to talk about clothing with me, but I was trying to look nice today. I put a lot of effort into this.”
“I don’t understand why,” Alpha said. “You look… fine… every other day.”
“Fine,” you repeated dryly. “Thanks, I was going for fine.”
“I don’t understand what I did wrong.” You were able to hear the growing frustration in his voice. “What do you want me to do?”
“Maybe don’t act like I’m wearing a ballgown to work if I show up wearing a necklace!”
“What is a ballgown?”
You stared at Alpha, the simple question making your brain screech to a halt. It was like a chasm had opened between you, and it made you reconsider a few things. Since you had arrived on Kamino, you had treated the clone troopers as if they were people you might meet out in the galaxy, but that wasn’t exactly true. You still believed that they were people - of course you did - but you were only just coming to realize how different they were from anyone you had ever met. While the troopers shared their own experiences on Kamino and had been trained to be perfect soldiers by the time they shipped out, they were startlingly young by the standards of the rest of the galaxy.
“You know what? It doesn’t matter.” You fiddled with one of the many datapads littering your desk rather than meet Alpha’s intense gaze. “I am sorry for siccing Dogma on you, though.”
“You should be,” he growled. “He asked ten questions before I could shake him off. Ten!”
“Wow, that’s what? Five days worth of questions?” you teased.
“Five days for you,” Alpha told you seriously. “For anyone else, that’s more than I would ever answer.”
You were unreasonably touched by the reminder that Alpha let you learn things about him that no one else would ever know. Moved by a sudden surge of warmth for the ARC captain, you repeated your prior sentiment, but more fervently. “In that case, I honestly apologize for unleashing Dogma. If there’s anything I can do to make him back off, please let me know.”
Alpha’s stare was level and unwavering. “Yeah?”
“Of course,” you agreed immediately, not understanding what a wildly stupid idea that was. That was fine - you would learn… and it didn’t take long.
That night at dinner, Alpha came in and sat across from you, but instead of starting the meal in silence, he leaned across the table slightly to get your attention. Lowly, he asked, “Are you still willing to help me with Dogma?”
“Yes,” you agreed simply. “Do you have a plan?”
“Yeah. Flirt with me.”
You fought not to react visibly to that. Carefully keeping your face blank and your voice flat, you replied, “What.”
He leaned even closer, eyes lit with excitement. “I’ve been threatening and trying to alienate Dogma all day, but the only time he was uncomfortable was when you flirted with him.”
“I didn’t flirt with him!” you reminded him. “I just said it was nice to meet him.”
“Fine,” Alpha conceded. “We’ll just have to do better than that if we’re going to convince him to leave me alone.”
Abruptly feeling like this was the worst idea anyone had ever had, you tried to speak in your own defense. “Alpha, I don’t think this is a good idea-”
“You said you would help me,” he reminded firmly. “He’ll be here in a minute. I need your answer.”
Your heart was pounding, one of many warnings that this was a bad idea, but you nodded anyway. Alpha smiled - he actually smiled - and the expression looked menacing on his face. “Good.”
In a moment, he had circled the table to sit beside you, his huge frame making you feel ridiculously tiny in comparison. He wasn't wearing any armor at all now, and you could feel the heat of his skin through what little space there was between you.
You tried not to obviously tense as he spoke next to your ear. "There he is, get ready."
Impossibly, Alpha managed to get closer to you, tugging behind your knee slightly so that you were angled toward him. When he had finished posing you, Alpha’s large hand lifted to cradle your face. His fingers brushed over your cheekbone before trailing down to your jaw.
"My little neverd," he murmured to you, face filled with affection.
You didn't have to feign embarrassment at the warmth in his tone matched with the intense eye contact he was giving you. When you replied, you tried not to sound squeaky but only managed to sound shaky instead. "You know Mando'a is my weakness."
He laughed, a low chuckle that sent delicious chills running over your skin. “Why do you think I use it?”
“Alpha…” you chided, managing to sound mildly flirtatious.
“Come on, little one,” he urged you, voice velvet in a way you hadn’t known it could be. “Let’s go back to your- Ah, one moment, neverd. Dogma, sit down.”
You looked over to see Dogma standing at the other side of the table. You had never even noticed, your entire focus narrowed down to Alpha. Dogma looked as embarrassed as you felt. While you were focused on Dogma, Alpha’s arm snaked around you, pressing against your waist to pull you flush against his side. Your face flamed and Dogma glanced away.
“Sir, I- I’m sorry, I forgot I’m on duty tonight,” Dogma muttered, speaking so quickly it was difficult to understand him.
“Sorry to hear that, cadet,” Alpha replied gravely, flexing his fingers against your side. It made you push a little closer to him in reflex, the tip of your nose brushing the space under his jaw as you tried to look up at him. Alpha shivered, and you weren’t sure how much of the motion was acting. “Maybe later.”
Dogma gave an awkward nod and hurried off.
Alpha started laughing even before he let you go, his muscular chest shaking against your shoulder. After a moment that felt like it had stretched an hour, he pulled his arm back and slid away a bit. You immediately felt the loss of his closeness and suddenly you were horribly uncertain of what expression you were wearing. Just in case it said more than you wanted it to, you looked back at the entrance of the cafeteria.
“I feel bad,” you admitted.
"Don't," Alpha advised, looking toward the door as well. “He’ll be fine. He’s a good soldier, just a little…”
He trailed off, apparently content to let his thought stay incomplete. You glanced over to him with an eyebrow raised, but his eyes were fixed on the door. “You can see every access point in the room from here.”
“That is why I chose this spot,” you agreed.
“Switch with me tomorrow.”
“Not a chance,” you refused. “This is my spot.”
“Then I hope you like sitting next to me,” Alpha told you. Surprised, you laughed up at him and he met your eyes. “You know, I’ve never seen anyone blush on cue.”
“Hidden talent,” you explained vaguely. Alpha didn’t seem convinced, so you changed the subject. “What does neverd mean?”
“Civilian.”
You laughed before you could stop yourself. “Civilian? That’s what you used as a term of endearment?”
Alpha blinked blankly at you. “What’s wrong with it? You are a civilian.”
“Yes, but,” you thought over it for a second, “-it’s not very romantic. Usually, people say things like ‘dear’ or ‘sweetheart’.”
“How should I have known that?” Alpha asked.
It was the ballgown situation all over again, and more than you were willing to tackle that day. “Well, some warning before you want me to go undercover would be helpful.”
Alpha snorted. “How much warning do you need?”
You pretended to consider that for a moment. “Two business days, minimum.”
He frowned fiercely. “If you get two full days of warning, I expect more. I need you to show up in a disguise with three different accents ready.”
“Harsh terms,” you told him with a smile. “With those negotiation skills, you’d make a great senator."
Alpha gave you the darkest scowl you had ever seen him muster. “Watch it, neverd.”
Idly, you wondered if Alpha would protect you from himself, but the amused glimmer in his dark eyes told you it would be unnecessary.
---
A/N - Pretty sure Broadside is wildly OOC, my bad. Also, sorry for the weird image for this chapter. I didn't really want the text bubbles in there, but I needed to keep Alpha's sassy hip lean.

Let Me Worship You: Part 1 - Zemo x Fem!Reader
The fact that this man is the one who dragged me out of my refusing-to-write-fanfiction grave and let me post old work while working on new stuff is...Impressive. Damn you Daniel Bruhl.
Tumblr media
Synopsis: With all the horrible things you had heard of Baron Helmut Zemo, you hadn't anticipated just how badly he wished to win you over. To a further extent, you certainly hadn't anticipated how tempting it would be to give in.
No bad NSFW this chapter - this is the lead up to the main course.
You were not an Avenger.
Unsurprising, really, given what you perceived to be your lack of talent and marketable super-heroine prowess, and so when Bucky called you up asking for a favour, you were pleasantly surprised.
You had only met Bucky on the rare occasion he let you help him, often expressing that he viewed you as a worrywart, a particularly bad day of his leading to him accusing you of trying to be his mother. He later apologized, hearing your explanation that you wanted to help in any way you could, and since you didn't have a superhero serum or fancy suit or arm, you relied on what you could - your mind and your giving nature.
He must have remembered this conversation, because he brought you with him and Sam to what appeared to be an underground parking garage.
"What're you talking about, you wanna break Zemo out of jail? Where the hell are we Buck? Have you lost your mind?!" Sam was raving as you followed behind the two men, silent as you stew over what Bucky had told you.
Babysitting duty.
You were effectively on glorified babysitting duty of an incredibly dangerous criminal.
"James..." you hesitated when he discussed this with you, how could you not? "I don't know how useful I'll be here."
"Very," he countered, his voice dull while his eyes were pleading. "Sam’s an Avenger, I have the serum. But you, you're just a person. Zemo will be less likely to hurt and immediately betray you because of that fact alone."
"He's killed people who've been in his way before. Normal people."
"He won't kill you. I'll make sure of that."
A heavy sigh escapes you as Sam and Bucky continue to bicker about the logistics of breaking Zemo out.
"I don't like how casual you're being about this, it's unnatural - and - where are we man?"
"I wouldn't mind an answer to that too," you supply, but any answer is interrupted by the sound of a door unlocking.
The three of you turn to approaching footsteps, and find no one other than Helmut Zemo striding towards you, dressed in a prison guard's uniform.
Sam responds immediately, arguing to throw him back in jail, while Bucky tries to calm him down. But you can't help but stare at the man before you as he removes the cap on his head, arms raised in an attempt to calm the men down.
"If I may" his voice rasped, but he was stopped short by Sam and Bucky in unison.
"NO!"
Zemo nodded, looking away almost sheepishly. "Apologies," came the quiet response.
If it were any other situation, you would have laughed - those two had the dynamics of a married couple and they couldn't stand each other. And for them to completely shut down the killer in front of them was...incredibly funny.
But you had a job to do.
As the boys continued to bicker, you took slow steps forward towards the man now looking you up and down, trying to place your part in all of this.
"Don't mind them," you spoke quietly, not wanting to distract Sam and Bucky, but still intending to speak with the criminal. "They're having some troubles in paradise. You must be Zemo."
His eyes take you in, a small smirk beginning to form. "So I must. May I have the pleasure of your name, Liebling?"
You offer your name hesitantly, and he repeats it back to you, as though he were sampling what it might taste like.
"Beautiful name, thank you." He turns to face the two men still arguing, not noticing your introductions. "I really think I'm invaluable..."
"Shut up..." Sam warned, before turning back to Bucky, looking between him and you.
You nod reassuringly to him - this is necessary, if the super soldiers are to be dealt with.
A sharp sigh leaves Sam. "Okay. If we do this, you don't make a move without our permission. And she is watching you every step of the way."
Bucky interjects. "And if anything happens to her, you're going to wish we left you in that cell."
Zemo nods, looking to you once again. "Fair."
You tilt your head slightly, unable to read his eyes as they examine you. You brush it off, chalking it up to him appreciating not being thrown back into a cell immediately. "Okay Zemo. Where do we start?"
*************************************
Zemo wasn't sure of what to make of you, he realized as you were on the jet to Riga.
You weren't an Avenger, you weren't a soldier, super or otherwise. You seemed to just be a person, one constantly offering her help where she could, even when it was to her own detriment.
He also took note of how rarely your help was appreciated or reciprocated.
You would offer help any moment you could, carrying supplies, offering to fetch food, simply offering and ear to listen. You were quick to attempt to smooth over Sam and Bucky's disputes, and you would play along with the role Zemo would assign you without much question - anything to help, you would say.
You were kind, he noticed as well. Smart, and shrewd, and clearly with trust issues, but you were kind and polite. You spoke with him as much as you might Sam or Bucky, you offered him your trust under the promise he would aide you find the super soldier serum. With your kindness, he thought it might be easy to manipulate you, to slip away from the group, maybe even to ask you to join him.
But there was an issue with his theory, he quickly noticed - any attempt to woo you, attract you, win you...didn't seem to work.
He hadn't been at the task long, mind you, but he had hoped you would be impressed with the jacket, the Baron title, the jet, the offer of wine. Instead, you simply seemed uncomfortable. Come Madripoor, you were happy to play the part of eye candy to escape much attention, yet when he offered you to keep the stunning dress, shoes, and jewelry ensemble you simply waved it off, claiming that you'd reimburse him if he insisted on you keeping it. You were happy to dance near him, unable to hide your laughter at his moves, yet he offered you a drink and you promptly declined, claiming it unnecessary.
Zemo's brow furrows as he observes you, awake and quietly reading as Sam and Bucky both sleep on the flight.
"What's your motive, Liebling?" he questions, and you glance up from your page.
"Don't tell me the criminal doesn't trust me," you respond wryly, turning your gaze back.
"No, I don't mean like that," he shifts, leaning forward to continue to observe the woman that was his guard. "I wonder what keeps you going. Some are motivated by riches, and dreams. Others from spite and anger. What do you want from life, my dear? What causes you to wake up in the morning?"
You pause, looking up to search his eyes to see where this question was coming from. You weren't sure what game he was playing, and you weren't sure how to answer him either. You eventually look back down to your book, a small smile playing on your lips.
"Nothing wakes me up in the morning, given I rarely get to sleep most nights."
His brows furrowed as she goes back to her pages, eager for the conversation to end. Her difficulty doesn't seem to be that he's a criminal - she's spoken plenty freely to him, she agrees to his plans...
The difficulty, he begins to realize with a smile. Maybe he's beginning to see what the difficulty is after all.
*************************************
You weren't sure what to make of Zemo, you think as you lie awake at night in the Riga safe house.
This criminal coming out of nowhere, apparently being rich as hell, so far doing nothing to cause you to believe he would betray you (yes, Sam and Bucky were shocked by his killing of Nagel, but really? You weren't shocked) ...but what shocked you the most was how badly he seemed to want to win you over.
You could justify it, sure. You're supposed to be his guard, he's likely trying to get you to let your guard down so he can escape. Yet when he's so charismatic, the way he holds himself, that voice...
Your eyes snap open sharply.
You were attracted to Zemo.
The man you're meant to be watching.
No, you told yourself. You're just lonely, and he's the first man offering you attention in a long time. It doesn't matter that his eyes examining you makes you blush, that you want to run your fingers through his hair, that a quiet voice your head wished that he would kiss you when he pulled you aside with one arm, other hand aiming at a pipe in Madripoor to blow up some poor saps...
It's the heat of the situation, you told yourself. Your options are Sam, Bucky, and Zemo...
Trust you to pick the worst option.
But how could you not, your mind whispers. When he danced like a goofball in a club your heart warmed. When he sat, filled with confidence and righteousness in the jet, legs splayed enough that you could perch on your knees in front of him, worship him, pleasure him. When he left the bathroom this morning in that damned robe, the deep V drawing your eyes down his chest before you could help himself.
You groaned. Of all the thoughts to keep you awake, why did it have to be your assignment on your mind?
It was too hot, your mind was swimming, you knew sleep wouldn't come soon.
And so, you stood, wrapping your arms around your book and padding downstairs in a loose t-shirt and shorts. Zemo had said that you were welcome to whatever resided within the safe house, and you were ready to take up his offer and steal a cup of tea.
You weren't expecting to find anyone else still awake. And yet, you weren't fully surprised to find Zemo sitting in the kitchen, bottle of whiskey at his side, a glass in his hand. He looks up at the sound of your footsteps, a soft smile on his face.
"Good evening, Liebling."
"Zemo. Can't sleep?"
"Unfortunately, not." He leans backwards slightly, examining you. "Another sleepless night for you as well."
"So it would seem."
You take a seat across the counter from him, not wanting to sit too closely to the man you were just fantasizing about. You were good at keeping a straight face, but you wondered if you got too close if he'd somehow be able to smell it on you.
He pushed his bottle forward, cocking an eyebrow at you.
"Drink?"
Your finger caresses the binding of your book as you hesitate to find the words.
"Actually, I had come down to make myself a cup of tea, if you don't mind."
Zemo's eyes lit up slightly, and he stood, motioning for you to stay where you were. "Allow me."
"You don't have to-" you begin to protest, but he's quick to cut you off.
"Please, Liebling, let me spoil you."
The heat that washes over you is clearly visible, if his chuckle is any indicator.
Silence falls and you quietly open your book as Zemo busies himself over the tea. In mere minutes a steeping mug is delicately placed in front of you. You smile graciously and nod, though you falter slightly as he doesn't return to the other end of the counter - rather, sitting on a stool right beside you, inquisitive eyes not leaving your face.
"Can I help you with something, Baron?" you question, taking the tea and blowing on it to cool it down somewhat. His eyes follow your movements, before travelling to meet yours again.
You could drown in those eyes -
"Day after day you offer your help, sarcastically or not," he begins, leaning forward slightly as he rests his chin on his hand, examining you. "Who offers help to the helper?"
You take a sip of your tea, tilting you head. "I don't know what you mean."
"Your refusal of my gifts, your reluctance to let me even make you a cup of tea - at first I wondered if it was in distrust of me, Liebling -"
"Well, you have killed people."
He quirks an eyebrow, and you motion for him to finish.
"I realize now it's because you're uncomfortable being cared for. You spend so much time looking after everyone else, you give no one the opportunity to worship you as you deserve."
You choked a bit on your tea at that.
"I don't know that I deserve to be worshiped, I just...exist. And do what I can to help others."
Zemo leaned forward further, slowly, so as to not push you away in result. "We haven't been acquainted for long, my dear, but from all I've seen from you with Sam, with James, and with an undeserving man such as myself...the strength in your soul and the empathy in your heart...It alone rises you so far above the men and women placed on pedestals because of their supernatural abilities."
You lean forward to match, but your eyes have steeled over. "Your sweet words won't make me let you go, Zemo. I won't betray Sam and Bucky."
He didn't miss a beat. "I should be so lucky to be held captive by you for eternity, Liebling. I don't ask you to betray your friends on my behalf."
"Then what do you want from me, exactly?"
You should be very afraid. The man who singlehandedly tore apart the Avengers is staring at you as if you were a last meal, his knees touching yours, his hand finding its way to lightly perch on your arm.
You should be afraid.
Yet despite your better judgement, you aren't.
"I want you to tell me every one of your desires, so I might fulfill them. I want to see you stand tall in the finest clothes money can buy, to whisk you away to Paris, Vienna, Rome, every beautiful local this world has to offer, local that pale in comparison to the beauty in front of me. I want you to let me bring you tea, wine, food, chocolates, and anything else that might please you. I want you to relax against me, to feel the tension you've had all mission to wash away in the most luxurious bath of your life, while I wash your beautiful hair, while I taste every inch of you."
His voice had dropped to nearly a whisper, and you couldn't stop yourself from leaning forward more to hang off his every word. "I'm not a stupid man. I know it's only a matter of time before I'm back in a prison cell of some kind. And even if I weren't, you may not believe the sincerity of my words. But tonight, little bird, I want you to let me worship you."
Your eyes fluttered as his hand reached forward to cup your cheek, thumb caressing over your bottom lip. You had the strength to look him dead in the eye with one final warning.
"If this is a trick of any kind, Zemo, I won't hesitate to let Bucky rip you to shreds."
The laughter that leaves him fans over your face, drawing your eyes to his lips.
"I'd expect nothing less, Liebling."
His eyes still search your face. A gentleman, you realize. He's waiting for permission.
You lean forward to close the gap, slowly letting your mouth brush over his, tasting him for the first time, as your hand raises to card through the locks of hair in his face. Your body thrums with anticipation of what's to come, with the anxiety that this may be a dangerous move, with pure, undiluted arousal from his words.
Yet you break away gently, both hands cupping his face now as he looks at you, curious as to why you stopped, pleased that his initial seduction worked.
Your hands slowly travel down to his own, and you stand, backing towards the way you came when you first gave up on sleep for the night.
"Come on then. You want to show me what being spoiled is like?"
A grin curls its way onto his face as he spins you in his arms, twirling you so that your back is against his front, his arms around you, his breath hot in your ear.
"Little bird, I'll give you everything you crave and more."

Tumblr media
[previous]                                                                                               [next]
“Hurry up! We’re going to be late!”
“Put that down, we have to go!”
“(y/n), didn’t you hear the news? There’s a special guest coming!” one of the girls grabbed you, trying to make you hurry to go somewhere. You were just as confused as some of the girls you were with.
“What’s going on?” you questioned. Everything was running around, the scene so hectic that you couldn’t wrap your head around anything that was going on.
“We don’t have time! Just, come on!” the girls grabbed you by the arm and rushed you into this big room where you usually greet your guests. A huge square table sat in the middle of the room with pillows neatly surrounding it to be used as seats. Small teacups were being set the moment you entered the room and the girls were getting adjusted to their positions. They were making sure that everyone was presentable: their clothes were neat and free from stains, their hair was up and neatly placed. They also made sure that everything in the room was in the right place, right where they should be. Two sets of tea pots were at each end of the table, ready to be served to the guests.
You were about to take your place in line, but one of the older servants took you to the side and make you stand right next to one of the teapot.
“Wha-” you were about to refuse this position, since it’s usually reserved for only the most deserving servants, but was quickly hushed.
“You’ll be serving tea to our special guests,” she quickly explained. “The princess specifically asked you.” God, why you again? As much as you didn’t want to, you didn’t have any room to argue. So you stood there, making sure that your uniform was on correctly and that not even a single piece of hair was misplaced on your head.
“They’re here! Places girls! Be on your best behavior,” the eldest servant ordered and she made herself comfortable in her place right by the double doors. The double doors opened and on cue, every single girl, including you, bowed their heads low to their special guests.
In came the princess first. Not much a surprise there. Without a word, she made her way to the middle of the table where she sat comfortably in her designated spot, purposely leaving a seat open right next to her. Right behind her, came her personal servants who stood behind her. Then, powerful footsteps walked into the room, their presence having an effect on everyone in the room. Their presence was so powerful that it send shivers down your spine. Who was this special guest that carried such a strong aura like that? The guest exhaled deeply, allowing a low growl escape. But something in that growl made your throat hitch and your heart stop. You knew that voice anywhere. But it couldn’t be…
“Presenting: Prince Bakugou Katsuki! We humbly welcome you to our kingdom,” one of the guards announced. They offered him a seat right across from the princess, his rightful fiancée. And he accepted reluctantly.
He sat down roughly and not so elegantly. A permanent scowl remained on his face and all the girls shook in fear. They expected the Blood Prince to cause great fear but experiencing it for the first time was frightening. But not to you. You knew it was all an act. But still, you heart was feeling heavy upon his arrival. You happened to glance up, just to get a quick glance. Was that really him? And sure enough. One leg was crossed while the other was propped up and he leaned back with such carelessness. He hadn’t seen you yet, which was a good thing. He didn’t need to know you were here. You bit your lip to try to hide any emotions peeking through. Taking deep breaths slowly in and out, you tried to regulate your emotions as best as you could.
The Prince’s soldiers traveled close behind him, taking a seat on both sides of their prince. Shit, now there was a higher chance that one of them was going to notice you. One of the ladies nudged you, snapping you out of your thoughts. She was giving you a stern look and moving her eyes to the teapot. Right, you had a job to do. You were too busy worrying about yourself that you forgot that you were the one supposed to be pouring the tea. And you were supposed to do that a while ago and the other girl was waiting on you since you both had to start at the same time.
Snapping out of it, you grabbed the teapot and began pouring tea for the special guests. Unlucky for you, you had to serve the side with Bakugou’s men. Which means that you were about to pour tea for Bakugou. But you weren’t ready to face him yet. The closer you got to him, the more your chest pounded out of nervousness.
It didn’t help that the first drink you poured was for him. He was the very special guest of the day, of course he had to be served first. As carefully as you could, and without sparing a glance at him, you kneeled down to level yourself before pouring the hot tea into his cup. You solely focused on the steaming liquid to further suspicion that you were there.
But Bakugou almost didn’t notice you. He wasn’t even going to look in your direction. But when he saw that fragile hand, he happened to glance up and he couldn’t believe his eyes. Bakugou had to take a doubletake at you. He thought his eyes had deceived him. But after a closer look, he was sure it was you. He felt like time had stopped and all he could hear was the rapid beat of his heart. You took away this breath, like you did every time. The way you looked so concentrated, the way your lips were slightly parted, eyebrows furrowed ever so lightly, eyes twinkling in the sun’s reflection. Breathtaking. Yet he didn’t say anything. He couldn’t say anything. All he could do was watch your every move. He watched as you moved from him to the other guests in the room, gently pouring the tea, careful not to spill a single drop.
You made your way around the room, not noticing the pair of crimson eyes on you. The other girl hadn’t made her rounds yet, which means the princess hasn’t been poured her drink. You took the liberty to continue on and be the one to serve her. As you kneeled down, carefully holding the lid to dispense the hot liquid, the princess side eyed you and smirked. With a swift nudge, her elbow came into contact with your body, causing you to jerk and accidentally spill the tea all over the princess’s expensive and one-of-a-kind dress. Your mouth hung open in disbelief and horror as you realized what you just did.
“I’m-” you began to apologize but you couldn’t finish because of her hand coming into contact with your cheek, a sharp and strong pain immediately took effect. You could already feel your cheek swelling up. The slap was so loud that it caused the whole room to be silenced and all eyes were on you.
“How dare you be so careless!” the princess scolded you, wiping away the excess water.
Bakugou’s eyes widened at the scene in front of him. Suddenly, he was seeing red and rage began to build in him. He put his strong hand on the table with great force and was about to stand up, but a hand stopped him. When Bakugou looked over with fury in his eyes, Kirishima was looking straight ahead, shaking his head.
It was a warning. If he knew what was best for you, then he wouldn’t react. He has to let it go for your sake. Or else you’d get it worse later. And Bakugou knew that. He knew that but… seeing that happen to you and not being able to do anything for you left a bitter taste in his mouth. So he sat back down, feeling useless.
The slap stunned you. You stood there frozen in place, not knowing what to do for a second. But the growing ache on your cheek made you snap out of it. It was your fault. Had you been paying more attention, you wouldn’t have spilled on the princess. Your mistake. Bowing your head apologetically, you retreated back to your place among all the other girls. Your cheek was burning from how hard she slapped you that you made a slight face of agony.
Bakugou saw this as he was still observing you. And it turned his mood even more sour, like it wasn’t sour already. He had to bite his tongue, no matter how badly he wanted to act out.
After that whole ordeal, you found out that the Prince was staying for a bit. You groaned to yourself and thought how much you wish it wasn’t true. Now you were going to be seeing more of him. Oh well, at least you don’t have to talk to him. You’re only serving him, like you should be as a servant. No more, no less. But you know you’re heart was going to break every time you were going to be around him. That part you weren’t looking forward to, but you didn’t have to look or speak to him.
You thought that you were being lowkey about avoiding the Blood Prince. None of the girls had asked you about your relationship with him ever since that first time, but there was one girl who paid a little bit more attention towards you. Her being one of your best friends.
She noticed that you were acting weird, purposely looking away from the Prince or whenever he comes up in conversation. You were avoiding him at all costs.
There were so many instances where you were in the presence of the great Prince, whether it would be serving him or passing by him, and his eyes were always on you. And only you.
You could be the one serving him tea and while his eyes were concentrated on you, you would be looking away. Anywhere but him. You would be one of the princess’s attendants while her and the Prince took a stroll in the garden. And the girls would be talking about them but you were silent the entire time, never looking in their direction. You would either be looking to the side or down at the ground. There are times when you and some of the other girls would be passing him by and you would quickly shut your mouth, looking down at the ground. Again, the Prince’s gaze was always on you. Something happened between you two while you were away on your failed mission and she wanted to get to the bottom of it.
The princess was also noticing what Bakugou was going and she was getting angry about it with every passing day. She wanted the Prince to look only at her, not some servant he happened to fall in love with. It was all your fault. She shouldn’t have sent you in the first place. She just didn’t want to get married! But after seeing who she was getting married to, now she couldn’t complain. He was too handsome to pass up, even if he had a bad attitude. Think. What could she do to punish you even more? Then it hit her. The princess smirked because she couldn’t wait to use her new toy on you.
Your friend had also noticed you were acting strange around the Prince’s soldiers. You would always try to avoid them as much as possible. But it was hard when they were staying close to the servants quarters.
You were on your way to do the laundry, hands full with a basket of clothes when you run into the Blood Prince’s trusted soldiers. You were already exhausted with the day’s events. Finally getting around to doing the laundry was your time to relax and have time for yourself. But that mood turned quickly when you saw that familiar red hair. Kirishima, Denki, Sero and Mina had all stopped in their tracks and you did the same. The feeling of shame hit you all over again, and you couldn’t look them in the eyes. You bowed to them, not saying anything and turned around with your basket of clothes. You were so close to the laundry pool. So, so close. It was literally right there. But you decided to take the longer route to the pool, to avoid any conversation or ridicule you would get from Bakugou’s soldiers.
But that wasn’t the case. Their hearts hurt, seeing your pained expression. You were hurt, confused, ashamed, humiliated. They could see it all. Mina wanted to go after you. She took one step but was stopped by Kirishima holding her arm back.
But-” Mina tried to argue but Kirishima gave her a stern look.
“It’s not our place,” he said and Mina backed down, regretfully. Kirishima looked off into the distance towards your direction and sighed. He wanted to talk to you, too. To comfort you. They all did. But they knew the only person who could, was Bakugou.
Kirishima had closed the shoji screen door behind him with a soft click. Bakugou was laying down on his side with one hand propping his head up and one leg bent in a comfortable position, all while fanning himself with a hand fan.
“Your Highness,” Kirishima bowed, greeting his long time friend.
“What is it?” Bakugou rudely asked. His temper had gotten out of control since you left. But the red haired wasn’t fazed at all.
“(y/n),” was all he said to make the Blood Prince halt his every movement. “She is at the river pool doing laundry, if you wish to see her.” Without hesitation, Bakugou stood up and stormed out of there, heading your direction. Instead of confronting you directly, he decided to climb the building and onto the plated roof that overlooked the river pool.
The laundry pool was outside, the water was steaming with hot water. You had taken your slippers off at the entry and walked along the wet, stoned path to get to the water. Several girls were there, also doing their share of the laundry, but you had gotten there pretty late. That was mostly because you were still tending to the princes. One by one, they were on their way back to the servant’s quarters, leaving you alone. Which was okay, because you needed some alone time.
Little did you know, you weren’t actually alone. Bakugou was watching your every move. From how your wash and beat the laundry to you wiping your face, hissing at the pain that was still on your cheek. Bakugou was feeling many mixed emotions at the moment. His heart leapt at the sight of you, but was also heartbroken because of what you did. He didn’t know if he could forgive you but he fucking missed you. He missed you so much. There was never a moment where you weren’t running around in his mind. When he saw how much pain you were in, he had to restrain himself from jumping down there to see if you were okay. Before it got too much for him, he forced himself to leave.
Laundry was exhausting for sure. It was time consuming and required a lot of energy. But it was so late and no one around you, so you took your time wringing and flattening the clothes. No one could bother you. No one could talk to you. You were left to be distracted by your own thoughts. This was probably your favorite time of the day because it was so relaxing. You had saw movement out of the side of your eyes but when you went to look, there was nothing there. You looked again, and nothing.
“Huh,” you shrugged to yourself. You must have imagined it because you were so exhausted.
On your way back, you sighed with fatigue, your back aching from bending down all day. You couldn’t wait to finally hit your not-so-soft bed and turn in for the night. But someone had taken your hand and pulled you aside. It was your best friend who was keeping tabs on you this whole time.
“Okay, spill,” she ordered, hands crossed against her chest.
“What are you talking about?” you asked, confused.
“What really happened to you when you were with the Prince?” she asked and your face dropped. All of a sudden, now she wants to ask this? Did she find something out? Did someone snitch? But who? She could see the panic in your eyes and sighed.
“You’ve been acting really weird lately. Ever since the Prince showed up. I know you haven’t been 100% truthful. So what happened between you two?” she asked. You didn’t even have to say anything and she could tell. It was all in your eyes.
“You’re in love with him?” she whispered and you bowed your head in shame. “You know you’ll never be together, right? You’re just a servant. Born a servant and will always be a servant. What were you thinking?”
“Yeah, I don’t know what fairy tail I was living in,” you admit.
“Well snap out of it. You might get us all in trouble if you keep that up,” she said before taking her leave.
She was right. Any sane person could see that a Prince, soon-to-be King, would never be with someone of her status. It was a mistake to fall for him. You knew that from the very beginning. Yet… every time you saw him, your heart wanted to burst with happiness. You wanted to be wrapped in his embrace. Feel his lips against yours. You wanted to fall asleep and wake up next to him every morning. You wanted to tell him silly food puns at every chance you got. You wanted to go another hot spring with him, this time without the monkey. You wanted to continue to help those helpless people around his kingdom. You saw a future with him. But that very image crumbled before your very eyes and you were left with nothing. Because like your friend said, you were a servant, nothing more, nothing less.
A/N: I'd love to know your thoughts and if you would like to be added on the tag list! When will (y/n) get a break? Next chapter? mmmmmmmmmmmmmm probs not!

Tumblr media
The big, round eyes you once swore would be green turned out to be blue.
And they were so eager to leave you and be a man.
It was the hardest choice you’d ever made, allowing your son to leave the village and join the cadet corps. It was what he seemed to want, so so desperately. You couldn’t tell if he wanted it as much as he wanted to follow Eren Jaeger and the Mikasa girl. Both were pleasant enough children. They stood up for your Armin more than enough times to be allowed in your household. You didn’t mind if they both showed up unannounced to take Armin on an adventure or even to eat dinner and spend the night.
Carla was a sweet enough woman who seemed to have the same concerns for Eren that you had for Armin. She wanted them to be friends and be normal children that didn’t have to worry about death and disease. It was a common scene for Carla to walk Eren and the young girl to your house with a freshly baked cherry and butter pie, made from the fresh picked cherries in the shared village orchard.
Hosting the two children was never an issue. You liked having the house filled. The boys even seemed to get Mikasa on her feet, running around and doing some sort of adventure.
Armin’s wide, blue eyes always taunted you, taunting the color green you’d imagined they’d be.
Armin had grown up to be a better young man than you could have ever hoped for. He was a sweet young boy who enjoyed his studies and never forgot his mother’s birthday. He never argued, never disobeyed, (though you like to think he naturally agreed with your set of rules).
It was one evening that he’d burst into a fit of yelling and crying when he broke the blue, crystal vase that had been your obvious favorite piece of decorum in the house. He was a smart child. He noticed how you doted on your vase. It was always filled with fresh flowers, always dusted and cleaned, and never moved from the spot on the credenza in the center of the living space.
You felt a strange sadness as you swept the pieces of thin glass up. You did your best not to let it show. Seeing Armin blubber and apologize profusely with bleeding palms from where he’d tried to mend the vase back together was a sore sight. You weren’t angry. You assured your son as much, holding him and assuring him it was only a ‘thing.’
But you cried that night in your small cot, when you were sure that he’d fallen fast asleep in his own room.
Tears were never a stranger to your household.
You were familiar with them, as you had been all your life.
You’d burst into hysterical tears when, one day, the dishes shook off the counter, clattering and crashing to the floor like an earthquake. You knew like you knew the sky was blue that there were titans. Invasion was on your mind since you’d left the Interior, but you never suspected it would be this way.
You raced to the city square to find Armin. Your boy was with Eren and Mikasa somewhere. But he was small, and tender, and he could be hurt. Your heart fell at the sight of any blond head in the nearest proximity of danger. When you found your boy, you scooped him into your arms, and you ran like you’d never run before.
It was only at the safety point when you’d set Armin down and spoke. You examined him for wounds, asking if he was alright in a straight voice while tears streamed down your face.
It was the beginning of a cruel five years. Eren Jaeger and Mikasa had become your newest children. You cared for them as best as you could. Your discreet funds of money that was stored in banks all across the walled lands did a good job of keeping you all safe and protected. You lived with Armin and the kids for seven months at the new house. It was considerably smaller, but everyone had their own bed, and they never had to worry about food being on the table.
Eventually, the time came for the children to make their choice. You’d sensed it coming from a mile away. How could you not? They were not slick. Eren spoke loudly in the nights about his plan for vengeance and justifying poor Carla’s death. And where Eren would go, Mikasa would. Then Armin would be following close behind, only stuttering when he had the least bit of hesitation.
It was easily, without a doubt, the hardest choice you’d made in your entire life to give Armin your blessing. Even after all he’d been through...he still wanted his mother’s approval.
The time came to leave the children. Their enlistment was eagerly accepted. It wasn’t assuring how quickly they’d been enrolled and cataloged. You knew that the regiments were looking to fill the mass gaps of dead soldiers.
The days of an empty house passed to months. Those winded into years.
You made the three beds every week, re~fluffing the pillows and shaking off the dust. If any of them ever wanted to come back home, you’d have to make sure they had a clean, comfy bed.
It was the motherly part of you that wished for any of them to knock on that door. Where one went, the other two followed, like the stars followed the moon.
Some days you thought of Armin. Armin, the departed husband that is. What a jovial man. You missed him often. He would have approved of the life you’d built. He would have liked Armin, the younger. He might have had better furniture choices.
Letters weren’t enough to keep you from losing your mind. The years just kept adding on, leaving you to wonder what the future held. But one particular letter caught your attention, signed and sealed with the Scout regiment’s signet. Commander Erwin called for an immediate family reunion at one of the safe castles. It would happen while it still could.
Oh, what a relief, you’d thought. You practically threw your clothes in a traveler’s case and took all the paths you could to the castle.
It was clearly a rare occasion. Several wagons and carriages were offering rides to the castle, and every passenger was a parent, aunt, or uncle, with the occasional younger siblings of the other cadets. You hadn’t considered it before, but you’d realized that you weren’t just going to see your son. You were filling the roll as a parent for two others.
Every passenger had a story to tell about their children. You all bonded on the journey with the shared thought, is their child friends with mine? Did they cry together? Train together?
One mother expressed how badly she’d hoped it would be an annual event. Soldiers hardly got leaves of absence. Who knows when you could see your child again?
The last of the wagons rolled up to the castles grandiose pathway. It was quite overgrown with shrubbery, but the look it gave was stupendous. You’d wondered if such a look could be mimicked by growing your own plants at home.
The thoughts vanished as the soldiers were brought out to the courtyard, lining up to find their family.  You stood patiently. You waited for the familiar trio to appear. They wouldn’t be the exact same. You caught yourself watching for small children. Everyone here were soldiers, the real kind, albeit most being cadets. You anxiously watched. You tried not to think, “What if they’re dead?”
You’d gotten a letter from all three at least a month ago. And there was no issue of death from the corps. Still, the thought lingered.
You swayed in the breeze, smoothing your dress as you tried to remain patient.
“Mother?”
Your heart dropped into your stomach when you heard the familiar voice call out to you. You looked around, trying to pinpoint the voice from the crowd. You were hardly able to take a good look when you were rushed by two muscular figures. They both pounced on you, pulling you into a giant hug and delightfully exclaiming something you didn’t understand from your heart beating loudly in your ears.
“Oh, Mother,” Armin said into your head, kissing the top of your hair. He was tall.
He held onto you longer than Eren did, who had pulled back and looked down at you with a gleeful smile.
“You’re both so...tall,” you exclaimed as you pulled away to look at them both. Armin was tall and slender, but his shoulders were broad. His blond hair was clean cut to his chin as it had always been. He was always a neat person. You imagine he would be keeping up with his routine hair trims as usual.
Eren stood even taller than Armin, if that’s possible. His unruly brown hair was wavy and too long, as if he didn’t care to cut it when it grew to the tops of his ears. His shoulders were twice as broad as Armin’s, and you could see even under the uniform he’d grown quite muscular. It figures. With him being a titan, and all, it makes enough sense that he’s muscular.
It’s the first time you’d seen Eren in person since learning via letter he was one of the first of what Armin dubbed a ‘shifter.’ You tried not to let the thought show on your face. Besides, no one here seems to be giving him a hard time.
You couldn’t help but feel the tears form along your eyelashes like dew drops on a spider’s web. You had once held that little blond boy close to your chest, telling him how he had made you the happiest you’d ever been.
You meant it, and you mean it now. You couldn’t help but sniffle at the thought of your little boy all grown up.
Eren laughed while Armin smiled bashfully. “Oh, mother, there’s no need to cry,” he said, bringing you close for another hug.
You wiped your eyes with your thumbs, trying not to embarrass Armin further. “Well, young man, where is that sister of yours?” you asked Eren.
Eren’s gleeful smile faltered just slightly. “She’s not feeling well. She decided to use the day off and catch up on some rest. But she’ll join us for dinner.”
You couldn’t imagine the pain she’d be feeling right about now. It’s no surprise that she’d not felt up to the task of greeting a mother that wasn’t even her own.
Even in Eren’s eyes-who was doing his best to be strong-had a distant sort of grief that lingered in his eyes, especially at the sight of you adjusting Armin’s clothes.
“Mother, I’ll show you to your room,” Armin said, linking his arm in yours. You fondly accepted Eren’s offer to link your other arm in his own. You asked the boys thousands of questions, intently enjoying their answers.
The castle towered tall above you, the rooftops that arched up being blushed with the shadows of the bushy tree tops. You were only one of the many mothers being escorted gently through the vast castle built with limestone that was polished down to perfect edges. Parents and siblings were being taken on grandiose tours, all while being hugged and pulled by their solider children.
“This is where the survey corps lives?” you asked. Armin nodded ambitiously, a smile curved wide on his mouth. “We move around sometimes depending on where we’re being deployed, but this is where we usually are.”
“It’s huge!” you awe. The castle seemed ancient. Every turn had a piece of character that felt ageless and wiser beyond even your own years. Thought vast, the castle was well kept. You couldn’t find a single cobweb, even if you wanted to.
“Tell me about it,” Eren groaned as he touched his forehead. “It’s a real bitch to clean.”
You looked at the boy in shock, your mouth open. “Why, Eren, where have you heard such language?”
Eren looked to Armin for help as he floundered for an answer. He couldn’t quite form one, so his mouth contorted uneasily. “I-Well I mean...I...I’m sorry.”
You playfully told him you’d allow it this once.
You felt so happy to see the two boys grown and healthy. Armin’s soft hands had doubled in size. He once had such chubby, little hands that gripped your finger tightly for comfort. Always sticky, even one thumb tucked in his mouth.
Though his face was the same, he looked so different in every other aspect. But, this thought was comforted by the matter of Armin being the same in personality as he has always been. He still wore the little timid smile of someone bursting to the seams with words he wants to share. He always has something interesting on his mind. His intelligence had even taken you aback when he was a child. He certainly didn’t get that from you.
You figured it was a trait inherited by his birth mother or his biological grandfather. Truthfully, those are the only relatives of his that you know. After adopting him, you tried to dig up more information about his family. You would have liked for him to have the answers to the questions he’d one day ask.
“Walk faster,” Eren said in an urgent voice.
“Oh, God,” Armin said under his breath. “Let’s go back that way.”
The two young boys-young men- were now trying to steer you in a jarring direction. “What’s wrong?” you asked, starting to pull your arms away from them.
“Mom, he’ll see us!” Armin urged you in a loud whisper, attempting to push you into walking.
“It’s too late, he’s coming,” Eren said in a stiff voice. “We can’t-He’s looking right at me. He’s looking right at me!”
“Who’s looking at who?” you asked desperately trying to understand.
“At ease, cadets,” a smooth voice said. It came from the figure you finally spotted striding towards you, encased in a not so tall, but lean figure. “I presume this is Mrs. Arlert?”
The words struck you in the chest. Armin’s face became screwed and red as he looked down at his feet. “That’s not her name, captain,” Armin quickly said. “But yes, she is my mother. Y/n L/n.”
You didn’t let the hurt bleed into your expression. “I am Armin’s mother. It’s wonderful to meet you. What’s your name?”
“Levi Ackerman, ma’am,” the man said, holding out a hand to shake yours. You realized why the boys had wanted to run away. The famed captain Ackerman was mentioned in plenty of your letters from all three of the children, even Mikasa’s. Though Mikasa mentioned him only when she asked for favors for you, namely ancestry research. She wanted to know if she could be related to the man at all, since she’d never met any other person with the name. While your efforts proved weak, she’d appreciated the attempt.
Meanwhile, Eren and Armin mostly wrote about the man to complain. He was mean, you’d heard. Stern and, as Eren put it, “A major jerk.”
The captain Ackerman doesn’t leave me side; ever. I’d say he’s obsessed with me, but I know it’s because he doesn’t trust me. My power is one that has to be heavily monitored. I wish it didn’t have to be this way. I wish that, at least, my supervisor could be someone nicer. Someone taller, at least, so I don’t have to look down all the time. It’s strange to be chewed out by someone two heads shorter. Note, auntie, this is an estimate.
You shook the captain’s calloused hand. It was a stark difference from the curtseying and bowing from when you were among the society in the interior. The thought of a woman shaking a man’s hand without wearing a glove was ghastly; it was intimate. This part of etiquette was so deeply engrained in your mind that you blushed at the feeling of the captain’s skin against yours.
It was enough to keep you from thinking about Armin.
You’d given him the information about his true name just in case he ever wanted, or needed, to use it. You didn’t expect him to ever go by it. It did hurt, though, to think of your boy being Armin Alert, and not Armin L/n.
“I can easily see where Armin gets his grace,” the captain said in a smooth, deep voice, looking almost proudly to Armin.
Eren looked shocked at your left side, and even Armin’s mouth fell agape. “Your son is quite the tactician,” the captain continued.
You chuckle. “He certainly is. Armin’s been impressing me with his brain since he was a baby.”
Armin laughed nervously. “Mother, we don’t need to share that,” he said in a shy voice. You couldn’t help but continue to gush. You rarely bragged about your child, mostly because your neighbors at home had lost their children and it was a sore subject to speak of.
“Well, captain, I’ve heard so much about you,” you said, offering the man a warm smile. He was awfully handsome with his dark hair that grazed the edges of his jaw.
“If I had realized I’d meet the beautiful famed mother, I would have dressed for the occasion,” Levi said with a remarkably steady voice. You felt your cheeks rush with warmth while Eren forced a loud, awkward cough. It sounded as though he was hacking up a piece of his lung. “We’d better get aunt Y/n to her room, ey Armin?”
“Yeah,” Armin said in a short voice. “I mean yes! Yes, yes, we-yes. She’s tired.”
“She’s exhausted,” Eren added, holding his hands over your shoulders and massaging them for good measure. You raised your eyebrows.
“She’s also so hungry,” Armin added loudly. “She’s starving.”
“There’s a buffet going in the mess hall until mid noon,” Levi suggested. “And then tomorrow there will be a large breakfast party.”
You looked at your son with a teasing look of shame. “Why, you boys never mentioned a party. I would have brought my good dress.”
“As if you’d need a good dress,” Armin teased. “We can go out to town. There’s going to be available transportation all day for your visit. It’s very exciting. I’ve even been dismissed from my chores!”
Eren sent a small glare to the captain. “I wasn’t dismissed from my chores,” he grumbled.
“Unfortunately, Jager, you’re one of my favorite cadets. I just can’t spend a minute without you,” the captain said humorously. It made you laugh, to Eren’s horror. “I hope to be seeing you again during your stay, Missus L/n.”
“Oh, it’s just Miss, captain. I am widowed.”
Armin took a pause in his breath. “...Widowed?”
You realized then that you slipped, too. “Unmarried, I meant,” you corrected yourself, albeit too late.
You could see that even Levi knew the well intended flirting was over. Clearly you and your son had things to talk about, and soon. The matter of the surname would likely not compare to Armin’s questions, especially considering that you never spoke of your old life, or your family (this very well may be the reason Armin chose to use his other name in the first place).
“It was a pleasure, Miss,” the captain said before taking a small bow and walking away. You didn’t have time to notice that the bow was not common for people beyond the interior. “I’m going to go meet Connie’s family,” Eren said calmly, though you felt is was more directed to Armin than you.
“I’ll be seeing you soon, Eren,” you softly bid the boy as he prepared to walk away, leaving his best friend to the awkwardness that would ensue.
You looked up at your son with half a smile; he looked uncomfortable. Your boy was doing that thing he did when he was too afraid to say or admit something--he rubbed his palms together nervously, as if he were trying to start a fire. “I’m not angry with you,” you told him before you said anything else. “You don’t have to explain anything to me,” you added.
“I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings,” Armin explained, sounding shaky as he averted his eyes to the floor. “You haven’t told me anything about your family. Your life couldn’t have started only when I was adopted. I just-I just want to know my history.”
You took a breath. “My days living in the Interior were not something I enjoyed. It was a vastly different lifestyle that I did not enjoy, and likely couldn’t ever enjoy again. Yes. I was married. To a man also called Armin. The marriage was arranged, and he and I held no romantic feelings for one another.”
“Did you have children with him?” Armin asked, his voice quiet.
“None, my love,” you assured him, wishing you could just stroke his hair and cuddle him tight like you did during his infancy. “I am so sorry that I haven’t...That I have failed to be more forthright with you.”
Armin failed so say anything. He stood motionless. “May you please not flirt with Captain Ackerman again?” he finally said, looking exasperated.
Your eyes widened. “O-Oh. I’m so so sorry, honey, I just-You-Of course. I swear to not flirt with anyone. Although, I can’t say that I started that. Rather, you should tell the captain not to flirt with your mother again.”
Armin went beet red in the cheeks. “You can’t just tell the captain what and what not to do, mother,” he said in a low and eerie voice; it was as if someone had made such a mistake before, and Armin had witnessed the consequences first hand.
“Armin,” you said quietly.
“I mean it, mother, he once kicked Eren in the face!” Armin went on to exclaim.
“My dear, I could care less about the captain,” you tell your son firmly. “I admit that I was surprised to hear that you use your biologicals name. And for a split second, it did hurt. But, you are your own person. You have been through things grown men haven’t seen. I am so proud of you. No matter what name you go by, you will always be my dear son. I will always love you with all my heart.”
Armin’s eyes softened, and the corners of his mouth turned into a dimpled smile. “I love you, too, mother,” he said. He brought you close for a hug. He kissed the top of your head as you had always done to him during his youth.
Some things were bound to never change.
Armin would always be your intelligent, kind hearted, good tempered son. When he walked, you could only see his toddling down the hallways of your old home. When he laughed, it reminded you of his gasping giggles as he was fondly amused by something some insignificant.
Armin linked his arm with yours one more time. “Let’s get to your room, now,” he said with a happy grin.

“What the hell happened?” Rhodey demanded after a few moments of awkward silence after Steve had stormed out.
Happy had closed the door after Steve, also looking at Tony now with expectation for an answer.
“Nothing,” Tony said aggressively, pushing the reactor and the suit began retracting.
“Nothing? You don’t get to cause that uproar here in the facility and then not give any of us an answer—” Rhodey started to argue.
“Who’s in charge here?” Tony interrupted him shortly.
Rhodey shook his head, “Tony, that’s not fair. And you know it.”
“Life isn’t fair,” Tony quipped, walking over to his desk to snatch up his phone. He began texting quickly.
“If something is going on between you two, the rest of the team deserves to know! Especially since you’re pulling the ‘who is in charge’ card. That’s the two of you!” Rhodey said. “You manage a lot of people and factions are not what the operation needs to function properly.” He stepped closer and continued, “It’s her isn’t it? Heard pregnancy test and that’s not hard to deduce why both of you would be concerned about that.”
Tony was scrolling through his phone, not answering Rhodey.
Irked, Rhodey pressed, “I don’t know why the two of you thought sharing was going to work out. You are both hardheaded, sons of—”
“Rhodey, if you’re going to continue nagging at me like an old lady, please just leave. I’m busy,” Tony interjected again, distracted still.
“No! You need to be open!” Rhodey shouted, finally fully catching Tony’s attention. Happy rose his brows in surprise at his boldness. “You two just almost plummeted each other.”
Tony ground his teeth, staring Rhodey down. Exhaling sharply, he finally said, “Fine. Yes. You’re right. Her. And you know, everything was going fine before Steve started having his martial problems. And he started playing fast and loose with Y/N’s safety. He brought her on a mission a couple of days ago – with Bucky and Sam, mind you, so they’re also on my shit list – using her as a pawn and she had no idea what was going on. He left her on a boat with Qian and Perez. Got her caught it the middle of the crossfire, so that was a fun clean up job for me.” That was shock to Rhodey and Happy, both of them caught off guard. “So, yeah, I’m a little fucking piqued, you could say. He’s spiraling because of things at home.” He paused for a beat before sighing, “And he was fucking with her birth control. So, hey, I might be a dad. Again. Even if I didn’t want that.”
Tony all but collapsed into his chair behind his desk, tossing his phone down on the desk. “I don’t know if I should move her. I told him to stay away, and he lured me away and snuck in there and took her. He has a key.”
Rhodey was silent for the first time in the conversation but Happy offered, “It might be for the best.” Tony turned his attention to him and Happy continued, “If you are really worried about it. Removing temptation… sometimes that is the best medicine.”
<><><>
“Let’s go,” Steve said shortly, coming into the locker room. He threw open his locker and reached inside for the freshly washed uniform.
“What the hell happened?” Sam demanded, seeing how disheveled Steve was. He was fresh out of the shower after having done an intense work out.
“Nothing. I’m gonna get suited up and start working. Are you going to join?”
“What do you mean ‘nothing’? Your chin is cut up and—”
Steve barked, shutting Sam up, “I said nothing happened, Sam!” He tossed his suit on the bench behind him and began working at the buttons on his three piece to get undressed.
Sam stood up, gripping at the towel around his waist, staring Steve down. He glared as Steve tossed his suit jacket onto the bench and ripped his tie off. Steve noticed his glare and his hands began to falter under the intensity until they slowly fell. His dress shirt was unbuttoned, and his belt undone.
Evenly, Sam asked, “What happened? What is going on?”
Steve sighed heavily, his hands coming to his hips, head hanging. He was quiet for a few moments, breathing deeply. His voice was quiet when he admitted, “Tony and I got into it. Badly. Right in his office. I… he pissed me off and I just saw red. He hit where he shouldn’t have and he did it on purpose to get a rise out of me. And I fell for it. Like a fucking idiot.” He rubbed at his face. “I don’t know what to do.”
“Take a step back.”
“It’s not as easy as that, Sam!”
“I mean from work. Take some time. You don’t need to throw yourself into this just to escape whatever is happening. Take a step back from work and focus on the shit in your personal life.”
Steve chewed on his lip before saying quietly, “You’re right.” He nodded this time and repeated, “You’re right. I… I need…”
Sam cut in, picking up his slack. “You need to do what’s best for you and your wife. That’s what’s important.”
Steve nodded again. Sam was not privy to his relationship with Y/N. All he knew was she was a prostitute that Steve visited sometimes. But he was right on one thing; he did want his relationship better with his wife. And right now, that was something that was going to be easier to control than his relationship with Y/N.
<><><>
Sitting at the table, eating lunch, you heard voices outside the hall coming closer and you put your fork down. The front door opened, and Tony walked in, followed by a handful of men. Luna booked it from her cat tower down the hallway towards the bedroom at the crowd. You stared at them confused as Tony was giving them directions about what to pack together. You spotted a few bringing in copious amounts of broken down moving boxes, carrying packing tape.
“Bedroom things first. That’s the most important. She needs somewhere to sleep obviously. The bed is easily broken down. The tools for it… I think are in the top drawer of the nightstand on the far side of the bed by the window. I made sure it would be nearby,” Tony was telling a few of them. He had failed to look or notice you at the table, sitting there bewildered. “I saw the cat run down there, so close the door when you go in. She’ll probably run into the closet if she’s under the bed. I just want her corralled and out of the way of everyone else. Do not – and I repeat, do NOT – let her out! We’ll get her into the cat carrier after everything is packed up. And you all are in charge of making sure that bed is ready to go at the new condo.”
New condo?
He turned towards a few more of them and said, “Start breaking down the living room.” To the last couple, he said, “The bathroom. Be sure to properly label everything.”
Tony finally laid eyes on you and walked over to the kitchen table, pulling out his cell phone. “How are you doing, love?”
“How am I… what is happening?” you inquired.
“You’re moving,” Tony informed you, texting.
The men were already setting to work, and you moved your gaze around the apartment in disbelief. Who were these guys and what in the actual fuck was going on?
“Why?” you asked confused.
“Because. I found somewhere better priced.”
“Where?”
“Carnegie Hill.”
That was his neighborhood. He had told you that before, to your immense surprise, giving away his home location. But he had – as you suspected – started trusting you more in recent months. Why was he moving you closer to his family? And especially in that neighborhood? Cheaper? You were hard pressed to believe that bald-faced lie.
“You found something cheaper there than this?” you asked him, completely disbelieving.
“Yep,” Tony told you curtly, still not looking up from his phone. “A nice condo. Nice dropped living room and dining room. Iron work looks great.” You were staring at him intensely as he clicked away on his phone. He felt the burn of your stare and looked up. “What?”
Exasperated you threw your hands out, “What… Tony! I’m just sitting here eating lunch and all these people are in here now and just packing up my stuff! And you’re telling me I’m moving!”
Tony exhaled sharply, tossing his phone onto the table as he pulled out a chair beside you and sat down. Leaning in close he said, “You’re moving closer to me. It’s easier.”
“Easier?”
“Better,” he offered.
“Why? So I can run into your wife into one of the coffee shops and she can maul my face there?”
Tony’s expression was hard, and you really could not give a shit less. You had already told him how you felt about being in close proximity with her.
“First off, Alessia does not go get her own coffee. She sends people for that, Or she has the maid make it for her in her French press. Hell would freeze over the day she was asked to stand in a line and agree to it,” Tony started out, his tone tight. “And secondly, only I will have a key to the place.”
Reality set in on what he was doing. He was leaving Steve out. Did Steve even know this was going on? The memory of Tony last night telling you that he loved you outright flashed through your mind. He had been furious when he had learned what Steve had done to you. A wedge had been driven between them at your expense.
“So, yes, easier. And better,” Tony clipped, leaning away from you again, keeping his gaze fixated on you for a few more moments before tearing it away. He picked up his phone again and unlocked it. “Finish your lunch. You don’t have to lift a finger for this. They’ve got it covered. All we gotta do is get Luna into a carrier. And that’ll be easy, right?”
You were at a loss for words. What if Steve came looking for you? How angry was he going to be when he realized that you were no longer here? And would he think it was you that had asked Tony to move you? You had so many questions.
Tony picked up your fork and held it out to you. “Eat, love. Just relax. I’ve got it covered.”
Timidly, you reached out and took the fork from him, and he visibly relaxed of the tension in his body. You stuck your fork into your rice and took a bite, watching the men working warily.

Steve kissed up Cecile’s abdomen, his trail leading between her breasts and up to her lips. She smiled against his lips as he entered her slowly. They rocked together in tandem, coming down together. Steve held her close and whispered in her ear, “Let’s take a few days. You and me. Maine?”
“Seclusion is always nice,” Cecile told him, pecking him on the nose, causing Steve to smile.
“Right on the sea?” Steve questioned, holding her close, cognizant of her swollen abdomen.
Cecile traced his face and said, “You know what I like.”
“That I do,” Steve returned softly. He kissed her deep and relished in feeling like they were truly close again.
<><><>
You had just gotten out of the shower to wash the chlorine off of you. One of the perks of the new condo was the pool. You enjoyed doing laps and the hot tub afterward. Sitting in a robe, you picked up the remote and turned on the TV. Choosing a show, you unwrapped the popsicle you had taken out of the fridge.
The familiar sound of the key in the door echoed and you did not bother to move, knowing the only one who would be coming in was Tony. You had been here for a week and had finished rearranging all of your things in the new layout a couple days ago. Thankfully, Luna had adjusted and loved the window beds on the large windows, giving her access to watch out over the street.
He was dressed down – unusual for him. And he looked nervous, and you were on edge immediately just as you had been when he had looked that way sitting in the living room when you had come home from the gym.
“What?” you asked him reluctantly.
He said nothing. He held a bag out to you, and you stared at him for a moment before you opened it, peaking in.
Your stomach dropped, seeing another pregnancy test.
“Why are you making me do this? For real this time?” you asked him seriously.
He licked his lips and sat down stiffly on the opposite end of the couch. He was refusing to look at you, his elbows resting on his thighs, hands clasped. “I… you need to do it.”
“Why?” you pressed.
“Because. You… you might be pregnant.”
Shaking your head, you told him, “I already took a test. Less than two weeks ago!”
“Have you missed a period?”
“I rarely bleed,” you countered.
“That makes it even more important that you take the test then.”
“Why are you so concerned about this?”
Tony exhaled sharply, hanging his head. He was silent for a few moments, the suspension in the room thick. His voice was brittle, “You weren’t protected. For over a month. December and January, respectfully, between the two.”
You gaped at him. Stammering, you asked, “W-what are you talking about?”
He looked resistant to speak but he shook his head, “Steve.”
“Steve, what?” you asked dangerously.
“He told me at the beginning of January that he had been fucking around with your birth control. Giving you placebos.”
You felt like you had been kicked. Your fingers grasped tighter onto the paper back, it crinkling in your hand. The silence in the room was deafening; Tony refusing to look at you made it even worse.
If what he was saying was true, Steve had betrayed you beyond belief. You had thought his actions at the docks were the lowest he could go but apparently, he was determined to prove you wrong. And for what? To lock you down further?
“Why?” you rasped.
Tony shrugged, “I don’t know. Really. He… he’s having problems. At home, with his wife, I mean.”
“And? Getting me pregnant was going to solve that?”
“No,” Tony gave a dry laugh, shaking his head. “No, it wouldn’t have solved it. He’s… he’s not thinking straight. That has been made noticeably clear.”
“You knew?” you asked quietly. And he finally looked at you, shame etched into his features. “When you asked me to take the first test?”
His answer hit you like a ton of bricks. “Yeah, I did.”
“And you didn’t say anything?” you asked breathlessly.
“You… you were negative. And I was just going to let it rest and move on. No purpose of drawing up drama when it didn’t need to be drawn up.”
“I trusted you,” you half gasped, getting up from the couch.
Tony followed your movement, half stumbling around the opposite side of the couch to chase after you as you clutched the bag close to your chest. He quickly dove into excuses, “I mean it when I said I thought it should stay buried. As long as it was okay. To save you from that stress. And I thought Steve could get his head on straight. But then he went and proved me fucking wrong. So wrong. And that’s why I moved you. He doesn’t know where you are. I’m not going to let him around you. Not until he can prove he has himself set straight again. And if that never happens, then you don’t have to see him again!”
He sounded so desperate for you to forgive him, thank him for what he was doing.
Swallowing sharply, you put up a wall. Coldly, you told him, “I have to go do this.” You tapped the bag. “You know… something I didn’t want to have to do. Ever. But here I am forced again by controlling men to do shit against my will.”
Tony looked wounded by that, and you ignored it, turning on your heel, storming down the hallway. You gritted your teeth. You were going to do your damndest to not cry.
<><><>
It had been over ten minutes since Y/N had locked the bathroom door before he finally heard something.
Tony was leaning on the wall outside and he heard her stifle a sob. His eyes closed, exhaling deeply. He pushed away from the wall and his hand came to the door handle of the door, but he hesitated. His hand fell from the handle, deciding to give her space, and he walked away back towards the living room, his hand coming up to rub at his face, distressed.
Yes, it was going to be easier having her close by pregnant to watch over, he thought to himself.
Regardless of if it was his or not.
<><><>
Daryl or Eric were not in the lobby, causing Steve to frown. Were they upstairs? He got into the elevator, a bad feeling swirling in his gut.
He exited the elevator, holding the envelope to Y/N’s favorite local boutique close to him. He meant to just slide it underneath the door to avoid pissing Tony off even further but to still connect to her. Extend an olive branch and slowly apologize, getting himself back to her good graces.
He stopped though, seeing Terrence or Wylan were not there at the hallway’s end. Worry was beginning to seep in deep at the fact both sets of men were not where they were supposed to be.
Picking up his pace, Steve moved to her apartment door and his heart hammered seeing the keylock on her door instead of a deadbolt. That meant she had moved, and the apartment was empty.
His jaw set, fury burning its way through him.
Tony, that son of a bitch.

HOLDING OUT FOR A HERO VERSE.
this is a modern bending vigilante/hero au featuring zukka, mailee, yueki and a lot of hijinks!
the gaang are all 16-19 here, because while bruce wayne apparently has no problem with it, i’m not comfortable with having vigilantes who haven’t yet gone through puberty.
the avatar world is just one big city, and each of the nations/cities are different suburbs of the city.
kyoshi island, ember island, and boiling rock are small islands off of the city, similar to singapore’s sentosa island.
the city (republic city? i dunno, get back to me on this one) is full of heroes, vigilantes and villains alike. the fire nation is a criminal empire intent on taking over the city. the avatar is a hero who works to keep the balance of heroes and villains in the city, and stop the entire city from becoming a war zone.
however, the avatar disappeared 100 years ago, and no one was chosen to take up the mantle since. in the avatar’s absence, the fire nation was able to begin its quest to take over the city.
the heroes of the southern water tribe that were left after the various raids have left the southern water suburb on a mission to defeat the fire nation or die.
hakoda, alias chief, left his two young children in charge of their territory, despite them being a) children and b) relatively untrained.
katara, alias painted lady, is the only waterbender left in the southern water tribe. sokka, alias captain boomerang, is the only trained combat hero left in the southern water tribe. all those remaining are either children or incapable of fighting.
side tangent: when sokka does well, he calls himself “grand marshal boomerang” and when he does badly, he calls himself “private boomerang”. thank you to the crimily for coming up with this one!!
one night, when katara and sokka are out on patrol, they get chased by fire nation goons into the ice off of the southern harbour. there, they get into a fight over sokka’s sexist remarks and katara’s yelling having attracted the fire nation goons, and katara’s waterbending gets out of control. she breaks open an iceberg, only to find someone in there.
the two siblings approach the iceberg and break the person out. they are shocked to find a young boy in the unmistakable uniform of the avatar, resting next to a creature they’ve never seen before.
they wake the boy up, to find that his name is aang and he’s the next avatar. and that he has no idea of the fire nation’s quest to conquer the entire city, or the fact that the air nomads – heroes that didn’t resign to just one area of the city – hadn’t been seen for the same hundred years that he must’ve spent in the iceberg.
katara and a reluctant sokka take aang back to the apartment building where the remaining southern water suburb residents have been living and introduce him to everyone.
later that night, the three go out on patrol together. it’s a quiet night, and sokka thinks they might actually get through it without any incidents, until they find a woman being mugged.
sokka and katara are about to intervene, but aang takes down both thugs in a matter of seconds. aang, ignoring the slack jawed shock of his friends, asks if they could go penguin sledding. katara goes to agree, but is cut off by the shout of “MY HONOUR” from a nearby rooftop.
zuko, alias dragon prince, runs from the rooftop before they could find him. his father ozai, alias firelord, had sent him and his uncle iroh – formerly dragon of the west, now retired – to find the avatar. zuko had been banished from the fire nation territory years ago, after speaking up about a plan that would’ve cost them a whole division of goons and refusing to fight his father in an agni kai.
the kyoshi warriors are similar to the birds of prey or the amazons; they’re an all-female crime-fighting unit not directly associated with any of the kingdoms or nations. suki is their leader, and they don’t have secret identities like the other heroes.
iroh, bumi, piandao, jeong-jeong and p*kku are all retired heroes and a part of the order of the white lotus.
toph is the blind bandit and a hero, albeit a less morally structured and ‘good’ hero than the avatar, the painted lady, and captain boomerang. she was a part of the underground fighting ring ‘earth rumble’ when the gaang infiltrated the ring looking for intel and convinced her that her powers could be used for something better than beating bitches blue and making bank while doing it.
azula is firebolt, and she is as brilliant as she is terrifying. she’s arguably more feared than the firelord, mainly because she’s the one who frequents other areas and actually goes on missions. ozai just sits on his stupid throne and yells at people and manipulates his children like the little bitch he is.
mai and ty lee are azula’s sidekicks, and are known as blade and tightrope respectively. also: they’re lesbians, harold.
yue is a part of the northern water tribe’s group of heroes, alongside her family. they tried to marry her off to hahn and have her trained in healing instead of fighting, but she rebelled and threatened to go out on her own, so they relented. yue’s hero alias is tui, but she will be called sailor moon at least three times.
jet and his freedom fighters are a group of anti-heroes who aren’t afraid to hurt innocent people in their pursue of ‘justice’.
zhao is a villain who works for the firelord, under the alias admiral, and he’s an asshole. using the yuyan archers, he manages to capture aang and takes him to a fire nation stronghold. zuko finds out about this, and not wanting admiral asshole to get the upper hand, dresses as the blue spirit for the first time to rescue aang.
during the siege of the north, zhao “kills” yue. she fakes her own death and disappears into hiding until the final battle, in which she kills zhao because it’s what she deserves.
the gaang know that yue is alive, because she’s nice enough to not do them like that, but they have to keep up appearances. because of this, sokka amps up the heartbreak and clings to suki a lot. that’s why a lot of outsiders begin to think that sokka dated yue and is dating suki, though in reality yue and suki are dating each other.
zuko and iroh, after the siege of the north and a trap set by azula, disappear into hiding and decide to take refuge in ba sing se, knowing that the fire nation wouldn’t think to look for them there.
ba sing se is a section of the city that has been fenced off in order to prevent an influx of heroes and villains. the dai li, who keep a tight grip on the suburb and ensure that the residents don’t know of the war raging outside the walls, are a group of “heroes”.
of course, the fence does nothing to prevent zuko and iroh, the gaang, and later azula, mai and ty lee from entering ba sing se and turning it into their own warzone.
iroh fulfils his dream of finally owning a tea shop and zuko, when not working in the tea shop, spends his nights lingering in the shadows of ba sing se as the blue spirit.
sokka, desperate for a warm drink and something to do while the others do their bending training, wanders into the jasmine dragon one afternoon and is served by “lee”.
neither know the other’s civilian identity, so there’s no shady business, just pining over the cute customer/server. sokka strikes a conversion and the two begin flirting chatting. it’s going really well, and you can almost see the romance blooming.
and then in walks azula, flanked by mai and ty lee, all in costume.
sokka and zuko both leap up from their seats and into fighting stances. both are confused as to why the other jumped up, and then azula calls zuko brother and it clicks in sokka’s mind.
he starts yelling at zuko for a lot of things, including yue’s “death” which is how zuko realises who he is. zuko starts yelling back because he’s only once met a fight he didn’t like. in the background of this argument, iroh is trying to fight azula, mai and ty lee to varying degrees of success.
it’s funny that i say degrees, because this is when azula sets fire to the jasmine dragon. iroh grabs the two dumbass arguing teens and shoves them outside as he too runs, telling zuko to meet at their rendezvous point at sunrise.
azula, mai and ty lee chase after zuko and sokka (who are still arguing as they run from the three girls). mai and ty lee don’t want to chase them, because zuko has always been better to them than azula, but defying azula would be a death sentence.
sokka pulls zuko into a building for coverage, and because azula is azula, she summons the dai li and has them surround the building. there would be no leaving without confronting the dai li, and thus zuko and sokka are trapped.
sokka confronts zuko and basically asks how he could justify the fire nation’s villainy, how he could support a monster who’s killing hundreds of people. zuko defends his father blindly because he’s been raised to believe that his father is right, that his father has to be right, and this southern water scum is wrong. but zuko’s losing his grip on the argument and is becoming more and more hysterical but sokka is so calm, so sure of himself, and the dam finally breaks.
zuko crumples to the ground in tears, and now sokka’s gotta deal with this because ozai is a shitface and has been brainwashing his son for years and wow fuck the fire nation.
mai and ty lee, having taken down the dai li, burst in to find zuko crying his eyes out in sokka’s arms. they teasingly ask if they’re interrupting something and laugh as zuko next to sprints out of the building, sokka hot on his heels.
this is the last straw for zuko, who defects from the fire nation, hangs up his dragon prince uniform and fully becomes the blue spirit, a hero who works with the gaang to eventually take down the fire nation.
also, at some stage zuko rescues a turtleduck that got stuck up a tree. don’t ask me how this happens.

Learning Your Lesson
Tumblr media
A/N: This isn't the first fanfic I've written, but it's the first I've finished. It's on the darker side, which I have no problem writing, I don't want my blog to be only that. That Keishin kitchen one is coming I just gotta get through finals. Thank you @kogo for the idea! You mentioned it, so I took it and bolted.
TW: noncon/dubcon, yandere, phone sex, masturbation, implied drinking
"Baby," Hawks cooed into the phone, "what's wrong?"
It was in the middle of his night patrol when you called him, the ringtone specifically set for you jingling throughout the empty streets from his jacket pocket. When he picked up, he was met with your soft sobs on the other end of the line.
"Keigo?" Your voice barely audible. "Can you come get me? I don't want to talk about it here."
"(y/n), what's the matter," Hawks says, voice dropping an octave.
“You were right, Keigo,” you sob. “I shouldn’t have gone. I shouldn’t have gone out tonight.”
“(Y/n),” Hawks said, the seriousness in his voice chilling you more thoroughly than the night air. “What happened?” He was growing restless, pacing the same alleyway. He told you not to go out. You should have listened to him. You should always listen to him. He can only hope you learned your lesson this time.
Since you and the Number 2 Hero began dating, Hawks had grown increasingly paranoid about your safety. If it had been anyone else, Hawks' possessiveness over you could have been seen as controlling; you told yourself that he only had your safety in mind. Dating a pro hero, especially such a high ranking one, came with its dangers, and your quirklessness made you an even easier target. If anything happened to you, Hawks wouldn't know what to do with himself, a fact he constantly reminded you of.
You insisted on going out with your friends tonight. “Keigo,” you whined, stretching his name out like you were one of his teenage fans, “Please. I haven’t seen them in months.” You were just a quirkless nobody, making minimum wage and barely scraping by to make rent and survive your shitty neighborhood. Scratch the latter bit. You were just a quirkless nobody, but since your relationship with Hawks kicked off, the pro had moved you into his apartment, a much safer, much more suitable place for you, and you know longer had to worry about your safety. Except on occasions like these. Your friends, all either quirkless or with minor quirks that would be useless in protecting you should anything happen, were gathering to celebrate an engagement, and surprise surprise they invited you.
Hawks tried his best to persuade you otherwise, listing all the dangers of going out without him, or going out at all, especially when you were dressed like that. Your little skirt falling just over your ass. Anyone could drop their wallet behind you and sneak a peek up your skirt. Your shirt was much too tight; and where was your jacket? You're just showing off the goods for everyone, like you were asking for something to happen.
But you could not, would not be swayed. You missed your friends. Though you loved Hawks, “It's Keigo, baby,” he would insist, you craved your friendships, and you were overjoyed to find that they didn’t hate you for practically disappearing on them since your relationship with Hawks, "Keigo", had become serious.
“What happened?” Hawks repeated, his impatience growing.
“It all happened so quickly,” you sobbed.
“(y/n),” Hawks quite nearly growled out. “What. Happened.” You were really testing him right now, what with interrupting his patrol, albeit his boring, uneventful patrol. How could he help you when you weren't telling him what was wrong.
"I was leaving the bar. You remember which one?" Your voice shook. Hawks held back a scoff. Of course he knew where the bar was. It was the very bar frequented by the League, nestled neatly into the roughest area of town; it's inexpensiveness appealing to your friends' cheapness more than the potential danger drove them away. He told you they couldn't be trusted.
"Well I was leaving," You must be shaking like a leaf. Hawks can hear it in your voice. "And I get this feeling, like someone's following me. So I walk faster, and I—" you cut. Soft cries filled Hawks' ears as he listened.
Hawks can feel himself growing tighter in his pants as you cry. He knows where this is heading. He told you not to go, but you didn't listen. It would be rude of you to ask them to reschedule to a date when Hawks could more easily pick you up, or even better, accompany you. You were too overjoyed when they reached out with an invitation despite your disappearance in their life. But now here you were, sobbing—god how he loved your cries—to him over the phone because some asshole had roughed you up a bit. What did you expect leaving The League of Villains' bar alone at this ungodly hour?
As angry as he was over your stupidity, he couldn't deny how hot you sounded in your current state. His arousal was confirmed by the decent tent forming in his uniform pants. After a quick scan of the area, Hawks found a nearby alleyway to slip into. He was thankful his designated area to patrol tonight was rather unlively. Leaning against the rough bricks, Hawks found himself quickly undoing his belt, shoving his pants and boxers down just enough to free himself.
"Go on, baby," Hawks said. It took all his self control not to let so much as a slight hitch in his voice show as he encouraged you to talk.
"Keigo, please. I don't know why I have to tell you all right now." you sobbed. "Please, just come get me."
"Baby," Hawks drawled, suppressing a moan as he languidly stroked himself up to full hardness. "I don't want you to have to relive this more than you have to. So you just tell me now, as detailed as possible. I can fill out whatever reports you would need to for you, and you won't ever have to think about this again." It was hard for you to argue with Hawks in your fragile state. “I know what’s best for you, baby bird. Tell me everything.”
So you did. You told Keigo all about the strange man who you guessed had followed you out of the bar. Who would just be lurking outside the League's bar waiting to pounce on an unsuspecting quirkless? Hawks would bet his next several paychecks just who would be doing exactly that.
You told Hawks about the rough, calloused hand over your mouth accompanied by the low voice in your ear whispering that if you so much as made a squeak, you'd be cremated on the spot. Bingo. At least he wasn't losing much in a bet against himself. Judging by the state of his hard cock in his gloved hand, he was actually winning here.
Hawks would have just laughed at you had he not been so fucking turned on. He would have to look past that cheesy "cremation" line. How did you not know who was lurking around the sleazy bar waiting for a hot piece of meat, for you, to stumble out the bar, drunk and alone. Were you always such an idiot? How did you ever survive without him?
You told him about how you had been unceremoniously dragged into the alley next to the bar and shoved face first into the bricks of one of the bar's outer walls. Hawks' eyes fluttered shut, his mouth hung up as his head fell back against the wall he braced himself against. His fist picked up the pace, imagining your soft protests and how lovely your weak, slurred cries of "please no" would have sounded as your skirt was flipped up and panties ripped through. Knowing your attacker, a hole very well could have been burned through for easy access. He'd have to check once he got you home and asleep.
Hawks continued pumping himself as you continued your sob fest, jerking his foreskin up and down over his angry almost purple head. God how he wished to be there, listening to your sobs, cooing at you that everything was going to be okay as he kissed your tear stained, brick scratched cheeks and stroked a finger over that pretty, abused pussy of yours.
His gloved thumb rubbing over his slit, as he pictured how badly your insides were wrecked, how that jacob's ladder would have scraped against your warm plush walls. Were you even wet? You had to be. After all, only a slut would have gone out when he told them otherwise. He could only imagine how rough the man in question was with you and your pliant body. In your drunken state, how hard could you have fought back? Not very hard, Hawks had gotten you nice and drunk quite a number of times, and that was exactly why he protested you going out in the first place. His breathing grew heavier the closer he came to his release.
"Keigo?" your feeble voice called out over the phone's speaker. "Are you okay?"
"Yea, baby. I'm okay." Hawks collected himself. Pull yourself together, man. "Are you okay? I'm just so angry." that you didn't listen to me.
"Keigo, are you close?" Oh he was close alright. Just a few more strokes, a few more sniffles and whines from you, and he would be right there.
“Please, Keigo. Hurry up. I’m cold and scared. Keigo, I’m so scared.” That's all he needed.
“I’m coming, baby. I’m coming.” Hawks said, praying you couldn’t hear the breathlessness in his voice. His brilliant wings puffed and gave a few strained flutters before shaking tensely as his hand stilled and streaks of hot white fell on the dirty street below him. You weren’t the most intuitive, so you’d probably attribute it to his anger.
With his lust no longer clouding his mind, a sudden worry stuck Hawks.
"Did he cum in you?" Hawks practically growled.
"What? No. Why are you asking me this?" your confusion briefly pausing your sobs.
"Just checking to see if you need me to make a stop by the pharmacy," Hawks explained as he stuffed himself back in his pants. "I'm on my way. I just have to make a quick call, baby. I love you." He zipped himself up and fixed his belt back into place. He shook out and stretched his wings. Hawks couldn't remember ever cumming that hard.
"No. Keigo, please don't hang up," you hiccuped.
"Baby, baby," Hawks cooed, "I gotta let the commission know that I'm taking off early. You don't think I'd just continue working after this?" A smirk worked its way onto his handsome face. He could imagine your cute face scrunched into a pout. "Do you have that little faith in me? It's the least you could let me do before I leave patrol early for you. You think you learned your lesson?"
"Um," your voice trembles, Hawks’ last statement confusing you. "I suppose." You weren’t sure what your lesson was; you just wanted Keigo to take you home.
"Good girl,” a dark smile finds his way on Hawks’ face. I'll call you right back. I promise," Hawks reassures you, the fear in your voice as you feebly protested was almost enough to make him hard again. "I'll let you hang up, okay? I love you."
"Okay," you sniff, "I love you too."
Hawks hears the light click signaling that you hung up and glances down at his phone for confirmation before quickly dialing another number, his smile growing darker as he waited out the ringing. After about three rings, Hawks broke out in a full smile, his crazed golden eyes gleaming in the moonlight of the alleyway he had hidden himself into.
“What you do want now, ya fucking pigeon?” a rough, gravely voice answered.
“Thanks, Touya. I really owe you one.”

SamBucky Halloween Prompt 5: Mausoleum
Sam meets Bucky in a mausoleum in Brooklyn  (This fic is set in Brooklyn because I could not make up a reason for Bucky to be in Louisiana despite the fact that I really very badly wanted it set in Louisiana. Bucky is also slightly younger because of fic reasons.)
Rated G: Discussions of death and loss (It’s set in a mausoleum, use discretion) (AO3 link in the notes)
Title from “Little Ghost” by The White Stripes, highly encourage you to listen to the song
One I’m Most Scared Of
Sam hated funerals. He hated that his father wanted him around for them. No other seventeen year old was surrounded by so much death and mourning.
“Sam, you have a gift,” his father said. “You put others at ease just by your presence.”
Sam thought everyone else should invest in a therapist and not a high schooler.
Petulantly, he kicked his heels back against a stone bench as he stared at the walls of crypts and cremains spots. Behind him, the funeral party milled and offered condolences to the bereaved, which actually seemed like everyone in the party. Sometimes, a funeral party seemed less bereaved than relieved at these things. Sam remembered the first time he heard a man’s daughter immediately plan lunch with a group of friends without a waver to her voice or a tear on her cheek. He vowed he’d never be the kind of person that had a funeral like that.
If he even had a funeral. Putting himself in the ground in whatever clothes he died in and then becoming a tree without telling anyone was becoming a nicer and nicer option.
So, he listened to the sniffling without turning around and thought about what kind of tree he’d become. He’d already done his duties of rubbing a wife’s arm, hugging kids, tickling grandkids, listening to the same three stories a dozen times. His father couldn’t expect anything else from him. So he wasn’t thrilled when someone his age sat down beside him.
The guy was handsome in a traditional, classical sort of way. Not as boring as the rich white guys who went to Sam’s school. His hair was side parted and only long enough to make an impressive arch on his head instead of laying in his face. He had a square jaw that was a little comical and his nose was a little fucked up in a kind of endearing way. The way Sam’s best friend looked after getting beaned in the face by a wayward baseball. Like most people who came through the mausoleum, he was sad.
There was no other word for it. Sam had tried to be poetic about his time in the crypts, but there was only so much the clinical-ness of bereaved and the dramatic-ness of tortured or sobbing or anguished could do. And they were rarely entirely true. Sad was just the word for people staring at remains of someone they once loved. Sometimes the simple explanation was the most appropriate. The rest of death and grief was already so complicated. It was easier to just feel sad.
The guy was too old to be a grandkid but too young to be a kid, unless the deceased and his wife had gotten freaky in their elder age. Sam hadn’t noticed him in his previous passes of the party or from the service, where he always sat in the back and made it a game to memorize as many shades of black or ridiculous hair styles as possible.
In fact, the boy wasn’t even wearing black. He was wearing a dark brown jacket, adorned with gold accents and pins. In fact… Sam was pretty certain it was an old military dress uniform.
“Uh...are you just visiting?” Sam ventured when the guy didn’t even bother to glance over.
The guy’s mouth quirked to one side faintly. “Yeah, you could say that. That one,” he said, gesturing to an entombment with a gravemarker that read James Buchanan Barnes March 10, 1922 - February 5, 1942. Son, Brother, Friend, Hero.
“Oh,” Sam breathed and understood the weird military uniform. “Are you related to him? You do kinda look like him.”
The guy turned finally to look at Sam and raised an eyebrow. “Yeah, you could say that. I’m Bucky.”
“Oh, jeez, you were named after him too.”
The guy--Bucky 2, apparently--cocked his head in a half nod. “I’m actually waiting on someone. Do you think they’ll be here much longer?” he asked, jerking his chin over to the party.
“Well, these things don’t really have a limit to how long people can be here,” Sam pointed out. “But most people get the point when they start sealing the tomb and all. Uh, this thing you’re waiting for, is it about him? Like, some kind of memorial service?”
It was neither February nor March, so Sam couldn’t imagine why there would be a memorial service for Barnes now. It had been a while since Sam’s father had done a service in Brooklyn and he’d kind of forgotten the cult status Barnes and,  to a much greater extent, Rogers had in this town.
“Nah, I’m just waiting on a friend,” Bucky said.
“Well…” Sam settled back against the stone bench. “I’ll stand in for a while.”
“You wanna be my friend? Should I be worried. I think horror movies start off like this.”
“Name one horror movie that starts off in a mausoleum.”
“Murder by the Clock. Mummy’s Tomb. All the vampire movies.”
“Dracula doesn’t live in a mausoleum,” Sam argued lightly. “And I’ve never even heard of those other movies.”
“That’s ‘cause you don’t watch classics.”
“Uh-huh. Or you were just scraping the bottom of the barrel.”
Bucky rolled his eyes and knocked his shoulder against Sam’s. “Did you know…” He gestured back to the waning funeral party.
Sam shook his head. “No. My dad’s the pastor. He did the service. He likes me to be here for moral support.”
“Hell, I don’t think my parents trusted my morals as far as they could throw me,” Bucky snorted.
Sam noted the past tense but knew better than to push for information, especially in a mausoleum during a funeral of all places. “Are you a student around here?” he asked instead.
“Can’t you tell?” Bucky answered as he popped the lapels of his jacket. “I’m a soldier.”
“Right. A soldier who’s home, spending his time in mausoleums in front of his great-great uncle or something.”
“I could be a great-great grandkid. I heard he got around.”
“I heard that was all manufactured propaganda to sell a story.”
“I read it in a book.”
“And I read about time travel and aliens in a book.”
Bucky shrugged. “There are weirder things out there.”
“Right, in a world of super soldiers and Nazis with no faces,” Sam agreed drily.
“You’ll see,” Bucky assured. “Aliens and time travel are both gonna be all anyone talks about soon.”
“Y’know, I didn’t think a guy dressing up as his great-great grandpa-uncle to meet someone at his burial site would be so into sci-fi too.”
“Multitudes and all that. You know, there were half a dozen sci-fi books in his bag when his belongings were recovered.”
“I’ve heard that,” Sam said. Only because it’d been a point in the Oscar-Bait movie a few years ago. “He’d read to Rogers when he was sick.”
Bucky looked a little wistful and then nodded.”I’ve heard that too.”
“Do you ever feel pressure to be like him? Or be somethin’ you’re not, just ‘cause someone looked at your little baby face and named you after a legend?”
That wry, sad grin came back and Bucky shook his head. “Nah. Not really. Do you, though? I mean, obviously not him. But someone.”
Sam traced out the letters of the name of someone who died in 1985. A L E X A N D E R. He nodded. “Feels like everyone needs me to be someone and I let myself play that part until people stopped noticing it was a part.”
“What’s the part?” Bucky asked as he leaned back on his hands.
“I dunno. Someone who-- Well, I mean… Maybe it’s not a full part. Maybe I’m just upset that people only want me to have one kind of personality trait. I mean, everyone knows I’m kind and I’m good with words and I care about people. And I really do want to be that guy. But when I want to be that guy, y’know? Not all the time. Sometimes I want to cry and scream and rage too. Sometimes I want to be quiet for a little while and not help someone else. Just for a few hours.”
Bucky nodded and stared at the rows of internments  before them. “Y’know. I’m sure people would understand that if you told them. If you said, ‘I can’t do this right now. Please let me be quiet.’”
“I know that,” Sam said softly. He tangled his fingers together in his lap. “Maybe I’m mostly angry at myself for not being able to say something like that. I’m the guy who helps. If I don’t do that, if I beg a day off, then who am I? What am I bringing to the table?”
Bucky scooted closer and put a hand on Sam’s knees. It sent a jolt through Sam’s body and he worked very hard on not jerking his gaze up to Bucky’s face. “Sam, you just said you have other personality traits, other feelings, other hobbies that aren’t hanging out in a mausoleum. That’s what you bring to the table on the days you can’t be there for everyone else.”
Sam nodded and reached up to rub two fingers under his eye. He wasn’t at full tears yet, but he also didn’t want to get any closer. “Wait, did I tell you my name?” he asked suddenly.
Bucky lifted an eyebrow again. “You must’ve. Or someone else said it earlier. The point is, you’re still you. And you bring smarts and humor and a good head around, even when you aren’t offering free therapy or a crying shoulder. And, Sam, listen, even when you don’t want to be any of that, you’re still kind. I’ve only been sitting here for a few minutes and you’ve been kind the whole time, even when you weren’t trying. It’s not a part you’re playing. Just be who you are and ask for your time when you need it. If people reflect even a quarter of the love you put out there back at you, no one will ever begrudge you some quiet.”
Sam swallowed thickly and leaned against Bucky’s shoulder heavily. Bucky moved his hand from Sam’s knee to wrap his arm around his ribs instead. “You really think I’m funny and smart?” Sam asked eventually.
“You started spouting off propaganda theories and joking about where vampires technically live. Yeah, you’re something else, man,” Bucky laughed. “And I think you’re beautiful, which people always appreciate in people they hang around with.”
Sam rolled his eyes and ignored the last comment, thankful that his skin was dark enough to hide his blush and Bucky couldn’t see the swooping of his stomach. “Well, if you think that’s impressive, I’ve got a whole list of things I think are propaganda.”
“I’d love to hear all about it some other time.”
“Is your friend here?” Sam asked, sitting back a little and glancing around.
Bucky’s eyes cast around the mausoleum briefly too. “No. I just don’t feel like listening to any propaganda tonight,” he joked.
Sam jostled his elbow into Bucky’s rib and leaned back against his side. “I can’t remember the last time I actually talked to someone in one of these things. Everything’s always so surface level here. ‘Sorry for your loss’ ‘He was a good man’ ‘Of course we’ll come by the benefit.’ None of it means anything.”
“Well, I wasn’t part of the funeral, so maybe that was a plus. I’m just some guy. Hanging out in a mausoleum.”
“Ah, you’re the vampire,” Sam said with a grin. “Maybe I should get a stake in that casket.”
“There’s no body in it,” Bucky reminded him. “They never found Rogers’ or Barnes’ body.”
“Right, right. The train and plane.”
“It’s just for show,” Bucky said. He reached out to trace his fingers along Barnes’ last name and then held his palm against the stone for a second longer.
Sam put his hand on Bucky’s knee and said quickly, like ripping a bandaid off, “Do you want to get lunch or something? With me? Now, or later. I’m not picky. And then maybe again?”
Bucky turned blue eyes back to Sam and he really did look just like all those old pictures. That same sad smile came to his mouth. “Yeah, I really, really do. Maybe later,” he said and leaned over to kiss Sam’s cheek softly.
Sam’s eyes fluttered shut and his heart kicked up so rapidly in his chest it punched the air out of his ribs.
When he managed to open his eyes again, Bucky was gone.

Good Manners - Henry Deaver x Mistress
Tumblr media
Warning: 18+ smut/mentions of cheating/mature themes/strong language/spousal conflict. **Dominance, some bum stuff and mega fluff in this part**
Note: I kind of hate to say this, but I think I will retire HxM after a couple more parts. I’ll tie it up nicely, and answer all the burning questions before I do so, but I just wanted to warn you guys now instead of springing it on you without notice. I just have so many projects I want to get underway and tying up some stories is necessary for me to direct my focus. Don’t hate me! I know we’ve had a lot of fun with this series, but I see it winding down, and I hope you understand!
Read past Henry x Mistress imagines here > Masterpost
Tumblr media
Henry threw open the door, taking long strides as he shed his jacket, dropped his keys on the kitchen island and zipped through to the living room where he found her channel-surfing in her pyjamas. From the corner of her eye, the tall man's sudden appearance startled a gasp from her.
"Henry! I didn't expect you home so quickly. How did it go?" She said, sitting up straight.
"It doesn't matter," he muttered.
Henry swept her off the couch, attacking her mouth with his to stifle any further questioning. Fresh with anger and the residual adrenaline of finally admitting he had taken a mistress during the downfall of his marriage, Henry had grown tired of explaining himself. He was hungry and eager to display his dominance—the dominance that evaporated in Mary's shadow no longer.
When he was with her—his true love—there was nothing he wasn't allowed to do, no act she forbade. If he wanted to take her hard and fast, she welcomed the rush. If he wished to have her take care of him, that was also permitted. Tonight he wanted nothing more than to make her moan and squeal, proving to himself that he wasn't a pawn in a grand-scale game of manipulation. Henry was powerful, and it had been too long since he acknowledged his prowess.
"Oh my gosh, Henry. Where is this all coming from?" She asked, breathless as Henry toted her to the bedroom and tossed her onto the king-sized bed.
"Quiet. No more questions," Henry said as he unbuttoned his shirt and pulled the fabric from underneath his belted trousers. "Tonight, you're mine. Your body is mine to do with what I please.
"Yes, sir."
He took hold of her chin, smiling. "Oh, yes. That's exactly what I want to hear. Yes, sir. More, sir. Harder, sir. And anything I ask for, you'll provide."
She nodded as he shed his undershirt and undid his belt. The glint of the buckle in the light caught her eye, and Henry noticed the way she squirmed and bit her lip. He looked down at the leather in his hand, and instead of discarding it like he usually would, he folded it in half, snapping the material together with a crack. She flinched.
"What? Does the thought of getting whipped with my belt make your pussy wet?" He asked.
"Yes, Mister Deaver, sir," she said, turning about and bending over.
"I bet everything I do makes that pussy wet."
She smiled, wiggling her hips until Henry climbed onto the bed and pulled her bottoms up, cheeks peeking out from under the flimsy material. Henry tapped one cheek and then the other with the folded belt, a light warning of undeserved but wanted punishment.
While Henry teased her skin, she thought about what might have happened with Mary to set him off. He wasn't the type to take control without significant reason. The first time Henry had dominated her had been in his office after a day of training and mutual teasing. She remembered it clearly; everyone had gone home, leaving the floor empty. Yet even as high up as they were, she got off on the thought of someone seeing them through the window, an intern walking in to ask Henry a question, or an after-hours janitor happening upon them in the throes of ecstasy.
Henry wedged the material of her bottoms even higher, leaning over to first kiss the area he meant to slap. Then he raised the belt and whipped her. It wasn't a harsh blow. He could have hit much harder, but she still mewled and thanked Henry.
"Good manners," Henry praised, yanking the bottoms down around her knees. "And I see no panties. Only bad girls forget to put on their panties. Are you a bad girl?"
"Yes, sir. But I want to be a good girl for you," she said.
"You're well on your way, darling. Hold still."
She yelped from the firm smack of the leather across her bottom. An angry red welt rose, spanning both cheeks. Even Henry winced as he ran his hand over the reddening mark, feeling the warmth radiating from her skin.
"That was a good one," he said, chuckling.
"Thank you, sir," she whispered.
Henry dropped the belt and got on his knees before the edge of the bed. Framing her rear, he licked one half of the most recent strip of buzzing punishment, and then the other, providing cooling relief with his saliva. He pulled back, simpering and admiring the fullness of her ass, the disciplinary marks and the moan that left her when he trailed his tongue close to her openings.
"Do you remember the first night I fucked you? How much fun we had at the bar before I invited you up? Gosh... It took me so many drinks to find the balls to ask you. I thought I'd be too drunk to perform when I finally got you naked. But you looked so hot that night. Even in your little server's uniform, the white button-up blouse... Your hair all twisted up in a bun where you used to stick your pencil. I had already imagined fucking you so many times before then, too."
Henry kissed the crease between thigh and cheek, then gave her a satisfying smack. Grabbing her thigh, he guided her legs open, and her pussy came into view, but he wasn't ready to touch her quite yet.
"Even though I wanted things to work out with my wife, every morning I saw you, I wished I'd gotten the divorce underway so I could pull you onto my lap and squeeze all your beautiful curves. Some nights I'd argue with her, then come into that café just to get a glimpse of a woman who smiled every time she saw me. Such a little thing shouldn't have been so erotic, but it was, and God, I just wanted you so bad. I even masturbated to the thought of taking you at that bar long before you and I ever hooked up."
Henry's admissions made her cheeks turn pink, and her heart raced. She dropped her tailbone, encouraging him to touch her, but he only slid his hand up and down her ass, petting her while he spoke.
"Let me ask you something, gorgeous... Did you ever think about fucking me?"
She scoffed, not from embarrassment but from the absurdity of Henry not realizing how much she flirted with him during the times they had been strangers. "Of course, I did. How could I not? You always came in looking so handsome. I thought you were a model. And you were the kindest gentleman I'd ever met. I wanted to serve you much more than just coffee and scones," she giggled.
"Really?" He asked, kissing the small of her back as he squeezed her cheeks again.
"Yes, sir. Even though I knew you were married, I still thought of having those big, strong hands touching my body."
Henry chuckled under his breath. "And what else?"
She blushed. "Well, sir... I often wondered if you were as nice as you looked. Most of the men who dressed like you were entitled, rude... But you always smiled at me, and I couldn't help wanting to kiss you. I wanted to climb on your lap in the middle of that café and ride your cock. Sometimes, I even snuck away just to touch myself a little after you came in. I'd watch your hand gripping your pen, watch you purse your lips when you were lost in thought. Once, I even dropped something on the floor near you just so I could bend down and hope you were staring at me."
"Oh, that's naughty. Have you always been such a naughty girl?" Henry asked.
"Yes, sir. I think so. But you help bring it out of me," she said.
"I do, do I? I make you want to be bad?"
She nodded her head. "Yes, Mister Deaver. Can I tell you something else?"
Henry purred as he popped the button of his pressed trousers and pushed them down his thighs, readying himself to tease her even more. "You may."
"I had a feeling you were married. That first night, after you asked me to go upstairs with you to your room... You weren't wearing your ring, but I saw it many times before. I knew you must have had a wife, but I chose to play dumb because I wanted your cock so badly. It didn't even matter to me. I thought we'd just fuck once to get it out of our systems... But you were so amazing. I knew right after that I'd come back for more. I wanted to be mad at you for being a bad man, but I couldn't help myself."
Henry's groin roiled with excitement, blood shooting down to harden him. He disrobed and climbed onto the bed behind her, goading her pussy with the head of his swollen cock. "There's no other pussy in this world I'd ever want to be inside, baby. You're so perfect for me. My nasty little girl."
Playing confessions helped ease away the panic gripping Henry's heart. The reworked settlement and Mary's promise to drain him meant nothing as he pushed inside of her. The private investigator—if what Mary said was true—following them around to catch them in a lover's embrace only strengthened his need for her. He wanted to be seen touching her, kissing her. Henry looked down at the woman groaning from his penetration and bristled with affection.
"Oh, Mister Deaver, your cock feels so good inside me," she languished.
"Fuck, I love you, baby. I love your tight little pussy. Your beautiful face. This gorgeous body. Mm, I'll never get enough of you. My perfect girl."
She bent her spine, pressing into his hips until she completely enveloped him. Henry clutched her thighs and began pumping into her, picking up speed until she whined from the harsh punctures.
He ground his teeth, unable to stifle his pleasure. "Fuck, I love your cunt baby. Love when it makes my cock all soaking wet. It's so much tighter than hers. You're absolutely perfect."
"Thank you, sir," she murmured.
Henry pressed his chest to her back, snaking his arm around her collarbone to bring her close. "You belong to me. You're all mine. This pussy right here? This sweet little hole belongs to me. Only me."
Each thrust knocked a bit of air from her lungs until she gasped. Henry touched her clit with two fingers, rubbing it sparingly as he pinched her nipples with the other hand.
"I fucking love you, baby. You know that? Not an hour goes by, I don't think of being with you, being inside you... I want you forever."
"I'm yours," she said.
"Do you love me?" He asked.
His strong pulses knocked the words out of her until he sat back on his haunches, bringing her with him to stir his hips. She moaned from the change in sensation.
"I love you," she whispered.
"Yeah? You really do?"
"Yes, Henry. I love you more than anything."
His hand squeezed gently around her neck as he leaned in close. "That's good, baby. I'll never tire of hearing you say that."
She smiled as he touched her clit again. His body pressing against hers made her feel small, chest and long arms enveloping her top half as he worked himself inside. Henry must have felt powerful that day, for he pulled out and toppled her onto her back, knocking her legs apart to hone in on her slick opening. He towered above, throwing her legs over his shoulders and driving her into the bed with his entire weight.
"Fuck, that pussy is so goddamn wet for me," Henry said with a gasp. "Can't believe all that delicious pussy juice belongs to me."
"Mm, can I taste it?" She asked.
Henry cocked his head as he continued slamming into her. "What?"
"Pull out and fuck my throat."
It took Henry a moment to reconcile with her request. Any other day, he might deny her, or cower from the idea of shoving his cock in her mouth. But today was different. She wanted him in all the ways Mary never did. The delight in her eyes still surprised him, and he gave her what she wanted because it was what he wanted, despite all the times he'd fashioned himself as too gallant. Too long were his intimate perversions denied that when he met her, he couldn't believe she languished in being treated like a plaything.
As he used her mouth and moaned from the swirling of her tongue, her hands travelled up his thighs and didn't stop until she gripped his cheeks. The pad of her thumb met the expanse of skin underneath his balls, and the sweet pressure caused a stirring of sensation that was still foreign to him. He shuddered, dropping his chin to find her staring up at him with an evil glint in her eyes. Henry nodded.
"Oh, fuck yes, I love it when you do that."
His encouragement lit a fire beneath her. All this time, she assumed Henry only humoured her when she wanted to play extra dirty and touch his ass, but he secretly loved the feeling. The tension against his prostate ignited hundreds of dormant nerves that lit the way toward a powerful orgasm. Henry recalled the first time he allowed her to finger him, how nervous he'd been and how intense the sensation felt when she penetrated him.
Careful not to intrude too hard or too fast, she circled his hole a few times, assessing by the magnitude of his moans it was okay to press a little further. If her mouth weren't full of his cock, she'd ask, but Henry didn't flinch or whine the way he had the first time.
He opened his legs wider and sat back on the digit teasing his entrance with a low, lustful groan.
"God, yes, baby, finger my fucking asshole while I fuck your throat. That's what I like."
The duelling pleasures had Henry bucking fast and coming faster. He didn't want the bliss to end, but her expert fingers and well-versed tongue pushed him to the edge and didn't stop there. Henry unsheathed his cock from her throat and spilled an impressive amount of cum over her chest. She even pulled him back in to drink the lazier stream of fluid that followed the many bursts that had him writhing and singing his pleasure.
"Jesus... You're such a dirty girl. I love it. Fuck, I love watching you lick up all my cum." Henry collapsed beside her, then gasped when he realized she hadn't orgasmed. "Oh, fuck! I almost forgot about you."
"It's all right, darling. How about you just rest and you can do me later? You look like you need a break."
Henry wanted to decline, but she was right. His ears rang, and his fingers and toes were numb from the recent climax. All he wanted was to hold her close and kiss her face while he came down.
"That was so good. You're amazing," Henry murmured.
"Feel better now?" She asked.
"So much better," he sighed. "But I have a question I need you to answer before we do anything else."
She propped her head up, disregarding the stickiness still dripping down her chest. "Oh, yeah? What's that?"
Henry took in a long, steadying breath. He blinked a few times until the haze in his vision subsided, then looked at her with seriousness burning in his mismatched eyes. "When we finalize this divorce, and I'm no longer married to that evil fucking succubus of a woman... Would you marry me?"
"What?" She gasped. "Henry! You can't be serious."
"I am serious. Very serious."
"You want to get hitched right away?"
"Baby... I've known for a long time that I want to marry you. It just seemed so... distant, impossible. Like it would never happen. But I promise, if you marry me, I'll be the best husband ever."
She hugged him close, squealing into his neck. "I know! I know you'd be the best husband."
"The moment I walk out of the court, I want to marry you. It's not enough to just be your boyfriend. I want to put a ring on your finger and have a wedding and go on a honeymoon. I want it all. Ever since I was young, I wanted to be a husband and—"
Henry bit his lip. She pulled back and searched his eyes, still gripping him tightly.
"And?" She pressed.
"A father. I want to be a dad so badly."
Tears sprung in the corner of her eyes. When he saw the watery pools reflecting him, a similar wave of emotions overtook him. She blinked, and two streams fell down her cheeks. Henry pulled her close, kissing her as his own tears fell. When he pulled back, she was smiling.
"Is that okay? Is that... too much?" Henry asked, voice trembling.
She shook her head. "It's not too much, Henry. I love you. God, I love you more than anything. You deserve to be happy. And of course, I'd marry you. I want nothing more than to be a good wife to you."
"Really?" He asked as more joyful tears washed out his vision.
"Yes!"
"That's wonderful," he whispered, pulling her close again.
She rested her cheek on his chest, feeling the thumping of his heart as he sniffled and wiped the tears from his face.
"Henry?"
"Yes, sweetheart?"
"I know you’ll be an amazing father."

‘A Little Adjustment’                                         a damirae fanfic
Chapter three
Monday 12:30 p.m
“Damian!” Donna rushed up to catch up to him in the hall during their passing period, “So it is true, you are back!”
Oh right, he forgot he never really did tell the team he was back. Not even his brothers knew, though he guaranteed his father already told them.
“I wasn’t planning on informing anyone. I’m assuming Jon told you?”
Donna lifted up her eyebrow taken aback, as if he said something unbelievable. “Are you kidding me? You’re the whole schools talk right now. Everywhere I go--” lifting up her hands gesturing at nothing, “it’s Damian Wayne this and Damian that.”
Tsk, as if that was any better. He already had so many prids attacking him with questions about his whereabouts at the academy. It was only 6th period and he already had people wanting to meddle into his life that wasn’t his father. It was awful.
“How come you didn’t tell anyone except Jon, you should’ve told me, or Wally or even Roy!” Donna shouted mildly disappointed but she mentioned someone who he didn’t even know.
Damian paused walking, turning to her, “Who’s Roy?”
“Roy Harper…?” Donna blinked, tilting her head till something clicked, “Oh right!--Did Jon not mention him to you? He's new to the team, aka Speedy. He’s Oliver’s--well was his sidekick. He actually goes here now too. You might like him, he's a really good fighter.”
Damian scoffed, “I’d expect him to be, if he’s already part of the team. As long as he’s not an imbecile with unhumorous jokes like Logan”
Donna rolled her eyes, bambling about something that he wasn't really listening to. When he heard a small distant laugh behind him. He knew who that shy awkward chuckle belonged to.
Raven was leaning against the side of the library doors laughing with whoever that poor scum is. Something in his stomach twisted with greed seeing that. Her hair in a messy bun with strands of hair framing her face, the academy’s white blouse fitting her too well. She was pressing her pile of books against her chest, they almost looked suffocated. That navy plaid skirt still as damn short as he remembered. Gods, she doesn’t even realize if she bends over even the slightest, all will be at risk, for him. This school really needed to overlook its dress-code. And What the hell was that imbecile saying that was making her laugh like a child? It made him unsettled.
“Hellooo, birdbrain to Donna.”Waving a hand over, jerking him back into reality, “You’ll be considered creepy if you keep staring at them like that. Besides, if that guy wants to live, he’ll have to deal with Jon. And boy is he such a protective brother towards her.”
Jon? A protective brother? That was something he never thought he’d never hear. Jon was a child, an oblivious care-free ditz who wasn’t at all threatening or even the slightest way orderant. How come it was his first time hearing about this, Jon never--
Then it clicked
No wonder, Jon didn’t even mention not doing anything with Raven to him. It’s because he didn’t feel the need to. Jon didn’t know anything about the sin, just the mind link. Of course he wouldn’t expect his best friend to lay a finger on his adoptive sister. Yet he already did.
Crap. And that’s when Damian felt a guilt crawl up his skull, “Jon sure did change.” he muttered under his breath holding back a curse.
Unfortunately Donna heard, “Right! But it’s nice seeing Jon like this, he’s always saying he likes having Raven as a sister. I guess he just doesn’t wanna see her get hurt. You should’ve seen his face when the team told him we were planning on telling her who we actually are.”
Damian shot a glare at Donna. “You told her?”
Donna faced her hand towards him, “Relax, she doesn’t know yours or Jon’s identity. After you left, the team except Jon was assigned to help out in defeating her dad. We all became friends--though me and her are the bestest of friends--anyway in the end we told her who we actually were though she was surprised. But she knew I was a wondergirl, something about how coincidentally my eyes were the same blue. Which I’m surprised no one’s ever noticed.”
Damian furrowed his eyebrows, why the hell did that make him bothered. Just knowing that they don’t have any secrets between her, they were free to act how they wanted without any fake personas in the way. As for him, he had to be a Wayne and only a Wayne around her. For multiple reasons.
Truth be told he hasn’t seen Raven since last night, it wasn’t that he was avoiding her. He just hasn’t seen her till now, almost like she was the one avoiding him.
Back in that moment in that cramped closet, every passion, every want all combined together wanting to come out. But he had to keep it under control, it scathe him not to touch her more, not to reach down under her clothes and please her in every way he possibly could. But he couldn't do that. He couldn’t fall vulnerable to whatever the hell he was feeling when she’s near him. It was Raven, for god sakes who was now Jon's adoptive sister.
Dammit. Why does she affect him like this? He never felt defenseless with the women back in Tokyo. Everything in his head kept telling him that it was the sin that was making him like this, the goddamn attachments he had with her. It felt like an urge--a burning one that imprinted in his body that left him eager to not just understand her but to feel every curve of her body.
Gods he sounded pathetic.
Ding Ding Ding
“Crap that’s the bell. Mr. Lawson is going kill if I’m late again, I’ll see you later.” Without responding to Donna, Damian looked back to the area where Raven was with that scum. But they were gone. He cursed under his breath hoping he’d never have to see that again.
Opening the doors of the library to attend his next period, study hall. The same place where he noticed Raven having no idea that day was going to cause havoc a year later. The academy's library was immense, two stories of towering book shelves with the golden lights that came from the ceiling, illuminating the place to give it a sense of ease. Though no student actually liked being here to enjoy literature, just to slouch sleep where they please like sloths.
Damian already felt the eyes of drooling girls staring at him, ignoring them as he walked up the spiral stairs to the second floor. Staying away from everyone. It was rather empty up there wandering to the far end until he noticed Raven. She was in the corner all alone, seated at the floor leaning against the shelved books against the wall. Looked like she wanted to get away from the sea of people too.
Raven was reading that book, that caused their moment back in that closet. He couldn’t miss the texturized grey undertone that had red stones plastered in a circle on the cover. He wasn’t an idiot; he knew what it was for. It wasn’t a coincidence why she was so eager to get it last night after meeting with Robin. Though it was a perfect time to act oblivious.
----
“You know you never did end up telling me what your research was on with that book.”
Oh no.
Raven felt her spine stiffen, lifting her head to see Damian standing there. Gods he looked more defined in the school’s uniform. His sleeves were rolled up exposing his tense arms that were searching her body last night--gods she needed to stop recalling last night. Especially after what she found out. Her words were caught in her throat feeling the air tighten in her lungs. She had to say something, anything.
“Uhm, just some research on my powers.” Her words were stuttered; she couldn’t even look him in the eye. If she did, all she would think about was everything that happened between them. Why did he have to have this study period? Especially after doing a great job at avoiding him.
“Anything I could help with?” Damian set his notebooks to the side, sliding down his body next to hers, keeping just enough space between them.
Help? Like he would know anything about reversing a sin. Or anything about magic. Raven shifted almost automatically, trying to regain that comfort she was in before he came. Oh azar, doesn’t he feel any sort of awkwardness between them. Because gods know that she does. She couldn’t face him, who was she kidding, she made a mistake, afterall she kissed him first. Kissing Damian Wayne was like kissing a prince around here, and she was no princess. She could practically feel the embarrassment skinning her alive.
She chuckles hoping it would ease her nerves. “I don’t think you’ll know anything about...magic.”
Damian scoffed, as if she just told a joke. “I may know a thing or two.”
Yea right. “Hm.” she couldn’t say anything else. She didn’t want to come out as rude but she needed him to get the jist that he needed to get the heck away from here. Especially after what she found out like last. It was the best option. “I have a lot of work to do. You should probably go downstairs, hang out with the high status people. I can’t really have distractions right now.”
So much for trying to sound natural. She just sounded mean.
Damian blinked furrowing his eyebrows completely shocked she even suggested that. For a second she wanted to take it back and just let him be but instead he scoffed, half hearted, “Is that what you think of me? A distraction?”
Yup, he was. And she so badly now wanted to take it back hearing his words cut deep through her chest. “N-no I just can’t concentrate when you’re around.”
Damian seemed unfazed. “Might I remind you, you kissed me last night. I don’t think I’m the one causing the distractions.”
He really mentioned that right now after she was doing anything she can to avoid that subject. Damian was really testing her, he wanted to make it into an enticing argument. And for some reason she was willing to argue. “I might’ve kissed you first but I pulled away. You’re the one who shut me up by kissing me again. So yes! You are distraction, a distraction to my head, and my body, my soul!”
He tilted his head, licking his lips confused, “Your soul?”
Great. After her enticement she just slipped a variable of her research. She had to bring it up now, he was already belittling seeing that she was actually protecting him from her. Cat’s out of the bag once again.
Raven sighed, “Well it has to do with an accidental connection to a sin I set with someone a while back. That’s what this book is for, research on how to reverse it.”
Damian didn’t even look shocked. “And did you figure it out?”
“Almost. I thought this sin wouldn’t have much effect on me. But it does and I found something else….something that partially has to do with why I kissed you last night.” Raven’s grip on the book tightened, biting her lower lip. Feeling a rush of color want to appear.
Damian lifted an eyebrow, but said nothing waiting for her to respond.
Raven shifted the book from her lap to his pointing at a sentence reading it aloud, “The devoted one who unleashes Lust has the stance of the uncontrollable tolerance of the lurement of one whose soul pleases their eye yet if the devoted one is not fully satisfied. Consequences will occur that will lure the lust out of the body itself till the soul cleansed.”
The air seemed to thicken after she read those words. She could feel Damian drift his gaze onto her but she couldn’t look himt. “What does this all mean?”
Damian’s low voice was echoed against her ear. Raven didn’t notice how close they were. They’re bodies could touch simply if one of them moved just the slightest. Looking into him, she was sure he could see the rid of color flowing into her cheeks.
“It means that since I’m the one who made the seal my soul and body has seen searching for the one who attracts it….and that soul happened to be yours. I guess that’s part of the reason why I came on to you so suddenly…. it’s because my soul likes you. So there’s going to be times where I won't feel controlled when I’m only around you.” Her voice was so brittle she could feel it break with embarrassment,  “..but if my soul isn’t fully satisfied when we do stuff like that...then Lust will take over my body until it is. It’s a slight pressure of pleasure mixed with frustration that makes the body ache, it’s almost chastisement.”
His eyebrows knitted together hearing that, “So you’ll be in pain until your soul is satisfied.”
Raven nodded her head, gods this would be easier if he was an abnormal being of some kind. But no her soul just had to be attracted to a person who’s human. “This is why you can’t be near me anymore. I can’t have my morals be acting on its own when it sees you. It could want you at any given time and I don’t want to put you through—”
“Use me.”
Raven’s eyes widen, “What?”
--
For gods sake what was he saying. It was as if his words were a reflex all on its own.
Damian bit his lower lip, looking into her eyes. It was a whole universe in them. He didn’t want to see those same eyes in pain, afterall he caused her so much agony for a year with his unruly intimacy with women.
His voice was soft, a cautious tone simmering between them both, “Use me. Do what you want. If I know it’ll help you to not feel agony then I’ll take it.”
Did he have any idea what he was saying. Or why he was willing to help her as Damian? He shouldn’t be meddling, she made a simple request for him so why wasn’t he just letting it go. It was one thing to deal with Raven as Robin but now dealing with her like this.
It was complicated, more than that. But he didn’t care.
“Damian I can’t--”
Raven couldn’t even get her sentence out, the next thing she knew Damian’s lips were on hers. Every nerve in his body wanted to shut her up and accept his request without telling her twice. He didn’t want to hear a rejection, he just wanted her to take it before he regretted saying it. Grasping her chin under his thumb in a light kiss, careful not to startle her away. Yet she wasn’t. Releasing his rough lips from hers, their lips were still close enough where they were merely touching.
The collide of amethyst and emerald taking in each other’s eyes to admire everything that held a universe in them. The library was so silent Damian was sure he could hear her heartbeat, if not his too. Raven’s hands were at her sides yet he found it within himself wanting to feel her grips everywhere. The tension was breaking him already missing the awkward lingering traces of her lips onto his. “Damian.”
The sound of the book from his lap was heard hitting the floor. Wrapping an arm around her shoulder, drawing her closer to him. His senses being filled with her scent of jasmine that he couldn’t get enough of.
“Don’t...don’t say another word. Just let me.”
With that Damian imprinted his lips onto hers. Savoring the way her soft lips felt against his rough ones, it was awkward yet searching. The heat that was exposing both of them, dragging kiss after kiss. Until they bathed in each other’s taste.
Raven’s lips pressed deeper into his. Her kisses electrocuting his body making him ache everything he wanted to do to back in that cramped closet. Raven groaned against his mouth feeling his tarrying tongue wet her bottom lip begging for entrance. Graciously inviting him, as she gripped the fronts of his white oxford harshly.
She wanted this. Or more like her soul did, and he knew it. He could sense it. For fucks sake he was just grateful that she couldn’t sense what he was feeling. Whatever it was, he didn’t even know it himself.
Feeling Raven’s teeth nibbling on Damian’s bottom lip, he grunted against her mouth. His rough hands behind her soft hair, “My soul..it...it wants you.” Raven muttered in between the drowning kisses, her voice was so fragile he was it could break.
He needed to fulfill her soul. And by gods he wanted to do more than just that right now.
Taking a sense of their awkward position, Damian gripped her lower waist guiding her to his lap. His cock twitched feeling her skirt riding up her thighs. Fuck this felt good.
Damian licked his lips, watching Raven’s breaths caught in her throat, staring into her through her heavy-lidded eyes. He wanted to take a moment and enjoy every little breathless exhale she took. Her cheeks were reigning with color, her grip against his shirt was tight. Almost like she was keeping him hold, and to say he liked it. The perfect bun she had was now a tangled mess but yet still she didn’t look a mess. Hell, she looked goddamn irresistible.
Slowly guiding his lips to her neck, tasting her flesh that was just as honeyed as her lips. Without a thought Damian found himself reaching for her ponytail that held her bun and easily pulled it away from her silk hair. Raven’s head leaned back, biting her lower lip from letting a vulnerable sound escape her lips. Damian’s tongue was hot and lasting that dug aimless trails, stopping at various points to bite down her flesh. Her skin tasted as if it was sprinkled with sugar, every lick better than the last. He could feel Raven shiver with every bite he plastered on her neck.
“Damian.”
The way she said his name--why did his name sound so angelic when she said it. It could drive him mad if she continued saying his name with her husky breath that swirled with anticipation.
He wanted to feel that pleasure that was too goddamn good last night. Recalling the way her hips rolled onto his, stopping her, before he knew he would risk it all if she continued. But he didn’t care anymore, he was throbbing for her and he was sure she could feel him.
Working his hands down her body, digging his fingers into her hips. He took the pleasure of guiding, rocking her hips onto his cock. Raven jerked and let go of a stifled noise, her teeth sinking into her lower lip.
How can something so unright feel too goddamn good.
Damian could feel her damp panties against his trousers. His cock responding to every roll that was given. Raven’s mouth fell open, wanting every sound to escape. Damian could see the pleasure takeover her eyes, desperately hearing the soft pants that could echo the library if she wasn’t quite. But shit, how he want to hear her plead, if only they were in a more secluded area. Thankfully no one during this period was scavenging for a book or even cared to look for one while they were all far away from any sightful crowd.
“Wouldn’t want people to hear us, Raven. Try to stay quiet for me.” His voice a rumbling growl against her lower ear. Yet she was only able to nod, closing her eyes as her nails were tugging at his hair that made him growl. Continuing his motions every swipe against her aching pussy sliding along his cock.
Raven chewed onto her bottom lip, only letting small mutters come out. Her shaky breath as her hand trailing down his hard chest. Without noticing what she was doing he felt her fingers brush against his cock. Twitching at the feel wanting her to pump him through his trousers, but she didn’t, instead she did something he didn’t expect.
Fuck.
Damian couldn’t look away as Raven slid her hand under her skirt. Grunted something explicit in variable languages that he knew she didn’t know. Wanting to see what the hell she was doing but he could feel her fingers desperately pull aside her panties. Oh shit. His cock was painfully growing to her motives, feeling her pussy, she was so much more soak than he imagined. He may be fully clothed, this was enough. At least enough to drive his pulsing cock aching to be let out from his trousers.
His fingers buried into her white blouse, surely leaving marks, and fastening his pace. Pulling her roughly down onto him desperately. Heat curled up his spine, feeling it wasn’t just him controlling her hips anymore. She started to frantically move into his hands with him. Increasing his pace,, again and again, over and over, without stopping--
Oh, fuck was that a sight.
Raven’s mouth falling open, her eyes barely staying open staring into him. It was as if she wanted to say something but all she was able to concede was the sounds that sounded so mellow that were aching to be louder.
Raven groaned “A-ah..!--” A moan that was too loud leaked from her mouth but quick to her response. She shut herself up overthrowing the back of her palm onto her mouth. Biting down her eyes shut, muffling cries. Sweat that seemed to glisten on her skin feeling the sizzling heat of her body attached to him. She looked helpless, eager for him. Almost at the edge.
Damian shivered feeling Raven’s hand below his navel. She looked down at their doing and back at him, her body may have been pleading more but her eyes. Her eyes said something else. Slowing down his pace hesitantly. He wanted these moments to burn into his mind longer, but he knew why she made him stop. Even though she couldn’t say it herself, he knew.
Taking her hand away from her mouth slowly. He leaned forward into her, pressing his lips onto hers softly. Feeling the missed contact of her soft, wet, now bruised lips from all the biting down she did on herself. Tangling his fingers into her hair, cradling her cheek. Damian wanted to ease those marks, licking slowly across her lips. Raven’s eyes were open the whole time not wanting to miss a second of his doings, not like he minded anyway. He liked staring into her eyes.
A silence stretched between them after not quite sure who should speak first. Though Damian could feel she was embarrassed with her cheeks still filled with color, her head dropped taking her gaze from him. “I-I think it’s satisfied..”
Oh right. Damian bit back a curse remembering that was the main reason why their bodies reattached on it’s own. Why they’re in another particular situation anyway. Yet even though she said her body is content, she didn’t move away. They were still in this position that seemed all their own. He could still feel all of her, if he kept feeling her pussy pressed against his trousers any longer, he wasn’t sure if he could contain himself.
“Right. You won’t be in pain then?” He tried his best to make his expression unreadable, not wanting her to realize how much it was restraining him to kiss her.
Raven shook her head, “I don’t think so, it would’ve happened by now.” her words were stumbled when she looked down at their laps. “U-uhm, I should probably move from your lap.” Damian could feel himself grin seeing the rush of heat maneuver it’s way up to her face. Sensing a bashful Raven a mile away yet it was an interesting view to see.
“Mm.” Feeling this thighs lighten from her small weight, yet something was clearly seen on his dark grey pants. Damn She really was soaked. The darken area around his cock that was quite noticeable if someone would stare too long. Though Raven seemed to notice rather quickly,
Raven pushed her hands to her cheeks, shaking her words. “Shoot I-I’m so sorry. I didn’t know I was going to leave a stain or that I was going to do that. Azar, I’m sorry you probably don’t have an extra pair of--”
Damian cut her off, “Relax, it’s okay. I have workouts next period. It shouldn’t be a problem. Alfred always packs a spare uniform in my duffle bag.”
Raven tilted her head relieved but confused. “Alfred?”
“He’s my family’s butler, more of a friend though. He always keeps me prepared.” Truth was Alfred made him keep an extra pair of everything at school in case he lost some of his uniform when having to transform into Robin during dangerous times.
“Oh, a butler. That’s nice of him.”
Damian grunted, stretching his body to come up to fix his oxford that crinkled from Raven’s grasp, though not like he mind. “Yea it is.”
Damian looked at Raven who was trying to fix herself, adjusting the hem of her plaid skirt as well as the wrinkles from her white blouse. His eyes drifting through her plush skin until it stopped at the noticeable bite he left that soon bruised on the side of her neck. Raven didn’t even notice them. Fuck did she have to look so densely cunning, if he didn’t tell her she would be a walking mark of his own. Though that was a thought. That he somewhat enjoyed thinking.
But that wasn’t what he was meant to supply her with. He wasn’t even supposed to touch her, afterall there was also Jon to think about.
Damian clears his throat, “You should probably cover those up. I went a little far.” eyeing at the marks.
Raven brought her hand to her neck where he was referring, “Oh right, I’ll heal them right now. Jon would lose it, if he found out. ” Damian only managed to nod not wanting the guilt to skin him. Raven ended up letting a soft chuckle, muttering lowly under her breath, “Can’t have that happen again.”
What? She may have not wanted him to hear her. But he did. Has someone else left marks on her? Or done something even remotely the same. But it shouldn’t even bother him, what’s it to him. He was only meant to supply her in satisfaction. So why did he feel the need to pry into that statement.
“Have you ever done something like this before with someone to make him pissed off?” He tried his best to choose his words wisely not wanting to sound like a questionable gossip.
Raven chuckled awkwardly, “No I haven’t done something like that before with anyone.” she paused. “More like Jon got ragingly mad after a friend of mine kissed me a few months ago.”
“Who?”
“Roy Harper. He came after you left.”
Donna thought they could be friends. Hell he didn’t even need to get to know him. That name was already dead to him.

Hospital Visit
Pairing: Sam Alexander x Reader
Word Count: 2.3K
Warnings: None
Summary: Peter’s doctor is a total babe, according to Sam, the perfect reason to pursue her, even if that means faking an injury.
Author’s Note: This would’ve been posted sooner if I could think of a good title. I still don’t think it’s that great but I can’t have this in my drafts any longer or I will scream.
As a medic in training, you were only allowed to treat the agents who had superficial injuries on your own. It helped you gain experience and also gave you the confidence to treat someone if you were faced with a situation where there were too many patients for the senior healers to handle.
The lack of responsibility was of course because of your age. Being sixteen, people didn’t really think you could handle yourself or do anything beneficial for a patient. But you had seen more bloodshed as a child that you knew how to handle many things in an operating theatre.
S.H.I.E.L.D. found you when you were barely through puberty, working as a medic in your father’s underground fight club. You treated a lot of the fighters and they were surprised at your level of skill for a young girl.
They gave you an opportunity to live a life, which was more than your father had. To him you were always just a nurse, but S.H.I.E.L.D. gave you an opportunity to go to school, even make a living from working on the Helicarrier. You were a child in their eyes and it had been a while since you felt so.
You didn’t have to go through the stress or difficulties that a doctor went through on a regular day. However, there were those days where the lights began flashing red and it was all hands-on deck while patient after patient passed through the door, being injured in an alien attack. Or a super-villain attack. Or a corrupt-organization-that-was-trying-to-destroy-Nick-Fury attack.
It was never just a case of the common cold.
But I guess that’s what would make your job interesting. You couldn’t speak for the spandex-clad, super-powered, adrenaline junkies that called themselves superheroes but your job had enough excitement for you.
So much so that you swore one day they’d be treating you for a heart attack.
However, you learned to be less surprised whenever there was a sudden need for medics. Of course, you were more likely to treat those with the superficial wounds, that usually consisted of the superheroes and you were usually in charge of Spiderman, who you had grown comfortable with to call your own patient.
The other medics knew this and so they would always send him your way, unless it was bad, which it never was. Spiderman was reckless, but luckily for him he never got badly hurt.
That was such a case today, the team had gone after the sinister 6 and quite frankly gotten their asses handed to them, landing themselves in the medical bay.
“Hey Peter.” You smiled at the boy lying on the bed once you came in, looking at the clipboard in your hand. He was pretty lucky, he came out relatively unscathed as compared to his teammates, only with a few bruises and cuts, but luckily nothing was broken.
You couldn’t imagine how. Especially when they were getting thrown around like rag-dolls.
“Take off your shirt and we can get to the stiches; I’ll be right back.” You told him, heading to get your cart.
“Psst, Web-head!” Sam called from the bed beside him and Peter turned with a raised brow.
“Switch with me!”
“What? Why?”
“Cuz your doctor is a total babe.”
“I wouldn’t recommend that. (Y/N) really doesn’t like it when something messes up her flow.” That was a total lie. You usually just went with the flow, but Peter saw no advantage in telling him that.
Sam rolled his eyes in response, leaving his bed and bringing the medical report along with him, “I’ve been wanting to talk to her for a month now. You have to let me have this.”
“What’s in it for me?” Asked Spiderman, folding his arms in a smug way and leaning back against the pillow.
“I’ll do your share of next 10 mission reports.”
Peter practically leaped from the bed, “Sold! Good luck lover-boy!”
The two switched quickly before you had returned, swapping medical reports as well and you returned with your medical cart, setting it up without realizing that your patient had changed.
“Okay Pete, let’s see what—You’re not my patient.” You blurted, slightly confused and you rechecked the room, confirming that it was in fact the cubicle you were assigned.
“Where’s Peter?”
“Oh, he asked for another doctor.” Sam explained, watching your brows furrow in concern. A brief wave of insecurity flashed through you. Were you not competent enough?
“It’s not ‘cuz of you!” He was quick to explain, “He just though the other doctor was hot.”
With a raised brow you looked down the aisle and locked eyes with Spiderman who grinned and waved at you.
“...He thinks Dr. Sanders is hot? Does Peter know he’s married? And straight?”
Sam just shrugged innocently and you sighed, grabbing the report and doing a once-over. Nothing too bad, a bruised rib, and a few shallow cuts that needed dressing.
“Alright, hum, Mr. Alexander, I need you to take your shirt off so I can dress your wounds. Would that be okay with you?”
You didn’t miss the way his face turned red at your words and you almost chuckled. He shyly began to take off his uniform and you turned away, giving him privacy and began taking out the dressing and antiseptic.
“You can call me Sam, we’re around the same age anyway.” He muttered, face still alarmingly red and you nodded, sending him a reassuring smile.
The two of you sat in silence as you dressed his wounds, telling him to come back whenever the bandages have gotten soiled so you can re-dress them.
“You might want to lay back on the physical activity for a week or so, to let your rib heal and make sure you don’t open any of the cuts. You can come back after a week and we can see if it’s healed enough on its own or if we’ll have to interfere.” You told him, taking off your gloves and discarding them, along with some other waste.
“If you have any pain or trouble breathing then come see me and I can give you some pain medication or assign you some respiration therapy.”
He nodded carefully and whatever doubts you had of him not listening faded and you smiled, pulling open the curtains that surrounded the bed, “Well then, nice meeting you Sam, I hope you get well soon.”
His eyes widened. That’s it? That got over way too soon! He never even got the chance to make you fall for his undeniable charm. He had to think of something. Fast.
“W-Wait!”
You halted in your steps, turning around to face the hero, “Do you need anything?”
“Um, yeah! I have a pain! Like a really bad pain, right here.” He said, pointing vaguely to his chest and you frowned, looking at the report once again.
“Your CT doesn’t show anything about an issue with the heart. If it’s with the mudcle then why didn’t you say anything earlier?”
“I thought it would go away so I didn’t say anything but it’s, um, become a lot more painful.”
“Okay, let me have a look then.” You said, pulling on a pair of gloves and coming closer to him. His ears started turning red just from your presence.
Sam had the biggest crush on you ever since he saw you the day the Helicarrier had gone down. You were rushing to gather whatever supplies you could, knowing you’d have to treat the survivors after the attack of Zodiac.
He had tried to get you out of there but you refused, trying to gather whatever you could and stuffing it into your bag before you absolutely had to leave.
“I’m trying to save you!” He had shouted at you, frustrated that you kept struggling in his grip, and told him to get the others out.
“And I have to save countless others! But I can’t do any of that without supplies!” You replied, not even taking a second to stop your work. He sighed but eventually listened, rushing to help all the other agents out of the Helicarrier. The Helicarrier had turned on its side by the time.
You shrieked, losing your grip and you slid down. You tried to hold onto something, anything but it was all in vain as you eventually dropped towards the bottom.
You took a deep breath and shielded your head, trying to angle your body into a safer angle before you felt yourself floating.
Your eyes slowly fluttered open, you hadn’t realized that you had screwed them tightly in fear but the first thing you saw was a blue glow and then you were moving so fast you couldn’t see anything.
Before you knew it, you were on the shore. You couldn’t afford to be discombobulated and instead to opened your bag, getting to the nearest patient and handing the supplies to your senior who had been doing First Aid.
“I never did get to thank you.” You whispered, trying not to startle him suddenly as you gently pressed your fingers to where he was saying was hurting.
He froze before relaxing, “I didn’t think you remembered.”
“Of course, I would. You saved my life.” You argued, brows furrowing when you didn’t see any reaction from him as you pressed down onto the muscle. He didn’t so much as flinch.
“And you’ve saved countless others. I should be thanking you.” He replied and you were grateful that he wasn’t looking at you so he couldn’t see your cheeks turn red.
“It’s nothing compared to what you do, I don’t think I’d ever be able to have enough courage to run around fighting villains. You’re very brave.”
He shook his head firmly, “Don’t sell yourself short, you have enough confidence for other people to put their lives in your hands.”
“I don’t do much.” You murmured, embarrassed. You had long forgotten that you were supposed to be checking for any injuries, instead focusing on his chest and your eyes settled on his muscles.
He wasn’t anything too special but it certainly wasn’t didn’t hurt to look either.
“You do a lot, more than others and that’s what’s important. You don’t have to be a superhero to be a good person.” He said and you found yourself stilling. He was right. You didn’t really expect something so deep to come out of his mouth since, according to peter, he could have his head filled with air and nothing would change.
“I guess you’re right,” You said, peeling off your gloves, “There isn’t anything wrong with you, Sam. I don’t know why you were trying to feign an injury but I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt.”
Your teasing tone brought a smile to his face when he thought he might end up in trouble. It didn’t stop his face from turning red.
“Would you, um, want to hang out with me sometime? Like a date?”
Your face turned and his heart sank, “As much as I would, it’s unprofessional for a doctor to date a patient.”
“And if I were to switch back with Peter? And never ever get treated by you again?” His face was so hopeful and vulnerable at the same time. The smile you sent him was enough of an answer.
The grin he sent you had butterflies erupting in your stomach.
“I’ll be right back!”
In the end, Sam had to do 20 of Peter’s mission reports, along with 20 of his own, but they were all worth it when he saw the smile you sent him as you exchanged numbers.
Oh yes, it was all worth it.
5 YEARS LATER
“Sam would you calm down? You look like you’re gonna jump to the ceiling.” Peter said, amused as Sam’s eyes continued to dart around the airport like a meercat.
Peter was completely taking advantage of today. Sam was so distracted that any comments he had completely flew over his head, giving Peter the freedom to spit as many insults as he wanted.
Sam wasn’t the least bothered. He was too distracted. His eyes locked onto the gate where he saw all the passengers leaving and he bounced on the toes of his feet trying to see above the damn crowd.
Who was he waiting so anxiously for? Of course, it was his girlfriend who was coming back to New York for summer. Her university had generously given 2 months of vacation before the next year and he was going to take full advantage of those 2 months.
You had gone to Medical School to get officially certified so you could perform operations and other such things legally, unlike how you had been doing so the past few years.
It was only a few more years until you were completely qualified (in the eyes of the law) to perform trauma surgery, which was the field you were going to specialize in.
Between you studying non-stop and him saving the world non-stop, you never had the time to see each other. That didn’t stop him from flying out sometimes, for coffee dates.
But this time you would be coming home and he would have 2 months of your undivided attention. The mere thought of that had a grin forming on his face, so wide that his cheeks hurt.
As soon as he saw you, his heart leapt out of his chest as he waited for you to make eye contact with him. Sure enough, your eyes did scan the crowd and you did manage to overlook him a couple of times due to the crowd but once you caught sight of him there was nothing stopping you from bolting towards him.
It was kind of awkward because you were lugging your suitcase behind you but that was the last thing you cared about once you were enveloped in his arms and you sighed in the feeling of home.
“I missed you so much.” You muttered, holding onto him tightly and he did the same. Maybe you were causing a scene but that was hardly any of your worries as you burrowed yourself closer to him.
“Right back at you.” He said breathlessly, pressing kisses to your clothed shoulder. It felt so good to be home.
“Are you two gonna move anytime soon? Cuz I have a movie to catch.”
You groaned, “Piss off, Parker!”
This is the second one-shot where I ended it with Spidey getting yelled at...maybe this is just gonna be my thing?
