Listen I'm all for using multiple pronouns, go crazy, it's not up to me to decide how you wanna live your life, but-
If you use different pronouns for the same person, IN THE SAME SENTENCE, I'm going to automatically think it's a different person
"She thought that they said-" sounds like two different people please

I am very curious about your version of Graves, I want to hear a detailed run down from you on how he’d be like in a romantic situation, would he commit? would he get married? would he “fall in love”, would he want a trophy wife to show off? I am just very curious and would love to hear you speak about this. I want to know what he’d be like if he actually did commit to a long term relationship or marriage, and what kind of woman would make him commit if so? I personally feel like he’d get married to a woman who works alongside him in shadow company, it just makes sense for him to get with somebody who is on the same level of psychopathy as him and understands his actions and behaviour, more so, he’d love being around a woman like that in my opinion. somebody who is as intelligent and knows how PMC’s work and can help him manage it too.
This is a good question! Sorry it took a while work has been absolutely insane. Like 60+ work weeks and now I have Hurricane Beryl headed my way! I use she/her pronouns just because that’s what I wrote my fic about but I think it certainly applies the other way around, too! 😉 I also found out after copy-pasting I've exceeding the character limit so this is part 1! Triggers for mentions of domestic violence and dubcon.
ALSO: This is my version of Graves based on what I know and based on the limited information we have. Another anon post said I had Graves wrong, a different opinion. Totally okay! We all have our own versions of him.
Graves in a romantic situation. This is a difficult one. I think it would be very difficult for Graves to differentiate between romance/love and possessiveness. In a fic I wrote, Graves decides OC is his immediately upon meeting her. I think he would be similarly inclined in the civilian world. I’m not sure if he could a civilian could handle Graves, to be honest ☹But he would be similarly possessive. When this type of man (narcissistic with a touch of psychopathy/sociopathy, and if I’m honest, just a little sadism) is deeply interested in a woman, he gets her one way or another.
My version of Graves likely wouldn’t give his chosen partner a choice. In the military, he’d use his clearances (and his Shadows!) to keep track of her. He’d treat a civilian the same way. He’d follow her and then act like: “Hey! Weird running into you here!” when in his head he’s thinking, “I better not see you talking with any other men.”
I think he would commit/not cheat but not for the reasons normal people would. He would commit because he’s obsessed. He would commit because stalking someone and making sure they don’t escape you once you have a hold of them is like two full-time jobs even with his Shadows. And if we’re talking about a female I can see Graves being worried about said female trying to seduce a Shadow to let her go. If she’s on the smaller side, there’s the risk of her slipping out somewhere. His mobile job would help in the sense that his wife would be clueless as to where she was most of the time. She would never go anywhere alone. He’s got a PMC to run. And when he has down time, he’s tired.
He would love showing off his wife. In a fic I wrote he does just that. He would marry to legally tie his wife to him. And in COD, to make it a legal barrier for her to testify against him. She wouldn’t have a choice. I can totally see him pregnancy trapping his wife to further trap her with him. He’d say there was no way she’d leave and take his children and she’s not going to leave her children behind so she stays. I can’t say him mentioning his kids too much as he realizes they would be a bigger target for his enemies. Even Graves has a bit of a heart when it comes to kids.
I see Graves having more of a traditionalist especially since he’s a conservative type from Texas. I'm a Texan living in Texas y'all: Graves is typical down here (but most of them aren't as good looking!) I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s the type to think: the man works, the wife stays home, raises kids, and spends all her time with her husband when he’s home. However, I can also see him wanting to keep said wife busy so her mind isn’t on escape. After kiddos start entering scene, I see him putting her on intel or something like that. Work from home, ma'am.
Graves would absolutely be attracted to intelligence because Graves is smart. Generally, if there is a big mismatch between intelligence (IQ) between parties, they struggle with not only communication but common interests. I think he would want any children he has to inherit that intelligence and continue his company.
An upside (I guess?): Graves is rich as fuck. His wife would have everything and anything she wants (except freedom, ha).
-OC wants an SUV to transport the kids on base? "Sure, darlin’ I already ordered a top-model Audi/Porche." (By the way, when traveling off base, she and the kids are in a military, armored vehicle with no windows. Graves knows his enemies will try to target them.)
-OC wants to be in a home-like environment on base to give the kids somewhat of a normal life? "Of course, sweetheart. Custom built. Whaddaya want?" (No way they would ever live in a normal neighborhood, too risky.)
-OC asks about schooling since they’re constantly moving around. “Don’t worry about it, love. Paid private school, one-on-one attention online and one-on-one in-person attention in the US. I’m not putting them in the shitty public school system. I want them in military universities.” (Plus, they’d start their military education young.)
I think that Graves, like most full-blood psychopaths/sociopaths as well as those who have a touch of it like Graves, he would equate giving his wife whatever she wanted (except freedom!), any material thing she wanted as well as his kids the best of everything with love. He’d equate sex, even dubcon sex, as love.
Now, more about kids. He’d want the best for his kids but there’s no damn way the kids would get whatever they wanted. He’s got some psychopath in him (see Graves Defragged posts as to why, based on the info we have, he does not score high enough on the psychopathy scale) so he’d literally shape his kids’ (and his wife’s tbh) behavior with positive reinforcement because that is what he responds to. Being a narcissist, he believes everyone thinks like him and that everyone responds to positive reinforcement (but in reality there are other ways of shaping behavior like negative reinforcement, negative punishment, and positive punishment). He literally cannot empathize or put himself in someone else’s shoes (again, see Graves Defragged posts). It’s not that he feels guilt/empathize and chooses to ignore it. This man’s brain is physically wired differently and cannot, cannot, CANNOT feel it. So of course he’d think positive reinforcement is the only way to shape behavior.
Now, Graves’s version of discipline. Yikes. Do I see Graves hitting his partner? Absolutely. Graves is in general not impulsive, especially when it comes to important, long-term decisions. For my Criminal Minds fans, he'd be an organized serial killer, not a disorganized one if that helps. His brain structure is different so his limbic system (the more animalistic part of our brains) can be overwhelming to him and I can see this overtaking his prefrontal lobes (PFC) when emotions are involved. What happens? He will lash out with violence, like, with little warning. (I can write another post as to how most homicides are actually crimes of passion, between people who know each other and not planned out/between strangers like the media/TV shows make it out to be.) He will hit his wife, hard, if she gets (what he deems to be) “out of line.” I can’t really see him doing it all the time. But I can definitely see that if his partner pisses him off enough, that partner can easily spend a few nights in a hospital. Yes, Graves sees his wife as somewhat below him: someone needing guidance, direction, and discipline.
For the kids: He’s the disciplinarian, no doubt and the kids go to mom for comfort. Mom gets in the way? He’ll shove her at the least. I can’t really see him seriously hurting his kids. His kids are half him and he’s narcissistic, remember?
There’s emotion involved and based on what I’ve been trained in, men like Graves can only feel two emotions strongly: joy…and rage. We’ve all gotten angry and done/said something we regretted. Imagine that tenfold with an overactive limbic system and some glitches in the frontal lobes.
Now: In one of my darker fics, Graves writes (and then burns) a letter to OC where he starts to feel some kind of guilt. But, xxavengingangelxx, you said he couldn’t feel that! I know 😉 But we all love somewhat happy endings, right? We all love seeing Graves with somewhat of a human side. That’s why I added that little tidbit even though in real life, he wouldn’t be able to feel that. In my fic he’d continue to blame OC for what she went through because “she should’ve talked when we first got her.”
Wow, ok. Two pages of this. I need to shut up. I went to school for this, I trained in this, I see this every day, and I read on average a book a week on this topic. I’m obsessed fascinated!
Anon, I hope I answered both your questions 😊 Any other questions, let me know!

Compilation of disorganized facts (and derived headcanons) about The Henry Stickmin Collection's "narrator"
First thing’s first, since I typed more than I should’ve for a single bullet point.
Who is this “narrator” anyways?
In this post I’m talking about the implied source of the fail screens, bios, and certain other interactions in the game (which I’ll get into as we go. It’s implied that this character is the same across these different sources of meta interactions.
It is possible that this character is a self-insert of PuffballsUnited, but for the sake of this post we'll assume that this isn't Actually Puff. I feel weird tying my blorbo detail-plucking thoughts to an actual person and don’t want anyone making assumptions about Puff based on anything listed here, plus certain things may be added, exaggerated, omitted, etc. to the character for comedic effect in a way that further delineates the two. (tl;dr narrator ≠ author)
The wiki (derogatory) notes a theory that this character could be Wilson Stone. Granted, it’s not an entirely groundless theory: there is no message on the fail screen for D.E.B., which could be seen as a result of Wilson dying. I disagree with this for a couple of reasons: Wilson is referred to in the third person in his bio, the narrator makes a disdainful comment about the CCC having a surplus of nukes in CtM (there’s little reason for Wilson to be opposed to nukes but not a dark energy bomb), and Wilson’s voice is different from the narrator’s (I’ll get to that later).
The general fandom consensus that I've seen uses "the narrator", but this character/being/whatever isn't known by any name officially, nor any pronouns. For simplicity's sake, I'll refer to this character as "the meta" or “the meta voice” and use they/them and it/its interchangeably for them (partly to distinguish from the large surplus of male characters). I prefer “meta” over “narrator” and “commentator” because it doesn’t really narrate anything, it gives more than just commentary, and just because it rolls off the tongue better.
More on the meta
It comments frequently on Henry’s stupidity, but it’s hard to truly baffle them. Not that Henry hasn’t managed to before in fails such as Cheese and Distract.
Getting the obvious out of the way, they’re known to crack jokes of all sorts, including memes, wordplay, references, & callbacks.
Lots of these jokes are at the expense of Henry, the player, or someone else. It frequently makes disparaging comments about the player or Henry in general; more common jabs include fatphobic comments toward Henry or making fun of the player’s poor skill.
Speaking of Henry and the player, it typically uses “you” for both you (the player) and Henry himself, but it does also differentiate between us and Henry, such as in the Duplicatorange fail and Toppy fails, even noting you to not be a stick figure
Not only are they aware of the player and Henry as separate, but they’re also aware that you’re playing a game.
The meta seems to have the most control over the timeline, including what counts as a “fail” and when a fail cuts off, as shown in the duplicatorange and invisibility pill fails.
It has a certain amount of control over the nature of the game itself. The slingshot fail in FtC has them creating various popups that the player must click through to get an achievement. This power isn’t limitless though: the CorrupTick fail in particular shows that things can fall out of their control.
They’re capable of summoning objects (this is implied in Dance Off v4 and outright confirmed in the Lockpick fail).
The free transform option also shows that it has the ability to directly alter people in-universe. The mind control fail implies that it may also be able to outright control people to an extent, but finds this difficult and thus avoids doing so.
They seem to exist in a flux state between being “the game master” and simply being a bystander. It knows at least a little bit about nearly every character in the game and has some control over the environment, but it also reacts to events as though it’s just a spectator and seeing things for the first time.
On a related note, they seem to be in a state between being “in” the game and existing outside of it. Things that would wipe out everyone in the vicinity have no effect on it, but things that alter things on a meta level (such as the corrupted disk, Goodball, and CorrupTick fails) do affect them in various ways.
They aren’t omniscient. They have info on nearly everyone, but they don’t know everything. A lot of their comments in fails seem to be guesswork, and their bios for some people, notably Ellie, are very lacking.
It can feel pain. They complain about their ears hurting from the high pitched sound of the sonic pulse. At the same time, it isn’t nearly as sensitive as Henry or other stick figures and can survive the subsonic wave with little consequence.
It can, supposedly, use the bathroom.
The duplicatorange and invisibility pill both imply that the meta voice has some sentimental attachment to Henry, triggering a fail screen whenever they lose track of Henry.
Related to the above, it seems to have a vested interest in keeping Henry alive, despite having killed Henry themself. Revenged is notable as an ending for the fact that Henry dies in every outcome, and The Betrayed isn’t much better in this regard.
It also shows mild concern for Henry’s wellbeing in RPE/RBH, asking him if his head is okay.
While it’s unknown if they know all languages, they do at least seem to know German, specifically commenting on Friedrich Spielen’s nonsensical German.
They can sleep and even dream; in the G-inverter fail they comment that they “had a nightmare like this”. It’s unknown whether they need sleep or if sleep is simply recreational for them.
I don’t know if the above indicates that they used to be affected by gravity or if they simply had a dream about being affected by gravity, but given their ability to simply hover at a point in the air or even outer space, they probably aren’t affected by gravity at any point that we know them.
The meta is aware of other timelines, making a reference to Charles during the helicopter fail in Toppat King.
While it doesn’t have a known physical appearance, it does occasionally emote with hand-drawn “emoticons”, some of which are even animated.
On rare occasions, it can conjure Twitch emotes or even a full animation of a stick figure.
Feel free to add if you think of anything!

"pronouns refer to a person's sex" is such an english speaker statement
omg i just lost my frenchie status... i got englishified.
do you call all non-human animals you love they/them pronouns? why do you use she/her for some and he/him for the others? where do you think she/her and he/him pronouns came from, why would we have a need to differentiate between two different body types?
i am all for calling transfems she/her and transmascs he/him and calling anyone they/them pronouns if they prefer! i do with many of my trans radfem & nuancefem friends. i think in part, it can even be a character customization thing, it just feels more comfortable and says fuck you to gender roles so i respect that. that's 100% valid. but you can't deny that you probably don't use they/them for everyone, right...? do you have any criteria? does that criteria possibly reinforce sexist rhetoric about anyone gnc being less of a man/woman? i think it should be up to trans people to communicate their needs when they form friendships or enter spaces they wish to connect with others in. pronouns pins are great, and simply "i use [pronouns], what about you?" without only targeting the visibly gnc people in the room. because that can feel very uncomfortable, lemme tell ya. i think you may feel like saying that pronouns are typically used to denote one's sex, one's perceived body type, means that trans people can't happily be properly gendered by people who love them and can't be respected. but that simple fact isn't a threat to trans people! we can recognize that ppl use pronouns to typically denote body types while also encouraging trans allyship. the two aren't alien to one another.

❝ if you could choose to be anything after death, what would you be? ❞ star eulogy is a hyper-extended version of headspace, made real upon sunny’s death in the bad ending.
content warning: this blog contains heavy spoilers for omori, suicide, cannibalism and general dark themes.
pinned post updated as of: august 17, 2024
Tumblr media
this blog follows a porcelain doll that holds sunny’s consciousness, as he finds any way to pass the time. cursed with immortality, he’s been alive for centuries.
sealed at the bottom of the universe, sunny’s made highly questionable decisions in his past, leading to his imprisonment, and his failure to acknowledge the truth. as he learnt that fateful day, you can’t hide from the truth, even in a different life.
sunny’s open for asks. keep him entertained?
this au has been in development for over a year. from a discord server, to multiple threads, to art between a few people. i finally decided to make a blog for the au, after months of writing.
Tumblr media
currently available:
sunny, the porcelain doll (tag)
??? ??????? (???? ???????)
????????? ????? (???????????)
Tumblr media
no nsfw asks, anon gifts are allowed, interactions with other blogs are highly appreciated and encouraged.
you are absolutely welcome to make fun games using anon magic, as long as you label yourself (if on anon). this is runs on an honour system, do not impersonate each other, do not cause drama via. my inbox.
reminder that the character ≠ the writer, sunny has a disorder that effects his behaviour and how he interacts with other people. sunny is not an accurate representative of the cluster-b disorder he has - it’s dramatized after centuries. of being in blackspace.
this au is closed, and is not allowing other characters to join in. (for example, you cannot make a star eulogy aubrey account and interact with people.)
feel free to ask as other characters if you don’t have a blog to do it, just add:
- (emoji) (character name)
and i’ll tag it. feel free to get crafty! i encourage alternates/variants of a character coming to ask, sunny here is aware of the different universes.
(same works for consistent anons. if you want sunny to remember you, then add an sign off in the same style.)
now, if you’re struggling with asking questions, you now have a silly little prompt list! it’s fun, speedy interactions you can get with sunny!
Tumblr media
NOT LORE RELATED
# princess arc (ongoing?)
# royal ball event (finished)
# tea party event (finished)
LORE RELATED ARCS
... huh. i didn’t do any yet.
sometimes i might not tag things properly! please remind me to add a tag if i forget.
LORE POSTS
alternates, variants, sunny’s thoughts
sunny’s feelings on hero
would sunny date each variant? (with honest opinions and his thoughts)
jobs that sunny had in the past
sunny’s favourite universe so far
flowerwaltz in star eulogy
bounty hunting
florians (species)
blackspace
Tumblr media
here, everything should be tagged properly.
characters have their own basic tags, i only drop ooc text into the tags, after these symbols: //
i’ll tag your blog name under each interaction.
for organization’s sake, i’ll only link the anons here.
special anons
# 🌟 anon
# 👑 anon
# 🔮 anon
# 💠 anon
# 🃏 anon
(tumblr ate the tags, sorry. those are the current roster of anons, listed from early to recent.)
Tumblr media
honestly. i didn’t want to make a section for this. i kinda wanted to stay mysterious and cool.
hi! i’m the star eulogy mod, he/meow pronouns, i go by sunny, but you can just call me sunshine here, for the sake of differentiation between character and writer.
i mind my own business, so i don’t really see a lot of things that other blogs do. i’m very private.
if you ping the blog in your promo post, i’ll reblog it. i reblog new blogs’ pinned posts, whenever i can.
my timezone is est. but i sleep when i want to.
Tumblr media
all of the art you see coming from me belongs to me, aside from the usage of official art, by omocat.
here’s one of my favourite art posts.
fun fact: the original universe that star eulogy originates from, was on the universally loved route. it was set up for sunflower, hence how sunny distances himself from most basil alternates.
i personally don’t ship sunny (in general) with anybody. but i’m willing to write it for the lore, if sunny (star eulogy) can keep a relationship for longer than a day.
he’s on the spectrum. (aromantic, asexual, autistic) so romance might not look the same to you, as it does to him. he’s my silly little princess.

Posts will be either drawn or done in roblox studio Wallter was designed by my buddy Paramedic! However, just about every other design on this blog is made by me. Credits will be given where credit is due, though! this blog may feature violence, blood, and substance abuse
⚔️ and 🧱 used to differentiate between TOR (my regretevator OC) and Wallter! (and yes, you can use them as emoji pronouns too.) Wallter uses He/Any, TOR uses He/Him! OCs, other canon characters, other wallter blogs, and crossovers from other fandoms are welcome and encouraged to interact! this blog follows the Wallmark+Lampert family headcanon. more info under the cut!
Tumblr media
BASIC PREMISE
TOR is a dynabloxian, an ancient robloxian race that had been presumed to have gone extinct for about as long as dinosaurs. In this multiverse, death of old age is not a thing, however, robloxians had an exceptionally large fighting culture back in the day that had wiped all dynabloxians out. Wallter is... also a dynabloxian, however he had been preserved in ice when he was rather young and had been uncovered by ro-bio scientists. As such, he is the only modern example of a dynabloxian in the current era. Watch what happens when TOR finds the second surviving member of his people! You can learn more about TOR's character here, and get a glimpse of his dialog here!

So I stumbled upon the little drama about afab and female. That anon was definitely very rude and ignorant to other people's lack of knowledge. Don't worry, you didn't do anything wrong.
But I also think knowledge is important, so I'll try to explain what's up with the terms "AFAB" and "Female."" Are they different or can they be used as synonyms?
As you said correctly, AFAB means assigend female at birth. A person who has been assigned female at birth doesn't necessarily have to be female. For example: non binary people who have been born female are AFAB but not female because they are non binary. Or transmen for example, they are men, not female. But they are AFAB. Transwomen on the other hand, are women but not AFAB. Instead, they are AMAB (assigend male at birth).
Why does this exist? The term AFAB exists to give important information about the person without being disrespectful to their gender (if their gender is not the same that has been assigned to them at birth). This may come in handy in the medical field, where the biological gender can play an important role. In writing, this Termis is used as well.
When writing, people use AFAB to be more inclusive. In other words, they can write the character/reader as gender neutral, but by adding AFAB in the tags, they signalize that the biological gender plays a role in the story (e.g., periods, pregnancy, certain diseases, etc.)
This way, writers can specify the audience better. For example, some Transmen and Non-binary can still have their periods or get pregnant, etc. But also not every female can have periods, e.g. transwoman. Using the Term AFAB, let's them know that this story includes factors related to biological gender and therefore, can decide whether or not they want to read this story.
AFAB can be female, so it's not necessarily wrong when saying that the reader is female and putting AFAB in as well. But saying that AFAB is automatically female is incorrect because it excludes Transwomen, Transmen and Non-binary people. Hence why you can't use these two Terms as synonyms.
If you want a term to describe an AFAB female, you can use, as you already know, the word Cis-Woman. (The same things apply to AMAB=Assigned male at birth).
To summarize it a up: AFAB/AMAB are terms used to differentiate between the genders to not only give important information about the person but to include more people as well. At the same time, you can have factors in your story that relate to the biological gender without excluding people.
Remember that it's s your choice whether or not to use this term because you ARE the writer. As the writer, you can choose what gender your character has.
I hope this has helped you to understand the terms a little bit better. Thank you for trying to be supportive and understanding to this topic. I know all these things can be very confusing, so if you have any other questions, feel free to ask. :)
-🧠 Anon
Thank you 🧠 anon. This was a lot better of an explanation because there aren’t a lot of articles on this subject. I try to be a pretty inclusive with proper pronouns and biology and I do not want to offend people.
I appreciate you sharing your knowledge with me ❤️🖤

Things I like RP partners to know
Tumblr media
I like to be called: Mimi, if you want to use my character's name. But I know it might get weird to differentiate between the player and the character. And I am definitely neither my character nor a tsundere. ;) So you can call me by my other nickname as well I am mostly known for at other places - Jama or Jamapi. Yes, that's from "Wedding Peach". Don't judge me, my guilty pleasure is the magical girl genre and "Wedding Peach" was simply hilarious! Pronouns: they/them.
Tumblr media
One thing you should know about me (or several):
The following is at the same time a condensed and expanded version of my carrd's ooc sections. If you want to know more, you can look at my >carrd<.
I am 21+ and I belong to the older demographic here, as I started roleplaying with D&D back in the days in the 80s and have been doing a lot of roleplaying since then - tabletop, collaborative storytelling, play-by-mail, LARP. You name it, I did it. Mimi has been a grumpy little menace on Balmung in FF14 since ARR. I have a fulltime and very stressful job as a professional writer in my native language. Thus, playing the game is my feel-good place to recharge my energy batteries, while relaxing with a nice cup of coffee. So I like my and your time there being as stressfree and most fun as possible. I am happily married and outside of RP I am not looking for anything more than friendship. My characters have their own agenda, of course. But I am just here to have fun playing the game, write some cool stuff together with you and laugh and watch our goofballs on the screen act the way they do. Our own little tv show of ensuing hilarity.
I like to describe my preferred RP with tv shows: Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Dawson’s Creek, Babylon 5, Fringe. Also, I have a soft spot for horror themes, especially when spiced up with cosmic horror. So if you are doing that? Count me in! But let me be clear: To me it is not about the tentacles, but the philosophical/intellectual stuff. World views being shattered, nihilism hitting characters hard, existentialism with moral dilemmas. That is the good stuff to me! Nothing wrong with cosmic/void entitites, of course, but please no anime weirdness here. I probably do not have to spell it out, what I mean by that, right? That is not, what I enjoy cosmic horror for. So even though I love cosmic horror, do not assume I am here for that. Because that is a big no-go for me.
Aside from that, let's talk about talking: I am not shy, I am an introvert (>example<). I do not enjoy small talk and this has nothing to do with you. If I play with you I like you! And there will be even other times, when I will not stop talking to you. My walls of texts are infamous - you see them regularly here on tumblr. But please try to avoid an OOC conversation starter with: “How are you doing?” I never know how to answer that and struggle with that. Honestly, I often sit 5-10 minutes on an answer to that question and my brain simply shows a big "cannot compute" message. If there is something you want to discuss, sure thing, shoot. I can talk for hours and hours about specific topics, meaningful stuff and so on. Once I get lose on something we both are interested in there is no stopping for me. But just talking on a superficial level simply to connect with people? I would love to be able to do that, but I fail at that so hard and am just a big goofball of awkwardness in those cases. So I appreciate getting straight to the point. By the way: IC small talk is a completely different thing for me. Yes, I am weird like that.
Tumblr media
One (or several) thing(s) you should know about my characters:
Mimi is not an easy character to get along with. I know that. Many people seem to prefer "feel good" rp - and Mimi is probably the opposite of that. And even though I won't say there will never be any "good vibes" rp with Mimi, it will take time and is very situational. The good times do not come easily with this woman. Personally, I prefer conflict and well paced character drama. As much as I adore slice-of-life rp I am not here to "play house" and find that utterly boring. I am here for interesting, gripping character dynamics, for tense situations, for unexpected twists and turns, for character development. I am here for the heart break, angst and the slow burn. Give me edges on other characters, let me to throw my characters against those edges and see what happens.
Even if at some point the "deredere" part of Mimi appears, don't expect this to be everytime. I need the conflict. I need IC problems in roleplay. That's the reason why I love to play tsundere. They make things complicated. They create conflicts by their very nature. As much as I love ooc harmony outside of rp, within any rp situation I crave for well-written conflicts. That does not always have to be a fight. This can also just be a discussion. Or simply different opinions or backgrounds. Sure, sometimes there is not a good angle to create a conflict or disagreement. Well, then it is as it is and this can happen - and that is fine! But I struggle with those situations and will probably try to spice up the situation and make it unpredictable. I want to be surprised. Conflicts are the best way to get there. At least in my experience. To some people this might seem forced and they get annoyed by that. I understand that. But that is just the way I am. I do not want to annoy you by that. I want us both to have fun and something to play with in rp. That is, why I incite problems and conflict. Because if there is nothing to say, then there is no dynamic to the scene.
I know this is not everybody's cup of tea and I don't judge the rp of others. But harmony based rp simply is not my thing and I avoid it, when rp is only "lovey-dovey", rainbows and sunshine. I won't keep people from doing that, but I don't have any interest in it and will stay away from it - for the sake of your fun and mine as well. I do not want to spoil anybody's fun. If you have fun with that? You do you! And please don't get me wrong: It is no problem if there are "nice moments". On the contrary, I love those moments as well! But they have more impact to me if they do not appear regularly, because I am looking for: meaningful moments. Something that will stick to my mind as funny or interesting or tragic or sad or tense. Something that intrigues me like a thrilling tv episode and a gripping cliffhanger in a book or movie. So I like to be really clear about, why I play a quarrelsome character like Mimi: She is not someone to be "solved" or "rescued". She is the way she is, because I need conflict rp to get my creativity going. That is my rp fuel.
To sum it up: My characters are going to do stupid things. They are going to be douchebags. And they are more often wrong than not. I am not my character so if they insult or provoke your character that is part of the RP - not me being mean to you as a player. If I do not feel comfortable with a player on an OOC level I rather avoid playing with them altogether. If my character picks a fight with your character, it means I trust you as a player, and I like you and your character. After all I am offering you my favorite RP, as I adore IC banter and conflict If character play leads to a plot, no problem with that. But do not expect me to play according to any script. My preferred RP develops out of character dynamics. For me plot is a stage for character interactions. Not vice versa.
Tumblr media
First language: German. As you might have noticed, I am a non native speaker. So, sorry for any language weirdness or if my answers take longer. I try my best and I think my English is not too bad, but I struggle from time to time. Roleplaying in something different to your first language is a different kind of beast and many things I am proud of in my use of German I fail at in English. And this paragraph is probably one of the best examples of that!

clone high oc + self insert information dump :]
jimmy h, known mostly as jimmy // clone son of jimi hendrix
goes by jimmy not jimi ( same sound, diff spelling to stand out from clone father )
went parachuting because his clone father was a paratrooper in the 101st airborne division at one point ( hated it )
he’s well liked by british clones of musicians from their clone father’s era ( think john lennon, eric clapton, etc )
^^ i think it would be a neat gimmick if british people esp ladies were fond of him in general. brit magnet.
jimmy is a cis man, uses he/they pronouns without preference, sexuality wise i haven’t decided quite yet. I think i’ll leave them unlabeled
^^ one of jimi’s song lyrics was continuously misheard as “‘scuse me as I kiss this guy” fun fact. also he wld sing this incorrect version live on occasion & fllw it with a fake makeout session. did u know? lol
jimmy is a deep sleeper and has interesting dreams similarly to their clone father. i think he keeps a written record of all the dreams he can remember, just for fun
he’s deff the type of guy to go “this reminds me of this one dream i had”
1st gen clone
i do think they’d follow in their clone father’s footsteps as a musician ^_^
richard “richie” pyror // clone son of richard pyror
has a huge soft spot for animals much like his clone father, I think he’d own a dog or two
huge class clown but hasn’t seriously considered a career in comedy. he has a very blunt humor but it’s still clever and it often makes you think to get the joke
2nd gen clone
i think he’d be more of an actor than an actual comedian. deff joined the school’s theater troupe btw. he’s a funny actor but he doesn’t want to do stand up
richie uses he/him pronouns and identifies as straight 🙏 subject to change but i think he’s cishet
he’s a very clever & witty person in general
very expressive in the face
i think he’s actually a chick magnet bc funny guys always get babes it’s a real phenomenon please believe me!!
uses richie as a nickname to stand out from clone father but rlly doesn’t mind being called richard
jean-michel basquiat // clone son of jean-michel basquiat ( second clone high self insert of mine )
fully goes by his clone father’s name, doesn’t mind being viewed as him bc he’s confident in his own character
does go by “johnny” / “johnny-boy” as a nicknames ( jean is pronounced similarly to john so it fits still ) but they’re not necessarily his preferred name
was hit by a car once like his clone father ( too busy on his phone to notice it coming ) ( embarrassing memory )
2nd gen clone
pals with debbie harry ( she likes his art! ) we do not speak of Andy warhol currently.
does street graffiti mostly inspired by the human body, sketch book is full of anatomy and natural poses. rlly big on the beauty of human form
currently speaks french & english; occasionally jots down notes in franglais
there’s probably a clone high friend group consisting of clone children of the infamous 27 club.. and he is a part of it. i am srry. like imagine being a clone and having ur clone father die so young. imagine approaching that age.. that’s gotta be scary, u need a coping group for that.
jean-michel uses he/him prns & probably neos since he’s new gen. i think he’d be queer generally like he wldn’t use any specific labels just queer.
rlly science smart ^_^
ella baker // clone daughter of ella baker
no differentiation between her name and her clone mom’s name
valedictorian of her class :)
sort of unknown, but prefers to be in the “background” of life much like her clone mother; would rather work behind the scenes
friends with harriet & frida even though she’s a 1st gen clone, she finds them to be nice
always “knows a guy” for every situation, i just think that gimmick is funny
i’ll develop more later + I think she’ll get glasses
she/her prns, i think she’d be a lesbian also. but that’s just me.
arthur “artie” ashe // clone son of arthur ashe
cis guy, he/him + “straight”,, rlly bisexual just unaware
has a man crush on Ryan Reynolds n also Nick Jonas don’t ask. me why don’t ask. and also jude bellingham. he thinks it’s normal
2nd gen clone
his adoptive father raises him alone btw no mother
still into tennis like his clone father, i think he’d get agitated whenever ppl make fun of the sport 😭🙏
also talented at soccer! but mostly focused on tennis.
glasses wearer.
pretty chill ^_^ 2nd gen clone
jeanie clisson // clone daughter of jeanne de clisson
works summers on cruise ships!
pirates movies online once new gen clones teach her how ( she’s 1st gen )
her name is jeanie but don’t make genie jokes she’ll actually kill you
i think she’d be a more masculine woman ( i’m not sure if butch is entirely appropriate to use though ) and she’d have muscles & wld work out. cld probably bench press jfk /hj
has an attack dog named smth sweet like “cupcake” lol. & also wrestles for the girl’s wrestling team
she/her pronouns, cis woman, don’t bother talking to her if ur a man ( “my clone mother only pirated because of a man. i pirate because i’m badass” )
it wld be funny if joan or marilyn ( CLONES THE CLONES ) fell for her
thea dexter // clone daughter of timothy dexter
trans woman, she/her, idk her sexuality yet
has insane luck just like her clone father, i think she’d be able to find money on the ground rlly easily
1st gen clone
makes capitalism work for her. a lot of her get rich quick schemes should NOT work but they DO <\3 probably runs a minor pyramid scheme /JOKE maybe. probably. but she does do get rich quick schemes
gandhi wld deff fall for her get rich quick plots n it wldn’t work out for him just for her
topher wld be like “as a cishet white man I recognize my privilege over you, a trans woman” and she’d be like “if you feel so bad just pay me” and it’s a running gag I think. that every time topher sees thea he gives her a dollar or two.
do not let this bitch onto the internet SHE’S GOING TO SCAM PEOPLE. /hj
josephine “josie” baker // clone daughter of josephine baker ( my 1st clone high self insert )

loves cheetah print ( faux fur ofc )
dating joan hahahahahahaa!
she owns a cat named chiquita.. wld like more pets but can’t have more

time for a new pinned post
yo. I'm a drizzile. I think. I apparently used to be a human, but all I have to prove that is this diary thing that only vaguely hints at it being mine. you can read it here
im bisexual and use any pronouns btw. also I'm a minor and nsfw accounts (as well as people with "minors dni" in their bio) will be blocked (despite that warning in my bio that I may occasionally post mentions of nsfw stuff)
ooc stuff under the cut
hello again!! my name is drizzile (or is it??? the world may never know.) but I also go by sig sometimes (only if you knew me from twitter)
I will be differentiating between Drizzile, the character, and drizzile the pokemon species by capitalizing the d
as stated in the in-character part of the pinned, I'm bisexual and a minor, and I use any pronouns. you can find a more detailed explanation of myself here. the lore for Drizzile isn't actually all that clear yet, since I've only just started writing it lol. just assume they've gotten out of the mystery dungeon universe (called the "Mystery World" in the universe they're from) by now
also I will tag ooc stuff as #not drizzile (with the exception being this post)
I may forget to tag ooc stuff sometimes so sorry in advance

Silence of the Lambs
Tumblr media
Today we’re diving into one of the most well-known pieces of transphobic media. Silence of the Lambs was published in 1988, and the movie came out in 1991. For those of you unfamiliar with the plot (spoilers ahead), there is a person murdering woman in order to wear their skin to look more feminine. The book excuses this by saying that the murderer is not a “real transsexual” and is simply “confused,” because she did not pass the evaluation to qualify as a real transsexual person, and therefore get the medical treatment she needs. As you can see, this is looking quite transphobic.
Lets start with the pronouns used for the killer in this book. Though the book uses he/him pronouns (and the audiobook features the narrator putting on the affectation of a stereotypically gay man, which is uncomfortable as well) I will be using she/her pronouns for the murderer, because there is nothing that any person can do that revokes their right to be gendered correctly. Misgendering is not a punishment for bad people, it is a basic human right.
Horror has had a problem for years with dehumanizing marginalized groups to  use as a shock factor, and this is a problem that is just now beginning to be recognized. When I looked up the words “silence of the lambs” and “transphobia” or jstor, just 14 articles came up. Most of these articles only mention silence of the lambs in passing, therefore this next paragraph is my personal analysis.
The author of Silence of the Lambs seems to believe he is not transphobic, due to the great pains he takes to differentiate buffalo bill (the murderer) from what he calls “real transexuals.” This doesn’t make the movie or film not transphobic, rather I believe that there should be a rather large conversation around this story that centers on explaining the internalized bias/fear relating to transgender women, and why that fear exists. There should be a conversation around how this movie portrays Clarice (the main character) as a foil to her trans woman enemy, and what that juxtaposition between masculine cis woman vs. transgender women that do not pass is meant to show.

Name To Hold True
🏘️ Caretaker Pyn & Butler Realm!Tae 🏘️ 1577 Words 🏘️ A/n: Pyn uses He/they pronouns. They is used in this fic for ease of reading between characters. Also, no beta cause I'm silly like that. One instance of vulgarity.
Tumblr media
They are not sure how long it is since they propped themself up on the reception table. It could be five minutes, it could be an hour. It is not that they minded. The caretaker is only left to wait.
They could knock on the simple wooden door but they refrain from doing so. Instead they let their eyes wander the grain of the wood. Their eyes catch on the ornate carving on the top corner. It is barely noticeable from afar. An overly complex R is carved out of the material. They know what it stands for. A sting hits Their heart.
The door suddenly opens outward. A fallen angel steps through the weird shimmer of the entryway behind the door.
"Hey, uh...Angel."
The man closes the door gently. It is not a shock to the angel to see the caretaker waiting. It is, however, interesting to see the young fox with knees to their chest and tails swishing over the butler's desk. His eyes linger on Pyn before turning into a distrusting squint.
"Something's wrong."
"I wouldn't call it wrong. Just...something different. A change."
"What change? I don't know of any change." He raises a brow.
"It's more a personal thing than a full on mansion thing. What do you think of names?"
"A way to refer to people. Why? Are you thinking of changing names again? That doesn't usually deserve this kind of dramatics. It would be a simple thing. There's something else going on here."
"Astute. If you were given the chance, what would you pick for yourself?"
"Me? Oh there are thousands of names out there, little kit, but I do have some that I would lean towards."
Another distrusting squint returns. The angel's body shifts unconsciously in front of the door. He leans against the entryway. His arms fold. Pyn lets out the smallest huff of air out of their nose. They fight down the smile coming up to their lips. The angel is still ever protective of his origins.
"Are you wanting to rip my name away so that I disappear forever?"
"By the gods that would be great for real me's night terrors but no, I wouldn't do that. It's kind of the opposite. Would you like to be a true muse?"
The question hangs in the air for a few solid seconds. It shouldn't really take that long for the angel to process what he's said. The brows suddenly furrow on the angel's face and Pyn's heart rate rises.
"Alright, I'll fully bite. What brought this on?"
"I have been thinking."
"As if you ever stop."
"Shut up. As I was saying, I was thinking. It's been a few solid years now..."
"2016." The angel interrupts with a flat tone.
"Don't remind me. You've been a very consistent muse despite my attitude towards your WIP and you've very much come into your own, away from your original inspiration. It felt like, you'd be better off as..."
"An original character, or 'true muse' as you say."
The angel air quotes the term with the slightest disgust. He knows the term is just a way to differentiate between original characters and fan muses that stay in the mansion. The mansion just carries more fan muses than other such muses. Pyn only nods to confirm the sentence.
"Doesn't sound too bad but I'm sure there's a catch."
"Just one. Your true origins are scrapped. It will never be placed out there. You can keep the face and all the other stuff. I just need to take the name and your old WIP away. I need to scrap the bits that are obviously, jarringly taken from the inspiration."
"That's fine by me. I've given up on that."
There is barely even a moment of hesitation as he says it. Pyn knows better though. The turn of the head, the rise of the shoulder.
"Liar."
"Of course I'm a liar. In all honesty, I still will want something of myself to be real, to be given to the world."
"Being here isn't enough for you."
"I did not say that. However, being an empty muse will not be enough. I just need something. Something not tied to the mansion directly. Something tied to me. Something that is me in the context of my world, my lore."
"I know. I want that too. And if you'd be willing in the future, I'd make something new for you."
"Is that a promise?"
"Not quite. I can't promise this. You know how I am but I am willing. I'm always willing, for a story."
He keeps his eye contact with the caretaker. "I'll take it."
"Great. I need you to pick yourself a name. I'll handle everything else for the change."
"Give me a short moment to think of a name. On the other hand, have you asked the snake about this?"
"No, not yet. I wanted to ask you first."
The feathers of the angel's wings seem to fluff up ever so slightly. The caretaker huffs with a roll of the eyes.
"Don't let it go to your head. You just happen to be the older one. I asked you first only due to courtesy."
His nose scrunches with a click of his tongue. "At least you respect your elders I guess... But there’s something more to it, isn't there? Are you worried that it might be too soon for it?"
"I'm scared." Pyn says it so quietly, under their breath.
The angel still manages to catch it. He comes closer towards Pyn. He keeps the gap between them. He tilts his head in question.
"I'm scared he'd get angry."
"You're scared that it'd get angry than me being angry?"
"I have more confidence that you'd get angry than I have the confidence that he'd get angry. I know I'd be able to handle you easier. It is very much a surprise to me how calm you are about it right now. I don't know what he would be like if he's angry with me. I don’t think he has been angry with me before. I haven't even thought about that before."
The angel scoffs a laugh at the thought. "As if that oaf can be angry with you. What would it even have to be angry about?"
"If he becomes a true muse, I can't turn that back. Which means, for me, I'd never complete his story. He always seems like he's nonchalant without reason. As if he has too much confidence in me that I could get it done one day and here I am saying, 'It's very likely no'."
It ticks the butler off seeing the way Pyn is getting teary eyed in frustration. He reminds himself he is in a different situation than the snake. The caretaker is much softer towards the gardener than him. His own fault, he admits. He shifts from the door towards the reception desk. He leans against it as he thinks about the soft hearted ouroboros of the gardens. In the weirdest ways, the snake is the opposite to him when it comes to their origins.
"I do not believe that is what Scales thinks. I do not mean to say that it has given up. It just seems to...not care. It's better that you do talk to it. I cannot say for certain since we are not close but…Scales tends to be a very open book. The way I read it, Scales would be happy to just be by you. I really don't think it cares about its origins at all."
"Are you sure?"
"I know you're the one that created us but you need to stop looking at us like we'd be the first ones to kill you in a Purge situation."
"You would though."
"Yes, I would but not Scales. Trust me on that. Just talk to it."
"Ok... I will, in time."
Pyn removes their hold on Their legs. They let them hang over the edge of the table with a little swing. The angel relaxes as well. They remain quiet like that for an unknown amount of time to either of them.
"Have you thought of a name?" Pyn pipes up.
The angel is suddenly reminded. His mind wanders. There truly are thousands of names in the world. It is a hard decision to think of one that might suit him. How funny would it be to base his name on the word angel itself? Or even take the word for angel and twist just a single letter of it just for the “significance” factor to his lore? It would test the caretaker's patience just a tick. A familiar mischievous smile crawls onto his face.
"Hmmmm, how about Malaikar?"
"Did you just—I am not calling you that."
Pyn scrunches their nose. It only brings a light to the man's eyes.
"You barely call me by my name anyway. How about Laikar for short? Or Laik?"
"Of all the names you could choose..."
"You asked me. That's what I feel like and that's what I like. As if this isn't you choosing my name anyway."
"Don't get meta with me you fuck. Fine, Malaikar it is. When you have time, mind asking your beau to give a name as well? I'd like it if he's a true muse as well. For your happiness and my sanity."
A genuine smile fills Malaikar’s face at the mention of his beloved. "Definitely."

- About/Rules -
This is a side blog to @thaumatology, featuring Colin's fugitive half sister Alice Ward. I use this blog for both in character blogging and face to face paragraph style threads, which will both be differentiated via tagging. Her bio is still under construction, but in the meantime if you want to know more feel free to DM me and I will be happy to answer any questions you have.
About the writer. 27, Any pronouns (usually default to he/him). Autistic. 11+ years of rping experience. Currently living in California. I love talking to new people: DMs are open to everyone, Discord is available to mutuals on request.
Rules:
This blog is 18+. Any serious in depth discussion of nsfw topics will be placed under a read more, but there will still be general mentions of sex and other mature topics and It's just overall not going to be a minor friendly space.
I'm a little selective with who I write with. Usually if I can bend Alice's existing view of the universe to fit your character I'll give them a shot but some characters just break her world too much to easily write her coexisting with them. Its not a judgement on your character its just something I struggle to write.
IC =/= OOC. Alice's views do not automatically reflect mine, especially her opinions of other characters.
If you want your character to do something to Alice, please reach out first. Chances are I'll be down for it! but I like to know in advance so we can work out specific details.
Additional guidelines:
Some of the themes discussed on this blog will likely be triggering. I'll do my best to tag things, but my memory is not great and I can't guarantee that I'll never slip up. If that seems like it could be an issue you probably shouldn't follow me, sorry.
I deeply value OOC communication, both positive and negative. If I'm doing something you don't like and you want me to stop or if I've otherwise upset you in some way, feel free to tell me. I promise I won't be upset about it, my goal here is to keep this fun for everyone involved.
Tags: #ic - posts meant to be read as being posted online by Alice herself. #f2f - in person threads between Alice and another character. #narrative - in person or action posts that are not part of an extended thread and involving only characters written by me. #[private] - means an in character post is only viewable by other characters involved in the post. #on timeline - means that the events depicted are happening in as close to real time as the format allows. #off timeline - means that the events depicted are not happening at the current time, such as in a flashback or flash forward.

Full offense, @rjalker? Is that really necessary for an ‘argument’ like this?
I did in fact read all the books. As a critic you should understand that even still, after reading the same source material, our interpretation of it can be wildly different. Yes, too much skirting around proper etiquette when asking for pronouns in media is annoying, but I still don’t think totally dismissing TMB is fair or entirely adherent to your stated dislike for unrealistic behavior either.
Frankly I think you’ve overstepped on this rant against me personally. I clearly wasn’t attacking you as a reader, just that I didn’t like the way your post suggested that the Muderbot series somehow violated reader’s expectations for how gender and pronouns should be handled in fiction. To me that seems like a fair trade of opinions between people with a common interest.
Before you react so strongly again to what I am about to say now, I would like to admit that I indeed did not have the books conveniently open in front of me as you did when I wrote my previous post, and perhaps I spoke with too much certainty. I had re-read them only a few days ago and had been quite certain in my mind I recalled the exact wording correctly. A mistake for sure, to rely on memory alone. But if the issue of how the text is interpreted in terms of its representation for how to ascertains character’s pronouns really was just a ‘pet peeve’ as you claimed you shouldn’t have reacted this indignantly either. Calling out my error is one thing, straight up patronizing and swearing at me is another entirely and I hope you’re aware of that. I have only disagreed with you, I had not belittled or insulted you in any way. Your post just happened to be on my dashboard, I had no reason to know what else you post or even guess that you have a 1300 word paper floating around somewhere on you account, nor am I the same person/persons that have made an assumption on you posts before. Do you really need to funnel all of that aggression at me? Do you think I commented because I wanted to slight you for fun?
I would also like state to that I’m inclined to agree that there is something to be said about how Martha Wells skirts around gender essentialism, but I doubt you would like to entertain that conversation with me after this incident.
With that aside, here is my response to your assumption that I’m making bullshit statements just because the word pronouns wasn’t specifically used:
What I attempted to recall in my post was the term ‘gender signifier’, which I interpreted quite literally as an entirely separate marker to one that signifies biological sex. Because it specifically says gender signifier, not biological sex signifier. Hence my reading of all interactions thereafter being that gender is the information available on the feed and not a character’s sex.
And to you other point regarding how the books assume people’s pronouns are solely based on the characters’ physical presentation:
Murderbot itself states multiple times that many of the people it encounters have no idea what genitals a SecUnit has or if SecUnits have genitals at all, and are likely to have false expectations based on what they’ve seen in media.
With Ancillary Justice in the mix it makes sense that, since Brek came from a genderless society where genitals and pronouns had no significant connection, her perception of those two parts of her identity are much more separate. Whereas in TMB most of the communities that it encounters have some differentiation between genders, though they definitely appear less absolute than real life. It is never stated that they are completely free from entrenched assumptions based on genitalia. Hence, whenever Murderbot follows up it’s statements that it has no gender by referencing it’s lack of genitalia, that sounded to me like the way people who use pronouns that don’t necessarily match what a gender essentialist society dictates should be easily know from their appearance say to dissuade others from trying to use their genitalia as an argument for what pronouns they think is proper. I too have am emotional investment in this series, and while I didn’t write an exhaustive essay about it I do empathize with the way discussion of gender is often tied to the sex people were assigned based on their genitals, and hence why I am personally less put-off that they are often mentioned together in this series.
And to address Murderbot not having its gender listed, I agree with you that it’s likely oversight by the author, I’m happy to entertain both our interpretations of it at once. But it also makes sense to assume that the other characters that interact with it are defaulting to how they speak to bots and constructs, I.e. a non-human AI. Both ART and Murderbot do not object to being referred to by it/its, which i strongly believe, considering their personalities, they would have if they had perfected something else. To me at least it’s less so about the lack of genitals and more about the non-human aspects of the characters. And to be clear, I am making this statement regarding Murderbot and ART, not of all the characters in general. I assume you have a better record of that than I do.
Please excuse the typos and the format, I’ve been up since 6am and it’s currently 2am. If you wish to chat about this further, I’d be open to DMs instead, as this post is getting way too long. Or block me, I don’t particularly care.

The yes section shows her saying, "This one sparks joy", with a smiling emoticon added in.
The box for this yes section reads:
"The Imperial Radch series starting a discussion about pronouns and gender as a concept within the very first scene and then continuing to address this over the course of the story, showing that gender is a social constuct that varies from culture to culture and you cannot know someone's pronouns or gender just from looking at them because even within a culture gender presentation varies and trans people exist and the only way to know someone's pronouns is to ask them because it's not something you can just magically know by looking at them!"
The no section shows her gesturing with her hands, and says, "This one does not spark joy", with a sad emoticon added.
The box for the no section reads:
"The Murderbot Diaries literally not containing the word "pronouns" in any form because literally no one ever asks anyone for them or introduces themselves with them, or even thinks about them at all, even though the protagonist literally uses neopronouns. Despite no one ever asking or being told what someone else's pronouns are, they all just magically know somehow just by looking at people and assuming their gender. Despite the fact that no one ever tells anyone else what pronouns they use, not even the protagonist, no one ever assumes wrong or needs to be corrected."

A Guide to Writing Inclusive Reader-Inserts
I’ve been really fired up about what @renniecirque has been posting about recently, and I want to do everything in my power to help promote inclusivity in the TWST fandom, as well as every other fandom that people write for. So below, I’ve compiled a comprehensive list of literary elements I use in my writing that make writing for characters of all backgrounds, sexualities, genders, races, and appearances much easier and much, much simpler.
1. Second Person Perspective
Alright guys, this is a big one, and the quickest way to make a big immediate change in your reader inserts. In my opinion, this should be the standard for all reader insert writing, and I’m surprised by how little I see it. I acknowledge that people may use first and/or third person for preferential or stylistic reasons, and that’s okay. But if that doesn’t matter as much to you, then I highly recommend switching to second person in all your works.
How to use:
Address the reader with you/yours pronouns when writing the narrative. It’s genderless, easy to stick to, and most importantly, it creates a genuine connection between the real-life reader and the person they’re acting out in the story! In my experience, all of the best reader inserts are written in second person.
Even if it’s an explicitly stated reader insert, hearing the word “I” used when referring to the reader can create this sense that you’re reading someone else’s experience. And that’s not the point! You want to enable your reader to immerse themselves fully into the story and without feeling awkward or like they’re intruding. I know it may be hard to get away from writing in first-person if that’s what you’re used to, but I can promise that even with a little bit of effort, it can be easily fixed. It’s also a helpful exercise for writing in different perspectives!
This also makes it unnecessary to use pronouns for the reader at all (except when they’re being referred to in dialogue—but you can easily work around it by avoiding pronouns altogether when referring to the reader, and when it’s necessary to make that distinction, call them by name). You’ll find this will be a lot easier to differentiate the reader’s actions versus the characters’ actions. And it also makes it unnecessary for you to use placeholders for names like (y/n), MC, Yuu, etc in every other paragraph, so the writing overall looks more cohesive and professional.
This is also done in mainstream visual novels such as Obey Me!, The Arcana (technically uses first person, but there are seldom gendered pronouns) and Twisted Wonderland. The player hardly ever gets referred to by specific pronouns in favor of the characters calling them by name, and even with specific pronouns, the default is they/them. Personally, I always use gender neutral terms in my writing, as sparse as it may be. Because the great thing about it is that it can apply to anyone and everyone, since it’s neutral!
Overall, this is the quickest and easiest way to make your writing more inclusive!
2. Forgo Descriptions of the Reader
I am a huge advocate for a person’s appearance, gender, and inherent personality traits not having any impact on whether or not it’s possible for them to be loved, especially in a reader insert fic. But descriptions are everywhere—how can you get away from the age-old sea-blue eyes, the ivory skin, the voracious curves that have become the cornerstone of all your reader insert stories? Well, I can promise that it is indeed possible.
How to use:
I get it, you’re used to describing the immediate features of a character you’re introducing, which is expected, and what you should be doing! But it can be off-putting to a potential reader to read that the person they’re supposed to be has traits that they don’t have. However, the use of second person perspective as described previously does a good job of getting rid of that need for you! The reader already knows what they look like, how they act, you don’t need to tell them. By all means, keep descriptions of other characters—they’re necessary for development and visualization. But by using second person, you implicitly establish that everyone already knows what you look like, act like, etc; and even if they don’t, it’s not told from their perspective!
But say you still want your reader to have certain features—an attractive face, a timid demeanor, a charismatic presence—as it has an impact on the plot. There are ways to do that without stating those exact things specifically. Show, don’t tell! I know you’ve probably heard this from English teachers, journalists, and writing advice articles, but in practice, it can make or break your story. Don’t say that they’re pretty, show people in the halls pausing to take a second glance at them as they pass. Don’t say they’re shy, show their reluctance to speak up in class. Don’t say they’re charismatic, show the way their friends’ faces light up when they enter a room, the way their peers stare in rapt attention when they speak. This not only makes it easier for the reader to better imagine themselves in the scenario, but it strengthens your writing overall.
3. Labels and Tags!
While I may be a huge advocate for gender neutral defaults and ambiguous descriptions, I’m also a huge advocate for writing whatever the fuck you want. You wanna write for a reader with specific characteristics? Do it! A certain scenario that only applies to a niche group of people? Have at it, my dude! And if a person doesn’t like it, it’s not your problem; they can keep scrolling. But guys, I genuinely cannot express the importance of telling your readers what they’re getting into before they start. This is the internet, and anyone can post anything—trigger warnings and SFW/NSFW tags exist for this very reason. Once something is read, it cannot be unread. But labels and tags aren’t just important for explicit scenes or abusive relationships in a story; the little things matter, too.
How to use:
Include gender of the reader, even if it’s just implied, in the title or description. This kind of goes without saying—if it’s a male reader, tell people it’s a male reader. If it’s a female reader, tell people it’s a female reader. If the reader is gender neutral or gender is not mentioned, tell people it’s gender neutral! And yet, all too often I see people posting fics centered around an explicitly stated female reader without tagging it as such. It really is a simple thing to add, and I promise, it won’t effect the views and popularity of your posts; if a person doesn’t like it to begin with, they’re going to keep scrolling. More than anything, this saves the reader from having to start a fic only to be put off by the wrong pronouns, and (if used with the previous two devices) it saves the writer from having to add in gender-based terms. You could also skip specific labels and just include the pronouns used when referring to the reader.
Include if there are explicitly stated features. If you’re writing specifically for a certain group of people with specific traits, tag it as such! And if the specific trait doesn’t have an impact on what happens on the story, I promise you, it does not need to be included at all.
I’m sure there are plenty of other things that people can do to promote inclusivity, but I’ve found these three principles to be the most effective while also being the easiest to remember. And even if you’re not used to writing in second person perspective or without explicit descriptions of the reader, there’s no harm in trying it out! If you decide you don’t like it or it’s too difficult, you can simply stop. In the long run, it will only make you a better writer.
I would apologize for this being such a long post, but I’m really not sorry; I could talk rhetorical analysis and literary devices all day. And if you scrolled this far, I can only assume you do, too. I’m afraid that Roy Peter Clark (a renowned journalist and the author of Reading Critically and Writing Well, which I highly recommend) has entered my bloodstream directly, and I simply cannot shut up about this kind of stuff. I may not be a professional, but writing has been a passion of mine for years, and these things are just my take on ways to improve your writing.
I’d love for this post to be reblogged as many times as possible, especially if your platform is heavy on fanfiction writers. Inclusivity will never not be important.
Feel free to comment your own advice or ask questions!

Caption: [A acted out conversation between multiple characters. Different characters are differentiated through hats or wigs.
person 1: Nonbinary people are valid.
person 2 (flowery cap): What if I'm not androgenous?
person 1: Nonbinary doesn't mean androgenous. You can present any way you feel suits you.
person 3 (long haired wig): What if I'm assigned male at birth?
person 1: That's irrelevant. You can be assigned female at birth, assigned male at birth, anything. All nonbinary people are valid.
person 4 (blue cap): What if I don't use they/them pronouns?
person 1: Pronouns don't equal gender so that's fine.
person 5 (short haired wig): What if I use they/them pronouns but not exclusively?
person 1: Yeah, that's, that's fine.
person 6 (white cap): What if I'm confused?
person 1: About what?
person 6 (white cap): Everything...
person 1: Eh that's fine.
person 7 (long red wig): What if I think I'm nonbinary and trans?
person 1: I mean all trans means is that your gender isn't the one assigned to you at birth, so that makes sense.
person 2 (flowery cap): But what if I'm nonbinary and not trans?
person 1: I mean I guess no one's like... telling you you have to be.
person 3 (long haired wig): Can I wear a binder?
person 1: Yeah anyone can wear a binder. Do whatever you feel like you have to do to be comfortable in your own body.
person 2 (flowery cap): Can I medically transition?
person 1: Yes.
person 6 (white cap): Can I-
person 1: Yes! Yes you can! There is no one way to be nonbinary and all nonbinary people are valid.]
