Part 4

Josuke Higashikata

Since you two do your daily hair care routines together, he has a decent idea of how he can at least detangle and part it. The first part of the braiding process is easy. However when it comes to actual braiding, you can tell he's confused.

"You said you wanted braids like Moesha? I don't know how to do that at all."

"It's easy. Haven't you ever braided something at least once? Like some string or something?"

"Nope! Sorry, babe."

You sigh as you explain how to braid hair to your darling clueless boyfriend.

He finally finishes your Moesha braids, and they look pretty good. However, he wishes you would've asked him to do something simpler. His hands are sore and his nose burns from the smell of shine n jam and shea moisture. At least he did your edges cutely (he made a little heart with them!). 9/10!

Okuyasu Nijimura

You are scared. Terrified, even. The minute he saw the same braids you wore on a girl in some MTV music video on the TV, he knew he wanted to help you out. So you let him! He has no idea what he's doing.

"Oku, do you know what you're doing?"

"It can't be that hard, right? Just cross those two strands of hair and make them look pretty."

"Oku, you're supposed to cross three strands. THREE."

"Oh..."

It's okay though. He eventually gives up and watches you do your hair yourself and learns a lot. When you're finished, he helps you put purple and black beads on the ends of your braids. Overall, 10/10 (for the beads lol).

Part 5

Giorno Giovanna

You two usually do your hair together like Josuke, so it's not too hard for him to figure out. That doesn't mean he doesn't have his fair share of difficulties, though.

"Amore? Yes, I grabbed the extension hair...gel? Hair gel? Let me check." He rummaged through his plastic bag, worrying just a bit.

"Giogio?" You say, slightly worried. He had been looking for quite a bit. "Giorno," you almost warn, an irritated tone in your voice. Finally you hear the sound of a plastic bag being put down.

"I'm sorry, dear. I got the hair gel. No need to worry."

He finishes your hair nicely. While he does cheat a little bit with his stand when taking out a tangle or lazily getting rid of a pile of extension hair that had a mind of its own, he gets it done well. He puts in blonde, of course, to match with him. You even figure out how to do little hair rolls to match his. He puts wooden beads at the end for a nice finish. Overall, 8/10!

Bruno Bucciarati

Very patient. Shockingly patient. You'd assume he'd try to take a little break, but he kept going until he finished the job (very like him). Although he was a little nervous about messing up your butterfly locs, he still did them pretty nicely.

"Ah, am I twisting these right?" He questioned himself, looking at the loc in his hands. The air smelled heavily of incense and hair product (both because of you).

You smile slightly. "You'll be just fine, dear. You're doing so well already, especially for you first time with faux locs," you reply, a hint of encouragement in your tone. He takes it as inspiration, hums in reply, and continues.

Your locs are gorgeous! Bruno even adds pretty gold charms to go with them. They're simply beautiful and he can't stop staring. Overall, 9/10!

Part 6

Jolyne Kujo

Jolyne has wanted to do your hair for a while. She's retwisted a head or two in jail, so she definitely knows what's up. When you finally say yes, she's ecstatic!

You and Jolyne had been thinking about what kind of hairstyle to do for a while, but she's finally got the best idea.

"Darlingggg?"

You turn your head to Jolyne. "Yesss?"

"Why don't you do jade braids? You can match your hair with mine!" she tells you excitedly.

You think for a moment. "I dunno, Jo...That's kind of a hit or miss."

She sags her shoulders a bit. "You'll be fine, promise. Besides, you and me matching will be sooo cute. Think of the photo opportunities."

You sigh, giving in, but give her a small smile. Moving in quickly, you give her a small kiss on the cheek. "Okay. I trust you."

"Then let me work my magic already."

And she most definitely did. Jolyne gave you crystals and gold accessories as well as lip gloss and mascara (if you're into that) to go with your hair. Surprisingly enough, she had made the yellow/dark green combo work pretty well on your hair. She just wouldn't stop kissing you. 10000/10!

Ermes Costello

Come on now. You know she'll hook you up. As soon as she asks to do your hair, you instantly say yes. The two of you decide to go all out just to prove her braiding skill with micobraids.

"I dunno, Ermes. Microbraids are most definitely not for the weak," you warn her. "Your fingers will be gone when you're not even halfway through."

She simply shrugs. "So? I'll make it worth the wait." She sits you down and begins to work on your hair.

She was, surprisingly enough, able to finish the microbraids in six hours. When you asked her how, she claimed she just had 'fast hands' (something you disagreed with especially when you were playing Mario Kart). She went through the additional pain of adding jewelry to some of the braids (which was hard since there were so many, like lord have mercy), but they looked amazing in the end. 1000/10, like Jolyne.

This ended up being longer than I intended to write and also has some yucky themes in it so I'm putting it under a cut, but

(edit) ALSO, I can see how that post may be seen as a “this one sparks joy because its all dudes” and “this one does not spark joy because its women” but thats absolutely not what its about- I hope no one takes it to mean that.  It’s that comic spinoff #1 is really rich in story and has returning characters we are all excited to see and #2 is a garbage porn fest lmao  

SO ok- two spinoff comics were announced and have been highly anticipated, one of which stars two characters who would NEVER be associated with each other and the entire fanbase was beside itself with excitement for what we could only imagine was gonna be the wackiest shit ever, because both of them are dumbasses- one is a teen with a heart of gold and the other is a morally questionable (but sometimes ok) cOWBOY?? who used to be one of the bad guys- but like one of the ones who you could always picture switching sides and reluctantly joining up with the good guys (and whose stand is just literally a fucking gun LMAO). So far the first chapter is absolutely AMAZING and is going into the backstories of a bunch of the supporting villain characters from part 3 and exploring their mental states after their leader was defeated and the ptsd they have from how they were extorted and controlled by him. And we are all super hyped to see these characters again and to get more content of them and explorations of their past. The art style is really solid and obviously took a lot of care, and for the most part - aside from Mariah who is known to be a female character that enjoys showing off her body, the women are drawn pretty respectfully. It might be weird to mention this out of nowhere but like- it matters when you get into the OTHER manga that came out this month... ugh I have not READ the other one but from the little bit I read about it, its a one shot about an OC artist that uses Jolyne (A PRISONER IN A PRISON?) as inspiration for her fuckin PORN art? idk man- it seems hella sus, and apparently its trashy as all get out- you can kinda tell by how they draw Jolyne on the main cover that its gonna be super creepy... the main character has a stand that controls the mood of people she draws and she gets obsessed with Jolyne and yeah you can see where this is going.... some creepy stalkery rapey shit ensues. Its literally just horrible fanmade porn that somehow got published as a real spinoff and we (the jojo fans i care to associate myself with at least LMAO) are all over here getting nauseous about what a mess it is. I haven't read it because the synopsis I saw sounded super offputting and the art style makes Jolyne look like shes 12... and just NO, no, a million times no. I made the mistake of looking into it a bit more so I would be able to answer this ask (don't feel bad, I just didn't want to trash talk something I didn't know much about) and also IM SO MAD that they had the NERVE to use Lady Gaga's song Bad Romance as the namesake for the creepy artist stand's name. What a waste bruh...

Anyway yeah- like not to say you cant read it and like- idk get your grim jollies in private but it sounds super yikes and its a mess. Another case of like, yeah I know its fiction and just for fun but hoo boy it just doesn't seem right.

What can you tell us about your least mentioned characters? Kentaro , Tortoni , Yaxkin , Sora , Jun-Su , Katya , Leonard , Evan?

☆꧁✬◦°˚°◦. ♠ ♣ ♥ ♦ .◦°˚°◦✬꧂☆ I'd love to share a whole lot , but I currently am lacking some story for some because it's a long process thinking upon so much back story for characters , but I can throw in some possible spoilers the ones I am certain of , or at least some that might go through some work. Here goes! -> Kentaro Shiraki Kentaro is my OC Jinsei's brother. I was honestly debating on either for Jinsei to know he is alive... but lately I've been leaning down towards the idea of Jinsei thinking that his brother is dead , but regardless having the thoughts of him deep down that he might be still alive , because he basically saw it first hand how he was taken away after their house burned down after the 'accident' that wasn't exactly an accident lol. Kentaro was full on brainwashed by the XPD that his family always doubted him since he didn't have the touch 'of the detective' and other little factors they had learned about the whole Shiraki family. I am planning on a possible arc for Jinsei that will probably have a big time breakdown xD. -> Gabriel Tortoni Gabriel is gonna go through a lot of rework ... he still doesn't have a possible story and concept for main events , because I basically created him for fun lol. I took his ability and gave him to my other OC Cheryl because it was a bit more fitting , Cheryl was my very first Jojo oc and I just threw things in her that I thought would be cool and out of randomness xD. But later on she began to change completely because now I understand Jojo a bit better . I will either make him part of another gang that maybe me and @cattivedonne might work on later in the near future <3. -> Yaxkin Yaxkin is Joelle's mother. You can check up on her little info in this post I made here a while back! I still have a lot of things to explain about her , but here is the basics! (click) -> Sora Sora was basically gonna play out as one of Joelle's first simps and later on I was thinking upon making him her husband because during that time I was still getting into Jojo and Joelle was basically a meme xD . But alas everything changed on that , because I actually want to develop him a bit more. Sure he will still be Joelle's simp , but he will play maybe a key role in my story , since I need a lot of character roles to fit in when I get to "Death to the Last First Born" . He is a very ordinary student , he grew up in a good family and he is one of the many in Josuke's class. -> Jun-Su The more I think about him the more I get silly little ideas . He will be featured in an arc that I will get to in the near future hopefully , his key role is to play as a target for the 'mystery murderer' that killed his father , since a fear began to grow that Jun-Su saw too much and might give out information he isn't supposed to , now the murderer is after him. This will be an arc that will give possible hints about what I have planned for 'Eliza' . There is still a lot I am debating on him , but this is the only spoiler I can give you! -> Katya I basically kind of wanted a big Russian mom that I was heavily inspired by a few characters from FullMetal Alchemist and the thought of her being like a guardian angel to Joelle is just--.. aaa!! She has so many dad figures , but no mom figures :(( so I figured , let's spice it up and make one strong mamma mia~ <3. She will probably go through some changes , I'll see into that. Since I basically needed someone strong and skilled , a counter to the shamans that I will be adding in my story , he is a shaman himself but he is more focused on other goals and ideals . XPD recruited him for his talents and strong will , especially when it comes to dealing with specific 'super natural forces' , plus I need a little mini antagonist for a character that is in the making ~ <3. to pick up some backstory on him , since a

lot of my characters are still a work in progress . A small little spoiler I'd gladly share is that he joins in with the Speedwagon Special Forces later on after Joelle saving his life , when his own team mate Isaac almost killing him. I've made small little comics for fun to play him out and how clingy he comes of her but my most favorite thing about Evan , is that he is Joelle's simp destroyer Lmfao!! The amount of burn her simps are going to take from this little child is gonna be hilarious xD. Cause really he wants the best for her hahahaha. Thank you for the ask curios nonny!! Got the chance to read it So here are some of my thoughts: 1. I like the romantic atmosphere that the comic starts off with warm colours and it gives a vacation ad sensation? 2. My favourite moment is in the pink strange dream world, the colours contrast to the reality of Cara. 4. Fave moment: When that mystery guy shows up and he had corny lines like a romantic parody. It seem so fantastical. 5. I like the colour palette choice of brown tones, shades of pinks. 6. I think the theme is about expectations (it's not clear atm), how Cara is distancing from real relationships and prefer to indulge. 7: I like how the creator shows Cara looking scared of confronting things. It sets an interesting tone of uncertainty. Is she hiding something?(edited)

1. I like how I don’t know what to expect. I also like how the premise is relateable; the idea that you are scared of imperfection making you have high standards in life hit close. 2) Every single time we’re treated to....Tuyetnhi’s lovely use of expression. Also the end part of episode 2, because that’s when I realized it’s going to get dark. 3) A tie between Ana and Richie. Ana because she makes me laugh with her blunt assertions (which...aren’t wrong) and Richie because he’s so flamboyant and extra. I love how much personality they all have. 4) Hands down Richie and Cara. They have a really hilarious dynamic going on. 6) The idea that people seek perfection through their dreams instead of facing reality. Also I really liked how it tackles society’s fixation on everyone to find someone....maybe Cara doesn’t need that and needs to focus on herself first? 7) That I won’t know what to expect. I came into this thinking it was going to be a classic romcom, and then I get hit with implicit horror and trippyness. I have a feeling Tuyetnhi is hinting at some darker aspects of the story we have yet to see. 8) Good lord the expressions. They really do the story justice and make me turn the page every time. Also the colours are beautiful.(edited)

1. What did you like about the beginning of the comic? I really liked the colors and island vibe. And this was even before Animal Crossing came out and I started hardcore living that island life I just love a good, soft pink to purple gradient generally speaking so the opening of the story was like falling into a comfy brain pillow for me. 2-4 I'm just gonna answer these ones kind of all together because they thoughts on then are all kind of threaded together into one big thought. After having read through the archive I really liked the scene with Ana and Cara. When I first read it I was like "dang, she's giving Cara such a hard time," but after having read the scenes where Cara just refused to admit to Richie she doesn't know what's going on I really retroactively appreciated Ana's willingness to call Cara on her bullshit XD I think it's a really good foil trait to have for a protagonist who seems dead set on avoiding confrontation even though it seems like doing so is most likely just gonna come back to bite her later. I imagine we aren't going to see Ana for a while though unless Cara is able to use her Phone A Friend card in the dream realm XD I am also looking forward to seeing more of the Cara doppelganger and how she and Cara interact with each other going forward. That feels like an exciting and drama filled mystery

Ana pointing out Cara's BS hahahaha. 3. Who is your favorite character? Definitely Ana. She's so down-to-earth from what I can tell, someone I'd want to be friends with. 4. Which characters do like seeing interact the most? Probably Ana and Cara. I like to see good friendships depicted, especially in a romance. 5. What is something you like about the art? If you have a favorite illustration, please share it! In general, everything is so soft and pretty. I also really appreciate the fact that all the characters have larger noses. If I had a favorite panel, it would be at the beginning, the sunset beach waves. 6. What is a theme you like that the comic explores? So far, I'm not sure about themes, but I like the talk about the pressure parents give to their children to get married. 7. What do you like about the comic’s story or overall related content? There's a lot of mystery, so I'm looking forward to learning about Cara's dreams, Richie, and the key. 8. Overall, what do you think the comic’s strengths are? The visuals are really nice. I like that the beginning really contrasts the dream and Cara's reality pretty quickly. I kind of feel it catches that feeling of coming out of a dream to face reality which kind of sucks, and also plays into the themes of dream vs. reality and expectation vs. reality. It's very easy to idealize things, whether as a route of escapism or just because it sounds appealing. But the reality of things generally is always different, and I like that we're seeing this full force in the comic through Cara's perspective. And the contrasts between the two really enhance those topics. My favorite moment in the comic so far is probably when Cara meets what I assume is Dean. Cause I really loved that both parties were kind of at fault, and I also liked how quickly that convo devolved into a grumpfest, because that felt very realistic. My favorite character right now is definitely Richie, because he is ridiculous and sympathetic at the same time. I adore his exaggerated personality, while at the same time feel sorry for him since for him the memories are clearly there and like...I would not want to be in the shoes of someone where the person they loved no longer remembered them. As for character interacting the most, Cara and Richie because that entire premise of one person remembering and the other not makes for a really tense and awkward situation. It's hard to tell where it's going to go. What I like about the art is the palettes of color chosen, since there's some beautiful scenery as well as fantastic contrasts when needed to make certain moments pop (like dream vs. reality).

As for the story content, what I actually like the most is that Cara is a flawed protagonist. I've read a lot of stories where the protagonist is always 100% right in the relationship and is just eternally the victim because society pressure. But Cara has a lot more going on, since she's clearly been at fault in some interactions, and while we can sympathize with people pressuring her into relationships, she also maybe takes it too far by being avoidant of basically every relationship. However, since she has these traits, I'm more invested into her personal dilemmas since she'll actually make mistakes when dealing with stuff. Which I think this is the overall strength of the comic. Cara is just a damn good protagonist who is easily likeable but isn't perfect and whose imperfections are not just brushed off so easily.

When I first started, I figured it would be some sort of awkward story where Richie comes into the real world and he has to figure out how to, like, act natural, and hilarity ensues. But holy cow, Cara losing her memories, and the slide into somewhat of a horror angle - it's not something I expected (though admittedly I could have read the synopsis lol), but it's definitely something I like!(edited)

9. I personally don’t think it was great of the people in Cara’s life to pressure her like that. Sure, they mean well, but it’s most likely bringing Cara’s self esteem down by a lot. I have a feeling that her dreams/reality colliding together is partially motivated by that; the pressure of pleasing society has made her....subconsciously take drastic measures?

10. I’m actually not sure! Maybe there’s a supernatural explanation to it, or it could all just be a dream. Dreams have a way of showing a person’s innermost desires or fears, so maybe Cara’s desires and fears are coming alive in response to external stress factors. So perhaps she opened a portal of sorts between the realms in some way (there’s a key!!!!).

11. Oh I’m thinking they might end up together. But the realist inside me thinks...perhaps what Cara needs isn’t romantic love, but more independent love and being able to love herself. What DOES worry me, however, is the fact that Richie seems...a bit desperate for Cara to like him. Is there a condition to his love after all? If so, that means that it’s possible he’s forced in some way to love her or make her love him. And that’s not really conducive to romance, is it?

12. Ah...the thing that makes me mystified the most. Cara seems to have a negative view of herself, since she told her to get out in the end of chapter two. However, Cara #2 seems to be pretty helpful; knocking on the door to tell her to get out of the house (which Richie has her in), so in a way letting her out. While our Cara seems to dislike her a lot, I think the key to the story would be our Cara needing to accept this double Cara to be really free. Maybe she will, maybe she won’t! But from what I can see from the story and like I’ve said earlier...maybe Cara needs to be able to find love within herself. Love for that Cara double, and enough love to become independent and not bend to society’s overwhelming pressure for outside romance. I hope she finds that as the story comes along, and know that it’s okay to not be ready for love.

As for Richie...hmm. He’s dealing with an amnesiac heroine, and adjusting to the real world. I’m sure it’s going to lead to some hilarious hijinks, but hopefully he can manage! He seems up to the task

I think whether people were right to pressure Cara is a tricky gray area. On the one hand, no, they were wrong. Nobody should be forced into a relationship. But on the other hand, if you know a person is actively self-sabotaging, isn't it more correct to speak up? So to me this is maybe a situation of good intentions with bad execution. However, I do think overall the comic does say pressuring people into relationships sucks and plz don't do that cause that's how you make ppl run further away. I think it's both, because a dream is reality in a sense. I think many of us have had dreams that caused real emotional affects, whether negative or positive. So the line between them is merely the fact effects are limited. Cara have may have just found a way to cross that line and make a dream a tangible thing that has more consequences. As for why her dreams, I don't know. Maybe she's just super good at dreaming. I do think as the overall message though is that dreams are good but not when we get lost in them, because then we idealize and reject "reality" in ways that aren't healthy. I do think Richie is primarily something Cara dreamt up, but kind of not maybe. Like sure maybe Cara is idea creator, but something else was involved in making the physical reality of that idea. As for Richie adjusting to Cara's world, I'm sure it will be laughably hilarious. I do think he can sort of win Cara over, at least in the sense of being friends. Cause how can you hate Richie? I'm taking a shot in the dark and saying Cara imposter is the embodiment of Cara's missing memories but since they're just memories, all they can do is imitate. As for Cara remembering, I feel like it will be yes but I kind of want it to be no. I like the idea of them having to reform a relationship entire from scratch.

Ok my turn, let's see what my head theories are: 9: I felt the same annoyance as Cara but it's a mixed feeling, Even though, people shouldn't pressure a lady on her love life, she also has a problem with being in relationships. Or I remember one quote from the story was how she 'ditched her dates by rushing to the bathroom.' although I don't know her circumstance, I do know she has issues to settle too. Relationship pressure is real, especially as a young person grows older. 10. From the comic visuals, it feels much like it's her escapism dream. The only clue I got, is that her holding a literal 'key' connecting both worlds, is evidence that both world could collide. So far, we haven't seen other people's dreams, or whether this is an unusual occurrence in the world? It seems to be a message about idealistic relationships. Since Cara seem to turn away real ones, it manifested? 11. I'm curious about Richie's character too. He seems like a powerful imagination, enough to sway the lead, so he's more than a simple figment. I wonder if his submissive, flirtatious (?) personality was build in him. He doesn't seem to have a 'life' outside his dream house, or so far. 12. I'm not sure whether the 'Other Cara' might be trying to help her or is that.. actually a shadow side? I don't want to say too much, but it's interesting to see where the story goes.(edited)

13. I really want to see how both Cara and Richie will develop as characters. Whether Cara will figure out for herself what being both independent means....and whether she does want a relationship for herself and not for other people. Likewise with Richie, I want to see if he'll be able to be his own person...and whether he's real or not. I have a lot of questions that I want to be answered, and I can't wait to keep reading.

My final words are that this comic has a strong themes game going on and an intriguing premise, so it'll be fun to see where the comic is in a few more chapters since I'm pretty sure we're in for a wild ride.

Ramblings from Yay Ninja Bob about her monstrous creation~

Besides working on my fic, I personally try to journal every day, and I realized that a lot of my journaling has become me pretty much rambling about the process of writing this damn fic lol.  So I thought I'd share some of that for those who may want to know more behind my chapters from my author's perspective. 

It's certainly not everything I can say, but it is a lot haha..

Chapter 1 - Thirteen

Behind the title:

    Well, when I first began writing VillainR, I hadn't planned on having chapter titles at all.  Mainly because coming up with chapter titles (or titles for stories in general) has always been something I struggle with personally.  Anywho after I decided I wanted to challenge myself with chapter titles, I went back and named chapter 1 "Thirteen."  Why?  Well, it is the PpG's thirteenth birthday, of course there is that.  VillainR as a whole is many things, but one major thing is it is a coming of age story for Buttercup/Joey/Jojo, as well as a story of self-discovery.   There's a few important ages I wanted to cover and 13 is around the age where many kids start to "develop" and being a super-powered kid,  Buttercup finally begins to develop her own "special power" at this age.  I wanted this "growing pain" to be the catalyst for the events of Part One.  So, I gave the chapter the title of "Thirteen" to try to highlight the significance of that age for Buttercup. The self-discovery made at this age is that special power (although they are unaware of it at this point).  It's considered an unlucky number, and as it turns out, it is an unlucky year for our main character.

During the writing process:

     First draft was written on Halloween night 2019 and pretty much all of it was completely scrapped haha. 

     I started writing it in first person, like the original Villain, in Buttercup's POV.   I kept the events but approached it again in third person and liked it so much better that way.  One major thing I wanted to improve on with the rewrite was character development which is pretty hard to achieve when writing in a limited POV of a character who eventually loses sight of much around them.  I debated briefly on maybe doing alternating POVs between Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup, but then I felt like it would still exclude a lot for other major characters like Mojo and Princess.  I could add them too but I thought alternating too many POVs would be overwhelmingly difficult (for me as the author for sure but I imagine for the reader too)  Third person seemed to be the best way to handle everything and really my only challenge with that was tweaking the whole "unreliable narrator" trope which I will be honest is my favorite trope ever. It is a challenge to try to recreate the same effect in third person, but I decided that a close third person was the best way to 1) tell a broader story and 2) still set limits on the reader's perspective, and control when and how I drop information and attempt to recreate a similar experience in an entirely new way I've never tried before heh.  (I guess I will spend more time on this on my notes for Chapter 6)

     Second draft I scribbled out in another few days with this new approach.  It began at the start of the carnival and ended where it ends.   Simultaneously I was reworking my overall outline for the fic and began to narrow down all the characters I wanted to be my key players for this epic.  Once my outline was expanded to include everyone, I added the scene with Mojo and Him.  For me, that's when I was like "Ayyy it's all coming together 👍👍" haha.

     Another thing I wanted to improve on was setting and world-building.  So final draft I decided to include some "history" behind Townsville and that's when I worked out the final draft.

    This chapter definitely had the most trial and error during the writing process than any other chapter other than 5 so far.

Inspirations:

     Townsville world-building/history - much of it is inspired by the city I grew up in (for the most part) which is Los Angeles. I mean it has all the sort of settings we've seen in the show which are all pretty diverse right?  Townville had to have a diverse cityscape ranging from a busy downtown setting to quite suburbs to upperclass mansions, beaches, an island, forests, etc.  Well I knew LA had all that and so I tried to re-imagine Townsville as basically an alternate universe LA lol. Monster Isle, I based on research I did on Catalina Island.  I imagined the Utonium household was in a middle class neighborhood like Pasadena- close to the heart of LA but still a relatively "calmer" part of the city.  Morbucks Manor would be in the Hills like Beverly Hills.  Downtown was the heart of the city like Downtown LA.  I debated briefly whether or not to have the Gangreen Gang be from an area modeled after South Central or East LA, but eventually I went with East LA because TBH I am just more familiar with it since that's where my mom's side is from and where I grew up early on in life.  PLUS East LA actually has a pretty big punk scene so that fit the story too with Ace being in a punk band and all that.

   (OK most of my pop culture refs are just punk references lets be honest lol.  Why Punk?? - because it is rebellion and rebellion is the heart of this fic)

     The Clash - OK in original Villain I established that this was Buttercup's favorite band so I HAD to have that back for the redux. Here's all the refs I crammed into chapter 1 lol:

   "Oh, Man! It's so hard to choose, like, I love literally everything by them. But I gotta say it's a tie probably between their first album and London Calling."

"Hell yeah. Jimmy Jazz is my jam."

"You know, my band does a cover of White Riot," Ace continued to talk music with the teenager as he lit his cigarette and took a deep drag. He held the smoke in his lungs as he continued, "Only we call our version Green Riot."

Blondie:

     The one artist Buttercup had introduced Robin to that she instantly obsessed over was Blondie.

(Some) Symbolism:

     - Blossom is 5'9" and Buttercup is 5'8" - Buttercup is always falling one step behind Blossom.

     - Bumper Car scene - has some foreshadowing and well...

Blossom sat behind the wheel of a red bumper car at the opposite end of the metal floored rink. Buttercup crossed her arms in protest, "No way. I'm driving." she demanded.

Blossom also crossed her arms from where she sat behind the metal wheel. "So you can just rampage and crash into everybody here? No way." She fastened her seat belt with a quick snap and placed her hands firmly on the steering wheel again.

"Ugh. That's the whole point of bumper cars! It's to bump the other cars! You're supposed to try and bump everyone before the times up!"

"You always take it too far, Buttercup. I'm driving, so get in." The redhead grasped the steering wheel in her hands firmly, and refused to move.

And...

"You drive like an old lady," Buttercup shook her head in disbelief as her sister managed to avoid yet another collision.

"Well, that's your opinion," she shrugged off the insult, "Personally, I think it takes just as much skill to avoid every single car in here, as it does to hit every single car," she smiled at her sister.

And finally a brief allusion to the OG Villain lol...

"Blossom!" Buttercup shouted louder so she could get her sister's attention. She pointed at the fast approaching purple car that zoomed towards them from their right side. Behind the wheel of that car was Bubbles who wore a rather determined look on her face as Robin cheered for her.

Blossom saw, but by then it was too late. Bubbles and Robin's car slammed into Buttercup and Blossom's car at full force, spinning Buttercup and Blossom's car into the wall of the arena. The loud buzz which signified the end of the ride then sounded.

    - the roller coaster is Buttercup's ideal carnival attraction; it's got the thrills, twists, turns, ups and downs.  And makes Bubbles sick.

     - the Ferris Wheel is Blossom's ideal carnival attraction; it's a staple of any fair, grand and big, overlooks everything, and traditionally romantic

YNB's favorite scene:

     Personally, I loved writing the whole exchange between Buttercup and Blossom in the car.  Establishing their rivalry, Buttercup's jealousy over Blossom's special power and heroism, Blossom's projection of her own insecurities, their differences, and their commonality. 

Final thoughts on the chapter:

     I was pretty satisfied with how it turned out but I did wait to post it until I had a decent headstart on chapter 2.  I was pretty nervous about whether or not I could stay personally committed to writing this fic so I just wanted to make sure I was really feeling it first, lol.  It had been so long since I'd written fanfic so I just needed to be sure.

     When I outlined everything I estimated the chapter length to be around 6-7k words... And I was surprised that it was double that at about 12k.  Which was wild because on my outline each opening chapter for Part 1, 2 and 3 were supposed to be shorter and more like preludes to everything else.  Well, I guess they ARE shorter chapters but STILL definitely longer than any chapter I used to write for my multichaptered stories.   At the time I thought "Ok obviously my writing has changed but surely I wont go much longer than 12k for future chapters...."  Hurr hurr.

     Personally, I was pretty proud of myself for spending so much time on it and rewriting it over and over and all that.  In the past, TBH whatever was my first draft was pretty much also my last draft haha.  I cranked out a chapter in one sitting usually and edited it mayyyybeee lol.  I just wanted to get it posted so I could move on and get to that next point in the story.   But I suppose now that I'm older and a bit more self aware, I realize a lot of my own anxieties manifest a lot in my writing though and I can recognize it in my old works like the OG Villain where I JUST WANNA GET TO WHAT I WANT TO WRITE RIGHT NOW OK??  I forced myself to slow the hell down this time, take it one scene at a time, and when things felt off I took breaks, slept on it for a few days and came back with new approaches or ideas.   And so far that's how I continue to work on it.

   Also, CHVRCHES.  I listened to a ton of that band while working on this chapter especially.

Classicaloid is a lot of things, but it knows how to throw all the firecrackers, disco balls, and Jojo references at you in the most satisfying way possible.

Just like S1 Ep 24, it really knew how to end it’s plot in a explosive manner.

Also Kanae having to fight herself, like I know that’s waved away as Wagner creating Nega Kanae (we’ll get to that in a minute) but Kanae having to fight the personification of basically how she took care of Wagner, being apart of his life but ultimately not knowing that he didn’t need just a cool big sister who let him do whatever made him happy, but a driving force in his life that would tell him when he’s wrong but remind him that even if he was, it’s okay, because he has people who love him.

Speaking of, Wagner created some punk version of Kanae because she was the only figure in his life who he thought could protect him. Wagner feeling he was botched and therefore unloved and the fact he worked hard to prove he was just as good as the rest of the Classicaloids had everything to do with the fact Wagner felt like he had a disability that was holding him back from possibly being loved LITERALLY FIGHT ME OKAY LIKE I LIKE WAGNER YES HE’S A LITTLE SHIT BUT LISTEN

He is a bad boy but he is a sad boy and while it doesn’t excuse anything he’s done, I’m glad he gets to learn from this and get that sweet unconditional love

ACen summary+loot picts

I wasn’t going to make a report post on ACen because well, a lot of shit happened - and I mean negative stuff. I enjoyed the con despite it, one of the things that happened made me stay out on the floor for longer which actually made me enjoy the con more?? Which sounds weird, but hey it worked out lmao. But here we go, starting Thurs-Sun~

Thurs So, I had to work Thursday till 5pm, right? Well, as I was heading to work, I kept thinking to myself ‘I have this weird feeling and a weird taste in my mouth. I feel kind of...’ so once I get to work, I start drinking some sprite to try and settle my stomache. It does the exact opposite. I’m rushing back and forth from the bathroom and work, until finally, I throw up. Luckily in the bathroom, but oh man, I have never gotten sick at work. So my boss is all ‘if you can find someone to cover you, you can go home, but you cannot leave the new girl by herself.’ which duh, I was just going to stick it out, but then my sour stomach returned and I was shaky all over again and I caved. 

So I get sent home at like, 115? ish? And go back to sleep until about 3. I get some medicine pumped in me and then head out with my sister. The further I get away, the better I feel. Which, I fully believe my getting sick was a lack of sleep/stress thing than actually being sick with something. As I’ve been pulling doubles, not sleeping very well, and working all the damn time. ANYWAYS

Here’s the fun part.

We get to the hotel we’re staying at to check in, a little past 9, finally. Only for them to tell us, hey - you’re only reserved for Thursday, your Fri-Sun had been cancelled. Which made no sense as my sister had called them a month before the con, made sure everything was set. So when they said there was nothing they could do, we manage to find a diff hotel that has a shuttle service and settle for it. My sister and I still discuss possible mistakes that could have happened because we’ve been going to this hotel for yeeeaaars and never had this problem before (incorrect card number, wrong emails, conflicting card numbers - as thursday had been an add on, etc) but once we are in our hotel room, I actually was kind of satisfied. We were at a quiet one and I was able to really sleep - which I sorely needed anyways from the lack of sleep I had been getting. So we all relax, sleep and get ready for Friday~

Fri Friday marked the actual start of the con <3, so we go to the shuttle, which the driver was very nice and took us there within 5 mintues. We get in line for the exhibit hall because hell, we had nothing else to do. (None of the panels this year interested me at all.) We get in and just soak up the atmosphere. The chalk painting this year was JoJo <3 I was happy to see it being Part 1 & 2 JoJo haha, nothing against 3+ but Most people associate 3 with JoJo ^^ Plus Joseph best JoJo. Anyways

I also really loved how ACen was laid out this year. The artist alley had its own room, which I hope it gets that treatment again next year. It made everything more spacious. They had actual food stations - which alcohol and cooked food, not just the convention center snack station (they also had pokeball cakepops, which was cute) I also loved how the gaming room and all panels were all in the convention center. I doubt this will work out that way again next year - as usually prom is held in the spaces they had, but it was really cool. And it only solidified how my sister and I both felt about trying the other hotels instead of the primary one.

So after lounging around the convention, we head back to the hotel. Our shuttle is too busy w the airport, so we had to take a taxi back, which was okay, as all three of us had enough to where it wasn’t expensive. We order food and then play CAH~ My sister had made ACen specific ones and it was so much fun lmao

After lounging around for a couple of hours, my sister and I head back to go to Oregon Trail panel - which is a lot of fun, as always. I was surprised both people who read the fanfiction out loud this year didn’t laugh and gave awesome performances!

We then call out shuttle, they say they would get there in 10 minutes, they are an hour late lmaaao meanwhile, Comfort Inn shuttles come about six times. Another hotel we’ll look into next year~

Sat Since our hotel was much further away this year, this was technically our last day at the convention. We scour artist alley and exhibit hall one last time for any purchases we want to make. And then we just relax a bit. Around 4-5, I head over to the Voltron Gathering, just to see what cosplays were there. I don’t stick around as I’m with people who don’t care and honestly? Photo gatherings tire me out anyways ^^; But I see Keith and Lance in their swimsuits and I’m just thinking ‘oh my god, aren’t you guys cold? D;’ Like, it was barely 60 degrees that day and rainy sob. How were they not freezing? fj;ldk

The cosplays were all great, but I was too shy to come up and say anything to anyone www

We leave the photoshoot and then just hang around the con again, relaxing and enjoying cosplays we see. And then we head back, watch the new episode of my hero academia and p much go to bed~

Sun Just leaving the whole place, I just wanted to add this section because LMAO I forgot to get my quarters out of my bag, it was in the trunk so we had tolls coming up and I was like ‘shiiiit’ luckily two of three tolls had a person, so gave paper money to them and then had enough quarters for the machine one j;gkfdljg;

So yeah, in short - ACen had a lot of bumps this year, A LOT OF BUMPS. But, those things actually made the con even better because I wasn’t just sitting in my hotel room the entire time bored, I was kept stimulated by the sights and sounds of the con <3

I plan on going again next year, as long as life permits it and will probably cosplay next year for real~ (only one is planned so far but I’d like to do a voltron one next year too)

I got a tabby cat kigu, as my old bunny kigu was falling apart ^^; I got PERIOD PANTIES - Stranger Things & Beetlejuice. It was ironic that they were selling this at the con because guess what can on Friday~ lol

Probably my favorite purchase at the artist alley i made  BEELINE TOWARD HER STUFF because I saw it on her tumblr and was all ‘ooohmygod i hope she brought it!!’

My klance + sheith pins <3 Sadly they didn’t have hance and heith, and shance... i would have bought them all D;

My klance badgies lmao I got these MOSTLY because the person was like ‘you get a dollar off your first one for cosplalying lance’ even tho my cosplay was actually a cosplaybound and just inspired outfit ^^- ah well, i’d take it!!

The connecting pic of the lanyard is also a purchase at con <3 (the joke through out the con was ‘i wonder if dee likes voltron?’ because I was so voltron decked out!)

These are hanging from my con money bag <3 The voltron one had a lot of reeeeaaally cute sheith and klance things. I really wanted them too, but I felt I needed one with them all and couldn’t resist that one. And then that strap had two of my otps so i was like ‘its calling to me’ lol

Last of the loot~ I don’t know what I’m going to do w my hufflepuff pins yet, but I loved them and they were a bundle at a cheaper price together so i was like ‘uh, sure?’ and then FINALLY got my tourabu son
