Me: Wouldn’t it be cute if Mera took on the role of a parent figure in Hawks’ life when he grew up in the Hero Comission? Even if they’d never call the other “son” and “dad”, you would just feel that bond between them that they wish to mention out loud but never does.

Also me: Holy shit, wait up, hold on-  Mera and Tomie look a bit alike with their fluffy hair, so what if they are related and Mera is really Hawks’ uncle or first cousin or something??!! 

( Also, apparently “Mera” is written as Me which means "eye" and ra which means "good". His given name, "Yokumiru" means "to look closely".

Tomie's first name contains the kanji for "distant", "to see" and "painting, picture". (Her last name, Ukai, contains the kanji for "feather" and "to keep". Although, I’m not sure if Ukai is her original maiden name or if it’s an entirely new name she got when the Comission told her to drop all connection to "Takami" to start a new life.)

So Meras’ name refers to having a good eye and look closely at things while Tomie literally has floating eyeballs that might help her look at any direction and depending on how far away from her they can float, maybe look for things / keeping watch around different corners. Her name (Unless the “distant” part refers to her acting distant to her son) also refers to her being able to see from a distance and is painting a picture of her surroundings.

So both of them are conected to “eyes” and “to look out for things”.

Maybe I should get Shoto to look into this conspiracy with me? )
