[1] Yo, the phoenix is rising

Allen's pretty closely connected to Zhuque, the Vermillion Bird of Chinese mythlogy due to his surname (which carries over to his MC name, Suzaku, the Japanese pronunciation of Zhuque).

This lyric is literally just about a phoenix but 火の鳥 is typically referring to the Chinese variety, so I feel it would be weird not the mention the connection here.

Hajun says something in Korean here but I don't know kr in any way shape or form, so big thank you to the one Japanese fan I found in the comments who theorised he says 우아現に, the Korean part of which I've machine TL'd here.

~ the words “catch me” came from your lips as you were dancing on the stage. you were happily dancing when you decided to lean towards the edge of the stage and fall. iori caught you while thinking you were the most beautiful and bright person in the entire universe. the happy incident had occurred on the first night that you met him, however those same words would forever haunt him as he heard you mutter that phrase once again on a hospital bed. in that moment he heard nothing else but your melodic voice and unstable breathing, but watched the electrocardiogram go flat in agony and heartache, once again feeling the pain of losing a loved one.

~ kanata never needed nor wanted a relationship until he met you. you lit up every room you walked in and (literally) fell into his arms. you came to a paradox live concert and walked through the crowd only to trip and fall, crying out for help, and asking someone to catch you. by happy coincidence, kanata had caught you and surprisingly, that moment would bring him something he never imagined he could ever obtain. unfortunately, only happy endings occur in fantasies. walking home together on a cold, dark night, you see a shadow creeping towards you, then feel them brush past you. you suddenly feel your vision start to go blurry and your legs go numb. you calmly glance at your beloved, asking him to catch you as he sees a dagger and the crimson liquid pouring from your chest. he sees the light fade from your eyes while holding you in his arms, with those same words running through his mind.

~ yohei remembers seeing your figure run up to him as he entered your shared apartment. the words he heard as you leapt into his arms. “catch me.” he had never felt so happy in his entire life, to be with someone who trusted him and loved him. however, those happy moments did not last forever. while climbing up a flight of stairs, someone had rushed by you, causing you to lose your balance and fall over the rail. the same words that had brought him so much happiness would also cause him to feel immense pain and guilt. his hand barely brushed yours as he watched you fall, tears of sadness and regret pouring out of both of your eyes, knowing that this is your last moment together. 

yeon hajun ♡

~ it was your first date with hajun where you were skipping around a flower field and lost your balance. you asked him to catch you which led to him also losing his balance and tumbling down a hill with you in his arms. the occurrence ended in much laughter, happiness, and peace. however, that sentence would not just end in a happy accident, but a fatal tragedy as well. a terminal disease had plagued you for the past few months without you knowing, and it had finally peaked. you suddenly lost balance and with the fall, lost your consciousness too. whispering that same phrase which would leave hajun devastated and empty. after hearing the news from a doctor, hajun held your hand only praying that this was all just a bad dream.

Four in the morning, on the dot, and Yohei strolls into the bar. You glanced up from the glass you were cleaning to give him a soft, almost sad smile. He just nods before taking up his usual spot at the end of the bar. A couple minutes later, he has a whiskey in front of him and he’s leaning over the bar so you can light his cigarette.

These days the two of you don’t even talk much. To him, there’s not much to talk about. To you, there’s too much to talk about. So the two of you continue to pass each other like two ships in the night.

Yohei used to be so full of life and conversation. He made jokes and kept the creeps away from you. That’s what drew you to him in the first place: he was always taking care of you.

Now you were lucky if you even got a word out of him.

Something had changed in him through the years. Something made him a little wiser, a little darker, a little sadder. You wondered often what it could be that took the Yohei you knew away but you never knew how to ask.

You have also changed through the years. You dropped out of college and were homeless for a year. Then the owner of the bar found you and taught you how to make drinks. You’ve been working at the bar ever since and lived in a flat across the street. It wasn’t the life of luxury you imagined, but wasn’t the worst thing in the world either.

All you wished for now was to have your Yohei back in your life.

When you found out he was friends with the bar’s owner and visited every day, you tried to talk to him. But he never said a word. He just drank a couple whiskies and smoked a cigarette. The only indication that he was still somewhat the same was whenever a patron got too rowdy, he’d put them in their place. He was still taking care of you after all these years.

Thinking about it now, even though your romantic feelings for him were still there, you’d settle for just being friends again. Hell, even just a kind word from him would be more bearable than whatever this is. You wished he didn’t see you as a stranger. But maybe that’s what he wanted.

And it practically destroyed you.

You couldn’t help but sigh. No, you were tired. So tired of acting like he had to be in charge, that he had to make the first move. You decided the ball is in your court and you need to make a play or risk losing him forever.

So you decided to disappear into the kitchen for a few minutes, not noticing his look of confusion. When you reemerged, you finally saw his look of suspicion. It hurt to see him look at you like that but you ignored it.

Instead, you put a slightly burnt grilled cheese and a bowl of tomato soup in front of him with a sigh.

“Please, Yohei.” You whispered. “Please let me take care of you.”

I assume he's vaguing Hajun here? This is the vs. BAE round after all.. Not a note on the translation I just think it's funny.

Everyone else is spreading positive messages and singing about their personal trauma and growth and Yohei's insulting these young adults like there's no tomorrow. But hey, whatever gets you hyped, man...

[2] Verse 2 [Saimon]

This is my first time translating any Saimon lyrics and I'm hoping I managed to convey his... verbosity in my translation.

The fact that Saimon, a language professor, has such wordy verses has always been one of my favourite things about TCWs music, so I wanted to portray that faithfully. Hopefully with time I'll get better at it, too.

[3] Don’t let the secrets slip, it’s classified info 

Ryu actually lists two things here, classified/top-secret info and management/administrative info. I couldn't find a way to fit both in in a way that doesn't sound awkward and I think classified encompassed both in end.

[4] This moment is the most exciting of all!

Yet again this isn't really much of a translation note but, this line in particular I like because Natsuki Hanae-san (the voice actor of Ryu) likes to play with this line at the live shows sometimes, changing the first bit to be the name of whatever venue they're at. Like Nissho Hall is the most exciting of all!

I worded it like this specifically because I wanted to be able to keep that for my own amusement. I love the seiyuu lives...

[5] He taught me how to have faith

It's not entirely clear who's doing the 'teaching' here but I assume it's religion/God.

But, really, this could be also be alluding to Saimon and Bar 4/7 overall. Shiki's character has a nice crossover between his literal faith in God, and faith in his friends and admiration of those who saved him. Long-winded explanation of why I tled it this way lol
