Not So Smug Now, Are Ya?

If Lois Lane had a Nickel for everytime she outed a superhero working at the Daily Planet, she'd be getting her second nickel.

She had invited one Daniel Nightingale, a junior reporter with serious potential with a serious lack of self preservation to "a smoke break" and was prepared to do exactly what she did with Clark. If her gut was right when it told her Nightingale was a hero too, the mysterious Phantom, he'd save her before she'd jump. If not, then Clark would jump in to grab her if he didn't rise to her bait.

When he finally got up there with her, she sure as hell wasn't expecting him to tell her why he shouldn't smite her soul out of existence there and now. Her blood ran cold when he told her that Clark has been "compromised", a portal opening up with a snap lf his fingers dropping an unconscious mountain of a man facefirst on the ground.

"You were supposed to die that day you jumped off this building, Ms. Lane. Did you know that?" Danny growls as a scythe made of ice, niking her neck as he has an unhinged Cheshire grin on his face "Clark was never supposed to save you that day? So... what are we going to do about this now?"

I imagine Simon has chronic headaches and the occasional migraine. He's just perpetually tense, the neck and head pain are a side effect of that.

Omega, after Simon stops wearing the mask 24/7, catches him sucking on ice cubes one day. His right eye, the one that's always a little more narrow than the other in the games, is almost fully closed, the other half-lidded. She pesters him until he admits that he's got a headache that's somehow so bad that he can feel it in his teeth and roof of his mouth. Pain meds hadn't touched it.

Cue Omega begging Kyle to take her to the store after she alerts Johnny to go take care of his alpha in her absence. They end up at the nearest Asda and Kyle, once he gets the full plan from Omega, tells her to go wild and not pay attention to prices. She grabs a tiny gift basket and stuffs it with different pain medicines, a few large ice packs, menthol cough drops to make cold water feel even colder to soothe the mouth pain, a card with a pun that's on par with his dad jokes. It just so happens to be around Halloween when the migraine attack happens - the little Grim Reaper plush keychain at the register ends up in the basket too.

She finds the keychain hanging from a thumbtack on his bulletin board a week later.

I could see Simon with chronic headaches. He's probably gotten his share of head injuries and gets some awful chronic pain from them.

Oh she absolutely would do that. It would be so sweet, her making a little care package for him. She'd throw in all kinds of things and make it super special. I love the grim reaper key chain so much. He'd secretly love it all and be so touched by it. Definitely hangs the key chain up and keeps the basket where he can see it so he can be reminded of what she did for him 🥺

Interesting!! I've been thinking hard about who would have caught his eye; But ultimately...

For someone like Regal, he needs someone patient enough to bare through his own trauma's and anger issues. Give him a helpful hand and yet bull headed enough to stand their own ground when he's in the wrong.

Someone who has either;

Strong sense of Justice, Integrity, or Self Perseverance.

Absolutely kind to those who deserve it; But likes to see someone who stands up for themselves, too. That balance he doesn't have. (He's rude to everyone, no matter who it is besides those higher above him.)

Someone who is as blunt as he is; He'll say whats on his mind and not worry about the trigger it'll cause the other.

A type of being who can take him on; Either verbally or physically. Bonus if it's both, he enjoys to debate and see someones way of thinking by bringing up hard topics. And a battle buddy? Even better. (Though he much prefers mental strength over physical- If he likes someone and they aren't strong like that, he'll still enjoy to playfully wrestle just out of fun.)

Someone gentle enough to come and help him talk through his issues, even if it's like pulling teeth getting him to talk. He has always refused to talk about what is bugging him, mainly because it never got him anywhere and the vulnerability makes him physically & mentally sick.

These are all the traits I've given Ribba the Rabbit; His second in command. Though, she doesn't argue with him due to their status and her being below him; But if they weren't work mates? I'm more than sure it wouldn't be a slow burn between the two ♥

So long as someone's bubbly but doesn't take someone's shit; Someone shows their loved ones both tough and gentle love where it counts; You're going to be on his radar, even if he isn't going to admit it.

Ah, has Padme noticed that Obi-Wan is assigned to Senate duty and that's why she's making assumptions about why Anakin is worried?

this chapter and the last chapter take place within like...an hour or so of each other -- so no one knows yet about obi-wan's new assignment cause he's been given it only a little bit ago!

i think padmé really is trying in this chapter, trying to speak anakin's language and understand him - and i think she really does, as much as she can. she's relating her experiences of being worried about anakin to anakin's experiences being worried about obi-wan (which baby, honey. are you really not going to notice that you're talking to anakin as if he's obi-wan's wife).

in my opinion, she's not really making assumptions about why anakin is worried here. anakin flat out tells her that he was worrried that obi-wan was injured, that that's why he stayed.

she's really just trying to get him to realize that he shouldn't go running off to be by obi-wan's side every time he gets an intrusive thought that obi-wan could be hurt when logically there's a very slim chance that he has been been and a very big chance that he could get help IF he ever was. because the war is over. obi-wan has amazing access to the best healthcare on coruscant. he would be FINE if he felt a sudden twinge in his chest or whatever.

it's just that anakin doesn't want to hear that. anakin doesn't want to live in a world where he can't drop everything to get to obi-wan's side. anakin doesn't want space between him and his master. he doesn't get why he should. if that's because of the war, like he sorta implies in the chapter, or if it's always been like that for him--for them, i don't think matters as much right now as the fact that anakin and anakin's wife are on solidly opposite ends of this debate

and it's really only going to get more rocky from here as we move away from the end of the war and both of them have different expectations of what comes next

But give me a non romantic relationship story and I go absolutely FERAL. It consumes my entire being. Gimme that human connection I crave it

Every once in a while I'll despair a little at finding so little Hina and/or Rui or Koorime content in general and then I'll recall how in a post asking "whatever character you're drawing their fate is yours now", a description of mine of Hina (I think I said "had illegal sex and will die in illegal childbirth (allegedly, in the manga, but yes does die) or by suicide after having said illegal childbirth (allegedly, in the anime)") picqued someone's interest and they wondered what that character was from. I told them and then they never asked me any further abt that (fair, it's a heavy description to hear on the Internet from a stranger and the yyh fandom is terrifying and Hina's presence in the story as "tragic female character willing to die in childbirth" and it being not left to much speculation Why She Was Willing To Do That aside from the expectant "well she's a female character and she was written by a man so it must've been the ye old ideal and self-sacrificing mother trope" are all fine reasons that come to mind) but I'm carrying that affirmation in my heart! I know that if a character's story is just told in an interesting way, they can in fact become interesting through that interpretation, even if at first they were expected to be boring.
