To be honest my biggest "my WoL would not do that" in the whole game is when I, playing a WoL called Bounding Frog who named herself from her lifelong love of studying frogs, was called out for acting like a bad frog by Erenville, a man apparently her equal in Frog Knowledge. I have to believe that Alphi-toad and Ali-toad were so bad at being toads that even though Frog was doing her best to be realistic and guide them, it was hopeless and their poor acting was what betrayed them to the frog guy.

Still thinking about that Lucy Gray "wears her sexuality on her sleeve" and "manipulates people" quote. And how Katniss is a "survivor" but Lucy Gray is "the opposite" of her.

Because although not confirmed, it's implied that underage Lucy Gray performed some sex work to survive and provide for her orphaned family in a post-war country.

Imagine if Francis Lawrence had said Finnick Odair "wears his sexuality on his sleeve" and "manipulates people." Like...it's not wrong. Finnick does act more sexual than any other character in the series and he uses his sexuality to get secrets out of people (thus manipulating them).

But he is also a victim of sex trafficking that began when he was a teenager and forced through threats to his vulnerable loved ones.

Do you see why this comment is still making me sick days later? It implied Lucy Gray has some evil agenda because she "manipulates". It makes her sound like a liberated woman in control to "wear her sexuality on her sleeve." She is a disenfranchised teenage girl. She is traumatized. Yet none of that gets references or contextualized. Not even the slightest bit. Katniss ("almost asexual" and "stoic" now, apparently) is a heroine, Lucy Gray (sexual, manipulative, and wily) is the opposite of her.

I get that TBOSAS is a hard sell, but come on. Can we not give Coriolanus's pitch on characters please?

no offense but luis, maggie, and jim are canonically more important to scott than they the van dynes (family/support system wise). maggie and jim paxton coparent cassie with scott, and supported him constantly while he was under house arrest. luis is scott���s BEST friend who roomed with him in prison, started a business with him, and lived with him for two years while scott was under house arrest. leaving them out of ant man 3 was genuinely disrespectful not only to them, but to scott. how hard would it have been to include a minor subplot or even one scene including them?

A fictional man will have absolutely nothing going for him and have negative depth at best and people will scream that he's automatically Complex™ and Interesting™ simply because he's fucked up, but a female character will have a rich inner emotional world that reverberates through the story and holds up some genuinely complicated themes and people will yawn and go, "You literally could not pay me to care."
