can we PLEASE talk about how season 6 episode 1 of hate crimes md House sees Freedom Master, whos clearly sick, but happy, and House gives nothing but a confused glance because happy people don't belong where he is. But then he sees this guy try to help everyone, advocate for other patients, happy as can be to be helpful. Then that doctor House already doesn't like starts calling Steve out for being delusional and sick and House knows that but does it matter? He's happy, he's functioning, he's not hurting anyone he's helping people. Then that doctor yells at Steve that his wife is dead (his Amber is dead) and suddenly all the fight is gone. Steve breaks down, he doesn't come out of his room, he's not happy anymore but wasn't the point of that stupid fucking ward to make people happy and helpful and functioning? Freedom Master was all that before they threw who he was back in his face and what if that reminded House of Wilson, right after Amber?

So House took him out, stole a car, put a smile on Steve's face because obviously the other doctors were just trying to crush them to pieces and reshape them into perfect cookie cutter shapes just like everyone else. He let Steve fly, for a minute, because it brought back the happy, helpful, kind person he was.

But then he watched Steve jump out of a second story parking lot because he wanted to fly again. And House could barely walk, he couldn't run. And Steve fell and it was House's fault.
