'god, i'm such a kid,' ellie thought to herself as she fixed the crinkle in her flannel shirt. as usual, she felt a bit conscious of her appearance whenever she went to the house of her bandmate to practice for their upcoming gigs.
with one heavy breath, she brought her hands up and knocked gently on the door. it was really unlike her– she could care less about stupid harold's door, but she didn't.
once it opened to reveal his younger sister, all thoughts were wiped clean from her mind. suddenly, you were all she could think about, from how cute you looked in your pajamas, to how those fuzzy house slippers fit your soft and caring personality.
"hi, ellie," you greeted sweetly, and god, could she just melt right then and there. she wouldn't mind going to harold's every weekend if she could always have this kind of welcome.
"hey, doll," she greeted back, ruffling your already bad bedhair, earning a whine from you. "harry there?"
you nodded and let her in, immediately going in for a hug. if it were anyone else, she would've punched the living lights out of them for invading her personal space, but this was you. you could cozy up to her as much as you (and she) wanted.
"you should go down now, he'll be there in a bit, just changing clothes."
she put an arm around your shoulders and leaned her head onto yours. "i can spare a few minutes for my favorite girl."
"and if you don't take your arms off her, i'll spare a few minutes to body slam you on the ground."
ellie raised her hands and chuckled at your overprotective brother, who was rushing down and suddenly pushing her to the direction of the basement and away from you.
"call you later, princess!" ellie hollered playfully, getting a 'sure thing, baby!' in return, much to your brother's annoyance.
harry started with his usual monologue whenever he caught her flirting with you, be it in their home or school. he always went on about how you were his most precious baby sister who deserved everything nice the world could offer, and that you were off-limits until you graduated because your family only wanted the best for your future. he even said his parents could throw him in a ditch somewhere if it meant you achieved your dreams.
ellie raised an eyebrow at him, feeling that she was never going to completely get used to this kind of brotherly side of harold. she inched away from him and went to her spot, saying, "chill out, dude. one more sentence, and i'm gonna think you have a sis complex or something.."
harry's jaw dropped in disbelief. "how dare you, ellie," he whined, throwing an empty can of soda at her, to which she just laughed. he scoffed then turned serious, "you all know how she got to where she is now, right? i just wanna make sure..."
"yeah, totally, i get you, har," she cut him off, not wanting to make him explain any more. she knows it was hard to talk about the traumatic event his sister went through and his family had to overcome together.
"ellie's just being ellie, but you know we all care about y/n. don't worry, har," emma quipped from the corner as she was fine tuning her own instrument.
"yeah relax," she told him, "i'm just happy to be around her. i like the influence she has on me. i'd take care of her the way i want to, but i won't cross the line without your go signal, harry." she showed him a thumbs up, which he returned.
harold smiled and thanked his bandmates, and ellie couldn't help but feel warm. she had a found another family in them, and she was beyond grateful. not many people her age have the bonds that their little band shared with one another. she was thankful that some people actually accepted her for who she was and treated her the same way they would treat their own close family members. joel was the only one she had at first, but because of them, her world expanded and became even better.
with that, she decided to let the matter go first and stop giving their poor leader a headache. her feelings for his most precious sister could be dealt with some other time, preferrable when everyone's less stressed about it.
"ellie?" you answered the door in surprise, looking at your friend with curious eyes. "what are you doing here?"
ellie cocked her head to the side in confusion. "practice, doll. what do you mean?"
you stepped aside and opened the door, letting her in that morning. she ruffled your hair as always and went in, plopping down on one of the chairs in the living room comfortably. it was her second home after all-- no one would contest that.
"i know, but didn't you get harry's text?" ellie's eyebrows furrowed, bringing her cellphone out to check. "he said practice would start later evening. he and lance had to rush to uni for a report," you told her, sitting on the other couch near her seat.
ellie scrolled through her messages and didn't see a notification, which was odd because harry never missed messaging reminders, especially if they were about their schedules. he respected their time way too much to do that. it must've been a mistake-- that, or he was messing with her, waking her up that early for no reason.
she mumbled a few profanities, swearing to get back at him, before putting her phone aside and slouching on the chair. "well, i guess i'll spend the day here. got nothin' else to do anyway," she said, folding her arms behind her head, hoping your eyes would at least linger a bit on her body. and they do.
she smirked a little when you abruptly looked away and turned the television on, showing Kingdom on the streaming app. "mi casa su casa, els."
els. she was only ever gonna like that nickname if you say it.
"have you eaten, babygirl?" she stood up, scrutinizing your face for any indication that you were affected by the pet name. she did a little fist pump in her mind when she saw the blush on your cheeks deepen in a redder shade. "can i cook for us?"
you cleared your throat and waved your hand, pretending to be nonchalant. "our kitchen is your kitchen. and you know what i like already, so pleasee," you spoke, lying down on the couch without looking at her.
ellie smiled dipped down, coming face to face with you and your adorable blush. "me, right?"
she laughed when you pushed her face away, complaining that the two of you were too close and she should go ahead and cook because she was starving. ellie affirmed and let her know their food would be ready in several minutes, obliging her princess who doesn't know she's her princess yet.
she got in the kitchen, cleaned her hand and the cooking wares she was going to use, and decided to just go for a typical omelette with bacon and sausages. kid ellie would always say that she would be caught dead first before ever cooking for a man, and she made sense because the only person she would cook for was her girlfriend who wasn't her girlfriend yet.
when the meal was almost done, she peeked inside and saw that you already set up your dining table for the two of you, meaning there really was no one around.
"y/n, babe, food's done," ellie called, and you were there to assist her in no time, preparing all the food in their respective plates. you two brought it over the table, and immediately chowed down on the food as if you weren't being fed by your parents and brother.
ellie looked at you fondly as you chewed on your food carefully, wanting to avoid any incident that might humiliate you somehow. she was just glad you were eating comfortably compared to back then when it was harder. she would cook and cook for eternity if it meant you would have the smile you had on yours face right now forever as well.
"love your cooking," you said in-between bites, scarfing down your food.
"careful. harry or your mom might hear and cry," she joked before eating her food herself.
you chuckled and placed your utensils down once you finished everything. it surprised ellie a bit, but it made her happy more than anything else. she was just waiting for you to wife her up.
"el," you called, looking down at your lap.
she stopped eating for a while, and took your hand, worried at the sudden change of mood. you seemed anxious, playing with your fingers like that again. ellie ran her thumb over your knuckles, asking, "what's wrong?"
you pursed your lips before shaking your head. "nothing. maybe we can talk about it later."
"sure, let me just finish this quick."
"no, take your time," you insisted, giving her a small smile which tugged at her heartstrings, as cheesy as that sounded. "meet me in my room when you're done, okay? don't rush, and just leave the plates there. i'll clean them up later."
ellie nodded in agreement and watched you go up to the second floor and disappear into your bedroom before going back to eating. it made her anxious too, wondering if harold told you anything about yesterday and asked you to stay away from her. that was why even if you told her not to rush her breakfast, she still did, being unable to take the suspense.
she left the dining room and quickly raced up the stairs, turning to the right at the top to go to your familiar bedroom. she knocked twice then went in, and saw you sitting by your bed and looking out the open window.
ellie's eyebrow's bunched up in worry, taking the seat next to you and holding your hand gently to let you know she was there no matter what. you turned to look at her and sent her a small 'hi.'
"hi, doll, what's wrong?" she asked, cutting to the main point.
you smiled a little. "it's nothing. i've just been deep in thought."
the girl frowned and brought your head onto her shoulder. "it's not nothing if it's making you think that deeply. c'mon, you can tell me. is anything hurting?" she asked, running her fingers through your hair.
"i- i'm scared of asking you," you admitted, looking down to avoid her gaze.
she decided not to force eye contact yet. "about what? i promise i'll respond gently. when have i not been gentle with you, doll?"
thankfully, you were the one to look up at her first, and she gave you a reassuring smile. "c'mon, n/n. it's just me, no need to be scared."
panic settled in once she had seen the tears pooling in your eyes. she asked what was wrong again frantically, bringing your face into the crook of her neck to allow you to cry to her. you let out a few sobs until you started fully crying, and then you managed to calm down. ellie was not good at comforting, so she was kind of relieved you were the type who didn't need many words to feel someone was there trying to make you feel better.
"c'mon, babe, what's wrong?" ellie coaxed, wiping the tears off your face.
"that's what's wrong.." you murmured, looking down.
her mouth hung slightly open, truthfully not understanding what you meant. you sighed and grabbed a pillow, hugging it close to you.
"you call me 'babe' or 'babygirl' and i give stupid romantic meanings to them and i just... what if you'll actually never see me as someone's and your little sister? i'm gonna be stuck with these feelings on my own, and i won't get over you, and i don't even know..." you said quickly, as if this was the only time you had let these thoughts out into the world.
ellie, on the other hand, couldn't be any more overjoyed than she was at the moment, but she had to keep her calm first because you were emotional, and she didn't want to overwhelm you much more than you already were.
instead, she grabbed one of your hands, and her other went to cup your face gently so that you two could look at each other deeply. she let out a little chuckle before speaking, "i have never looked at you as just a little sister. if you just knew how head over heels i was for you the moment harry introduced us," she said with a large grin. "i've got to be insane if i don't see you as a woman i wanna be with."
your lower lips trembled. "really?"
ellie laughed and stood up, gathering you in her hold and spinning you around, garnering laughter from you as well.
"yes, really! you're the only i would ever let in my personal space, clueless girl!"
the girl fell on your bed with you on top of her, and she smiled lovingly up at you, giving you a quick peck on the lips. "i've always wanted to do that."
to her surprise, you brought your lips together, kissing each other to make up for the years that the two of you could only hug and smile at each other. ellie sat up and flipped the two of you so that you would be underneath her, caged in her arms. she let go of your lips and went down to your neck, trailing downwards.
the two of you could feel your breaths become deeper, with your eyes darkening with need.
"you hungry?" you asked with a small voice.
ellie smirked. "famished."
oh well, harry's blessing was mattered less now that you made the first move.

"Mindshadow" review
One of these days, Spock will do the logical thing and get an all-risk insurance for his brain...
Novel from 1986, by J. M. Dillard. Okay, this story is quite messy, as it tries to put together a pastiche of plot threads and themes that may or may not be that cohesive. It borrows heavily from TOS episodes, from The Enterprise Incident to Journey to Babel (even a bit from Wolf in the Fold). There are definitely a few plot holes and some silliness. The espionage/murder plot is sometimes too convoluted to follow. Also, some names look like typos: Transporter technician "Lyle"? (I'm pretty sure that was supposed to be Kyle), the penal colony of "Ebla Two"? (should have been Elba Two), "Chekhov"????... In terms of absurdity, it's similar to that other novel, "Black Fire" (and yes, there's even a pirate Spock in here too). But just as it happened with that book... I actually liked this one as well. It's a glorious mess, alright.
The most serious (and somber) thread is that of Spock receiving brain damage, and his struggles to recover his memories and Vulcan mental disciplines. The abuse he suffers from medical malpractice, his frustration with his impaired learning, his loving (and sometimes painful) relationship with his family, or Uhura's tender attempts to help him through music... Those elements have probably the greatest emotional impact in the novel, and are actually pretty good in themselves. This is also, at core, a "triumvirate" novel, with strong character drama between Kirk, Spock and McCoy, and a focus on their closeness.
On the other hand, there's another, more ridiculous drama: both Kirk and McCoy fall in love with the same Mary Sue, and hilarity tragedy ensues. For his part, Kirk seems pretty callous in his seduction of this woman, as he doesn't even like her all that much; at times, it almost looks as if he just wanted to piss McCoy off (isn't there really ANY other woman available for him!?). While McCoy, who truly loves the Mary Sue, ends up looking incredibly pitiful, desperate and, well, downright pathetic. However, out-of-character as it is, I ended up getting some guilty pleasure from all of it, as in "Let's see Kirk's next shitty move and what happens next..." Anyway, even though the woman likes the two of them, she ends up realizing they're both just too gay for Spock, to the surprise of nobody.
Spoilers under the cut:
The planet Aritani has suffered recent raids from cloaked vessels, so Kirk is negotiating with the natives to offer Federation help against the attacks, despite the natives’ reticence towards technology. They erect a shield around the planet to prevent the fighter ships entering the atmosphere, or trap below it those that may be cloaked right now. Then Spock goes alone to investigate the nearby mountains, since he found valuable minerals that could be the objective of the raiders. However, when Spock is late to report, Kirk goes after him… And finds out he has fallen off a cliff and has gravely injured his head. McCoy’s assessment is that Spock has suffered extensive damage to the left hemisphere, so his logic, language and memory will be impaired, and the doctor has many doubts about his eventual recovery; they’d need a neuropsychologist specialized on Vulcans.
Meanwhile, Kirk authorizes shore leave on the surface of Aritani, as several hours have passed without sighting any fighter (the reasoning being that, by now, they’d have run out of fuel to keep their cloaks up). Well, if you ask me, I don’t think it’s the most appropiate time and place for shore leave; and sure enough, a little while later a group of enemy vessels appears out of nowhere and starts attacking the crew on leave. Kirk and Scott can’t understand how that’s possible, and only see two options: either the fighters have an improved cloaking device that allows them to stay hidden for longer, or they somehow managed to penetrate the shields. Actually, there’s a third option, which they never even consider: they’ve been beaming people down to the planet for shore leave! That means they’ve been lowering the shields ALL THE TIME!! Duh… Kirk is having the worst day of his life, and on top of that, the Aritanians refuse further help from Starfleet, after their failure to protect them. Kirk’s orders, however, are to stay in the vicinity.
In sickbay, Uhura comes to visit an injured friend and starts singing for him. Then, upon hearing the music, Spock finally shows some reaction, and is capable of calling her name and asking for songs, as his right hemisphere (supposedly associated with emotions and art) is intact. During the following days, Spock will make some progress thanks to Uhura’s company. Apart from that, a new neuropsychologist is assigned to the Enterprise to study Spock’s case: Dr. Mary Sue Emma Saenz. Five minutes later, both McCoy and Kirk fall head over heels for her (to the point that McCoy is jealous even when Kirk says “Hello” to her). Emma also shows an unusual physical strength when she beats Kirk in their combat trainings. Nonetheless, it turns out that Emma… is actually Dr. Evil!Mary Sue!! She forces a mind-meld with Spock while alone with him, and extracts some important information about what he saw in Aritani, before erasing his memory of the meld. Her diagnostic is that Spock will probably recover in the areas of language and amnesia. But he has lost the Vulcan mind rules to shield himself away from others’ emotions, which he can now receive telepathically at all times. This could turn him into a violent individual, and Emma suggests restraints and an experimental medication: neodopazine.
In the bridge, Chekov manages to locate a decloaked enemy vessel, and they capture it with a tractor beam along one of the pirates. The raider turns out to be Romulan, but he denies the existence of any special device to penetrate shields, and Scotty doesn’t find anything of the like upon dismantling the fighter. Kirk was about to interrogate the prisoner, when they discover he’s been vaporized. Someone stunned the guard, then removed the brig force field and killed the prisoner, trying to make it look like a suicide. Security doesn’t have a clue about the killer (though the reader certainly can suspect who is it…). If this wasn’t enough, Spock is found in bed with his wrists sliced, as if he had also attempted suicide. Spock denies having done so, and says someone tried to murder him, but he doesn’t remember who. Emma is furious and gaslights Spock, saying he’s imagining murderers to cover up his suicide attempt. McCoy, however, takes Spock’s side and has a violent discussion with Emma, who ends up admitting she just wants to help Spock. Of course, the situation is very romantic, so they kiss. Later that night, Kirk is having trouble to sleep (no wonder) and goes to McCoy’s cabin for some pills (you see, he can’t go to sickbay, no; if he doesn’t sleep, then McCoy can’t either). Then Kirk finds out that McCoy is… sleeping with Emma!! Kirk doesn’t like that.
Since Spock believes his only option of recovering the mind rules is returning to Vulcan, he’s sent there in a shuttle with Scotty and Chapel. The shuttle has been sabotaged, and they crash land on Vulcan, though just with minor injuries. Spock is fine, so he leaves Scotty with Chapel at the hospital, and walks to his home town on foot. During the following weeks, he will stay at his parents’ home, trying to relearn the Vulcan disciplines with a Kolinahr master. His progress is really slow, though, and with mounting frustration, he realizes the neodopazine, far from helping, seems to be deteriorating his mind. Spock also meets T'Pala, a girl who's staying with his parents while she studies to enter the Vulcan Diplomatic Corps. T'Pala has many things in common with Spock: she's also half human, and has difficulty adapting to Vulcan life (even moreso than Spock, since she grew up in Earth). Sarek's disappointment with her is a mirror for Spock's own youth.
In the Enterprise, Scotty is put in the brig as the main suspect for the Romulan's murder (of course, he's later cleared of charges). For his part, Kirk hurts his shoulder while training with Emma. She takes him to her quarters to treat the injury, gives him an analgesic, and then they kiss. McCoy waits for Emma the whole evening, grows increasingly suspicious, and finally sees her leaving Kirk's cabin. After that, he mopes for a couple of days, until Kirk visits him with a bottle of moonshine ("here, I stole your girlfriend, but you can get drunk with this..."). Kirk, however, says he doesn't remember what he did with Emma. And Emma confirms that Kirk just passed out because of the analgesic; she's attracted to Kirk and kissed him, but nothing else happened. McCoy is happy with this (he doesn't ask for much, right?) and suddenly he's like "Hey, you slept with me a couple of times. Where's my wedding ring!? I'm a decent boy!". Emma says she'll leave soon, so no, no wedding...
After this, the Enterprise is tasked with bringing a bunch of ambassadors to Vulcan, to discuss the acceptance of Aritani into the Federation. This part is a bit dull and drags too much, in my opinion. During the journey, more suspicious incidents take place: one ambassador is killed, another is badly hurt, and an explosion leaves the Enterprise without warp drive. It seems someone doesn't want Aritani to join the Federation. Then, Kirk discovers that Emma has been making unauthorized transmissions, but she assures him she's been working for Starfleet Intelligence all this time. An Admiral confirms this point, so Kirk is satisfied.
Back in Vulcan, Spock has stopped taking the neodopazine, and experiments a clear improvement. Finally, he's able to recover the mind rules, and his memories from Aritani return to him in dreams. There was something really important he needed to tell Kirk, and now that the Enterprise is near Vulcan, Spock opens a transmission to the ship. But just before he can say anything, an assassin breaks into his house, injures Sarek, and tries to slice Spock's wrists again. He wants to make it look as Spock murdering Sarek, then killing himself. T'Pala intervenes at the last moment, vaporizing the assassin with a phaser. Then, she confesses that Romulans approached her to leak info about Spock, but she couldn't comply with their murderous plans. Having failed at entering the Diplomatic Corps, T'Pala doesn't have much more to live for, and she kills herself too.
Sarek and Spock recover in a hospital from the attack. And Kirk and McCoy band together against Emma to go visit him. Then Spock tells everything. What he saw at Aritani was some fighter vessels beaming up from below the earth, where the Romulans must have an underground base (that's why the atmospheric shield was useless). Knowing that they'd kill him, Spock decided to escape by jumping from the cliff, where he damaged his head. Much to McCoy's surprise, Spock also shows him a medical article written by Emma, explaining all the damaging effects of neodopazine in Vulcan brains. McCoy confronts Emma about the use of such dangerous drug on Spock, just when she was leaving for her next assignment. But she stuns him (and a bunch of other people) and escapes the ship, confirming their suspicions.
In the last part, the Enterprise returns to Aritani to destroy the Romulan base once and for all. Kirk gets again that surgery to look Romulan (as in The Enterprise Incident) and infiltrates the compound with Spock (who's dressed as a Romulan pirate, while McCoy wants to pierce his ear). However, they're captured by a Romulan officer, that Kirk recognizes as Emma. Her real name is Tanirius, and actually, she wasn't Evil!Mary Sue at all. She just carried out the Praetor's orders as a cover-up, all the while working for Starfleet and a group of Romulan rebels, to destroy the underground base. She gave Spock the neodopazine to avoid killing him, once she understood how important he was for McCoy and Kirk. This plot twist really took me by surprise, but that's in part because... well, it doesn't make much sense. You know, despite the novel trying to present Emma as eventually good, she's just not! Not only did she try to kill Spock SEVERAL times, but she was far more efficient at carrying out the Romulans' plans than what was strictly necessary!! (whatever, maybe she was just jealous of Spock). Emma helps them to deactivate the cloaking device of the base, and then stays behind to destroy it whole. Kirk and Spock beam up to the Enterprise in time, while an underground explosion shakes the planet. In the aftermath, Aritani accepts the Federation's help, now that they're free of Romulans. And Spock tries to console McCoy saying that some vessels fled the base in time, and Emma could be among the survivors. Kirk sees through his bullshit, though, and wonders if Spock is just lying because he also has affection for McCoy, much to Spock's indignation.
McSpirk Meter: 9/10*. The Kirk/Spock angle is more evident. When Spock is injured, Kirk just can't think about anything else. He goes constantly to sickbay to check his state, argues with McCoy, is irritable with everyone and everything... Kirk even tries to reach the catatonic Spock through a mind link, to no avail. And once he gets a replacement First Officer, Kirk is unreasonably hostile to him, just because he's not Spock. It's also said several times that Kirk is the person that knows Spock better in the entire world. Another remarkable scene happens when Spock is leaving for Vulcan. Spock can feel Jim's emotions and pain at his departure, and his repressed impulse to touch him, so Spock relents and takes his hand. As for McCoy, his care for Spock comes rather as medical concern, but Emma sees through him quite early. She says he's too emotionally involved with the patient to be of any help. And despite the fact they're in a relationship, it seems that all of McCoy and Emma's conversations revolve around Spock, which causes continous tensions between them. At one point, she states the facts clearly: "I have risked myself for your friend because you loved him". Effectively, the reason she gives for not killing Spock outright, is that McCoy and Kirk cared about him too much. The ending lines have Kirk reminding Spock of this fact, and wondering if Spock also returns McCoy's affections.
Apart from this, there's a certain tension between Kirk and McCoy. Before the whole problem with Emma begins, they're reminiscing their shore-leaves together, and McCoy is said to grin lasciviously at Jim. Also, when Emma tells Kirk that she and McCoy are having dinner together, McCoy starts blushing, and doesn't understand why such a simple statement embarrasses him so much. Later, Kirk comes to McCoy's cabin in the middle of the night, and finds him basically naked (wearing just a short tunic), which almost prompts a sarcastic whistle from him. He attempts to enter the cabin (you know, with naked Bones in there and all) and feels offended when the doctor doesn't let him come inside. At last, after they reconcile, McCoy comments that Kirk looks dashing in his Romulan pirate uniform. There's also something in Kirk's behavior about Emma, that almost seems like a disgruntled ex trying to ruin the doctor's new relationship. After all, Kirk doesn't even find Emma all that attractive at first.

These are the two and only digital artworks I have for my Legacy of Kain OC, Alycian. Though I might make more art of her in the future, we'll have to see how I might go.
To those in the Legacy of Kain fandom and in general, I'm sure I mentioned her to someone when "The Dead Shall Rise" was revealed, but basically, let me just dump her lore real quick.
ALYCIAN'S LORE:
Daughter of the vampire lord, Kain, and a human woman named Elizan, Alycian is a young wanderer of the now barren Nosgoth, she carries many secrets on her shoulders like how she carries many things on her back.
How she came to be is something saved for some other time, but to put it in a nutshell:
"Elizan unknowingly enters the palace, where Kain is, in hopes of shelter, while warming her hands by a fireplace (strange, I know, but it's for the aesthetics), she encounters Kain, who initially hostile at her, drawing his blade at her. Elizan begged Kain for her to stay, stating that all she just wanted was a place to live after wandering for so long. Kain, taking slight pity for the woman, lets her live and lets her stay at the palace, living together but not having any attraction yet. Then, the two became close, before falling in love (well, if we were to put it that way), and soon had Alycian! Kain's first daughter and blood-related child!"
Her relationships with other characters, overall, are either her having a relatively healthy relationship, or someone just having a one-sided beef with her, either because of her connection with Kain, or because. Such as her relationships with her relatives; her relationship with Kain is like any other father-daughter relationship, a daughter who thrives in knowledge and adventure, and her proud father.
In her relationship with Raziel, at the start, Raziel just finds her annoying, with her following him around Nosgoth and telling him things he already knows about, but didn't bother doing anything as there's no other way to get rid of her, at least, anything that doesn't involve killing or eating her soul.
But as time goes on, the two would sympathize with each other, about how Nosgoth wasn't as great as it was before, or how it was never great in the first place, which evolved from Raziel thinking Alycian as an annoyance to being like a protective brother to her. Funnily enough, when it's revealed that she and Kain are related, not only does it shock Raziel that he was friends with Kain's daughter for all this time, but also shocked that she is, technically, his sister, the only sister he could've had.
= = = =
At first glance, she seems like an ordinary human girl, a simple, thin, boring human girl, and might also be considered annoying to some, especially when she talks to someone about a fairytale or about Nosgoth's secrets, but deep down, she's a sweet girl who wants to learn and connect with other people. She's not as bloodthirsty as her father (she doesn't even drink blood due to her human DNA, evident when she tried drinking a goblet of blood, only to spit it out after the attempt because of how bad the taste of blood is), nor as "justice-driven" (or so to say) as Raziel, she's herself, half-human half-vampire, yes, but still herself.
And, spoilers, she sacrificed herself not only for Nosgoth's sake but also for her family's sake, to protect her father, Kain, and her adopted brother, Raziel. (She isn't as selfish as her father, she's selfless.) But she did come back to play a big role in my Tomb Raider x Legacy of Kain crossover, but that's a whole other can of worms.
Anyways! I hope you like her! She might be Mary Sue-ish to some, but unlike most Mary Sues, she has flaws, such as being annoying without intending to, not having any battle prowess in a world that is "Fight or Be Forgotten", etc.
But that's on me, this is purely self-indulgent, so yeah.

The Affairs Of The Other World Depend On The Corporate Slave / Isekai No Sata Wa Shachiku Shidai
I finally give this manga a go and holy shit, it's amazing. I feel bad that I kept avoifing it for so long! Glasses-kun is Seiichiro, a 30yo corporate slave guy, who was summoned by accident together with the Saintess.
He is your typical workaholic Japanese man. (Japanese work culture is seriously something else. If you can die from overwork it's BAD).
This guy is such a workaholic that everybody is horrified.
Anyway, the entire manga is hilarious, but is also a great commentary on the toxic work culture in Japan and how harmful it can be to you.
(A BUTT GUARDIAN). [I work office job too, those are NEEDED!]
However, I dunno if his butt hurts from emergency sex he got from a handsome man, or from sitting to much at his palace / office job.
Yes, you heard that right, emergency sex treatment.
Because if you never had magic used on you and you are from our world you can develop magic sickness. (That is also a very excellent idea, that is basically NEVER touched upon in isekai stories - i.e. how the bodies of people from non-magical world would react to magic).
And because you are not a little baby infant that can be accustomed to magic by their mom's cuddling you need more hands on approach.
But no worries, the guy who treated him asked for consent first!
It's actually hella hilarious how unphased Seiichiro is that he had sex with a young man in order to survive. I mean he wasn't conscious for most of it, even though he gave consent, but you know. That guys is literally so focused on work that he didn't even have a typical scene of "what have I done". Like seriously. None. He just slept with an ikemen to get better and went to work just like that. Just average tuesday lol.
The entire manga also skipped the whole "I'm too dense to notice his feelings". So Seiichiro (an older and possibly more experienced man) is WELL aware that the man who saved him with sex had fallen for him.
HE IS JUST SO FOCUSED ON WORK HE HAS NO TIME TO THINK ABOUT WHAT HE FEELS FOR HIM! SO HE KEEPS PUTTING IT OFF! AND JUST TAKES ALL THE KISSES AND TOUCHING AND SHIT. KNOWING VERY WELL THAT YOUNG MAN IS IN LOVE WITH HIM, AND THAT YOUNG MAN EVEN CONFESSING IT TO HIM.
Seiichiro, that man is a fucking catch, you better think about your feelings for him quickly and tell him you like him too, idiot!
Also Seiichiro is such a damsel in distress. Thanks to lack of magicule resistance he can collapse at moments notice. Which creates all the drama situations in regard to his health, because he just CAN'T TAKE CARE OF HIMSELF. That young man has to literally micromanage his life to keep Seiichiro HEALTHY. Anyway, I love when male character can just faint at moments notice and his boyfriend gets all worried. Sue me. I like it when a man is a damsel and his boy comes running.
And the most hilarious thing is that the entire setting is the exact same as The Saint's Power is Omnipotent, that is a heterosexual isekai romance fantasy story. This is exactly the same premise, but Seiichiro is not a Saint. But it's GAY. Like seriously I'm not kidding you all!
Those two could literally coexist in the same universe.
Protagonist that was tag-along extra: check
Heroine that is the Saintess: check
Protagonist is named Sei: check
Protagonist immediately goes to find a job: check
Captain of 3rd Order of Knights has a crush on protag: check
3rd Order of Knights is tasked with battling miasma: check
Protagonist has a funny sidekick at their job office: check
Protagonist is constantly in danger: check
Protagonist saves the day with their amazing talents: check
The only differences are that Seiichiro is not the Saint, and even tho Sei (woman) was also a corporate slave, she very quickly has shaken off the corporate japanese culture of work and did what she wanted (ah, I feel you Sei, I also would just be happy I'm off). She still works her butt of on those potions but she is not overworking herself.
And also Seiichiro is far more mouthy than Sei, and he is not afraid to "rock the boat" so to speak, because he only cares about good results. He just refuses to be polite to people who obstruct his work. I love it.

May I make a continuation to this?
There's only 2 ways the remake could go:
It's a complete success. The actors are very good and it truly feels like they're watching the same old great characters but with deeper and more developed personalities. They decide to expand the lore and the plot in general seems more coherent too. Also, the animation and action scenes look epic because the effects are better than when it was first released. And if a random nobody in the street makes fun of them for watching a "kids show" they will have a nice chat with them.
Or.
They hate it. They ruined everything they loved about the show in the first place, no matter how cool it looks now. The actors just don't get the feeling across and they can't almost recognize their fav characters anymore. Genos is determined to sue the company who made this monstruity and Saitama is like "Dude, you can't go on a rampage to their studios...without me".
(The creators have to endure the heroes' speech about how they ruined their childhoods)
This has become another crack fick lol XD
BAKDJAKXBSKSMXN OKAY BUT YES.
If the remake is good, those two would praise that shit to the moon and back. They'd go to anime conventions together, they'd go to panels and signings. It'd even get to the point where they gift each other things centered around the franchise, and both of them would obsess over the gifts in their own ways. Genos would always carry it with him (if he can do so) and Saitama will either always have it on him too or he'll install a shelf just so he can put it on display 24/7. They'll wait until they're both home to watch the newer episodes together and have lengthy discussions about the latest episodes. They'd be so elated about it, the show becoming one of the largest interests that they have in common. Hell, it'll even be the catalyst for them opening up about their other interests.
If the remake is ass, Genos would be furious while Saitama would just be loudly but non-verbally disappointed. One of his few gifts, fixations that he had as a kid was ruined by corporations once again, cuz they thought they could capitalize off of a large name. He would just go silent and never spare a glance at the newest episodes when it comes on. And Genos– jfc Genos would hop on every social media platform to publicly rant so fast. He'd open up Twitter or some shit to make a thread ranting about its fuck-ups, or post Twitlonger. He'll provide a wholeass essay on tumblr, detailing everything wrong about every single aspect of the show. This franchise was one of few things he could look back on from his childhood happily without thinking about all of the things he misses. Look back on the memories he used to have of it without getting upset that he'll never get to experience/see it again. And they fucking butchered it for money.
He'd fuck that Animation Studio so fast and hard, Saitama would wish he was the studio. Genos would be going on a wholeass tirade. And while Saitama won't hop on Reddit and bitch about how shitty the remake was, he's definitely not gonna try and stop Genos from suing.
#This was actually so fucking funny and amazing to think about lmfao#one punch man#opm#saitama#genos#saigenos#genosai

Alternative, Season 2 Episode 11: "Not looking back"
Pleasantview, Goth Family Mansion
A small gathering was taking place between the Goth and Pleasant families; On the one hand Mortimer, Bella, Mary Sue and Cassandra were talking about the possible future Divorce between Don and Cassandra, since Cassandra had begun to take an interest in a certain Timothy Riley, while Don, Daniel and the children were talking outside the Mansion
Bella: Cassandra, don't you think this is a little unfair to the children?
Cassandra: I don't think so besides, Timothy is a single dad, he has a little five year old girl! Ella and Adam would love to meet Timothy!
Mortimer: :Cassandra is Right, my dear! Don has done nothing but bring us misery and sadness.
Mary Sue (a bit uncomfortable): Well Cassie, I would recommend that you try to talk to both Don and the Children... Ellie is obviously too attached to Don
Outside the Mansion, Daniel and Don were talking as they watched Angela, Lilith, Ella and Adam play.
Don: Dan, I swear I've seen Cassandra acting so weird lately, she's usually late from work and doesn't even speak to me or there are days when she totally ignores me...
Daniel: I think maybe she's mad at you... Or possibly, she's... cheating on you
Those words resonated quite a bit in Don's head.
Don: How could that be possible!? I've totally changed because of her!! I don't even go out with my colleagues at work anymore, I haven't been unfaithful!
Daniel (Calming down his friend): Don, whatever is going on, please stay calm... Hey, and that guy with that girl, who are they?
In the distance came no one else and no one less than Timothy Riley and his daughter Sally Riley, who looked friendly at Don and Daniel, who looked at him in confusion.
Timothy: Hello Gentlemen! My name is Timothy Riley and this is my lovely daughter Sally, do you know where Cassandra is?
Daniel: Nice to meet you Timothy, Cassandra is in the mansion...
The brown haired man kept walking, intriguing Daniel and Don. Upon entering the Mansion, Timothy was greeted by a kiss from Cassandra.
Cassandra: Hi Tim! I'm glad you came love!
Timothy (Stroking Cassandra): I can't wait for us to live together. Are you going to get rid of that Don today?
Cassandra: Yes Honey, I really can't believe I've lasted 13 years with him!
The two were kissing without caring that there was someone else watching them, those people were Ella and Angela
Ella: Mommy, Angela and I are... Mommy!?
The little girl looked surprised at the scene and began to cry, drawing the attention of the others, who went to see the scene.
Don: Honey, what happened to Ellie?
Ella (crying): I saw mom kissing with that man!
This surprised Don, who started arguing with Cassandra
Don: How dare you do this Cassandra!? 13 years of marriage and this is how you fool us all!?
Cassandra: Look who's talking, the Casanova from Pleasantview, Don Lothario! Who had the nerve to cheat on me with a maid on our honeymoon! I'm sick of all the shit you put me through Lothario! That's why I will divorce you!
Timothy: Could you guys calm down and sit down for a moment, please?
Daniel and Mary Sue: You stay out of this business!
Angela: Mom, Dad! Please don't fight!
The adults were fighting over all the fuss Cassandra and Timothy made, in the end, Don and Cassandra agreed to get a divorce as soon as possible.

I'm feeling sentimental so I am going to talk about them. For those of you who have followed me for years you know who these two are. If you are newer to following me meet Blaine(left) and Cotton(right) they were my babies and my world.
I wanted a Siberian Husky ever since I was super young. I never thought I'd have one let alone two. 2008 I was watching a dog show during summer vacation(I've watched dog shows since I was like six). And I saw the AKC advertise they had a website during it. I was bored and decided to go check it out. I learned you could look up breeders of puppies in your area so I decided to do so.
I knew I wouldn't be allowed to get one. I talked to Blaine's(he was named Socks back then) breeder anyway for a week getting to learn about him. He was the last puppy left of a litter of six, and he honestly sounded like my dream. After a week of this I realized I was getting attached to this puppy with no way I'd be able to get him. So I told the breeder my senior year of high school was coming up and we couldn't swing the puppy price after all(I was a teenager and lonely sue me). Turns out his breeder was my age and going into his senior year too. He talked to his mom and they agreed after getting to know me like he had they felt I would give him a good home and that is all they wanted and I could have him for free.
I still was expecting my mom to say no. See my mom has always been a we are a small dog family and a Siberian Husky is not that. However something told me to talk to her anyway about it. I did and to my surprise she said yes(so did my abusive pos stepdad, but his opinion was irrelevant anyway). This all happened on a Saturday I still remember the day well. We drove the one hour and forty five minutes to get Blaine the same day.
He immediately became my best friend and my everything. This all happened in August. Flash forward to December 1st. I am researching Siberian Husky sites( I research things when I am bored) and I found a breeder with a litter of puppies. I was not planning on getting a second puppy and I was for sure it would snow in hell before my mom ever said yes to me getting not only a second puppy, but another husky. Something about the puppy named girl 1 drew me in though and I couldn't stop thinking about her. I decided to show my mom and ask anyway. I figured the worse she could say is no. To my amazement she said yes(so did abusive pos stepdad, but again he was irrelevant). Cotton was to be my combination Birthday, Christmas and Graduation present. She remains the best Christmas present I ever got.
These two dogs were my everything. I've never been good with people and being honest people scare me. I've always been better with animals especially dogs. I told them both everything and things I've never told anyway else. I talked to them about hating myself for my sexuality, I cried into their fur when I was sad. They were my rocks, my comfort, my best friends. With them I never felt like I had to be anything other than myself and that I was good enough just the way I am. They were my reason to live and kept me alive. I knew I had to be around to care for them and love them.
Blaine died first. He was fine one day and then the next he wasn't. He died on my bedroom floor as we were getting ready to rush him to the vet. He was four years old. Losing him broke me. I was super depressed and miserable. I don't think I would have made it if I didn't have Cotton. The two of us pulled through together and she continued to be my comfort, my world and my baby. I didn't know at the time I'd only have her a few more years.
Shortly after she turned four Cotton started having seizures. She was put on medication for it and did great the first two years. However a month after her 6th birthday she had over 60 seizures in a 24 hour time span. My mom called our vet early in the morning and he said the best thing for her would be to put her to sleep that each one posed a risk to her. I was in my sister's room which was near my mom's when I heard that I started bawling. My sister has never liked hugs or touching. But when I broke down she hugged me and comforted me. I heard my stepdad say I told him so(when Cotton was first diagnosed he wanted me to put her down. I refused because the vet said with meds she could live a full normal life). To this day I hate hearing I told you so. It takes me back to that day.
Another piece of me shattered losing her. I was alone again. I had lost my best friends in the entire world, my support, my comfort and my babies. I was in a very dark place. I didn't want to leave my room, I didn't want to eat and I would just lay in the dark and sob. Eventually I thought Blaine and Cotton wouldn't want this for me. They would want me to be ok. So I tried for them. Their water bowl(the one I bought from Walmart on the day we Picked up Blaine) is now Kricket's water bowl(yes it is that old and I still have it)
I think about them both often.

Babble: Track 16
I believe the world is burning to the ground
Oh well, I guess, we're gonna find out
Let's see how far we've come!
I believe the world is coming to an end
Oh well, I guess, we're gonna pretend
Let's see us far we've come!
@@@@
Rest assured, there’s a perfectly reasonable explanation.
You just don’t know the lengths us we old timers go through for a little quality time with our family.
You two are like the mystery twins.
I don’t know how a lemon so sour can be related to a peach so sweet.
The future is in the past. Onward Aoshima!
I like these guys.
I guess we’re both freaks.
Man, revenge is underrated that felt awesome.
Everything is different now.
Why is it that whenever you’re around there’s always ghosts and monsters or whatever?
I dare say you would’ve defeated me, if it wasn’t for your sibling bickering.
I ate a man alive tonight.
We put the "fun" in "No Refunds".
My voice may not be perfect, but it’s mine and I wouldn’t change it for anything.
Don’t you know what it’s like to fall for someone, even though you know in your heart that it’ll probably never work out, but you’d do anything for that person?
@You had me at shut up old man.
Why don’t you just leave me alone?!
BROS BEFORE DINOS!
You leave our uncle’s brain alone you isosceles monster!
Every victory you had was because of this book.
Without it I can’t help you or Stan, or anyone.
Kids listen: This town is crazy, so you need to be careful. I don’t know what I would do with myself if you got hurt on my watch.
I have more fun with you than like practically anyone else. And if you ever stopped being my friend, I would like throw myself into the bottomless pit.
What did you say you little trolls? I will sue you! I will sue you and I will own you!
Who would sacrifice everything they worked for just for their dumb sibling?
... Dipper would.
Please let my friends go! I’ll do anything you want I promise!
Welp, I learned nothing from all this.
Have you met my family!?
Maybe I messed up in the past, but that I’ve seen what happened I can begin to put myself together again.
I’ve been being ridiculous this whole time. Whoever my dad was, he can take a hike. I know who my family is now. And it’s you dudes.
I just needed to move on… I’m happy? Weird right?
Our family name is broken! And I’m going to fix it!
Do you really think I’m a bad guy?
You give me my house back, you give me my name back…
As far as I’m concerned, they’re the only family I have left.
In my time I’ve made many powerful enemies. But I trust you with this secret.
Do I really want “Cooked Grifter” written on my tombstone?
It’s time we stopped trying to be so “perfect” and be who we really are.
Confidence can buy you a lot. But at the end of the day, pickup artists tend to get our heads bitten off.
Can you honestly tell me you never felt like you were meant for something more?
You’ll still have your brother with you through thick and thin. Not everyone can say that you know?
Being a hero means… This summer, I’ve seen some amazing things… you need to make up and team up… So close… The best you can do is strive to be someone worthy of loving. Will you tell her what I did?
Let my body be… When you told me… I don’t know what’s… Time to pop your…
Wait… I’ve been… Even in… So, I was… Serves that… Don’t you see… If we band together… Holy… Quit the… You’re… I’ve made some… You’re looking at… Thanks for these… Fine I’ll… After all I’ve… If you didn’t… Well maybe… Those weird… I won’t… This was... I just want… Oh no you… What are you… Now’s our… Just so we’re… It looks even… I’m so… I think I’m… No more… I knew I... You must… I’ve tried… Yes yes… Wow… Don’t turn this… Shut up… This is… The rest of… Dang it... Come on… I’ve… I’ll…
@@@@
The last thing they all individually remembered was four big vines coming out of Bill's symbol, briefly making a big green X before branching out and grabbing them and pulling them to the center.
Next thing they knew, they were waking up in a big crater, all fused together, with that wheel branded on their chest. The town was mostly restored to normal. The people... not so much.
"Who are you?"
"I'm... Dipper Pines. No I'm not I'm Mabel Pines. No I'm not I'm Wendy Corderoy. No I'm not, I'm Gideon Gleeful. No I'm not that either, I'm... I'm... I'm going to be sick."
@@@@
One step made an earthquake. One touch mutated their pets.
On August 31, they walked into the woods and kept walking.
"Are you okay?"
they didn't look up.
"Does it matter?"
Something tapped their head. They finally looked up and there, standing on a rock, was an eight-inch pink woman with platinum blond hair and a tail. "Do you mind if I sit here?" she asked.
“What are you?”
“I’m tired is what I am. But the word you’re looking for is Troll.”
“Troll? Like live under a bridge, asks people riddles, turns to stone in the sunlight troll?”
“That’s not how it actually works, but yeah.”
They laughed at the randomness of it all. “Of course! Why not? Gnomes are perverts, unicorns are frauds, angels are hipsters, it totally tracks that troll would be… like you."
"What's wrong with me?" the woman asked offended.
… “Now that I think about it, nothing we guess.” They took a closer look at her. She had full glossy lips, smokey eyes, and wore a two-piece lilac-colored jumpsuit that showed off her midriff. A heart-shaped stone shone in her navel, and her tufted tail had a tambourine hung on it like jewelry.
"We guess, I guess, I... You probably want a different place to relax." They said, still unsure of how to present to others.
The pink troll woman squinted at them, asking "Seriously, are you okay? I haven't met many humans yet, but you seem a bit... off."
"It's... a long story." They admitted.
"Well, luck you. I love long stories." She sat cross-lgged on the rock and stuck her tiny doll hand out. "I'm Rose."
They smiled. "I don't really know who I am anymore but," they shook her hand with their extra finger. "call me Zodiac."

I've realized that it's kinda hard to write in a setting of a fictional world when you know nothing about said world so here's some haphazardly put together notes at 4 am about some fucken magic fantasy world that's like a second version of earth
[Insert World Name]
Around 400 years ago (or more, can't decide) some odd supernatural force nearly ended the world by stopping its rotation as a means of preventing three of the strongest, and maybe the first, witches from ever being able to work together at their full power. They were the star witch, moon witch, and sun witch.
Due to the stopped rotation, it meant a full day was 365 days long. Winter was entirely in the dark, where the stars were bright and the moon was almost always visible, and the summer was entirely in the sun, with the stars and moon invisible. During the spring, it was sunrise, and the moon was visible with the sun, and during autumn was sunset, with the stars and sun visible, but all 3 were never visible at the same time.
That's most of the dramatically vague history stuff out of the way.
There are clocks EVERYWHERE. Usually at least two; one is a yearly clock to keep track of seasons and another is similar to a 24 hour clock
The 24 hour clock isn't for work days and stuff!!! It's just a convenience thing, since everyone has a totally different sleep schedule due to the lack of regular days and nights. This makes the world seem a lot less dense in public because like half the population in a small area is asleep at any given time. Imagine a busy city in our world but at night it's pretty much totally empty, then imagine half of the population during the day was only busy as night, which made existing in public a lot less crowded
Over centuries, pretty much every plant has now adapted to be bioluminescent during the winter, which makes autumn through winter the Prettiest time of the year (
There is a massive body of freshwater that completely freezes over during the winter. I can't decide if a huge festival takes place on the ice for months or if it's more of a giant merchant trading hub that moves in during winter, but either way it becomes a sort of temporary city that gets a new name and layout every winter. Throughout winter it gets developed every single "day" until what would on earth be the winter solstice, which would be a period of time where development stops and its a time of relaxation before the rest of the winter is spent slowly taking everything down. Since it thaws in the middle and goes outwards, those who get there first also leave first, and those who get there last leave last, so it's not like you have to hurry up and set up your stalls and stuff as soon as possible.
There is a big region that is covered by a perpetual storm that almost completely blocks out the sun. As a result, it is icy all year round, and it's just generally a bad time to be there at any point. Plants can't survive there, and a personal light doesn't break through the storm, so during the winter, it's completely dark, but during the summer, what small amount of sunlight reaches the ice melts it just slightly on the surface, making the entire landscape much more slippery and full of sharp points.
Magic that can create portals is not common, but it's also not exceedingly rare. This world's version of Uber is basically paying a graduated witch to let you use their portals.
There is a sort of hub area that graduated witches can access to apply to have their physical symbol added, which basically gives them free access to the hub whenever they want. Since most witches' symbols are plants, it resembles a large, VERY neatly organized underground greenhouse. Ok yes I took aesthetic inspiration from the ministry of magics use as a sort of teleportation hub, sue me, I'm struggling and it's already almost 5 am now
During the apocalypse (as in the giant FightTM that it resulted from) it was speculated that a hole was formed that goes down into the underworld. Of course, no one has actually found it, but the very few people who have somehow found themselves in the underworld and managed to come back out described there being a dark lake, the ripples in the water illuminated only by a crater in the ceiling letting light reflect off the water like moonlight
Earth and the other world share an underworld. It's a whole Thing, they all exist like. In the same space but through some fourth or fifth dimensional bullshit don't interact directly with one another
Despite magic not being used by a majority of the population, it is still highly respected and is an integral aspect to how the world stays Not Dead. However, with it having an unfathomable amount of potential, i wouldn't say it's "heavily regulated" because with magic being an incredibly creative procedure it makes it sound dystopian, but I will say it is almost required to go to school for it. As a result, the school the story mainly takes place in is basically the capital of the world, which means all the teachers and especially the principal have MASSIVE amounts of power and respect. It's also the only school for magic (it's a big school and a small world ok).
While the principal has the most political and social power, the teachers easily overpower them because they actually use their magic on the job. The principal, on the other hand, typically is more or less exhausted of their power because they use it entirely to help students get to the school via portals, including ones that cross dimensions into earth.
Necromancy and astrology are seen as the same type of magic; they're both considered a kind of "necromancy" in that they poke into worlds inhabited by souls without bodies, where there's the underworld of post-life and what they call the over-overworld (the sky/stars) of pre-life. Both of these practices are used as means of insight, divination, healing, and communication
Everyone is born with a symbol tied to their soul. When someone dies, their soul takes time to disconnect from the symbol. Even after a soul departs from the current plane and forcefully enters the underworld, a symbol takes much longer to be reconnected to another soul. Because of this, there are several superstitions and legends about what are referred to as vampires; those who have stolen a symbol from one's soul, typically depicted as stealing a symbol after someone has already died as if stealing it from the next soul it is to be transferred to. Despite real definitive proof as to whether vampires exist in this aspect, a few people have been ostracized from society for being accused of vampirism.
While the average person may enter the underworld in as little as a few days to a week, their symbol may take a month to be reborn. people who use magic frequently but in relatively simple ways (typically professional reasons), may continue existing as a spirit on the material plane for a month or two, while the symbol takes a decade to reappear. VERY successful witches who are incredibly in tune with their symbol and intuit new ways to use magic on the fly tend to remain spirits for 3 or 4 years, with their symbols taking upwards of 150 years to reincarnate, on top of having a very long lifespan of up to 300-500 years (((This is part of the reason why a sun, star, and moon witch have not been alive together in 400 years. When one or two are alive at the same time, the other is dead, and the symbol has yet to reincarnate)))

Biden
It's politically motivated
Trump
And no it's not Trump we're all going after you but it's the excuse and it's cover I'm going to use it and we're going to get people to go ahead with it they're going to make sure that it's done you find a little teeny boppers too and we're getting rid of them. We don't care if you fight each other but it makes it easier to pick you off and tons you right now are pulling you out of Charlotte county and tons of you I'm going to make sure you don't get up
Mac
I'm putting orders out there to go after the trumps and trumpsters and they're very solid and it's very good reasons why he held on to her before in different formats he wants her for real and he's got a ton of stuff that he's planning to try and we need to go after him now we're going to have a meeting right now about it
Thor Freya
It all needs to be taken seriously it has to do with a hardware and he wants to hold kidnapped prisoners to grab things and psychologically thinks that's how it worked to get all the companies that he lost in like one month but that's what he thinks and that's what he's acting on

The Adoption
______________________________________________________________
This short story was written after watching many, many episodes of "The Twilight Zone". Fun fact: some of the characters are named after people from my church.
Date Written: May 11, 2017
______________________________________________________________
“Come on, John! If we’re late, they might not approve us for the adoption!”
“I’m sure a few minutes won’t make too much of a difference.”
“Melanie told me they’re very strict about who they let adopt.”
“Well, they have to be, dear. It’s much safer, that way. Imagine what would happen if, say, a murder was allowed to adopt.”
“And I don’t want them to think anything bad of us, so we can’t be late.”
“Alright, alright!” He said, throwing up his hands “I’m coming! I guess the leaky sink will have to wait.”
“Yes, it will.” She said, crossing her arms. He chuckled slightly as he used the rag on the counter next to him to wipe any gunk off his hands.
“You do think they’ll approve us, don’t you?” She asked, brushing some loose hair behind her ear.
“Of course, Anne.” He said lightly, putting his tools in the box next to the rag “Even if we’re a few minutes late.”
“Melanie said they check your finances.” She continued “What if they say we don’t make enough?”
“Anne, I’ve been researching this for a while, now. I’m sure they’ll say we’re okay to adopt. Possibly even two.”
“Two? Oh, that’d be wonderful!” He chuckled again as he closed the toolbox.
“I know, dear. Now, let’s go see what we can do about bringing some new members into the family.” They walked together from the kitchen to the front door, where John grabbed a set of keys off the wall.
“How far did you say it was?” Anne asked.
“Just a few minutes up the road.” John replied as they stepped out of the little house “You know where the old school used to be?”
“Yes, that’s right.” He locked the door behind them, gave the knob a turn to be sure, then they walked to the car.
“John?”
“Mm?” He opened the door for her.
“Do you really think we could adopt two?” She asked as she stepped into the car.
“Yes, I think so.” She smiled and he closed the door before walking to the other side. He took his own seat, closing the door tightly after him.
“John?”
“Yes, dear?” He started the engine.
“The last time we were there...”
“Yes?” He looked out the back window as he pulled out of the driveway.
“Well, there were those two. Frank and Sue. Miller, I think was their last name.”
“Yes, I remember. Sue was the younger, right?” He put the car in drive and started down the street.
“Right. Remember how we enjoyed them so much? And they said they enjoyed us, too?”
“Of course.”
“They also said they would prefer not to be separated.” He glanced at her.
“Yes, I remember. I also feel like there’s a point to all this.”
“John, since you think we can get two, what about them? Most people don’t adopt two, John, especially not at the same time. What if they get separated from each other? Remember how they were so nice?”
“I remember.”
“I think it would be lovely to have them in the house. What do you think, John?”
“I agree with you, Anne. However, you know we have to get approved, first.”
“You said we would get approved.”
“I’m fairly certain we will, but you have to be open to the possibility that we won’t. For all we know, Frank and Sue might have changed their minds about how much they like us.”
“Do you think they will?”
“I don’t know.” He said with a sigh “They didn’t seem fickle, but we might have misjudged them.”
“Oh,” She put her face in her hands.
“No need to get upset.” He said, nudging her with his elbow “It’s a possibility, not certainty. A small possibility. I know it would be very disappointing, but I want you to know and be prepared for the worst. At the same time, though, be ready for the best.” She looked up at him and he gave her a comforting smile. She smiled back weakly.
“It’s going to be fine.” He said gently.
~*~
“Fine, just fine.” The director mumbled as he looked over some paperwork. Anne and John sat in front of the desk, hands clasped together, in his office, waiting for the final verdict. They had answered all sorts of questions all afternoon about everything under the sun, but mostly about John’s job. They had gotten to see Frank and Sue again, too. The Millers seemed very happy to see them, much to Anne and John’s delight.
“Fine, just fine.” The director said again. He turned to a new page and glanced up at the anxious couple.
“Married for... going on five years now, correct?” He asked, eye looking over a pair of spectacles.
“Yes, sir.” John answered firmly.
“It’s a bit sooner than usual, for a married couple, that is. We normally don’t get married couples until they’ve been together for 10 or more years.”
“It’s just... we’ve never had any of our own, Mr. Lewis.” Anne piped up, turning the directors attention towards her “And we’ve been wanting some desperately for years, now.”
“I understand, Mrs. Henderson. I am sorry for you, but I must ask these sorts of questions to all who would like to make an adoption.”
“Yes, of course.”
“Now, you’ve requested to take both the Millers.” Mr. Lewis continued, looking back down at his papers “Surely, I don’t need to mention it will be no easy feat bringing two new family members under your care, especially with no prior experience.” “We understand.” John said easily. Mr. Lewis glanced up at him again.
“The adjustment of the newness might be difficult, at first. Both for you and the Millers.”
“We’re willing to work through any difficulties.” Mr. Lewis raised and eyebrow, but just looked down at his papers again.
“As your finances seem to be just fine, I have no reason to keep the adoption from going forward.” Anne gasped in delight and John gave her hand a little squeeze “Just a few more orders of business to take care of, then you may take them home.”
“Today?” Anne asked excitedly.
“Yes, today. Your home inspection went over very well.”
“Told you.” John whispered to Anne, nudging her with his elbow. She rolled her eyes, but couldn’t help smiling, even as Mr. Lewis flipped to a new piece of paper.
“Now, as the Millers will be going under the care of the Hendersons, do you wish to have their name changed to match?”
“No, I believe they wanted to keep thier own last name.” John answered.
“Then, they are to remain Frank and Sue Miller?”
“Yes.”
“Very well. I will have someone drop by within the first month on an undisclosed date to be certain everything will be going well.”
“Of course.”
“The Millers have very few belongings and it seems to me all the paperwork is in order. Sign here at the bottom of the page while I go tell them to pack up. If any questions arise, don’t hesitate to give me a call.” He left the room as soon as John picked up the pen.
“John, I can’t believe it!” Anne breathed as he was scribbling his signature on the page “Frank and Sue as our very own!”
“Only if you remember to sign.” He teased, waving the pen in the air.
“I can’t believe it.” She said as she placed her name beneath his.
“Like a dream come true.” John replied, letting his own smile shine through.
“We are really very lucky.” Anne said, setting the pen down when she was done “I can’t believe someone would give such sweet things as Frank and Sue up for adoption.”
“They might not have been given up, Anne. Their families might have died.”
“I don’t know if that would be worse or not.” She sighed softly as she sat “Do you remember when your parents died, John?”
“Yes,” He replied, sitting next to her “but you know that.”
“I do. I just can’t help but think how lucky we are. Getting to have parents, again. Getting to take care of them, like they took care of their kids.”
“It’s like getting another chance.” John said wistfully, looking at a separate corner in the room “Since we couldn’t do the same for our own.”
“John, what do you think it would be like if they did the same thing for kids?” Anne asked “Took them in if their families died or didn’t want them, or couldn’t take care of them and let people adopt them?”
“Well, I never would have met you, that’s for sure. You would have been adopted on the spot.”
“Oh, John.”
“In fact, I’m fairly certain families would have been fighting with each other to take you home.”
“John, I’m being serious. What if you could adopt kids like you could adopt the elderly?”
“I don’t know, Anne. Let’s not dwell on it, though. We’re getting new parents, today. No need to be focused on the past. There’s nothing to be done about that. The future is what’s up for grabs.” There was a knock on the door as the words were coming out of his mouth. They both looked up and it swung open, revealing Mr. Lewis and the Millers -- wrinkled, white-haired, and smiling broadly as they were shown into the room.
“Mr. Lewis told me you let us keep the name.” Mr. Miller said as the door closed behind him “Mighty thankful for that, my boy.” He held out his quivering hand to John, who shook it firmly.
“No need to be. You mentioned you wanted to keep it, after all.”
“Of course, we’re even more thankful that you adopted the both of us.” Mrs. Miller added, clutching her husband's arm, knobbly knuckles almost white “I don’t know what I would do without Frank.”
“We wouldn’t dream of separating you two.” Anne replied, beaming at them “How long did you say you’ve been married?”
“I think we’re... what are we up to, now?” Frank asked thoughtfully, looking down at Sue.
“Well, almost 50 years, if I’ve got my math right.”
“Ah, your math’s always right. And you kids? How much have we got you beat by?”
“You’ve practically got ten times as many years under your belt as we do.” John laughed, wrapping his arm around Anne’s waist. The conversation came to a pause as Mr. Lewis cleared his throat.
“I see you signed as I told you.” He said, looking down at the paper “You can go now. Take this registration with you. And remember, I’ll be sending someone out to be sure everything’s going alright.”
“Of course, Mr. Lewis.” John said, then turned back to the Millers “Let’s go home, then. It’s nearly time for dinner and someone wouldn’t let me finish fixing the leaky sink before we came.” Anne crossed her arms at him as they slowly started to make their way out of the room.
“Leaky sink, eh?” Frank asked as he hobbled through the door “I can show you a thing or two about sinks.”
“And I don’t mind a bit in helping with dinner.” Sue put in.
“That would be excellent,” John replied, waiting patiently to shut the door to Mr. Lewis’ office behind them.

@basically-jay-walker @dark-twist-fairytales @toastingpencils37 period you get to hear about geology.
We start our humble journey with introducing geology. You might hear geology and think "oh wow just rocks" BUT NO. IT'S NOT JUST ROCKS. IT'S EVERYTHING. YOU ARE GEOLOGY.
Those mountains? Geology. That grass? Geology. That weird hole that you found in the ground as a kid and there was no logical explanation for? Geology. All of it is fucking geology; it never ends. IT NEVER FUCKING ENDS.
But, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and say that most of it is rocks. Yippee. And now if we can recall the clusterfuck that was Earth science in freshman year of high school, there are three main kinds of rock: igneous rocks, sedimentary rocks, and metamorphic rocks. News flash: THEY ALL SUCK! ALL THREE OF THEM ARE DECEPTIVE LIARS SO DON'T LISTEN A DAMN THING THEY SAY. Because just like animals, rocks have families! But did anyone make a family tree for the rocks??? NO! NO THEY DIDN'T! AND THEY NEGLECTED TO TELL YOU ABOUT THE BASTARD BRANCH OF ROCK FAMILIES: THE HYDROTHERMAL ROCKS.
Stepping back because I will talk about those goddamn families later, I am supposed to be able to just look at a rock and tell you everything about said rock. Color? Size? How heavy is it? What does it look like? Does it have bumps? Shape? How old is said rock? It is fucking infuriating. At this point you could show me a pebble and I would be able to tell you what it's made out of, how it was transported, where it came from and then some. I will never look at cliffs the same way again and it is not in a good way.
THE SPHERES? DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE SPHERES. WE'RE MOVING ON.
And you know how rocks come in different sizes? APPARENTLY THEY HAVE OFFICIAL NAMES. BECAUSE THE WORLD WASN'T COMPLICATED ENOUGH. Clay isn't just clay, it is the smallest clast you can have! And then it's silt! AND THEN IT'S SAND! I'VE BEEN LIED TO MY WHOLE LIFE! Clasts can be as big as my pinky toe or the size of my house. Who authorized this?!
We are also skipping over plate tectonics because I refuse. Moving on.
Now I'm sure we all knew that rocks and minerals were different in some capacity, but here's the thing: minerals are bougie bitches and need to be all natural to be considered minerals. And some of them just grow??? Out of the fucking ground??? For what? Shits and giggles??? Tired of these people. AND YOU KNOW WHAT QUALIFIES AS A FUCKING MINERAL?! ICE. ICE. FORGET MINERAL WATER JUST FREEZE THE SHIT AND THERE YOU GO! MINERALS BE UPON YE!
And now we go back to the rocks. The igneous rocks. Fan-fuckity-tastic.
Igneous rocks are gross, but they're probably the most reasonable of the bunch. At least you can only find them near the volcanoes-but wait! NO! Those fuckers are found WHEREVER THERE WAS LAVA OR MAGMA! AND THERE'S A SHIT TON OF THEM! Granite and pumice and andesite and diorite and basalt and obsidian and tuff and GAH! They're all sorted by mafic and felsic levels, which is based on the amount of Silica or SIO2 that is present inside of the stupid sample. I hate it.
SEDIMENTARY ROCKS MAKE ME WANT TO BREAK EVERY SINGLE RULE IN THE GENEVA CONVENTION. They're everywhere like a goddamn infestation. On the beaches and in the swamps and fucking lagoons and rivers and lakes and coral reefs and deserts and jesus christ leave me ALONE. There's sorting with good sorting and bad sorting and two piles of rocks can look exactly the fucking same but GUESS WHAT! IT'S BADLY SORTED SO IT'S BRECCIA. HOW DO YOU SORT ROCKS IN NATURE? And they can be formed in multiple different ways: press those bitches together or stick some nice natural glue in all the cracks! Hell, just do both!
Metamorphic rocks? More like METAMORPH-ICKY! GROSS! I HATE METAMORPHIC ROCKS. There's cross sections and axises and HINGES? Since when can rocks fold? Bend motherfuckers to my iron will. THEY HAVE CLEAVAGE! BESTIES PUT THOSE AWAY THERE ARE CHILDREN PRESENT. I AM A MINOR I COULD SUE THE ENTIRETY OF GEOLOGY FOR EXPOSING ME TO SUCH INDECIENCES! I'm usually a free the nips kinda guy BUT NOT FOR THE ROCKS. Those fuckers have axis of symmetry istg.
I skipped over a ton of stuff and tried to make it more entertaining than my personal experience. Anyways geology vent over need to get back to work
I am this close to saying fuck it and putting ice cream on top of my sweet potato fries and pretending that I no longer exist.
Anyway. Does anyone wanna hear about geology

hi again!! i love your writings and tysm for doing my requests!! if it isn't too much trouble, could i request part 3 of reader getting insulted behind their back with shenhe, yanfei, rosaria and lumine x reader(all romantic) ? have a lovely day and make sure to take care!!
Character's defending Reader
Hi! Sorry for taking such a long time!!! I have had such a busy weekend and exams are next week, so I had to study lots. But here you go! Hope you like!
Plot: When the reader is being talked behind their back, it is up to these ladies to defend their beloved
Characters:(In order) Shenhe, Yanfei, Rosaria. Lumine.
Warning: Not proofread. If there are any major mistakes let me know!
Shenhe
She knows what it is like to be hurt because of words, so she obviously does not like how they are speaking of you
Shenhe wouldn't really openly confront them, she does so privately. Discreetly enough so that it doesn't cause a scene but does scare them.
When this happened it also happened to be during a date! So you can imagine how mad she was by someone putting a sour taste to her mood
A group of friends kept whispering things about you as you and Shenhe walked around the streets of Liyue. You were too busy with your snacks you had bought earlier and hadn't noticed, but Shenhe had.
"How pathetic. She really thinks she deserves all that pity just because of what happened that day?" One of them sneered.
Shenhe looked at them with a death glare on her face. Her head was tilted up slightly and she was looking down on them. How disgraceful, talking to someone behind their backs.
The group turned to where you were and saw Shenhe's look. They quickly shut up, returning the glare that Shenhe was giving them.
Shenhe's hand began it form small snowflakes around her and she tried to tell herself to calm down as to not cause a scene. You grabbed the hand that was cold to pull her attention back to you.
"is everything ok?" You asked, rubbing your finger on her hand to warm it up.
Shenhe looked at you and frowned, "Yes. It everything is alright." She gently lead you away from the group, not wanting you to take notice of them.
She tried to change her mood throughout the rest of the date, but what they were saying really did make her mad. She'd make sure to teach them a lesson if she ever saw them again
Yanfei
She will literally sue them for public harassment. Even if you didn't hear. She would find a way. And she would win. No matter what. Even if she has to play dirty
And by letting them know they are being sued, she let you know in the process. Woops...
"I mean look at that outfit. It's terrible. She looks like a clown. Actually I heard she stole those clothes from that one shop. " One girl laughed.
You were walking around with Yanfei running errands. You were currently speaking with one of her customers about something while she placed the facts together in her head when she noticed a girl looking at you.
She didn't let any other words leave her mouth when she walked over, "Good afternoon. I am sure that you're already aware of what you're doing is wrong. I'm afraid to say that I would have to bring you to court for a defamation charge."
The girls knew who Yanfei was, and they knew that she could bring them down. Especially in their reputation.
You noticed the ruckus being caused and walked over, "What's going on?"
"These two young ladies were slandering your name. Which is something you can charge them on. I'll take on your case of course." Yanfei explained.
You smiled a little embarrassed, "Yanfei...it's really not that serious. Come on, let's go finish your errands." You pulled her away before she further scared the girls.
She grumbled the rest of the way, saying how you should've let her teach them a lesson
The girls were so scared after that day that they never bad mouthed you again. Or anytime for that matter. They were too scared of someone listening in and doing something that could bring them down. Or show how low they rly were. (did that make sense? Basically, they didn't want people to know how rude and disgraceful they really were)
Rosaria
They are 100% dead after that day. She will not be taking any slander or gossiping towards her beloved (Y/N).
She makes sure to terrify them first and then end them, quickly and silently. For the church of course...they has misdemeanors...or she confused them for another target. How tragic. Not
But, you would not hear a word about it. She could dispose of them and make sure you don't hear a thing about what happened.
"I hate (Y/N). They could die and I'm sure no one would even miss them. Why are they here anyways. " One person whispered inside the church. This was a holy place. How dare they speak such impurities here.
Rosaria circled the place, her eye locked on the three young people. They felt chills go down their spine and they all looked around to see why they felt eyes on them.
Suddenly they saw Rosaria, staring at them from the other side of the church. Her eyes were terrifying. They all quickly exited the church. After a few minutes passed, Rosaria followed.
If she hadn't bumped into you, she might've actually done it. But your sweet smile made her forget her current anger a little bit.
"why do you look to agitated?" You asked with concern.
She grabbed your waist and tilted your head up, placing a kiss at the corner of your lips, "No reason. If someone ever speaks badly of you, let me know."
You blushed a little, this was a bit out of character, "S-sure thing."
Ah about the ones that escaped thanks to you, well they disappeared from Monstadt. Whether they moved or Rosaria "took care" of them was between her and the archons.
Lumine
She knew what it was like to have people hate you. When she first arrived in Liyue, she was accused of killing their god, and in Inazuma, her arrival brought much controversies between the two sides.
She had supporters, haters, followers and enemies. She was used to it by now, so she knew how to handle it.
But when she heard someone insult your good name, something lit up inside her
"Look at how she carries herself. Pathetic." One woman scoffed, "did her parents not teach her manners."
Lumine glanced over at the pair, her eyes narrowing. You were currently looked around the local market for tonight's dinner, and were walking around excited and skipping around.
"That's no way to act like a lady." The woman said, taking out her fan and hiding her scowl.
Lumine turned to her, "No, speaking to distastefully is no way to act like a lady. You don't even know (Y/N), so you don’t have the right to say such things." And before the lady could react, she walked on over to you, taking your hand and moving you away.
As you asked what was wrong, she simply muttered something about catching tonight's dinner instead.
After so many people being unhelpful with finding her brother and only giving her tasks to do, she was done with the locals. And now that they were dragging you down too, she wasn't afraid to speak back to them.

Write a scene between two [of your] characters with no dialogue. Make it a quiet private moment where we see what theyre like together when no one else is around.
I sort of went outside the parameters of this prompt, that bein I used dialogue (I love writing it, sue me) and this is blue exorcist fanfic but... it still turned out good so no complaining 👹
bon x rin, aged-up, established relationship
: :
A Moment in Time
Soft light filtered through sheer curtains, bathing their small room in late-afternoon liquid gold. It was warm, gentle, settling over bared skin like a silken sheet, and Ryuuji wished he could stay like this forever. Rin snuffled slightly, burrowing his nose against Ryuuji's skin and sighing. A small smile curled the brunets lips.
Peace was a rare treat. When they weren't exorcizing demons or training, Ryuuji and his yearmates were often swamped with paperwork, teaching, and being sent out to various locations throughout Japan for patrol. And even then, their days off were often spent with peers or family. It was a rare occasion Bon got the entire day to lounge at home with the love of his life.
Rin skin was soft against his, warm and enveloping him in his scent (sweet and tangy, like vanilla and citrus, with the faintest hint of his favorite sugar cookie chapstick). His tail was lazily twitching beneath the blankets, hairs tickling Bons ankle and making a small 'shuff-shuff-shuff' sound against the fabric of their bedding. Rin was waking up.
Bon turned his gaze on the nephilim, his small smile from before coming back as Rin's jaw cracked open with a wide yawn and his eyes fluttered open. His eyes glimmered in the light, sleepy and filled with warmth.
"Mmmm, good morning," Rin groaned out, voice thick with sleep. "Did you sleep well?"
Truthfully, he hadn't slept at all. He had been distracted admiring the way the sun shifted through the sky, slowly paitning its golden rays across Rins freckled skin. No dream could ever live up to the man sleeping peacefully at Ryuuji's side.
"Yeah, like a baby." Rin smiled, eyes closing with content. Slowly, he rose from his reclined position, stretching his hands above his head and groaning as shivers wracked his body. Ryuuji chuckled, amused at Rins antics. Rins cheek dimpled, a sure sign of deviousness, and Ryuuji's chuckled turned into a laugh as Rin flopped against him dramatically, still shaking. He relaxed, laying completely across Bons lap with his eyes closed.
Silence reigned. Rin peeked out one eye, and was immediately struck dumbfound. Ryuuji was smiling down at him with a tenderness that nobody had ever shown him before. The sun bounced off his irises, lightening his usual intense brown eyes into molten amber pools. The edges of his eyes crinkled the way they did when he saw his mom and when Rin made curry.
Struck with overwhelming adoration, Rin playfully flung his arms around Bons shoulders and dragged him down for a kiss. He planted kisses all across his lovers face, giggling joyfully as he tried (not very hard) to break his hold.
"I love you Ryu, more than anything." Stilling, a blush shot up Bons neck. He'd never get used to hearing those words, his name in that voice, filled with authentic adoration.
"I love you too, Rin. You think I'd put up with your bedhoggin' ass if i didnt?" Rin face twisted, and he smacked Bons shoulder with a loud 'Hey!' Laughter spilled from Ryuuji's lips, and he silenced Rins complaints with a searing kiss. "Lets go get some food."
Yes, peace was hard to come by when you were an exorcist. There were always people in need and new trainees to bring up, but as the sun set on the horizon and the warm scent of fish and honey tea filled his senses, Bon was certain that it was all worth it if it meant he could spend moments like this with his love forever.

Chapter 1
Going back home felt bizarre for (Y/N). It had been 4 years since she had moved away from the La Push Reservation on a scholarship to a prep boarding school in Seattle. Although students were expected to go back home during summer break, she spent her time in summer taking college classes or attending internships in the area, so going back didn’t fit into her plans.
But she had just graduated from high school and decided that taking a gap year could not hurt. Seeing her family wouldn’t be that bad either.
(Y/N) Uley had not reunited physically with Sam and Allison Uley since she left for school, only calling occasionally but always being to busy for anything else. The mother and son duo had grown accustomed to the short phone calls and vague emails they would receive from their studious family member. The Uley siblings used to be a very close pair, being only a year apart helped their bond. But since (Y/N) had invested all her energy into her high school career, their relationship rapidly dissipated; replaced by untold secrets and life-changing details.
The Uley girl had no idea what was in store when she went back home. She had left when she was 14 and was coming back an 18-year-old with a high school diploma and a bachelor’s degree. (Y/N) had always been an over achiever and applying to the school she had and taking dual enrollment was no surprise to her mother and brother.
The bus ride from Seattle to La Push lasted almost eight hours, so (Y/N) equipped herself with two books, plenty of snacks, and a fully charged iPod to handle the ride. She had gotten the earliest ride available always enjoying the intriguing mystery that 3 am travels brought. Her brown eyes surveyed the curious characters that voyaged alongside her a young woman sat with a sleeping baby in her arms, the dark circles under her eyes signaled the baby was still a newborn getting adapted to a sleep schedule; there was a middle-aged man, his eyes attached to a computer and a briefcase tight to his side; there were two teenagers, backpacks at their feet and shared headphones in between them. They were wearing light blue polo shirt and her school insignia embroidered on the left side of their shirt. She had seen them in passing, two freshmen still energetic and excited for their school life. She looked at them and smiled, remembering being in their shoes four years ago.
Four hours in, (Y/N) had finished one book, and the bus made its first stop in Port Angeles, the place where everyone that traveled with her got off. It wasn’t surprising to see from the top of her book as everyone got off, she didn’t recognize any of them from the reservation so it would have been surprising if any of them had stayed in the bus. For the next four hours, (Y/N) continued to read her second book surrounded by a comforting silence. The sun had risen about an hour ago and a nice warmth was streaming from the bus window and (Y/N) felt herself drift in bliss.
Her eyes fluttered open once again when she felt the bus finally rolling to a stop. She blinked a few times as she adjusted her vision to the bright midday sun and her brain restarted normal functions. The brunette gathered the bag with her travel companions and got up from the chair she had been glued to for eight hours.
“Have a good day,” the driver chimed as (Y/N) was walking down the bus.
“You too, drive safe!” The girl smiled and got her two suitcases out of the side of the bus.
(Y/N) got startled as she felt two arms wrap around her midriff and quickly swung her elbow back.
“Woah, woah, careful with those arms, (Y/N). It’s just me,” the girl turned around, a gleaming grin adorning her face.
“Sam!” She jumped onto the open arms of her older brother, seeing the years that had passed on his tired face.
“Look at you, darling. All grown up,” Allison Uley smiled, tears threatening to spill from her eyes.
“Mom, I’ve missed you.” (Y/N) hugged her mother tightly, noticing the difference in heights of her and her mother. Another thing she noticed was the strain between her mother and her brother. Before she left, they all had a very close relationship but now it felt like so many things had interlaced into their bond. “Let’s go home yeah?”
“I’m, actually I gotta go to my house,” Sam scratched the back of his neck.
“What house?” (Y/N) chuckled.
“I moved out, but I’ll come over for your welcome dinner.”
“Sam, she just came back. Don’t you wanna spend time with your sister?” Allison begged, wanting to have both of her children under the same roof again.
“I can’t.”
“Why not?”
“I just can’t, mom. Leave it.” Sam sighed. “I’ll see you at dinner, (Y/N).”
He kissed the top of his sister’s head and left. He wanted to tell them the whole truth, but he knew he couldn’t. Knowing that information would put them in a level of danger that he didn’t want them to be aware of.
(Y/N) stared at the retreating figure of his brother as he ran down the street, leaving her and their mother.
“What’s up with him?”
“Oh darling, if only I knew.” Allison sighed grabbing one of the suitcases her daughter had brought. “Let’s just head to the house so you can rest.”
“Yeah, let’s.” (Y/N) gave Allison a comforting smile and wheeled the second suitcase towards the truck.
The drive home was as short as she remembered, and the house hadn’t changed a bit. She walked up the steps to the porch and opened the old wooden door; it still made the same creaking sound. The house still smelled of seawater and pine, an odd mix but a comforting scent. (Y/N) regretted all the summers she missed here and all the days she spent away from her family.
She made her way up the stairs and entered the first door to the right. She ran her fingers through the stickers she had pasted on there when she was 13: a wolf, a rainbow, a heart, and a picture of her family. Her name still carved at the highest point of the door and she smiled at the memory of that. She sat atop Sam’s shoulder when she was just 12 years old, a trembling hand holding a pick as she carved as best as she could the name “(Y/N)”.
The doorknob as it was turned let out a squeaky groan and the door needed an extra push to open. The room had not changed at all. The walls were still painted a light green, the light switch still had the pink princess cover, the bedding had the little purple butterflies embroidered on them, and the pillows were all pink and purple. In a corner rested the five boxes (Y/N) had sent to the house from her dorm room.
“It hasn’t changed a bit,” (Y/N) commented as she felt her mother’s presence behind her.
“I didn’t want to change it until you came back,” Allison smiled. “But I’m sure you’d like to give this place a bit of a makeover.”
“Definitely,” she laughed. “I think I’ll go to Port Angeles this weekend, doing some shopping can’t hurt.”
“That’s true.” Allison side hugged her daughter as she laughed. She headed towards the door but stopped when she was called upon by her daughter.
“Hey, mom?”
“Yes, darling?”
“By any chance, do you know where Sam’s living?” Allison’s body stiffened but shared the information with her daughter. Maybe she could figure out why he’d just disappeared.
(Y/N) was surprised to hear he was living with a girl she barely knew. She knew of Emily Young through Leah Clearwater, but not much after that. Last thing she had heard Leah and Sam had been dating. She certainly had missed some very important pivotal points in her brother’s life.
The house wasn’t far, so she decided to walk there. Upon arrival she could feel the warm and inviting aura that the quaint house emanated. The blue door called to her as she knocked on it. It finally opened and revealed her brother.
“(Y/N), what’re you doing here?”
“I’m here to see my big brother. Is that such a crime?” She laughed.
“No, of course. Come in,” he smiled begrudgingly. “I don’t have much time so we gotta make this quick.”
“Wow, feeling the love there,” she chuckled passing through the doorframe.
“There’s just some things that I have to do before dinner tonight.”
“It’s okay, I get it. I just wanted to ask if you could help me on the weekend with my room. I’m bringing it four years into the present, gotta make sure it looks like an 18-year-old sleeps there.”
“Yeah, I’ll come over Sunday afternoon and help you then. Anything else you need?”
“Well, not exactly, but it wouldn’t help to catch up. You know make up for four years of chit chat conversations and get me up to date with at the happenings in your life.”
“There’s not much to say other than I moved out and I’m engaged.” He said nonchalantly.
“Excuse me?! You’re engaged and failed to mention that to me?”
“It’s not that big of a deal, (Y/N).”
“Yes, it is, Sam! You’re getting married and this is the first I’m ever hearing of this or the fact that you moved out or the fact that you’re engaged to your ex-girlfriend’s cousin. I think it is a big deal.”
“Okay, yeah. Kind of a long story on that one.”
“Enough time to tell it to me?” Sam hesitated. He could hear Emily’s truck approaching and two male voices coming back from patrol. He needed to get (Y/N) out of the house before they got here.
“Maybe another time. I’ll call you on Sunday, yeah?” Sam asked as he nudged his sister out of his house.
“I guess.” (Y/N) mumbled as she was pushed out the front door. “Bye.”
“See ya.” Sam kissed the side of her head and closed the door.
(Y/N) left the house with more questions about her brother that she had begun with but didn’t want to press on. There was no use if he wasn’t going to talk, so she walked back home.
Her mother had gone out, possibly grocery shopping for tonight’s dinner, giving (Y/N) time to catch up on some much-needed sleep. She walked up the stairs and into her room, plopping down on the bed not caring how she landed. All she wanted was to close her eyes and rest.
By six in the afternoon her eyes fluttered open once again. She could smell the dinner her mother had been cooking. The room had darkened as the sun was going down and thankfully her mother had turned on a lamp for (Y/N) to have some vision. The girl got up from bed and grabbed some clothes from her suitcase to take a quick shower before dinner. She stripped all her clothes off and let the water wash away all the hours of the day. As soon as the water started turning cold, she shut it off and got out.
For a second, (Y/N) stopped and stared at herself in the mirror above the sink. She barely recognized the girl staring back. The bags under her eyes were deeper than the last time she had seen herself in this specific mirror, her cheekbones were more defined than before, her skin paler than usual since she hadn’t really seen the sun in a while.
It didn’t take her long to change into some new clothes and head downstairs, where she saw her mother on the phone. Disappointment evident in her eyes.
“Sam, it’s your sister… please… ok, fine. Just don’t flake on her on Sunday,” Allison sighed, turning off her phone and slamming it on the counter.
“Everything okay, mom?”
“Oh, yeah, darling. Your brother won’t be able to join us, but Billy and Jacob, and the Clearwaters are on their way, and I also invited Charlie and Bella Swan. I hope you don’t mind that they join in.”
“No, I don’t mind. What about Paul?”
“You know I’ve never liked that boy, honey.” (Y/N) stared at her mother. Refusing to continue the conversation until Allison answered the question. “I did invite him, but he couldn’t come.”
“I love seeing you make an effort,” (Y/N) laughed and kissed her mother on the cheek. “I’ll set the table.”
“Thank you, darling.”
(Y/N) grabbed the 10 plates needed for the night and the respective cutlery. She still remembered how her mother liked the table arranged and set it as such. She set the vase filled with fresh flowers in the middle of the table, leaving space on the sides for the dinner platters. The arrival of the guests was soon after. (Y/N) had grown alongside Jacob and Leah, and on the summers, she would spend her times with the Swan girl. Once Seth was born, he became very close with the Uley girl.
“My oh my, (Y/N), how you’ve grown.” Billy Black grabbed Uley’s hand and smiled up at her, with the warmness that summer brought.
“Indeed, I have, and you haven’t aged a day in four years. What’s your secret?”
“It’s in the genes,” he laughed alongside the young girl. She’d always been a charmer, he thought “You remember my boy, Jacob, right?”
“How could I ever forget? Hey, Jake!”
“How you’ve been, (Y/N)?” Jacob approached his friend and wrapped her in a hug. “Been an awful long time.”
“Four years, that’s not much,” she smiled. “Come in.”
The father and son duo entered the house, and next came the Clearwaters. Harry, Sue, and Seth. No Leah. They had always been close to the Uleys, a bit of divide coming after the rupture between the eldest offspring of each family.
“Oh, wow, where has the time gone?” Sue commented, greeting the girl with a tight hug.
“4 years really do go by quick, don’t they?”
“They sure do, Harry.” (Y/N) smiled, motioning the couple in.
Finally, Seth walked in and engulfed (Y/N) in a tight hug. The girl was 5 years his elder, but he considered her one of his best friends. Seth and Paul were the only two people (Y/N) kept in close contact other than her family. For some time, Paul and (Y/N) had drifted apart but Seth always sent his monthly excited letters, updating her on what he had been up to.
“I missed you, (Y/N)!” Little Seth spoke into a bundle of brunette hair.
“I missed you too, Seth.” She smiled as he walked past her, joining his parents.
The last to enter were Sheriff Swan and Bella. The cop smiled at the girl and gave her a quick hug, commenting on how much she had grown, a low chuckle leaving his throat. Bella entered with hunched shoulders, possibly not wanting to be there but she still smiled at her old friend. Vague memories filled the girls’ heads of summer play dates and days at the beach.
“It’s been quite some time, huh?” Bella muttered.
“It sure has. It’s great to see you again,” (Y/N) smiled. “How have you liked Forks now that you’re back full time. Still hating cold weather?”
“Yeah,” the pale girl chuckled. “But it has its better days.”
The girls joined in a quick giggled before joining the rest of the group at the dinner table. Allison had already set the table and had said her hellos to the group.
The three males had engaged in sports conversations and the teens were all huddled in the kitchen munching on cheese and crackers and engaging in small chit chat.
“So, (Y/N), 18 and already a degree, how does that feel?” Jacob asked, stuffing his mouth with cheese and ham.
“Well, as good as it can be. Don’t know exactly what I’m gonna do now. All I know is that I’m taking a year off and taking a breather for the first time.” (Y/N) chuckled.
“I just can’t believe you’d spend all this time going to school, twice as much. I don’t like school at all,” Seth chimed in, picking apart the cheese and filling his mouth.
“So, you spent these past four years studying, including your summers?” Bella added.
“That’s correct,” (Y/N) smiled. “And now I have a degree and nothing to do with it.”
The group chuckled and moved towards the adults as they were being called to dinner. In the center of the table was a big platter of spaghetti and meatballs, (Y/N)’s favorite food, a tray of toasted garlic bread, and a bowl of a colorful mix of spring salad.
(Y/N) always enjoyed her mother’s cooking. Even on her saddest days, Allison’s cooking could warm her heart at any time. She and her mother had a very close relationship, even after four years of distance. Since her father left early in her life, her mother had always tried her hardest to make sure both her children were loved and cared for. And she stayed wondering where she had gone wrong with Sam and hoping (Y/N) didn’t stray away as her eldest had.
The dinner group had all taken their seats at the dinner table and were passing around the various platters, serving themselves their desired portions. Jacob and Seth were overfilling their plates, receiving a laugh from their respective parents. Charlie, Harry, and Billy were filling their plates with more protein than carbohydrates and the moms at the table smiled at the males engulfing the meatballs. (Y/N) looked around the table and smiled. It had been a long time since she had sat down with the important people in her life and was relaxed, even if two of them were missing.
After everyone was served, everything went almost quiet. Some background music could be heard from the living room and the sound of forks hitting plates and mouths chewing filled the environment. Everyone was comfortable with the silence, but there was still one question in everyone’s mind.
“Where’s Sam?” Seth spoke up, voicing everyone’s question. The whole table paused in action and Seth felt like a deer caught in the headlights. Sue softly elbowed her son. “What?”
“It’s okay, Sue,” (Y/N) smiled. “He couldn’t be here, bud.”
“Maybe he was feeling bad, like Leah.” He added earning a burning stare from both his parents.
“Maybe, Seth.”
“I just wanna apologize for our daughter missing this dinner. I know she really wanted to see you, (Y/N).”
“Oh, Harry, it’s really no problem. I’m sure I’ll catch up with her soon enough.” (Y/N) smiled trying to ease the tension felt in the room. She could see her mother gripping her fork tightly as she kept her head down. “But I would also like to apologize on behalf of Sam, I know he wanted to be here.”
Everyone simply nodded and went back to their plates. The rest of the evening was enjoyable. No one mentioned the pair that was missing, and (Y/N)’s past four years were questioned in depth. She had an answer for everything except “What are you gonna do now?”
She didn’t know and that’s what she answered. She mentioned she wanted to study medicine, having finished a degree in biology and always loved taking care of other people. Sue was excited, being a nurse herself. But (Y/N) had landed at a standstill in terms of her life and career. A vast portion of her life had been defined as a student and now that this part was over, she didn’t know who she was.
The dinner festivities were over soon thereafter, leaving Allison and (Y/N) to clean up after the group. The Uley pair put everything away in silence, exhausted from the eventful day. (Y/N) could see as her mother wiped away a few stray tears, sniffling behind her hair. The girl knew better than to bring the topic back up and left her mother with a kiss on the temple and a good night.
Upstairs, (Y/N) prepared herself for bed. The event had drained nay energy still left in her and she plopped down on the bed with a small thud. She had prepared her clothes for the next day, knowing her energy would also be drained but still excited to have this change. Her eyes fluttered close as she heard in the distance her mother’s quiet footsteps on the staircase, darkness overtaking her.
