May 19 Os 0 - Indians 10
Have you ever imagined what it would be like if a minor league team were forced to play a major league schedule? Well, you don't have to wonder if you are a follower of our hapless heroes, the Baltimore Orioles. But don't despair. This entire year is an audition, wins and losses are not so important. The results of the evaluation will be more evident in 2020. Nevertheless, it is a bit depressing when they just don't show up at all. The average number of runs scored in the past two games is 1/2. Sunday's starting pitcher, Yefry Ramirez lasted only 3 1/3 while giving up five runs, four earned. He was returned to sender after the game. He was followed by Richie Bleier who seems to be rounding into form. Next was Ynotnoa who allowed 4 runs in 1 2/3. Two were unearned due to his errant throw. He threw sixty-two pitches to get five outs. At least, he got his work in. Castro pitched the eighth without giving up a homerun for a change. Chris Davis led the way for the non-existent offense by striking out four times in four at bats. He has regressed recently, and the goal of somehow attaining a .200 average is ever more distant. Back home to face the first place Yanks. Cashner goes tonight with a chance to get his ERA into the threes. Nobody said this year would be easy.

Boston Red Sox VS Baltimore Orioles May 8, 2019
After Chris Sale and Jackie Bradley Jr. got Boston (championship sports rings) to the 12th inning, Andrew Benintendi took it from there.
Benintendi delivered the tiebreaking home run, and Boston received a masterful pitching performance from Sale and a game-saving catch from Bradley in a 2-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday night.
With their fifth win in six games, the Red Sox reached .500 (19-19) for the first time since they were 1-1.
The game appeared to have reached its conclusion in the bottom of the 11th, when Trey Mancini hit a drive to deep center. Bradley ran back, dug his right foot into the barrier for leverage and reached far over the 7-foot wall to snag the ball.
"Just went back, tracked it, and got a good jump on it," Bradley said. "Timed my footsteps the way I wanted to, and got up there and executed."
The players in the Baltimore (Baltimore Orioles championship rings) dugout went from jubilant to stunned as Bradley pulled the ball from his glove.
"Good players and great teams make great plays in big spots, and that was an ultra-exceptional play," Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said.
Mancini tipped his helmet to Bradley to acknowledge the catch, which enabled Ryan Brasier (2-1) to earn the victory.
"It really stinks to be on the losing side of it and think you hit a walk-off, but you've got to tip your cap to him there," Mancini said. "That was insane."
Not long after that, Benintendi connected off Yefry Ramirez (0-1) and Heath Hembree struck out the side in the 12th for his first save.
With Sale leading the way, the Orioles fanned 22 times -- most since the team moved from St. Louis in 1954. In the seventh, Sale struck out the side on nine pitches, a feat known as an immaculate inning.
Sale struck out 14 and allowed one run, three hits and no walks over eight brilliant innings. Vying for his second straight victory after starting 0-5, the lefty was pulled with the score tied after throwing 108 pitches.
"Over the last few starts, my fastball command has helped me out a lot," Sale said. "I think that was my problem before, along with some other issues."
Sale kept Baltimore (world series rings for sale) hitless until Joey Rickard lofted a single to center with two outs in the sixth. Mancini followed with an RBI double to knot the score at 1.
That ended Sale's run of scoreless innings at 16, a streak that began on April 28 against Tampa Bay.
Long after he was done pitching, Sale had the pleasure of watching Bradley's contribution to the victory.
"He saved the game right there," the pitcher said. "If he doesn't catch that, the game's over. That's why you love having him out there."
Mookie Betts put the Red Sox (Boston Red Sox championship rings) ahead 1-0 in the third inning with his seventh home run, a drive that sailed well over the left-field wall. That was Boston's 185th run compared to 184 allowed, marking the first time since opening day that the Red Sox had a positive run differential.
It turned out to be the only run allowed by Orioles starter Andrew Cashner, who limited the Red Sox to four hits over six innings. The right-hander is 4-0 in seven starts since opening day.

Cabrera grand slam leads Indians over Orioles, 8-0
Melky Cabrera hit a grand slam during a six-run fourth inning that broke the game open for Cleveland, and the Indians defeated the visiting Baltimore Orioles 8-0 in the finale of a weekend series Sunday at Progressive Field.

The Indians won two of three in this series and finished the season with a 5-2 record versus the slumping Orioles, who fell back to 50 games under .500 at 37-87.
During the early innings, the Indians took command against struggling Orioles starter Yefry Ramirez (1-5) and Sean Gilmartin.
Ramirez allowed seven runs on seven hits in three-plus innings. Gilmartin surrendered the Cabrera grand slam that gave the Indians an 8-0 lead.
Cleveland starter Mike Clevinger (9-7) continued to be a riddle that the Baltimore offense couldn’t solve. He threw six shutout innings, extending his streak of scoreless frames against the Orioles to 24, dating back to 2017.
The right-hander threw a two-hit shutout in his other appearance against Baltimore earlier this season.
In this game, though, Clevinger needed to work his way out of trouble a few times, scattering seven hits in the six innings. The right-hander struck out seven and walked one.
Ramirez struggled with his control and command in this game. He struck out two but walked five, which helped Cleveland come up with several scoring chances.
The Orioles came up with some good scoring chances early, getting four hits and putting runners on first and third in each of the first two innings. However, they came up empty each time.
The Indians took a 1-0 lead in the first thanks to a Yandy Diaz RBI double. They made it 2-0 in the second on Greg Allen’s RBI single.
Cleveland turned the game into a laugher in the fourth. Michael Brantley lined an RBI double, and Diaz walked with the bases loaded two batters later to give the Indians a 4-0 lead.
Gilmartin then replaced Ramirez and gave up the grand slam to Cabrera two batters after that for an 8-0 advantage.
The Indians did not get a hit after the fifth inning and ended up with 10 overall — the Orioles had nine but couldn’t score a run.

White Sox 2, Orioles 0 : White Out - Reynaldo Lopez pitches 7 shutout innings, Avisail Garcia homers & the White Sox beat the Orioles for the second consecutive night. Lopez allows just 4 hits, he strikes out 6 & walks 1, his offense gives him just enough run support to come out victorious as he battles w/ O's starter Yefry Ramirez. Ramirez allows just 1 run on 4 hits, in 5 2/3, he strikes out 7 & walks 1, giving the Orioles a huge shot in the arm. Yolmer Sanchez breaks a scoreless tie & finally drives home the first run of the game w/ a 2 out double in the 6th to score Yoan Moncada & knock Ramirez out of the game. Avisail Garcia homers (#18) off of reliever Mychal Givens in the 9th to add an insurance run for the White Sox & tie a career high in HR's. Chicago wins 3 in a row for just the 3rd time this year. May 18 Os 1 - Indians 4
Try not to think what this team would be like without Trey Mancini. One of the few beacons of light in the otherwise stygian darkness that is the Oriole lineup, He got the team's only hit, scored the only run, and produced the only RBI.. All on one swing, a homer that saved the team from the ignominy of being no hitted. John Means was not sharp, three runs allowed in five innings, well below his recent performances. His ERA zoomed up to 2.68, still far beyond the horizon for most Os starters. The fourth run was the result of Miguel Castro's one inning of work during which he allowed two hits, one a homer. This is pretty standard for Miguel, ERA 7.84, who gives up a run just about every time out. He has a live arm, but an iffy sense of direction. The team still retained its position as the 28th best in all of baseball thanks to K. C. and the Marlins. A spot start today for Yefry Ramirez. He looks like a pitcher, but always seems to give up enough homers to sink the ship. The starting rotation has several openings if anyone could prove worthy. Yefry seems to be on the cusp. Someone has to fill the spot vacated by the failed experiment known as Dan Straily. Going for a series split today. In Orioleland, that's a win.

Let My People Go ….
Well the NFL preseason is almost upon us and the first game of the preseason schedule will be the Hall of Game featuring the Chicago Bears facing the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday 2nd August, 2018. Meanwhile off the field , the big news’ story within the league has been the comments from Stephen Jones and his father Jerry Jones , front office executives for the Dallas Cowboys . Jones Sr has let it be known that any player on the team’s roster refusing the stand during the playing of the National Anthem could face dismissal from the Cowboys as well as the mandatory fines likely to be levied by the NFL hierarchy.

Slide show.
As the NFL continues to try and justify their latest policy change , it is becoming increasing clear the owners have taken a stance with the exception of New York Jets’ owner Woody Johnson who has stated categorically , he is prepared to stand by any player on the team who wishes to oppose the ruling now in place by the league. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell , has somehow engulfed the league in a public relations’ nightmare which it cannot win . Former CEO and founder of pizza chain restaurant Papa John’s , John Schnatter has resigned from the company after his racist comments were made public. Schnatter at the time, was speaking with a public relations’ firm seeking their input into ways of increasing sales , when he chose to use certain racially derogatory terms to describe African-Americans and Hispanics. Had he not resigned , then it was almost certain that his Board of Directors would have sought his ouster. Papa John’s still remains an NFL partner , but has seen it’s association with several NBA franchises abruptly come to an end.
From my own standpoint , this upcoming season within the NFL will not be one where I will be taking a keen interest in the regular season , let alone what might take place during the postseason. This league has lost all credibility , while the NFLPA (players union) remains a body unwilling to support when of their own when needed the most.
The NBA off-season has proven to be an interesting one with the departure of LeBron James , as he left the Cleveland Cavaliers to join the Los Angeles Lakers . James fulfilled the wish of his hometown franchise by bringing them their first professional franchise title in over five decades. However, the team that LeBron James now leaves behind will not be one that will be considered among the favorites within the Eastern Conference for the upcoming regular season. James’ departure might be seen as a big coup for the Lakers, but not less than forty-eight hours after the announcement was made , reigning NBA champions the Golden State Warriors were able to swoop in and sign DeMarcus Cousins to a one-year $5.3 million deal , veteran’s minimum . For those now crying foul , please stop with the idiocy and the complaints of the league lacking parity and competitiveness. The money now involved in the NBA, now creates a chasm between the top teams and in actuality to my mind , this has more to do with the culture now sought by front office executives and NBA hierarchy led by Commissioner Adam Silver . His predecessor , David Stern simply did not do enough by way of a league salary cap or seeking to keep those contracts in check.
This season , the number of players in the NBA earning more than $25 million a year will be at an all-time high , with the Russell Westbrook being the highest-paid player in the league by way of his contract. The long held belief that Gregg Popovich is a master tactician is not lost on many , but somehow in spite of his coaching prowess , this five-time championship winning coach was unable to persuade Kawhi Leonard to remain with the San Antonio Spurs . Instead the two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year has found himself a new home, having been traded to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for DeMar DeRozan , one of the most productive players in the NBA over this past season. It will be interesting to see what the veteran forward can offer the Spurs as they embark on another season .
MLB enters its second-half of the season after an interesting first-half and an All Star Game Weekend of festivities filled with a great deal of excitement . The non-waiver trade deadline is now in focus and there are likely to be several players on the move by 4:00 pm today, the deadline for all trades . The Baltimore Orioles now appear to be in a rebuilding process and it would seem that after their trade of Manny Machado , there is the likelihood that Adam Jones could be the next player on the move. Not racked by injuries but this is a team which seems to be lacking in confidence and where manager Buck Showalter now has to look to the future. Chris Davis is no longer the player who hit 50 home runs in a season , while powering their offense. If this season is anything to go by the Orioles have been a non-starter.
Over their last ten games the Baltimore Orioles have posted a moribund 5-5 record . They’re out of the wildcard contention and their divisional record is abysmal . The Orioles are in action today where they face the New York Yankee s on the road , with Yefry Ramirez of the visiting team facing Masahiro Tanaka of the Yankees , as part of their regular season schedule.
If you can’t beat them, then you just give up , continue to make excuses for your incompetence. There’s no other way to describe the continued woes of the New York Mets . Often seen as the ugly sister to their crosstown rivals the New York Yankees. The Mets continue to be abysmal for a variety of reasons , while their long-suffering and idiotic fans make excuses for the ball-club’s malaise. This Micky Callaway managed team has a look of defeat about them which has become so contagious and bewildering. The best performing player for the Mets this season has been Jacob deGrom , around whom there are now constant trade rumors concerning the starting pitcher. It is likely that the Mets’ front office will listen to offers for deGrom and quite possibly his teammate Noah Syndergaard . With two months left on the schedule , it seems now might be the time to take the chance on looking to the future by calling up several of their most promising players within their farm system. Micky Callaway will prepare the Mets for their next several games , starting off with Tuesday’s contest against the Washington Nationals at Nationals Ballpark in Washington, DC.
Once again the Tampa Bay Rays find themselves in a position where at this point of the season they are sellers rather than buyers. News now circulating , based on conditions of anonymity , the Rays will be trading their starting pitcher Chris Archer to the Pittsburgh Pirates . Archer was one of the few desirable starting pitchers sought at the deadline and it is believed that the Rays will obtain Austin Meadows and Tyler Glasnow in return for the AL ace . Archers’s last start for the Rays was in game against the Baltimore Orioles, a 15-5 loss , where he pitched six innings in the contest . . Chris Archer’s contract becomes an amenable one for the Pirates to have , with just two years remaining on his existing deal. Rays’ manager Kevin Cash and senior members within the front office will have a hard time trying to convince the fans that this proposed deal will be in the best interests of the ball-club.
The Tampa Bay Rays have nothing to play for but their pride as their season winds down. Next up for the Rays will be a three-game set against the Los Angeles Angels beginning on Tuesday .
There’s no doubt in my mind that Dave Roberts of the Los Angeles Dodgers remains under the gun and with the Dodgers failing to win the World Series in 2017 , with their first appearance in the Fall Classic, with their falling to the Houston Astros. I have to ask myself how much more can Mark Walter and Magic Johnson take as the primary owners of this ball-club ? Since acquiring the ball-club from Frank McCourt via bankruptcy proceedings the Dodgers have committed over $1.6 billion in salaries on a litany of players. This year the Dodgers possess one of the highest payrolls in all of baseball ,with their starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw leading the way with a whopping $33 million price-tag for his services in 2018. While the Los Angeles Dodgers find themselves with a struggle within the NL West , the question remains what will this team have to do in order to bring the franchise their first World Series’ title in almost three decades?
Dave Roberts and the Los Angeles Dodgers will be in action on Wednesday afternoon when the team faces the Milwaukee Brewers at home in a clash between NL counterparts. The front office of the Dodgers made some moves which they deem to be beneficial, as they look to wind down their regular season schedule. While Idon’t believe that Mark Walter and Magic Johnson will fire Dave Roberts should the team fail to make the postseason , I do believe there will be rumblings among the fan-base for something to be done.
What do you believe are the main stories now breaking within the world of sports and do you feel that the comments made by both Jerry Jones and Dak Prescott have any basis in merit ?

NEW YORK | JA Happ dominant in winning Yankees debut, 6-3 over Royals

NEW YORK | JA Happ dominant in winning Yankees debut, 6-3 over Royals
NEW YORK — J.A. Happ had made eight previous starts at Yankee Stadium plus a relief appearance in the final game of the 2009 World Series. This was different.
“It was kind of weird looking down and seeing the pinstripes on me,” he said, “but I’m happy to get used to it.” James Anthony Happ made the midseason impact the Yankees hoped for, pitching one-run ball over six innings to win his New York debut 6-3 over the Kansas City Royals on Sunday.
“It’s a significant dude to the rotation,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said in California surfer-speak, “that helps in not just the days he pitches, hopefully, but also just makes our staff and our bullpen as a whole a little bit better,”
Three days after New York acquired the 35-year-old left-hander from Toronto for infielder Brandon Drury and outfield prospect Billy McKinney, Happ took a shutout into the fifth before Salvador Perez’s opposite-field home run into the Yankees bullpen in right-center. Happ (11-6) allowed three hits, struck out two and walked one, and the first-time All-Star ended a four-start winless streak.
Happ had been 4-1 as a visitor in the Bronx. He threw four-seam fastballs on 64 of 96 pitches against the Royals, including his first 13 of the third inning. He mixed in 12 changeups, seven sliders, two curveballs plus 11 two-seam sinking fastballs — all from the third inning on.
“His fastball definitely gets on you, and he likes to pitch in on hitters,” catcher Austin Romine said. “It was weird. We almost felt like I caught him before, he was so much on the same page.” New York (67-37) won consecutive games for the first time since July 11-2 and remained 5½ games behind AL East-leading Boston.
The Yankees sought a boost similar to the one provided by David Cone, who made his Yankees debut exactly 23 years earlier after his acquisition from Toronto and became a key cog in the team that reached that year’s playoffs and won four World Series titles in the following five seasons. Happ joined a rotation that includes Luis Severino, Masahiro Tanaka, CC Sabathia and Sonny Gray.
“I feel like in a lot of ways he’s been underrated over the years,” Boone said. “I feel like he’s more in that upper tier than people want to acknowledge.”
Aaron Hicks hit a two-run homer in the first off the screen attached to the right-field foul pole , a drive off Burch Smith (1-2). Hicks also doubled, singled and walked.
New York took three over four against woeful Kansas City (32-73), which traded star third baseman Mike Moustakas to Milwaukee on Friday for prospects.
Brett Phillips, one of those prospects, started in his Kansas City debut and made a leaping catch at the top of the right-field wall to rob Romine of a possible three-run homer in the fourth. Phillips’ eyes were closed as the ball landed in his glove.
“Did I? Wow, that’s impressive,” Phillips said. Hunter Dozier homered off Chad Green in the seventh and Rosell Herrera went deep against David Robertson leading off the eighth, the first home run of his big league career . Aroldis Chapman, pitching on consecutive days for the first time since July 1-3, struck out three straight batters for his 28th save in 29 chances , his 20th in a row.
At the time of the trade, Happ and the Blue Jays were in Chicago, where he lives with wife Morgan, 2½-year-old son J.J. and 8-month-old daughter Bella. Morgan flew to Toronto on Saturday morning to pick up some of her husband’s belongings, leaving the kids with the grandparents, and flew out the same day. The kids will join them in New York on Tuesday.
Life has been a whirlwind for the Happs. “It was a little surreal out there,” he said. “but a lot of fun.”
SEATS A crowd of 46,192 was New York’s 20th home sellout, matching 2011 for the most at the new Yankee Stadium.
CLEANING UP Torres and Andujar on Saturday became the first different Yankees rookies to hit cleanup in the starting lineup of consecutive games since Bill Robinson and Steve Whitaker in a doubleheader at Chicago on Aug. 22, 1967.
SWAPS New York traded LHP Caleb Frare to the Chicago White Sox for $1.5 million in international signing bonus pool allocation, which raised its total to $7,502,600 from an original $5,002,600. The 25-year-old is 4-1 with a 0.81 ERA and five saves of 31 games for Double-A Trenton this year and one for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. On Saturday the Yankees obtained $1 million in allocation along with 1B Luke Voit from St. Louis for relievers Chasen Shreve and Giovanny Gallegos.
TRAINER’S ROOM Royals: OF Brian Goodwin injured his left groin running the bases in the seventh inning Saturday night and a DL stint is possible.
UP NEXT Royals: LHP Danny Duffy (6-9, 4.70) opens a series at the White Sox on Tuesday.
Yankees: RHP Masahiro Tanaka (8-2, 4.09) starts Tuesday’s series opener against Baltimore and RHP Yefry Ramirez (1-3, 3.49). Tanaka is 6-0 in 12 starts since an April 17 loss at Miami and is coming off a three-hit shutout at Tampa Bay on Wednesday. ___
