in my continueing quest to make Toi'uhla's life more difficult I've decided that zer baby hibernates like their father. Purely bc I can not think of anything that would distress zer more than zer 18 month old unexpectedly refusing to wake up one day, breathing very slowly, and being cold when ze goes to pick them up.
Like, ze knows Lordakai hibernates and ze has seen him while he's hibernating, but Still. Ze does not come from a species that hibernates and Eri didn't hibernate during their first winter. What would be even worse is that Lordakai had probably already been in hibernation for a month or so when Eri started, so he's not even around to help zer care for their hibernating baby, or just like, reassure zer they aren't dying.

✩ Workers Against AI ✩
Tumblr media
As we have seen in the SAG-AFTRA strike, which went well beyond AI and into workers' rights and equal pay, AI has already begun to have a negative effect on the entertainment industry. Part of the strike was the demand for workers to be protected from AI. There is the use of actors' faces without their consent, that they actively fought against. If they can just use someone's face on a much cheaper, exploited actor, what’s the point of paying the face the acceptable amount?
There were also the Writer’s Guild Association’s protests and strikes, which saw the incoming AI and demanded the stop of it, ““AI can’t write or rewrite literary material; can’t be used as source material; and [works covered by union contracts] can’t be used to train AI,” read the WGA’s demands issued on May 1,” (Richardson). They saw the threat to their careers, and as seen in the ways that productions halted, and my soap opera’s writing got even stranger than normal, the world saw the effects of the lack of writers and actors too.
In the end, many of their demands were met, including that of the ones surrounding AI. There were restrictions put in place on the use of actors' likenesses, alongside the pay that they received. There were also limitations applied to the use of AI in screenwriting. Their demands were met as the world seemed to accept that AI does not fill the role of humans and does not satisfy within the entertainment industry.

After a few uncertain years, the Bravo reality series “Vanderpump Rules” seems to have been given a new lease on life.
Over the last two months, the news broke that Tom Sandoval, a co-star on the show, cheated on Ariana Madix, his girlfriend of nearly a decade, with their friend and fellow cast member Raquel Leviss. Viewers’ interest in the show has waned in recent years. But with this new twist, there’s no longer a question of if there will be a season 11. Rather, it’s a question of what that will look like.
While the show — following the drama of people who had been and are currently working at the West Hollywood restaurant SUR, owned by Lisa Vanderpump, a breakout star from another Bravo reality show “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” — has seen its fair share of controversies, none have had this level of impact and consequence. The cast isn’t just a group of young adults anymore; the stakes are higher, and “Scandoval,” as the affair is called, dismantled not only their romantic relationships but their financial futures, friendships and real lives off camera, too. In turn, audience interest has piqued.
Ms. Madix has long been a fan favorite on “Vanderpump Rules” for openly talking about her struggles with grief and mental health. And now since the affair has come to light, her popularity has soared.

Now her star is on the rise. She has scored brand deals with companies like Bloomingdale’s and Bic Razors, released her own line of merchandise, co-starred in a Lifetime movie and even attended the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner. She’s also in the midst of opening a sandwich shop with her friend and fellow cast member Katie Maloney.
Inside the World of ‘Vanderpump Rules’
The Bravo reality TV series follows Lisa Vanderpump, a star of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” and the staff at her restaurants and bars.
Cheating Scandal: Affair rumors involving two members of the “Vanderpump Rules” cast who had been a couple for nine years and a co-star have recently gone viral. Here is what to know.
Letting Her Clothes Do the Talking: When one of the women at the center of the scandal was photographed on her way to the show’s Season 10 reunion, she knew all eyes were on her. She didn’t miss her chance to tell the world how she felt.
Meet the Boss: As the show’s star and  producer, Ms. Vanderpump is in the unique position of being both puppet and puppeteer. But authenticity is crucial for success, she said.
Season 10 finished filming last fall, but cameras picked up again in March after producers learned about the affair. In an edited interview, Ms. Madix spoke for the first time in months about Mr. Sandoval and how she feels about being on reality television.
Tumblr media
Why do you think the public has latched onto this cheating scandal?
I think our relationship was so longstanding that people, including myself, saw it as end game. I also think the people involved were so duplicitous and deceitful. [Mr. Sandoval] was also someone who was constantly preaching about integrity when it came to other people taking accountability and I think that shift in him — having no integrity — is something that shocked people. Plus, there are also so many people who can relate to the situation and can put themselves in my shoes.

Your professional success seems to be coming at the cost of your personal life. How are you grappling with that?
It is a lot of pressure because for any public-facing woman or any woman in general who goes through something, there are a lot of expectations around how you’re supposed to handle things. It is a lot of pressure when someone puts you on a pedestal; eventually you’re going to fall off. I’m just trying to remain centered in myself and make sure that I’m just being me and living life, and sometimes that’s going to mean making mistakes and not doing what everybody wants me to do. But it is really incredible to have that support and I feel as though it did come at a cost, a very unexpected cost.
How did it feel to pick up filming again after news of the affair broke?
A lot of times I feel as though with our friend group and with our show, I’m in a position where someone said something or there was an argument, and I wasn’t there to see it, so I struggle to know how I feel about that kind of situation. In this situation, I felt so strongly. I knew exactly how I felt.

What was it like to film the show’s season finale with your ex?
When he sat down on that couch [during filming] and tried to give the sad sack act, I knew he was going to try to sell a bit. I knew he was trying to be that person so that I would be the angry person; I could see what was happening in front of my face, and it was really frustrating. Honestly, when he started yelling at me, I felt a little bit satisfied that he was finally going to be the real him.
Tumblr media
Kristen Doute, Tom’s ex-girlfriend, also appeared in the finale with you. Your friendship has come a long way. Why was it important to film this scene? She was at my house [after I found out about the affair]. I think at that point my blood was 80 percent rosé and nicotine because I was burning the wick at both ends. She was asked [by producers] if [she would film] and she said, “This is up to you.” I love her dearly. Their relationship was much different than my relationship with him, but at the same time, I think there is a common denominator when it comes to certain problems. What’s crazy is their relationship ended 10 years ago, and yet, somehow, he’s managed to not grow in those areas at all.
What was it like to film the reunion?
It was kind of a weird day because I feel like most of the time in any other reunion, we go through the whole season. But in this reunion, it was really just everybody against one or against two [cast members]. We’ve never been united like that ever.

Do you think there’s room for redemption for Tom or Raquel?
I think any chance that either of them separately had for that ended when they started giving trash interviews victimizing themselves, her TMZ [interview] and his Howie Mandel [interview]. I think had they not done or said all of those horrible things, maybe one day, but I think the answer ultimately is no. In our friend group, the answer is no.
Are you open to filming with them?
No. I have nothing to say to either of them. Our show is very real and follows a real group of friends, and neither of them are in the group of friends, so, good luck.
Has this experience changed how you feel about being on reality TV?
I’ve always had a little bit of that anxiousness about saying something that would upset someone or whatever, and I still have that to some degree. But I also feel as though the worst possible things that could happen to somebody happened to me on this show: the loss of Charlotte, my dog of 18 years, the loss of my grandma, this whole thing happening very publicly. Part of me feels like, What’s the worst that can happen? The worst already did. So going forward, it feels a little bit like, What can I not handle at this point?READ 46 COMMENTS

Krystie Lee Yandoli at BuzzFeed News:
Britney Spears’ attorney filed a petition on Tuesday requesting that the pop star's father, Jamie Spears, be removed as her conservator.
In the recent court filing, obtained by Variety and other news outlets, Spears requests that Jodi Montgomery permanently take over the role as conservator. Montgomery has been acting as Spears’ temporary conservator since Jamie Spears stepped away in September 2019 citing health reasons.
Jamie Spears has acted as conservator since 2008, but the pop star’s lawyer, Samuel Ingham, first filed to have him removed from the conservatorship last year.
Ingham didn't immediately return BuzzFeed News' request for comment.
If the petition is approved by a Los Angeles court, Montgomery will gain the authority to communicate with Spears’ doctors, limit her visitors with the exception of her lawyer, and be able to retain caretakers and security guards.
In February, the New York Times released Framing Britney Spears, a documentary that inspired even more public interest in Spears’ conservatorship and the #FreeBritney movement.
It's well past time to #FreeBritney (or at least remove Jamie from the conservatorship).

Lynn Davis
For this research paper im writing about Lynn Davis, who has had over 80 solo shows since 1980 and also has worked in many collections. The main reason I chose to do this paper on Lynn Davis is because her beautiful landscapes that she photographs all around the world. Also most of her work is in black and white, which I also love to shoot in black and white. Two distinct bodies of work by Lynn Davis that stands out to me is “Greece 2008” and also “Niemeyer’s Brazil 2008”. These two bodies of work really caught my attention when looking through all of Lynn Davis’s work.  Also in both bodies of work she uses different technical styles.
In the first body of work “Greece 2008” the photographs are all taken in Greece. In this body of work she has six photographs, two of them were taken at the temple of Poseidon, in Sounion Greece. Another two pictures were takin at The temple of Athena Parthenos and Polias, in Athens Greece. The last two pictures both taken at The temple of Athena , in Delphi Greece. The photographs in this body of work are all similar but also completely different. For example the photographs of The temple of Poseiden, the first photograph is taken from the side so you can see the structure and also you can see the beautiful landscape around the structure. On the other hand the second photograph of The temple of Poseidon  its taken straight on and she is much closer to the structure, so in the photograph you can only see the beautiful structure. So from just examining those first two picture of the body of work I can see that Lynn likes to take photos near and far with some different angles. The perfect example of Lynn using near and far in this body of work is the last two picture which were taken at The temple of Athena, in Delphi Greece. The first photograph is clearly taken from afar where you can see the structure of the temple but you can also see the beautiful landscape of the mountain range in the back. The second photograph  is taken from much closer to the structure and from the  other side of it. From this angle you can really see the detail of the structure and you also get a little glimpse of where the first picture was taken from. This body of work really shows the beauty of these temples and also the landscapes around them. In my opinion this body of work is one of my favorites because I love how she photographs in black and white and uses near and far to really capture the beauty of all these places.
In the second body of work that I chose “ Niemeyer’s Brazil 2008” the photographs are all taken in Brazil. In this body of work Lynn really captures the distinct beauty of the structures themselves. The second picture of this body of work is The Niterói Museum of Contemporary Art , which is in Niterói Brazil shows this beautiful circle shaped building and is surrounded by amazing landscape. This photo really stood out at me because not everyday do you see a building or a structure that is shaped like this one. I feel Lynn wanted to focus on the beauty of curves in this body of work because in all five photographs the main focal point is something that is curved.  My favorite photograph from this body of work is Theater, Niemeyer's Walk, Niterói. This photograph is so simple but still so complex. The photography is a spiral staircase which is coming down from the ceiling into a completely empty space. But in all five of these photographs the last one captures me the most. This photograph is called “Auditorium, Ibirapuera Park, 2000, São Paolo”. This photograph shows a bright red curved piece of art coming out of a building of some sought. It really leaves me with so many questions. These photos really show the beauty of brazils architecture. In my opinion this body of work from Lynn is one of my favorites from her.
In both, “Greece 2008” and “Niemeyer’s Brazil 2008” , it shows the beauty of  the structures in Greece and in Brazil. In both bodies of work Lynn Davis wants to express the beauty of the landscapes and the structures in Greece and Brazil. In both bodies of work she also uses near and far to photograph, which I really like about her work. Also the main similarity is in both bodies of work she's  photographing different types of structures. In both bodies of work there are also some differences. One of the differences is that in “Greece 2008” all the photographs are in black and white, but in “Niemeyer’s Brazil 2008” some of the pictures are  in color. The main difference between these bodies of work is that one body of work is photographing structures from early times where in the other structures are more modern.
In conclusion Lynn Davis is  an amazing photographer and uses so many different ideas and techniques which I enjoy see. Her use of near and far in  her bodies of work really shows all of whats she's trying to photograph. Im glad that i chose to do this mini research paper on Lynn Davis because i really enjoyed examining her photographs and going through her bodies of work.

i think it's bc Eri has been on my mind as of late but I've been thinking about what growing old for the folk in that Pirate Thing is going to mean.
Lordakai is going to have to eventually weigh the dangers of hibernation against the benefits of stopping his continued growth. Eventually he'll opt to only hibernate one to two months and diet the rest of the year to buy a little more time. The greying that has already started will progress until he's joking Eri got their white coloration from him. The green of his scales will fade out to a deep grey, almost black, too. He aches and he misses the days he didn't feel his own size, but he's so greatful to have gotten to see these years. Even if he'd long ago resolved to live a life that meant finding an early grave. He hadn't expected to find a different sort of life that made living this long worth it.
Toi'uhla is a Lot younger than him yeah, but lorinuses don't live nearly as long as the koita. Ze'll be entering zer golden years as he starts reaching the end of his. Zer feathers will get thinner and start receding from zer snout. The yellow around zer nose and mouth will spread and eventually ring zer eyes too and the fur around zer face will grey. Ze spent most of zer life launching zerself at mach fuck in the direction of the nearest perch ze could jump off of next. That behavior is going to weigh on zer a little bit more every year. Old breaks will soon become better predictors of the weather than just looking at the sky and checking if it's raining or not. Ze doesn't mellow out per say, but Toi'uhla goes from being someone visiting nobility worried about physical confrontation with to someone they worried about much longer and fiercer consequences from when they got zer cross with them. Ze does eventually need Lordakai's help to get up onto his shoulder. Even if doing so makes them both ache, there's no other way they'd rather sit together.
Laz will hit bird rabbit menopause and soon after her ovary will stop producing enough feminizing hormones, and she'll start growing in more masculine plumage. It drives her insane, having a big long tail train when she's used to the short fan. It also frustrates her to no end that she can no longer make fun of Toi'uhla for being so dam colourful. She eventually goes grey too. And she and Yandoli may be just about the same age, but skedji are only barely longer lived than lorinuses. She was already middle aged when Yandoli was just coming into womanhood. Yan outlives her a few times over, taking over the roll of Captain of the Harbor's Bane not long before her father is gone too. She jokes he was just waiting to see another Lordakai at the ships helm before he would let himself go.
Fiana watches this all. Wordless, as is her habit. After Yandoli leaves the life, Fiana is still left on the ship. Never able to leave it. Never able to crash it or destroy it. He'll watch over those unknowably ancient masts and sails. Polish the floor boards and pretend to be indifferent to the other crew and captains who come and go. Until the endless marching of the columns finally comes to a stop, and the universe is at long last allowed to end.
She'll wake up at his computer desk. Breathing hard, the computer screen in front of her displaying and unknown error message. The site will reload, and his inbox will be empty of any curse bearing replies. She isn't a sure if he wishes she'd forgotten it all when he wakes up.

Jenna Marbles Said She’s Quitting YouTube Over Past Racist Videos - BuzzFeed News
Tumblr media
“I want to make sure the things that I put into the world are not hurting anyone,” she said a new video. Krystie Lee Yandoli BuzzFeed News Reporter Last updated on June 25, 2020, at 7:14 p.m. ET Posted on June 25, 2020, at 7:10 p.m. ET YouTube star Jenna Marbles announced on Thursday that she’s quitting vlogging after fans asked her to apologize for racist videos she's made, saying there are things in her past she's not proud of. “I want to make sure the things that I put into the world are not hurting anyone,” said Marbles, whose real last name is Mourey. In a new YouTube video, Mourey said fans requested that she address problematic videos from her past, which include her in blackface, and she “feels like we’re at a time where we are purging ourselves of anything and everything toxic.” “I’ve tried my best to grow up and to be a better person. And first and foremost, I want everyone to know that I’ve always been a two-way street, and that anytime that you criticize me and tell me that you would like me to do better or to do something differently, that I always try to do that. And I try to make fun content, inclusive content, things that don’t offend people or upset people, and that’s kind of where I am," she said. Offensive past videos include when she dressed in blackface imitating Nicki Minaj, when she shamed women “who slept around,” and when she made a racist joke about Asian men in her “Bounce That Dick” music video.
