After multiple times of re-work, I am happy now with the current version ^__^

At first I was unpleased because Yugi and Atem got too close too soon. Subsequently it was the complete opposite – haha XD

So it wasn’t easy to figure out a sufficient middle way for this slow burn story – But I think I worked it out now <3

Extract from Chapter 5:

"For me?" Yugi murmured, completely perplexed. "Exactly. I would like to thank you for what you have done for me.” “But that was a given. I can't accept that at all-" “Yes, please, I insist. I know that here in Japan it is considered rude to open gifts in front of the giver. It's similar in Egypt, where I am from. That's why I'm telling you that it's rice pudding. Enjoy it.” He glanced at Yugi and seemed unsure whether he wanted to do or say anything else. Then he slowly continued: "Well then I'll-" “Oh, I love rice pudding!” Yugi blurted out cheerfully.

"Goddamnit Aibou, I can't get the toaster to work." Yami held the metal box up in his hands, twisting it this way and that until finally setting in back down with a growl.

"Sweetheart, it's not plugged in." On the counter was a tiny figurine, patient smile and kind eyes permanently etched into his form. He'd gotten stuck like that, and, until the two of them could figure out how to get him unstuck, Yami had to navigate his body and his world. What did that spell for them? T R O U B L E. Sure, Yugi had no issue explaining even the simplest things to Yami - look, he'd grown up being taught patience - but Gramps wasn't aware that Yugi had another person living in his soul. He'd probably take poor Yami to the hospital if he noticed how strange he was acting. Thank god he was out shopping.

"Goddamnit." That was probably the thousandth time he'd said that. Yugi stifled a giggle. "Fucking...technology."

"You call that technology? Just wait till I show you the phone." Yami sent a sharp glare his way, and if looks could kill, Yugi would be dying in flames. "It's not thaaaaat bad. Lighten up. Think of it like this: you're gaining experience. You'll have to have it at some point."

The spirit growled and plugged the toaster in, popping a couple of slices of bread into the slots and pushing the lever down.

"There you go! Congratulations!"

"Whatever," he grumbled, but Yugi could see the slight dusting of a blush on his cheeks at the praise. "What's next."

"Oh, you're gonna love this. You get to use the stove."

And so began the day Yugi was 'bitten by fire.' According to Yami.
