Quick Pre-Ride Inspection Checklist for Total Peace of Mind
People fall in love with bikes mostly because they love travelling and riding. There is no better boon for any bike rider than preparing for a bike ride. However, there are some preparations to make before starting the ride, and Yamaha bike owners must ensure that all the Yamaha parts in Australia are in perfect condition and functioning optimally. This applies to bike owners having a bike from any brand, and they can do this easily with the help of a quick, pre-ride check. This checklist will help you in several ways, and most importantly, it will give them the much-needed confidence to tour on the bike without any stress of breakdown.
Here is a quick pre-ride check as recommended by almost every vendor of Yamaha motor in Australia.
CHECK THE TYRES
The most crucial part to check is the tyres, and you must inspect the side walls and tyre air pressure and perform a coin check for the tread. Apart from keeping some essential Yamaha motorcycle spares, this is another important step before any ride.
CHECK THE OIL LEVELS
Every bike rider should do this before starting off on a bike ride. The oil level should be checked every week regardless of whether you have a Yamaha motor in Australia or any other bike from any other brand.
LIGHTS AND SIGNALS
This might sound very childish, but you must check the lights and signals of your Yamaha motor in Australia. You will drive peacefully with the knowledge that your bike's lights are fully functional and no issues are present.
DETERMINE BATTERY'S CONDITION ALSO
An essential recommendation by the vendors of Yamaha parts in Australia is to examine the battery. This should be done every month, and if the battery is a year old and you are a regular rider, it's important to get it inspected thoroughly by a reputed mechanic.
LUBE THE CHAIN
Your bike's chain should also be in perfect working condition and flexible. Don't forget to apply spray lube before riding and check the tension. Lubricant application should be done frequently during the ride to enhance performance and prevent premature wearing down.
FOOTPEGS
You must also visually inspect the food pegs and check that the nuts are in their place. There should be no visible physical damage to Yamaha parts in Australia. Remember to check the suspension bolts. Keeping some Yamaha motorcycle spares with you while on a long ride is a good idea.
CHECK THE FUEL LEVEL
Fuel levels should be monitored every time to ensure that you are not stranded on a highway with no gas station nearby. Before heading towards an area where gas stations are not frequently available, you can get a top-up done and also get some additional fuel in fuel canisters.

MotoUSA 2011 ATK 700 Cruiser First Ride Video
youtube
But I like most about this bike is it doesn't resemble the dirt bike at all and it really shouldn't because it's a cruiser and a son said it too and daughter they said why should it resemble it in shape or form when it is nothing like it and he made it completely different it's a different motor and people are jumping up for Joy they said why is a dirt bike motor when it's not a dirt bike and I loved it and it was set up really really nice it's low yet it can corner and can keep up with sport bikes on the turns there's a lot of power about 80 horsepower and 70 footp and for a 700 that's a lot. And it really sold well this is a real high selling bike is American people wanted to buy it he's going to put it into production today and with a couple of bigger ones too pretty much the same frame it's a bigger motor so I'm pretty honking sized cruiser by the way he says he might make a real nice big one as a matter of fact it's two big ones 2000 and 3000 but not sport bikes but he has those too already designed and it being built for racing. These are for cruising but they do race them too and he's going to probably enter races fairly soon it's American bike but we're getting ready to take on the clones they don't want the bike out still it's not as imperative to them, but they don't like it. And our son says I don't know why they wouldn't like it because if the Yamaha is like a yamaka the ATK is like an American bike it's sort of getting it and all about getting free stuff like dinging me. And Tommy F there's no comment but he says sure they probably go for it cuz they're stupid like most clones and I agree why wouldn't you you didn't even get free stuff cuz he like this vending machine nobody's watching. No. Can't get it. Well anyways they're made to be a little dumber than me I'd say no but who the hell cares about a motorcycle company we're going to expose themselves over it and it probably pull up with you with brand new leather on. Lol it's a very gay look you're probably a new leather on too that's absurd. Tommy F said all that but my son said the last part. Literally want the gay stuff but when people dress up in their leather and it's new it looks kind of gay so I can see you from that mad Max thing. But you have to have leather for the cruisers you said it would be Spike would be the 700 which has a lot of power but probably doesn't go that fast it does though yeah it doesn't have to go that fast on a big bike it's true value but it looks really cool on the road it would be his bike that he designed and he's getting money from and people who have a horse s*** I mean a fit okay they will go nuts and probably out of control nuts just completely outside of their skin. Who knows what they would say it would be unruly and weird and strange drive around with a crew that originated and they'd be like it's not really his and Jesus would be just interesting wouldn't it. It says it's better than fighting with the shopping carts. So it's going to make everybody sick what's going on here and really the four 60 or 4 whatever size the smaller bike would be would fit him very well and then conquer everybody in the dirt you would not be able to touch him he likes to fly around fast okay and he likes to top it out and he's kicking your ass. He'd be kicking our ass. I mean it too in the dirt could be fast with that bike is really fast just wondering about the Enduro to get that first mb I'm sorry to get what he's saying it wouldn't have to ride on the road. But seriously folks it is the thought and they're going to come out soon and it's his bike and it's hers. Lot of people thinking KTM and in a street sport bike because they're made in Australia for real that's where the plant is and they want to take him there even trumpsters there's no way to get one right now because it doesn't have money that's what I'm trying to tell you
Thor Freya
That's a very clueless and last night was the example around 3:00 a.m. the attack convinced and around 4:00 a.m. they're all gone it was so huge it took a while and it kept pouring in believe it or not and it spread out in Canada it took it took that long and the empire attacked you afterwards you don't even mention it you're pretty stupid this is actually hard and it's took out a lot of stuff. So much so they're making it possible for us to bring out lots of cars and trucks and bikes and more all sorts of companies even ATK as leftover cruisers Enduro quads well trikes for off-road, in a slew of dirt bikes and the new ones aren't very much different so I'm going to the old deer dealerships who are not the big wigs cuz they're stinkers see if they want to open and they say yes it's not very many big wings there's like three and they don't have much left we believe. It is working this morning they're opening their doors again and I'm going to have these bikes

Ducati 1-2 on Friday as Rinaldi leads Bautista and Razgatlioglu, Rea 4th
Setting a best time of 1’32.468s, Michael Ruben Rinaldi topped Friday’s timesheets, finishing ahead of teammate Alvaro Bautista. Alvaro Bautista finished 0.029s behind his teammate in Friday’s running. Toprak Razgatlioglu took third place with a best time of 1’32.625s, 0.157s behind Rinaldi. Jonathan Rea was fourth 0.735s off Rinaldi’s fastest time. Michael van der Mark was the lead BMW rider in fifth. The opening day of MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship action in Indonesia has come to an end and the order has left us all intrigued going into Saturday. Despite Ducati never having won at the circuit before, their pace from Australia has been carried to the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit, as Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) ended the day on top and led a factory Ducati 1-2, with teammate Alvaro Bautista second. It was a dry first day of action and with humidity high, although rain is forecast for parts of the weekend.
It was a strong start for Ducati and particularly Michael Ruben Rinaldi, who, having topped FP1 despite a Turn 10 crash, repeated the achievement in FP2 although this time, without a tumble. Rinaldi continued his strong showing from Phillip Island and with a Friday clean-sweep and a Ducati 1-2 but in reverse order to Australia, the Bologna bullets may be the ones to beat. Reigning World Champion Bautista set strong lap times throughout the course of the session, despite suffering a Turn 1 crash. After a brief stint in the box, Bautista went back out on track and improved his time, although not enough to overthrow his teammate. Doing a 16-lap run but returning to the box and stating that he was struggling to turn into the left-hand corners, Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha Prometeon WorldSBK) went for a time attack in the closing stages of the session and placed third. Back in the mix after a Sunday to forget in Australia, Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) kept his powder dry on day one, opting not to go out in FP1 until the final 17 minutes as the track cleaned up and rubbered in. Rea was in the mix throughout the session and was right behind the Ducatis for most of it, on his way to P4 overall. It was a late burst up the order for Michael van der Mark (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team), with the Dutchman just less than three quarters of a second away from Rinaldi’s top time. The #60 was only 0.010s behind Rea directly ahead of him in fourth, as he showcased the BMW M 1000 RR’s potential at Mandalika, a circuit where it’s been on the podium – back in 2021 in the wet with van der Mark. WorldSBK action resumes on Saturday with FP3 from 08:30 (Local Time), followed by Tissot Superpole at 10:40 and Race 1 at 13:30.
WorldSBK Combined Results after FP2 1. Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) 1’32.468s 2. Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) +0.030s 3. Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha Prometeon WorldSBK) +0.157s 4. Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) +0.735s 5. Michael van der Mark (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) +0.745s 6. Remy Gardner (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) +0.906s
P1 | Michael Ruben Rinaldi | Aruba.it Racing Team | 1’32.468s “Today has been a positive day despite the crash after a few laps in FP1. I immediately felt good on the bike. It’s a strange track here because every session and every lap, the surface changes. There are not many motorcycle races here so there’s no rubber on the asphalt and outside the racing line is dirty, so you can’t make a mistake. From FP1 to FP2, we improved a lot the times and the feeling with the bike changed. I’m happy to be first but the conditions changed quickly, and I think it doesn’t really matter if we are first today. Tomorrow, we will come back to the track and maybe it’s a different story. We need to be calm, humble and try to do our best job.
For sure, it has been a positive Friday, but you cannot think Toprak or Jonny will not be there. They will be there for sure. During the winter tests, I think our team did a great job and our base is solid. The track changed a lot from FP1 to FP2 and tomorrow will be different. Maybe with more grip, we don’t know whether our bike is working better or not.” For more info checkout our dedicated World Superbike News page World Superbike News Or visit the official World Superbike website WorldSBK.com Read the full article

Day 4. Mt. Cook Village to Nasebey. 355km.
Today we awoke to a steady rain. Oh well. Can't realistically expect to avoid rain even in the drier summer season as we push south and west into the rainy zones of the South Island. The bonus was an end to end rainbow which followed us for over 20 miles as we retreated down the glacier valley to Lake Pukaki. The winds were fierce and as we turned toward Tekapo we struggled to maintain our line on the road. I would guess 45 mph +. Patagonia level stuff. A bit scary at times. With my jacket slightly unzipped due to unexpected warmth (didn't drop below the 50s even up by the glaciers) I felt like the Michelin man who was about to be launched like a kite. We cruised by the stunningly blue lakes and took a bunch of pictures with the full rainbow and then the azure water. Wish the pics were as impressive as in person but they still don't suck. Within 5 miles we were out of the heavy rain and skirted drizzle for much of the day. A slight concern for the pannier's ability to stay dry after it seemed there was some water upon loading this AM. However we have dry duds after the day so all appears fine for now. Western rain in feet may yield a different result but fingers crossed. We were told to get gas every 250kms to avoid an issue. We ended the day about 240 kms on our tanks from Geraldine. We cut it a bit too close as we were on reserve counting up to 26kms on reserve. I believe the 800 holds 16 liters and the bikes took 15.5l. 😅 With fuel fears allayed we found a bakery in Tekapo and also lots of REI type campers, trekkers, vacationers. I had a banana cake and a steak/mushroom pie (I could get accustomed to these pies!) and a chocolate milk. Not a classic Kiwi breakfast but good for me!
Now, we endeavored to find our first unpaved route today. We had been told that a couple of passes were fun and so we routed ourselves from Tekapo to the road that aimed us up a valley and toward Hakataramea pass. A guy on a KLR pulled up alongside as we took a photo and he said he was going to ride through the same two mountain unpaved passes we had selected. He would show us the way. Off we went but in short order he was well ahead of us. He had a provisional license (beginner, provisional with a max of 650cc, then full) but was a dirt rider and we only saw him once more. As the road became windier and a series of 6-7 stream crossings occurred we then wound to the top of a low altitude peak and there is a gate there. You need to open and close it behind you. He was waiting for us there. Nice guy. However we never saw him again! We descended while taking in some dramatic scenery and taking quite a few picture stops. It wound out into some fine farmland and then into the biker town of Kurow. There were dozens of dirt bikes there. Apparently we were in the midst of the Vincent rally. Around 180 dirt bikes cruising through this fun part of NZ. We sat with a few guys from Australia on KTM, Yamaha & Suzuki who were enjoying more technical stuff than we were attempting! I had another pie there. Butter chicken, yum. Now we took a few turns in figuring out the way towards Duntroon and we stopped at some Maori rock paintings while getting our bearing to find the turnoff to Danseys pass. We were told there was a bar there so off we went! There was a mini-pass then a descent prior to heading to the top of Danseys. Bridges were largely paved over the water crossings on this leg and then right back to gravel. The views were beautiful and the ride was a good fun. Enough slipping and sliding but not too much! Very windy following the hills. Two thirds of the way down we discovered the Danseys Inn and pulled in for a beer. This is after I walked into the owner's house thinking it was the bar. I mean they did have a covered outside bar complete with a row of bar stools and a large wooden vat that appeared to be at one time used for brewing. And the crowning touch was the wooden bucket on the porch full of empty Speight bottles 🍺. As soon as I opened the door the large dog of the house wanted to get out and I saw the living room. Oops. He was very friendly but didn't want to be put back in the house. Fortunately he resisted only with his considerable weight and not his teeth. I had a good story to tell the very nice owner who was seated at the bar. Turns out the owner of the Royal Hotel was also there as we made his acquaintance again later in the day as he runs the only establishment in Naseby that is open for food and drink on a Sunday afternoon after 4PM. Nice guy. Two minor tennis frustrations so far... One that I completely forgot about the Australian Open when booking. Had I thought about it I would've been able to route here through Melbourne and enjoyed a day or two of AO tennis. Wasn't on my radar when making plans six months ago. Two, now I am also unable to watch the open. So much closer here but after CHC, the rural TV lineup hasn't allowed viewing of the last rounds. Missed Kenin's win and set the alarm to watch the men's final this evening but again to no avail. Looks like I missed an instant classic 5 setter and Djokovic prevailed. Oh well!
No noise here but the birds and the breeze. There are some groups of cyclists here who are riding the 93 mile Otago Central Rail Trail. The walk to and from the Royal Hotel brought us by a motorcycle enthusiast's shop with a few interesting vintage bikes including a Ducati Mach 1 and a cherry Benelli. The park we passed also boasted some huge trees which may be redwoods and are from California. Naseby is so quiet because after the gold mining period here (1863-1940) the Otago rail line bypassed the town and now there are lots of historic buildings but not very many people. During the height of the gold rush there were nearly 4,000 people here, now the number of permanent residents is less than 100.

What do you enjoy most about motorcycles?
We got together a bunch of motorcycle riders that either work in the industry or are members of a New Zealand motorcycle club and asked them all the same question. Tell us, what do you enjoy most about motorcycles?
Sebastien Hamilton Bay Motorcycles
What do you enjoy most about motorcycles? In short, everything. But particularly the heart of all motorcycles, the engine. The raw mechanical spirit of old motorcycles, the finely tuned scream of high-revving modern sports bikes, the solid rumble of a v-twin and the simple yet provocative thump of a single cylinder supermotard.
Bay Motorcycles are much more than just a dealership for Suzuki, Seadoo, and Can-am. The dedicated, knowledgable and friendly staff have you covered for all your motorcycle needs, from bikes to accessories. Sebastien’s first motorcycle was a 1980 Kawasaki Z250 and he currently gets around on his 1986 Yamaha XJ900 (and has owned about 50 bikes in between). His favorite Resurgence Gear product is the Rocker Jacket “In black of course” – Says Sebastien.
Max Mobley Counties Honda
What do you enjoy most about motorcycles? I enjoy being at one with a high-performance machine, getting to where you are going is a collaboration between the rider and the bike and that really appeals to me. Nipping out for an hour or two just for the sake of going for a ride is awesome, just concentrating on what you are doing on the bike and having a few thrills on the way is soul food for me!
For years, Counties Honda has prided itself on delivering top quality products, while providing unrivaled after-sale service and support. Max’s first bike was a Yamaha MX100 and currently rides a 2017 CBR1000RR. His favorite Resurgence Gear product is the Charcoal Hoodie “I like the casual look and they are obviously very functional in terms of protection” – Says Max
Denver Chance Resurgence Gear
What do you enjoy most about motorcycles? There’s a definite and undeniable thrill that comes with motorcycling. I’ve curbed my urge to try hit top speeds and reach personal best times, for me the most enjoyment comes from just going for a cruise. In saying that I do love really twisting that throttle hard from time to time, that’s part of the fun. Sometimes as little as thirty minutes on the bike is just what I needed, not to get from A to B, just for the enjoyment of it. I find it an unusual mix of both exhilaration and relaxation.
Denver took on the Resurgence Gear rights to both Australia and New Zealand when the Canadian brand first launched in 2013.
His first motorcycle was a 1982 Honda XR80 and he currently rides a customed 2006, Triumph Bonneville T100.
His favorite Resurgence Gear products are Black Bird Jeans, the Olive Rocker Jacket, and the Charcoal Hoodie.

While it does what it sets out to do, a part of me feels that maybe a little more depth in the opening tutorial would have been appreciated, especially for newcomers not only to the sport but also to motorcycle racing games in general. The first thing you are introduced to when playing RiMS Racing is the tutorial that tries to walk you through the basics.
#Rims racing track list how to#
Based on my first two hours playing the game for this review, it starts as an excellent simulator of how to fall off a bike and look like a ragdoll doing so. In summary, RiMs is an excellent game that tries to marry the joys of racing and the minutia of the mechanical side of things. I always found this fascinating and wondered how they were able to turn so tightly and not hit the ground.įast forward a few years and RIMs Racing from RaceWard Studio and Nacon wants to show me that it is a lot harder than it looks. One thing that always grabbed me about the show was when the motorcyclists would bank around corners so tightly that their knees would almost touch the ground. They would cover new bikes coming to the market and look at recent races that occurred.
#Rims racing track list tv#
If you make the right decisions and improve your racing performances, opportunities with other manufacturers will become available to you!Īll links are interchangeable.Growing up, there was a TV show I would watch called “4 Wheels Good, 2 Wheels Better.” As the name implies, it was a TV show centered on motorcycles.
#Rims racing track list upgrade#

MALAYSIAN MOTORCYCLE GRAND PRIX 2018
This weekend Malaysia was hosting the 18th round of the 2018 MotoGP Championship season.
It marked our 5 th time attending a MotoGp event since we began going to races in 2012 and our 4 th different host country. MotoGP series is a world class event attracting race fans from all over the world. The best racers from around the world compete in 3 different classes of motorcycles.
The Moto3 class features 250cc engine powered motos from various manufacturers such as Honda, KTM, Mahindra. The racers in this class are usually of younger age, some as young as 16 years old, which is minimum age required to compete. These young racers evolved from racing series in their home countries such as Asia Talent Cup series or Repsol CEV challenge or Red Bull rookies. This class is very highly disputed as the top rated racers in this class look to get a contract in next level racing class of Moto 2 and top level MotoGP. These motorcycles are fairly evenly matched as power output is concerned and drafting plays a major part of winning in this series. They are literally in many cases handlebar to handlebar for the entire duration of the race. The last race in Australia, there were 14 motorcycles crossing the finish line with only 0.900 seconds separating them. In this modern age of technology, transponders on the bikes can keep up with the non stop position changes. While the racers compete for points in the championship, so do the manufacturers and the various teams. The stakes are high as companies sponsor teams to promote their services and products to an ever increasing following of motorcycle racing fans. Motorcycle companies as well as a multitude of moto related parts and accessories have obviously stakes in sponsorship but even companies such as airlines , breweries , insurance an event some government tourism agencies join in on sharing the multi million fan base all over the world. It certainly works for me as I encourage companies that I see that are part of this series.
Singha the official beer and my official supply girl !
The Moto2 motorcycle class is composed of different chassis manufacturers powered by the exact same engine. For almost 10 years they have been using Honda CBR600RR based engines. The engines are provided by Honda, they are sealed as to avoid any internal modifications. I cannot recall any engine failure in this category. With power being the same for all bikes, chassis setup and rider talent is what sets apart first place from last.
The MotoGP class, is the top level feature class. It is the main event that attracts the biggest names and has the highest stakes. While each team has to respect certain requirements and given set of rules to promote the highest level of competition, it also allows for some non factory teams to access to higher level of competiteveness by allowing for certain privileges.
Attending a MotoGP weekend is a very special and rewarding experience. Not only is the level of competition the highest in the world, it is utterly exciting to witness the talent these racers have, their courage, their sportsmanship and very importantly the respect they have for the race fans that follow them and cheer them on and support them.
When the MotoGP rolls in to a host city , there is no way to deny the energy that it brings to the city and surroundings.
In Kuala Lumpur the entire city taken by the MotoGP fever , sparked by the fact that the local hero Hafizh Syarin was to be the first MotoGP level racer to compete on home soil. Personnel in bars and restaurants sporting team shirts or hats to display their support. As a #motogpfancanada I was overwhelemd by seeing all the motorcycle racing related promotions from clothing to posters displayed across the city.
While using public transportation, people display their team and rider colors everywhere !
Fridays are practice days, and allows teams and riders to setup their bikes to optimize every detail in order to qualify on the saturday for race day on sunday. At Sepang , friday practice day is free of charge for everyone ! To say, that the southeastern asian market is important would be an understatement. Especially for Honda and Yamaha, these 2 major japanese motorcyle companies have their biggest markets in Thailand,VietNam,Malaysia,Indonesia. While touring these countries, one can understand by the huge amount of 2 wheel transportation that goes on here, food delivery, people moving and parts delivery of any kind gets done by motorcycle. MotoGP has added a round this year in Thailand, increasing the number of races to 19 for the season. They start in March and end in November. There are 4 races in Asia and will most likely stay on the calendar for years to come.
The location of the Sepang race track is about 50 kms south of KL city centre. KL transit posted a shuttle service to and from the racetrack for the 3 day event, The price of a 2 way ticket was 35 RM. I took the shuttle from KL Sentral main terminal station. It took about 1 hour to get the circuit on friday morning. As many of who know me , I really enjoy motorcycle racing and to be in a bus full of race fans sporting their colors is an experience I cherish thoroughly. I got to meet people for Australia, New Zealand , UK and Hungary as well as many Malaysians.
There are many departures from KL Sentral, but if you are eager to arrive at the track as early as possible as I did, I did not mind the standing room bus ride.
Once you arrive at the track you see the huge lettering for Sepang on the side of a hill,
MotoGP weekend starts now.
As you walk towards the main gate you are exposed to all the sights and sounds of a motorcyle racing event. There are numerous stands selling merchandise of all kinds, as for me, a canadian fan it is difficult to obtain stuff like this back home. Today I am on a reconnaissance mission to explore the available merchandise being sold and which part of the stands I can get my best experience. Loud music fills the air at the gate area , bright colors and flags abound as you enter the site. In the background you start hearing the Moto3 bikes being started up for free practice 1 (FP1). If the sights and sounds bring back memories of my racing days back in Canada in the 80’s, the size of the racing venue here reminds me that this is not Shannoville Motorsports Park. https://www.facebook.com/groups/533885496621844/
SMP was great for me, however this here ,is the ultimate racing experience.
I could go on to write about all the racing action and the championships at stake , but if you are interested in reading more about that, there are plenty of stories to read across the net and social media. But what I want to share here is more the aspect of attending the event with all the other race fans at the site. There is a feeling of camaraderie at a MotoGP event unlike any other motorsport. While many fans here are motorcyclist themselves, not all are , but all are taken by the energy in the air. We met a young family from Gatineau Québec on our bus shuttle ride back to the train. It was their first MotoGP event ever and are not motorcyclists but they thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It is difficult to not be overwhelmed by such an event when you are with 103,000 spectators !
One of the reasons we attended the MalaysianGP , besides the fact that we were already in Asia on our #ourworldtour , was to rejoin our friends from Switzerland. We met the 2 brothers, Marc and Thomas at our first MotoGP event back in 2012 in Aragon,Spain. Our paths crossed during the entire weekend in Aragon and beyond, and our friendship was created and meant to be. We kept in touch over the years , remet in twice in Europe and once in Montréal. It was a real pleasure to rejoin them in Kuala Lumpur, sharing our views on world ethics, having a few pints over some great food. The funny aspect of this relationship was that the first weekend we met,we all spoke english to each other. They are german speaking Swiss citizens and it took us many months after we met to realise that they both speak excellent french, actually understanding our Québécois french and learning some of our expressions very rapidly ! In true Swiss fashion, they are both multi lingual as Marc speaks not only german, french, english but italian as well ! I envy their ability to be able to converse in so many languages. Thank you both Marc and Thomas for the great time together, and Au revoir à la prochaine mes amis !
Anytime more then 100,000 people get together in one location it is sure to have some consequences on logistics. Getting to and from the track was another experience of its own. On friday, I took the shuttle bus back to the KL City Centre (KLCC) and it turned out to be a 3 hour long ride in a massive trafic jam.
Again, looking at the bright side, I got to share a seat (rather narrow) with a young Indonesian grafic artist and we got to chat all the way back to KLCC. It is surprising and heartwarming how most people here are receptive when they learn that we are canadians. Canada has a great reputation in many places across the planet and we should ALL be very PROUD of this heritage. Sylvie and I are both extremely grateful for this, and all Canadians can rest assured that we will leave our mark to ensure that Canada keep its rating !
The shuttle bus to the track works well, in the morning, so saturday we took shuttle to the track. Sharing stories with some aussie friends along the way, we also took time to distribute some maple candy to many people on the bus that was greatly appreciated.
We actually saw some people later the next day that we had given candy to and they came to say hello and tell us how good they thought the candy was ! That is what we enjoy the most about our travels, beyond the sites, it is the people we meet and can share with. There are many more good people on this planet then bad, and most attend MotoGP events, OK I am a litte biased !
Saturday is race qualification day that determines grid position for the sunday race. KL is located a mere 3 degrees north of the equator, it is hot and HUMID. Late saturday afternoon it POURED for some 30-40 minutes delaying the last qualification session. While most people looked for shelter, the rain actually felt good in 35C heat ! After the day was over, our friends, Sylvie and I decide to take a TEKSI to the nearby KL airport and to take the KL Expres train into the city ! A little more expensive but much quicker !
For Sunday race day, the organisers of MotoGP decided to advance the schedule by 2 hours fearing that a late afternoon heavy rainstorm could delay the event. Motorcycles race in the rain but at times when conditions are simply to dangerous, delays are unavoidable. It was a good decision as all 3 races were run under dry conditions.
Leaving the track with 103,900 other people was somewhat chaotic, albeit organised ! We did repeat the train part from KLIA2 however there were no TEKSIs and only a shuttle bus to the airport. We did manage to get back to the city centre to have our last meal and a few drinks with our friends Marc and Thomas, and it was the end of a fantastic weekend to a great event. To be repeated somewhere, somehow in another part of the world in 2019 !
