Cooking & Food Manga Recommendations
Hi everyone,
This post is for fan entertainment, I am not being paid.
Recently I hit a slump in my manga, my normal tastes are cozy/slice of life, mysteries, and cooking. Recently I want more of the cooking manga, but I figured I would post my favorite cooking manga here in hope if there is people out there in the same boat as me right now they may get inspired and see if these recommendations are for them.
Sweetness & Lighting by Gido Amagakure- this was my first cooking manga. This manga is amazing. Our main characters are Kouhei Inuzuka he is a teacher and a widower, he is a single father raising his younger daughter Tsumugi. Unfortunately, he isn’t the best at cooking and relys on take-outs and bento. Wanting to give Tsumugi a healthier lifestyle. Also one of his students opens her family’s restaurant to them and they all learn how to cook. I feel like I cant do this series justice, this has the coziness of a warm kitchen and also at the end of the chapters they have the recipes.
Beauty and the Feast by Satomi U- I love this one as well, this manga was really cozy to read with some heart felt moments along with some comedy bits here and there. The story centers around Shuko Yakumo 28 year old woman that lives alone after becoming a widow in a apartment complex, and our male lead Shohei Yamato a freshman in high school that is a baseball player. Yakumo feeds Shohei, which is a feat in itself since the boy could eat enough food for like 3-4 people. Shohei lives in the apartments by himself because he applied to the school late and there was no rooms at the dorms for him.
The Masterful Cat is Depressed Again Today by Hitsuzi Yamada- This manga was one of the weird finds that I came across but I am happy with it. Saku is a office lady, in front of her peers she has this air of professional office lady that has her life together. But when she goes back home to her cat she turns into a slacker who loves drinking and loafing around her apartment. Her cat is the one that help put her professional look together the cat is name Yukichi and he is a huge back cat that can stand on his back legs. He can cook, sew, clean and dance along with his idols Umyu-Sea. This cozy slice of life manga is prefect it has some heart wrenching moments but you can see how these two care for each other.
Restaurant to Another World by Junpei Inuzuka- I remember watching the anime and I loved it, I got the light novel and read that I love it (the light novel at the time had a lot more people that the first season didn’t introduce) and when I got the manga I was happy but also disappointed, the light novel is still going while the manga is done with 4 volumes. A normal restaurant 6 days out of the week that’s Western Restaurant Nekoya but on Saturday Nekoya opens its door to a special cast of clients. These clients are citizens of another world. Lion people, mermaids, witches & wizards and dragons the food and conversations are really relaxing.
Otherworldly Izakaya Nobu by Natsuya Semikawa- Yes! This manga/anime is up there with Sweetness & Lighting. I am disappointed that they stopped releasing the manga (I am still holding out hope we can get vol 11). This manga was the one that introduce me to what an Izakaya is. Much like Restaurant to Another World where a door leads to another world, however this manga there is no special day of the week that the door opens to the other world, the front door leads to a medieval world and the back door leads to the modern world. The cast of characters are too funny and the food looks so good. I really do hope they will make more of this.
The Way of the House Husband by Kousuke Oono- When I first read the premise of this manga, I thought this was both awesome and weird (the good kind of course) ex-yakuza member turn house husband. Like this is the most random thing to put together. I am wondering how much longer the manga is going on (not that I am complaining). One thing I want is a detailed account of how Tatsu met Miku. We got a glimpse of it.
She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat by Sakaomi Yuzaki- I didn’t know what to think about this manga. I like it, the food and the togetherness that the characters show is my favorite thing. This manga also has some LGBTQ too, its when I got to volume 3 that’s when some heavy stuff happens and each chapter that has some sensitive topics had warnings too which I also like. I think I need to think about this one more, I don’t feel like I can write the words I want to correctly, but it’s a great manga. Nomoto is an office lady, and she is an amateur chef, but what she really wants to do is to make super big portions of food, but she can’t eat that much food. Until she meets her next-door Kasuga who is a big eater.
Superman Meshi by Satoshi Miyagawa- I wrote a review, now I am not the biggest Superman fan I am a Batman fan, when growing up I also got annoyed with him and people around him, how a set of glasses was a prefect disguise for him. But I like this manga, the food and the comedy bits that Superman has with his friends/coworkers/enemies are funny. The food looks great.
Today’s Menu for the Emiya Family by TYPE-MOON- I found this manga I think right after Sweetness & Lighting ended. Much like Sweetness & Lighting at the end of each chapter they had the recipe that they were making in the chapter. I don’t know too much about Fate Grand Order, but reading this manga I think my introduction to the series was great.
Manly Appetites by Mito- another LGBTQ series this a short series of 3 volumes but I thought it was cute. Office worker Otsu is super jealous of his coworker Minegishi. Minegishi is tall, fit and good looking that gets all the office ladies looking at him with heart eyes, while Otsu is short and a bit large. Unbeknownst to the office workers Minegishi is in love with Otsu, he loves how Otsu looks, and he gets upset whenever Otsu brings up losing weight. While Otsu thinks that Minegishi is trying to keep him fat. This is a sweet manga, and these two dorks are too cute.
Ms. Koizumi Loves Ramen Noodles by Naru Narumi- Another one where I watched the anime first, this was the good kind of weird manga. This series focuses mainly on ramen. Our main character is Koizumi, and she loves to eat ramen. The series shows the different types of ramen, how each location of Japan has its unique style of ramen. There is a cast of characters that accompany her to these restaurants, much to Koizumi’s disapproval, well there is one character I think she would like to avoid.
Ramen Wolf & Curry Tiger by Emboss- I was curious about this one with anthropomorphic animals living along with humans. Our main character is a plump wolf named Mita Jiro who loves ramen a lot and his friend a fit tiger named Yanagi Kagetora who loves curry. I can’t really describe the manga. The two of them go around to different ramen bars enjoying curry and ramen. So far there are only 2 volumes.
Giant Spider & Me by Kikori Morino- Another short series again 3 volumes I did a review on it too. The food and the story were perfect, and I am happy it ended on a happy note for both Nagi and Asa.
Laid Back Camp by Afro- This manga is so cozy, or a while I started watching videos on YouTube of people just camping and I have to say the camp food looks great. The girls have some much camping with each other or when they do solo camping. A wonderful comfort read.
Kakuriyo: Bed & Breakfast for Spirits by Midori Yuma-I watched the anime before I got the manga, and I love them both. The story is so interesting, a bath house for yokai spirits. The food looks great in the manga too. I do wonder if Aoi will end up marrying Odanna in the end. The whole premise of the manga is that Aoi’s recently deceased grandfather was indebted to Odanna who owns the inn that he trashed. So, Grandpa Shiro promised that Aoi would be payment for the damage, so while he was alive, he taught Aoi how to defend herself from yokai in her own way, by cooking. Aoi when she heard this doesn’t want to marry Odanna, she wants to pay off the debt, but the inn is filled with yokai that either hates humans or has beef with Shiro.
If you have any recommendations, I would love to hear them.

Alright I gotta ask since they're my faves-
How are Nuwa and Yakumo doing in your Au (wich is delightful btw/ human cult leader Abdiel is everything <3)
Yakumo is going to be a demon named Fuxi
Nuwa, I'm still thinking about her. I know she's going to have yakuza elements in her design. I would like to give her a different name, but I want it to be as closely associated with the original as possible. I want either a feminine version of "Shohei Yakumo" or something similar to Nuwa

Wait the kitsune is buddies with the yakuza or are we talking about Ran the Shikigami?
The Ran who speaks, and works for Yukari? But the yakuza folks also recognize her immediately and are like "oh hey, long time no see." This game kind of makes the split body and spirit fact about her even more confusing than before, but if you think about it people from the Animal Realm aren't supposed to have bodies anyway? So if anything the Ran that escaped from the Animal Realm long ago would be a bodiless spirit, right? Maybe Yukari repurposed her into a shikigami somehow? That's just wild speculation though.
They also recognize her as a being named Ran, by the way. Yuuma even goes like, "Ran, no wait, you go by YAKUMO Ran now, right?"

So is he going to figure out a way to leverage his former yakuza connections to protect his family? I mean, this would fit in with what happened at the end of last episode, with Yakumo telling him that what hew is si a strength if he chooses to leverage it that way. But does he even have any level of influence?

To stop Unno's frenzy and rampage, she became a servant by eating a part of his flame.

She understands Unno's desire for destruction more deeply than anyone and she fights every day to somehow keep him alive. Chapter 65:
Yakumo says Konron is a dangerous place...
And Naparva and the others have definitely shrouded in darkness. Now, while there are restrictions on the destination, you can pretty much go anywhere using the Sacred Land. They were lucky the Konron emerged in a dump of all places; if it was at a nuclear plant or any place like that, there's not a damn thing they could have done. The place is basically a WMD; people can't know about it or they will just use it as another weapon.
Yakumo gets out of the water he was bathing the dagger in and Pai greets him. She's ready to treat him...but he's got the ol' shrinkage from being naked in cold water and tells her not to look. She gets mad and jumps in after him, spotting his dick underwater. She's flustered...then hugs him.
The news says the fire killed all the locusts while Huang is served by Yakumo's Boss in the latter's home. So now what? Well, Yakumo has given up on the idea of a normal life (again) and is resuming his travels. Yakumo's Boss wonders why he travels so often and Huang answers it's too dangerous for him to be around normal people. The Boss asks Huang is Yougekisha can take care of him and Pai. Huang assures them that they can.
The Boss will ask their boys in the Yakuza for fake passports.
Yakumo wakes up, complaining about Pai leaving all the serious problems to him while she sleeps like a baby. He had to say goodbye to his friends, give up on his dreams...Sakuko probably thinks he's dead. He laughs it all off but Three-Eyed Pai doesn't think it's funny. She says he is failing to honor the mission of the Wu by treating his position so flippantly. She says she'll leave him alone when her mission is complete but at the same time asks him how he thinks she felt having to live alone in the sacred land. But...he did a good job beating Taisoei so she permits him to come with her to the Sacred Land. He has to bring the dagger with him though. And she has to prepare so he has to wait for her at the park.
He does so and wonders why she's so late. We see his boss brush off the other cooks explanation of what happened to him at the park and tell them he ran away the other night. Sakuko is disappointed but relieved...and she's certain that, when he comes back, he'll open the restaurant with them.
So back to Three-Eyed Pai. Why did she stay behind? Because she's gotten addicted to the booze and she can't be around Yakumo to drink because the other Pai's consciousness becomes too strong around him. Sorry Yakumo. End of chapter.

Hi there!
First of all, i want you to know you're actually one of the first blogs i check as soon as I wake up ♡
Secondly, and perhaps you already know this, but the way Rei calls Father, well, "father" is in a very respectful and traditional way; if I'm not mistaken, the term "Oyaji / 親父" is often used in the yakuza when talking to the boss.
So that's interesting 👀 btw i was wondering, should I pull for Dark Nova Yakumo? I've seen and read that he's really good if built properly, (6k basic attack, and a 36k follow up attack after Ult. Skill) but I just promised myself saving my tickets in all three accounts for a future Edmond event :/
oh wow, I'm in the morning news~ thank you ;; <3 !!!!!
Yeah I knew about the 'oyaji' thing but it still comes out as 'father' to me and not 'boss' 😂 If they wanted the owl to be called boss in a petname kinda way they should have chosen a different name I think XD Either way I'm still gonna love them <3
As Edmond is my forever wife I'd say keep loyal 😌🙏 but I did pull for Yakumo and Olivine once or twice in this event just to check my luck XD ( i had none, obvs )

The First Friend
Chapter two of Yakumo Sakura’s life where she meets her friend first that will join her journey through life, love, and friendship.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kai and Bai were both against it. It had only been a year since Sakura’s accident and she was turning eleven that year. They still wanted to keep her home where they could protect her and home school her.
Sakura on the other hand was completely against it. She was ready to return to school after dropping out due to her parents death and the car accident. It had taken her nine months to relearn how to walk and over a whole year to finally catch up with her school work. Thankfully her school was very understanding thanks to a large donation. Finally it took 16 months before Sakura could finally get back to training and doing anything remotely athletic.
After plenty of debate and retesting Yakumo Sakura would be returning to her private all girls primary school. Her goal was to be ready to enter Namimori Middle School in a year. She wanted to stop having a shelter life and live like a normal kid. Even the therapist agreed that it would help with her grief if she could continue to live like a normal child. Well as normal as a Yakuza Princess could live.
Kai was now her new guardian while his twin brother was her emergency contact. Her Father really had thought of everything for her daughter in the event of his death. He had already made Nakama Kai her legal guardian and left his business to her with Kai as the advisor until she was ready. There was also a trust fund for her that she could access as soon as she turned 16 but Kai was kind of enough to use the money to buy her whatever she needed.
~~~~
The first day back was exciting for the princess. She had been looking forward to getting things back to normal and getting back to school. Her guardian Kai dropped her off at the front gate in their town car and reminded her that he would be waiting for her around the corner so not to block the gate for the other students. She partly ignored him as she got out of the car joining her fellow students shuffling into the campus.
Right away the short brown hair girl followed the students towards the bulletin board to see what class she was in. She found her name quickly and smiled. This was a small sign that she should be back in school and that she had made the right decision on returning. The princess made her way into the school and changed her outdoor shoes to her indoor ones and headed up to the third floor looking for classroom 5-A.
Once she found her classroom she opened the door to realize one thing. She had been missing school for a year and half and there were already little clicks and groups. Another issue was that she didn’t remember anyone that was in her class. Awkwardly she walked over to her assigned seat in the back and sat there quietly seeing how she didn’t know anyone in the class. As more students filed in, Sakura kept feeling more and more awkward.
At the first break she chose to play on her phone and ignore what was going on around her. It was okay because no one talked to her let alone approached her. After all she had been gone a year and rumors had spread despite knowing the truth. At lunch she couldn’t take it and got up leaving the classroom.
She found herself eating her lunch alone on the side of the building under some trees. It was quiet as the student stretched out her legs. The cool breeze blew her hair to the side causing her to close her eyes. “I need to get used to this. Being a Yakuza leader means being alone. Father was alone. He only used mother to have an heir.” she reasoned with herself.
About to come to terms about this, she was interrupted by some other girl’s voices. “Come on Hinamori” was heard. Sakura knew that name. She was a girl in her class. An annoyed look was plastered on her face as she stood up. “You said you had money to buy us all lunch today. So cough it up” a different voice said. “I don’t have it. I can get it for you tomorrow” the Hinamori student pleaded. A loud slapping sound was heard along with a loud thump then some laughing.
“You’re so stupid. You really think that we don’t know you have money” the tallest girl said pulling Hinamori up by her collar. “Let her go,” Sakura said, folding her arms over her chest. The girls raised an eyebrow at her. “Who the hell do you think you are?” The first voice girl sized up Sakura. This girl had blond curly hair that looked like she was trying to pull off the beach look. She was fit but Sakura knew she could take her. Normally she would introduce herself but bullying didn’t qualify for a reason to give her name. “I said let her go” Sakura’s voice was calm but stern. These girls didn’t scare her at all. If anything she was afraid of seriously hurting them with her training.
The beach girl stalked over to the Cherry Blossom. “Hey brat I’d suggest backing off and leaving this to us. After all, you're the outsider. Missing for 18 months. You don’t belong here anymore” she talked down to her. Her hand went to shove Sakura but she was faster. Instead she took the beach girl’s wrist and easily used her weight against her making her fall face first into the floor. “Please restrain yourself from touching me with your filthy hands”” Sakura countered, talking down to her now.
The second girl turned her attention to Sakura now. Even the leader was surprised by her boldness. Hinamori was left to cower against the side of the building staring in awe of Sakura. The second girl had straight black hair that looked greasy. “You little…” but she was cut off by Sakura slamming her open palm against her chin then in a flash punched the girl in her stomach causing her to kneel over in pain.
Hinamori was in shock that some random classmate would help her. Sakura on the other hand turned her attention to the leader. “I will not repeat myself a third time” she warned her stalking over to her this time. The leader staggered slightly scared. WIthout a word she turned away leaving her henchmen there and heading back into the main building of the school.
Sakura let out a sigh of relief. She really didn’t want to get into a fight on the first day back after being gone for so long. “Um…” Sakura blinked and looked at the cowering girl on the ground. “Thank you” Sakura’s face twitched. “Don’t be so weak next time” she commented and headed back to the classroom. The lunch break would be over soon.
The rest of the school day went pretty easy. People continued to ignore her until the end of school As she was switching her shoes she felt someone watching her.The little yakuza princess rolled her eyes thinking it was the bullies from earlier and that they were going to jump her after school. Shet took a deep breath mentally preparing to fight her out. Proudly and with a strut in her step she walked towards the main gate.
A small smile graced her face when she saw Kai waiting for her at the gate. She increased her step and was about to escape when someone stepped right in front of her. “Shoot” Sakura thought as she instinctively stepped back and took a fighting stance. “You’re Yakumo-san right?” Sakura blinked surprised to see it was the same girl she had helped at lunch and not the bullies. “Yes?” She confirmed her identity and lowered her stance. “I was so nervous to approach you. You look so cool despite being in a school uniform.” There were stars in her eyes. “Okay.” Sakura was still confused as to why this girl was talking to her. “I’m Hinamori Yuna.” she said excitedly. “I’m in class B and I wanted to thank you for helping me out today at lunch,” Hinamori continued. Sakura nodded.
Hinamori was about to continue when a deep male voice interrupted them. “Sakura-sama we need to go.” Sakura held back a sigh of relief. “I’m ready,” she commented, stepping away from Hinamori and getting ready to head hom. “Oh...um...It was nice to meet you Yakumo-san” she ended the conversation. Sakura nodded to her and followed Kai out.
Kai held the car door open for her as the princess got in. He shut the door then headed over to the driver's seat. Sakura looked out the window at the gate to see Hinamori walking where she assumed home. Kai noticed this in a rear view mirror. “Is the girl you were talking to a new friend?” he asked her. “No.” Sakura said not even looking at him. “I helped her out at lunch due to bullies and she ambushed me after school,” Sakura explained. Kai looked worried and Sakura noticed this when she glanced at the mirror to see his expression. “Don’t worry. I didn’t really fight anyone. Mostly disabled the girls.” she shared. Kai nodded pleased with this answer. “Well it sounds like you had a nice day” he told her. The princess nodded her head.
The next day at school Sakura was surprised to see Hinamori waiting outside the gate. She took a breath and continued on towards the main entrance of the school. At least that’s what she hoped until Hinamori started walking next to her seeming nervous. “Good morning Yakumo-san” she greeted her. “Morning,” Sakura said back. She glanced at her and sighed. “Why are you walking with me?” she asked her. Hinamori’s eyes shifted. “Well...those girls from yesterday are waiting for me and they seem afraid of you” she commented. Sakura glanced at her. “Okay....and?” she asked. “Well I was hoping you wouldn’t mind walking with me in. I promise I’ll be quiet” she begged.
Sakura signed and went over to her locker to switch out her shoes. As she was switching them out she looked at Hinamori. “You do know that the best way to deal with bullies is to stand up to them.” she told her trying to get her off her case. “Yes but when I did that they attacked me like they did you yesterday” she tried to explain. Sakura frowned as she shut her locker. Hinamori led her to her locker so she could switch her shoes as well. “Don’t you have any other friends that could help you? Yesterday I just happened to be there.” she commented as Hinamori changed her shoes.
Hinamori looked down and frowned. “I don’t have many friends,” she commented. “My friends were those bullies.” she then told her. Sakura sighed and leaned against the lockers. “You are interesting, Hinamori,” Sakura said. “Yuna” Hinamori corrected her. Sakura glanced at her and was surprised to see the girl smiling and happy. “If you are going to use my name please call me Yuna. I want to be your friend Yakumo-san” she said. Sakura scoffed. “Then you should use my first name as well,” Sakura said smiling. The stars in Hinamori’s eyes appeared again as she shut her locker and held Sakura’s hands smiling. “I am so glad to have you as a friend Sakura-chan!” she said excitedly. Sakura blinked, chuckled and nodded her head, “Me too Yuna”
~~~~~
Yakumo Sakura spent two years at the private all girl’s academy with her friend, Hinamori Yuna. They had gotten really close and had plenty of sleepovers at both girl’s houses. They often hung out after school, would often go to the local cake shop, and even go shopping together.
Yuna’s parents felt sorry for Sakura’s family history and would have her often when Yuna wanted her over. On school breaks, Sakura’s guardians would invite the HInamori’s over to special vacation spots which only made the girls have an even closer relationship. Kai and Bai were both happy that Sakura was doing well and was happy with her new friend. Before the girls knew it they were in their final year of middle school.
One day in the homeroom the teacher talked about middle schools. It was their last year there and they would either transfer to the sister school for all girl’s middle school or Namimori Middle school. The all girls private school tried to encourage the girls to attend the all girls private middle school. Although Yuna and Sakura were going to Namimori Middle School. Yuna to get away from the bullies and attend a school that was more diverse and easier on her parent’s budget. Sakura on the other hand would be attending the public school due to the fact that she wanted to go with Yuna, her only friend. Yuna’s parents were also thankful because it meant that when they had to work late, their daughter could stay at her friend’s house safely.
Their teacher finished explaining about two schools and handed each student a sheet of paper. The students were required to write down which school they were going to and what they would like to do when they grow up. Sakura smiled when she got her paper. She obviously wrote down Namimori middle school and when she grows up she wrote “Something with business”. Yuna wrote Namimori Middle school as well but what she wanted to be growing was a teacher.
The girls finished their final year of primary school with a strong note. Both had graduated with the top 50 of their classes. Yuna was rank 45 and Sakura was ranked 7 of their class. Over the summer the girls had plenty of sleepovers, a vacation together, and a back to school shopping trip. Before they knew it spring had arrived and the girls would be getting ready for their first year at Namimori Middle School.
2:06 A.M. South Germany
South germany, where all their pain and the suffering began. One a peaceful place now a eternal warzone between the abominations of another world and the demon beasts of the dark realm of makai who lurked in the darkness of the outside world. All hope that is left is now lost that is until now, through the dark a group of horrors slain one by one by an unknown warrior as he was about to slay one more horror that got in his way but the parasitic beast manage to slip away far from him through the shadow only to finally revealing itself turning towards his prey all with a horrific roar then run towards him to fight back.
The attacker reveal himself to be none other than the first son Koaru Yakumo now fused with his father to become one entity to find Mato and end this nightmare once and for all for the boy has a special trick that none of these parasitic beasts seen it coming. He ready his sword preparing to finished these creatures off.
" 酸素の無駄.... "
{ " Waste of oxygen .... " }
The crimson dragon dashed forward toward the horror at full speed swinging his blade at the horror but it uses its claws negating the warrior' s attacks. Blade and claws now collided each attack they perform right up until the boy left him at a disadvantage and grabbing him by the neck using his strength slamming the being onto the ground face flat then swung his foot kicking him all the way back crashing into a nearby tree but the horror manage to set it's feet against leaping into boy but thankfully he evaded it just in the nick of time to unleashed the dragon within him. From his pocket Koaru pulled out a sharp tooth that of a dragon then the boy pierced the tooth into his as he let out a scream, now busting to a dragons flames as he began his transformation unleashing the true dragon within him the boy has chosen as the last dragon night by Edel the original dragon knight. Now upon completion of his transformation the dragon knight Koaru is now born but only for 999 seconds, that is the only amount of time he gets to used in this very moment.
The horror widened it's eyes realizing that the boy is a dragon knight, in the flesh but despite this situation turning for the worst the horror spreads both of it' s wings that are as black as night for one last and most desperate attack yet. The crimson dragon and the horror charged each other for one last time and once the two got closer...
' SLLLLIIIIIICCCKKKK ! '
The horror is now slashed in half by the boy and his holy sword, letting out a screech in the darkness before combusting into ashes permanently destroyed by the boy who now sheathes his blade while still in the armor of the dragon knight.
" それがどこから来たのか、より多くの恐怖があります... "
{ " There is more horrors where that came from... " }
Time's up, the armor disappears from the boy' s body reverting back to normal as he tips his hat while venturing through the dark area to regroup with his allies as it turns out the two Koaru and Koishi aren't along for he and she brought the only warriors he can bring with that will soon be revealed.
" やれやれだぜ... "
{ " Good grief... " }
There's no rest for the wicked thet will stop at nothing to find Mato and confront the great terror that is Shinki and the horrors for this is the beginning of two brothers in their paths, one seeks the demon king and the other seeks to reunite. No matter which of the two, there is always blood to be spilled.
*DN be plotting to tempt fate-*
Don't mind me, just a quick comic I made as a sort-of response
(Also, nah it's fine mah dude. Don't sweat it =w=b)
*Le pats Shikiya on the back several times* ùwú/ (For the touch prompt)
Initially, the man gave absolutely no reaction to the tapping. Shiki was knelt against a bent knee, and his focus was entirely locked onto something unknown at the moment, having the sleeping cityscape frame him well during this late hour. However, his posture and stiffness felt like a bad omen. Even the pattering of rain whispered as such, all the while disrupting the many colourful reflections that were cast upon the dark and empty canvases of asphalt. Slowly, he turned towards DN. The sharpness of the given glare probably didn’t bode well, either.
A moment later and the newcomer would quickly find a hand clapped over her mouth and was whisked away as Shiki carried her off. The reasoning was quickly apparent as a few bullets went flying by before the man took a sharp turn into the temporary cover of a nearby alley. A turn here, another there, until the Nishiki look-alike felt it was safe enough to finally halt the fleeing within the narrow space between two buildings.
In that moment, he gripped the other by the front of the shirt, and gave her a single, firm shake to make sure she was paying attention. “What the hell are you doing in this neck of the city, and at this time of night!? You should be damned glad you’re graced with unbelievable luck!” he hissed under his breath and through grit teeth. Shikiya was absolutely upset, but with good reason.
However, his lecture was halted the moment a distant footstep made contact with a puddle. Just to emphasize the importance of the situation, the Crow raised a finger to his lips to gesture for the other to remain silent. The audible tracks moved closer, past the buildings they were hidden between, and thankfully continued on until the offender was no longer within earshot.
With a deep sigh, he took the other by the hand and half dragged her with the quickened speed of his pace. Before long, she would find herself in a more familiar, and safer part of the city. Shiki made sure to lead her to a more busy area where there would be safety under the public eye and in numbers.
Now that it seemed safer, he gave his apparently temporary companion a heavy, but harmless, pat on the head.
“Don’t do that again,” he grouched meaningfully, before turning to leave her behind. He had unfinished business to attend to.
Yandere Overhaul, Dabi, and Tomura protecting their darling
Overhaul:
Chisaki Kai thinks through every move he makes, hoping for a minimal amount of errors in his line of work. This tentative approach sets him apart from most yanderes, as he thinks of almost everything when it comes to your needs.
There is hardly ever a chance for anyone to ever physically harm you. Kai is the only person to verbally interact with you, your bodyguards being told not to speak with you. And of course, the people he has chosen to keep an eye on you have to be close with him and have his trust.
But it’s impossible to account for everything. There are situations that can’t always been foreseen, experiences that have to be dealt with in the moment.
He doesn’t like taking you outside, he never has. There are too many elements not fully in his control, and it puts him on edge. But, if you’ve been good for a long time and have began to earn his trust, he might humor you with a few outings. They’d be in areas owned by the yakuza, to minimize any issues.
It was on a night like this. You were enjoying the fresh air, grateful for a chance to change your surroundings. Regardless of whether or not you genuinely like Kai at this point, or are only pretending, you’ve become accustomed to your... situation.
Kai finds unusual delight in your giddy mood, used to your more sullen self. He mentally takes note of every expression you make, remembering every smile. But you couldn’t tell that he was enjoying himself, as he hides all emotion on his face.
He beats himself up for it later, but he should’ve recognized the face of the waiter who took your order. He mistook the young man’s behavior as anxiety for serving a yakuza and his lover, and didn’t think much of it at first.
But when the waiter eventually pulls a gun to you, cursing Overhaul for ruining his life, Kai has to exercise all his self restraint. Your fearful reaction, your safety, all of it became almost choking to him. But even that is short lived, as Kai immediately figures out the best thing to do.
The waiter was threatening you, saying that he would pull the trigger; that it wasn’t a bluff. At this point, Kai’s bodyguards were just waiting for the order. But that wouldn’t be satisfactory enough for Kai, this person has insulted him on a level he wouldn’t tolerate.
“Kurata Yakumo, right?”
The young man freezes, at the Shie Hassaikai leader remembering the name of an underling like himself.
Kai begins to walk towards him, tentatively. He remembers almost everyone that works directly underneath him, this person included. He was let go of a month ago, he was caught stealing some money from drug dealings.
“If I recall correctly, you have a sister in hospice, don’t you? It would be such a shame, if something were to happen to her. I hope you agree.”
That’s all it takes, the vulnerable mention of Kurata’s sister making him shakily drop the gun. He never imagined that Overhaul’s knowledge extended this far.
At this, Kai wastes no time motioning to his guards. They subdue Kurata, who was an emotional mess. Kai ignores him, momentarily, going to press a hand against your shoulder. He was never the best at comforting, but he hoped the gesture was enough for now. You were pretty shaken up.
After safely escorting you home, Kai has a special request for the unfortunate soul who touched you. He would have several painful months ahead of him, every apology falling on deaf ears.
Dabi:
Dabi’s apartment isn’t exactly in an amazing area. He has money, it’s just simpler for him to live on the down low. He has to move around a lot as well, so he doesn’t see any point in investing towards a greater place to live. The high crime rate surrounding his apartment complex helps him blend in further.
How he keeps you there is with threats. You could, technically, escape at any time if you were smart enough. He does have locks on all the windows, burnt off the fire escape next to them as well, multiple locks on the front door, and fully proofed it of anything you could use to get out.
But the walls are thin, and you could scream for help. It’s a thought you’ve had many times, as you can always hear the neighbors surrounding you. But Dabi thought of that as well, coldly reminding you that he’s aware of where your friends and family live. That you just need to be a good girl for him, and nothing would ever happen to them. Simple, right?
As much as he hates it, he can’t always be with you. Most nights he’s away, working. This leaves you vulnerable, as he doesn’t trust anyone to guard you other than himself.
It was a cold night, and you were wrapping yourself up in blankets; cursing your inability to sleep. Dabi’s mattress wasn’t the most comfortable one, and it held unpleasant memories for you. So you were sitting in the living room, sipping on some tea he bought you for being good recently.
There’s an odd sound at the door, it almost sounds like fiddling. You don’t think much of it, once again, as Dabi might be coming home early. But you do pick up on the way the fiddling has been going on for a while now. Dabi had a key ring for all the locks, and it normally only took a minute or two for him to come in.
Maybe... he lost them? You can’t help but feel anxious, but wonder if he’s just trying to mess with you. That wouldn’t be unlike him, unfortunately. But the more concerned part of you wonders if it’s someone trying to break in. The sound of dogs barking, yelling, and sirens was common in this area, it didn’t take much to infer a break in would be possible.
Your quirk wasn’t the best for fighting, and Dabi had cut all the phone lines months ago. Your own breathing was growing more erratic, as you hide yourself in the bathroom. To your own dismay, there are no locks on any of the rooms inside -- Dabi doesn’t want you shutting yourself in, after all.
The duo clad in black attire and masks find you eventually, surprised at your appearance. They look at one another, almost in a way of saying “What should we do?”, their hands full of a few expensive items. You want to scream, but you’re worried of all the attention it’d attract. If any.
“A-are you okay?”
The one to the left kneels down, inspecting your shaking state. His eyes move to your neck, littered in bruises and bites. To your swollen lips, and glassy eyes. They begin to explain that they thought it was empty this time of night, and they had no intention of killing anyone. Just grabbing some stuff and running.
Dabi’s threat still looms over you like an ominous curse. You rapidly deny anything being wrong, but neither of them believe you. The man on the right was saying they should leave, taking what they had. But the one on the left said they couldn’t just leave you here.
“Please, I’m... I’m really okay. Just go, please.”
“You heard ‘em. I couldn’t have said it better myself.”
That voice. Fuck. That was definitely Dabi’s, and it was coming from behind them. They didn’t even get a chance to react, and neither did you. Blue flames erupt in front of you, the sudden surge of heat filling you with familiar dread.
Tears sting your eyes, as nothing but ashes remain of the both of them -- Dabi must not have cared about what they were holding. He walks into the bathroom, hands in his pocket, eyes glancing over at your huddled up form.
“You good, dollface?”
Tomura Shigaraki:
Tomura has a simple mindset when it comes to you. He doesn’t like anyone else being with you, seeing you, thinking about you, talking about you, breathing the same air as you. In his mind, only he had the right to these luxuries.
But damn, were you good at begging. For months, you’ve been constantly pestering him about the midnight release of a movie. It had been something you were looking forward to before he had, well, kidnapped you. He was insistent on going to see it alone, but you kept giving him those stupid puppy eyes. How long can he say no to that?
It takes a while to completely chip away at it, but eventually, he’ll relent to you coming along. On extremely strict conditions of course. You were not to talk to anyone, or look at anyone but him. If you tried to escape, there’d be consequences. Anyone who you went to for help would be killed. He made sure you understood this.
After a few (Was that sarcasm? Were you seriously repeating his rules back sarcastically? Boy are you cheeky)... reminders of the stipulations, Kurogiri had the two of you set out on your way. He had the tickets ready ahead of time, as to minimize interaction with others.
The movie had gone fine, you were enjoying yourself, and thanking Tomura for the night out. You were both going back to an alley where Kurogiri was supposed to warp you back, but ended up being a few minutes early.
Much to your misfortune, you happened upon two figures exchanging illegal items. Tomura could care less about it, but the two of them had definitely seen you. Animosity and threats were coming from the one receiving money, since you had seen something you shouldn’t have.
Tomura was still intent on ignoring them, not wanting to talk to lowlife scum. Right when he was going to tell you to turn around, the dealer revealed a sharp object that glinted in the moonlight. A knife, and he was pointing it at you.
Tomura’s eye twitches, and a desire to scratch at his neck appears. The audacity of this person to threaten you was too much for him. He wastes zero times, lunging towards them and decaying their entire body. The person next to them, who was about to scream, is killed as well.
You barely got to blink while all this happened, Tomura moving faster than your eyes could catch. Nothing but settling dust remained, as they were removed from the world.
“So annoying...”
Tomura huffs, his nails beginning to scratch at his neck. He looks up at you, grimacing. It’d take a while to convince him to let you out again, unfortunately. He doesn’t think much of it as he walks back over to your shocked form.
“What? Were you thinking I was going to play nice with them or something?”
His tone is almost mocking, as he sneers at your reaction. You never were a fan of violence, but surely you could understand this much, right?
Your nice outing had been ruined, as you can’t help the image of their bodies becoming nothing but dust replaying in your head. It filled you with anxiety that Tomura couldn’t understand. If anything, it irritated him. Shouldn’t you be praising him for protecting you?
If you ever tried bothering to explain that you thought the person without a knife was a victim, not a threat, it’d fall on deaf ears. He’d get extremely angry about it if you pressed on it for too long, so it’d just be best to not mention it again.
ANd I don’t know if it says something good or bad about him that even in this moment when he’s sitting in the goddamn snow, he doesn’t want to say anything bad about Yakumo. Is it foolish beat-dog devotion, or is it a sense of honor and an understanding that he did in fact fuck up? I lean toward beat-dog devotion, based on the relationship he had with his old Yakuza boss, though I admit that loses something in the poetry of the situation and one might want for more.
New here? Forgetful? Please read my spoiler policy before commenting!
