Mereoleona shows the runts a real fight.

“The name’s Magna,” the teenager introduces himself and gives back Talia’s weapon, “Magna Swing.”

Talia beams. “Your magic’s super cool, Magma!”

“It’s Magna!”  

If Magna wants Talia to remember his name, tough shit. It took Talia three years to learn how to say “Mereoleona”, and four to learn how to spell it. But it’s cute that Talia hypes up everyone’s magic, and with the way Magna’s puffing out his chest, Mereo doubts he cares that much about some stranger butchering his name. Fireballs are a dime a dozen, but Talia thinks every attribute under the sun is hot shit. And Magna’s done better than those dumb Orcas, so he’s earned the right to gloat a little. 

Mereo beckons Yuno over. “Runts, we’re going home.” 

Yuno gives the cat one last scratch under the chin. The cat lays a paw on Yuno’s knee like it’s saying goodbye, then hops off and slips through the flap of a door down the block. Of course Yuno won over someone’s house pet in the thirty seconds that Mereo’s been gone.

“The hell you are! What about our village?” Magna gestures to everything. “It’s totally wrecked!”

“Get back in your bunker.” Mereo mounts her broom, and the runts follow suit and hold on tight. “There’s going to be another scuffle.”

margo actually hating the prowler and thinking anyone with masks and weapons are terrible ppl just bc of how bad things are on earth-42

every time miles and his uncle show up on tv news channels she talks shit abt them not knowing she's talkin about her bf and his uncle

miles is oddly defensive every time, just sayin stuff like "margo you literally have never seen these two hurt civilians or anyone else but cops for that matter"

margo argues back "they obviously steal stuff and use bombs that could hurt someone tho. and nobody who's up to any good is swingin around wearing stuff like THAT"

miles rolls his eyes and pouts a lil bit about it but is genuinely distressed that his own gf can't see the good that the prowler does on a near daily basis so that pushes him to actually help more civvies whenever possible.

it kinda annoys aaron but he understands. eventually aaron lets him go off and do his own thing occasionally, stopping bank robbers from shooting unarmed bystanders and whatnot

the word spreads relatively quickly and soon prowler gains a "vigilante" label on the streets. a couple of his saves end up on the news, too

cue miles smirking at margo one day as they're sat in miles' living room with the tv on.

"...so. looks like prowler's moving different lately, just like i said he would. not lookin too bad there, is he?"

margo scoffs and shakes her head. "i mean... it's cool that he's saving ppl now i guess. doesnt mean hes a good guy exactly but we'll take what we can get!"

this definitely doesnt help miles' paranoia at all tho. he's even more adamant with his uncle that margo cannot know abt their prowler business now more than ever.

friendly reminder that L canonically falls on the overly fussy about cleanliness side of personal hygiene rather than the grubby side. He is probably a bit odd and/or lazy about some of the methods he uses to get clean (like the jokes in that one-shot where he has Watari change his shirt for him and bathes in a human washing machine thingy and owns a conveyer belt with a bunch of identical clothes), but not about BEING clean (he probably has certain habits like delicately holding things by his fingertips partially because he dislikes getting messy so much, and he often hires other people to do the truly dirty work for him as well)

Hi :) I read plastic man no more. Was okay. Hope it gets darker and more like. Pedantic in a good way lol. If there's one thing I DO hate about it tho it's this fixation on labeling it "noir" and "bodyhorror" as opposed to just letting the nature of the story define itself, you know? I get that that's more marketing's fault but I find the more forced a genre is the less interesting it gets, because then it just gets caught up trying to recreate stereotypes instead of doing something creative. Time will tell..!!!

Isaactor + Grief

He should be happy, by all means. The more he stays with Rosaly, the more he understands about himself, about his life, what he had been missing, what he wanted.

But the void in his chest did not fill. Rosaly isn’t perfect.

Her laughter is but a whisper, it does not come deep from her chest. Her smile is reserved, but it does not brighten the room. She has never lifted a sword in her life – let alone a giant spear – leaving Hector to spar with young Ted, full of potential but not as quick, not as powerful, not as talented as his old adversary. She has nothing but kind words for him, that wash over him like cool water over a burn, but she lacks the cutting, audacious wit that made him double over in laughter even in the sourest of moods. She doesn’t share his knowledge of how to forge a new creature from nothing, he can’t share ideas with her in the middle of the night, sacrificing precious sleep for excitement and jokes. He can’t challenge her to a race on the shoulders of a monster of their own creation. He doesn’t know her well enough to tease her, to tickle her sore spots – perhaps she doesn’t have any, and he doesn’t know what to do in such a case: Isaac was aggravating, he was maddening, he was too much, and yet that only ignited Hector’s competitive spirit in being as much as him, which is left now unchallenged and frustrated.

Rosaly feels like a porcelain doll in his hands, delicate enough that Hector is afraid of cracking her at the slightest pressure; Isaac was strong and solid and sharp and he wanted him to let go, to burn, to hurt, to feel, and Hector would do all of that without restraint, because he was never enough for Isaac, and he could handle anything Isaac would give him, he would have done anything for him, to feel whole.

Rosaly makes him feel loved. Isaac made him feel alive.

And when Hector left Isaac to die, part of him died as well.

He lies in fragments on the damp soil of the forest, dragging himself to find his missing pieces: Isaac and his laughter and his jokes and his work and the fights with him and his kisses and all the secret words they shared on the same bed and all the bile he spat and the chance for Hector to tell him how much he hurt him and the chance for Hector to tell him that he forgave him…

So much that made who Hector was, and he had no idea.

Rosaly hopes to rebuild him, but how could she, when he is but half of the man he is supposed to be?
