11 for (You Can't Be A) Servant of Two Masters? 😊

OH!!! OKAY, OKAY, I CAN DO THIS!!!

So: 11. What do you like best about this fic?

Okay! So, my favorite thing about this fic is probably the way the characters made the story their own. Like... I was just writing, and they'd decide to do something themselves. As an example, the big one that jumps out at me is Zhongli deciding to ask Ajax if he could mark him with his sigil at the end of chapter one. And the way they've decided to just... Be so affectionate???

But! But as, like, a more PLANNED thing, I'm really proud of the way I wrote and balanced the difference aspects of both their personalities, particularly in the first chapter/that fight. The way Tartaglia and Childe and Ajax are all wanting/thinking/feeling different things and fighting each other as much as he's fighting Rex Lapis - who's ALSO feeling different things than the Morax and Zhongli aspects of himself!!!

Off the top of my head, I think those are what I'm gonna say. Well, that and the way the universe is so open to more ideas and moving forward??? Like, for such a minor change at first (Childe figures out that Zhongli is Rex Lapis), the changes QUICKLY spiral out to the point that, in "A Dragon's Treasure (The First Contract)" the whole Fontaine Story Quest has to change! Like... There's so many opportunities and I can't wait to play with some of them (I have more written that I'm just not sure how to get there from where the previous chapter left off, and it includes some new POV's that I'm really excited about, and I'm looking forward to writing/seeing the conversation(s) with the Adepti...) It's just exciting, even if I haven't actually written anything for it in a while. (This and Lantern Rite makes me kinda want to though!!!)

"Album of 30 specimens of seaweed, compiled by an unidentified collector, presumably British. The sheets of specimens are gathered together within the two parts of white scallop shell, which, with green silk ribbon, has been rendered as a binding, the natural hinge of the shell serving as the spine of the volume. The sheets bearing the seaweed specimens are cut to match the outline of the shell. The scientific name (genus and species) is noted for each seaweed specimen, in black ink."

Joseph Mallord William Turner

“For Turner, colour was never an autonomous phenomenon or an aesthetic end in itself; he used it to establish ephemeral effects, which allowed him to leave traditional depiction behind. This was highly radical. He was convinced that his paintings were of great relevance to the world, and I have for many years been inspired by the sense of confidence communicated through his work and the idea that the ephemeral could carry meaning into society.” – Olafur Eliasson, Tate 2014

Joseph Mallord William Turner was the outstanding British painter of his generation. He challenged the conventions of the time, with new techniques and subject matter. Turner often shocked his contemporaries with his loose brushwork and vibrant colour palette. His work often portrays the development of the modern world.

In ‘The Lungernsee by Moonlight,’ as in other works from his Swiss series, Turner deals heavily in contrast, using mustard yellows and earthy greens against mauve and ultramarine shadows to trace the path of reflected light from the waxing crescent moon. All of this is soothed by the sea-green reflections in the lake’s luminous waters. His technique of building up colour over layers of translucent washes and flecks of paint help refine this subtle evocation of twilight, making it feel at once tranquil and energetic. 

Turner had a lifelong fascination with the sea. His depiction of the sea is everchanging, like the sea itself. Sometimes his paintings delight in its calmer face, revelling in tranquil surfaces reflective of golden sunlight. But he was also fascinated by the sea’s potential as a destructive force: his canvases include terrifying waves, storms and shipwrecks.

"In 2008, intrigued by the factoid that #icecream was first served at court to Charles II during the 1671 annual dinner of the 'Royal Order of the Garter,' I conceived the 'Royal Order of the Cone' and have since drawn thousands of doodles positing the notional idea of 'Garter Brand Ice Cream,' its regalia, accoutrements, and flavors. Recent paintings have abandoned such specifics and riffed the classic geometries of the cone, sphere, and squiggle into abstract use." . "Sir Robert Dudley preceded the 'Royal Order of the Cone' by nearly a century so would not have attended that not famous dinner. But, as a Garter Knight, he wore the regalia bestowed upon the order that has inspired my habit. His raspberry red glazes are delicious." .
