YELLOW VEIL PICTURES announces world sales SHE LOVED BLOSSOMS MORE, surrealistic sci fi from director YANNIS VESLEMES.
Yellow Veil Pictures announces world sales today ahead of the Tribeca Film Festival world premiere of Yannis Veslemes’ sophomore feature and surrealistic science-fiction drama, SHE LOVED BLOSSOMS MORE. Written by Veslemes and Dimitris Emmanouilidis, the film will be positioned in the ‘Escape From Tribeca’ section of the festival, a genre specific sidebar of stand out titles with auteur-forward storytelling. Veslemes first earned acclaim with his 2014 breakout NORWAY, which debuted at Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. The film stars Panos Papadopoulos, Julio Giorgos Katsis, Aris Balis, Sandra Abuelghanam Sarafanova, Alexia Kaltsiki & Dominique Pinon (Delicatessen, Alien 4) and was shot by cinematographer Christos Karamanis (Monday, Suntan) and edited by Yorgos Mavropsaridis (Poor Things, Dogtooth).
Tumblr media
The film is produced by Fenia Cossovitsa, alongside executive producers Christos V. Konstantakopoulos (The Lobster, Attenberg, Before Midnight), Ant Timpson (Greasy Strangler, Come to Daddy), Andreas Zoupanos Kritikos (Before Midnight) with co-producer Alexis Perrin (Vesper, Revenge). The film is supported by the Greek Film Centre, ERT (Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation) and EKOME (National Centre of Audiovisual Media and Communication)
In SHE LOVED BLOSSOMS MORE, three brothers build an unusual time-machine in order to bring their long-dead mother back to life. When their delusional father comes into the picture, the experiments go awry, and they descend into a psychedelic hellscape where the past and present fuse in a comedic yet deeply disturbing exploration of grief.
Director, Yannis Veslemes said, “SHE LOVED BLOSSOMS MORE is a family drama in science fiction disguise. A ballad for the defeated, a comedy for the accursed, a moral tale for us all and our beloved families.”
Hugues Barbier of Yellow Veil Pictures added, “SHE LOVED BLOSSOMS MORE is the first film we've onboarded at script stage, and it's been quite amazing to see it come alive. We couldn't be more proud of Yannis' vision and the amazing team he has around him. Blossoms is an emotional thrill ride and a calling card for one of the most exciting new filmmakers.”

Norway (2014) - Dir. Yannis Veslemes
Watched this over the weekend and I'm obsessed. A Greek vampire in '84 hangs around a disco and pretty much just vibes. It's like Harry Du Bois was a vampire (and greek). Good soundtrack too

SXSW: Midnighters Lineup, World Premieres Announced
It was announced last week that John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place will be opening up the 25th South by Southwest Film Festival on March 9th in Austin, Texas. Beyond this opening horror film, however, there was very little genre film representation in the festival lineup. That all changed as the organizers just announced their annual Midnighters lineup. If their goal was to fill me with enough jealous rage to start my own purge, then they definitely succeeded.
The SXSW Midnighters are a celebration of the best in genre cinema. Year after year, this lineup if filled with horrifying and disturbing films that are almost always guaranteed to take the community by storm in the following year. Jarod Neece, SXSW’s Senior Film Programmer, said this about the Midnighters Program:
It is the highlight of my year to get to dive into the yearly pool of genre film submission and see what wild and devilish ideas these filmmakers have brought to life. This year’s Midnighters, made both by veteran filmmakers and many first-timers, are sure to delight and terrify lucky SXSW audiences.
Of the ten films included in the Midnighters lineup, six of them are World Premieres and another three are celebrating their North American Premiere. The lone non-premiere, not to be outdone, is the horror film that set the entire world on fire after Sundance. SO, without further ado, here are the films included in this year’s Midnighters program:
  Ajin: Demi-Human (World Premiere)
youtube
Endless battle between human being and immortal demi-human “Ajin”. A stunning, strikingly original action masterpiece! Directed by: Katsuyuki Motohiro. Written by: Kouji Seko. Cast: Takeru Satoh, Go Ayano, Tetsuji Tamayama, Yu Shirota, Yudai Chiba, Rina Kawaei, Minami Hamabe.
  Blood Fest (World Premiere)
In Blood Fest, fans flock to a festival celebrating the most iconic horror movies, only to discover that the charismatic showman behind the event has a diabolical agenda. Written and Directed by: Owen Egerton. Cast: Robbie Kay, Jacob Batalon, Seychelle Gabriel, Tate Donovan, Barbara Dunkelman, Nick Rutherford, Zachary Levi.
  Untitled Blumhouse-Bazelevs (World Premiere)
A 20-something finds a cache of hidden files on his new laptop and is thrust into the deep waters of the dark web.
