First, the specs, unpacking

Xiaomi 12 flagship trio is finally on the global stage, and we're excited to see all three Xiaomi 12 models in the office. Now that you've seen the Xiaomi 12 Pro and Xiaomi 12, get ready for a detailed inspection of your Xiaomi 12X. It's like the light version of the Xiaomi 12, but it's a high-performance model that's only lightweight.

Indeed, the Xiaomi 12X is an incredibly compact and lightweight smartphone, the feast of the 2022 eyes (and hands). We're always fans of this form factor and never miss the opportunity to put a decent sized phone in your hand or pocket. Obviously, the 12X is the same as the Xiaomi 12 in all respects except the chipset. This means they are the same size, weight and color. Think of it as a trio of redundant phones, the Xiaomi 12 packs the most powerful hardware underneath a small body and 1080p display. And let's face it, it's overkill, and worse, throttle. It's like putting a Ferrari engine in a beetle. And its low price make Xiaomi 12X a more attractive phone to explore. It features a rugged chipset, premium display, state-of-the-art photo features, and fast charging.

Well, of course, I'm excited about the Xiaomi 12X, so let's get started with the business. Like the Xiaomi 12, the Xiaomi 12X offers a 6.28-inch AMOLED screen with full HD resolution, 120Hz dynamic refresh rate, 480Hz touch response, HDR10 + and Dolby Vision support, and Gorilla Glass Victus protection. This is the first panel of mobile phones with native 12-bit color support for all pixels, enabling display of over 68 billion colors (see the number)! This is the only way to truly appreciate Dolby Vision. Next is the Snapdragon 870 5G. It has proven to be one of the most desirable flagship chipsets due to its high quality performance and excellent battery efficiency. The setup of the triple camera on the back of the is the same as the Xiaomi 12. Equipped with 50MP OIS primary, 13MP ultra wide, 5MP telephoto camera and AF, you can get a proper close-up. 8K video recording is available along with many other recording modes. A 32 megapixel sensor is used in the front camera.The Xiaomi 12X offers a Harman Kardon stereo speaker setup that supports Dolby Atmos. It complements the Dolby Vision display. There is one obvious omission, which is the degree of protection. Xiaomi has not given an official rating of Xiaomi 12X or 12, but you can be sure that the phone is drip-proof. This is by no means a real water protection, but the 12X isn't completely exposed to the elements either. The lack of a zoom camera, or at least a lossless zoom, is a bit confusing given the 12X's ability to process and crop high-resolution photos on the go. Despite these question marks, the Xiaomi 12X looks like one of the most attractive smartphones in the world due to its excellent balance of high-end features, performance and price. But having the best camera phone does not automatically means you can take the best photos. What smartphone cameras lack compared to its DSLR counterparts can be made up with these essential accessories to remove some of the limitations allowing it to taken even better photos.

1. Lenses

DSLRs and Mirrorless cameras are not the only ones having all the fun with interchangeable lenses and filters. You can do the same with smartphones too. The problem with smartphone lenses are that they have fixed zoom. While you may get a second telephoto lens or a wide angle lens in a dual camera setup, for optical zoom or wide angle view, these lenses are just that, as it comes with the phone.

With add-on lenses, ones that go over your existing lens, you can take advantage of fisheye, super-wide angle or macro shots beyond your standard point and shoot. Some add-ons even offer interchangeable lens system that lets you swap lenses quickly. The trick is to choose the snap-on or clip-on lenses that work with your phone and for the kind of photography you wish to do.

Most of these lens are even designed for work on the front facing or selfie camera. What you need to watch out for is how these lenses will cope if you have a case on your phone. Most slip-on or snap-on lenses are designed to work on the phone only, so you may need to ditch your case. Other are designed to work with third party cases or a compatible phone case is offered as an option.

While you can buy just about any clip-on lenses for any smartphone at reasonably low prices, the ones that are designed specifically to work with a certain model are those that will offer the best quality. Olloclip has lens kits designed specifically for iPhone 7, 8 and iPhone X with a wide range of functions but it will only work with their own phone cases which are optional.

2. Lights

While most smartphones promises low light performance with bigger aperture, nothing beats an extra light source to reduce noise and grain in your photos while ensuring better detail and contrast. Relying on the onboard LED flash alone for low light shots and videos can only mean one thing, an over exposed portrait shot or hardly enough light for a group photo.

A constant light source is what you need and if you do not have a 3 point studio lighting kit handy, one of these portable LED light source is going to be better than your standard LED flash. 3. Tripods

Table top tripods are the cheapest, lightest and smallest tripods to have that lets you stand your phone on any flat surface and take completely steady shots so you never have to worry about blurry images. 5. Storage

When you go away for a long trip or intent to take lots of photos and videos on your smartphone, it pays to have backup on the move and a way to add more storage to your phone. For most Android smartphones, it is as simple as adding a MicroSD storage card to a a microSD card slot or free SIM slots that doubles as a storage expansion slot. What else is there to back up my photos on the move

The other option is to invest in a mobile hard drive or portable wireless hard drive.
