I think the Runaways comic members are so funny because they vary from a normal but smart guy who turned out to be a traitor, to a lesbian alien, to a preteen girl, who can lift a monster the size of a building and then fall asleep, to a girl who dies and comes back two years later, to a regular dude, to a cyborg destined to be a villain, to a genderfluid alien child of skrull warlords, to a bisexual goth witch who's the main leader, to another preteen girl who can control plants they brought back with them from the time they time travelled to 1907, to a dinosaur, to a telepath cat, to the son of a bunch of giant gods that wanted to destroy humanity, and a Doctor Doom robot. They became more chill after a few of the members became legal adults and a few of them were in other teams but as teens their first instinct when seeing other heroes (mostly adults) coming at them, like Wolverine, Spider-Man, the Young Avengers or The Punisher, was punching them, throwing fireballs at them or yeeting a car at them. Their only requirements to join the group was basically disliking adults and authority figures and having horrible parents, and that one almost got them killed once because they let a vampire in thinking it was a kid with bad parents and he nearly killed them. They're a family and they're incredibly random and messy. And I miss those idiots every day lmao. Bring them back, make another run idk

I think my tastes are basic, but I just wanted to spit this out.

For anyone who doesn't know Runaways currently has a short (?) run going on over in Marvel's Voices Infinity Comic. It picks up right where the comic ended and is following Karolina, Xavin and the Light Brigad as they try to get Karolina a healer and restore her powers. It's a nice little story so far and it's funny watching Karolina swing the Staff of One around.

I just answered a couple questions in the comments on this post, and I figured I should give a quick update for any Young Avengers / Runaways fans that aren't on Marvel Unlimited. Karolina and Xavin are main characters on the current run of the Marvel's Voices webseries on Unlimited.

Towards the end of Runaways (2017), Karolina suffered injuries that left her in poor health, and was unable to use her natural light abilities.

She reached out the the Light Brigade, who agreed to bring her to a Majesdanian healer named Vadrayk. Nico gave Karolina the Staff of One and requested that Karolina abandon it in outer space.

As you may recall, the planet Majesdane was destroyed by the former Skrull Empire, and Karolina's people, the Majesdanians, are now interstellar refugees.

Xavin, formerly a political prisoner, is currently the leader of the Light Brigade.

Teddy, as the ruler of the newly-formed Kree-Skrull Alliance, has promised to help Xavin and the Brigade find a new home for the Majesdanians.

Goebig, a friend of Teddy's who is currently heading relief efforts for the refugees of planet Havaya, joined the Light Brigade in the hopes that they could find a home for both the Majesdanian and Havayan peoples, together. Ambris, a runaway from the planet Ohtli, has also joined the Brigade-- both of these characters debuted in earlier runs of the Voices webseries.

The Majesdanian refugees were sheltering on a remote planet where they were attacked by giant ant monsters, and Vadrayk disappeared in the chaos. Karolina and the Brigade are currently on a search and rescue mission, with Karolina using the Staff as a weapon until she can recover her powers. For some reason she's wearing a version of her wedding outfit from Runaways.

I really don't get whenever people say that in the 2017 Runaways run Nico having feelings for Karolina came out of nowhere when this was her in the previous run lmao

Yeah, Nico keeping Karolina's bracelet and clothes (and missing Karolina so much she confused Gert with her once) saying that Karolina leaving hurt her more than her parents' or Alex's deaths and that without her she felt a hole inside her was totally not a hint at her realizing that maybe deeper feelings than just friendship. Her being disappointed that Karolina was still with Xavin when she returned had no deeper meaning, either. Nico and Xavin constantly arguing was just because they both had dominant personalities, yeah, it wasn't also because deep down Nico was clearly jealous and bitter because she did feel something for Karolina and because Xavin was precisely suspicious of that and knew that Karolina still felt something for Nico too. Nico always feeling comforted by Karolina and dropping to the ground crying after Karolina told her that Xavin could give her something she couldn't was totally platonic heterosexual behaviour as well. Nico and Karolina openly flirting and Nico getting flustered when she admitted Karolina was the best kisser was also peak heterosexuality from her part. It all really came out of nowhere.

Besties this was always coming from a mile away lmao.

To this day I still wonder when the fuck did they kiss before they got together though lmao
