Potential hatchlings from Xantoria and Caperata. Seems to be pretty equal chances of ripple vs giraffe, more striation than breakup, and much more likely to be shardflank than scorpion. Primary and tertiary ranges of a very limited set of greys, while secondary range runs from greens through goldtones, oranges, browns, and into reds.

Comments: Purchased as a mate for Caperata; I was looking for a female as close to flint primary and slate tertiary as I could find, who also had a nice wide secondary range vs his pistachio, and she was it. I decided she was a great opportunity to use one of the genes newly available for gaolers; love how ripple looks on her.

Like him, she’s named after a lichen, though in this case I settled for the genus rather than going with the specific species (Xantoria elegans, a red variety) because I liked it more as a name.

Comments: Saw this guy on a sales post on Tumblr, and loved how he looked so much I immediately had to go and check a) if he was still available, and b) if I could find a suitable mate for him. Obviously the answer to both was yes :)

His colours made me think of lichen on bark or stone, so I’ve ended up naming him after a pale-green variety of same. I was initially tempted to go for one of the many types of Old Man’s Beard (because hairy-looking), but in the end went with Common Greenshield  (Flavoparmelia caperata).
