Zeit und Vergänglichkeit in der Fotografie

The Moment is Eternity lenkt mit rund 300 ausgestellten Werken und Objekten von rund 60 Künstlern und Künstlerinnen das Augenmerk auf die fotografischen Arbeiten der Olbricht Collection. Sie zeigt diese im Dialog mit anderen Kunstwerken der Sammlung sowie Artefakten der Wunderkammer. Zu sehen ist die Ausstellung im Rahmen der Berlin Art Week 2018 und des EMOP Berlin – European Month of Photography vom 26. September 2018 bis zum 1. April 2019 im me Collectors Room in Berlin.

ZOO MOCKBA at Me collectors rooms Berlin

Within the same gallery (Me collectors rooms) we move from the cabinet of curiosities to an exhibit called Zoo Mockba a large collection of hollow plastic toys made within the post war depressions of the 1950s to the 1980s in the Soviet Union these colorful creations have a surreal playful style of their own. They were designed by artists fromLeningrad Art Academy where they were given more creative freedom than in other state- controlled areas of art. Created for the masses, this striking juxtaposition from the highly valuable object of the elite in the Wunderkammer Olbricht esibit to the mass produced Soviet toys felt striking and relevant.

Very touched by the opening of EVA&ADELE's show "L'amour du risque " at Me Collectors Room tonight. The title of this wonderful show comes from the filming of my portrait of EVA&ADELE for Arte Metropolis in 2016. We were in a cab, and the camerawoman Ursula Wernly didn't close her seatbelt. The cab driver reminded her about the risks, "C'est l'amour du risque, Monsieur " she replied. And that sticked with all of us, and became the title of the show... Because here is so much love, and incredible risks in their art. Noch nie zuvor (zumindest nicht in der Lebensspanne der meisten von uns) war die Fragilität des Lebens und unser aller Sterblichkeit so sehr zu einer kollektiven Erfahrung geworden wie im vergangenen Jahr. Me collectors room Berlin, a glamourous modern gallery of art, photography, taxidermy, strange relics and curiosities.

The Wunderkammer Olbricht is a permanent collection of high- quality objects from the late Renaissance and baroque periods. Once a collection reserved for the eyes of the select few. collections like this were initially  assembled to portray the wealth and power of the owner, now an excusable feast for the eyes of all, there is a vast array of rare and exotic materials used in the different pieces, with a supernatural and scientific feel to the whole exhibit, which has an underlying emphasis on death, we are encouraged to think about or own mortality and linking it to our own make-believe stories pondered over in are heads, what happens when we die?
