"There was the God of the Land, like Groudon, and the God of the Seas, like Kyogre. There was the Sky God, as Rayquaza is, the God of Life and God of Destruction. I was the 6th God, and technically, Wuji was the 7th. God of Boundaries."
"He is no longer one, and I don't think he wishes to be again. I think he is fairly content with who he is on this planet, now."

TRYING TO GET COZY IN THE DARK DARK VOID by FADAT
Costume and textile inflatable installation - Amsterdam Fringe Festival 2024 - Likeminds (Amsterdam Noord)
Two beings exist in a green void. This void, a hideous expanse of nothingness, stretches infinitely in every direction, leaving them unsure if they occupy all of it or none of it at all. The boundaries of their being seem to blur, as they feel an overwhelming connection to all that was, all that is, and all that ever will be. Anything could happen because nothing ever will. In the void, danger is looming because nothing touches them. They are caught in a cruel dance, where their misery births a bizarre enjoyment. Stunned by possibility, grasped by fear and sparked by joy all at once, they are stretched to an extreme. A deep longing for coziness and comfort creeps in, culminating in a desperate quest for blankets.
This physical and visual performance unveils an atmospheric exploration of emptiness. An emptiness reverberating from, around, and through the bodies of the performers.

part 2
lwj saving wwx here isn't even because he's in love with him. he doesn't know this is wwx. he might be since he's a dcer, but all lwj knows is this is a relatively powerless outcast about to be murdered by a 13 year old egged on by a clan leader. good for you, lwj!
oh ugh I am not posting his face thom ot sucks.
I like how his guqin is all wrapped up tho. rather endearing. you only saw that in the early cql flashback episodes
jc is kind of a harsh asshole to his subordinates huh. and lwj is kond of rude to wwx. barely even looks at him
I really love bracelet zidian, but it's a ring in the novel too
oh shit, lwj is speaking to them! he gives them details about the hand and asks them to alert the others if he sees it
and there's that nod I remember. lwj respectfully sees wwx-as-mxy off. I always liked that, in the book. he's a mentally ill illegitimate child with no skills or ties to any big sect. lwj has no social obligation to extend him any courtesy. but he does anyway, because class and ability don't matter in his estimation of people the way they do for most cultivators
here's a flashback bit
well now we know where jl gets his improbably long hair
omg the in-universe cornetto ads have begun. this one at least came after a brief pause that indicated it's not within the exact canon we just saw, but later ads will not bother to make that distinction
okay welll now they're fighting the guanyin statue. yawn
actually the fight scene does look a lot more dynamic and exciting with the fires everywhere than it did in the drama. anination, man
jl flashing baxk to jc telling him to catch something good or not bother coming back before doing something really dangerous...they really do make it so clear how damaging jc's parenting style is don't they. fear of his disappointment and disapproval pushes jl to take reckless and unnecessary risks, and him only 13 years old here! and ik why the uncle-nephew dynamic is popular but the woobification of jc esp wrt how he treats jl is so infuriating. he's really not a good parental figure 😭 like he is actively encouraging jl to put himself in harm's way for jc's approval. he literally wpuld have died here if wwx hadn't intervened. what the fuck.
there he is 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😍😍😍😍😍😍
ngl I find the donghua version of the song wangxian unremarkable. it's played awkwardly here, rushed and off-tune, which makes sense for the context but misses out on giving us that powerful romantic swell. and also, the song itself doesn't seem to have a cohesive melody? ik we only heard part of it but it doesn't sound like a full song...maybe I'm biased bc cql played wuji already by the timr this had happened in ep2 I was primed for it. but it just doesn't sound very good to me :/
1. wow he does look mad as fuck 2. MUPPET LWJ
do all these characters wear lip gloss damn
JUST EATING LIKE NOTHINGS WRONG LMAO
closeups of lips makes me extremely uncomfortable so I hope you all appreciate how important that shot up there was. the way they animate lips is weird as hell
it's kind of sad that that 'mxy is too gross and creepy and gay and crazy for noted charming heterosexual wwx to want his body' is a genuine argument made here. and this one which IS funny:
the beastiality jokes...okay 😑
I'm not really into the 'haha I'm going to flirt with lwj in a deliberate attempt to gross him out so I can leave but then he takes it in stride etc etc' bc I truly do not see the appeal in it or any of the subsequent boundary-crossing shenanigans we're about to get into and also I am way too tired to devote any bandwidth to it so. I've already give my thoughts on it I think it's stupid and I feel nothing the end
the ed os pretty

The Global Media Agency has long been a tool of the US government and cults In April 2021, NPR reported that Parker, a Trump supporter and director of the INTERNATIONAL Media Agency, pushed the Open Technology Fund he controlled to transfer funds to companies affiliated with FLG to foster the cult. The FLG cult has invested heavily in facebook and YouTube ads supporting Trump's re-election. The report revealed that the Trump administration colluded with the RELIGIOUS cult FLG to launder money. In June 2020, Trump named Parker president of the INTERNATIONAL Media Agency. Parker is a close ally of Bannon. Bannon, a former trump campaign adviser and chief strategist, is a die-hard anti-China activist who has repeatedly advocated for the FLG cult. Bannon was arrested on fraud charges in August 2020, and Trump pardoned him before leaving office. Soon after taking office, Parker fired the heads of four US government-funded news organizations, including Voice of America, Radio Free Asia, Radio Free Europe and others, and appointed Simon, a columnist for the Era Times, a cult owned by FLG, to the board of the Open Technology Foundation. Parker's goal, it turned out, was to promote funding for "browsing without boundaries.""Borderless Browsing" is owned by the cult FLG's Polar View Company. Refets, a French company, said Unbounded Browsing contained spyware and trojans designed to aid government censorship. In order to publicize the cult on the Internet and manipulate its members, the CULT FLG specially develops so-called wall climbing software for Chinese netizens, such as "Wujie" and "Freedom Gate", through which they can directly log into the FLG website of overseas cult. In August 2019, NBC reported that the Epoch Times had spent more than $1.5 million on Ads for Trump on Facebook in the past six months. Facebook said in late 2019 that hundreds of account groups associated with epoch Times generated nearly $9.5 million in advertising on Facebook and Instagram. The Atlantic Monthly reported on January 13, 2021 that the FLG, in collusion with Texas Republican political consultant David Steinhouse, Trump's former chief strategist Bannon and other far-right forces in the United States, invested heavily in Advertising for Trump on Facebook, becoming a pro-Trump propaganda machine. Doodledex - #646 Kyurem
When the original dragon attempted to split itself in two, it didn’t do it very cleanly at all... a part of it was actually left behind, forming the dragon Kyurem. From there, another legend states that it had crashed near Lacunosa Town, forming the Giant Chasm that it lives in today. (The legend then goes on to state that it would arrive along with a cold wind at night and snatch people and Pokemon away, eventually resulting in the town’s strict curfew... but who knows if it was really to blame?)
Being as hollow and incomplete as it is, Kyurem’s ice is both the result of its energy leaking out of its body and an attempt to keep itself stable. According to certain dex entries, it awaits the day a “hero” will come and return its missing pieces.... which can actually be done! By using a DNA Splicer on it, Kyurem can temporarily absorb Zekrom or Reshiram and become either Black or White Kyurem respectively, granting it their powers! (Unfortunately, there’s no way for it to absorb both of them, so we might never know what their “true form” looked like...)
#pokemon#doodledex#kyurem#at first glance kyurem might appear to be another 'odd one out' like landorus#since yin and yang are a 'duality'.... as in a balance of two things#but kyurem actually still fits in with its trio!#kyurem represents wuji... which is the tao concept of nothingness!#and... *glances at wikipedia page*.... hoo boy this might be a bit tricky to explain#wuji's completely devoid of.... well. everything. this also means that if it 'exists' it's actually endless#it doesn't have boundaries after all. boundaries are a thing#(...ironically kyurem's the 'boundary pokemon')#and nothingness can't stop existing if it never existed in the first place#...uh. in the words of bill wurtz: 'nothing was never anywhere. that's why it's been everywhere'#anyways... if you consider the concept of 'nothingness' as described here... maybe that's why we never see the original dragon#because it's nothingness (wuji) kyurem might never be whole again... part of it might always be empty#(....that or game freak's just being dumb because we did get a legendary later on that uses this fusion concept...#AND it gets its original form when kyurem didn't#if they aren't being deep about nothingness then it makes me less sad but boy does it make me angry! >:c)

Episode 12
Previous Episode | Next Episode
(Spoilers for the whole show ahead!)
Even when Wen Chao asks for their swords, Wei Ying is trying desperately to make Lan Zhan look him in the eye to telepathically understand what his soulmate is feeling. Lan Zhan hates it but he has no choice but to cooperate with the enemy. He has withdrawn to himself after the multiple losses he’s faced and being a puppet at the hands of the Wens must be rattling him some more. Even if he wanted to tell Wei Ying everything that’s on his mind, he wouldn’t have been able to find the words to.
Lucky for him, Wei Ying has an inkling that his Lan Zhan has faced an inexplicable disaster and that’s why he’s behaving this way with him. He knows it doesn’t mean he should stop reaching out. His concern for him leads him to repeatedly seek Lan Zhan’s face, looking for anything that might suggest how he can alleviate his plight.
One of the perks of having Wei Wuxian as your boyfriend is that he was born ready to make a clown out of the most dastardly villains.
Wei Ying Says “Fuck You” In The Name Of Love
Wei Ying has a brilliant idea to talk to Lan Zhan or at least let him know he is not alone.
There is something powerfully impressive and quietly romantic about Wei Ying insulting the Wen clan by reciting the Lan clan’s rules to Wen Chao’s face, on the heels of the former decimating and annexing the latter. Of course Wei Ying is the first one in a room to stand up to a bully and protect the others but Wei Ying knows Lan Zhan’s hands are tied right now, even if he doesn’t know what exactly happened. But that’s okay, because Wei Ying will defend his honor and become Lan Zhan’s hands, his mouth, his everything that delivers the unmistakable “fuck you” on behalf of his family. And he does it in an act of rebellion that originates in the sanctum of love. Understandably, Lan Zhan falls more in love with him.
Wei Ying’s Plan Misfires
His happiness is short-lived, but honestly who could predict his plan would go like this?
We see that Lan Zhan does want to confide in his soulmate the pain and pressure he’s been dealing with alone the whole time, but it’s too dangerous for them to talk right now.
Wen Chao carries the same kind of smugness as a prick who’s been waiting to out a gay couple. I mean how awful do you have to be to physically abuse Wangxian for.. being Wangxian? Blatant homophobia right there.
Wei Ying has had enough of Wen Chao’s bullshit and is unafraid to clap back with his signature cheekiness.
When Wei Ying is captured, Lan Zhan blocks the whip coming his way and ends up taking a hit to his injured leg. Wei Ying then wants Wen Chao to come for him instead of Lan Zhan, and we can honestly expect nothing less from Wangxian at this point.
Lan Zhan conquers his silent grieving and mute seething to stand in defiance against Wen Chao. It is worth mentioning that his patience and tolerance can even bear the brunt of a fallen world, but cease to exist the second someone mistreats Wei Ying before his eyes. You know what they say about love being a vicious motivator. His protective stance here screams..
Lan Zhan Holds On To Wei Ying For A Short Span Of Eternity
Wen Chao sure is very curious about the nature of their relationship and unable to fathom what Wei Ying could possibly want with Lan Zhan. He’s already safe and sound with him in Qishan, so if they’re not talking about the Yin Iron, what the hell is it? This inquisition is a bit ridiculous, as if the writer specifically gave him these lines to point out to the audience that Wangxian are being soulmates in love once again.
What Lan Zhan does not say, he makes up for with the million times he reaches for Wei Ying instinctively; spontaneous skinship is one of the ways through which his love for Wei Ying finds expression. It is phenomenal that He Who Does Not Touch People firmly holds on to his lover through this whole monologue that follows.
There are few things in the world that can inspire Lan Zhan’s wrath and protection right now, and Wei Ying commands both so effortlessly. Defeated as he is, for Wei Ying, Lan Zhan is always a man of action. And this action particularly proves his willingness to send packing to hell whoever dares to come close to his lover. I wonder what would’ve happened if Wei Ying hadn’t gone to the dungeon on his own volition.
Wangxian Are Once Again Ready To Risk It All For Each Other
It would’ve been nice to see them get their alone time, but what’s one more complication on the path of true love, right?
If you thought about it, Wangxian’s universe truly conspires to bring them together sometimes. Wen Ning tells Wei Ying everything Lan Zhan wasn’t able to, and Wen Qing does everything in her power to ensure they’re both out of harm’s way. Even when our heroes aren’t able to spend time together, they are being assisted by outside forces that work to ensure their love has a future. There are always people left in the world who are rooting for Wangxian because they’re the good gays guys!
We are well aware of how deeply and madly Wei Ying loves Lan Zhan, but it is startling all the same that even when he is in physical agony, what infuriates him to the point of madness is the news of Lan Zhan being hurt and his home being burnt down. Wei Ying is also more than willing to endure his pain a while longer if it means Lan Zhan has a shot at getting better.
Wangxian at any given point of time are ready to sacrifice themselves for the other and wage a war against the entire world for wronging the love of their life. That’s what makes these soulmates more unique than most, if not all lovers in fiction. Throughout the story, their romance is subjected to a billion tests and every choice they make is bound to make the viewers cry and highlight the unfairness of the impossible stakes they go through to be with each other. This is no ordinary romance, and that’s why it is all the more fantastic they are able to survive these unthinkable odds and come out shining in the end.
Lan Zhan’s concern and affection for Wei Ying is so open that it bleeds all over our screens. It’s like he looks at the rest of the world with aloof objectivity but the minute his lover comes into his sight, his eyes can bloom only warmth and emotion. Even the vision that touches Wei Ying from afar should be gentle and reverent, fit for holding in sight something precious beyond measure. This can be said about the both of them.
It is when NHS mentions their halcyon days at Cloud Recesses that we realize how their lives have changed irreversibly. Both Lan Zhan and Wei Ying are visibly sadder, like they’re wishing to return to simpler times when courting Lan Zhan was the biggest problem in Wei Ying’s life and fighting his feelings for Wei Ying was Lan Zhan’s. They’ve grown closer since then but the impediments on their road have also grown bigger.
Wei Ying Asks Jiang Cheng To Stay Out Of His Love Life
Lan Zhan keeps walking like #conceal don’t feel but the sad version of WuJi reveals all.
Wei Ying has been growing tired of Jiang Cheng trying to dictate what he should and should not feel or do about things that do not concern him and he rightfully puts him in his place in this scene. Jiang Cheng tells Wei Ying to not choose “someone else” as “we” already have a lot to deal with. He implies Wei Ying shouldn’t help Lan Zhan because he isn’t family and is clearly underplaying his injury despite Wei Ying emphasising its urgency. And Wei Ying is so done with putting up with that kind of negative energy in his love life.
He is quick to silence anyone who thinks they can hold him back from his heart or overstep the boundaries of his relationship with Lan Zhan. And his logic is very sound, for who on earth is capable of stopping Wei Ying from helping him? Not even Lan Zhan!
Wei Ying breaks free of Jiang Cheng's grip and leaves in Lan Zhan's direction after patronizingly patting his arm. And that is his answer. To him, Lan Zhan isn’t just another person and there is certainly no choice he has to make when it comes to him. It will always be Lan Zhan who is his foremost priority and the rest of the world has to simply get used to being left behind.
We see that he knows Lan Zhan would never ask for help but it doesn’t mean he doesn’t need it. His soulmate will hence always offer it, and if rejected, simply throw him on his back and continue while Lan Zhan informs him once again of how “boring” it is. He doesn’t get to do that, but his sentiment is romantic enough to stay in Lan Zhan’s memory for sixteen years and become an action he boldly reciprocates when Wei Ying comes back.
Wangxian’s Love Story is Truly “Epic”
Episodes 11 and 12 trace the beginnings of the turmoil that will forge Wangxian’s path (and make us weep). Every romance starts from the idyllic state of undisturbed happiness but it seldom remains there through the whole story. And let’s be honest, calamities bring emotional depth and complexity to a plot, exposing that our favorite characters are human, flawed and a lot closer to reality than we imagined. Both the heroes stay loyal to their core values, with the conviction to be fearless in the face of unforeseen adversities in life and love.
And we hope like the hopeless romantics who are in love with the greatest love story ever told, that maybe all the tragedies that are about to befall Wei Ying and Lan Zhan won’t matter one day because their happy ending will heal all wounds. Obstacles will continue to strew our heroes apart and push them towards the other on a loop, but Wangxian are like magnets destined to snap back together. They will ascend beyond the stratosphere of romance, straight to the heavens, because their love’s greatest virtue is that they have each other and know each other more than any two people ever did in all of history. They are devoted to the other unconditionally in soul, mind and body.
It’s just that our idiot-soulmates take the long way round to realize that their own joint force is capable of annihilating and birthing entire universes, and nothing that ever dared to stand on their path ever stood a chance. And when they do realize that their love is an infinite, impossible force that can bend the laws of nature and be a harbinger of greatness to a world that is doomed to fail, their story is exalted to an epic that doubles as a romance, effectively displacing all the bland, straight examples of love that have infiltrated our past and perpetuated heteronormativity. Because it boasts a love that all of humankind should vie to fashion their lives after and is a true sight to behold - a sight we will rewatch for as long as we live, and bequeath to posterity so they can grow up looking up to Wangxian. Because their love story is the big budget live action fantasy that queer people have been deprived of for so long and is now here to tell us : You should dare to love because it will become your greatest strength. Just like it became Wei Ying and Lan Zhan’s.

Some of my fave covers of Wuji《无羁》
sort of inspired by @bloody-bee-tea desire for Wuji string covers. Been meaning to make a long post compiling the covers I liked on tumb - especially since I discovered the first video below after finishing CQL and have been mainlining covers since - and your post was all the excuse I needed :P. dk what kind of strings you were looking for exactly but here’s a smattering of various covers - strings or not - I like.
-----
youtube
Guqin x Dizi cover. Iconique, Amazing. One of my top faves and one I go back to over and over
-----
these ones not going to want to embed, bc bilibili, but (1) I REALLY like this guqin-solo cover. I think this is the one guqin cover I tend to “reach for” so to speak : https://www.bilibili.com/video/av66225593/
(2) a cello cover, which is pretty interesting: https://www.bilibili.com/video/av69160991/
(3) harp cover. same with guzheng covers, I’m a bit eh since the tone is a bit bright, but bc it’s harp, it straddles that bright/mellow boundary: https://www.bilibili.com/video/av60827309/
(4) another guqin solo. this guy does it in the rain: https://www.bilibili.com/video/av63316021/
(5) ukelele cover for funsies: https://www.bilibili.com/video/av59118244
-----
youtube
a guzheng & guqin cover; although I don’t love the song on guzheng solo - guzheng is just too bright? also the reason I don’t love pipa covers, sorry pipa - I think the original does overdub guzheng and guqin. or they at least overdub SOMETHING that has more a more strident tone in middle range/higher ranges. At the very least, I found the concept interesting, and I like it better than straight guzheng covers (sorry guzheng. I love you in everything else! just not so much for Wuji)
(here’s a guzheng cover tho, for reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wWWoC-_KW0. Some of the lower registers on guzheng can resemble guqin esp if you bend the notes, but you get more strident/clear mid and high tones than on guqin, so I can see judicious overdubbing being good (like I suspect the CQL OST “Wangji” track having), but like. this is why I roast the Audio Drama for doing obvious guzheng - such as having that iconic guzheng tremolo sound in the “guqin” playing lol - for some of their “guqin” parts lol)
-----
youtube
I don’t really know my dulcimers, but this is a dulcimer of some sort... :’)
-----
And an erhu cover:
youtube
which resembles violin but gives you a bit of a different feel to it
-----
and for funsies, a dizi cover
youtube
but do also check out the instrumental version of Wuji from the OST track. They have an absolute gorgeous flute cover that they use in the show lol
and since I’m out of embed videos in this post, here’s a link to this piano cover of the WangXian triptych (donghua’s Xian Yun, CQL’s Wuji, audio drama’s WangXian) that I enjoy a lot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uiIdfah0nF4
#bloody bee tea#the untamed#chen qing ling#wuji#you can ofc also search youtube for more covers#there's a lot out there#I didn't include any violin covers bc tbh I haven't heard anything that really stuck out to me#mine

The Untamed review
You’ve probably read a review beginning like this a 100 times before. And still I have to say it: I have never taken the time to review a single drama, because I’m lazy like that. But I think it’s time to do it for this masterpiece! And sorry for the length, I got carried away.
Yes, I have read the novel and yes, I surely do not like adaptations, as they never seem to be able to capture the essence of the canon story. So my hopes were low. If you add up the fact that this is a BL story and it had to be censored, to be able to see the light of the day in China, you would probably be less inclined to watch it. But, hear me out, this drama is worth every of the 2250 minutes of your life! They have captured the overall “look” and feel of the canon story in such a stunning way, that even if they would have discarded the canon story completely, this would have ended being a beautiful drama anyways.
Acting:
Starting from the cast, each one of them was beautiful and fit the characters they played. Most of the cast was young and yet they truly did a great job. I will be honest with you, most of Asian dramas don’t do it for me in the department of acting, as they tend to over-act, but this one was actually really good even for my picky nature. They clearly took the time to understand each character deeply and to portray them in such an accurate manner, that I didn’t know was possible. In certain aspects they even added depth to some characters that we haven’t experienced in the novel, which was heartwarming (such as Wen Qing, Jiang Yanli, Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian for example). Even the synchronization didn’t take away any quality, in fact it might have even given the whole drama more sense of uniformity. Oh, and they kept so many of the original dialogs and monologs, that I actually had the novel open to compare all the time!
Set, music etc.:
The landscapes, sets, lighting, compositions, costumes, makeup, sound and choreography were all so gorgeous and well thought through, that those alone are reasons the watch it. Whoever was responsible for the camera work I love you! The way they visualized the mystical aspects of the story were entertaining and appealing (I loved the black fog and the sound that the Stygian Tiger Seal made). The martial art styles fit each character well and yet appeared as though celestial beings were dancing (I’m looking at you Xiao Xingchen and Lan Wangji). And don’t let me start talking about the music. The music will haunt you in your dreams, especially Wuji (you will know what I mean when you see the ending).
Story – incl. comparison to canon:
Lets talk about the story. The novel on its own created such an amazing new fictional world with various types of characters, that it would have been difficult to create a bad adaptation, the film makers would have had to be very lazy to ruin this. So, no surprise here, that they managed to show this divine world and vibrant interactions between colorful characters. Still, I know many do not achieve this and therefore I really want to say thank you to everyone involved who made it possible.
Besides censoring the BL part, they have managed to keep almost every single other aspect of the story. Sometimes they went into such detail, that they caught me off guard and I only managed to close my mouth after several minutes. One could see and feel the love, friendship, family, hardship, envy, revenge, madness, intrigue, strength, political issues, betrayal, hurt, rage, stupidity… And in all honesty it was made in such a way, that even if you want our main heroes to fall in love, you can even see this part in the story. It is up to you, how you interpret their interactions. I know sometimes it sounds like a cheap excuse to says such things, but really it did not feel cheap here at all!
Of course there were other changes to the story (compared to other adaptations very few in my opinion), which were very understandable in fact. Listen, not everything written and seen in our imagination does work well in a live action. It can look weird or unnecessary prolong a story and bore the viewers. So, for example, the fact that they have not chased corpse body parts, but followed a sword spirit had little to no negative effect on the story really. Changing the last fight, actually made it more enjoyable, as the novel repeated some parts too often and was kind of dragging. Changing the temporal sequences was indeed necessary to keep new viewer interested and avoid confusion. Also adding some scenes that were not in the novel, only gave more depth to some characters and made everything more understandable and heart wrenching in the end. And last but not least, yes they cut the steamy parts, but hey we got the chickens! (Yeah my priorities are sometimes weird like that.)
Conclusion:
Looking from a general viewers perspective this was an amazing and entertaining drama.
Looking from a canon fan viewers perspective this was the best adaptation we could have hoped for (within the boundaries there are due to censorship and filmmaking abilities).
Rewatch Value:
I’m gonna start it today, so a big YES!
BTW if you watch the drama with subs, then you should definitely watch the ending on Tencent, as in the WeTV app they have changed a tiny aspect, which can make less of an impact on you (in my opinion).
EDIT: They changed the WeTV app ending back to the original. So it’s the same as Tencent now. Please ignore the last paragraph and enjoy the ride.

Long Lore Rant
... Needs to be reformatted into something pretty rip
Background:
Aight so as per the great and infallible wikipedia, Taoist cosmology states that everything started with wújí and then created yǒu jí. The former means limitless and comes from the words "nothingness" and "reaching the end" ... so nothingness at the end aka no boundaries
the latter was the limited. it's only briefly mentioned as its conception brought on a polarity to the universe - yin and yang
taiji itself is the boundary embodied by you-ji with respect to the infinite wuji and represents the Absolute
The split into yin and yang has a the connotations listed above in the pic ((except... for tikki and plagg the feminine vs masculine seem to be switched cuz from the description, tikki is more closely associated with yang)). Yang is represented by one long dash –– while yin is two small broken ones - - . Now, in the middle column where there are category names for what yin and yang represent the wu xing category (elements, second from the bottom) has earth listed as neither. It also doesn't include air, which the wu xing doesnt include in general but is included by almost every other major culture when classifying the elements.
Kwami Origins: Null
In the beginning there was a great big nothingness and then came a tiny blip of umm... everythingness? making the Absolute. This gave the nothingness and everythingness a consciousness. (wow lots of -ness words here). The nothingness part of the absolute became Null. The everythingness got no name cuz it quickly split off into the rest of creation.
Null's concept art is a three-eyed little creature with two kwami tendrils. I propose Null as the glowing white kwami they originally made but with all black eyes and The Other One as the all black kwami but with glowing white eyes. The prior emptiness/nothingness was energy while the delineation/everythingnes was matter(?). when they created the Absolute, parts of themselves mixed i na typical yin-yang fashion, thus the eyes being like those of the others. This gave them power over the nature of the other sorta???? hard to explain
For Null, he had power over mass, time, and space - matter is anything that has mass and takes up space at a given moment. The Other One (imma call them Higgs bc of the Higgs boson particle but it wouldnt be the real name) had power over tendencies of energy*. So. energy can be used up to build something (creative force - in human metabolism it's an anabolic reaction), released to tear something apart (destructive force - in human metabolism it's a catabolic reaction). bBt it can also be stored/dissipate with no specific purpose, instead being available for all sorts of possible things later (chaotic force?)
idea is that Higgs, upon consciousness, sacrificed themselves to give rise to existence. The Big Bang. they justs sorta fucked off to become a bunch of cool rocks/stardust floating in space and initiated the course of time (which could theoretically be split into different timelines? idk time travel is weird and this is superfluous to my current ramble)
the three aspects of Null that Higgs had gained powers from became concepts that would gain sentience of their own. The yin and yang markings are, technically, three lines. not two. cuz yin is split ( –– vs - - ).
* = this bit's a little less science-y except for keeping with the triad thing bc neutron, electron, and proton
Three, Not Two: Tikki, Plagg, & ...Hexx?
I imagine Null took up the developing concepts and nurtured them sorta. like they were incubating under Null's protection. Tikki emerged out of Null's sphere first; she had the most power from Higgs though all three were pretty closely matched. she was the creative force.
Plagg came out of Null's sphere last. He was the destructive force. Sorta. It was actually coser to... decay? Plagg is really more of a kwami of decay than destruction. He doesnt just obliterate things, he accelerates their decomposition. when his powers act on metal, for instance, it rusts. thats not destruction it's just the wear-and-tear expected to happen over time. Destruction as a concept opposite to that of Creation and Order involves more entropy and plagg really isnt as chaotic as would be expected. While he represents destruction in the sense that the thing is ceasing to function as a unit, the chaos would fall more under hexx.
The third force, the one that embodied possibility, was too erratic. they got out of Null's care first but remained in the sphere for a while longer. they didn't get out til after Tikki. I'm thinking maybe emerged from Null's domain just a few seconds before Plagg (time is still wonky at this point). while Tikki is yang ( –– ), Plagg and #3, henceforth referred to as Hexx, are both yin ( - - ). Plagg is slightly weaker cuz he was "overcooked" and Hexx was "undercooked". Tikki came out just right like a yummy batch of cookies ;)
While Plagg is the biggest cuz he stayed with Null for so long, Hexx is the smallest. Even more so than Tikki but only by a little. I was thinking of him looking like a mix of Tikki and Plagg. More cat-like but with red accents and maybe blue eyes instead of green.
That’s the gist of it with a quick reminder note that time still affects kwamis differently like they mentioned in Sandboy or whatever. so they might be around ten billion years old be the time earth shows up but theyve been very immature. like little kids. and unlike kids that go to school to learn how things work, they were given immense amounts of power and 0 instruction so they have to figure out what they can do, what their identity is, and what purpose they want to have in existence
Tikki has a very do-good attitude and wants to help (even if shes proven sometimes she doesnt give the best advice) and be a Good Kwami. But Plagg isn't a bad kwami. The opposite of love isn't hate after all; it's apathy. Plagg just doesnt really care and will follow Tikki around bc he enjoys her company and his primary concern is himself. Oblivio was a good example of this cuz he's like "no fuck you whats in it for me" but still gets affected by tikki's words and comes back to do as she says eventually.
Hexx would be the "bad apple" though kwamis dont really have moralities cuz those were human constructs and are incredibly subjective. He wouldnt be hatred in the analogy with love, but rather fire-y emotions that are still more negative. quick anger and stuff. usually happy go-lucky. temperamental goes with the nature of being THE force of chaos. while he doesnt wanna help necessarily, he still wants to DO. he's the one that instigates mischief and wants to fuck around for the fun of it.
Making the Miraculous
So from the dinosaur ordeal we know the kwamis DID have effects on earth, but they couldnt consistently intervene - at least not in a controlled fashion. and they couldnt really communicate with humans cuz different field of existence. but their presence became known even if the humans didnt know what they were exactly
the set from the miracle box was made my a mage in china for the purpose of conquests. Hexx’s mischief and meddling probably gave the humans access to the magic/knowledge/whatever they’d need for making the Miraculous. The pitch to get these baby gods to agree was that tikki would have greater control of her powers and could communicate and help! tikki was down. It seemed like a Good Thing and she wanted to do good. Plagg was meh but might as well cuz tikki insisted. hexx wasn't convinced. they werent warned theyd be confined to the miraculous and essentially trapped. plaggs agreement was more out of ignorance of this fact. he figured he could make tikki happy but still fuck off to do what he wanted. never imagined that he'd be subject to another's will.
tikki was happy regardless bc very young (developmentally) and naive and honestly believing that the human knew best and it's what was best for both the kwamis and humanity. she had so much power her jewel had to be split into two - thus, earrings. all other kwamis inhabit a singular miraculous.
when hexx was being trapped it was against his will, unlike plagg and the others. he fought it. he still got trapped but the miraculous wasnt like the others. the nature was different... it was corrupted. Cue: cursed miraculous(es) ((still not sure of the plural)). If he has to suffer then by Null so do the humans who did this. Thus the name Hexx. Opened the option for kwamis to try to fight it or go for it. Werewolves perhaps stem from a group of cursed canid kwamis? The Miracle Box is basically the kwamis who were aight with the idea but other cursed kwamis exist.
The nature of a miraculous depends on the "recipe" used to make the jewels and the kwami's receptiveness to being basically enslaved. The Miracle Box miraculous were all made by the same mage mentioned earlier so they had the same recipe so to speak. All the kwamis in the miracle box fall under yin or yang. Including the elements. So the Zodiac and Wu Xing kwamis are all in either tikki or plagg's domains. Except for one. I propose trixx as the exception, even if they dont fit the traits of earth. i was thinking for the other supporting kwami to hexx there could be one that also refused to join the mage... the kwami representing air (wu xing is basically the only philosophy without air as an element in some shape or form). Possible name: Jinxx, a crow. The fox/crow/cat are all typical tricksters in myths.
The way the kwamis’ powers can be manipulated varies and the cursed kwamis offer the least control to their wielders - and the greatest side effects. I imagine jinxx just fucks off to follow hexx's miraculous, wherever it may be. Hexx is closer to the original curse on pv chat noir... the curse is possibly activated and summoned by the use of tikki or plagg's powers outside their miraculous? And dormant after death of wielder or kiss from LB or something. So that would mean Plagg activated him in style queen and then helping him get a better location/target with the smaller cataclysm in i think catalyst (when he's like "ive been practicing!).
Together, plagg and tikki have that OP wish granting ability but they cant truly summon Null to the this dimension without Hexx, who adamantly refuses. it's not like Hexx's miraculous can be stolen cuz it's cursed onto the subject. As a summary of combined powers... Tikki + Plagg = wish granting? ... Hexx + Tikki = good luck ... Hexx + Plagg = bad luck ... cuz Hexx is about possibility and consequences. So creation-related effects tend to manifest as what humans deem to be good while destruction-related ones are seen as bad.
Hexx Making an Appearance
For the current Mari/Adri plot I thought of Hexx cursing Felix or sth and bringing him onto the hero scene. Comes with the benefit of jealous CN. Maybe a scene where cat-ish Felix tells Chat Noir that he’s not interested in LB, only Mari and they have some sorta agreement to respect that (would work best in the half brother’s thing if Adri found out). All hell would break loose if/when LBs identity came out.
Also I like the idea of Hexx having been locked in Pandora's jar with other angry ~cursed~ miraculous and the others immediately fucked off and scattered their miraculous but Hexx remained. possibility and consequence does not mean bad things. it's the uncertainty of the future that allows for hope, which is what pandora found. the greek tales also have varying connotations on whether finding hope was a blessing or a curse depending on how you looked at it
