Hellgate Academy | Ep. 101 - First Rites - Pilot [HD] | YouTube
Warren Wood is working through a few issues. And he just found out that he's a demon. That might complicate a few things.
Hellgate Academy is an urban fantasy dark comedy webseries about a young man from Astoria, New York who learns after years of living as a human, that he is actually a Demon. We follow his story as he struggles through his Tempter training at Hellgate Academy. The series takes inspiration from the fantasy stories of writers like C.S. Lewis (The Screwtape Letters), Dante (The Divine Comedy), Milton (Paradise Lost), the Book of Revelations, and the âseven deadly sins."
When a slacker New York post-grad discovers he is a Demon, he must struggle through his training to tempt a mortal soul. Everyone battles their personal demons⌠but some demons arenât very good at the job.

POSTED MAY 11, 2020 BY JONAH
[From Astoria Performing Arts Center]
Astoria Performing Arts Center in association with Teresa Lotz presents The Insiders Musicals from the Quarantine Six original musicals responding to the COVID-19 crisis.
Astoria Performing Arts Center (Dev Bondarin, Artistic Director), in association with Teresa Lotz, presents six new musical shorts written in response to the COVID-19 crisis. Featuring the work of fifteen writers, five directors, and sixteen actors, the contributing artists joined the project in the early days of the crisis in the spirit of developing new work without being in the same room to do so.
Quarantine. Crisis. Connection. Hope. There are many stories to tell right now and with The Insiders, these writers have created six in response to the current situation. From the expressionistic to the satirical, to the reality of family members trying to communicate, each film tells a story based in the here and now while we experience this unprecedented moment of pain in the world together.
The six short musicals will launch online starting May 22nd. Viewing will be free of charge, but there is a suggested donation of $10 which will benefit Astoria Performing Arts Center and Indie Theater Fund (www.indietheaterfund.org/donate). More info can be found at www.apacny.org. The Insiders is written by Krista Knight, Derek Hassler & Ryan Kerr, Rachel Kunstadt, Briana Harris & Teresa Lotz, Charles Inniss & Christopher Inniss, Marcus Scott, Blake Allen & Marc Chan, Annette Storckman, Naomi Matlow & Andi Lee Carter, Claire Tran & Blake Allen. Another Amazing Kickstarter (SNAKE EYES by Alex Rafala âKickstarter) has been published on http://crowdmonsters.com/new-kickstarters/snake-eyes-by-alex-rafala-kickstarter/
A NEW KICKSTARTER IS LAUNCHED:
Stew and Edmonia, stricken with poverty and hopelessly addicted to huffing paint thinner, inhabit ââŚthe shittiest apartment youâve ever seen.â Stew, the more delusional of the two, confuses his obsessive ambition to be a filmmaker with the talent necessary to achieve that goal talent he undoubtedly lacks. Despite her protests, Edmonia is unable to sway Stew toward a more realistic job that could propel them out of financial strife. Upward mobility seems to be a grim impossibilityâŚ
âŚUntil the phone rings.
A mysterious client eager to commission a film project spurs Stewâs excitement. Stew blindly agrees, pursuing the opportunity without regard for the clientâs peculiar behavior. But when the bizarre nature of the clientâs project is finally revealed, Stew and Edmonia are forced to weigh their morals against their dreams, deciding how far they are willing to descend in order to break out of poverty and into the film industry.
This play was simultaneously the byproduct of and cure for our playwrightâs post-undergraduate, career-oriented apprehensions. It was conceived and exists as an emotional conduit, surging with the remnant charge of anxious energy exercised during a period defined by uncertainty. Now, after a year of writing, our newly assembled team of passionate theater creators is excited to share this play with the New York City theatre community. Staged Readings are a vital first step in the development of new plays, and their feedback will prove invaluable as we move forward.
Additionally, we hope to spark interest in a realized production by inviting potential producers to our reading.Â
Nik Walker* (Stew) â Nik Walker is a theater artist, Tarantino fanatic, Marvel/DC nerd and professional collector of insanely talented frienenmies. Currently appearing nightly in that Hamilton skit on Broadway, Nikâs also been seen in Motown the Musical, Peter and the Starcatcher, as well as fighting with a meat cleaver at the Old Globe, battling pink robots at La Jolla Playhouse and swigging whiskey at the Denver Center.Â
A playwright, his pieces Whiskeyland! and Uncle Jackie are in development with Richard H Blake and Michael Balderrama of Last Call Theatricals. Nik lives in Astoria with his savior-of-a-wife Sarah and their cat Ferris.

She has trained at NYU, AADA and RADA. She is a proficient ukulele player, a sub-par but earnest motorcyclist, and has appeared in more crime reenactment series than sheâd ever have believed possible.
