🫘 Spill the beans. What's a new project you're doing this year?

Sadly, not many beans to spill. My primary goal is to finish A Song For the End of the World. Other than that? I have been mulling over a fairytale for a while now...not the SJM-style but in keeping with traditional fairy/folk tales...but that's just a seed of an idea right now.

There is also a very good chance we’ll see some more PawP@th team adventures!!

Ohhhh there are so many scenes coming up in ASFTEOTW that I can't wait to write/share! But since the emoji for this question is a lil kaboom...let's just say, I'm looking forward to writing an explosive scene soon. :)

💖 What is your primary writing goal for this year?

Honestly? To just DO IT. 😅 I struggle with self-criticism to the point of paralysis sometimes, and last year was particularly bad for that. I wrote a lot at the beginning and end of 2024, but there was a nearly 9-month stretch where I couldn't work on "25 Days..." because every time I tried I was immediately thinking "No! It sucks!" and stopped. This year my resolution is, "Who cares if you think it sucks? DO IT. A bad, finished fic is better than a great one that never leaves your imagination!"

🥳 How are you going to celebrate when you achieve one of your writing goals?

By reading more fics by people who inspire me (and cheering in the Discord server with y'all. 💕)

Oooh, tough one. I have so many! I'd say it's a tie between two different ones.

First is finishing "25 Days..." so I can start writing some of the other fics I have planned for that AU. I've got so many ideas for everyone in the gang and how their lives continue throughout and after the RDR1 era, and I can't wait to expand on it. It won't all be Christmas fluff, for sure - things will be much happier than in canon, but still intense!

The other is a series of canon-divergent Morbell fics I hope to start this summer (I think I've mentioned it on Discord before), a slowish-burn enemies to friends to lovers. Not divergent enough to avert tragedy, though, because I am evil. 😈

🦖) sighing. hanging my head with a little bit of shame. maybe also foaming at the mouth. yeah... i really miss voltron. but BUT not like all of it, for obvious reasons. i miss my BOY, my like original blorbo, my number one, the love of my life, the sun to my MOON. hunk my BOYYYY. yeah i have demons in my brain and they're whispering things to me. so we will see hm hm hm

🦷) i really had to think about this, idk why. but i landed on the eventual break up scene in my deku/reader small town fic.

for those that don't know, i've been (slowly) writing a fic where deku buys a house in a small town in Hokkaido, where he goes to escape city life every other weekend. it's there that he meets reader, someone who is a little rough around the edges, but still warm, kind and sweet.

the conflict of the fic is that deku can't/won't leave the city permanently, he's a teacher and he loves his students and his friends, and they're all in the city, and reader has no interest in the city, they refuse to even visit. so they both sort of dance around the relationship between them, it could be more, it could be better, but they don't see each other often enough for it to be anything else.

the scene i'm dreading is the end where, inevitably, they end things. originally when i first was thinking out the plot, it was gonna be something with a happy ending, or at the very least, a hopeful ending, bittersweet. something where they both make do with what they have, but that's unrealistic. a relationship between two people who refuse to do more to make it work simply will not work. and i really do not wanna write something so sad with deku omg, i'm gonna feel so bad.

💥) okay hm hm hm, this one is hard, too. i just have so many wips happening all at once, all the time LOL

i'm pretty excited for a scene in my sero fic, sun digs its heels to taunt you. (read more about it here for more context)

reader is gonna realize how important sero is to them via their quirk suddenly working with further distances. typically, it's a certain range (say like 20 feet) where their quirk will work and they will slip into someone else's dream.

idk what the logistics are yet, maybe sero gets hurt and is in the hospital, maybe he's just at home, but reader is gonna fall into his dream despite being so far away from him. i'm just excited to like write the magic of a dream, of being in someone else's dream! imagine how sick and cool that is. and i think sero, despite dreaming, will know that when he sees reader, it's really them. and he's just as shocked as they are, but excited too! idk idk idk this is just gonna be so fun to write omg

The crowd inches closer, a worried clammer coming from all directions. However, all you can focus on is the girl standing right across from you. She’s wearing a thick coat, her hair in a neat ponytail. She’s giving you a curious look, she also looks amused. 

Your brows furrow, the brown of her eyes familiar. 

“You plannin’ on gettin’ off me sweetheart?” 

You push yourself up, realizing you're still sprawled on top of the stranger. Heat rushes to your cheeks as you scramble to stand, muttering apologies. He chuckles, a deep, resonant sound that sends a shiver through you.

"Easy there, no harm done," he says, getting up as well. The crowd seems to disperse now that the crisis is averted, leaving you alone with the man and the girl, who's still watching you with that curious expression. “You a’right? That was quite a journey down.”

Been dying to write some jayvik or timebomb since watching arcane! Also Jayce x Mel (don’t know the ship name) I’ve only written for slay the princess once, but it was so fun, I’d love to write more for the shifting mound x the long quiet! I’d also like to write for Heron x Alexia (blood of Zeus)

Not necessarily new ships, but ones I’d like to write more of would be Breanne x Jamie (got) Lazlo x Nadja, Nandermo, & Lazlo x Nadja x Nandor (wwdits) any dynamic from dungeon meshi, just about any couple from schitts creek, & any dynamic for tadc (& more, I just can’t think of all of them rn)

Idk about multi chaptered fics, but I have a lot of one shots I wanna write for other fandoms! I have some really fun Hatchetfield fics in store that I’m really looking forward to! But I might try & revive some old chaptered fics that never got the attention I wanted & start posting those again (preventing apotheosis, through a wormhole & amongst the stars, & everlasting avengers)

Not that I can really think of? The only thing I’m consistently posting & actively planning out is the ghost!Polites fic, & I’m so excited for all of it! I’m not entirely sure how I want the challenge scene to play out & I’ve been trying to work it around in my head if that counts lol

Hm, good question, and honestly, I'm not sure. I'm trying to think of ones I haven't written yet. Maybe lovers to enemies? That's something I haven't done before.

Actually, I want to try to write more. Last year's word count was absolutely pitiful, and as someone who claims to be a writer, I should really do better. I'm trying to set the habit of writing at least fifteen minutes a day and seeing how that goes.

🤔: are there any new characters you want to write about?

So, having just seen The Thing (1982) for the first time, I'm very intrigued by the roller skating chef. Like. That detail didn't even foreshadow anything! It doesn't help them fight The Thing at all! And yet, it's consistently in there. I'm working on a retelling from his perspective right now, and hoping a few more silly little ficlets will hit me, because I really love him.

I also just recently wrote a fic for A Room Of One's Own, which has gone public domain this year! So I'm thinking I want to do something original with some of those characters, and see if any of them take on a life of their own. Chloe and Olivia, probably. It seems like there's a lot to work with in the few paragraphs of description they get, whether it's writing their novel out or not.

💖 What is your primary writing goal for this year?

Ideally, I'd love to get the first of the two arcs planned for Emigre done this year. I don't anticipate finishing Emigre within the year, though that would be amazing.

I'd also love to finally, finally finish writing Hoarfrost. It's nearly done, I think, but the last chunk has been giving me so much guff I'd had to put the story in time-out for a bit.

Mostly, though, I'll be happy if I can just write and write until all the stories in my head are out in the world. I'm a simple creature, that way.

🐌 What is one of your smallest writing goals?

For a smaller goal, I think I'd like to progress enough in Emigre's storyline to start churning out a few of the oneshots and AUs I've had bouncing around inside my head for a while now.

For a non-Emigre goal, I'd like to finish up with The Stars Keep Watch this year! That, or re-write TSKW a bit and refine it a little further, maybe? Lots of options for that one.

I'd also like to write in some other fandoms for a bit, too, but I'm wary of that because the writing hyperfocus might take over my higher brain functions and leave me neglecting Emigre/TSKW for a time. I've got ideas for a bunch of stories in other fandoms, including Arcane, Stargate: Atlantis, The Elder Scrolls, and so on. Too many ideas!

Hmmm how to share this in a non-spoilery way...basically, the entire final act of ASFTEOTW is daunting to me. I've never written a story of this scale before, and I'm worried I won't be able to stick the landing. I am already doing much reviewing of my notes while I write to try and make sure I don't miss any threads...going to really try and trust the process here and be kind to myself....

Okay, since I already mentioned an "explosive" scene in ASFTEOTW another post, I'll offer one more teaser...if anyone has been wondering what Walburga has been up to this whole time...you'll find out soon.

🍕Will you be making any changes to your posting schedule (if you have one)? (Or do you want to establish a posting schedule?)

I was trying to post ASFTEOTW on Fridays for a while, but I just don't have the time/schedule to be able to promise I'll post by a certain date. My time for writing is too sporadic, and I fear it will only be worse for the next ~6 months because of work obligations. 😭 So, no schedule, just me trying to type my little heart out whenever I can find a moment to myself.

I can say that in general, it usually takes me about 1-2 weeks to write out a ~10k word chapter once I get going. But I can't make any promises and it pains me!!

I have a few wips that I started publishing that are unfinished and I'd like to finish at least 2 this year. Specifically, 1 long fic and 1 short fic (although I have more than that to finish).

After that, I want to get some of my near finished one shots completed so I can get them out into the world and clear my wip folder because it's gotten out of hand.

favorite fic you wrote this year

Oof. I think I've said this before but my favorite fic is always the one I'm currently writing. Like, once a fic is done, I hope it loses my number because it is dead to me.

That being said, I'm really fucking proud of Songs for the Zombie Apocalypse (for a lot of reasons) so I'm going to say that one. And also... Normal Frenemy Shit because it has maybe my favorite Spideypool scene I've ever written in it. And the wound fucking, of course.

3. favorite line/scene that you wrote this year

Man. Okay. Well, I already mentioned the Normal Frenemy Shit scene (the eating on the obligatory rooftop "date" one). The ninth chapter of Hang Me Up to Dry (SFTZA). Annnnd, let's say the closet scene from every star for you because the world needs more wlw smut.

Just wrote? Not published? I mean, I'm not done but I'm definitely over 400k. (Also, I can't believe you always make me share my shame inducing numbers with you.)

12. favorite character to write about this year

Mobius. If you had asked me before I watched Loki, I'm not sure what my answer would have been, but now it's Mobius. I love him as just Some Guy™️ with the dad jokes and swag to capture a god's attention. He's such a compelling character, and so, so different than a lot of the representations of "men who work for authority" we get. He's just the guy that said, "I can fix him" and then actually did. The order to Loki's chaos.

14. a fic you didn't expect to write

A Particular Set of Skills. I really, really didn't want to start a whole other fucking fic for those two, but Black Ace captivated me and it couldn't be helped.

15. something you learned this year

I AM CAPABLE OF WRITING THINGS THAT DON'T END IN ROMANCE. Don't get me wrong, I love romance and am glad to be back in fluff city, but for so long it felt like every fucking thing I wrote ended not just with a happy ending, but with a romantic one. I like happy endings, and I'm not going to cull them from my stories forever, but it's nice to know that I have the skill (now? always?) to write something that isn't (strictly) romance.

Sapphic gothic horror here I come.

I'm going to pick something that so far away from a fandom I would typically participate in. Not because I don't like it, but I just wouldn't come in contact with the source material.

Poison Apple by surveycorpsjean which is a SoapGhost (COD) fic that scratches some of my worst itches. (You recommended it to me so thanks!)

25. a fic you read this year you would recommend everyone read

Here I was, so proud of myself that I could come up with an answer to the last question, and you hit me again. Is this where I admit that I don't read a lot of fics? 😬 Okay. Okay. No. I have one. I think everyone should read it because it's entertaining as hell (and a super quick read, too!), but I definitely think that writers should read it so they can see just what kind of shit you can do with limited words and only dialogue.
