thinking about wrench and numbers as kids bc they will not leave my mind. in my headcanon their parents were friends who shared one of those split houses so they pretty much Had to hang out all the time, also in part because they were both just kind of annoying smart ass kids who the other children would barely give the time of day and if anyone did try to play with them, one or the other or both would find something to complain about and it would devolve into furious signing while the other kids stood there with the ball wishing they'd asked anyone else in the whole world to play foursquare. so they grow up pretty inseparable while also claiming they can't STAND each other - wrench thinks numbers is a pushy oblivious jerk who throws a fit when he doesnt get his way and numbers thinks wrench is a spaced out smartass who gets too caught up in little details and misses the big picture of whatever latest venture he's got them on plus he stares like he's trying to burn a hole through your head with his eyes and it's creepy - but really they're best friends. plus they get bullied a fair amount so there's some Us Against The World bonding going on. oh and numbers is a year older than wrench but is shorter than him except for Once in his teens when a growth spurt kicked in and he was So smug about being the same height til like a month later when wrench shot up a couple inches and ruined it.
