not a fan of people saying Odin and Loki are similar in a moral or decisive sense, particularly when it comes to Thor. that makes it sound like Loki doesn't know Thor or care about him beyond what he symbolises (regarding Asgard/the throne/family/worthiness), when that's a defining part of their relationship
#Loki#Worstie writing a full blown well thought out character-study essay in the tags!#Everything is correct btw#Like I just thought Thor and Loki inherited/learned traits from both of their parents...#Yes Thor is very sensitive and caring like Frigga... but he's also extremely arrogant (at the start) and violent when he's angry...#Thor embodied a lot of Asgard's shitty ideas of masculinity... like being super strong with no weaknesses and loving war and being brutal#Not bc he was evil or anything but bc that's what he learned how to be - it's Asgardian culture at it's worst...#And Thor being the Golden Son the Asgardian Ideal... well he had to live up to that idea and so he did...#Whereas Loki never really fit any of those ideals to begin with#Like yes - Loki is cold and calculating much like Odin is... but he's *also* sensitive and caring - he just hides it better#Like there's a reason why he had a stronger bond with Frigga... they shared a lot of similarities right down to their nervous habits...#(picking at their hands)#He even learned to *speak* like Frigga - like they both end up kind of placating Thor/Odin to ease their tempers...#(placating's probably not the right word but hopefully you know what I mean - speaking gently being non confrontational as possible)#It's only when Loki becomes full of rage and stops giving a fuck that he starts injecting a lot more venom into his words#But before he spoke very much like Frigga#IDK I just think they both learned and inherited qualities from *both* of their parents - for better or worse#Thor#Frigga#Odin#Saying that Thor is exactly like Frigga is ignoring that Thor has a lot of Odin's pride and fierce temper...#It's just that he learns to have a bit more humility and start developing stronger morals once he's back from Earth...#In which Odin is very much stuck in his ways and mostly refuses to see or care about the harm in his actions...#As a father and as a king#And saying that Loki is exactly like Odin is ignoring all of their major differences - which Worstie perfectly explained in the prev tags
