An Interview with Ring Announcer Miss Wendy
The ring announcer for any professional wrestling show is an especially important job and an irreplaceable part of the overall wrestling experience. For many wrestling fans, they have fond memories of their favorite announcers throughout the years, whether it be Howard Finkel, Michael Buffer, Lillian Garcia, David Penzer or even Justin Roberts. A good ring announcer can make or break a wrestling…

Rocky Romero has been instrumental in fostering a relationship between New Japan Pro Wrestling and All Elite Wrestling. It was recently reported that Romero now works in the front office of AEW. However, he has now taken up a new position in NJPW. Romero revealed on his social media ahead of the Windy City Riot show in Chicago that he is the "NJOA VP Of Show & Talent Coordination."
Romero has worked with NJPW in some capacity since 2010. He is currently signed with the promotion as an in-ring talent and an ambassador. Romero is credited as the person to helped bring Mercedes Moné into NJPW at Wrestle Kingdom 17 and helped get the first Forbidden Door pay-per-view between AEW and NJPW off the ground in 2022.
Tumblr media
NJPW has also worked with IMPACT/TNA Wrestling for Multiverse United, a similar concept to Forbidden Door. Last fall, MLW entered a working relationship with NJPW and Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre that saw the latter stepping through the proverbial forbidden door.
"CMLL has always been known for not doing partnerships besides the New Japan partnership that they've had for many, many years. Both companies are extremely loyal to each other. I reached out to CMLL and they floated the idea around and they liked having another partner, especially if New Japan was going to be linked and involved with it. I was able to get them all to meet over a Zoom call and they had a great conversation and that was the start. I think you're going to see a lot more CMLL talent coming to MLW very, very soon."
In his on-screen talent roles, Romero works for various companies, including NJPW, MLW, AEW, CMLL, and ROH.

Fathy Aboelrokab (the smaller guy with the long hair) verses Kamal "Big Kimo" Basira, Feb 18th World Championship Sumo.
both of these guys are Judo black belts.
Tumblr media
Fathy had won his first match earlier in the evening (against Kyle Ferriter); i was really impressed with him. honestly, i was rooting for both of these guys. but oh, Big Kimo!
to be very honest i think we (me and @ibelieveinthepowerofstuff) both fell a little bit in love with this guy. there's just something about him. his spirit... like, listen: all of the athletes we saw were incredible. you could tell how dedicated they all were. but this guy is definitely something special. i don't know how else to say it.
now, about the match.
i was both looking forward to this one, and apprehensive of it, because i liked both of these guys a lot, and i wanted to see both of them succeed. i knew it was gonna be rough. one of them was going to lose! but actually, tbvh, i did see them both succeed.
Fathy executed an extremely impressive trip in the first bout after being forced nearly to the edge of the dohyo; ultimately he lost this match, but ohhh man. no way was anyone about to forget that. he has got amazing moves.
Big Kimo won the next bout by forcing Fathy outside the dohyo, meaning the match would be decided by a third bout. excitement! aaaah! and then he kept the momentum, starting out with open hand strikes, then both of them back to grappling, ending up with Fathy outside the ring again.
watch [here]! this match begins one hour and four minutes in.
you can follow Big Kimo on instagram @ big_kimo_sumo
this whole event was absolutely amazing, i'm still so hyped that i actually got to see sumo wrestling in person, and i'm already looking forward to the next one in March! i'm probably going to blab about a few more matches tbh, there were a lot of moments that really struck me. so stay tuned for more of my shitty screenshots and rambling commentary, i guess. do i know what i'm talking about? not really. but that's not gonna shut me up <3 one thing i do know: sumo is cool as hell.
once again, much love to these amazing athletes. i hope to see more of both of them in the future!

REVIEW: World League Wrestling - Comes to St. Joe! (2023)
A Live wrestling event on December 2, 2023 I think one of my favorite things going on right now in the Kansas City Professional Wrestling scene is that one could probably attend a live show EVERY WEEKEND if they really wanted to. Unless I suddenly get rich or something, that really isn’t feasible, but having the ability to do so is wild to me. This past weekend I had one such opportunity pop up…

If you're not following World Tag League, go out of your way to watch Aussie Open vs. Tetsuya Naito & SANADA from this mornings show. It was excellent.
