Shots Fired Into the Home of Oregon Insurance CEO
Around 4 a.m. on Friday, February 21, an attacker fired shots into the home of the CEO of an Oregon workers’ compensation insurance company, according to a police report, with no injuries and the house sustaining “minor damage.” The Oregonian/OregonLive reported on an internal email from SAIF CEO and President Chip Terhune confirming the shooting at his home in Lake Oswego. “At around 4 a.m., I heard what I thought were rocks thrown at my house, but discovered they were gunshots,” he reportedly wrote in the email. “An investigation is underway, and we don’t know if this was specifically targeted to me.”

SAIF is a state-chartered not-for-profit and the largest workers’ compensation agency in Oregon. Terhune has been CEO of SAIF since 2021, when his base salary was $500,000. While his exact salary is not reported, he has he regularly received raises and “incentive payments” of 35-40%, according to SAIF’s annual reports. In 2024, according to calculations from the 2021 base salary, Terhune’s salary was around $562,323 and his bonus amounted to something like $216,000.

Monitors vital signs and other testing/specimen collection as needed. Reports all observations/changes of a resident's condition to a nurse as soon as practical. Documents all nursing care being provided to ensure that the care plan is being followed. Ensure proper communication to appropriate parties. Ensures that the resident is comfortable and all needs and requests are being met. Promptly answers residents call lights and requests. Instills confidence in the resident by performing duties in a competent and caring manner. Maintains strong working relationships with other staff members throughout the facility. Maintains confidentiality of all resident and company information. Performs assigned tasks in accordance with acceptable standards of practice as defined by state regulations. Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality. Perform other duties that may be assigned. Specific Requirements: Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information and any other personal information about the resident. Basic computer proficiencies are required. Examples are: ability to send and manage incoming emails; ability to turn computer on/off and operate a mouse; comfortable with opening, making changes to and saving documents.
