Japan

In Asien befällt mich dieses kindliche Staunen. Geheimnisvolle Schriftzeichen, was sie wohl bedeuten? Bis Ernst in meinem Erwachsenleben auftaucht und ich etwas verstehen soll. Ohne freundliche Hilfe meiner muttersprachlichen Mitmenschen geht gar nichts. Dann setzt die kindliche Unbeholfenheit ein. Nicht so prickelnd. Begrenzend.

Und zum ersten Mal lässt mich eine App vom Stuhl springen: “WordLens”, nun in Google Translator integriert, übersetzt simultan die japanische Speisekarte, die Alex und ich ihm per Bildauslöser im Android-Smartphone vorsetzen. Textausrichtung, Text markieren, lesen. Auch offline. Auch gut für Wegweiser, Fahrpläne, Tickets, und in Japan eben für die Anleitung zum Klospülen.

Das kindliche Staunen wird zum Spielen. Auf einmal ist die Umgebung noch viel interessanter. Mein “drittes Auge” eröffnet mir eine neue Sicht in andere Welten. Situations-bezogene bildbasierte Echtzeit-Simultanübersetzung in viele, viele, viele Sprachen zugänglich für viele.

Eye-tracking in einer Datenbrille macht auf einmal Sinn! In Zukunft mehr Cyborg werden, zum ersten Mal attraktiv. Für zusätzliche Einblicke in sonst für mich unzugängliche Sprachen, Chinesisch, Japanisch, Koreanisch, Arabisch, Hebräisch …

Entwickler, hört Ihr? Die Bild-basierte Simultanübersetzungsbrille ist hiermit bestellt. Mit oder ohne Google. Hauptsache mit offline-Funktion. Egal wie rudimentär, egal wie klobig. Der erste Benz war auch eine Rumpelkiste, mit dem (als Datenbrille) würde ich jetzt gerne fahren.
