Hmm... from what I recall, I wanted to make a viera, but I started on free trial and didn't have access to them, yet. I'm not sure why I leaned hyur once I realized that, but I did, and I do not regret it. Easily my favorite race in the game (for some inexplicable reason).

Her appearance ended up being a mishmash of things I like, things I want, and things I am myself. I had a habit (still do) of making game avatars brunettes with yellow fringe or highlights (the hair I would like for myself, given the freedom to do so). I also typically chose hairstyles with either pigtails or braids, which is why she started with the pigtail braids. I remember being disappointed by the limitations with facial features/tattoos/face paint, because I very much wanted both the star "face paint" and freckles. (For a long time, I imagined Aeryn had both, anyway... but I no longer do that, now. At some point, her freckle-free appearance just automatically became canon in my brain.) Otherwise, there's not a terrible lot to it. She started with brown eyes (pre-ShB) because I think brown eyes are absolutely beautiful; and she's pale and short because I'm pale and short.

At the time I created her, I typically named my avatars Bubbles, based on a then-long-standing nickname... which I share because I initially planned to name her Bubbles Stormwater, a combo nickname/character name from an old job I had in which I lightly portrayed a role as a (very silly) pirate. I backpedaled at the last second and chose another old screen name, Aeryn, for her first name, instead, and here we are. (Bubbles then went to her chocobo!)

And, although this part came later, I worked like crazy to get those darn bun ears from the Gold Saucer. For a long time I used them for every single glam she had. They were meant to be a little nod to one of the character quirks of the pirate persona that inspired her, which eventually became a very small part of her yet-unshared backstory... as well as a nod to the fact that she potentially could have been viera if I'd had access to that race from the start!

To keep with the Scandinavian flavor of the Viera, "Loksen" is kind of a fictionalized application of some Scandinavian naming conventions. Particularly "-sen" to create "Son of-": Anderssen: son of Anders, Magnussen: son of Magnus, Thorsen: son of Thor, etc. In this case, "Loksen" is supposed to be "son of Loki".

"Tyrwesfv" is in keeping, albeit a bit loosely, with Veena male surname naming conventions. "Tyr" being a nod to Tyr, the Norse god of war, justice, and heroic endeavor.

How did you come up with your OC's name? Does it have any meaning? Any real-world origins?

over on our little server i've been asking a WoL development question a day until dawntrail and it's been well-recieved so far, so after a month of doing it i figured i may as well put them on here~
